Abstract
A 45-year-old female patient was admitted to the emergency department with syncope. Her medical history revealed a diagnosis of Familial Partial Lipodystrophy 2 (FPLD2). The patient's electrocardiogram showed a complete atrioventricular (A-V) block, and she had a history of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and coronary artery bypass surgery. A severe stenosis was observed in the aortic right coronary artery saphenous vein graft during coronary angiography, which was successfully revascularized. Subsequently, due to persistant syncope attacks, a permanent pacemaker was implanted after an electrophysiological study. This case highlights that serious cardiac conduction defects in patients with FPLD2 may not only be related to coronary artery disease but can also present as direct conduction defects.

Abstract
Congenital/infantile fibrosarcoma occurs frequently in the first year of life and differs from fibrosarcoma in adulthood. The clinical course of congenital/infantile fibrosarcoma is more favorable and metastatic spread is rare. While adult fibrosarcomas are common in the thigh, congenital/infantile fibrosarcomas affect chiefly the distal portions of the extremities. Standard treatment is primarily wide surgical excision. Chemotherapy may be given as neoadjuvant or adjuvant treatment in order to avoid the morbidity associated with wide excision. In this case report we present our experience of a newborn affected by congenital/infantile fibrosarcoma of the left thigh.

Abstract
Pleuropulmonary blastoma is an uncommon primary malignant tumor of the lung. Surgery is the most important part of the treatment. Despite the use of chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy, the prognosis is poor. Here we report on the case of a 2.5 year-old boy presenting with pneumothorax who turned out to have a right hemithoracic mass. The patient underwent surgical resection of the mass. Pathologic diagnosis was type II pleuropulmonary blastoma. Postoperative thoracic CT showed nodular residual densities so the patient was given adjuvant combination chemotherapy with cisplatin and etoposide. He has been disease free for 12 months.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Radiofrequency catheter ablation (CA) is a common non-pharmacological treatment option for ventricular premature contractions (PVCs) originating from right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT). In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between recurrence after CA for RVOT-PVC and S-wave in lead 1 that was shown to be associated with RVOT depolarization. METHODOLOGY A total of 104 patients who were referred to our clinic for CA for idiopathic RVOT-PVC between 2012 and 2015years were enrolled. All ECG parameters were measured before and after the ablation procedure. RESULTS Ablation was successful in 100 patients (96,1%). These patients with successful ablation were followed for a mean duration of 1078days. 13 patients (13%) had recurrence. Univariate logistic regression analysis revealed age (odds ratio: 1.916, p:0,012), presence of post-procedural S1 (odds ratio:1.040 p:0,028), post-procedural S1 area (oddsratio:1.023 p:0,041), ΔS1 area (odds ratio:1.242 p:0,004) as predictors for recurrence. Multivariate logistic regression analysis detected age (odds ratio:1.053 p:0,032) and ΔS1 area (odds ratio:0.701 p:0,009) as predictors for recurrence. CONCLUSION Radiofrequency CA for RVOT-PVC can be performed with high procedural success and low complication rates. Age and ΔS1 area might be helpful for prediction of recurrence after CA.

