Abstract
BACKGROUND Lymphedema is a debilitating condition that significantly affects quality of life due to its chronic nature and visible symptoms. Lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) has emerged as a promising surgical intervention, yet its effects on body image and spiritual health alongside physical symptoms have not been thoroughly examined. This study evaluates the efficacy of LVA in improving symptoms, quality of life (QOL), body image, and spiritual well-being in lymphedema patients. METHODS A prospective cohort study was conducted at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, involving 44 patients with lymphedema undergoing LVA surgery. Evaluations were made pre-surgery, one month post-surgery, and six months post-surgery using the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS), and a spiritual health scale. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way repeated measures ANOVA. RESULTS Significant improvements were observed in lymphedema symptoms and QOL measures at six months post-operation. SF-36 results showed enhanced scores in nearly all domains, particularly in physical functioning and role-physical. The appearance orientation scores from the MBSRQ-AS significantly increased, indicating improved perceptions in some dimensions of body image. CONCLUSIONS LVA surgery significantly enhances physical and psychological outcomes in patients with lymphedema, with marked improvements in symptoms, QOL, and body image perceptions. The findings suggest that while LVA is effective in addressing the physical and psychological aspects of lymphedema, it does not impact spiritual dimensions. This underscores the need for holistic approaches in the management of lymphedema to address all facets of patient well-being.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to investigate the effect of the presence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) on the limb volume and quality of life (QoL) of patients who underwent complex decongestive therapy (CDT) due to unilateral breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). METHODS Forty female patients with unilateral BCRL, of whom 20 had MetS (MetS group) and 20 did not have MetS (control group), were included in the study. The participants received CDT 5 days a week for 3 weeks. The participants' limb volume (percentage of excess volume (PEV) and percentage reduction of excess volume (PREV) was determined using a tape measure, and their QoL was assessed using the Lymphedema Quality of Life questionnaire (LYMQoL) before and after treatment. RESULTS After the treatment, the PEV and PREV values and LYMQoL-symptoms scores of the patients improved (p < 0.05); however, the LYMQoL-function, appearance/body image, mood/emotions, and overall QoL scores did not change in the MetS group (p > 0.05). In the control group, the PEV and PREV values and the LYMQoL-appearance/body image, mood/emotions, and overall QoL scores improved (p < 0.05), but the LYMQoL-symptoms and LYMQoL-function scores did not change (p > 0.05). There was a greater increase in the post-treatment PEV and PREV values of the control group compared to the MetS group (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION The study yielded that CDT was an effective treatment in BCRL with and without MetS; however, the improvement was greater in BCRL cases without MetS than in those with MetS. Therefore, the presence of MetS should be taken into account in the treatment of lymphedema in patients who develop BCRL. TRIAL REGISTRATION ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier: NCT05426993. Abstract
Objectives The study aimed to determine the rates of adherence to phase 2 components of complex decongestive therapy (CDT) and related factors among patients with postmastectomy lymphedema. Patients and methods This cross-sectional study included 90 female patients (mean age: 54.4±8.0 years; range, 24 to 65 years) with unilateral postmastectomy lymphedema who completed chemotherapy or radiotherapy and had previously undergone CDT phase 1 at our clinic or elsewhere between May 2018 and May 2019. Patients were included in the study at their usual visit to the lymphedema polyclinic. After physical examination, study questionnaires that involved patients' demographic and clinic data and Lymphedema Quality of Life scores were recorded. Patients who applied CDT phase 2 methods four days a week or more frequently were considered adherent, while those who applied these methods less frequently or who never applied these methods were considered nonadherent. The body mass index (BMI) scores were classified based on the criteria of the World Health Organization. Results Lymphedema stages of the patients were Stage I in 33.3% (n=30), Stage II in 60% (n=54), and Stage III in 6.7% (n=6). The rates of adherence were 74.4% (n=67) for skin care, 46.6% (n=42) for compression garment use, 42.2% (n=38) for self-massage, 42.2% (n=38) for exercise, and 18.8% (n=17) for multilayer bandaging. The rate of adherence to the multilayer bandaging method was found to be significantly higher in the obese group (BMI >30) than in the other BMI groups. Conclusion Patient adherence to CDT phase 2 was not sufficient except for the skin care component. There was a significant relationship between BMI and adherence to multilayer bandaging.

