Abstract
Many clinicians recommend that patients diagnosed with HPV-related gynecologic cancers receive prophylactic HPV vaccination at the time of cancer diagnosis or after cancer treatment. In view of the large use of such practice, we aimed to assess the literature evidence supporting the use of prophylactic HPV vaccines after diagnosis or treatment of HPV-related gynecologic cancers. Women who develop HPV-related cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers represent a subgroup of patients who may be particularly sensitive to HPV infection and re-acquire infections. The rationale that the use of prophylactic HPV vaccination at the time or after treatment for cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers might reduce the risk of future HPV-related diseases might be explained by the data coming from the use of HPV vaccination after treatment of pre-invasive disease; however, the evidence on the use of HPV vaccination in the setting of HPV-related gynecologic cancers is currently absent. In this context, observational and experimental studies document an important drop in effectiveness of HPV vaccination by age. Physicians should be aware of catch-up programs in their countries and should be ready to counsel patients about prophylactic HPV vaccine efficacy according to their age. In general, no evidence exists supporting the use of prophylactic HPV vaccine in patients diagnosed with HPV-related gynecologic cancers; therefore, the European Society of Gynecological Oncology (ESGO) prevention committee opinion is to counsel these patients as any HPV-related non-gynecologic cancer (such as anal or oropharyngeal cancer) and non-cancer patient, suggesting vaccination according to patient's age and prognosis, knowing there is a decrease of efficacy with increasing age. Studies on the use of prophylactic HPV vaccine in patients diagnosed with HPV-related gynecologic cancers are strongly needed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge, awareness, and attitude of mothers of preadolescent girls regarding the HPV vaccination and cervical cancer, and to understand how to improve the efficacy of the Italian vaccination campaign through the gathered data. METHODS A questionnaire-based survey was conducted in mothers of unvaccinated 9 to 12-year-old girls in Italy from November 2018 to July 2019, to evaluate their awareness and the attitude toward HPV, its vaccination, and the information sources of the vaccination campaign. The selection of the distribution sites of the questionnaire was performed with randomization of 50 major places of aggregation located throughout the Italian territory. RESULTS Three hundred mothers of unvaccinated girls were included in the study and divided into two groups (191 subjects <45 years old, 109 subjects >45 years old). Results showed that 79.6% of <45 years old knew what HPV is, compared to 60.6% of >45 years old (P value <0.001); only 60.2% (<45 years old) and 54.1% (>45 years old) showed awareness about the HPV vaccine (P value 0.03). The percentage of parents against vaccination in preadolescent was higher in the >45 years old (29.4%); however, most of them appeared favorable to the information campaigns regarding the vaccine (P value <0.001). CONCLUSIONS Our study showed that mothers of unvaccinated preadolescent girls have suboptimal knowledge on the topic. Moreover, the implementation of communication strategies dedicated to the population segment appears as a central aspect. As HPV vaccination keeps being a public health concern, it is fundamental to understand which trigger should be managed by healthcare decision makers to boost the vaccination campaigns.

