Abstract
Ferroelectricity, which has diverse important applications such as memory elements, capacitors, and sensors, was first discovered in a molecular compound, Rochelle salt, in 1920 by Valasek. Owing to their superiorities of lightweight, biocompatibility, structural tunability, mechanical flexibility, etc., the past decade has witnessed the renaissance of molecular ferroelectrics as promising complementary materials to commercial inorganic ferroelectrics. Thus, on the 100th anniversary of ferroelectricity, it is an opportune time to look into the future, specifically into how to push the boundaries of material design in molecular ferroelectric systems and finally overcome the hurdles to their commercialization. Herein, we present a comprehensive and accessible review of the appealing development of molecular ferroelectrics over the past 10 years, with an emphasis on their structural diversity, chemical design, exceptional properties, and potential applications. We believe that it will inspire intense, combined research efforts to enrich the family of high-performance molecular ferroelectrics and attract widespread interest from physicists and chemists to better understand the structure-function relationships governing improved applied functional device engineering.

Abstract
PURPOSE This research was performed to evaluate the relationship between hypertension (HTN) and abdominal obesity index in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). METHODS Totally 1657 participants with T2DM (mean age 54 ± 12 years; 38.02% female) were enrolled. They were divided into the groups of HTN (n = 775) and non-HTN (n = 882). Anthropometric and biochemical indicators were measured and collected. A bioelectrical impedance analyzer was used to measure visceral and subcutaneous fat areas. RESULTS Compared with the HTN group, the non-HTN group had a lower level of Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) (p < 0.001). Meanwhile, among tertiles of CVAI, as CVAI increased, the proportion of patients with HTN increased, which was 33.51%, 44.30%, and 62.50%, respectively. CVAI was shown to have a significant positive correlation with HTN. (r = 0.258, p < 0.001). CVAI was independently related to an elevated risk of HTN by binary logistic regression analyses, and the OR was (95% CI) 1.013 (1.010-1.016, p < 0.001) after adjustment. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of CVAI predicted HTN in T2DM patients was greater than those of other abdominal obesity indices (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION We found that CVAI was highly positively correlated with HTN in T2DM. Compared with other indices of abdominal obesity, such as WC, BMI, WHR, VAI, and LAP, the CVAI showed superior discriminative ability in T2DM complicated with HTN. Therefore, more attention should be paid to CVAI in T2DM.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct a prediction model for fetal growth restriction (FGR) during the first trimester of pregnancy and evaluate its screening performance. METHODS This was a prospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies that underwent routine ultrasound screening at 11 to 13 + 6 weeks at the Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between January 2019 and April 2022. Basic clinical information, ultrasound indicators and serum biomarkers of pregnant women were collected. Fetal weight assessment was based on the fetal growth curve for the Southern Chinese population. FGR was diagnosed according to Delphi consensus criteria. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (lasso) regression was used to select variables for inclusion in the model. Discrimination, calibration and clinical effectiveness of the model were evaluated in training and validation cohorts. RESULTS A total of 1188 pregnant women were included, of whom 108 had FGR. Lasso regression identified seven predictive features, including history of maternal hypertension, maternal smoking or passive smoking, gravidity, uterine artery pulsatility index, ductus venosus pulsatility index and multiples of the median values of placental growth factor and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1. The nomogram prediction model constructed from these seven variables accurately predicted FGR, and the area under the receiver-operating-characteristics curve in the validation cohort was 0.82 (95% CI, 0.74-0.90). The calibration curve and Hosmer-Lemeshow test demonstrated good calibration, and the clinical decision curve and clinical impact curve supported its practical value in a clinical setting. CONCLUSION The multi-index prediction model for FGR has good predictive value during the first trimester. © 2023 The Authors. Abstract
Three-wave (triad) resonance in a uniformly stratified fluid is investigated as a case study of energy transfer among oscillatory modes. The existence of a degenerate triad is demonstrated explicitly, where two components have identical group velocity. An illuminating example is a resonance involving waves from modes 1, 3, 5 families, but many other combinations are possible. The physical applications and nonlinear dynamics of rogue waves derived analytically in the literature are examined. Exact solutions with four free parameters (two related to the amplitudes of the background plane waves, two related to the frequencies of slowly varying envelopes) describe motions localized in both space and time. The differences between rogue waves of the degenerate versus the nondegenerate cases are highlighted. The phase and profile of the degenerate case rogue waves are correlated. The volume or energy of the rogue wave (defined as the total extent or energy contents of the fluid set in motion for the duration of the rogue wave) may change drastically, if the wave envelope parameters vary. Pulsating modes (breathers) have been studied previously by layered-fluid and modified Korteweg-de Vries models. Here we extend the consideration to stratified fluids but for the simpler case of nondegenerate triads. Instabilities of fission and fusion of breathers are confirmed computationally with Floquet analysis. This knowledge should prove useful for energy transfer processes in the oceans.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the differential expression of Pax3, Rad51 and VEGF-C in esophageal gastric junction adenocarcinoma and distal gastric adenocarcinoma and their relationship with cancer occurrence and development. 57 patients with gastric cancer were included and divided into esophageal gastric junction adenocarcinoma group (n=28) and distal gastric adenocarcinoma group (n=29). The positive expressions of Pax3, Rad51 and VEGF-C in the control group were lower than those in the esophageal gastric junction adenocarcinoma group and distal gastric adenocarcinoma group respectively (P<0.05). In esophageal gastric junction adenocarcinoma with low differentiation, positive expressions of Pax3, Rad51, and VEGF-C surpassed those in high/medium differentiation (P<0.05). Serosa-infiltrated cases exhibited higher Pax3 and Rad51 expressions compared to non-infiltrated cases (P<0.05). Rad51 and VEGF-C positivity were notably elevated in cases with lymph node metastasis compared to those without (P<0.05). Distal gastric adenocarcinoma displayed higher VEGF expression than middle/low differentiated adenocarcinomas. Rad51 expression was significantly higher in women than in men (P<0.05). The positive rates of Pax3, Rad51, and VEGF-C were markedly increased in esophageal gastric junction adenocarcinoma and distal gastric adenocarcinoma compared to normal gastric tissue, and these were associated with the degree of differentiation, depth of invasion, and lymph node metastasis in patients. Particularly, Rad51 exhibited a positive correlation with cancer cell differentiation, invasion depth, and lymph node metastasis in cancer tissue.

