Abstract
In this study, a case of Lynch syndrome (LS) family line with a novel mutation site in the MLH1 c.463dupC gene was reported and the clinical and pathogenic genetic features of this family were analyzed. A 40-year-old female patient with colon cancer diagnosed at the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University on October 2, 2020 was retrospectively included. The clinical data of the family were collected and the family lineage was drawn. The family tumor history met the Amsterdam Criteria Ⅱ and the diagnostic criteria of LS in Chinese, which was a typical LS family lineage. A germline code-shift missense mutation c.463dupC in the MLH1 gene located in exon 6, a possible pathogenic variant, was detected by second-generation sequencing (NGS) in the patient. Subsequently, Sanger sequencing was performed on a total of 20 direct lineage members of the family of the MLH1 gene, 7 cases were found to harbor the mutation and included in the LS high-risk control. Follow-up to October 2023 showed that the patient had endometrial and cervical polyps, one case had colorectal cancer, and two cases had intestinal polyps, all were treated with early intervention and therapy; two cases did not show any clinical symptoms. This study is the first to report a new mutation site for the potentially pathogenic MLH1 c.463dupC, providing a rationale for the pathogenicity of the mutation and standardized health management for familial carriers.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the impact of orthodontic treatment on pulp volume in adolescents and adults. Methods: Cone-beam CT data of 62 patients undergoing orthodontic treatment at the Department of Orthodontics, Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, from January 2019 to March 2022 were collected. Patients were divided into two age groups (31 patients in each group): adolescent group (aged 13-17, 17 males and 14 females) and adult group (aged 21-25, 12 males and 19 females). Pre-and post-treatment reconstructions of the pulp and dental tissues of upper first molars (UM1) and lower central incisors (L1) were performed. Measurements included pulp volume for UM1 (UM1 P) and L1 (L1 P), pulp chamber volume (UM1 PC) and root canal volume (UM1 RC) for UM1, root length for L1 (L1 RL), and mesiobuccal root length for UM1 (UM1 RL), as well as chamber heights at specific landmarks [the lengths from the central fossa fusion site to the roof of the pulp chamber (H1), the floor of the pulp chamber (H2), the nearest point of root divergence as well as crown-root bifurcation (H3), the farthest point of root divergence (H4), and the pulp chamber height (H5)] in UM1. Changes in these indices were calculated and analyzed using paired and independent sample t-tests for within-group and between-group differences, respectively. Pearson correlation was used to assess potential associations among H5, root length, and pulp volume changes. Results: Before and after orthodontic treatment, no significant difference was observed in the adult group for L1 P (t=-0.03, P=0.975), while significant differences were noted for UM1 P, UM1 PC, and UM1 RC (t=9.98, P<0.001; t=9.04, P<0.001; t=6.69, P<0.001). In the adolescent group, significant differences were found for both L1 P and UM1 P (t=2.25, P=0.029; t=6.30, P<0.001). After orthodontic treatment, the absolute value changes of UM1 P, UM1 PC, and L1 P in the adolescent group were (19.75±9.58), (15.07±7.65) and (1.89±6.29) mm3, respectively, and in the adult group were (13.33±9.41), (9.16±7.05) and (0.02±4.66) mm3, respectively (t=3.77, P<0.001; t=4.48, P<0.001; t=2.34, P=0.048). There was no significant absolute difference in the amount of UM1 RC between the two groups after orthodontic treatment (t=0.86, P=0.391). Before and after orthodontic treatment, the absolute value changes of L1 RL, H1 and H5 in the adolescent group were (0.54±0.41), (0.38±0.27) and (0.71±0.33) mm, respectively, and the absolute value changes in the adult group were (0.78±0.62), (0.26±0.20) and (0.57±0.28) mm, respectively (t=-2.43, P=0.017; t=2.96, P=0.004; t=2.57, P=0.011). Whereas no significant differences were observed for UM1 RL, H2, H3, and H4 (t=-0.85, P=0.400; t=0.43, P=0.669; t=-0.50, P=0.619; t=1.46, P=0.148). Additionally, significant correlations were found between changes in H5 and UM1 RL with UM1 P (r=0.35, P<0.001; r=0.19, P=0.030), but not between Changes in L1 RL and L1 P (r=0.11, P>0.05). Conclusions: The effect of orthodontic treatment on pulp volume in adolescents and adults were different.