Abstract
Background/aim: Myocarditis in the acute phase usually presents with sinus tachycardia but many other arrhythmias might be seen as well. In this study we aimed to investigate repolarization abnormalities in baseline ECG of patients with myocarditis for the first time.Materials and methods: Thirty patients diagnosed with myocarditis and 25 healthy age-matched controls were included. Two different cardiologists measured corrected QT (QTc), QT dispersion (QTd), QT peak (QTp), T wave peak to T wave end (TpTe), TpTe/QT ratio, and TpTe/QTc ratio in 12-lead ECG.Results: When compared with the control group, QTp (P: 0.021), QT (P: 0.003), TpTe (P < 0.001), TpTe/QTc ratio (P < 0.001), and TpTe/QT ratio (P: 0.005) were significantly higher in patients with myocarditis. A comparison of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves was conducted using the Hanley and McNeil method. The area under the curve (AUC) of the electrocardiographic characteristics QT (AUC: 0.736; 95% CI [0.600-0.846]), QTP (AUC: 0.680; 95% CI [0.540-0.799]), and TpTe (AUC: 0.771; 95% CI [0.638-873]) and TpTe/QTc (AUC: 0.774; 95% CI [0.641-0.876]) and TpTe/QT (AUC: 0.726; 95% CI [0.589-0.838]) in myocarditis were not significantly different from each other but all of them were different from 0.5.Conclusion: Baseline ECGs of patients with myocarditis were associated with repolarization abnormalities. These novel findings may be one of the reasons underlying arrhythmic events in patients with myocarditis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Cardiologists participate in the diagnosis and interventional treatment of numerous high-risk patients. The goal of this study was to investigate how the current malpractice system in Turkey influences cardiologists' diagnostic and interventional behavior and to obtain their opinions about an alternative patient compensation system. METHODS The present cross-sectional study assessed the practice of defensive medicine among cardiologists who are actively working in various types of workplace within the Turkish healthcare system. A 24-item questionnaire was distributed to cardiology residents, specialists, and academics in Turkey in print format, by electronic mail, or via cell phone message. RESULTS A total of 253 cardiologists responded to the survey. Among them, 29 (11.6%) had been sued for malpractice claims in the past. Of the cardiologists who had been sued, 2 (6.9%) had been ordered to pay financial compensation, and 1 (3.4%) was given a sentence of imprisonment due to negligence. In all, 132 (52.8%) of the surveyed cardiologists reported that they had changed their practices due to fear of litigation, and 232 (92.8%) reported that they would prefer the new proposed patient compensation system to the current malpractice system. Among the cardiologists surveyed, 78.8% indicated that malpractice fear had affected their decision-making with regard to requesting computed tomography angiography or thallium scintigraphy, 71.6% for coronary angiography, 20% for stent implantation, and 83.2% for avoiding treating high-risk patients. CONCLUSION The results of this survey demonstrated that cardiologists may request unnecessary tests and perform unneeded interventions due to the fear of malpractice litigation fear. Many also avoid high-risk patients and interventions. The majority indicated that they would prefer the proposed alternative patient compensation system to the current malpractice system.

Abstract
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC), also known as left ventricular apical ballooning syndrome or stress cardiomyopathy, is characterized by transient left ventricular systolic dysfunction and the absence of obstructive lesion in the epicardial coronary arteries. The most common presentation is acute substernal chest pain, although occasionally dyspnea and syncope, and rarely shock with ST-segment elevation and elevated cardiac biomarkers have been observed. Inverted (reverse) TTC is a rare pattern characterized hypokinesis of the basal and midventricular segments. Presently described was case of a 27-year-old woman with ventricular fibrillation following endoscopic nasal sinus surgery.

Abstract
Obesity is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, and it is becoming increasingly prevalent worldwide. Altered pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs in obese patients require dose adjustment according to body weight. New oral anticoagulants (NOACs), which are more frequently used for anticoagulation, are recommended to be used at a fixed dose based on data derived from phase 2 and 3 studies. However, the representation of obese patients [>100 kg or a body mass index (BMI) of >30 kg/m2] in subgroups with a small sample size and reports of various emboli cases under drug treatment have raised suspicions about the adequacy of fixed dose use. To address this issue, we analyzed several patients with a body weight of >100 kg or BMI of >30 kg/m2 participating in NOAC studies and evaluated whether these numbers were sufficient to enable an accurate recommendation of fixed dose use in obese patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Mean platelet volume (MPV) is a marker of platelet activation, which is a determinant of inflammation. The first aim of the present study was to investigate the MPV levels in children with amebiasis and compare the MPV levels with healthy controls. The second aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between MPV and other acute phase reactants. METHODS Seventy six patients with amebic gastroenteritis (mean age 2.64 ± 0.23 years) and 53 healthy controls (mean age 2.35 ± 0.28 years) were enrolled in the study. Entamoeba histolytica was determined in stool using rapid antigen test. RESULTS Complete blood count and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were assessed for all children. MPV levels of patients with amebiasis were significantly higher than those of control children (8.79 ± 0.09 vs. 7.87 ± 0.09 fL, p = 0.000). Leukocyte and eosinophil counts, C-reactive protein and creatinine levels of the patients were higher than controls. Leukocyte count was positively correlated with MPV (r = 0.192, p < 0.05), platelet count (r = 0.278, p < 0.01), and CRP level (r = 0.205, p < 0.05). CONCLUSION In this MPV levels were significantly higher in children with amebiasis compared to controls. MPV can be used as an acute phase reactant in children with Entamoeba histolytica gastroenteritis.