Abstract
Objective: Cancer-related lymphedema represents a potential complication of cancer treatment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the combination of lymphatico-venular anastomosis and liposuction in the treatment of secondary lymphedema. Methods: We present a retrospective analysis of patients affected by cancer-related unilateral limb lymphedema. Inclusion criteria included previous neoplastic pathology with the consequent development of unilateral limb lymphedema, while the exclusion criteria included the presence of comorbidities and the persistence of cancer, as well as previous lymphatic surgery. The outcomes to be included were a reduction in the limb volume and lymphangitis rate, and an improvement in the quality of life. Patients' data were assessed before surgery and 1 year after surgery. Perioperative management included clinical and ultrasonographical evaluations. Under local anesthesia, lymphatico-venular anastomosis with the supramicrosurgical technique and the liposuction of the affected limb was performed in the same surgical session. Results: A total of 24 patients were enrolled in the study. One year after the surgery, an average volume reduction of 37.9% was registered (p = 0.0000000596). The lymphangitis rate decreased after surgery from 4.67 to 0.95 per year (p = 0.000007899). The quality-of-life score improved from 68.7 to 16 according to the LLIS scale. Conclusions: The combination of LVA and liposuction represents a valid strategy for treating cancer-related lymphedema, ensuring stable results over time. In addition, it can be performed under local anesthesia, resulting in being minimally invasive and well-tolerated by patients. This paper reports on the short-term efficacy of this combined technique.

Abstract
The LYMQOL Leg questionnaire is the most widely used, evidence-based tool for the assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with lower limb lymphedema (LLL). It has been translated into several languages, but a German version is currently lacking. The aim of our study was to validate a German translation of LYMQOL Leg. Translation and cross-cultural adaptation were performed in accordance with ISPOR principles. A total of 103 patients with LLL from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland were interviewed twice. The content and face validity assessments indicated that the German LYMQOL Leg questionnaire was acceptable for interviewing patients with lymphedema. Comparing the LYMQOL Leg with the SF-36 demonstrated good construct validity. Reliability determined by the test-retest procedure was good (intra-class-correlation coefficients 0.68-0.92). Cronbach's alpha values ranged from 0.76 to 0.90 in both interviews, showing an acceptable internal consistency. The four domains of the questionnaire reached a cumulative variance of 52.7% in the factor analysis. The association between the lymphedema stages and the LYMQOL Leg domain scores was not significant. In conclusion, the validity of the German version of LYMQOL Leg, called LYMQOL Bein, was confirmed and thus represents a suitable tool for measuring HRQoL in German-speaking patients with LLL.

Abstract
Background: Breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) was associated with postural imbalance, but the immature knowledge introduced debate about which component of the balance was affected by BCRL in the literature. The aim of this study was to determine the static and dynamic balance of patients with BCRL in comparison with healthy subjects. Methods and Results: This case-control designed study recruited 30 BCRL patients and 30 healthy individuals. The demographic and clinical variables of the subjects were recorded. The static balance stability parameters on four conditions (eyes opened-stable ground, eyes closed-stable ground, eyes opened-unstable ground, eyes closed-unstable ground) and dynamic stability of all participants were evaluated. The values of both stable ground conditions were similar between the groups (p < 0.05). However, values of both eyes opened-unstable ground (p = 0.032) and eyes closed-unstable ground (p = 0.034) conditions were significantly impaired in BCRL in comparison with controls. Besides, comparison of sway area of the opened versus closed eyes conditions on unstable ground (p = 0.036), and movement speed while correcting the center of pressure on unstable ground (with opened and closed eyes, p = 0.014 and p = 0.004 respectively) revealed increased values in the BCRL group. Likewise, the dynamic stability was significantly disrupted in the BCRL group (p = 0.043). Conclusion: Closing eyes did not affect the postural balance in patients with BCRL, whereas the deterioration of ground altered the balance significantly in the BCRL group compared with healthy subjects. We suggest the inclusion of balance exercises and guidance for selection of correct shoes and insoles in routine lymphedema rehabilitation program.