Abstract
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a major public health problem worldwide, with a high prevalence between the ages of 15 and 25 in most Western countries. High notification rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis are reported in the WHO European Region, with differences between countries. In Italy, the total number of STIs alerts increased by 18% from 2020 to 2021. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection; globally one in seven women is infected by this virus, and certain sexual behaviors are important risk factors for HPV-related cancers, particularly cervical cancer (CC), anogenital cancers and cancers of the head and neck. The burden of CC is relevant worldwide, in particular in Europe CC is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women aged 15-44. This HPV-related tumor is preventable through a combined strategy of vaccination and screening for precursor lesions. In Italy, the coverage of organized screening varies from region to region and the average HPV vaccination rate is still far from the expected optimal threshold of 95% at the age of 12. To address the challenges of health promotion and HPV prevention, priority actions are needed such as: promoting education and information at every level, from schools to healthcare professionals. In Italy, education of adolescents on sexual and reproductive health, still remains critical, regionally inhomogeneous and much lower than in other European countries. Equitable measures need to be taken, and schools are an important place for health promotion activities.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of AIS and AC in the histological cone of women treated for CIN3. Furthermore, through the study of the specific HR HPV genotypes, we obtained more information on the possible different nature between the single CIN3 lesion and the CIN3 coexisting with the glandular lesion. METHODS A sample of 414 women underwent LEEP for CIN3. The study sample consisted of 370 women with a CIN3 lesion alone and 44 women with a CIN3 lesion coexisting with AIS or adenocarcinoma. We studied the individual HR HPV genotypes and their frequency in the two groups under study. Furthermore, the therapeutic results and follow-ups for the population were studied on the entire study sample. RESULTS In patients with a single CIN3 lesion, 11 high-risk genotypes were detected; in patients with CIN3 associated with AIS or AC, only 4 different genotypes were detected (16, 18, 45, 33). Overall, the frequency of HPV 18 was significantly higher in CIN3 coexisting with AIS compared to solitary CIN3 lesions, χ2 = 27.73 (p < 0.001), while the frequency of other high-risk genotypes was significantly higher in patients with a single CIN3 than in patients with CIN3 coexisting with AIS. In our study population, mixed lesions (CIN3 coexisting with AIS), unlike their squamous counterparts (single CIN3 lesions), were characterized by skip lesions, which demonstrate more aggressive behavior and a higher rate of viral persistence and recurrence. CONCLUSION A relatively high rate (10.7%) of AIS-AC was found in women treated for CIN3. Our study confirms the multifocal biological nature of the CIN3 lesion coexisting with AIS compared to the single CIN3 lesion. All this justifies the different treatments to which CIN3 lesions coexisting with AIS are addressed; in fact, the latter are treated with hysterectomy, while CIN3 is treated with conization alone.

Abstract
AIM Our aim is to evaluate the level of knowledge, compliance with the screening program, and tendency to inform patients of the doctors working in FHCs where HPV testing is performed within the scope of the cervical cancer screening program in our country. METHODS This cross-sectional study was performed between June and September 2022 with 113 family physicians working in different FHCs in different provinces in Turkey. Questionnaires prepared by the researchers were delivered to family physicians via online platforms. RESULTS When the different age groups were evaluated, in two of the 24 knowledge-level questions (How many types of HPV are there? Can HPV infect men?) the rate of correct answers for participants under the age of 35 years was statistically significantly higher (p = 0.007; p = 0.032). With regard to professional experience, the group with fewer than 10 years of experience gave a statistically significant correct answer to two questions (How many types of HPV are there? Can HPV infect men?; p = 0.008; p = 0.037). It was observed that 107 (94.7%) of the 113 family physicians who participated in the survey recommended that their patients use condoms during intercourse, 110 (97.3%) recommended cervical cancer screening tests to patients who applied for another reason, 105 (92.9%) recommended the HPV vaccine to patients and their relatives and 60 (53.1%) recommended the HPV vaccine to patients who applied for another reason. CONCLUSIONS The success of HPV vaccination programs is directly related to the beliefs of health personnel and their recommendations to the general population.

