Abstract
BACKGROUND Non-sputum-based triage tests for tuberculosis are a priority for ending tuberculosis. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the late-prototype Xpert MTB Host Response (Xpert HR) blood-based assay. METHODS We conducted a prospective diagnostic accuracy study among outpatients with presumed tuberculosis in outpatient clinics in Viet Nam, India, the Philippines, Uganda, and South Africa. Eligible participants were aged 18 years or older and reported cough lasting at least 2 weeks. We excluded those receiving tuberculosis treatment in the preceding 12 months and those who were unwilling to consent. Xpert HR was performed on capillary or venous blood. Reference standard testing included sputum Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra and mycobacterial culture. We performed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis to identify the optimal cutoff value for the Xpert HR to achieve the target sensitivity of 90% or more while maximising specificity, then calculated diagnostic accuracy using this cutoff value. This study was prospectively registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04923958. FINDINGS Between July 13, 2021, and Aug 15, 2022, 2046 adults with at least 2 weeks of cough were identified, of whom 1499 adults (686 [45·8%] females and 813 [54·2%] males) had valid Xpert HR and reference standard results. 329 (21·9%) had microbiologically confirmed tuberculosis. Xpert HR had an area under the ROC curve of 0·89 (95% CI 0·86-0·91). The optimal cutoff value was less than or equal to -1·25, giving a sensitivity of 90·3% (95% CI 86·5-93·3; 297 of 329) and a specificity of 62·6% (95% CI 59·7-65·3; 732 of 1170). Sensitivity was similar across countries, by sex, and by subgroups, although specificity was lower in people living with HIV (45·1%, 95% CI 37·8-52·6) than in those not living with HIV (65·9%, 62·8-68·8; difference of 20·8%, 95% CI 13·0-28·6; p<0·0001). Xpert HR had high negative predictive value (95·8%, 95% CI 94·1-97·1), but positive predictive value was only 40·1% (95% CI 36·8-44·1). Using the Xpert HR as a triage test would have reduced confirmatory sputum testing by 57·3% (95% CI 54·2-60·4). INTERPRETATION Xpert HR did not meet WHO minimum specificity targets for a non-sputum-based triage test for pulmonary tuberculosis. Despite promise as a rule-out test that could reduce confirmatory sputum testing, further cost-effectiveness modelling and data on acceptability and usability are needed to inform policy recommendations. Abstract
Aims: To compare detection by real-time PCR of DNA from Mycoplasma bovis on mucosal swabs taken from the palatine tonsillar crypt and the mainstem bronchi of clinically asymptomatic calves after slaughter. Methods: We compared the sensitivity of mucosal swabs taken from two sites: the palatine tonsillar crypt and the mainstem bronchi. Paired samples were taken post-mortem at slaughter from 55 clinically well calves from an infected herd and were tested by real-time PCR for the presence of M. bovis-specific DNA. Results: Mycoplasma bovis DNA was detected in 51 palatine tonsillar crypt swabs (92.7 (95% CI = 82.4-98.0)%) and seven mainstem bronchial swabs (12.7 (95% CI = 5.3-24.5)%). All seven calves with positive mainstem bronchial swabs also had positive palatine tonsillar crypt swabs. Conclusions: When compared to mucosal swabs of the mainstem bronchi, mucosal swabs of the palatine tonsillar crypt were seven times more sensitive for the post-mortem detection of M. bovis DNA. The viability of detected M. bovis was not assessed, because any cattle carrying viable or non-viable M. bovis DNA were determined to be a potential risk to eradication. Palatine tonsillar crypt mucosa may be a useful anatomical site for real-time PCR detection of M. bovis DNA in naturally infected calves. More work is needed to define the persistence and viability of M. bovis at this anatomical site. Clinical relevance: The results of this study helped form the basis of surveillance tools used in M. bovis control and eradication efforts. Familiarity with these results may help veterinarians better communicate with their clients about the science behind the eradication efforts.