Abstract
Background: The aim of our study was to determine the causes of lower extremity kinesiophobia (whether it is biological or psychological) in individuals with lower limb lymphedema (LLL), and to compare the changes in fatigue and activities of daily living with healthy individuals. Methods: The study included 74 unilateral LLL patients (study group) and 74 individuals (control subjects). Causes of fear of movement were assessed with the Causes of Fear of Movement questionnaire; fatigue, with the Functional Assessment of Chronic Disease Treatment-Fatigue Questionnaire; and quality of life (QoL) with the Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire-Leg. Results: One hundred forty-eight participants were included in the study, 74 of whom were in the study group and 74 in the control group. 63.5% of the lymphedema patients had primary lymphedema and 36.5% had secondary lymphedema. Fear of movement total score and QoL scores was higher in LLL group than control group. Total fear of movement score and biological subparameter score of fear of movement, fatigue, and some subparameters of QoL scores were found to be higher in primary LLL patients compared with secondary LLL. Conclusion: Fear of movement is common and QoL is impaired in patients with secondary LLL, more significant in primary LLL.

Abstract
Background: Breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) is a serious health condition negatively affecting psychological state, sleep quality, and quality of life (QOL) of patients. These complications of BCRL can be overlooked in routine clinical practice. The aim of this study is to evaluate sleep quality, depression, and QOL in patients with different stages of BCRL. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 111 consecutive women patients with BCRL attending to lymphedema unit of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital in Ankara City Hospital. Demographical and clinical data of patients were noted. Sleep quality was assessed with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, day-time sleepiness was assessed with Epworth Sleepiness Scale, depression was assessed with Beck Depression Questionnaire, and QOL was assessed with Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire-arm. Results: Median age of patients was 57 (49-63) (25%-75% interquartile range). Nearly 58.8% of the patients had sleep disturbances, and 29.7% of the patients had depression. Presence of both sleep disturbance and depression was associated with increased age. Patients with sleep disturbance were found to be more depressive and vice versa, (p < 0.001, p < 0.001, respectively). Sleep disturbance, depression and day-time sleepiness, and higher body mass index were all associated with lower QOL scores. Conclusions: Presence of sleep disturbances and depression should be evaluated in every patient with BCRL with special attention to elderly. Rehabilitative management of BCRL should include psychiatric evaluation and interventions. Future studies should intend to assess the risk factors that affect psychological state, sleep quality, and QOL in patients with BCRL.

PURPOSE This study aimed to translate the Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire-leg into Korean (K-LYMQOL-leg) and test its reliability and validity. MATERIALS AND METHODS The LYMQOL-leg was translated forward and backward from English to Korean. Fifty-five patients with lower limb lymphedema completed the K-LYMQOL-leg and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC-QLQ-C30) at the first visit, and the K-LYMQOL-leg was re-administered within a week. Reliability was tested by calculating the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and the Cronbach's alpha for each domain. Face validity was evaluated, and concurrent validity was verified by comparing the K-LYMQOL-leg domain scores with the corresponding EORTC-QLQ-C30 and limb volume scales. The known-group construct validity was then assessed. RESULTS Excellent reliability was confirmed by internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha coefficient, 0.851-0.878) and test-retest reliability (ICC, 0.901-0.936) in the four domains. A significant correlation was confirmed in the appearance domain with limb volume (r = 0.424) and in the other domains [function, symptom, and mood], with the EORTC-QLQ-C30 scales (r = -0.779, 0.712, and -0.783). Known-group validity was confirmed in all four domains. CONCLUSIONS The K-LYMQOL-leg verified in this study can be used in clinical practice to evaluate the Quality of Life (QOL) of patients with lymphedema or in research as an outcome.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONAmong cancer treatment-related complications, lymphedema of the lower extremities severely and persistently reduces the health-related quality of life of cancer survivors.The Korean version of the Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire-leg (K-LYMQOL-leg) is an easy, reliable and valid questionnaire for patients with lower limb lymphedema.K-LYMQOL-leg will be useful in assessing the quality of life of patients with lower limb lymphedema in a clinical setting or for research purposes.