Abstract
It is unknown whether human papillomavirus (HPV) status impacts the prognosis of early stage cervical glandular lesions. This study assessed the recurrence and survival rates of in situ/microinvasive adenocarcinomas (AC) according to HPV status during a 5-year follow-up. The data were retrospectively analyzed in women with available HPV testing before treatment. One hundred and forty-eight consecutive women were analyzed. The number of HPV-negative cases was 24 (16.2%). The survival rate was 100% in all participants. The recurrence rate was 7.4% (11 cases, including four invasive lesions (2.7%)). Cox proportional hazards regression showed no difference in recurrence rate between HPV-positive and HPV-negative cases (p = 0.148). HPV genotyping, available for 76 women and including 9/11 recurrences, showed a higher relapse rate for HPV-18 than HPV-45 and HPV-16 (28.5%, 16.6%, and 9.52%, p = 0.046). In addition, 60% and 75% of in situ and invasive recurrences, respectively, were HPV-18 related. The present study showed that most ACs were positive for high-risk HPV, and the recurrence rate was unaffected by HPV status. More extensive studies could help evaluate whether HPV genotyping may be considered for recurrence risk stratification in HPV-positive cases.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women. It is the leading cause of female deaths in developing countries. Most of these cervical neoplasms are represented by squamous lesions. Cervical adenocarcinoma causes about a quarter of cervical cancers. In contrast to squamous lesions, cervical glandular disease is HPV-negative in about 15-20% of cases. HPV-negative cervical adenocarcinomas typically present in advanced stages at clinical evaluation, resulting in a poorer prognosis. The overall and disease-free survival of glandular lesions is lower than that of squamous lesions. Treatment options require definitive treatments, as fertility-sparing is not recommended. Moreover, the impact of HPV vaccination and primary HPV screening is likely to affect these lesions less; hence, the interest in this challenging topic for clinical practice. An updated review focusing on clinical and molecular characterization, prognostic factors, and therapeutic options may be helpful for properly managing such cervical lesions.

Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination and Oropharyngeal Cancer: Knowledge, Perception and Attitude among Italian Pediatric Dentists. Abstract
Background: Pediatric dentists could play a key role in the prevention of human papilloma virus (HPV)-related oropharyngeal cancer (OP-cancer). The aim of this study was to assess knowledge, perception, and attitude on HPV-related OP-cancer, HPV infection, and HPV vaccination among Italian pediatric dentists. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. Pediatric dentists received, by email, a link to participate in the questionnaire online. The questionnaire comprised four parts: (i) demographic information, (ii) knowledge on HPV-related OP-cancer, HPV infection, and HPV vaccine, (iii–iiii) perceptions and attitude on HPV-related OP-cancer, HPV infection, and HPV vaccine. Data were statistically analyzed with Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney test and Pearson’s chi-square test. Results: A total of 271 pediatric dentists completed the questionnaire. Results showed a good overall knowledge; a positive perception of their role in HPV disease prevention; a good attitude in discussing sensitive topics; a need for acquiring more information about HPV’s connection to cancer, HPV infection, and HPV vaccine. Conclusions: Improving educational training programs, as well as informing about prevention of HPV-related OP-cancer, will place pediatric dentists in the front line of HPV diseases primary prevention.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the emotional path, impact on everyday life, and adequacy of patient education throughout the diagnostic and therapeutic journey of women who received a positive human papillomavirus (HPV) test or Pap smear result.An online survey was designed to determine the demographic characteristics, dominant feelings throughout the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, major lifestyle changes, impact on social life, and perceived adequacy of patient information in Italian women with a positive HPV test or abnormal cervical cytology result. In this study, the phases of the "patient's journey" included the initial test, waiting for colposcopy or biopsy, waiting for surgery, and follow-up.Anxiety, worry, and fear were the most frequently cited emotions during the initial tests and intervals between procedures. Anxiety and fear gradually decreased during the journey until surgery, and higher levels of optimism were observed postsurgery. The most frequently reported lifestyle changes were attempts to boost the immune system, increased precautions in sexual practices, and dietary changes. Social life is affected by changes in sexual and intimate relationships with partners. Women reported receiving insufficient patient education on the diagnosis and its implications, progression, management, personal care, and resolution.Significant attention should be given to the psychosocial aspects of the entire patient journey after receiving a positive HPV test or an abnormal Pap smear result. It is essential to establish a good rapport between patients and healthcare professionals, and to educate women regarding the condition by minimizing the gap between the perceived and desired adequacy of information.