Abstract
Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is the most common childhood systemic vasculitis. Gastro-intestinal involvement occurs in two-thirds of patients. The characteristic skin lesions generally precede abdominal symptoms or present concurrently. A 7-year-old boy presented with intussusception and acalculous cholecystitis and had a cholecystectomy. Two weeks later he was re-admitted with features typical of HSP which responded to corticosteroids. Eleven months later he presented with abdominal pain and recurrence of HSP and, at laparotomy, there was acute appendicitis. This is the first case of a child presenting with HSP complicated by acalculous cholecystitis.

Abstract
PURPOSE Systolic alterations in left ventricular (LV) myocardial function have been reported previously in patients with diastolic dysfunction (DD). Recent advances in real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE) enable the measurement of a set of parameters previously difficult to obtain with standard two-dimensional echocardiography (2DE). The aim of this study was to evaluate global 3DE LV contraction in patients with and without DD who had normal ejection fraction (EF). METHODS Sixty-five patients (average age 56 ± 6 years; 31 females and 34 males) with normal EF (>50 %) referred to echocardiographic examination for the evaluation of DD were included. In addition to measuring conventional echocardiographic parameters, they were also evaluated with 3DE. End diastolic volume, end systolic volume, EF, corrected standard deviation (SD) of time to minimal systolic volume for 16 segments its dispersion, average excursion of the segments and the SD of segmental motion (excursion-SD) were recorded. RESULTS When we tested the differences among three groups of diastolic function (normal, Grade 1, and Grade 2), the results showed that coronary artery disease, left atrial volume, septum, posterior wall, E, A, E/A, deceleration time, E' septum, E' lateral, and excursion-SD were significantly different. An ordered logistic regression analysis revealed that excursion-SD (p < 0.001) and septum (p < 0.001) measurements were statistically significant for predicting DD grade. CONCLUSION In our patient population, a decline in excursion-SD values was observed with increasing DD grade. In other words, the amount of segmental difference in terms of excursion was reduced.

Abstract
Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia following coronary artery by-pass graft surgery (CABG). The value of SYNTAX score to predict postoperative atrial fibrillation (PoAF) has not been clearly addressed. We aimed to evaluate this relationship in patients undergoing isolated CABG. Methods: This study was designed as a single-center, non-randomized, observational, prospective study. Ninety-four patients undergoing isolated on-pump CABG, who had sinus rhythm and were older than 18 years, were enrolled. Demographic characteristics of the patients were recorded; SYNTAX score was calculated preoperatively for each patient. The univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to determine for predictors of PoAF. Results: The median SYNTAX score of the enrolled patients was 21, (56–5). PoAF was observed in 31 (33.3%) patients. Univariate logistic regression showed that age, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), red blood cell distribution width (RDW), urea, initial troponin I, peak postoperative troponin I, interventricular septum, left atrial diameter, and SYNTAX score were significantly associated with the frequency of PoAF following CABG. An independent association was identified with age [b 0.088, p:0.023, OR: 1.092, 95% CI (1.012–1.179)], COPD [(b: 2.222, p:0.003, OR: 9.228, 95% CI (2.150–39.602)], and SYNTAX score [(b: 0.130, p:0.002, OR: 1.139, 95% CI (1.050–1.235)]. Conclusion: This study showed that a higher SYNTAX score was related to more frequent PoAF in patients undergoing isolated on-pump CABG.