Psychometric Properties of Quality of Life Questionnaires for Patients with Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema: A Systematic Review. Abstract
Backgrounds: Assessing quality of life (QoL) using a well-developed and validated questionnaire is an essential part of a breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) treatment. However, a QoL questionnaire with the best psychometric properties is so far unknown. The aim of this systematic review is to evaluate the psychometric properties of the questionnaires measuring the QoL of patients with BCRL. Methods: A thorough search was performed to identify published studies in electronic databases such as Medline (via Ovid), EBSCOhost, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, on 8 February 2022, by using search terms as follows: ‘quality of life’; ‘breast cancer’; ‘upper limb’; ‘lymphedema’; ‘questionnaire’; and ‘measurement properties.’ Two reviewers conducted article selection, data extraction, and quality assessment independently. The third reviewer helped solve any possible disagreements between the two reviewers. The COSMIN checklist and manual were used to assess the quality of included studies. Results: A total of nineteen articles with nine questionnaires were included and assessed using the COSMIN Risk of Bias checklist. Most studies only assessed content validity, structural validity, internal consistency, reliability, and construct validity. Lymph-ICF-UL showed the most ‘sufficient’ and ‘high’ quality of evidence ratings for its measurement properties. Conclusion: The most appropriate questionnaire for use based on our assessment is Lymph-ICF-UL.

Abstract
A previously published review focused on generic and disease-specific patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) relevant to vascular surgery but limited to arterial conditions. The objective of this project was to identify all available PROMs relevant to diseases treated by vascular surgeons and to evaluate vascular surgeon perceptions, barriers to widespread implementation, and concerns regarding PROMs. We provide an overview of what a PROM is and how they are developed, and summarize currently available PROMs specific to vascular surgeons. We also report results from a survey of 78 Society for Vascular Surgery members serving on committees within the Policy and Advocacy Council addressing the barriers and facilitators to using PROMs in clinical practice. Finally, we report the qualitative results of two focus groups conducted to assess granular perceptions of PROMS and preparedness of vascular surgeons for widespread implementation of PROMs. These focus groups identified a lack of awareness of existing PROMs, knowledge of how PROMs are developed and validated, and clarity around how PROMs should be used by the clinician as main subthemes for barriers to PROM implementation in clinical practice.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to perform the psychometric evaluation of the Turkish version of the Lymphedema and Breast Cancer Questionnaire (LBCQ). METHODS Patients with BCRL (n = 50) received a Turkish version of the following measurement tools: Lymphedema Functioning, Disability, and Health Questionnaire (Lymph-ICF), Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand questionnaire (Quick DASH), LBCQ and Upper Extremity Functional Index (UEFI-20). Patients without BCRL (n = 50) completed only the Turkish LBCQ. Psychometric properties were analyzed with internal consistency, test-retest reliability, ROC analysis, criterion, and discriminant validity. RESULTS The internal consistency of the Turkish LBCQ was strong (Cronbach's α coefficient >0.60). Test-retest reliability was also very strong (intraclass correlation coefficients from 0.79 to 1; p < 0.001). Criterion validity was supported by a moderate correlation of LBCQ with volumetric measurement, skinfold thickness, and questionnaires (Lymph-ICF, UEFI, and Quick DASH) (p < 0.05) via the ROC analysis, the cut-off point was found as "6" in distinguishing individuals with lymphedema and those without. There were significant differences in LBCQ total and subscale scores between participants with and without BCRL (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS This study clinically confirmed the validity, reliability, and applicability of the Turkish LBCQ in the Turkish population. LBCQ will enable the early detection of lymphedema and will save the country financially with early diagnosis.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThe LBCQ was successfully translated, adapted, and validated into the Turkish language.Turkish version of the LBCQ was found to be reliable and valid to evaluate the signs and symptoms of lymphedema in Turkish women with breast cancer.By using LBCQ, rehabilitation professionals can detect lymphedema at an early stage, reduce the cost of lymphedema treatment and prevent the development of advanced lymphedema in their clinics.

