Abstract
Background and Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify specific rhino- and oropharyngeal microbiological pathogens as well as associated comorbidities that favor SARS-CoV-2 infection and corelate them. Materials and Methods: This prospective clinical study enrolled 61 patients (28 COVID-19-positive and 33 controls) who were tested for other comorbidities and co-existence of associated oral pathogenic microbiota. Results: A total of 247 bacterial isolates were identified in the bacterial cultures in both groups. Viral hepatitis type A was more prevalent in the COVID-19-positive group (p = 0.026), as was the presence of oral candidiasis (p = 0.006). In the control group, a moderate direct relationship was observed between the Beta hemolytic streptococcus group G and dermatitis, and strong direct relationships were observed between the Beta hemolytic streptococcus group G and external otitis, Streptococcus pyogenes and dental alveolitis, and Streptococcus pyogenes and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. In the test group, strong direct relationships were observed between Hemophilus influenzae and pulmonary thromboembolism; Staphylococcus aureus and autoimmune thyroiditis; post-viral immunosuppression, chronic coronary syndrome, and hypernatremia; Beta hemolytic streptococcus group C and rheumatoid polyneuropathy; Beta hemolytic streptococcus group G and hyperkalemia, hypothyroidism, secondary anemia, and splenomegaly; and active oral candidiasis and SARS-CoV-2 viral pneumonia. The following relationships were strong, but inverse: Beta hemolytic streptococcus group G and acute respiratory failure, and active oral candidiasis and SARS-CoV-2 viral bronchopneumonia. Conclusions: Briefly, COVID-19-positive patients have the predisposition to build up associated comorbidities and coinfections, which can be the expression of the immune burden that this virus generates to the host.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Streptococcus anginosus is an emergence opportunistic pathogen that colonize the human upper respiratory tract (URT), S. anginosus alongside with S. intermedius and S. constellatus, members of S. anginosus group, are implicated in several human infections. However, our understanding this bacterium to the genotype level with determining the genes associated with pathogenicity and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is scarce. S. anginosus 47S1 strain was isolated from sore throat infection, the whole genome was characterized and the virulence & AMR genes contributing in pathogenicity were investigated. METHODOLOGY The whole genome of 47S1 was sequenced by Illumina sequencing technology. Strain 47S1 genome was de novo assembled with different strategies and annotated via PGAP, PROKKA and RAST pipelines. Identifying the CRISPR-Cass system and prophages sequences was performed using CRISPRloci and PhiSpy tools respectively. Prediction the virulence genes were performed with the VFDB database. AMR genes were detected in silico using NCBI AMRFinderPlus pipeline and CARD database and compared with in vitro AST findings. RESULTS β-hemolytic strain 47S1 was identified with conventional microbiology techniques and confirmed by the sequences of 16S rRNA gene. Genome of 47S1 comprised of 1981512 bp. Type I-C CRISPR-Cas system and 4 prophages were detected among the genome of 47S1. Several virulence genes were predicted, most of these genes are found in other pathogenic streptococci, mainly lmb, pavA, htrA/degP, eno, sagA, psaA and cpsI which play a significant role in colonizing, invading host tissues and evade form immune system. In silico AMR findings showed that 47S1 gnome harbors (tetA, tetB &tet32), (aac(6')-I, aadK &aph(3')-IVa), fusC, and PmrA genes that mediated-resistance to tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, fusidic acid, and fluoroquinolone respectively which corresponds with in vitro AST obtained results. In conclusion, WGS is a key approach to predict the virulence and AMR genes, results obtained in this study may contribute for a better understanding of the opportunistic S. anginosus pathogenicity.

Abstract
Initially recognized zoonoses, streptococci belonging to Lancefield group C (GCS) and G (GGS) were subsequently recognised as human pathogens causing a diverse range of symptoms, from asymptomatic carriage to life threatening diseases. Their taxonomy has changed during the last decade. Asymptomatic carriage is <4% amongst the human population and invasive infections are often in association with chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases or chronic skin infections. Other clinical manifestations include acute pharyngitis, pneumonia, endocarditis, bacteraemia and toxic-shock syndrome. Post streptococcal sequalae such as rheumatic fever and acute glomerulonephritis have also been described but mainly in developed countries and amongst specific populations. Putative virulence determinants for these organisms include adhesins, toxins, and other factors that are essential for dissemination in human tissues and for interference with the host immune responses. High nucleotide similarities among virulence genes and their association with mobile genetic elements supports the hypothesis of extensive horizontal gene transfer events between the various pyogenic streptococcal species belonging to Lancefield groups A, C and G. A better understanding of the mechanisms of pathogenesis should be apparent by whole-genome sequencing, and this would result in more effective clinical strategies for the pyogenic group in general.

Abstract
This review highlights the clinical scoring tools used for the management of acute pharyngotonsillitis in primary care clinics. It will include the prevalence of group A pharyngotonsillitis among children and adults worldwide and the selective tests employed for diagnosing group A streptococcal pharyngotonsillitis. Pharyngotonsillitis is one of the common reasons for visits to primary care clinics worldwide, and physicians tend to prescribe antibiotics according to the clinical symptoms, which leads to overprescribing antibiotics. This in turn may lead to serious health impacts and severe reactions and may promote antibiotic resistance. These significantly add on to the health care costs. The available information from health organisations and previous studies has indicated the need to manage the diagnosis of pharyngotonsillitis to improve prescribing habits in primary care clinics.

Abstract
We present a paediatric case of group G streptococcal bacteraemia and vertebral osteomyelitis. The patient is a 14-year-old girl with Gaucher disease type 1 who presented with severe thoracolumbar pain. She was treated with a 4-week course of antibiotics for presumed osteomyelitis with clinical improvement.