Abstract
Pericardiocentesis is a life-saving procedure performed in cardiac tamponade cases occurring in infective, inflammatory or malignancy conditions, or following percutaneous coronary intervention, cardiac device implantation or catheter ablation. In spite of advanced imaging methods, a substantial risk of complication persists. Emergent surgical intervention may be required, in particular during advancement of the catheter into the heart chambers or in cases of wall rupture. Furthermore, in all these cases, patients have a high risk of surgery because of existing comorbidities. This case presents a patient suspected of tuberculous pericarditis who underwent diagnostic pericardiocentesis complicated by right ventricular puncture. The catheter in the right ventricle was withdrawn via a second catheter placed in the pericardial cavity. Spontaneous blood control was established, and with no increase in pericardial effusion surgical intervention was not required. This method can be applied in certain conditions, including cardiac injury caused by pericardiocentesis or intracardiac manipulations, thus eliminating the need for high-risk surgical intervention.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In this study, we aimed to determine pulmonary vein (PV) variation patterns in patients undergoing cryoballoon ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) and their impacts on procedural success and recurrence and also to identify predictors for recurrence. METHODS We enrolled 54 patients with AF and having symptoms despite medical therapy. Prior to the procedure, PV variation and left atrium (LA) size were evaluated in all patients by computed tomography scan. Ablation procedure was performed with single balloon and predictors for AF recurrence were determined. RESULTS The study population consisted of 54 patients (male: 50 [27%], mean age: 53 ± 12) with AF. Paroxysmal AF and persistent AF were detected in 55.6% (30) and 44.4% (24) of the patients, respectively. Mean procedural and fluoroscopy times were 73 ± 19 minutes and 16 ± 4 minutes, respectively. The number of the patients with PV variation of right pulmonary vein (RPV) with >2 ostia and accessory PV was 27.8% (15) and 18.5% (10). During the follow-up, 20.4% (11) of patients had AF recurrence. Patients with recurrence had greater transverse LA size (62 ± 6 mm vs 57 ± 5 mm, P: 0014), longitudinal LA size (65 ± 5 mm vs 61 ± 6 mm, P: 0025), LA volume (78 ± 17 mL vs 65 ± 14 mL, P: 0011), fluoroscopy time (20.4 ± 4.6 minutes vs 15.7 ± 3.5 minutes, P: 0001), RPV with >2 ostia (72.7% vs 27.3%, P: 0001), right upper pulmonary vein (RUPV) diameter (21.6 ± 2.8 cm vs 15.8 ± 2.1 cm; P < 0001), and persistent AF (33.3% vs 66.7%, P: 0046). In multivariate analysis, RUPV diameter (β: 1006; P: 0010; odds ratio [OR]: 2736; 95% confidence interval [CI]: [1267-5906]) and fluoroscopy time (β: 0327; P: 0050; OR: 1386; 95% CI: [1000-1921]) were determined as independent predictors for AF recurrence. CONCLUSIONS Transverse and longitudinal LA size, LA volume, fluoroscopy time, presence of persistent AF, RUPV size, and the number of RPV ostia are associated with AF recurrence following cryoballoon-based ablation. RUPV size and fluoroscopy time are predictors for recurrence.

Abstract
Hallucinogenic plant poisoning in children is a significant problem for the emergency physician. We describe the case of a boy who had slurred speech, fever, hallucinations, tachycardia, dilated pupils, confusion and disorientation. He had no history of drug use or toxin intake. All signs and symptoms were improved by supportive therapy within 48 hours. It turned out that the patient had ingested seeds of Datura stramonium in a neighbor's garden two days previously. The medical history should be taken repeatedly in cases of unknown etiology, and physicians should keep in mind the possibility that unexplained anticholinergic toxidromes could be the result of exposure to toxic plants, in particular those containing atropine and atropine derivates.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of the study was to examine the frequency of factor XIII polymorphism among patients with cardiac syndrome X (CSX). METHODS This study was designed as a cross-sectional and observational study. Forty-eight female patients with CSX and 36 controls matched by age, gender, diabetes, and hypertension were studied. CSX was defined as typical chest pain during rest or effort, abnormal test result for exercise ECG, and presence of angiographically normal epicardial coronary arteries after ruling out inducible spasm. Factor XIII gene polymorphism was investigated by using CVD Strip Assay (ViennaLab Diagnostic GmbH) commercial kit. RESULTS The frequency of factor XIII (Val/Leu + Leu/Leu) mutation was significantly higher in patients with CSX (43%) than in controls (19%) (p = 0.02). Frequency of the Leu allele was significantly higher in the patient group (23.5% vs. 11.1%, p = 0.04). Factor XIII (Val/Leu + Leu/Leu) mutation (p = 0.01, OR = 3.42; 95% CI 1.22-9.58) and smoking (p = 0.04, OR = 3.33, 95% CI 1.05-10.58) were identified as independent predictors of the disease in multivariate regression analysis. CONCLUSIONS This study indicates that there is an evidence for association between factor XIII Val34Leu polymorphism and CSX.