Abstract
This article examined the associations between three forms of homosexuality-related stigma (enacted, perceived, and internalized homosexual stigmas) with risky sexual behaviors, and to describe the mechanisms of these associations, among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Hanoi, Vietnam. We used respondent-driven sampling (RDS) to recruit 451 MSM into a cross-sectional study conducted from August 2010 to January 2011. Data were adjusted for recruitment patterns due to the RDS approach; logistic regression and path analyses were performed. Participants were young and single; most had attended at least some college. Nine out of ten participants engaged in sexual behaviors at moderate to high risk levels. Compared to those who had no enacted homosexual stigma, men having low and high levels of enacted homosexual stigma, respectively, were 2.23 times (95 % CI 1.35-3.69) and 2.20 times (95 % CI 1.04-4.76) more likely to engage in high levels of sexual risk behaviors. In addition, there was an indirect effect of perceived homosexual stigma and internalized homosexual stigma on sexual risk behaviors through depression and drug and alcohol use. Our study provides valuable information to our understanding of homosexual stigma in Vietnam, highlighting the need for provision of coping skills against stigma to the gay community and addressing drinking and drug use among MSM, to improve the current HIV prevention interventions in Vietnam.

Abstract
Google Trends (GT) is a Web-based surveillance tool used to explore the searching trends of specific queries on Google. Recent studies have suggested the utility of GT in predicting outbreaks of influenza and other diseases. However, this utility has not been thoroughly evaluated for allergic diseases. Therefore, we investigated the utility of GT for predicting the epidemiology of allergic rhinitis. In the USA, GT for allergic rhinitis showed repetitive seasonality that peaked in late April and early May and then rapidly decreased, and a second small peak occurred in September. These trends are highly correlated with the searching trends for other queries such as 'pollen count', antihistamines such as loratadine and cetirizine (all r > 0.88 and all P < 0.001), and even the total pollen count collected from 21 pollen counters across the USA (r = 0.928, P < 0.001). Google Trends for allergic rhinitis was similar to the monthly changes in rhinitis symptoms according to the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III, sales for Claritin(®) and all over-the-counter antihistamines, and the number of monthly page views of 'claritin.com'. In conclusion, GT closely reflects the real-world epidemiology of allergic rhinitis in the USA and could potentially be used as a monitoring tool for allergic rhinitis.

Abstract
AIMS Dystrophic neurites are associated with β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques in the brains of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and are also found in some specific areas of normal, aged brains. This study assessed the molecular characteristics of dystrophic neurites in normal ageing and its difference from AD. METHODS We compared the dystrophic neurites in normal aged human brains (age 20-70 years) and AD brains (Braak stage 4-6) by immunostaining against ChAT, synaptophysin, γ-tubulin, cathepsin-D, Aβ1-16, Aβ17-24, amyloid precursor protein (APP)-CT695 and APP-NT. We then tested the reproducibility in C57BL/6 mice neurone cultures. RESULTS In normal, aged mice and humans, we found an increase in clustered dystrophic neurites of cholinergic neurones in CA1 regions of the hippocampus and layer II and III regions of the entorhinal cortex, which are the major and earliest affected areas in AD. These dystrophic neurites showed accumulation of sAPPα peptides cleaved from the amyloid precursor protein by α-secretase rather than Aβ or C-terminal fragments. In contrast, Aβ and APP-CTFs accumulated in the dystrophic neurites in and around Aβ plaques of AD patients. Several experiments suggested that the accumulation of sAPPα resulted from ageing-related proteasomal dysfunction. CONCLUSIONS Ageing-associated impairment of the proteasomal system and accumulation of sAPPα at cholinergic neurites in specific areas of brain regions associated with memory could be associated with the normal decline of memory in aged individuals. In addition, these age-related changes might be the most vulnerable targets of pathological insults that result in pathological accumulation of Aβ and/or APP-CTFs and lead to neurodegenerative conditions such as AD.