Abstract
With outstanding advantages of chemical synthesis, structural diversity, and mechanical flexibility, molecular ferroelectrics have attracted increasing attention, demonstrating themselves as promising candidates for next-generation wearable electronics and flexible devices in the film form. However, it remains a challenge to grow high-quality thin films of molecular ferroelectrics. To address the above issue, a volume-confined method is utilized to achieve ultrasmooth single-crystal molecular ferroelectric thin films at the sub-centimeter scale, with the thickness controlled in the range of 100-1000 nm. More importantly, the preparation method is applicable to most molecular ferroelectrics and has no dependency on substrates, showing excellent reproducibility and universality. To demonstrate the application potential, two-dimensional (2D) transitional metal dichalcogenide semiconductor/molecular ferroelectric heterostructures are prepared and investigated by optical spectroscopic method, proving the possibility of integrating molecular ferroelectrics with 2D layered materials. These results may unlock the potential for preparing and developing high-performance devices based on molecular ferroelectric thin films.

Abstract
On the path of persisting Moore's Law, one of the biggest obstacles is the "Boltzmann tyranny," which defines the lower limit of power consumption of individual transistors. Negative capacitance (NC) in ferroelectrics could provide a solution and has garnered significant attention in the fields of nanoelectronics, materials science, and solid-state physics. Molecular ferroelectrics, as an integral part of ferroelectrics, have developed rapidly in terms of both performance and functionality, with their inherent advantages such as easy fabrication, mechanical flexibility, low processing temperature, and structural tunability. However, studies on the NC in molecular ferroelectrics are limited. In this study, the focus is centered on the fabricated high-quality thin films of trimethylchloromethyl ammonium trichlorocadmium(II), and a pioneering investigation on their NC responses is conducted. The findings demonstrate that the NC exhibited by molecular ferroelectrics is comparable to that of conventional HfO2 -based ferroelectrics. This underscores the potential of molecular material systems for next-generation electronic devices.

Abstract
The construction of an intelligent remote management platform for respiratory therapy, utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and the electronic medical record system (EMR), has significant potential to improve the management of respiratory therapy in critically ill patients. This platform includes the development of a dedicated respiratory therapy EMR, the integration of data from multiple mechanical ventilators from different vendors and models, and the utilization of AI-assisted analysis to understand the pathophysiology of respiratory diseases and the complex physiological factors that influence specific interventions, thereby supporting diagnosis, treatment guidance, and prognosis prediction. In addtion, a network will be established to provide seamless connectivity between hospitals and wards. The resulting platform enables the collection of medical device data from multiple points within the hospital, real-time data analysis, and timely alarms, thereby facilitating remote data access, centralization of information, and standardization of data. As a result, the platform enables efficient intra-hospital and inter-hospital doctor-patient management. Despite the benefits offered by this platform, certain challenges need to be addressed, including ensuring data privacy and security, as well as managing the financial and human resources required for its implementation and maintenance. Furthermore, continuous optimization of the platform is crucial, and the clinical use of the platform requires appropriate professional training.

Abstract
Multifarious molecular ferroelectrics with multipolar axial characteristics have emerged in recent years, enriching the scenarios for energy harvesting, sensing, and information processing. The increased polar axes have enhanced the urgency of distinguishing different polarization states in material design, mechanism exploration, etc. However, conventional methods hardly meet the requirements of in situ, fast, microscale, contactless, and nondestructive features due to their inherent limitations. Herein, SHG polarimetry is introduced to probe the multioriented polarizations on a nanosized multiaxial molecular ferroelectric, i.e., TMCM-CdCl3 nanoplates, as an example. Combined with the analysis of the second-order susceptibility tensor, SHG polarimetry could serve as an effective method to detect the polarization orders and domain distributions of molecular ferroelectrics. Profiting from the full-optical feature, SHG polarimetry can even be performed on samples covered by transparent mediums, 2D materials, or thin metal electrodes. Our research might spark further fundamental studies and expand the application boundaries of next-generation ferroelectric materials.

Abstract
To address the issue of low efficiency in extracting plasmid DNA (pDNA) from Lactobacillus plantarum by breaking the cell wall, we proposed an effective pretreatment scheme. This study investigated the impacts of lysozyme concentrations and glucose, as well as centrifugal forces during lysozyme removal in the pretreatment system. The efficiency of pDNA extraction was assessed using non-staining method, acridine orange staining method (AO staining) and agarose gel electrophoresis (AGE). Furthermore, the glucose high lysozyme method was compared to the commercial kit method and the lysozyme removal method using L. plantarum PC518, 9L15, JS193 and Staphylococcus aureus USA300. The results indicated that the pDNA extraction concentrations from the four tested strains were increased by 8.9, 7.2, 8.5 and 3.6 times, respectively, compared to the commercial kit method. Furthermore, they increased by 1.9, 1.5, 1.8, and 1.4 times, respectively, compared to the lysozyme removal method. The maximum average concentration of pDNA extraction (from L. plantarum PC518) reached 590.8 ± 31.9 ng/ul. In conclusion, the incorporation of sugar, high concentration lysozyme and mild lysozyme removal proved to be effective enhancements in improving the efficiency of pDNA extraction from L. plantarum. Using the pretreatment scheme, the concentration of pDNA extraction was significantly increased, approaching levels comparable to pDNA extraction from Gram-negative bacteria.

