Abstract
Many chronic diseases have become severe public health problems with the development of society. A safe and efficient healthcare method is to utilize physical stimulus-responsive polymer patches, which may respond to physical stimuli, including light, electric current, temperature, magnetic field, mechanical force, and ultrasound. Under certain physical stimuli, these patches have been widely used in therapy for diabetes, cancer, wounds, hair loss, obesity, and heart diseases since they could realize controllable treatment and reduce the risks of side effects. This review sketches the design principles of polymer patches, including composition, properties, and performances. Besides, control methods of using different kinds of physical stimuli were introduced. Then, the fabrication methods and characterization of patches were explored. Furthermore, recent applications of these patches in the biomedical field were demonstrated. Finally, we discussed the challenges and prospects for its clinical translation. We anticipate that physical stimulus-responsive polymer patches will open up new avenues for healthcare by acting as a platform with multiple functions.

Abstract
Meniscus is vital for maintaining the anatomical and functional integrity of knee. Injuries to meniscus, commonly caused by trauma or degenerative processes, can result in knee joint dysfunction and secondary osteoarthritis, while current conservative and surgical interventions for meniscus injuries bear suboptimal outcomes. In the past decade, there has been a significant focus on advancing meniscus tissue engineering, encompassing isolated scaffold strategies, biological augmentation, physical stimulus, and meniscus organoids, to improve the prognosis of meniscus injuries. Despite noteworthy promising preclinical results, translational gaps and inconsistencies in the therapeutic efficiency between preclinical and clinical studies exist. This review comprehensively outlines the developments in meniscus tissue engineering over the past decade (Scheme 1). Reasons for the discordant results between preclinical and clinical trials, as well as potential strategies to expedite the translation of bench-to-bedside approaches are analyzed and discussed.

Abstract
This review aims to present the different approaches to lessen the environmental impact of the extrusion-based additive manufacturing (MEX) process of thermoplastic-based resins and protect the ecosystem. The benefits and drawbacks of each alternative, including the use of biomaterials or recycled materials as feedstock, energy efficiency, and polluting emissions reduction, have been examined. First, the technological option of using a pellet-fed printer was compared to a filament-fed printer. Then, common biopolymers utilized in MEX applications are discussed, along with methods for improving the mechanical properties of associated printed products. The introduction of natural fillers in thermoplastic resins and the use of biocomposite filaments have been proposed to improve the specific performance of printed items, highlighting the numerous challenges related to their extrusion. Various polymers and fillers derived from recycling are presented as feeding raw materials for printers to reduce waste accumulation, showing the inferior qualities of the resulting goods when compared to printed products made from virgin materials. Finally, the energy consumption and emissions released into the atmosphere during the printing process are discussed, with the potential for both aspects to be controlled through material selection and operating conditions.

Abstract
The widespread use of conventional plastics in various industries has resulted in increased oil consumption and environmental pollution. To address these issues, a combination of plastic recycling and the use of biodegradable plastics is essential. Among biodegradable polymers, poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT) has attracted significant attention due to its favorable mechanical properties and biodegradability. In this study, we investigated the potential of using PBAT for direct pellet printing, eliminating the need for filament conversion. To determine the optimal printing temperature, three sets of tensile specimens were 3D-printed at varying nozzle temperatures, and their mechanical properties and microstructure were analyzed. Additionally, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) was conducted to evaluate the thermal behavior of the printed PBAT. Furthermore, we designed and printed two structures with different infill percentages (40% and 60%) to assess their compressive strength and energy absorption properties. DMTA revealed that PBAT's glass-rubber transition temperature is approximately -25 °C. Our findings demonstrate that increasing the nozzle temperature enhances the mechanical properties of PBAT. Notably, the highest nozzle temperature of 200 °C yielded remarkable results, with an elongation of 1379% and a tensile strength of 7.5 MPa. Moreover, specimens with a 60% infill density exhibited superior compressive strength (1338 KPa) and energy absorption compared with those with 40% infill density (1306 KPa). The SEM images showed that with an increase in the nozzle temperature, the quality of the print was greatly improved, and it was difficult to find microholes or even a layered structure for the sample printed at 200 °C.

Abstract
3D-printing provides a feasible technique for realizing new materials into structural and intelligent parts. In this work, biomass furan-based polyesters poly (ethylene furanoate) (PEF), poly (trimethylene furanoate) (PTF), and poly (butylene furanoate) (PBF) were successfully synthesized in a 5 L reactor through the melt polycondensation process and fabricated into 3D-printing feedstocks. It was demonstrated that the three furan-based polyesters were additively-manufactured into complicated structures. Besides, the mechanical and thermal properties of furan-based polyesters could be tailored by the chain length of diol monomer. The mechanical performance of 3D-printed PEF, PTF and PBF were characterized and compared with commercial filaments. The tensile strength of PEF and PTF could reach 74.6 and 63.8 MPa respectively, which exhibited superior tensile property to poly(ether-ether-ketone) (PEEK), polyamide (PA) and polylactic acid (PLA). Meanwhile, the compression results demonstrated that the PEF and PTF possessed comparable energy absorption capacity with PEEK and PLA respectively, which indicated excellent mechanical properties of furan-based polyesters. It was interesting to find that the 3D-printed structures including solid cube, bionic flower and lattice structures were employed to prove that the PTF possessed excellent shape memory properties. Therefore, the proposed biomass furan-based polymers would offer more freedom in the field of 3D-printing.