Abstract
AIMS/HYPOTHESIS Fractalkine (FKN) is a unique chemokine that works as a chemoattractant and an adhesion molecule. Previous studies have demonstrated that FKN plays a role in ischaemic and protein-overload renal injury via its cognate receptor chemokine (C-X3-C motif) receptor 1 (CX3CR1). However, involvement of the FKN/CX3CR1 system in diabetic nephropathy remains unclear. We examined the role of FKN/CX3CR1 in diabetic mice and mouse mesangial cells (MMCs). METHODS Streptozotocin (50 mg kg(-1) day(-1)) was intraperitoneally administered for 5 days to male Cx3cr1-knockout (KO) mice and wild-type (WT) mice. MMCs transfected with Fkn (also known as Cx3cl1) or Cx3cr1 siRNA, respectively, were used to elucidate the role of FKN/CX3CR1 in extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis. RESULTS At 12 weeks, diabetic Cx3cr1 KO mice showed no significant changes in plasma glucose, but markers of renal inflammation, fibrosis and ECM, such as the fractional mesangial area, fibronectin and collagen, were significantly lower in diabetic Cx3cr1 KO mice compared with diabetic WT mice. High glucose, oleic acid and TGF-β1 stimulated FKN and CX3CR1 expression, together with the expression of ECM proteins in MMCs, but the effects were significantly attenuated by Fkn or Cx3cr1 siRNA. More importantly, FKN itself increased mesangial ECM through CX3CR1 and subsequent activation of reactive oxygen species and mitogen-activated protein kinases. A neutralising TGF-β antibody inhibited FKN/CX3CR1 in MMCs treated with diabetic stimuli and decreased FKN-induced ECM accumulation. CONCLUSIONS/INTERPRETATION These results demonstrate that FKN/CX3CR1 may play an important role in diabetic renal injury through upregulation of ECM synthesis and could therefore be a therapeutic target for preventing diabetic nephropathy.

Abstract
Mesangial cell proliferation is one of the main features of chronic renal allograft rejection. One unique feature of fractalkine (CX3CL1) is its existence as both a membrane-tethered and a soluble form. Fractalkine expression is increased in acute and chronic allograft rejection. However, its role in mesangial cell proliferation has not yet been clearly explored. Thus, the present study examined whether fractalkine induced mesangial cell proliferation through production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), two known mediators of mesangial cell proliferation. Growth-arrested and synchronized mouse mesangial cells were stimulated with fractalkine in the presence versus absence of inhibitors against ROS, extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK), and p38 MAPK. Cell proliferation was assessed by methylthiazoletetrazolium assay, dichlorofluorescein (DCF)-sensitive cellular ROS production by a fluorometer, and MAPK activation by Western blot analysis. Fractalkine (10-50 ng/mL) significantly increased mesangial cell proliferation at 24 hours in a dose-dependent manner, an effect that was abrogated by the ROS and MAPK inhibitors. Fractalkine (50 ng/mL) also induced cellular ROS production and activation of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK in mesangial cells. These results demonstrated that fractalkine can induce mesangial cell proliferation through production of cellular ROS and activation of MAPK.

Abstract
Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease worldwide. Excess accumulation of extracellular matrix and the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition contribute to renal fibrosis, which is associated with DKD. The present study examined whether delayed treatment with human umbilical cord blood-derived stem cells (hUCB-SC) showed a therapeutic effect on DKD progression. Experimental diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ; 50 mg/kg) into 6-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats. Age-matched control rats received an equivalent volume of sodium citrate buffer alone. At 4 weeks after the STZ injection when diabetic renal injury had developed, hUCB-SC were administered (1 × 10(6) cells/rat) through the tail vein. Four weeks after administering the hUCB-SC, rats were sacrificed and we measured indices of DKD, including urinary protein excretion as well as fibronectin, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and E-cadherin mRNA, and protein expression. Diabetic rats developed significantly increased urinary protein excretion and renal hypertrophy compared to those in control rats. Renal expression of fibronectin and α-SMA mRNA, and protein were increased significantly in diabetic rats compared to those in the controls. E-cadherin protein expression in diabetic kidneys decreased significantly. Intravenously administered hUCB-SC effectively reduced proteinuria, renal fibronectin, and α-SMA up-regulation, as well as renal E-cadherin down-regulation in diabetic rats without a significant effect on blood glucose. Engrafted hUCB-SC in diabetic kidneys were confirmed by human DNA PKcs. The results demonstrated that delayed treatment with hUCB-SC attenuated the progression of diabetic renal injury.