Abstract
Lineage plasticity causes therapeutic resistance; however, it remains unclear how the fate conversion and phenotype switching of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are implicated in disease relapse. Here, we show that androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)-induced SPP1+ myofibroblastic CAFs (myCAFs) are critical stromal constituents that drive the development of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). Our results reveal that SPP1+ myCAFs arise from the inflammatory CAFs in hormone-sensitive PCa; therefore, they represent two functional states of an otherwise ontogenically identical cell type. Antiandrogen treatment unleashes TGF-β signaling, resulting in SOX4-SWI/SNF-dependent CAF phenotype switching. SPP1+ myCAFs in turn render PCa refractory to ADT via an SPP1-ERK paracrine mechanism. Importantly, these sub-myCAFs are associated with inferior therapeutic outcomes, providing the rationale for inhibiting polarization or paracrine mechanisms to circumvent castration resistance. Collectively, our results highlight that therapy-induced phenotypic switching of CAFs is coupled with disease progression and that targeting this stromal component may restrain CRPC.

Abstract
Effects of sweep frequency ultrasound (SFU) pretreatment of a new multifunctional ultrasonic equipment on hydrolysis characteristics of zeins and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity of zein hydrolysates were investigated. Degree of hydrolysis of zeins reached the highest of 25.93 % and 25.72 % at 40 kHz and 25/40 kHz, respectively. While 25/40 kHz increased solubility, surface hydrophobicity, particle size uniform of zeins and ACE inhibitory activities of the hydrolysates significantly. Endogenous fluorescence indicated that 25/40 kHz promoted unfolding of protein molecules and exposure of hydrophobic residues, thereby facilitating enzymatic hydrolysis. Circular dichroism spectrum and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer illustrated that 25/40 kHz unfolded protein molecules and decreased α-helical contents remarkably. Gel permeation chromatography showed that more small-molecule active peptides were obtained from hydrolysates at 25/40 kHz. In conclusion, SFU pretreatment at 25/40 kHz with the new equipment before proteolysis is an efficient method to improve ACE inhibitory activity of the hydrolysates.

Abstract
In this study, we isolated a lytic Pseudomonas aeruginosa phage (vB_PaeP_ASP23) from the sewage of a mink farm, characterized its complete genome and analyzed the function of its putative lysin and holin. Morphological characterization and genome annotation showed that phage ASP23 belonged to the Krylovirinae family genus Phikmvvirus, and it had a latent period of 10 min and a burst size of 140 pfu/infected cell. In minks challenged with P. aeruginosa, phage ASP23 significantly reduced bacterial counts in the liver, lung, and blood. The whole-genome sequencing showed that its genome was a 42,735-bp linear and double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), with a G + C content of 62.15%. Its genome contained 54 predicted open reading frames (ORFs), 25 of which had known functions. The lysin of phage ASP23 (LysASP), in combination with EDTA, showed high lytic activity against P. aeruginosa L64. The holin of phage ASP23 was synthesized by M13 phage display technology, to produce recombinant phages (HolASP). Though HolASP exhibited a narrow lytic spectrum, it was effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. However, these two bacteria were insensitive to LysASP. The findings highlight the potential of phage ASP23 to be used in the development of new antibacterial agents.

Abstract
The electrocaloric effect (ECE) is an efficient and environmentally friendly method for solid-state refrigeration driven by an electric field. However, disregarding the ECE performance, the mass of materials also limits the amount of energy transferred in the cooling process. While molecular ECE materials have been attracting intensive attention with their excellent ECE properties, most reported molecular compounds can only be utilized in the form of thin films or single crystals. Unlike inorganic ceramics, molecular thin films and single crystals are very difficult to prepare in a large amount, which greatly restrains the future application of those materials. In this work, we report an excellent molecular ECE material in the form of polycrystalline molecular ceramics. Such molecular ceramics are composed of plastic molecular ferroelectrics, and can fulfil the requirement of large mass, easy processing, excellent performance and low energy consumption. Our molecular ceramic of HQReO4 (HQ: protonated quinuclidine) demonstrates an isothermal entropy change of 5.8 J K-1 kg-1 and an adiabatic temperature change of 3.1 K. Notably, by a simple low-temperature pressing process without added adhesives (about 373 K), an HQReO4 molecular ceramic block can be obtained, and its ECE performance is observed to be comparable to that of single crystals, for the first time. This work proposes a new application form for molecular electrocaloric materials, which opens up new ideas for solid-state refrigeration.