Abstract
Objectives
The aim of this study was to evaluate the comparative efficacy of 3MTM CobanTM 2 layer system and conventional multi-layer short-stretch bandaging in terms of volume reduction, ultrasonographic measurements, functional status, and quality of life (QoL) in the treatment of patients with breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL).
Patients and methods
This prospective, single-blind, randomized study included a total of 60 BCRL patients (60 females; mean age 54.9±9.6 years; range, 30 to 73 years). The patients were randomly allocated to Group 1 (n=30) and Group 2 (n=30). Both groups received complex decongestive therapy (CDT) including skin care, lymphedema exercises, and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) combined with traditional multi-layer short-stretch bandaging five times per week for three weeks in Group 1 and with 3MTM CobanTM 2 layer system bandaging two times per week for three weeks in Group 2. Differences in volumes, excess volumes, ultrasonographic measurements, QoL, and functional assessment scores were evaluated at baseline, after three weeks of intensive treatment period, and at two months of follow-up. Functional status was evaluated by the Quick Disability of Arm Shoulder and Hand Questionnaire (Q-DASH), while the QoL was assessed using the Turkish version of Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire-Arm (LYMQOL-Arm). The duration and easiness of applying bandages by physiotherapists and comfortableness of bandages according to patients and physiotherapists were also evaluated using a questionnaire.
Results
The demographic and clinical properties were similar between the groups. There were significant improvements in the volumes, excess volumes, ultrasonographic measures, functional scores, and QoL scores in both groups at the end of treatment. The improvements were sustained at two months of follow-up.
Conclusion
The 3MTM CobanTM 2 layer bandaging as a part of CDT twice a week for a period of three weeks can significantly reduce the volume and improve the disability and impaired QoL, similar to conventional short-stretch multi-layer bandages. In addition, treatment with this layer system enables a time-efficient, easy, and comfortable application of bandaging with increased mobility of the upper extremity.

