Abstract
PURPOSE Long COVID presents global challenges for healthcare professionals. Occupational therapists responded by seeking effective treatment strategies. The approaches of occupational therapists supporting long-haulers in German-speaking countries remain under-explored. The purpose of this study is to explore how occupational therapists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland navigate and apply profession-specific strategies in the new clinical landscape of Long COVID care. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study used qualitative-descriptive design and content analysis to extract insights from seven semi-structured interviews with occupational therapists in inpatient and outpatient settings from three countries. RESULTS Four overarching themes emerged: how Long COVID was encountered within the scope of occupational therapy, the multifaceted repertoire experts used to support long haulers, triumphs and challenges that emerged in Long COVID treatment, and recommendations and opportunities for occupational therapy practice. The results underscore the complex support needed for long-haulers, achieved through a multifaceted occupational therapy repertoire, incorporating client-centred, occupation-focused, and context-referencing strategies with shared decision-making and collaborative therapy planning. CONCLUSIONS Occupational therapy concepts, with their focus on human occupation, may offer new treatment options and strategies for managing emerging conditions such as Long COVID.

Abstract
Employment intervention is essential for supporting people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD), who leave the workforce on average 5 years earlier than those without Parkinson's disease (PD). We developed a framework for occupational therapists (OTs) to address employment for PwPD. Our qualitative analysis employed data source triangulation of environmental scan of resources and publications, electronic medical records data, and focus groups with clinicians and PwPD. The framework underwent expert panel review by OTs and researchers who are knowledgeable of current evidence-based practices for PD. The framework is based on the Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance (PEOP) Model and PEOP Occupational Therapy Process and comprised of four parts: PEOP features of PD relevant to employment, performance changes experienced by PwPD, a process to evaluate and address employment, and intervention ideas. This framework serves as an impetus to explore evidence-based, scalable, proactive intervention approaches to address employment in PwPD.

Abstract
In pediatric occupational therapy, there is insufficient evidence examining assessment tool selection by occupational therapists and how assessment tools contribute to occupation-based practice. To examine the perceptions of occupation-based assessment tool selection by pediatric occupational therapists, a phenomenological research study was conducted with six pediatric occupational therapy practitioners. Three themes emerged from participants' perspectives: the centrality of occupation, selecting the just right tool, and practice implications. Participants recognized the need to integrate occupation-based assessments into practice but reported decreased opportunities secondary to training, available supplies, lack of awareness of foundational constructs, and organizational expectations. The use of occupation-based assessments positively enhances pediatric occupational therapists' clinical practice by upholding the core occupational beliefs of the profession throughout all phases of service delivery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Older people want to age in place. Despite advancing functional limitations and their desire of aging in place, they are not always faithful to therapy that maintains independence and promotes safety. Occupational therapists can facilitate aging in place. Occupational therapy is defined as the therapeutic use of everyday life occupations with persons, groups, or populations for the purpose of enhancing or enabling participation. AIM To describe the content a high-adherence-to-therapy and evidence-based occupational therapy intervention to optimize functional performance and social participation of home-based physically frail older adults and wellbeing of their informal caregiver, and the research activities undertaken to design this intervention. METHODS A roadmap was created to develop the occupational therapy intervention. This roadmap is based on the Medical Research Council (MRC) framework and is supplemented with elements of the Intervention Mapping approach. The TIDieR checklist is applied to describe the intervention in detail. A systematic review and two qualitative studies substantiated the content of the intervention scientifically. RESULTS The application of the first two phases of the MRC framework resulted in the ProMOTE intervention (Promoting Meaningful activities by Occupational Therapy in Elderly). The ProMOTE intervention is a high-adherence-to-therapy occupational therapy intervention that consists of six steps and describes in detail the evidence-based components that are required to obtain an operational intervention for occupational therapy practice. CONCLUSION This study transparently reflects on the process of a high-quality occupational therapy intervention to optimize the functional performance and social participation of the home-based physically frail older adult and describes the ProMOTE intervention in detail. The ProMOTE intervention contributes to safely aging in place and to maintaining social participation. The designed intervention goes beyond a description of the 'what'. The added value lies in the interweaving of the 'why' and 'how'. By describing the 'how', our study makes the concept of 'therapeutic use-of-self' operational throughout the six steps of the occupational therapy intervention. A further rigorous study of the effect of the ProMOTE intervention on adherence, functional performance and social participation is recommended based to facilitate the implementation of this intervention on a national level in Belgium.