Abstract
As an aquatic animal of great commercial relevance, Penaeus vannamei is currently the dominant species of cultured shrimp in China and many other countries worldwide. In recent years, the outbreak of glass post-larvae disease (GPD), which accounts for more than 90% of the mortality of shrimp seedlings in serious cases, in many regions of China has caused significant losses and threatened the sustainability of the aquaculture industry and the economy. It is extremely urgent to determine the infectious agent of GPD in P. vannamei. In this work, we performed metagenomic sequencing of glass post-larvae collected from diseased prawns in Tangshan Hebei, where GPD broke out recently. An evolutionary tree was constructed by MEGA 7 to understand the evolutionary history and relationship of the pathogen genome. A novel virus in the family Marnaviridae was first identified in P. vannamei suffering from GPD, and we tentatively named this virus Baishivirus (GenBank: ON550424). The identified pathogen was validated according to Koch's rule with a pathogenic challenge assay and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. There was only 8% query coverage with 64.96% identity in the Baishivirus genome when compared with its most closely related genome sequence of Wenzhou picorna-like virus 21 reported in 2016. Baishivirus genomic RNA is 9.895 kb in length and encodes three potential open reading frames (ORFs). The identification of Baishivirus in P. vannamei enriches the family Marnaviridae and potentially provides a new candidate to study and prevent GPD in the aquaculture industry.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Sarcopenia is recognized as a major public health concern because of its association with several adverse health events. Beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) supplementation reportedly delays the loss of muscle mass and function; however, the effect of HMB on sarcopenia remains inconclusive. We aimed to evaluate the impact of HMB intervention on muscle strength, physical performance, body compositions, and inflammatory factors in older adults with sarcopenia. DESIGN Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS This study included subjects aged ≥60 years with sarcopenia which were assigned to the HMB group (HMBG, n=18) and the placebo group (PG, n=16). INTERVENTION The HMBG and PG were supplied with HMB and placebo products twice daily for 12 weeks, and both received resistance exercise training twice a week in 12 weeks. MEASUREMENTS Hand grip strength was selected as the primary outcome; gait speed, five-time chair stand test, body composition and inflammatory indicators were selected as the secondary outcomes. The differences in changes from baseline between the two groups were analyzed using the analysis of covariance(ANCOVA). RESULTS After the 12-week intervention, the HMBG demonstrated significantly greater improvements in handgrip strength (4.61(95%CI:2.93,6.28) kg, P<0.001), gait speed (0.11(95%CI:0.02,0.20)m/s, P=0.014), five-time chair stand test (-3.65 (95%CI:-5.72, -1.58)s, P=0.001), muscle quality (2.47(95%CI:1.15,3.80),kg.kg-1 P=0.001) and tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (-15.23(95%CI:-29.80,-0.66)pmol/mL, P=0.041) compared with the PG; no significant differences in skeletal muscle mass, skeletal muscle index, and other body composition parameters were found between the two groups. CONCLUSION In older adults with sarcopenia, HMB significantly enhance the effect of resistance exercise training on muscle strength, physical performance, muscle quality, and reduced inflammatory factors. Abstract
A lytic bacteriophage vB_EcoM_DE7 (hereafter designated DE7) that could infect donkey-derived Escherichia coli was isolated. The bacteriophage was examined by transmission electron microscopy, and the result showed that DE7 belonged to the family Myoviridae. The microbiological characterization revealed that DE7 was stable over a broad range of pHs (3 ∼10) at 40-50 °C. The latent period was 10 min, and the burst size was 43 PFUs/infected cell. The whole-genome sequencing showed that DE7 was a dsDNA virus and had a genome of 86,130 bp. The genome contained 124 predicted open reading frames (ORFs), 35 of which had known functions, including DNA replication and modification, transcriptional regulation, structural and packaging proteins, and host cell lysis. Twenty tRNA genes were identified, but no genes associated with bacterial pathogenicity, lysogeny and drug resistance were identified. BLASTN analysis revealed that phage DE7 had a high sequence identity (96%) with Salmonella phage vB_SPuM_SP116, but it could not lyse any Salmonella strain tested in this study. DE7 was classified as a Felix O1-like virus based on its general characterization and genomic information. Since phage DE7 exhibited high efficacy in lysing E. coli and lacked genes associated with bacterial virulence, antimicrobial resistance and lysogeny, it could be potentially used to control foal diarrhoea caused by E. coli.

Abstract
Bovine mycoplasmosis is an important infectious disease of cattle caused by Mycoplasma bovis (M. bovis) which poses a serious threat to the breeding industry. Adhesin is involved in the initial process of M. bovis colonization, which is closely related to the infection, cell invasion, immune escape and virulence of this pathogenic microorganism. For the reason that M. bovis lacks a cell wall, its adhesin is predominantly located on the surface of the cell membrane. The adhesins of M. bovis are usually identified by adhesion and adhesion inhibition analysis, and more than 10 adhesins have been identified so far. These adhesins primarily bind to plasminogen, fibronectin, heparin and amyloid precursor-like protein-2 of host cells. This review aims to concisely summarize the current knowledge regarding the adhesins of M. bovis and their target proteins of the host cell. Additionally, the biological characteristics of the adhesin will be briefly analyzed.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to develop a novel triangular fuzzy method for multi-attribute decision-making to eliminate the influence of indicator weights on scheme selection and account for the regret psychology of decision-makers. Therefore, considering the consequences of regret aversion and subjective weighting, we propose a multi-attribute decision-making method with triangular fuzzy number based on regret theory and catastrophe progression. First, to eliminate the influence of various dimensions on the decision-making results, the decision matrix is described by a triangular fuzzy number, and the regret value matrix and rejoicing value matrix are independently constructed by applying regret theory. Second, the importance ranking of attributes is improved to eliminate the influence of subjective weighting by employing the maximizing deviation method; and the comprehensive catastrophe progression attribute is calculated to rank the alternatives. Finally, an instance of investment project selection is provided to prove the availability and superiority. In conclusion, the proposed method not only considers decision-makers' bounded rationality for decision-making, but it also expands the application of catastrophe progression methods under the condition of a triangular fuzzy environment.