Abstract
Fractalkine (CX3CL1) is a unique chemokine that functions not only as a chemokine but also as an adhesion molecule. Fractalkine plays an important role in the recruitment of macrophages into the kidneys by binding to its specific receptor CX3CR1, and renal fractalkine expression was shown to be increased in chronic renal allograft rejection. Considering that microcapillary inflammation is a key feature of chronic renal allograft rejection, the present study examined whether monocytes bind to mesangial cells cultured in the presence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) through fractalkine/CX3CR1 in order to understand their regulation with respect to inflammation-induced renal allograft dysfunction. Mouse mesangial cells were stimulated with LPS in the presence or absence of fractalkine or CX3CR1 siRNA. Calcein-AM-labeled monocytes were used to evaluate monocyte binding. Fractalkine and CX3CR1 mRNA and protein expression were measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively. LPS at 100 ng/mL significantly increased monocyte binding to mesangial cells. Each siRNA against fractalkine or CX3CR1 effectively inhibited LPS-induced monocyte-mesangial cell binding. Fractalkine and CX3CR1 mRNA expression were enhanced in mesangial cells stimulated with LPS. Fractalkine protein synthesis in media and lysate of mesangial cells were also induced by LPS. These results demonstrated that LPS induces monocyte-mesangial cell binding through the fractalkine/CX3CR1 system and suggested that fractalkine/CX3CR1 system may contribute to renal inflammation leading to chronic renal allograft rejection.

Abstract
Tubulointerstitial fibrosis, which is characterized by the progressive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM), is the main feature of chronic renal allograft dysfunction. Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is the key inducer of tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), a major inhibitor of ECM degradation, is increasingly recognized to play an important role in renal fibrosis. ECM accumulation is the net result of ECM synthesis and degradation. We previously reported that reactive oxygen species (ROS) and subsequent activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) are required for the TGF-β1-induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in renal proximal tubular epithelial cells. In the present study, we examined the role of the ROS-MAPK pathways in TGF-β1-induced fibronectin and PAI-1 up-regulation in renal tubular epithelial cells. Growth arrested, synchronized normal rat kidney epithelial (NRK-52E) cells were stimulated with TGF-β1 (0.2-20 ng/mL) or H(2)O(2) (1-500 μmol/L) in the presence or absence of inhibitors of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase (diphenyleneiodonium [DPI] and apocynin [Apo]) and MAPK (PD98059, an MEK inhibitor, or a p38 MAPK inhibitor) for up to 48 hours. Both TGF-β1 and H(2)O(2) increased fibronectin and PAI-1 secretion in dose-dependent manners. Chemical inhibition of NADPH oxidase, extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), or p38 MAPK all inhibited TGF-β1-induced and H(2)O(2)-induced fibronectin and PAI-1 up-regulation. These results suggested that NADPH oxidase-mediated ROS and subsequent ERK and p38 MAPK activation play important roles in ECM accumulation in the renal tubulointerstitium.

Abstract
We report on a search for CP violation in τ(±)→K(S)(0)π(±)ν(τ) decays using a data sample of 699 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB electron-positron asymmetric-energy collider. The CP asymmetry is measured in four bins of the invariant mass of the K(S)(0)π(±) system and found to be compatible with zero with a precision of O(10(-3)) in each mass bin. Limits for the CP violation parameter Im(η(S)) are given at the 90% confidence level. These limits are |Im(η(S))| < 0.026 or better, depending on the parametrization used to describe the hadronic form factors, and improve upon previous limits by 1 order of magnitude.

Abstract
The suppressed decay chain B(-)→DK(-), D→K(+)π(-), where D indicates a D(¯)(0) or D(0) state, provides important information on the CP-violating angle ϕ(3). We measure the ratio R(DK) of the decay rates to the favored mode B(-)→DK(-), D→K(-)π(+) to be R(DK)=[1.63(-0.41)(+0.44)(stat)(-0.13)(+0.07)(syst)]×10(-2), which indicates the first evidence of the signal with a significance of 4.1σ. We also measure the asymmetry A(DK) between the charge-conjugate decays to be A(DK)=-0.39(-0.28)(+0.26)(stat)(-0.03)(+0.04)(syst). The results are based on the full 772×10(6) BB(¯) pair data sample collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector.

Abstract
We have searched for CP violation in the decays D(0)→K(S)(0)P(0) where P(0) denotes a neutral pseudoscalar meson that is either a π(0), η, or η' using KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 791 fb(-1) collected with the Belle detector. No evidence of significant CP violation is observed. We report the most precise CP asymmetry measurement in the decay D(0)→K(S)(0)π(0) to date: A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)π(0))=(-0.28±0.19±0.10)%. We also report the first measurements of CP asymmetries in the decays D(0)→K(S)(0)η and D(0)→K(S)(0)η': A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)η)=(+0.54±0.51±0.16)% and A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)η')=(+0.98±0.67±0.14)%, respectively.

