Abstract
Background miRNAs are small, conserved, single-stranded non-coding RNA that are typically transported by exosomes for their functional roles. The therapeutic potential of exosomal miRNAs has been explored in various diseases including breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, skin diseases, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and glioma. Pathophysiological processes such as cellular inflammation, apoptosis, necrosis, immune dysfunction, and oxidative stress are closely associated with miRNAs. Internal and external factors such as tissue ischemia, hypoxia, pathogen infection, and endotoxin exposure can trigger these reactions and are linked to miRNAs. Paraquat-induced fibrosis is a protracted process that may not manifest immediately after injury but develops during bodily recovery, providing insights into potential miRNA intervention treatments. Rationale These findings could potentially be applied for further pharmaceutical research and clinical therapy of paraquat-induced pulmonary fibrosis, and are likely to be of great interest to clinicians involved in lung fibrosis research. Methodology Through a literature review, we identified an association between miR-15a-5p and miR-152-3p and their involvement in the Wnt signaling pathway. This allowed us to deduce the molecular mechanisms underlying regulatory interactions involved in paraquat-induced lung fibrosis. Results miR-15a-5p and miR-152-3p play roles in body repair processes, and pulmonary fibrosis can be considered a form of reparative response by the body. Although the initial purpose of fibrotic repair is to restore normal body function, excessive tissue fibrosis, unlike scar formation following external skin trauma, can significantly and adversely affect the body. Modulating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is beneficial in alleviating tissue fibrosis in various diseases. Conclusions In this study, we delineate the association between miR-15a-5p and miR-152-3p and the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, presenting a novel concept for addressing paraquat-induced pulmonary fibrosis.

Abstract
Atherosclerosis commonly remains undiagnosed until disease manifestations occur. The disease is associated with dysregulated micro(mi)RNAs, but how this is linked to atherosclerosis-related immune reactions is largely unknown. A mouse model of carotid atherosclerosis, human APOB100-transgenic Ldlr-/- (HuBL), was used to study the spatiotemporal dysregulation of a set of miRNAs. Middle-aged HuBL mice with established atherosclerosis had decreased levels of miR-143-3p in their carotid arteries. In young HuBL mice, early atherosclerosis was observed in the carotid bifurcation, which had lower levels of miR-15a-5p, miR-143-3p, and miR-199a-3p, and higher levels of miR-155-5p. The dysregulation of these miRNAs was reflected by specific immune responses during atheroprogression. Finally, levels of miR-143-3p were 70.6% lower in extracellular vesicles isolated from the plasma of patients with carotid stenosis compared to healthy controls. Since miR-143-3p levels progressively decrease when transitioning between early and late experimental carotid atherosclerosis, we propose it as a biomarker for atherosclerosis.

Abstract
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a severe and incurable neurodegenerative disease characterized by the progressive death of motor neurons, leading to paralysis and death. It is a rare disease characterized by high patient-to-patient heterogeneity, which makes its study arduous and complex. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have emerged as important players in the development of ALS. Thus, ALS phenotype-expressing cells can spread their abnormal bioactive cargo through the secretion of EVs, even in distant tissues. Importantly, owing to their nature and composition, EVs' formation and cargo can be exploited for better comprehension of this elusive disease and identification of novel biomarkers, as well as for potential therapeutic applications, such as those based on stem cell-derived exosomes. This review highlights recent advances in the identification of the role of EVs in ALS etiopathology and how EVs can be promising new therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
Introduction Endometrial cancer is a hormone-dependent malignancy, and sex steroid hormones play a crucial role in its pathogenesis. Recent studies have demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) can regulate the expression of sex steroid hormone receptors and modulate hormone signaling pathways. Our aim is to provide an overview of the current understanding of the role of miRNAs in endometrial cancer regulated by sex steroid hormone pathways. Methods A thorough literature search was carried out in the PubMed database. The articles published from 2018 to the present were included. Keywords related to miRNAs, endometrial cancer, and sex steroid hormones were used in the search. Results Dysregulation of miRNAs has been linked to abnormal sex steroid hormone signaling and the development of endometrial cancer. Various miRNAs have been identified as modulators of estrogen and progesterone receptor expression, and the miRNA expression profile has been shown to be a predictor of response to hormone therapy. Additionally, specific miRNAs have been implicated in the regulation of genes involved in hormone-related signaling pathways, such as the PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK/ERK pathways. Conclusion The regulation of sex steroid hormones by miRNAs is a promising area of research in endometrial cancer. Future studies should focus on elucidating the functional roles of specific miRNAs in sex steroid hormone signaling and identifying novel miRNA targets for hormone therapy in endometrial cancer management.