Abstract
Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar abortus equi (S. Abortus equi) is the most common cause of abortion in mares. It has recently been found to cause abortion in donkeys more frequently in China. A novel virulent bacteriophage vB_SabS_Sds2 (hereafter designated as Sds2) was isolated from the feces of donkeys using a S. Abortus equi strain as a host. Phage Sds2 had an isometric polyhedral head and an uncontracted long tail, belonging to the Tequintavirus, Markadamsvirinae, Demerecviridae, Caudovirales. The genome of phage Sds2 was 114,770 bp, with a GC content of 40.26%. The genome contained 160 open reading frames (ORFs), and no ORFs were associated with pathogenicity, drug resistance, or lysogenization by sequence analysis. Both genome annotation and phylogenetic analysis indicated that phage Sds2 was highly similar to T5-like bacteriophages. Phage Sds2 could lyse 100% (30/30) of S. Abortus equi strains, 25.3% (24/95) of other serotypes of Salmonella strains, and 27.6% (8/29) of Escherichia coli strains using the double-layer agar plate method. The in vitro test showed that phage Sds2 had high bactericidal activity against S. Abortus equi at a wide range of MOIs. The in vivo test indicated that phage Sds2 had an inhibitory effect on abortion in mice challenged with S. Abortus equi. In general, phage Sds2 is a novel lytic phage with a wide host range and has the potential to prevent abortion caused by S. Abortus equi.

Abstract
Ferroelectric domains and domain walls are unique characteristics of ferroelectric materials. Among them, charged domain walls (CDWs) are a special kind of peculiar microstructure that highly improve conductivity, piezoelectricity, and photovoltaic efficiency. Thus, CDWs are believed to be the key to ferroelectrics' future application in fields of energy, sensing, information storage, and so forth. Studies on CDWs are one of the most attractive directions in conventional inorganic ferroelectric ceramics. However, in newly emerged molecular ferroelectrics, which have advantages such as lightweight, easy preparation, simple film fabrication, mechanical flexibility, and biocompatibility, CDWs are rarely observed due to the lack of free charges. In inorganic ferroelectrics, doping is a traditional method to induce free charges, but for molecular ferroelectrics fabricated by solution processes, doping usually causes phase separation or phase transition, which destabilizes or removes ferroelectricity. To realize stable CDWs in molecular systems, we designed and synthesized an n-type molecular ferroelectric, 1-adamantanammonium hydroiodate. In this compound, negative charges are induced by defects in the I- vacancy, and CDWs can be achieved. Nanometer-scale CDWs that are stable at temperatures as high as 373 K can be "written" precisely by an electrically biased metal tip. More importantly, this is the first time that the charge diffusion of CDWs at variable temperatures has been investigated in molecular ferroelectrics. This work provides a new design strategy for n-type molecular ferroelectrics and may shed light on their future applications in flexible electronics, microsensors, and so forth.

Abstract
We have developed an improved cyanide-free strategy for the synthesis of glycosyl carboxylic acids, employing stereoselective C-vinyl glycosylation and oxidative cleavage of C-vinyl glycosides as key steps. Compared to our previous work, the amount of NaIO4 required for the oxidative cleavage step is reduced significantly from 18 equivalents to 4.5 equivalents. This modification not only is advantageous in terms of operation and costs but also avoids the over-oxidation problem, thus greatly expanding the substrate scope, which is evidenced by the fact that 10 out of 21 glycosyl carboxylic acids synthesized are undocumented. With differently O5-protected furanosyl acids in hand, we demonstrate that an electron-rich protecting group is beneficial for the decarboxylative arylation of furanosyl carboxylic acids. This represents a rare example of protecting groups affecting the reaction efficiency in radical C-glycosylation. As C-vinyl glycosides can be prepared stereoselectively and the oxidative step is stereoretentive, the approach provides an effective means to access 1,2-trans or 1,2-cis glycosyl acids, which would be a valuable alternative to the cyanide-based synthesis of glycosyl carboxylic acids.

Abstract
BackgroundThe European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR)1 recently provided updated guidelines regarding the initiation and modification of disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) therapy in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Therefore, real-world evidence studies are warranted to provide insights into first-line DMARD utilization and durability of response in the second-line setting.ObjectivesTo analyze RA treatment patterns in real-world data and compare durability of response between second-line DMARDs + anti-TNF (TNFi) therapies vs. TNFi monotherapy.MethodsElectronic health records (EHRs) from a large health system in the Northeast US were used to identify RA patients. Lines of therapy were defined based on confirmed prescriptions for DMARDs and TNFi therapies. Time to next treatment (TTNT) was the primary outcome to estimate durability of response. Time-to-event analyses were performed using Kaplan-Meier and log-rank test methods. In addition, a Cox Proportional-Hazards (CoxPH) model was used to evaluate covariates as independent predictors of disease progression.ResultsOur study cohort consisted of 8,040 patients who had at least one line of therapy for RA. Conventional synthetic DMARDs (csDMARDs) were the predominant first line of therapy in this dataset (71.3%), followed by TNFi alone (11.1%) or TNFi combined with csDMARD (9.1%) (Figure 1).For patients who had csDMARD as their first line of therapy, 22.93% progressed to second line treatment. Among them 36.2% patients were TNFi with or without in combination with csDMARDs. In the second-line, TNFi + csDMARDs were associated with a longer TTNT (median time: 13.1 months vs 6.1 months, P < 0.005) compared to TNFi monotherapy. The multiple variable CoxPH model (adjusted for age, gender, and race) demonstrated that second-line TNFi + csDMARDs had a lower hazard rate when compared to TNFi monotherapy (HR = 0.74, 95% CI: 0.36 - 1.12, p < 0.005).ConclusionWe demonstrated the first comprehensive treatment sequencing patterns in RA from a real-world setting. As a second-line therapy for patients with inadequate response to csDMARDS, the TNFi + csDMARDs combination may improve duration of response when compared to TNFi monotherapy. Abstract
In order to improve the reliability of aero-engine, reduce maintenance cost, and promote aircraft safety, lots of attention is paid to health monitoring of aero-engine. The aero-engine gas components involve flow and efficiency parameters, which are key health parameters to obtain the aero-engine' performance degradation. A challenge has to be faced is that these health parameters needed to know are more than the available sensors, which cannot be estimated by the ordinary estimator like Kalman Filter (KF) and Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). In this paper, a system approach is raised to use model tuning parameter to solve the estimation problem mentioned before. To implement it, an underdetermined EKF estimator is constructed from previous achievement and applied to an aero-engine for health state estimation, to address the problem that there are fewer sensor data available with more unknown health parameters. And convergence proof of underdetermined EKF is also provided to make sure that the experimental result is deterministic rather than occasional, deducing that the convergence of this estimator can be verified with some mild constraints. It is found in this study that the covariance matrices Qk and Rk can meet the conditions of linear matrix inequality (LMI) by designing and setting specific ranges, leading to rapid convergence of the estimator. In addition, semi-physical experiments are shown to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