Abstract
We report the observation of B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(980) and evidence for B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(1370), which are CP eigenstate decay modes. These results are obtained from 121.4 fb⁻¹ of data collected at the Υ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e⁻ collider. We measure the branching fractions B(B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(980); f₀(980)→π(+)π⁻)=(1.16(-0.19)(+0.31)(stat)(-0.17)(+0.15)(syst)(-0.18)(+0.26)(N(B(s)((*))B(s)((*)))))×10⁻⁴ with a significance of 8.4σ, and B(B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(1370); f₀(1370)→π(+)π⁻)=(0.34(-0.14)(+0.11)(stat)(-0.02)(+0.03)(syst)(-0.05)(+0.08)(N(B(s)((*))B(s)((*)))))×10⁻⁴ with a significance of 4.2σ. The last error listed is due to uncertainty in the number of produced B(s)((*))B(s)((*)) pairs.

Abstract
We have made the first observation of B(s)(0)→D(s)(*)+ D(s)(*)- decays using 23.6 fb(-1) of data recorded by the Belle experiment running on the Υ(5S) resonance. The branching fractions are measured to be B(B(s)(0)→D(s)+ D(s)-)=(1.03(-0.32-0.25)(+0.39+0.26))%, B(B(s)(0)→D(s)(*±) D(s)(∓))=(2.75(-0.71)(+0.83)±0.69)%, and B(B(s)(0)→D(s)*+ D(s)*-)=(3.08(-1.04-0.86)(+1.22+0.85))%; the sum is B[B(s)(0)→D(s)(*)+ D(s)(*)-]=(6.85(-1.30-1.80)(+1.53+1.79))%. Assuming B(s)(0)→D(s)(*)+ D(s)(*)- saturates decays to CP-even final states, the branching fraction determines the ratio ΔΓ(s)/cosφ, where ΔΓ(s) is the difference in widths between the two B(s)-B(s) mass eigenstates, and φ is a CP-violating weak phase. Taking CP violation to be negligibly small, we obtain ΔΓ(s)/Γ(s)=0.147(-0.030)(+0.036)(stat)(-0.041)(+0.042)(syst), where Γ(s) is the mean decay width.

Abstract
We report a first measurement of inclusive B→Xsη decays, where Xs is a charmless state with unit strangeness. The measurement is based on a pseudoinclusive reconstruction technique and uses a sample of 657×10(6)BB pairs accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. For MXs < 2.6 GeV/c2, we measure a branching fraction of [26.1±3.0(stat)-2.1+1.9(syst)-7.1+4.0(model)]×10(-5) and a direct CP asymmetry of ACP=-0.13±0.04-0.03+0.02. Over half of the signal occurs in the range MXs > 1.8 GeV/c2.

Abstract
We search for dimuon decays of a low mass particle in the decays B0→K*0 X and B0→ρ0 X using a data sample of 657×10(6)BB events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. We find no evidence for such a particle in the mass range from 212 MeV/c2 to 300 MeV/c2 for lifetimes below 10(-12) s, and set upper limits on its branching fractions. In particular, we search for a particle with a mass of 214.3 MeV/c2 reported by the HyperCP experiment, and obtain upper limits on the products B(B0→K*0 X)×B(X→μ+ μ- )<2.26(2.27)×10(-8) and B(B0→ρ0 X)×B(X→μ+ μ-)<1.73(1.73)×10(-8) at 90% C.L. for a scalar (vector) X particle.

