Abstract
BACKGROUND Pregnant women have an increased risk of getting infected with SARS-CoV-2 and are more prone to severe illness. Data on foetal demise in affected pregnancies and its underlying aetiology is scarce and pathomechanisms remain largely unclear. CASE Herein we present the case of a pregnant woman with COVID-19 and intrauterine foetal demise. She had no previous obstetric or gynaecological history, and presented with mild symptoms at 34 + 3 weeks and no signs of foetal distress. At 35 + 6 weeks intrauterine foetal death was diagnosed. In the placental histopathology evaluation, we found inter- and perivillous fibrin depositions including viral particles in areas of degraded placental anatomy without presence of viral entry receptors and SARS-CoV-2 infection of the placenta. CONCLUSION This case demonstrates that maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection in the third trimester may lead to an unfavourable outcome for the foetus due to placental fibrin deposition in maternal COVID-19 disease possibly via a thrombogenic microenvironment, even when the foetus itself is not infected.

Abstract
The perinatal management of newborns with giant omphaloceles requires careful suspicion concerning ‘unexpected’ associated malformations. We describe a newborn with a combination of incomplete Pentalogy of Cantrell consisting of giant omphalocele, anterior congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and pericardial absence complicated by a hepatic rapidly involuting congenital hemangioma (RICH). A giant omphalocele was detected prenatally. Postnatally, staged closure of the omphalocele was planned. A mass of the liver was noted and (mis-)taken for a hematoma. In the further course, the baby developed cardiorespiratory insufficiency due to a central CDH which was excised. Subsequently, staged closure of the omphalocele became impossible. Specific workup revealed a mass in the left liver lobe. The mass was resected and the abdominal wall defect repaired. Histology confirmed the diagnosis of an RICH. The surgical treatment of newborns with giant omphaloceles requires a multidisciplinary neonatal support and an elaborate pediatric surgical armamentarium to cope with additional malformations.

Abstract
The dignity of adrenal masses in children varies from benign lesions like adenoma and ganglioneuroma to malignant tumors like adrenocortical carcinoma and neuroblastoma. Any surgical approach, especially minimally invasive surgery (MIS), requires careful risk stratification based on oncological and technical criteria. Herein, we present four patients who underwent MIS for adrenal masses. Laboratory testing differentiated between simple cysts and adenoma, but could not identify a child with adrenocortical tumor preoperatively. Analysis of image-defined risk factors excluded vascular encasement in all cases. All patients underwent laparoscopic adrenalectomy without complications. Histopathology revealed simple cyst, ganglioneuroblastoma, adenoma, and potentially malignant adrenocortical tumor in one patient/case each. All specimen showed clear margins and no recurrence was noted at a mean follow-up of 18 months.