Abstract
Various studies have manifested that microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the modulation of the occurrence and development of osteosarcoma (OS). However, whether miR-22-3p is associated with OS growth remains unclear. In the study, the potential molecular mechanisms of miR-22-3p in OS was explored. It was affirmed that miR-22-3p was associated with distant metastasis and tumor size in OS patients, and reduced in OS tissues and cells while transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) was elevated. Elevated miR-22-3p repressed OS cell progression, and the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, while elevated TCF7L2 was opposite. MiR-22-3p targeted TCF7L2 in OS. In functional rescue experiments, knockdown of miR-22-3p on OS progression and promotion of Wnt/β-catenin were reversed by simultaneous knockdown of TCF7L2. Transplantation experiments in nude mice showed that elevated miR-22-3p repressed OS tumor growth and decreased TCF7L2, Wnt and β-catenin. Shortly, this study suggest that miR-22-3p refrains the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by targeting TCF7L2 and thereby preventing OS deterioration. MiR-22-3p/TCF7L2 axis is supposed to be a candidate molecular target for future OS treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recent studies have shown that the microRNA-15a-5p (miR-15a-5p) plays varying roles in different malignancies. However, to date, the role and prognostic value of miR-15a-5p in patients with endometrial cancer has not been explored. This study investigated the expression level of miR-15a-5p in endometrial carcinoma and its prognostic value. METHODS A total of 108 patients with endometrial cancer treated in our hospital from January 2015 to January 2016 were enrolled in this study. The patients were followed up for 5 years. Patients who experienced recurrence or metastasis after surgery were assigned into the recurrence and metastasis group (n=45) and the remaining patients were assigned into the control group (n=63). The expression level of microRNA-15a-5p in endometrial cancer was analyzed. Furthermore, the correlation between the expression of miR-15a-5p and the pathological features and prognosis was examined. RESULTS The expression of miR-15a-5p in endometrial carcinoma was significantly lower than that in adjacent healthy tissues (2.22±0.75 vs. 2.59±0.91, P=0.000). Furthermore, the expression of miR-15a-5p in the endometrial cancer tissues of patients in the recurrence and metastasis group was significantly lower than that observed in patients in the control group (1.91±0.62 vs. 2.45±0.75, P=0.000). The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to analyze the predictive value of miR-15a-5p in endometrial cancer tissue for postoperative recurrence or metastasis in endometrial cancer patients. The area under the curve was 0.690 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.601 to 0.798, P=0.000], the best cut-off value of diagnosis was 2.325, the sensitivity was 0.619, and the specificity was 0.733. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that miR-15a-5p expression <2.325 was a risk factor for postoperative recurrence or metastasis of endometrial cancer [odds ratio (OR) =3.544 (95% CI: 1.489 to 8.436), P=0.004]. Furthermore, the expression of miR-15a-5p in endometrial carcinoma was correlated with lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, and patient mortality. CONCLUSIONS The expression of miR-15a-5p in endometrial carcinoma is related to lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, and mortality. Furthermore, the expression of miR-15a-5p was significantly decreased in endometrial cancer patients with recurrence or metastasis and thus, miR-15a-5p may have certain value in predicting postoperative recurrence or metastasis in such patients.

Abstract
Tumor-derived exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) serve a vital biological role in tumorigenesis and development, but the effects and underlying mechanisms remain unclear. To explore the impact of exosomal miR-433 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and understand its mechanism of action in NSCLC progression, the present study isolated the exosomes from the plasma of patients with NSCLC after chemotherapy and found that miR-433 expression was lower in plasma of patients with resistant NSCLC compared with in plasma of patients with sensitive NSCLC and in normal serum. Additionally, miR-433 expression was markedly negatively associated with a large tumor size, distant metastasis, advanced TNM stage and a poor prognosis in patients with NSCLC. miR-433 inhibited tumor growth by blocking the cell cycle in vitro and in vivo, as well as by promoting apoptosis and T-cell infiltration in the tumor microenvironment. Additionally, miR-433 inhibited chemoresistance to cisplatin by regulating DNA damage. Moreover, miR-433 inactivated the WNT/β-catenin signaling pathway by targeting transmembrane p24 trafficking protein 5 in NSCLC. Overall, the current findings may provide a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for patients with NSCLC.
