Abstract
Brønsted acid- and/or Lewis acid-catalyzed selective C3-allylation and formal [3 + 2]-annulation of spiro-aziridine oxindoles with allylsilanes have been demonstrated to deliver direct access to 3-allyl-3-aminomethyl oxindoles and 5-silyl methyl spiro[pyrrolidine-3,3'-oxindoles], respectively. The acid-catalyzed methods do not provide any stereoselectivity when chiral spiroaziridines are used. However, the reaction of nonracemic sprioaziridines with allyl-Grignard reagent under catalyst-free conditions afforded 3-allyl-3-aminomethyl oxindoles with good stereoselectivity (ee up to 80%). The allylation protocol is utilized for the short synthesis of coerulescine and various 5'-substituted spiro[pyrrolidine-3,3'-oxindoles].

Abstract
A cascade reaction involving arynes and 5-ethoxyoxazoles has been developed toward the synthesis of 9-alkyl/aryl tritylones. 5-Ethoxyoxazoles undergo a [4 + 2] cycloaddition reaction with arynes followed by retro-[4 + 2] cycloaddition, a second intermolecular [4 + 2] cycloaddition reaction, and hydrolytic ring cleavage to generate substituted tritylones in good yields. The conversion of tritylone products to a series of spirocyclic anthrone derivatives has been demonstrated. The reaction is expeditious, exhibits wide scope, and employs readily available starting materials.

Abstract
An efficient and elegant assembly of pyrene/aryl fused pyrrolo[2,3-b]quinolinone and pyrrolizino[3,2-b]quinolinone hybrid heterocycles was achieved via a domino multicomponent reaction strategy using a solid state melt reaction (SSMR) condition. The 1,3-dipole component was generated in situ from N-methylgylcine/l-proline and isatin, while the Baylis-Hillman adduct prepared from pyrene-1-carbaldehyde and various benzaldehydes is used as the dipolarophile. The domino protocol comprises 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and a consequent double annulation reaction process. The advantages of this cascade protocol include environmentally friendly conditions, the avoidance of toxic organic solvents, simple work-up and good to excellent product yields.

Abstract
The aim of this review is to provide an overview of green protocols for the organic synthesis of heterocycles via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. Particular attention has been devoted to the use of green solvents; reactions performed in ionic liquids, fluorinated solvents and water have been included. Also explored are several protocols that make use of catalyst-free reaction conditions, the use of microwave irradiation and activation by light exposure. Improvements over commonly used organic solvents will be underlined in order to highlight environmental protection aspects and enhancements in regio- and stereo-selectivity.

Abstract
Background Spiropyrrolidine tethered piperidone heterocyclic hybrids were synthesized with complete regio- and stereoselectively in excellent yield via a tandem three-component 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and subsequent enamine reaction in [bmim]Br. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their anticancer activity against FaDu hypopharyngeal tumor cells. Findings Interestingly, most compounds displayed cytotoxicities similar to the standard anticancer agent bleomycin, with two of them (5a and 5g) being slightly more active than the reference drug. Abstract
A series of spirooxindolopyrrolidine fused N-styrylpiperidone heterocyclic hybrids has been synthesized in excellent yield via a domino multicomponent protocol that involves one-pot three component 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and concomitant enamine reactions performed in an inexpensive ionic liquid, namely 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([bmim]Br). Compounds thus synthesized were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against U-937 tumor cells. Interestingly; compounds 5i and 5m exhibited a better cytotoxicity than the anticancer drug bleomycin. In addition; the effect of the synthesized compounds on the nuclear morphology of U937 FaDu cells revealed that treatment with compounds 5a–m led to their apoptotic cell death.

Abstract
For the first time, arylmethylidene cyclohexanones that are non-symmetrical due to the presence of peripheral substituents were studied in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions. It is shown that the interaction with the azomethine ylide generated from sarcosine proceeds regio- and diastereoselectively, with the participation of two non-equivalent parts of the dipolarophile. Also for the first time, β-amino ketones (Mannich bases) were used as dipolarophile equivalents of unsaturated ketones. It was found that cycloaddition occurs diastereoselectively at the generated center.

Abstract
A series of benzimidazole-tethered oxazepine heterocyclic hybrids has been synthesized in good to excellent yields from an N-alkylated benzimidazole 2-carboxaldehyde, which in turn was accomplished from o-phenylenediamine in three good yielding steps. The calculated molecular structure of compounds 2-methyl-4-(2-((phenylimino)methyl)-1H-benzo-[d]imidazol-1-yl)-butan-2-ol 9 and 10 3,3-dimethyl-N-phenyl-1,2,3,5-tetrahydrobenzo-[4,5]imidazo[2,1-c][1,4]oxazepin-5-amine using the B3LYP/6-31 G(d, p) method were found to agree well with their X-ray structures. The charge distributions at the different atomic sites were computed using the natural bond orbital (NBO) method. The regions of electrophilic and nucleophilic reactivity were shown using a molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) map. In addition, the frontier molecular orbitals of these compounds were discussed at the same level of theory. Nonlinear optical (NLO) properties have also been investigated by computational hyperpolarizability studies, and it was found that Compound 9 is the best candidate for NLO applications.