Abstract
The development of new antimicrobial agents is critically needed due to the alarming increase in antibiotic resistance in bacterial pathogens. Phages have been widely considered as effective alternatives to antibiotics. A novel phage vB_StaM_SA1 (hereinafter as SA1) that can infect multiple Staphylococcus strains was isolated from untreated sewage of a pig farm, which belonged to Myoviridae family. At MOI of 0.1, the latent period of phage SA1 was 55 min, and the final titer reached about 109 PFU/mL. The genome of phage SA1 was 260,727 bp, indicating that it can be classified as a jumbo phage. The genome of SA1 had 258 ORFs and a serine tRNA, while only 53 ORFs were annotated with functions. Phage SA1 contained a group of core genes that was characterized by multiple RNA polymerase subunits and also found in phiKZ-related jumbo phages. The phylogenetic tree showed that phage SA1 was a phiKZ-related phage and was closer to jumbo phages compared with Staphylococcus phages with small genome. Three proteins (lys4, lys210, and lys211) were predicted to be associated with lysins, and two proteins with lytic function were verified by recombinant expression and bacterial survival test. Both lys210 and lys211 possessed efficient bactericidal ability, and lys210 could lyse all test strains. The results show that phage SA1 and lys210/lys211 could be potentially used as antibiotic agents to treat Staphylococcus infection.

Abstract
It has been reported that circHIPK3 can be downregulated by high glucose, suggesting its potential involvement in diabetes and diabetic complications. This study aimed to explore the role of circHIPK3 in diabetic cardiomyopathy (DC). PTEN is a kind of tumor suppressor gene, which is very commonly lost in human cancer. We detected the expression of circHIPK3 and PTEN in plasma samples from DC patients, diabetic patients without complications diabetes mellitus (DM) and health controls by RT-qPCR and ELISA. In vitro cell experiment, AC16 cells (cardiomyocytes) were treated with high glucose, followed by expression analysis of circHIPK3 and PTEN mRNA by RT-qPCR. CircHIPK3 or PTEN expression vector were used to overexpress circHIPK3 and PTEN in AC16 cells to explore the relationship between them. The role of circHIPK3 and PTEN in regulating the apoptosis of AC16 cells was analyzed by cell apoptosis assay. The result showed that CircHIPK3 was downregulated in diabetes and further downregulated in DC. In AC16 cells, high glucose treatment decreased the expression levels of circHIPK3. Across DC samples, the expression of circHIPK3 was inversely correlated with PTEN. In AC16 cells, overexpression of circHIPK3 decreased the expression levels of PTEN. CircHIPK3 may suppress AC16 cell apoptosis induced by high glucose and inhibited the role of PTEN in cell apoptosis. Therefore, circHIPK3 may downregulate PTEN to protect cardiomyocytes from high glucose-induced cell apoptosis.

Abstract
UNLABELLED In the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcome Study (DPPOS), a cohort at high risk of diabetes, randomization to intensive lifestyle intervention or metformin, both associated with weight loss, did not have long-term negative effects on BMD compared with the placebo group. Potential positive effects of metformin on bone warrant further investigation. INTRODUCTION Randomization to lifestyle intervention (ILS) or metformin in the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) resulted in weight loss and reduced progression to diabetes. Weight loss is associated with reduced bone mineral density (BMD), but the long-term effects of these interventions on BMD are unknown. In the DPP Outcome Study (DPPOS), we determined if randomization to ILS or metformin, compared with placebo, was associated with differences in BMD approximately 16 years later. METHODS Of 3234 DPP participants, 2779 continued in DPPOS and were offered ILS in group format. Those randomized to metformin were offered unmasked metformin. At DPPOS year 12, 1367 participants had dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scans. BMD in metformin and ILS groups was compared to placebo using sex-specific linear regression models, adjusted for age, race/ethnicity, and weight and weight-bearing activity at DPP baseline. RESULTS At DPPOS year 12, mean age was 66.5 (±9.5) years. Femoral neck BMD was similar in the ILS and placebo groups in men (difference = -0.021 g/cm2, 95%CI (-0.063, 0.021)) and in women (+0.014 g/cm2, 95%CI (-0.014, 0.042)). Femoral neck BMD was higher in the metformin compared to placebo group although not statistically different in men (+0.017 g/cm2, 95% CI (-0.023, 0.058)) and in women (+0.019 g/cm2, 95% CI (-0.009, 0.047)). Prevalence of osteoporosis was low and similar across treatment groups in men (0.9%; p=0.745) and women (2.4%; p=0.466). CONCLUSION In a cohort at high risk of diabetes, lifestyle intervention or metformin did not appear to have long-term negative effects on BMD. Potential positive effects of metformin on bone warrant further research.

Abstract
Elderly diabetic patients in China accounts for one fourth of the total number of elderly diabetic patients in the world, ranking the first worldwide. In 2021, National Center of Gerontology, Chinese Society of Geriatrics and Diabetes Professional Committee of Chinese Aging Well Association issued China's first guideline on elderly diabetic patients--Guideline for the management of diabetes mellitus in the elderly in China (2021 edition). The present article interprets parts of the important recommendations of the guideline, aiming to facilitate its implementation in clinical practice effectively and improve the clinical prognosis of elderly diabetic patients in our country.