Abstract
Objective To analyze real-world rehabilitation technology (RT) use, with a view toward enhancing RT development and adoption. Design A convergent, mixed-methods study using direct field observations, semi-structured templates, and summative content analysis. Setting Ten neurorehabilitation units in a single health system. Participants 3 research clinicians (1OT, 2PTs) observed ∼60 OTs and 70 PTs in inpatient; ∼18 OTs and 30 PTs in outpatient. Interventions Not applicable. Main Outcome Measures Characteristics of RT, time spent setting up and using RT, and clinician behaviors. Results 90 distinct devices across 15 different focus areas were inventoried. 329 RT-uses were documented over 44 hours with 42% of inventoried devices used. RT was used more during interventions (72%) than measurement (28%). Intervention devices used frequently were balance/gait (39%), strength/endurance (30%), and transfer/mobility training (16%). Measurement devices were frequently used to measure vitals (83%), followed by grip strength (7%), and upper extremity function (5%). Device characteristics were predominately AC-powered (56%), actuated (57%), monitor-less (53%), multi-use (68%), and required little familiarization (57%). Set-up times were brief (mean ± SD = 3.8±4.21 and 0.8±1.3 for intervention and measurement, respectively); more time was spent with intervention RT (25.6±15) than measurement RT (7.3±11.2). RT nearly always involved verbal instructions (72%) with clinicians providing more feedback on performance (59.7%) than on results (30%). Therapists' attention was split evenly between direct attention towards the patient during clinician treatment (49.7%) and completing other tasks such as documentation (50%). Conclusions Even in a tech-friendly hospital, majority of available RT were observed un-used, but identifying these usage patterns is crucial to predict eventual adoption of new designs from earlier stages of RT development. Abstract
Background Falls occur frequently during rehabilitation for people with disabilities. Fall risk prediction ability (FRPA) is necessary to prevent falls and provide safe, high-quality programs. In Japan, Kiken Yochi Training (KYT) has been introduced to provide training to improve this ability. Time Pressure-KYT (TP-KYT) is an FRPA measurement specific to fall risks faced by rehabilitation professionals. However, it is unclear which FRPA factors are measured by the TP-KYT; as this score reflects clinical experience, a model can be hypothesized where differences between rehabilitation professionals (licensed) and students (not licensed) can be measured by this tool. Aims To identify the FRPA factors included in the TP-KYT and verify the FRPA factor model based the participants' license status. Methods A total of 402 participants, with 184 rehabilitation professionals (physical and occupational therapists) working in 12 medical facilities and three nursing homes, and 218 rehabilitation students (physical and occupational therapy students) from two schools participated in this study. Participant characteristics (age, gender, job role, and years of experience and education) and TP-KYT scores were collected. The 24 TP-KYT items were qualitatively analyzed using an inductive approach based on content, and FRPA factors were extracted. Next, the correction score (acquisition score/full score: 0-1) was calculated for each extracted factor, and an observation variable for the job role (rehabilitation professional = 1, rehabilitation student = 0) was set. To verify the FRPA factors associated with having or not having a rehabilitation professional license, FRPA as a latent variable and the correction score of factors as an observed variable were set, and structural equation modeling was performed by drawing a path from the job role to FRPA. Results The results of the qualitative analysis aggregated patient ability (PA), physical environment (PE), and human environment (HE) as factors. The standardized coefficients of the model for participants with or without a rehabilitation professional license and FRPA were 0.85 (p < 0.001) for FRPA from job role, 0.58 for PA, 0.64 for PE, and 0.46 for HE from FRPA to each factor (p < 0.001). The model showed a good fit, with root mean square error of approximation < 0.001, goodness of fit index (GFI) = 0.998, and adjusted GFI = 0.990. Conclusion Of the three factors, PA and PE were common components of clinical practice guidelines for fall risk assessment, while HE was a distinctive component. The model's goodness of fit, which comprised three FRPA factors based on whether participants did or did not have rehabilitation professional licenses, was good. The system suggested that rehabilitation professionals had a higher FRPA than students, comprising three factors. To provide safe and high-quality rehabilitation for patients, professional training to increase FRPA should incorporate the three factors into program content.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE There is no evidence-based system to guide occupational therapists in implementing theory-based, client-engaged goal setting and goal management. A new system is needed to support high-quality goal setting and goal management. OBJECTIVE To determine the acceptability, appropriateness, feasibility, credibility, and expectancy of a new structured theory-based, client-engaged goal setting and goal management system, called MyGoals, for occupational therapists. We explored MyGoals' implementation determinants, potential positive outcomes, and comparative advantages. DESIGN This was a mixed-methods feasibility study. SETTING Community. PARTICIPANTS Occupational therapists (N = 7). OUTCOMES AND MEASURES Acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility were assessed using the Acceptability of Intervention Measure (AIM), Intervention Appropriateness Measure (IAM), and Feasibility of Intervention Measure (FIM). Credibility and expectancy were assessed with the Credibility and Expectancy Questionnaire (CEQ). Semistructured 1:1 interviews were conducted to explore occupational therapy perspectives on MyGoals and its implementation-related factors. RESULTS MyGoals had high AIM (M = 18.1, SD = 1.9), IAM (M = 17.9, SD = 2.2), FIM (M = 17.3, SD = 2.1) scores and high CEQ Credibility (M = 22.1, SD = 5.0) and Expectancy (M = 20.6, SD = 4.3) scores. Interview data revealed suggestions to improve MyGoals, implementation determinants across the individuals involved, inner setting, and intervention characteristic domains, client- and clinician-related potential positive outcomes, and comparative advantages. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE MyGoals is an acceptable, appropriate, feasible, credible, and promising system to guide occupational therapists in implementing theory-based, client-engaged goal setting and goal management for adults with chronic conditions in community-based rehabilitation. What This Article Adds: MyGoals is an easy-to-use, appealing, and helpful system to support occupational therapists in delivering theory-based goal setting and goal management components and to enable adults with chronic conditions to actively engage in their rehabilitation. This study supports the usefulness of MyGoals in community-based rehabilitation to improve goal setting and goal management quality and personally meaningful rehabilitation goal achievement in this population.