Abstract
PURPOSE There is growing interest in measures that assess upper-limb lymphedema after breast cancer. Since no validated Italian version of the Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire for upper limbs (LYMQOL-UL) exists, we aimed to culturally adapt and validate an Italian version (LYMQOL-UL-IT) in order to allow its use in Italian patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS The LYMQOL-UL-IT was developed by means of forward-backward translation, review by an expert committee and a test of the pre-final version to evaluate its comprehensibility. The psychometric testing included reliability by internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) and test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient, ICC(2.1)), measurement error by calculating the minimum detectable change (MDC95), construct validity by confirmatory factor analysis, and evaluation of a priori hypotheses about the correlations between the four LYMQOL-UL domains, single items of the LYMQOL-UL, and measures of health-related quality of life and pain intensity (Spearman's rank correlation coefficient). RESULTS The consensus-based version of LYMQOL-UL-IT was administered to 139 patients with upper-limb stable secondary iatrogenic lymphedema after breast cancer. The adapted questionnaire was well accepted as it was completed in less than 10 min, without missing answers or comprehension problems. Internal consistency was acceptable (α = 0.92-0.95). Test-retest reliability was good-to-excellent (ICC(2.1) = 0.73-0.96). The MDC95 for the four domains of the questionnaire was as follows: 0.64 scale points for Function, 0.40 for Appearance, 0.53 for Symptoms, and 0.81 for Mood. Factor analysis confirmed a 4-dimensional structure as originally conceived and the a priori hypotheses were met. CONCLUSION The LYMQOL-UL-IT is reliable, sensitive to change and valid in patients with upper-limb stable secondary iatrogenic lymphedema after breast cancer. It can be used for clinical and research purposes.Implications for rehabilitationLymphedema is a frequently unnoticed clinical condition that not only impacts physical functioning but often restricts the health-related quality of life in breast cancer survivors.The Italian version of the Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire for upper limbs (LYMQOL-UL-IT) is reliable, sensitive to change and valid in patients with upper-limb lymphedema after breast cancer.The LYMQOL-UL-IT tool can be recommended for clinical and research purposes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lymphedema is a chronic and debilitating condition that affects many cancer survivors. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) can give valuable insight into the impact of lymphedema on a patient's quality of life and can play an essential role in treatment decisions. This study aims to (1) identify PROMs used to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with lymphedema; and (2) assess the quality of the lymphedema-specific PROMs. METHODS We performed a systematic search to identify articles on lymphedema, quality of life, and PROMs. An overview was created of all PROMs used to assess HRQoL in patients with lymphedema. The methodological quality of the lymphedema-specific PROMs was assessed using the Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) criteria. RESULTS A total of 235 articles met the inclusion criteria, of which 200 described studies using one or more PROMs as an outcome measure in patients with lymphedema. The other 35 studies described the development and/or validation of a lymphedema-specific PROM. The COSMIN assessment demonstrated that none of these PROMs met all quality standards for development. CONCLUSION The use of PROMs in lymphedema is increasing; however, based on our findings, we cannot fully support the use of any of the existing instruments. A well-developed lymphedema-specific PROM, based on patient input, is needed to gain better insight into the impact of this condition, and can be used to measure the effect of possible medical and surgical treatments.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Lymphoedema may develop as a result of numerous genetic and traumatic causes; however, treatment for cancer is the most common cause of its development in more economically developed nations. This systematic review critically appraised, compared and summarised the measurement properties of lymphoedema-specific self-reported questionnaires (SRQs) measuring various patient-reported outcomes including quality of life (QOL), function, morbidity, and symptoms. METHODS Seven databases were searched to identify studies of the measurement properties of SRQs. Two review teams independently evaluated the quality of the individual studies using the risk of bias tool from the Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN). Measurement properties of the SRQs presented in the studies were then rated. Study level ratings were summarised for an SRQ if they were reported in multiple studies, and their overall quality of the evidence were then graded. RESULTS Forty articles, reporting on 19 SRQs were identified from 8615 records. The focus of the 19 SRQs included eight on QOL, four on symptoms, two on function, and two on impairment. The other three SRQs were on illness perception, self-efficacy, and patient-relevant treatment benefit, respectively. Eight and three SRQs were upper limb and lower limb-specific, respectively, whereas seven questionnaires were for both upper and lower limb lymphoedema. One SRQ was developed for head and neck lymphoedema. According to the COSMIN framework, none of the SRQs reviewed had sufficient evidence to support all nine measurement properties. In lower limb questionnaires, the LYMQOL-leg has sufficient content, structural, and construct validity as well as internal consistency and reliability. For upper limb lymphoedema questionnaires, the Lymph-ICF-UL had sufficient content and construct validity as well as reliability. CONCLUSION LYMQOL-leg SRQ is recommended with confidence for evaluation of QOL of people with lower limb lymphoedema while the Lymph-ICF-UL is recommended for evaluation of the QOL of the breast cancer-related lymphoedema with some confidence. In view of the high level of the indeterminate ratings of the measurement properties of the existing SRQs, further research is desirable.

Abstract
We report our experience with a new case of lymphedema of the upper extremity in a renal transplant recipient under treatment with everolimus immunosuppression, and we emphasize the effects of complete decongestive therapy on this chronic condition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Little is known about the prevalence and incidence in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) of secondary lymphedema due to cancer. The purpose of the study is to estimate the prevalence and incidence in LMICs of secondary lymphedema related to cancer and/or its treatment(s) and identify risk factors. METHOD A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted. Medline, EMBASE and CINAHL were searched in June 2019 for peer-reviewed articles that assessed prevalence and/or incidence of cancer-related lymphedema in LMICs. Risk of bias was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Prevalence Studies. Estimates of pooled prevalence and incidence estimates were calculated with 95% confidence intervals (CI), with sub-group analyses grouping studies according to: country of origin, study design, risk of bias, setting, treatment, and lymphedema site and measurement. Heterogeneity was measured using X2 and I2, with interpretation guided by the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews. RESULTS Of 8766 articles, 36 were included. Most reported on arm lymphedema secondary to breast cancer treatment (n = 31), with the remainder reporting on leg lymphedema following gynecological cancer treatment (n = 5). Arm lymphedema was mostly measured by arm circumference (n = 16/31 studies), and leg lymphedema through self-report (n = 3/5 studies). Eight studies used more than one lymphedema measurement. Only two studies that measured prevalence of leg lymphedema could be included in a meta-analysis (pooled prevalence =10.0, 95% CI 7.0-13.0, I2 = 0%). The pooled prevalence of arm lymphedema was 27%, with considerable heterogeneity (95% CI 20.0-34.0, I2 = 94.69%, n = 13 studies). The pooled incidence for arm lymphedema was 21%, also with considerable heterogeneity (95% CI 15.0-26.0, I2 = 95.29%, n = 11 studies). There was evidence that higher body mass index (> 25) was associated with increased risk of arm lymphedema (OR: 1.98, 95% CI 1.45-2.70, I2 = 84.0%, P < 0.0001, n = 4 studies). CONCLUSION Better understanding the factors that contribute to variability in cancer-related arm lymphedema in LMICs is an important first step to developing targeted interventions to improve quality of life. Standardising measurement of lymphedema globally and better reporting would enable comparison within the context of information about cancer treatments and lymphedema care.