Abstract
Modulation instability, breather formation, and the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam-Tsingou recurrence (FPUT) phenomena are studied in this article. Physically, such nonlinear systems arise when the medium is slightly anisotropic, e.g., optical fibers with weak birefringence where the slowly varying pulse envelopes are governed by these coherently coupled Schrödinger equations. The Darboux transformation is used to calculate a class of breathers where the carrier envelope depends on the transverse coordinate of the Schrödinger equations. A "cascading mechanism" is utilized to elucidate the initial stages of FPUT. More precisely, higher order nonlinear terms that are exponentially small initially can grow rapidly. A breather is formed when the linear mode and higher order ones attain roughly the same magnitude. The conditions for generating various breathers and connections with modulation instability are elucidated. The growth phase then subsides and the cycle is repeated, leading to FPUT. Unequal initial conditions for the two waveguides produce symmetry breaking, with "eye-shaped" breathers in one waveguide and "four-petal" modes in the other. An analytical formula for the time or distance of breather formation for a two-waveguide system is proposed, based on the disturbance amplitude and instability growth rate. Excellent agreement with numerical simulations is achieved. Furthermore, the roles of modulation instability for FPUT are elucidated with illustrative case studies. In particular, depending on whether the second harmonic falls within the unstable band, FPUT patterns with one single or two distinct wavelength(s) are observed. For applications to temporal optical waveguides, the present formulation can predict the distance along a weakly birefringent fiber needed to observe FPUT.

Abstract
Vibrio alginolyticus is one of the most important of pathogens that can infect humans and a variety of aquatic animals, and it can cause food poisoning and septicemia in humans. Widely used antibiotics are gradually losing their usefulness, and phages are gaining more attention as new antibacterial strategies. To have more potential strategies for controlling pathogenic bacteria, we isolated a novel V. alginolyticus phage BUCT549 from seafood market sewage. It was classified as a new member of the family Siphoviridae by transmission electron microscopy and a phylogenetic tree. We propose creating a new genus for BUCT549 based on the intergenomic similarities (maximum is 56%) obtained from VIRIDIC calculations. Phage BUCT549 could be used for phage therapy due to its stability in a wide pH (3.0–11.0) range and high-temperature (up to 60°C) environment. It had a latent period of 30–40 min and a burst size of 141 PFU/infected bacterium. In the phylogenetic tree based on a terminase large subunit, BUCT549 was closely related to eight Vibrio phages with different species of host. Meanwhile, our experiments proved that BUCT549 has the ability to infect a strain of Vibrio parahaemolyticus. A coevolution experiment determined that three strains of tolerant V. alginolyticus evaded phage infestation by mutating the MSHA-related membrane protein expression genes, which caused the loss of flagellum. This research on novel phage identification and the mechanism of infestation will help phages to become an integral part of the strategy for biological control agents.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of adult abdominal fat distribution and analyze its influencing factors by energy spectrum CT scan. Methods: The body height, weight, waist circumference, and hip circumference of 105 adults were measured, and the characteristics of abdominal fat distribution were evaluated by energy spectrum CT scan. Results: Compared with non-obese individuals, the contents of abdominal subcutaneous fat, abdominal cavity and liver ectopic fat were higher in obese patients (P<0.05), and the intramuscular fat (IMAT) content did not increase with the increase of BMI. In middle-aged group, the waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) abdominal cavity area and IMAT content were higher than those in the youth group, and the muscle content of the middle-aged group was lower than that of the youth group, the difference between the two groups was significant (P<0.05); the male group had higher abdominal cavity area and muscle content than the female group, while the female group had higher the subcutaneous fat area, abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness and erector spinae fat content than the male group, the differences were significant (P<0.05). Conclusions: The characteristics of abdominal fat distribution of subjects with different BMI, age and gender were different. Therefore, we should pay attention to the individual assessment of ectopic fat distribution in obese patients. Energy spectrum CT can be used as an important approach for the assessment of ectopic fat to provide evidence for developing individualized weight loss programs.

Abstract
Cholesterol metabolism is tightly associated with colorectal cancer (CRC). Nevertheless, the clinical benefit of statins, the inhibitor of cholesterol biogenesis mevalonate (MVA) pathway, is inconclusive, possibly because of a lack of patient stratification criteria. Here, we describe that YAP-mediated zinc finger MYND-type containing 8 (ZMYND8) expression sensitizes intestinal tumors to the inhibition of the MVA pathway. We show that the oncogenic activity of YAP relies largely on ZMYND8 to enhance intracellular de novo cholesterol biogenesis. Disruption of the ZMYND8-dependent MVA pathway greatly restricts the self-renewal capacity of Lgr5+ intestinal stem cells (ISCs) and intestinal tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, ZMYND8 and SREBP2 drive the enhancer-promoter interaction to facilitate the recruitment of Mediator complex, thus upregulating MVA pathway genes. Together, our results establish that the epigenetic reader ZMYND8 endows YAP-high intestinal cancer with metabolic vulnerability.