Abstract
The combination of primary and secondary prevention has already influenced the colposcopic practice by reduction in HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine-type HSIL (HIGH-GRADE SIL), colposcopy referral numbers, colposcopic positive predictive value (PPV) for CIN2+, and by modification of referral pattern, colposcopic performance, and procedures. Different strategies, both isolated and combined, have been proposed in order to maintain the diagnostic accuracy of colposcopy: patient risk stratification based on immediate or future risk of CIN3+ or on HPV genotyping after a positive screening test. Data are needed to support alternative colposcopic strategies based on vaccination status and on the application of artificial intelligence where the patient's risk stratification is implicit in precision medicine which involves the transition from an operator-dependent morphology-based to a less-operator dependent, more biomolecular management. The patient's risk stratification based on any combination of "history" and "test results" to decrease colposcopy workload further reduce colposcopic and histologic morphological approaches, while adding genotyping to the risk stratification paradigm means less cytologic morphologic diagnosis. In Italy, there is a strong colposcopic tradition and there is currently no immediate need to reduce the number of colposcopies. Instead, there is a need for more accredited colposcopists to maintain the diagnostic accuracy of colposcopy in the vaccination era.

Abstract
Aim In the post-vaccination era, the starting age and time intervals of cervical screening could change (older age and longer screening intervals). This scenario may be achieved by significantly reducing human papillomavirus (HPV) 16/18 prevalence (genotypes included in the current vaccines). In this regard, assessing the trend over time of these HPV infections in high-grade cervical lesions can provide information on the objective. The present study aimed to evaluate the trend of HPV 16/18 over the years 2007–2018 in women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade 3. Methods This is a retrospective multi-institutional study including HPV genotyped and unvaccinated women under 30 with CIN3. The sample was divided into the following periods: 2007–2010, 2011–2014, 2015–2018. HPV genotypes were grouped in genotypes 16/18, genotypes 31/33/35/52/58/67 (genetically related to HPV16), genotypes 39/45/59/68/70 (genetically related to HPV18), genotypes 31/33/45/52/58 (high-risk types included in the nonavalent vaccine), possibly carcinogenic HPV (genotypes 26/30/53/67/70/73/82/85), low-risk HPV (genotypes 6/11/40/42/43/44/54/55/61). The trend between periods and HPV genotypes was measured using the Cochran–Armitage test for trend. Results The final analysis included 474 participants. HPV 16/18 prevalence decreased significantly over the years (77.8% vs 68.9% vs 66.0%, respectively, Ptrend=0.027). Possibly carcinogenic HPV (genotypes 26/30/53/67/70/73/82/85) showed a significant negative prevalence trend over time (4.9% vs 1.1% vs 1.3%, respectively, Ptrend=0.046). Finally, there was a significant positive trend over the years for high-risk HPV genotypes 31/33/45/52/58 in women under 25 (9.9% vs 17.0% vs 24.0%, respectively, Ptrend=0.048). Conclusion The prevalence of CIN3 lesions related to HPV 16/18 genotypes decreased over time from 2007 to 2018. These data highlight a herd effect of the HPV vaccine. However, fifteen years after HPV vaccine introduction, we are still a long way from herd immunity. The increase in high-risk types 31/33/45/52/58 will need to be reassessed when the nonavalent vaccine impact will be more reliable.

Abstract
Background: This study evaluates the possible effect of 9-valent (9vHPV) vaccination on the results of HPV and cytological tests in a cohort of adult women. Methods: This study is a retrospective, single-cohort, monocentric study. Sexually active women aged 14-70 years, who underwent 9vHPV vaccination, were enrolled. Dose administration dates, side effects and data on Pap smears and HPV tests performed before and after the first vaccine dose were collected. Subjects were considered "unexposed" to the vaccine for all time intervals before the first dose administration, and "exposed" to the first, second and third vaccine doses in all time intervals following each specific dose. Results: A total of 512 women underwent the first 9vHPV dose administration and were enrolled in the study. Median age at vaccination was 30.5 (14-70). Log-rank tests and Cox regression analyses showed a highly statistically significant (p < 0.0001) difference in the time to negativization after the exposure to the third vaccine dose in the 207 women starting with a Pap+ smear (HR (95% C.I.), 2.66 (1.83-3.86)) and in the 198 women starting with an HPV HR+ test (HR (95% C.I.), 7.80 (4.83-12.60)). Conclusions: 9vHPV vaccination may play a role in shortening the clearance time of HPV HR+ or Pap positivity in sexually active adult women.