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of enhanced CT texture feature analysis in predicting pseudoprogression in patients with metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (mccRCC) undergoing programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor therapy. Methods: A cross-sectional study. Data from 32 patients with mccRCC were retrospectively collected who received monotherapy with PD-1 inhibitors after standard treatment failure at Henan Cancer Hospital, from June 2015 to January 2021. Clinical information and enhanced CT images were analyzed to assess target lesion response. The lesions were divided into pseudoprogression and non-pseudoprogression groups. Manual segmentation of target lesions was performed using ITK-Snap software on baseline enhanced CT, and texture analysis was conducted using A.K. software to extract feature parameters. Differences in texture features between the pseudoprogression and non-pseudoprogression groups were analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression. A predictive model for pseudoprogression was constructed, and its performance was evaluated using ROC curve analysis. Results: A total of 32 patients with 89 lesions were included in the study. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in seven texture features between the pseudoprogression and non-pseudoprogression groups. These features included"original_ngtdm_Strength"(0.49 vs. -0.61,P=0.006), "wavelet-HLH_glszm_ZonePercentage"(0.67 vs. -0.22,P=0.024),"wavelet-LHL_ngtdm_Strength"(1.20 vs. -0.51,P=0.002), "wavelet-HLL_gldm_LargeDependenceEmphasis"(-0.84 vs. 0.19,P=0.002), "wavelet-HLH_glcm_Id" (-0.30 vs. 0.43,P=0.037),"wavelet- HLH_glrlm_RunPercentage"(0.45 vs. -0.01,P=0.032),"wavelet-LHH_firstorder_Skewness"(0.25 vs. -0.27, P=0.011). Based on these features, a pseudoprogression prediction model was developed with a P-value of 0.000 2 and an odds ratio of 0.045 (95%CI 0.009-0.227). The model exhibited a high predictive performance with an AUC of 0.907 (95%CI 0.817-0.997) according to ROC curve analysis. Conclusions: Enhanced CT texture feature analysis shows promise in predicting lesion pseudoprogression in patients with metastatic ccRCC undergoing PD-1 inhibitor therapy. The developed predictive model based on texture features demonstrates good performance and may assist in evaluating treatment response in these patients.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the application of vaseline gauze to occlude the bronchial fistulas and its clinical effectiveness and safety in this retrospective study. Methods: This study retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of 14 patients with bronchial fistulas at Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Shanghai Dongfang Hospital affiliated to Tongji University between June 2019 and June 2022. Seven of the 14 patients were female, and the age ranged from 16 to 74 years. We retrieved all the clinical records of all the enrolled patients during the 6 to 12 months follow-up after the operation, including the information for removal of chest drainage pipe, the failure of endobronchial blockage using vaseline gauze, as well as the complications (migration of the vaseline gauze, obstructive pneumonia, pulmonary atelectasis, et. al.) after the operation. Results: Of the 14 patients, 3 patients had fistula located in main or lobar bronchi; 10 patients had fistula located in distal airways; and 1 patient had fistula located both in main bronchi and distal airways. Ten patients were complicated with pneumonia or pleural cavity infections; Five were complicated with pneumothorax or hydropneumothorax. All of the 14 patients achieved successful airway occlusion after the placement of vaseline gauze in the responsible bronchial airways or stumps for the fistulas. Eleven of the 14 patients successfully removed the drainage tube for the residual cavity, 3 of the 14 patients successfully removed the vaseline gauze for the fistula which was healing during the follow up of 6-12 months. No one of the patients had severe complications or treatment failure. Conclusion: Bronchial placement of vaseline gauze might be a feasible and effective technique for treatment of bronchial fistulas.