Abstract
Background: The aim of this study was to validate a translated Swedish version of the lymphoedema-specific quality of life questionnaire (LYMQOL) in a cohort of Swedish cancer patients with secondary lymphoedema of the limbs after cancer treatment.Material and methods: We recruited 102 patients with lymphoedema of the arms or legs after cancer treatment who were visiting lymphoedema therapists at the departments of oncology at the university hospitals in Linköping and Umeå. The LYMQOL questionnaires were translated forward and backward from English to Swedish. Content and face validity were evaluated. The construct validity was assessed by comparing the LYMQOL with the Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) and the perceived degree of lymphoedema of the limbs, respectively. Reliability was determined through test-retest. The internal consistency was assessed by determining Cronbach's alpha and by factor analysis.Results: The content and face validity assessments showed that LYMQOL was an easy, clear and not too long questionnaire to use for patients with lymphoedema. Construct validity was high in both versions when compared with the SF-36. The association between the degrees of perceived lymphoedema and the LYMQOL was only significant in the domains Function and Body Image in the arm version, whereas all domains in the leg version were significant. The reliability was good for the arm version (intra-class-correlation coefficients 0.53-0.87) and very good for the leg version (intra-class-correlation coefficients 0.78-0.90). The internal consistency was acceptable to excellent, with Cronbach's alpha values between 0.79-0.93 (arm-version) and 0.87-0.94 (leg-version). The factor analysis confirmed the usefulness of the four domains in the LYMQOL versions.Conclusions: This study confirmed the validity of the Swedish version of LYMQOL and demonstrated that LYMQOL may be a simple and useful tool for use in clinical practice and scientific contexts for evaluating QoL in patients with lymphoedema of the limbs.

Abstract
Background: Lymphedema and chronic edema is a major health care problem in both developed and nondeveloped countries The Lymphoedema Impact and Prevelance - International (LIMPRINT) study is an international health service-based study to determine the prevalence and functional impact in adult populations of member countries of the International Lymphoedema Framework (ILF). Methods and Results: A total of 1051 patients from eight centers in Turkey were recruited using the LIMPRINT study protocol. Data were collected using the core and module tools that assess the demographic and clinical properties as well as disability and quality of life (QoL). Most of the Turkish patients were recruited from specialist lymphedema services and were found to be women, housewives, and having secondary lymphedema because of cancer treatment. The duration of lymphedema was commonly <5 years and most of them had International Society of Lymphology (ISL) grade 2 lymphedema. Cellulitis, infection, and wounds were uncommon. The majority of patients did not get any treatment or advice before. Most of the patients had impaired QoL and decreased functionality, but psychological support was neglected. Although most had social health security access to lymphedema centers, nevertheless access seemed difficult because of distance and cost. Conclusion: The study has shown the current status and characteristics of lymphedema patients, treatment conditions, the unmet need for the diagnosis and treatment, as well as burden of the disease in both patients and families in Turkey. National health policies are needed for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in Turkey that utilize this informative data.