Abstract
The intense research activities on the hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) have led to the greatly improved light absorbers for solar cells with high power conversion efficiency (PCE). However, it is still challenging to find an alternative lead-free perovskite to replace the organohalide lead perovskites to achieve high PCE. This is because both previous experimental and theoretical investigations have shown that the Pb2+ cations play a dominating role in contributing the desirable frontier electronic bands of the HOIPs for light absorbing. Recent advances in the chemical synthesis of three-dimensional (3D) metal-free perovskites, by replacing Pb2+ with NH4 +, have markedly enriched the family of multifunctionalized perovskites (Ye et al., Science2018, 361, 151-155). These metal-free perovskites possess the chemical formula of A(NH4)X3, where A is divalent organic cations and X denotes halogen atoms. Without involving transition-metal cations, the metal-free A(NH4)X3 perovskites can entail notably different frontier electronic band features from those of the organohalide lead perovskites. Indeed, the valence and conduction bands of A(NH4)X3 perovskites are mainly attributed by the halogen atoms and the divalent A2+ organic cations, respectively. Importantly, a linear relationship between the bandgaps of A(NH4)X3 perovskites and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energies of the A2+ cations is identified, suggesting that bandgaps can be tailored via molecular design, especially through a chemical modification of the A2+ cations. Our comprehensive computational study and molecular design predict a metal-free perovskite, namely, 6-ammonio-1-methyl-5-nitropyrimidin-1-ium-(NH4)I3, with a desirable bandgap of ∼1.74 eV and good optical absorption property, both being important requirements for photovoltaic applications. Moreover, the application of strain can further fine-tune the bandgap of this metal-free perovskite. Our proposed design principle not only offers chemical insights into the structure-property relationship of the multifunctional metal-free perovskites but also can facilitate the discovery of highly efficient alternative, lead-free perovskites for potential photovoltaic or optoelectronic applications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Ferroptosis is a recently identified form of controlled cell death generally associated with the accumulation of lipid-associated reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying ferroptosis have not been established. MATERIALS AND METHODS Microarray expression data for three human gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) and matched non-tumour specimens were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) repository. Candidate genes were filtered using bioinformatic analysis. After cell transfection, candidate gene impacts on cell proliferation, migration, invasion and ferroptosis (ferrous iron (Fe2+) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels) were assessed. RESULTS We screened 626 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) including 465 that were downregulated and 161 that were upregulated in the three tissue pairs. These DEGs were used to construct a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. Functional enrichment analysis revealed the top three modules in the network and four hub genes. Transcription factor AP-2 alpha (TFAP2A) was screened and showed overexpression in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) digestive system tumour data and a relationship with clinical survival. In vitro, GBC exhibited upregulated expression of TFAP2A, whose inhibition reduced GBC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Fe2+ and MDA levels were elevated. Moreover, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis revealed TFAP2A enrichment in oxidative stress. Subsequent experiments demonstrated that TFAP2A silencing attenuated the expression of key genes associated with oxidative stress such as heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1), nuclear factor erythroid 2 like 2 (Nrf2), ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1) and NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 1 (NQO1). CONCLUSIONS Bioinformatic and experimental analyses reveal that TFAP2A plays a vital role in ferroptosis and hence is a potential therapeutic target for GBC treatment.

Abstract
This paper proposes a new perspective of analyzing non-linear acoustic characteristics of the snore sounds. According to the ERB (Equivalent Rectangular Bandwidth) scale used in psychoacoustics, the ERB correlation dimension (ECD) of the snore sound was computed to feature different severity levels of sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (SAHS). For the training group of 93 subjects, snore episodes were manually segmented and the ECD parameters of the snores were extracted, which established the gaussian mixture models (GMM). The nocturnal snore sound of the testing group of another 120 subjects was tested to detect SAHS snores, thus estimating the apnea hypopnea index (AHI), which is called AHIECD. Compared to the AHIPSG value of the gold standard polysomnography (PSG) diagnosis, the estimated AHIECD achieved an accuracy of 87.5% in diagnosis the SAHS severity levels. The results suggest that the ECD vectors can be effective parameters for screening SAHS.

Abstract
3D ABX3 organic-inorganic halide perovskite (OIHP) semiconductors like [CH3 NH3 ]PbI3 have received great attention because of their various properties for wide applications. However, although a number of low-dimensional lead-based OIHP ferroelectric semiconductors have been documented, obtaining 3D ABX3 OIHP ferroelectric semiconductors is challenging. Herein, an A-site cation [CH3 PH3 ]+ (methylphosphonium, MP) is employed to successfully obtain a lead-free 3D ABX3 OIHP ferroelectric semiconductor MPSnBr3 , which shows clear above-room-temperature ferroelectricity and a direct bandgap of 2.62 eV. It is emphasized that MPSnBr3 is a multiaxial molecular ferroelectric with the number of ferroelectric polar axes being as many as 12, which is far more than those of the other OIHP ferroelectric semiconductors and even the classical inorganic perovskite ferroelectric semiconductors BiFeO3 (4 polar axes) and BaTiO3 (3 polar axes). MPSnBr3 is the first MP-based 3D ABX3 OIHP ferroelectric semiconductor. This finding throws light on the exploration of other excellent 3D ABX3 OIHP ferroelectric semiconductors with great application prospects.

Abstract
We have developed a cyanide-free strategy for the synthesis of glycosyl carboxylic acids, which can provide 1,2-trans or 1,2-cis glycosyl carboxylic acids and is compatible with common protecting groups. The synthetic utility was demonstrated by the synthesis of 12 unreported glycosyl acids and the total synthesis of scleropentaside A.

Abstract
The level of SETD2-mediated H3K36me3 is inversely correlated with that of EZH2-catalyzed H3K27me3. Nevertheless, it remains unclear whether these two enzymatic activities are molecularly intertwined. Here, we report that SETD2 delays prostate cancer (PCa) metastasis via its substrate EZH2. We show that SETD2 methylates EZH2 which promotes EZH2 degradation. SETD2 deficiency induces a Polycomb-repressive chromatin state that enables cells to acquire metastatic traits. Conversely, mice harboring nonmethylated EZH2 mutant or SETD2 mutant defective in binding to EZH2 develop metastatic PCa. Furthermore, we identify that metformin-stimulated AMPK signaling converges at FOXO3 to stimulate SETD2 expression. Together, our results demonstrate that the SETD2-EZH2 axis integrates metabolic and epigenetic signaling to restrict PCa metastasis.