Abstract
Ventilating solid waste landfills with an oxygen supply can effectively accelerate the degradation of waste, achieve rapid stabilization, and realize the sustainable utilization of landfills. Aiming to understand and verify the aerobic degradation process in landfills, this paper proposed a biochemical-thermal-hydro-mechanical coupling model. The model considers aerobic biochemical reactions, dissolved solute migration, heat transport, two-phase flow, and skeleton deformation. The model was verified by comparison with an in-situ experiment at Jinkou landfill. The results showed the model could accurately represent the observed degradation phenomena during the experiment. The modelling results indicated that the rate of temperature increase and peak temperature of the upper layer, which were lower than those of the middle layer, were affected by heat exchange at the landfill surface. The lowest temperatures occurred near the bottom because of high water content and low oxygen concentrations. The high temperature zone migrated out from the injection well during degradation, reflecting the degradation of degradable organic matter associated with oxygen diffusion rates and aerobic degradation reactions. The initial accumulated settlement value was fast, but slowed and finally stabilized. The surface subsidence also developed from the center around the injection well to the surrounding area, and 70% of the total subsidence occurred within 150 days. This newly developed model provides a theoretical framework for analyzing the multi-field coupling of aerobic degradation of landfilled municipal solid waste (MSW).

Patients with CGCT were involede, from March 2015 to November 2020, at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. A total of 6 children, aged 3-16 days, 1 male and 5 female, 5 maxillary and 1 mandibular, with maximum tumor diameter of 6-70 mm, were included. The lesions of CGCT were single and connected to the alveolar ridge by a pedicle. The surface of the tumor was covered with a vascular network, and two cases had ulcers on the surface of the tumor. All 6 cases had the tumor removed surgically and there was no recurrence or metastasis in the follow-up visit. Although CGCT is rare, it is a benign tumor and generally does not recur or metastasize after surgery, and has a good prognosis. The prenatal imaging, clinical manifestations after delivery, pathological characteristics and immunohistochemical analyses may provide reference for early diagnosis and treatment of CGCT.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the preliminary clinical efficacy and safety of calerizumab combined with apatinib in the treatment of patients with middle-advanced liver cancer whose disease has progressed after drug-eluting beads-transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (D-TACE). Methods: A retrospective analysis of 23 patients with advanced liver cancer after D-TACE who were treated with carrelizumab combined with apatinib from April 2019 to July 2020 at Lianyungang First People's Hospital was carried out. There were 15 males and 8 females with a mean age of (62±9) years. The clinical efficacy was evaluated according to the modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (mRECRST), and treatment-related adverse events were analyzed after treatment. Results: All the patients received D-TACE therapy with an average of (2.6±1.0) times, TACE-refractory tumor was observed in 7 patients, and distant metastasis was seen in 6 patients. The objective response rates after combined treatment of 1 month and 3 months were 47.8% and 60.9%, respectively. Disease control rate (DCR) was 73.9% and 78.3%, respectively; median progression-free survival (mPFS) was 126 days. Among 18 patients with alpha fatoprotein (AFP)>200 μg/L, the values before and after treatment of 2 months was (497±117) μg/L and (80±19) μg/L, respectively (P<0.05). Among 9 patients of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)>142.2 ng/L, the values before and after treatment of 2 months was (154±51) ng/L and (57±19) ng/L, respectively (P<0.05). The incidence of treatment-related adverse events was 87.0% (20/23). All adverse reactions did not exceed grade 3 and could be controlled by symptomatic supportive treatment or reducing the dose of apatinib,and the serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) level after treatment of 3 months[(77±33) U/L] was higher than that before treatment [(45±26) U/L] (P<0.05). Conclusion: For patients with advanced liver cancer after D-TACE, the treatment of carrelizumab combined with apatinib is effective and the adverse reactions are controllable.

Abstract
Silicosis is caused by long-term exposure to dust containing crystalline silica. However, silica exposure, which may lead to autoimmune dysfunction, is associated with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, idiopathic inflammatory myopathy and anti-central granulocyte cytoplasmic antibody associated vasculitis. With silica exposure autoimmune diseases may exist with or without silicosis. This article reviews recent research on silica-associated autoimmune diseases such as the concept, epidemiology, clinical characteristics and potential mechanisms to improve the understanding of the disease and promote the formulation of diagnostic criteria and treatment plans.

Abstract
Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency is an autosomal codominant genetic disease characterized by low levels of alpha-1 antitrypsin in the blood. Clinically, in young patients, it mainly manifests as emphysema, acute/chronic liver injury and liver cancer. The treatment methods include symptomatic treatment and alpha -1 antitrypsin supplementation. However, the existing treatment cannot prevent the liver fibrosis progression. At present, more than ten cases of the disease have been reported in China, but the understanding of this disease is still indecisive. Moreover, there exists no biotherapy drug for this disorder. This article introduces the research progress of hepatocyte transplantation treatment for this disorder.

Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have pivotal roles in the initiation and progression of gastric cancer (GC), and miR-92a-3p has been proved to act as an oncogene in multiple malignancies. However, the molecular mechanisms by which miR-92a-3p contributes to GC remain unclear. The differentially expressed miRNAs were screened by GEO dataset, and the association of miR-92a-3p expression with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis in patients with GC was analyzed by TCGA dataset. The target genes of miR-92a-3p were identified by bioinformatic analysis, and their interaction was confirmed by luciferase reporter assay. MTT, EdU and Transwell assays were conducted to determine the role of miR-92a-3p in GC cells. As a result, it was found that the expression levels of miR-92a-3p were increased in GC tissues and were associated with tumor size, lymph node infiltration and distant metastasis, acting as an independent prognostic factor of poor survival in patients with GC. Restored expression of miR-92a-3p facilitated cell proliferation, DNA synthesis and cell invasion, but its inhibitor reversed these effects. KLF2 was further identified as a direct target of miR-92a-3p, indicating a negative correlation with miR-92a-3p expression and harboring a favorable prognosis in GC. In addition, KLF2 repressed cell proliferation and invasion and attenuated the tumor-promoting effects of miR-92a-3p in GC cells. Altogether, our findings demonstrated that miR-92a-3p promoted the proliferation and invasion of GC cells by targeting KLF2.

Abstract
Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is one of the main pathogens of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) and the main pathogen of severe HFMD. In 2015, three EV71 vaccines were successively marketed in China as powerful prevention and control tools for HFMD caused by EV71. To understand the efficacy, immunogenicity, safety and quality stability of the domestic EV71 vaccine after entering into the market and analyze potential problems in its application, this article incorporates research regarding the immune effect, population effect, safety, quality testing and evaluation results, vaccination willingness and vaccination behavior survey to explore the vaccination strategies for the donll stic EV71 vaccine. EV71 vaccine has good immunogenicity, safety, protective efficacy, and good quality stability after entering into the market, however, only a few study focused on its safety when inoculating with other immunization planning vaccines simultaneously. Strengthen safety monitoring and discuss the safety of the EV71 vaccine especially when simultaneously inoculate with other immunization program vaccines are still necessary. Enterovirus evolution and recombination, whilst the probable impact of the EV71 vaccine can be the reason for future changes of HFMD epidemic strains, hence continuous monitoring of antigenic mutations and genetic evolution of enterovirus should be responded to. Encouraging the R&D of polyvalent vaccines against HFMD is also necessary. Parents' lack of HFMD and EV71 vaccine knowledge was common, therefore HFMD knowledge should be strengthened at the same time when introducing the EV71 vaccine to the public. Also, it should be emphasized that the EV71 vaccine can only prevent HFMD caused by EV71.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics, immunophenotypes, and differential diagnostic features of extra-pleural solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) with uncommon histology. Methods: Seven cases of extra-pleural SFT with uncommon histology were collected during January 2015 and December 2016 in Zhejiang Provincal People's Hospital; the clinical and radiologic features, histomorphology, immunophenotype and prognosis were analyzed. EnVision method was used for immunohistochemical staining of STAT6, CD34 and other differential diagnosis associated markers. Results: There were five male and two female patients, age from 23 to 54 years (mean=39 years). Three tumors were located in the soft tissue of head and neck, two in trunk subcutaneous soft tissue, one in sella region, and one in the kidney. Grossly the tumors ranged from 0.4 to 8.0 cm (mean=3.1 cm). Microscopically, all three head and neck cases resembled giant cell angiofibroma/giant cell subtype SFT, and one case showed sheet-like pattern of the multinucleated syncytial cells, creating a biphasic arrangement similar to myofibroma. Both truncal tumor resembled lipomatous type SFT, with one similar to dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and the other to atypical spindle cell lipomatous tumor. The sella tumor showed morphology of a conventional SFT with high grade sarcomatous transformation. The renal tumor demonstrated a malignant SFT with entrapped benign renal tubules, mimicking a biphase synovial sarcoma or a malignant mixed epithelial and stromal tumor. By immunohistochemistry, all seven SFTs showed diffuse and strong nuclear reactivity to antibody against STAT6. Conclusions: Extra-pleural SFTs show a significant heterogeneity of morphology and biological behavior which could cause differential confusion.Careful attention to its characteristic histomorphology with the use of STAT6 immunohistochemistry can help distinguish this tumor from its many mimickers.