Ahp2 (Hop2) function in Arabidopsis thaliana (Ler) is required for stabilization of close alignment and synaptonemal complex formation except for the two short arms that contain nucleolus organizer regions. Abstract
A cytological comparative analysis of male meiocytes was performed for Arabidopsis wild type and the ahp2 (hop2) mutant with emphasis on ahp2's largely uncharacterized prophase I. Leptotene progression appeared normal in ahp2 meiocytes; chromosomes exhibited regular axis formation and assumed a typical polarized nuclear organization. In contrast, 4',6'-diamidino-2-phenylindole-stained ahp2 pachytene chromosome spreads demonstrated a severe reduction in stabilized pairing. However, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis of sections from meiocytes revealed that ahp2 chromosome axes underwent significant amounts of close alignment (44% of total axis). This apparent paradox strongly suggests that the Ahp2 protein is involved in the stabilization of homologous chromosome close alignment. Fluorescent in situ hybridization in combination with Zyp1 immunostaining revealed that ahp2 mutants undergo homologous synapsis of the nucleolus-organizer-region-bearing short arms of chromosomes 2 and 4, despite the otherwise "nucleus-wide" lack of stabilized pairing. The duration of ahp2 zygotene was significantly prolonged and is most likely due to difficulties in chromosome alignment stabilization and subsequent synaptonemal complex formation. Ahp2 and Mnd1 proteins have previously been shown, "in vitro," to form a heterodimer. Here we show, "in situ," that the Ahp2 and Mnd1 proteins are synchronous in their appearance and disappearance from meiotic chromosomes. Both the Ahp2 and Mnd1 proteins localize along the chromosomal axis. However, localization of the Ahp2 protein was entirely foci-based whereas Mnd1 protein exhibited an immunostaining pattern with some foci along the axis and a diffuse staining for the rest of the chromosome.

Abstract
First observations of the B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) π+, B(s)(0) → D(s)(-) ρ+ and B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+ decays are reported together with measurements of their branching fractions: B(B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) π+) = [2.4(-0.4)(+0.5)(stat) ± 0.3(syst) ± 0.4(f(s))]×10(-3), B(B(s)(0) → D(s)(-) ρ+) = [8.5(-1.2)(+1.3)(stat) ± 1.1(syst) ± 1.3(f(s))]×10(-3) and B(B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+) = [11.9(-2.0)(+2.2)(stat) ± 1.7(syst) ± 1.8(f(s))]×10(-3) (f(s) = N(B(s)(*) B(s)(*))/N(bb)). From helicity-angle distributions, we measured the longitudinal polarization fraction in B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+ decays to be f(L)(B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+) = 1.05(-0.10)(+0.08)(stat)(-0.04)(+0.03)(syst). These results are based on a 23.6 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Υ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- collider.

Abstract
We have searched for CP violation in the charmed meson decays D((s))(+) --> K(S)(0)pi(+) and D((s))(+) --> K(S)(0)K(+) using 673 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. No evidence for CP violation is observed. We report the most sensitive CP asymmetry measurements to date for these decays: A(CP)(D(+)-->K(S)(0)pi(+)) = (-0.71 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.20)%, A(CP)(D(s)(+) --> K(S)(0)pi(+)) = (+5.45 +/- 2.50 +/- 0.33)%, A(CP)(D(+) --> K(S)(0)K(+)) = (-0.16 +/- 0.58 +/- 0.25)%, and A(CP)(D(s)(+) --> K(S)(0)K(+)) = (+0.12 +/- 0.36 +/- 0.22)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract
The process gammagamma-->phiJ/psi is measured using a data sample of 825 fb{-1} collected with the Belle detector. A narrow peak of 8.8{-3.2}{+4.2} events, with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations including systematic uncertainty, is observed. The mass and natural width of the structure [named X(4350)] are measured to be [4350.6{-5.1}{+4.6}(stat)+/-0.7(syst)] MeV/c{2} and [13{-9}{+18}(stat)+/-4(syst)] MeV, respectively. The product of its two-photon decay width and branching fraction to phiJ/psi is [6.7{-2.4}{+3.2}(stat)+/-1.1(syst)] eV for J{P}=0{+}, or [1.5{-0.6}{+0.7}(stat)+/-0.3(syst)] eV for J{P}=2{+}. No signal for the Y(4140)-->phiJ/psi structure reported by the CDF Collaboration in B-->K{+}phiJ/psi decays is observed, and limits of Gamma_{gammagamma}(Y(4140))B(Y(4140)-->phiJ/psi)<41 eV for J{P}=0;{+} or <6.0 eV for J{P}=2{+} are determined at the 90% C.L. This disfavors the scenario in which the Y(4140) is a D{s}{*+}D{s}{*-} molecule.

Abstract
We report the results of a search for a charmoniumlike state produced in the process gammagamma-->omegaJ/psi in the 3.9-4.2 GeV/c{2} mass region. We observe a significant enhancement, which is well described by a resonant shape with mass M=(3915+/-3+/-2) MeV/c{2} and total width Gamma=(17+/-10+/-3) MeV. This enhancement may be related to one or more of the three charmoniumlike states so far reported in the 3.90-3.95 GeV/c{2} mass region.