Abstract
Background Human papillomavirus (HPV) is linked to various cancers in males and females. The prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV vary depending on geographical region and the immunity provided by vaccines. Investigation of HPV epidemiology is of great meaning for the development of prevention programs. Methods From January 2017 to September 2019, using PCR-reverse dot blot hybridisation, we determined the HPV subtypes in 2801 patients 17-89 years old at the sexually transmitted diseases (STD) clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. Results The HPV infection rate was 50.79% in males and 50.64% in females. The most common HPV genotype in males and females was HPV6 (30.15% and 30.43%), followed by HPV16 (18.76% and 20.65%) and HPV11 (14.61% and 15.67%). Infection with a single HPV subtype predominated in both males and females, and the rate in males was higher than in females. By contrast, the rate of high-risk HPV (hrHPV) and low-risk HPV (lrHPV) mixed infection in females was higher than in males. Most HPV-positive patients were 20-39 years of age. The prevalence of infection with only hrHPV differed among the age groups; the peak age was 50 to 59 years. Conclusion The HPV prevalence was higher among the STD clinic outpatients than the general population. Therefore, a large-scale survey of high-risk populations is needed. It is anticipated that HPV vaccines, regular education and physical examinations may have a significant impact on the prevention of HPV-related diseases in high-risk groups.

Human Papillomavirus Distribution in Women with Abnormal Pap Smear and/or Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia in Vaccination Era. A Single-Center Study in the North Italian Population. Abstract
Time trends prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes including negative and untypable infections were analyzed during a 15-year period (2005–2019) among 5807 subjects with abnormal pap-smears and/or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). The rates of HPV16 dropped by 13% every 3 years (Prevalence Ratio, PR = 0.87, 95% CI = 0.82–0.93) in the CIN1 biopsy, while HPV16 status was unchanged over time in the CIN2+ biopsy. In CIN1 lesions, there was a corresponding increase of HR-HPV types unrelated to nonavalent vaccine. The rates of HPV 18, 31, and 52, decreased by 35% (PR = 0.65, 95% CI = 0.54–0.79), 19% (PR = 0.81, 95% CI = 0.73–0.91), and 21% (PR = 0.79, 95% CI = 0.73–0.86) every 3-year interval in CIN2+, respectively. Overall, the prevalence of negative/untypable HPV specimens in the entire database increased from 9.6% (129/1349) in the period 2011–2013 to 17.6% (161/913) and 28.4% (224/790) in the 2014–2016 period and in the 2017–2019 period, respectively (PR = 1.69, 95% CI = 1.52–1.88). HPV 16 prevalence decreased significantly among subjects with low-grade cervical squamous lesions. A significant increase of both HPV types unrelated to nonavalent vaccination and negative/untypable HPV infections was reported. The prevalence of HPV types among subjects with abnormal pap smears in Northern Italy is changing. Many variables including demographic factors and possibly vaccination could be responsible for this modification.