Abstract
Thermal martensite characteristics in Fe-29%Ni-2%Mn-2%Co alloy were investigated with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Mössbauer spectroscopy characterization techniques. SEM observations obviously revealed the lath martensite morphology in the prior austenite phase of examined alloy. As well, the martensitic transformation kinetics was found to be as athermal type. On the other hand, Mössbauer spectroscopy offered the paramagnetic austenite phase and ferromagnetic martensite phase with their volume fractions. Also, the internal magnetic field of the martensite was measured as 32.9T from the Mössbauer spectrometer.

Abstract
Exchange transfusion (ECT) has an important role in preventing kernicterus in the treatment of indirect hyperbilirubinemia of the newborn. In present study, the etiology of hyperbilirubinemia and complications of ECT were studied over a five-year period in the Eastern Mediterranean region of Turkey. We describe our experience of 89 ECTs performed from 2003-2008 in 79 newborns with hyperbilirubinemia. The mean gestational age was 37 +/- 2.1 weeks and the mean of peak total bilirubin levels was 28.1 +/- 6.4 mg/dl. The most common cause of hyperbilirubinemia was ABO isoimmunization (38%). Complications of ECT developed in 17 neonates (21.5%), the most common being thrombocytopenia and seizure. None of newborns died secondary to ECT. Our data showed higher morbidity rates associated with ECT in the treatment of hyperbilirubinemia in our region. In order to prevent adverse effects of ECT, serum bilirubin levels should be closely monitored in newborns with ABO immunization.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS) is characterized by the onset of NS (Nephrotic Syndrome) without systemic disease, hypocomplementemia, or other serious signs of renal disease. Hearing status is not very well known in MCNS. Our objective was to address this question and to find out remission and relapse periods of the syndrome would affect the hearing of the patients. METHODS AND PATIENTS Otologic status of 26 children with clinical MCNS was investigated in relapse and remission periods using audiometry and tympanometry. The pure tones that were obtained at the frequencies 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 6000 Hz were noted. Pure tone averages (PTAs) were calculated at 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 Hz frequencies. RESULTS In both remission and relapse periods, PTA of the patients did not change and was 13 dB. The frequency specific pure tone results were not significantly different between the right and left ears of the patients as well as between the remission and relapse periods (p > 0.05). In the relapsing and remission periods, type A tympanogram was encountered in 86.4% and 92.3% of the ears, respectively. Type B tympanogram was encountered in 11.5% and 3.8% of the ears in the relapsing and remission periods, respectively. Type C tympanogram was encountered in 3.8% of the ears both in the relapsing and remission periods. Differences between the tympanometry results were not significant (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION MCNS in childhood is not associated with an alteration in the hearing status, both in remission and relapse periods of the disease.

Abstract
Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor is a distinctive brain tumor appearing in infancy and early childhood. Leptomeningeal dissemination is common, both at presentation and relapse. Extracranial metastases of the central nervous system tumors are rarely seen. To our knowledge there is only one report with an atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor metastasizing via a ventriculoperitoneal shunt. We describe the first case of atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor of the central nervous system who developed lung metastasis without the presence of a shunt.

Abstract
Urticaria pigmentosa is the most common manifestation of mastocytosis, with the majority of cases undergoing spontaneous resolution, especially in children. Several reports have documented hematologic malignancies developing in patients with urticaria pigmentosa. We present a 4.5-year-old boy with urticaria pigmentosa who developed Wilms tumor. To our knowledge, coexisting urticaria pigmentosa and Wilms tumor have not previously been described.