Abstract
Microneedle arrays provide an efficient tool for transdermal drug delivery in a minimally invasive and painless manner, showing great potential applications in medicine. However, it remains challenging to fabricate the desired microneedle arrays, because of their micron-scale size and fine structure. Novel manufacturing technologies are very wanted for the development of microneedle arrays, which would solidly advance the clinical translation of microneedle arrays. 3D printing technology is a powerful manufacturing technology with superiority in fabricating personalized and complex structures. Currently, 3D printing technology has been employed to fabricate microneedle arrays, which could push more microneedle arrays into clinic and inspire the development of future microneedle arrays. This work reviews the art of 3D printing microneedle arrays, the benefits of fabricating microneedle arrays with 3D printing, and the considerations for clinical translation of 3D-printed microneedle arrays. This work provides an overview of the current 3D-printed microneedle arrays in drug delivery.

Abstract
The main problem of manufacturing with traditional biodegradable plastics is that it is more expensive than manufacturing with polymers derived from petroleum, and the application scope is currently limited due to poor comprehensive performance. In this study, a novel biodegradable poly(butylene adipic acid/terephthalate-co-glycolic acid) (PBATGA) copolyester with 25–60% glycolic acid units was successfully synthesized by esterification and polycondensation using cheap coal chemical byproduct methyl glycolate instead of expensive glycolic acid. The structure of the copolyester was characterized by ATR-FTIR, 1H NMR, DSC, and XRD; and its barrier property, water contact angle, heat resistance, and mechanical properties were tested. According to the experiment result, the PBATGA copolyesters showed improved oxygen (O2) and water vapor barrier character, and better hydrophilicity when compared with PBAT. The crystallization peaks of PBATGAs were elevated from 64 °C to 77 °C when the content of the GA unit was 25 mol %, meanwhile, the elongation at the break of PBATGA25 was more than 1300%. These results indicate that PBATGA copolyesters have good potentiality in high O2 and water vapor barrier and degradable packaging material.

Abstract
Fused Granular Fabrication (FGF) or screw-extrusion based 3D printing for polymers is a less diffused alternative to filament-based Additive Manufacturing (AM). Its greatest advantage lies in superior sustainability; in fact, polymer granules can be used to directly feed an FGF printer, reducing the time, cost and energy of producing a part. Moreover, with this technology, a circular economy approach involving the use of pellets made from plastic waste can be easily implemented. Polylactic Acid (PLA) pellets were processed at different printing speeds and with different infill percentages on a customized version of a commercial Prusa i3 Plus 3D printer modified with a Mahor screw extruder. For the characterization of the 3D printed samples, rheological, thermal, mechanical and porosity analyses were carried out. In addition, the energy consumption of the 3D printer was monitored during the production of the specimens. The results showed that a higher printing speed leads to lower energy consumption, without compromising material strength, whereas a slower printing speed is preferable to increase material stiffness.

Abstract
Biodegradable polymeric materials have become the most attractive research interest in recent years and are gradually widely used in various fields in the case of environmental pollution. In this paper, binary blends, mainly including varying contents of polyglycolic acid (PGA) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), were prepared via a melt compounding strategy. The ethylene-methyl acrylate-glycidyl methacrylate (EMA-GMA) was employed as the compatibilizer to improve the compatibility between the PGA and PVA and the polyolefin elastomer (POE) was used as toughening agent. The anti-compression property and water-soluble ability of the blends were particularly studied to explore their potential application in an oil/gas exploitation field. Special attentions were paid to the evolution of the water-soluble ability of PGAX with the PVA concentration. Furthermore, isothermal shear measurement and thermogravimetric analysis were performed to evaluate the thermal stability of PGA and PGA blends (PGAX) during melt processing. The results showed that the incompatibility between PGA and PVA largely deteriorated the mechanical property, i.e., anti-compression strength, leading to fragile characteristics under a lower compressive load for the PGAX samples with varied contents of PVA. The presence of PVA and EMA-GMA greatly enhanced the viscoelasticity of the PGA melt, showing an increased storage modulus and viscosity at a low shear frequency; however, the thermal instability of PGAX was intensified owing to the greater ease of thermal degradation of PVA than that of PGA. Meanwhile, the water-soluble ability of PGAX was improved due to the high water dissolution of PVA, which played the role as a sacrificial material. The purpose of this work is to pursue an effective modification for PGA processing and application via melt blending.

This review presents bioprinting methods, biomaterials, and printing strategies that may be used for composite tissue constructs for musculoskeletal applications. The printing methods discussed include those that are suitable for acellular and cellular components, and the biomaterials include soft and rigid components that are suitable for soft and/or hard tissues. We also present strategies that focus on the integration of cell-laden soft and acellular rigid components under a single printing platform. Given the structural and functional complexity of native musculoskeletal tissue, we envision that hybrid bioprinting, referred to as hybprinting, could provide unprecedented potential by combining different materials and bioprinting techniques to engineer and assemble modular tissues.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to fabricate biodegradable PLA-based composite filaments for 3D printing to manufacture bear-loading lattice structures. First, CaCO3 and TCP as inorganic fillers were incorporated into a PLA matrix to fabricate a series of composite filaments. The material compositions, mechanical properties, and rheology behavior of the PLA/CaCO3 and PLA/TCP filaments were evaluated. Then, two lattice structures, cubic and Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces-Diamond (TPMS-D), were geometrically designed and 3D-printed into fine samples. The axial compression results indicated that the addition of CaCO3 and TCP effectively enhances the compressive modulus and strength of lattice structures. In particular, the TPMS-D structure showed superior load-carrying capacity and specific energy absorption compared to those of its cubic counterparts. Furthermore, the deformation behavior of these two lattice structures was examined by image recording during compression and computed tomography (CT) scanning of samples after compression. It was observed that pore structure could be well held in TPMS-D, while that in cubic structure was destroyed due to the fracture of vertical struts. Therefore, this paper highlights promising 3D-printed biodegradable lattice structures with excellent energy-absorption capacity and high structural stability.