Abstract
AIM Cervical cancer prevention guidelines include Human Papillomavirus (HPV) test, cytology, and HPV-16/18 typing for triage to determine the risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade 3 as the best proxy of cervical cancer risk. In doing that, they do not consider how age can modify the type-specific risk of CIN3. The present study aimed to evaluate the age-related distribution of HPV genotypes affecting the risk-assessment in cervical cancer screening programs: non-screening-type-HPV and non-HPV-16/18 in unvaccinated women with CIN3. METHODS Retrospective multi-institutional study, including HPV genotyped women with CIN3 on cone histology treated between 2014 and 2019. The sample was divided into three categories of age: <30, 30-44, ≥45. HPV genotypes were grouped in non-screening-type-HPV (not-including genotypes 16/18/31/33/35/39/45/51/52/56/58/59/66/68) and non-HPV-16/18. Associations and trends between different age-groups and HPV genotypes were measured. RESULTS 1332 women were analyzed. Non-screening-type-HPV CIN3 were 73 (5.5%). Non-HPV-16/18 were found in 417 participants (31.3%). Women over 45 associated with non-screening-type HPV [odds ratio (OR) = 1.87, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.07-3.25; p = 0.027]. Non-screening-type-HPV prevalence increased significantly with age (3.9% vs 5.1% vs 9.0%, p = 0.016). Women under 30 showed a lower rate of non-HPV-16/18 (OR = 0.65, 95% CI 0.47-0.89; p = 0.007). There was a positive trend with age of non-HPV-16/18 CIN3 (23.6% vs 32.1% vs 38.0%, p = 0.0004). CONCLUSION The proportion of CIN3 lesions unrelated to genotypes detected by primary screening tests increased with age. This implies that age probably modifies the risk of CIN3 and possibly of cancer associated with HPV types. The risk-based recommendation should take into consideration age to define the management of HPV positive women.

Abstract
Data suggest that adjuvant human papillomavirus (HPV)-vaccination in women treated for cervical HPV diseases reduces recurrent disease. This study investigates adjuvant HPV-vaccination and the rate of recurrence in women undergoing surgery for vulvar high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). From January 2013 to April 2020, we enrolled 149 women in a prospective case-control study. The control group (NV-group) was treated by standard surgery alone, while the study group received adjuvant vaccination soon after surgery (V-group). A follow-up was performed by vulvoscopy and HPV test. Statistical analysis was performed by Fisher's exact test. HSIL recurrence was observed in 24/76 (32%) patients in NV-group and in 8/42 patients (19%) of the vaccinated group. By analysing the recurrence rate related to the incident and reactivated latent HPV infection, we found a significant difference between (17/76) 22.3% in NV-group and (2/42) 4.8% in V-group (p = 0.01). A reduction of 78.5% in incident/reactivated HPV infections was demonstrated. Data results add to the current knowledge about the mechanism of post-surgical adjuvant HPV vaccination. Our prospective study is the first to document the vaccine clinical effectiveness in preventing "reactivation" of latent HPV infections. Quadrivalent HPV vaccine administered after the surgical treatment for vulvar HSIL appears to be useful in preventing recurrent disease.

Abstract
Recommendations for HPV vaccines were suspended in 2013 due to unfounded safety fears in Japan. We aimed to clarify the differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated females in their awareness, knowledge, and behaviors toward cervical cancer, HPV vaccination and sex. Questionnaires were administered online to women aged 16 to 20. We conducted investigations for the following: awareness, knowledge, and actions for cervical cancer, HPV vaccination, and sexual activity, as well as items related to participants’ social background. The survey in 828 girls revealed three points. The first is that more than half of the surveyed Japanese girls had poor knowledge about cervical cancer screening, HPV, or HPV vaccines. The second is that those in the unvaccinated group had a particularly poor knowledge of the subject and tended to have higher sexual activity. The final is that only 0.5% of the girls experienced changes in awareness about sexual activity after vaccination. In conclusion, this is the first large-scale survey analyzing the association between HPV vaccination and sexual activity in Japanese girls. Not only do unvaccinated girls not benefit from vaccines, but they also tend to engage in high-risk sexual behavior, and thus it is even more important to provide information on the effectiveness of vaccines and the usefulness of cancer screening.

Abstract
There are >200 different types of human papilloma virus (HPV) of which >51 infect genital epithelium, with ~14 of these classed as high-risk being more commonly associated with cervical cancer. During development of the disease, high-risk types have an increased tendency to develop a truncated non-replicative life cycle, whereas low-risk, non-cancer-associated HPV types are either asymptomatic or cause benign lesions completing their full replicative life cycle. HPVs can also be present as non-replicative so-called “latent” infections and they can also show superinfection exclusion, where cells with pre-existing infections with one type cannot be infected with a different HPV type. Thus, the HPV repertoire and replication status present in an individual can form a complex dynamic meta-community which changes with respect to both time and exposure to different HPV types. In light of these considerations, it is not clear how current prophylactic HPV vaccines will affect this system and the potential for iatrogenic outcomes is discussed in light of recent outcome data.

