Abstract
In this non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized study, we assessed the effects of an education-counseling program for young prehypertensive adults. We included 40 and 47 prehypertensive individuals in the experimental and control groups, respectively. A structured questionnaire (pretest) was used to assess prehypertension-related knowledge, attitudes, health-promoting behavior, and self-efficacy. The experimental group underwent the 8-week program, while the control group received basic prehypertension and self-management education. Subsequently, blood pressure (BP) was measured, and prehypertension-related knowledge, attitudes, health-promoting behavior, and self-efficacy were evaluated using a questionnaire (posttest). There were significant intergroup differences in knowledge (t = 3.04, p = .003), attitudes (t = 6.41, p < .001), behavior (t = 11.60, p < .001), self-efficacy (t = 11.76, p < .001), and systolic BP (t = -5.49, p < .001); however, diastolic BP was not significantly different (t = -0.73, p = .473). Our findings demonstrated that the program is effective in improving knowledge, attitudes, behavior, self-efficacy, and systolic BP. Therefore, it can be used to prevent progression to hypertension.

Abstract
This study attempted to explore the barriers to physical activity of older patients with Hypertension. It aimed to provide robust evidence produced through their eyes. First, through the data analysis of the accelerometer and the decision of the research team, 10 out of the 30 applicants were invited to participate in a photovoice study. Photovoice is one example of participatory action research. Photovoice participants can communicate their unique experiences through photographs, providing a highly realistic and authentic perspective that is not possible to be understood with traditional qualitative research. This study inductively identified four main themes; health illiteracy, distortion of health information, fear of physical activity, and rejection of any life changes. Based on a specific understanding of the population's perception of physical activity, this study attempted to provide evidence of why many elderly Korean patients with Hypertension stay inactive.

Abstract
Hypertension is a major health issues globally. Multiple genetic and environmental factors are involved in hypertension etiology. Solute carrier family 35 member F3 (SLC35F3) is a type of transporter uptakes thiamin across the cellular and mitochondrial membrane. Recent studies suggested that variations in SLC35F3 are associated with the risk of hypertension; however, studies are limited in Koreans. This study examined the association of the genetic variations in SLC35F3 and the risk of hypertension in Koreans using the Korean Genome Epidemiology Study (Ansan/Ansung study). A total of 8,298 Koreans (males 3,983, females 4,315) were analyzed for their general characteristics, dietary intake, and blood pressure. Twenty-four tagging variations in SLC35F3 were selected and investigated for their association with the risk of hypertension using a sex-stratified approach. Findings suggested that, in males, rs12135117 A allele carriers were at the lower risk for hypertension (adjusted odds ratio, 0.859; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.740–0.998). In females, rs10910387 TC genotype tended to increase the risk 1.172-fold for hypertension (95% CI, 1.002–1.370). Multiple linear regression models exhibited that rs12135117 A allele was negatively associated with blood pressure in males, and rs10910387 TC genotype had a positive association with blood pressure in females. However, statistical significance for these genetically modified effects was in lacked (Bonferroni's corrected p > 0.002). In conclusion, genetic variation in SLC35F3 is not a decisive prediction marker for hypertension risk in Koreans. Given the rarity of data, more studies are required to evaluate the role of SLC35F3 and thiamin in the hypertension etiology.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Health behaviour is one of the major determinants of cardiovascular diseases in working population. This study was tried to investigate the trend of cardiovascular health level, the relationship between continuous health behaviours, and changes in the risk of cardiovascular diseases of male workers by using a nationwide database. DESIGN This study is a retrospective cohort study. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS The study analysed data of 57 837 male workers whose personal health examination data were continuously traced using Korea's National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort 2.0 database. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURES A 10-year trend for all cardiovascular risks and change for the risks according to the consistent performance of healthy behaviours. RESULTS The results showed that the risk of being overweight (adjusted OR (aOR) 1.63, 95% CI 1.59 to 1.68) and obese (aOR 1.51, 95% CI 1.47 to 1.56) increased. The index of cardiovascular risk also increased for high fasting glucose (aOR 1.77, 95% CI 1.62 to 1.95) and high total cholesterol (aOR 1.68, 95% CI 1.60 to 1.76), respectively. The risks of high fasting glucose (aOR 2.09, 95% CI 1.40 to 3.13), high triglycerides (aOR 1.27, 95% CI 1.14 to 1.42) and high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (aOR 1.38, 95% CI 1.14 to 1.66) were increased among high-risk smokers. Similarly, the risk of high total cholesterol (aOR 2.20, 95% CI 1.35 to 3.58) and high triglycerides (aOR 1.42, 95% CI 1.09 to 1.85) were increased among high-risk drinkers. In addition, the increase in the risk of being overweight (aOR 2.20, 95% CI 1.83 to 2.65) and obese (aOR 1.90, 95% CI 1.59 to 2.27) were analysed among who had not consistently exercised. CONCLUSIONS Since the pattern of change in the level of cardiovascular risk related to the continuous health behaviours of male workers was identified, the findings of the present study can be used as basic data to develop health promotion policies for the population.

Abstract
The socioeconomic status (SES) and health behaviors of workers are associated with the risks of developing obesity, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and other cardiovascular diseases. Herein, we investigated the factors influencing cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk based on the SES of male and female workers. This cross-sectional analysis used the National Health Information Database to assess the associations between gender, SES (income level, residential area), health behaviors, and CVD-related health status of workers, through multinomial logistic regression. Upon analysis of a large volume of data on workers during 2016, the smoking and drinking trends of male and female workers were found to differ, causing different odds ratio (OR) tendencies of the CVD risk. Also, while for male workers, higher ORs of obesity or abdominal obesity were associated with higher incomes or residence in metropolitan cities, for female workers, they were associated with lower incomes or residence in rural areas. Additionally, among the factors influencing CVD risk, lower income and residence in rural areas were associated with higher CVD risk for male and female workers. The study findings imply the importance of developing gender-customized intervention programs to prevent CVD, due to gender-specific associations between CVD-related health status and health behaviors according to SES.

Abstract
Background There are limited outcome studies of hypertension among young adults, especially using the new blood pressure (BP) categories from the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. We examined associations between the new BP categories and the risk of incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) in low‐risk and young adults. Methods and Results A cohort study was performed in 244 837 Korean adults (mean age, 39.0 years; SD, 8.9 years) who underwent a comprehensive health examination at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2016; they were followed up for incident CVD via linkage to the Health Insurance and Review Agency database until the end of 2016, with a median follow‐up of 4.3 years. BP was categorized according to the new American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) hypertension guidelines. During 924 420.7 person‐years, 1435 participants developed new‐onset CVD (incidence rate of 16.0 per 104 person‐years). The multivariable‐adjusted hazard ratios (95% CIs ) for CVD comparing elevated BP, stage 1 hypertension, stage 2 hypertension, treated and strictly controlled (systolic BP/diastolic BP <130/80 mm Hg with antihypertensive use), treated and controlled (systolic BP 130–139 and diastolic BP 80 to 89 mm Hg with antihypertensive use), treated uncontrolled, and untreated hypertension to normal BP were 1.37 (1.11–1.68), 1.45 (1.26–1.68), 2.12 (1.74–2.58), 1.41 (1.12–1.78), 1.97 (1.52–2.56), 2.29 (1.56–3.37) and 1.93 (1.53–2.45), respectively. Conclusions In this large cohort of low‐risk and young adults, all categories of higher BP were independently associated with an increased risk of CVD compared with normal BP, underscoring the importance of BP management even in these low‐risk populations.