Abstract
We present the partial branching fraction for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays and the corresponding value of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V{ub}|, using a multivariate analysis method to access approximately 90% of the B-->X{u}lnu phase space. This approach dramatically reduces the theoretical uncertainties from the b-quark mass and nonperturbative QCD compared to all previous inclusive measurements. The results are based on a sample of 657x10{6} BB[over ] pairs collected with the Belle detector. We find that DeltaB(B-->X{u}lnu;p(l){*B}>1.0 GeV/c)=1.963x(1+/-0.088{stat}+/-0.081{syst})x10{-3}. Corresponding values of |V{ub}| are extracted using several theoretical calculations.

Abstract
Using 605 fb(-1) of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance we present a measurement of the inclusive radiative B-meson decay channel, B-->X(s)gamma. For the lower photon energy thresholds of 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0 GeV, as defined in the rest frame of the B meson, we measure the partial branching fraction and the mean and variance of the photon energy spectrum. At the 1.7 GeV threshold we obtain the partial branching fraction BF(B-->X(s)}gamma)=(3.45+/-0.15+/-0.40)x10(-4), where the errors are statistical and systematic.

Abstract
We study B --> K(*)l+l- decays (l = e, mu) based on a data sample of 657 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We report the differential branching fraction, isospin asymmetry, K* polarization, and the forward-backward asymmetry (A(FB)) as functions of q2 = M(ll)(2)c2. The fitted A(FB) spectrum exceeds the standard model expectation by 2.7 standard deviations. The measured branching fractions are B(B --> K*l+l-) = (10.7(-1.0)(+1.1) +/- 0.9) x 10(-7) and B(B --> Kl+l-) = (4.8(-0.4)(+0.5) +/- 0.3) x 10(-7), where the first errors are statistical and the second are systematic, with the muon to electron ratios R(K*) = 0.83 +/- 0.17 +/- 0.08 and R(K) = 1.03 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.06.

Abstract
We report the first observation of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D_{s};{+}-->K;{+}K;{+}pi;{-} using 605 fb;{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e;{+}e;{-} collider. The branching ratio with respect to its Cabibbo-favored counterpart B(D_{s};{+}-->K;{+}K;{+}pi;{-})/B(D_{s};{+}-->K;{+}K;{-}pi;{+}) is (0.229+/-0.028+/-0.012)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. We also report a significantly improved measurement of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D;{+}-->K;{+}pi;{+}pi;{-}, with a branching ratio B(D;{+}-->K;{+}pi;{+}pi;{-})/B(D;{+}-->K;{-}pi;{+}pi;{+})=(0.569+/-0.018+/-0.014)%.

Abstract
We report the first measurement of time-dependent CP asymmetry in B(0)-->K(S)(0)rho(0)gamma decays based on 657 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider. We measure the CP-violating parameter S_{K_{S};{0}rho;{0}gamma}=0.11+/-0.33(stat)-0.09+0.05(syst) from a signal of 212+/-17 events. We also obtain the effective direct CP-violating parameter A{eff}=0.05+/-0.18(stat)+/-0.06(syst) for mK(S)0pi+pi- <1.8 GeV/c(2) and 0.6 GeV/c(2)<m pi+pi- <0.9 GeV/c2.

Abstract
We present the results of a study of the charmless vector-vector decay B0-->omegaK*0 with 657 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We measure the branching fraction to be B(B0-->omegaK*0) = [1.8+/-0.7(stat)+/-0.3(syst)]x 10(-6) with 3.0sigma significance. We also perform a helicity analysis of the omega and K*0 vector mesons, and obtain the longitudinal polarization fraction fL(B0-->omegaK*0) = 0.56+/-0.29(stat) -0.08(+0.18)(syst). Finally, we measure a large nonresonant branching fraction B[B0-->omegaK+pi(-);M Kpi in(0.755,1.250) GeV/c2] = [5.1+/-0.7(stat)+/-0.7(syst)]x 10(-6) with a significance of 9.5sigma.