Abstract
Bioadhesive vaginal tablets were prepared using poly(acrylic acid) (PAA); Methylcellulose (MC), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC) as bioadhesive polymers in different concentrations and acyclovir as drug by direct compression technique (DCT) and wet granulation technique (WGT). Physical tests were applied to the tablets. The swelling behavior of vaginal tablets in distilled water, lactic solution and cow vagina, acyclovir release rate in lactic solution and bioadhesion to vaginal mucosa in cow vagina, in situ, were investigated. Swelling of the tablets containing HPC, CMC and MC was very rapid and caused disintegration of the tablets. The swelling behaviour of the tablets containing HPMC lasted 6 h in lactic solution. The force (N) necessary to detach the tablets from the vaginal tissue was found to depend on concentration and type of the bioadhesive polymer. The tablets containing HPMC needed the most detachment force.

Abstract
In this study, controlled release dosage forms of dimenhydrinate were prepared with different polymers as MC, HEC, Carbopol 934, Eudragit RLPM and Eudragit NE 30 D at different concentrations (2.5-10%). Direct compression (DC) and wet granulation (WG) techniques were used to prepare the tablets. Magnesium stearate was the lubricant while starch gel was the binder. For the quality control of tablets prepared according to 11 different formulations, weight deviation, hardness, friability, diameter-height ratio, content uniformity of the active substance and in vitro dissolution techniques were performed. Dissolution rate of these tablets was controlled by USP XXII dissolution method and the profile of each tablet was plotted and only for F 5 was evaluated kinetically.

Abstract
In this preliminary study the efficacy of high-dose methylprednisolone (HDMP) during remission-induction chemotherapy was evaluated on 166 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The St. Jude Total Therapy Study XI protocol with minor modifications was used in this trial. Patients were randomized into two groups. Group A received conventional-dose (2 mg/kg/day orally) prednisolone, and group B received high-dose methylprednisolone (HDMP, Prednol-L, 900-600 mg/m2 orally) during remission-induction chemotherapy. Complete remission was achieved in 97% of the children. For the 80 patients who were followed up for 3 years, median follow-up was 44 (range 5-60) months and the 3-year event-free survival (EFS) rate was 68.5%) overall, 58.6% in group A and 78.4% in group B. The EFS among patients in group B was significantly higher than in group A (p=0.05). When we compared the 3-year EFS of groups A and B in the high-risk groups and high-risk subgroups with white blood cell (WBC) counts > or = 50 x 10(9)/l and age > or = 10 years, the survival rates were 45% versus 77.2%, 33% versus 78% and 45% versus 89%, respectively. During the follow-up of 162 patients, relapses were significantly higher in group A. Bone marrow relapses in 162 patients, and also in a subgroup of patients > or = 10 years of age were significantly higher in group A. These results suggest that HDMP during remission-induction chemotherapy improves long-term EFS, particularly for high-risk patients.

Abstract
Ketorolac tromethamine (KT) is a non-steroidal drug with potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity and is absorbed rapidly (Tmax < 1.0 h) with an efficiency > 87% following oral and intramuscular administration. The plasma half-life of ketorolac ranges from 1.1 to 6.0 h. Its oral bioavailability is estimated to be 80%. Ketorolac has been found 36 times more potent than phenylbutazone, approximately twice as potent as indomethacin, and three times more potent than naproxen in suppressing carrageenan-induced paw oedema in rat. In this study, microcapsules of KT were prepared by means of coacervation-phase separation technique induced by the addition of non-solvent, and release rates from microcapsules were studied. Eudragit S100 was used as the coating material. Coacervation was achieved by the addition of cyclohexane at 2 ml/min at 25 degrees C and 1:4 solvent: non-solvent ratio was used. The microcapsules were washed with cyclohexane to harden the wall and dried at room temperature. Microcapsules with core:wall ratio of 1:1 and 1:2 were prepared and the particles obtained by sieving with an average diameter of 177-500 microns were used. The yield was calculated and the release properties of KT were investigated by USP XXII paddle method and using UV spectrophotometry at 318 and 323 nm.

Abstract
A five-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital with fever and tender lymphadenopathy. She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL-L3). Because of infection she was given antibiotics and a blood transfusion. Her bone marrow was in remission after 15 days without chemotherapy. This case emphases the role of transfusion and/ or infection in obtaining complete remission without chemotherapy.
