Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has clearly had a great influence on the lifestyles of the population, especially on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. During the COVID-19 outbreak, many countries/regions implemented social-isolation measures, leading to an increase in negative behaviors and impairing the capability of diabetic patients to resist COVID-19, ultimately causing severe prognoses. Moreover, as the epidemic progressed, multiple studies emphasized the significance of physical exercise in the management of type 2 diabetic patients infected with COVID-19. In this study, we selected research from 1 December 2019 to 9 August 2023 that focused on COVID-19-infected diabetic patients to investigate the impact of type 2 diabetes on the immune functions, inflammation factor levels, lung injuries, and mental disorders of such patients, as well as to assess the risk of novel coronavirus pneumonia in these patients. Additionally, the effects of high-intensity, moderate-intensity, and low-intensity exercises on novel coronavirus pneumonia infection in type 2 diabetic patients and the mechanisms of the effects of such exercise were considered. We concluded that elderly diabetic patients with COVID-19 should perform low-intensity exercises to facilitate their recoveries. This study offers guidance for a proper understanding of the dangers of diabetes and the use of appropriate measures to reduce the risk of novel coronavirus pneumonia infections in type 2 diabetic patients.

Abstract
The objective was to summarize the scientific literature on the anthropometric characteristics of female futsal players. A systematic review documentary study was carried out. SCOPUS, PUBMED and SCIELO databases were used to search for information on primary studies related to the anthropometric profile of women's indoor soccer (elite and non-elite). The keywords used were: futsal, female, anthropometry. The range of years for the search was from 2010 to 2020. To analyze anthropometric differences, two groups were formed: group A: elite and group B: non-elite. 31 primary studies were identified, 22 (71%) in Scopus, 5 (16.1%) in PUBMED and 4 (12.9%) in SCIELO. Three publication languages were considered (English, Spanish and Portuguese) and 6 countries were identified (Brazil, Spain, Iran, Turkey, Venezuela and Italy). Players in the elite group evidenced higher weight, height, and BMI relative to their non-elite counterparts. Discrepancy in anthropometric characteristics between elite and non-elite players was verified. These results suggest that in order to participate in competitions at the highest level in women's futsal, they should have greater weight, height and BMI than their non-elite counterparts.

Abstract
The contextual factors related to training tasks can play an important role in how a player performs and, subsequently, in how a player trains to face a competition. To date, there has been no study that has investigated the most demanding exercise in different training tasks in female futsal. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the most demanding efforts during different training tasks in a cohort study conducted in professional biological women futsal players using principal component analysis (PCA). A total of 14 elite women futsal players (age = 24.34 ± 4.51 years; height = 1.65 ± 0.60 m; body mass = 63.20 ± 5.65 kg) participated in this study. Seventy training sessions of an elite professional women’s team were registered over five months (pre-season and in-season). Different types of exercises were grouped into six clusters: preventive exercises; analytical situations; exercises in midcourt; exercises in ¾ of the court; exercises in full court; superiorities/inferiorities. Each exercise cluster was composed of 5–7 principal components (PCs), considering from 1 to 5 main variables forming each, explaining from 65 to 75% of the physical total variance. A total of 13–19 sub-variables explained the players’ efforts in each training task group. The first PCs to explain the total variance of training load were as follows: preventive exercises (accelerations; ~31%); analytical situations (impacts; ~23%); exercises in midcourt (high-intensity efforts; ~28%); exercises in ¾ of the court (~27%) and superiorities/inferiorities (~26%) (aerobic/anaerobic components); exercises in full court (anaerobic efforts; ~24%). The PCs extracted from each exercise cluster provide evidence that may assist researchers and coaches during training load monitoring. The descriptive values of the training load support a scientific base to assist coaches in the planning of training schedules.

Abstract
Duration, intensity, and type of exercise can affect serum cytokine levels and change inflammatory indices. The present study aimed to examine the acute effect of two different exercise intensity programs on levels of circulating interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β and tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in athletes. Eleven female futsal players aged 20.6±1.2 years completed this cross-over study. Participants performed, either a MI (moderate intensity: 60-65%) or a HI (high intensity: 75-80% heart rate reserve) exercise program. The study was performed on different days separated by a 1-week washout period. Each session consisted of 30 min running, either MI or HI. Blood samples were taken before (Pre) and immediately after (Post) each exercise session from an antecubital vein by venous puncture in a seated position. A Student’s t-test (P<0.05) was used to examine any difference between Pre and Post values. The results showed that IL-6 (P=0.22), IL-1β (P=0.90) and TNF-α (P=0.63) serum concentrations were not significantly different after moderate-intensity exercise. Similarly, high-intensity exercise did not significantly change serum concentrations of TNF-α (P=0.63), and IL-1β (P=0.18). However, HI caused a significant increase in IL-6 (P=0.04). A significant correlation was observed only between IL-1β and IL-6 (r=-0.761, P=0.01) after MI exercise. Based on the findings of the present study, the intensity of exercise can affect some cytokines, such as IL-6 in female futsal players.

Abstract
Background This paper aimed to verify how a supplementation of rower’s diet with Astragalus Membranaceus Root (AMR) modulated their immune system response to maximal physical exertion. Methods The double-blind study included 18 members of the Polish Rowing Team assigned to the supplemented group (n = 10), and the placebo group (n = 8). The participants performed a 2000 m test on a rowing ergometer at the beginning and at the end of the six-week of intensive training camp during which the supplemented group received 500 mg of AMR. Blood samples were obtained prior to, 1 min after completing, and 24 h after the exertion test. The levels of interleukin 2 (IL2), interleukin 4 (IL4), interleukin 10 (IL10), interferon ɤ (IFN-ɣ), and lactic acid were determined. Subpopulations of T regulatory lymphocytes [CD4+/CD25+/CD127−] (Treg), cytotoxic lymphocytes [CD8+/TCRαβ+] (CTL), natural killer cells [CD3−/CD16+/CD56+] (NK), and TCRδγ-positive cells (Tδγ) were determined with flow cytometry. Results After the camp, the initial NK and Treg levels sustained at the baseline, while Tδγ counts increased relative to the levels in the placebo group. In the supplemented subgroup, a decrease in IL2 level in reaction to maximal exertion clearly deepened while the change in IL-2/IL-10 level induced by the recovery after this exertion clearly increased, relative to the changes in the placebo group. Conclusions AMR restored the immunological balance in strenuously trained athlets through a stabilization of NK and Treg cells with a positive trend in Tδγ towards Th1 response during restitution by cytokine IL2 modulation. Abstract
The study investigated the immediate effect of a moderate interval-running training session on circulating inflammatory cytokines concentration at real conditions of training. Nine recreational runners (5 women and 4 men; 68,33 ± 10,20 kg; 1,65 ± 0,07 m; 28,67 ± 4,24 years) had blood samples collected from antecubital vein before and immediately after a moderate interval-running training session without fasting. Cytokine levels were obtained from blood samples through Multiplex Analysis of Sample Protein Content, performed by Magpix® instrument. The assay detected the cytokines and calculated the plasma cytokine concentrations. Reduced concentration was observed after training session for all cytokines (p < 0.05), except for IP-10. Moderate effect sizes were identified in IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, IP-10, MCP1 and GM-CSF. In summary, a single moderate interval-running training session at real conditions of training seems not to be stressing enough to increase cytokine levels as a response to the exercise. Results reinforce that immediate biochemical response and inflammatory modulation related to exercise is dose-dependent and may be influenced by other variables.