Abstract
We report a measurement of the exclusive e+ e- -->Lambda+_(c)Lambda-_(c) cross section as a function of center-of-mass energy near the Lambda+_(c)Lambda-_(c) threshold. A clear peak with a significance of 8.2sigma is observed in the Lambda+_(c)Lambda-_(c) invariant mass distribution just above threshold. With an assumption of a resonance origin for the observed peak, a mass and width of M=[4634 (+8)_(-7)(stat)(+5)_(-8)(syst)] MeV/c(2) and Gamma_(tot)=[92 (+40)_(-24)(stat)(+10)_(-21)(syst)] MeV are determined. The analysis is based on a study of events with initial-state-radiation photons in a data sample collected with the Belle detector at the Upsilon(4S) resonance and nearby continuum with an integrated luminosity of 695 fb(-1) at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider.

Abstract
We report new measurements of the decays B+-->rho+gamma, B0-->rho0gamma, and B0-->omegagamma using a data sample of 657x10(6) B meson pairs accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We measure branching fractions B(B+-->rho+gamma)=(8.7_-2.7-1.1;+2.9+0.9)x10(-7), B(B0-->rho0gamma)=(7.8_-1.6-1.0;+1.7+0.9)x10(-7), and B(B0-->omegagamma)=(4.0_-1.7;+1.9+/-1.3)x10(-7). We also report the isospin asymmetry Delta(rhogamma)=-0.48_-0.19-0.09;+0.21+0.08 and the first measurement of the direct CP-violating asymmetry ACP(B+-->rho+gamma)=-0.11+/-0.32+/-0.09, where the first and second errors are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Abstract
We report on a search for the doubly Cabibbo suppressed decay B+-->D*+pi0, based on a data sample of 657x10(6) BB pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We find no significant signal and set an upper limit of B(B+-->D*+pi0)<3.6x10(-6) at the 90% confidence level. This limit can be used to constrain the ratio between suppressed and favored B-->D*pi decay amplitudes, r<0.051, at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract
Using a 492 fb{-1} data sample collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e{+}e{-} collider, we observe the decay B{0}-->ppK*0 with a branching fraction of (1.18{-0.25}{+0.29}(stat)+/-0.11(syst))x10{-6}. We study the decay dynamics of B{0}-->ppK*0 and compare with B{+}-->ppK*+. The K*0 meson is found to be almost 100% polarized (with a fraction of (101+/-13+/-3)% in the helicity zero state), while the K*+ meson has a (32+/-17+/-9)% fraction in the helicity zero state. The direct CP asymmetries for B{0}-->ppK*0 and B{+}-->ppK*+ are measured to be -0.08+/-0.20+/-0.02 and -0.01+/-0.19+/-0.02, respectively. In addition, we report improved measurements of the branching fractions B(B{+}-->ppK*+)=(3.38{-0.60}{+0.73}+/-0.39)x10{-6} and B(B{0}-->ppK{0})=(2.51{-0.29}{+0.35}+/-0.21)x10{-6}, which supersede our previous measurements.

Abstract
We present a measurement of the branching fraction B(D{s}{+}-->mu{+}nu{mu}) using a 548 fb{-1} data sample collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e{+}e{-} collider. The D{s} momentum is determined by reconstruction of the system recoiling against DKgammaX in events of the type e{+}e{-}-->D{s}{*}DKX, D{s}{*}-->D{s}gamma, where X represents additional pions or photons from fragmentation. This full-reconstruction method provides high resolution in the neutrino momentum and thus good background separation, equivalent to that achieved by experiments at the tau-charm factories. We obtain the branching fraction B(D{s}{+}-->mu{+}nu{mu})=[6.44+/-0.76(stat)+/-0.57(syst)]x10{-3}, implying a D{s} decay constant of f{D{s}}=[275+/-16(stat)+/-12(syst)] MeV.

Abstract
We report a study of the processes e+e- -->J/psiD*D[over](*). In J/psiD*D[over]* we observe a significant enhancement in the D*D[over]* invariant mass spectrum, which we interpret as a new charmoniumlike state and denote X(4160). The X(4160) parameters are M=(4156(-20)+25+/-15) MeV/c2 and Gamma=(139(-61)+111+/-21) MeV. We also report a new measurement of the X(3940) mass and width: M=(3942(-6)+7+/-6) MeV/c2 and Gamma=(37(-15)+26+/-8) MeV. The analysis is based on a 693 fb(-1) data sample recorded near the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider.