Abstract
Background/Aims Parents of children with cerebral palsy face higher levels of stress, anxiety and depression, sadness, exhaustion and burnout. Parent-based therapies have been found to increase parents' satisfaction with therapy, parent–child interactions and reduced parental stress. This study examined the effects of parent-based occupational therapy on stress levels, coping skills, and emotional skills and competencies of parents of children with cerebral palsy. Methods A total of 15 children and their parents who were admitted to the paediatric rehabilitation unit for occupational therapy were divided into two groups (control group: n=7, study group: n=8) using the coin toss randomisation method. The control group received standard occupational therapy, while the study group received parent-based occupational therapy for 45 minutes a session, twice a week, until 10 sessions had been completed. Participants were evaluated before and after the intervention. Results The study group showed a decrease in stress levels (P=0.034) and increases in coping skills (P=0.016), and emotional skills and competencies (P=0.036). In addition, only an improvement in parents' stress levels (P=0.046) was observed in the control group. Conclusions The parent-based occupational therapy programme was more effective regarding stress levels, coping skills, emotional skills and competencies of the families of children with cerebral palsy compared to classical occupational therapy. This study is important in terms of demonstrating the benefits of parent-based occupational therapy for parents of children with cerebral palsy.

It requires an ongoing process to keep up with new developments related to the profession and specialty areas throughout one's career (i.e., early, mid-, late, change, or reentry). To build capacity, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants must commit to a process of self-assessment, reflecting on, in, and toward action to advance the knowledge, professional reasoning, interpersonal skills, performance skills, and ethical practice necessary to perform current and future roles and responsibilities within the profession. The American Occupational Therapy Association's Standards for Continuing Competence serve as a foundation for analyzing the occupation in regard to continuing competence. These standards can be viewed separately and collectively and can be combined with other standards documents to gain an overarching perspective.

Abstract
The purpose of fieldwork education is to propel each generation of occupational therapy practitioners from the role of student to that of practitioner. Through the fieldwork experience, future occupational therapy practitioners achieve competence in applying the occupational therapy process and using evidence-based interventions to meet the occupational needs of a diverse client population. Fieldwork experiences may occur in a variety of practice settings, including medical, educational, research, administrative, and community-based programs. Moreover, fieldwork placements also present the opportunity to introduce occupational therapy services to new and emerging practice environments.

Abstract
Introduction The number of occupational therapists in Japan continues to increase, which has led to an urgent need to improve the educational environment for new graduate occupational therapists. This study attempted to identify the current state and challenges of the educational environment for new graduate occupational therapists in Japan. Methods We employed a mixed method using quantitative and qualitative data from a questionnaire survey of 1055 chief occupational therapists in Japanese hospitals. The questionnaire consisted of (1) basic information about the respondent and their hospital, (2) educational environment for new graduate occupational therapists at the respondent's hospital, (3) time spent on in-hospital lectures and on-the-job training, and (4) challenges in the clinical education of new graduate occupational therapists. Text data was analysed qualitatively using text mining to create cooccurrence networks. Results A total of 385 responses were obtained with a response rate of 36.5%. All hospitals had recruited new graduate occupational therapists in the last five years, but more than half of them did not have a philosophy and policy on education and had not prepared guidelines for the completion of occupational therapy education. The cooccurring network of issues in the educational environment for new graduate occupational therapists indicates the need to create standard guidelines, train supervisors, and develop a hospital education system. Conclusion In the future, the needs of the educational environment for newly graduated occupational therapists should be investigated, and standardised educational guidelines should be developed.