Abstract
We previously conducted a randomized controlled study to examine persuasive messages recommending HPV vaccination to mothers with daughters in Japan. That study showed that the three types of intervention message used (statistical information only, a patient's narrative in addition to statistical information, and a mother's narrative in addition to statistical information) all significantly improved mothers' intention to have their daughter(s) receive the HPV vaccine, in comparison with mothers who received no messaging. The present study is a follow-up survey to assess the long-term effect of the intervention. Four months after the initial study, in January 2018, participants in the previous study were contacted and queried about their current intention to have their daughter(s) receive the HPV vaccine. Statistical analysis was conducted using the paired t-test and analysis of variance. A total of 978 mothers participated in the current survey. Vaccination intention 4 months after intervention had decreased to a level that did not differ significantly from the level prior to intervention in all three intervention conditions. The amount of change in vaccination intention 4 months after intervention did not differ significantly among the three intervention groups (p = 0.871). A single exposure to messaging was insufficient to produce a persistent intervention effect.

Abstract
Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are small DNA tumor viruses that mainly infect mucosal epithelia of anogenital and upper respiratory tracts. There has been progressive demand for more analytical assays for HPV DNA quantification. A novel droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) method was developed to simultaneously detect and quantify HPV DNA from different HPV types. DdPCR was initially tested for assay sensitivity, accuracy, specificity as well as intra- and inter-run assay variation employing four recombinant plasmids containing HPV16, HPV18, HPV11, and HPV45 DNAs. The assay was extended to investigate/quantify HPV DNA in Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN, n = 45) specimens and human cell lines (n = 4). DdPCR and qPCR data from clinical samples were compared. The assay showed high accuracy, sensitivity and specificity, with low intra-/inter- run variations, in detecting/quantifying HPV16/18/11/45 DNAs. HPV DNA was detected in 51.1% (23/45) CIN DNA samples by ddPCR, whereas 40% (18/45) CIN tested HPV-positive by qPCR. Five CIN, tested positive by ddPCR, were found to be negative by qPCR. In CIN specimens, the mean HPV DNA loads determined by ddPCR were 3.81 copy/cell (range 0.002-51.02 copy/cell), whereas 8.04 copy/cell (range 0.003-78.73 copy/cell) by qPCR. DdPCR and qPCR concordantly detected HPV DNA in SiHa, CaSki and Hela cells, whereas HaCaT tested HPV-negative. The correlation between HPV DNA loads simultaneously detected by ddPCR/qPCR in CINs/cell lines was good (R 2 = 0.9706, p < 0.0001). Our data indicate that ddPCR is a valuable technique in quantifying HPV DNA load in CIN specimens and human cell lines, thereby improving clinical applications, such as patient management after primary diagnosis of HPV-related lesions with HPV-type specific assays.

Abstract
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is a well-known fundamental strategy in the prevention of cervical cancer, as it is always caused by HPV infection. In fact, primary prevention of the infection corresponds to primary prevention of HPV-related cancers and other diseases. Since an effective prevention at the population level is the final goal, it is mandatory for healthcare systems to achieve a high HPV vaccination coverage among the adolescents to reduce the circulation of the virus and the burden of HPV-related diseases. This research identified, through a systematic literature review, 38 papers on strategies adopted to increase HPV vaccination coverage among adolescents. The evaluated strategies targeted adolescents/parents and/or healthcare providers and could be grouped in three main types: (1) reminder-based, (2) education, information, and communication activities, and (3) multicomponent strategies. Several types of strategy, such as those relied only on reminders and integrating different interventions, showed a positive impact on vaccination coverage. Nonetheless, the heterogeneity of the interventions suggests the importance to adapt such strategies to the specific national/local contexts to maximize vaccination coverage.