Abstract
The identification of network targets is one of the core issues used to reveal the molecular mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is also the grand challenge of modernization of TCM. In this study, a protein–protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed based on the integration of network pharmacology and metabolomics, which was used as an effective approach to elucidate the relationship between disease pathway proteins and the targets of active small-molecule compounds. The intermolecular transfer process of the drug effect of active compounds in Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM) was revealed and visualized using the PPI network. Our study indicates that PTGS2 was the most important disease protein regulated by the active compounds in SM. Furthermore, the drug targets that can be linked to PTGS2 were regarded as direct targets and the direct targets of the active compounds were identified, respectively. Western blot and co-immuno precipitation (Co-IP) were used to verify the results of the network analysis and reveal the intermolecular transfer process of the effect of Tan IIA. Biological validation revealed that Tan IIA-EDN1-PTGS2-anandamide was a major intervention way of Tan IIA on early atherosclerosis (AS). This work provides a new perspective for the discovery of drug targets and the specific approaches regulated by the active compounds in SM on disease pathway proteins, which is beneficial for understanding the mechanism of action of bioactive compounds and expanding their clinical applications. Abstract
Objective: To study the segment of liver according to the large amount of three-dimensional(3D) reconstructive images of normal human livers and the vascular system, and to recognize the basic functional liver unit based on the anatomic features of the intrahepatic portal veins. Methods: The enhanced CT primitive DICOM files of 1 260 normal human livers from different age groups who treated from October 2013 to February 2017 provided by 16 hospitals were analyzed using the computer-aided surgery system.The 3D liver and liver vascular system were reconstructed, and the digital liver 3D model was established.The vascular morphology, anatomical features, and anatomical distributions of intrahepatic portal veins were statistically analyzed. Results: The digital liver model obtained from the 3D reconstruction of CAS displayed clear intrahepatic portal vein vessels of level four.Perform a digital liver segments study based on the analysis of level four vascular distribution areas.As the less anatomical variation of left hepatic portal vein, the liver was classified into four types of liver segmentation mainly based on right hepatic portal vein.Type A was similar to Couinaud or Cho's segmentation, containing 8 segments(537 cases, 42.62%). Type B contained 9 segments as there are three ramifications of right-anterior portal vein(464 cases, 36.82%). The main difference for Type C was the variation of right-posterior portal vein which was sector shape(102 cases, 8.10%). Type D contained the cases with special portal vein variations, which needs three-dimensional simulation to design individualized liver resection plan(157 cases, 12.46%). These results showed that there was no significant difference in liver segmental typing between genders(χ(2)=2.179, P=0.536) and did not reveal any significant difference in liver segmental typing among the different age groups(χ(2)=0.357, P=0.949). Conclusions: The 3D digital liver model can demonstrate the true 3D anatomical structures, and its spatial vascular variations.The observation of anatomic features, distribution areas of intrahepatic portal veins and individualized liver segmentation achieved via digital medical 3D visualization technology is of great value for understand the complexity of liver anatomy and to guide the precise hepatectomy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To summarize the characteristics of family homicide cases and to provide reference for the analysis and prevention of such cases. METHODS Seventeen solved family homicide cases in Liyang from 2004 to 2014 were investigated. The original registration information, record of scene investigation, corpse inspection report and case situation were analyzed statistically. RESULTS The characteristics of the 17 family homicides cases showed that most victims were female and most suspects were male, and spouse infidelity and suspected spouse infidelity have higher proportion in the motives for the killings. Murders by patients with psychosis, camouflage murders and murder-suicides occupied a certain proportion in the family homicide cases. CONCLUSIONS The family homicide cases are correlated with the family factors such as extramarital sexual intercourse and murder by patients with psychosis. Some suspects suicided after murder. The tools for committing crimes have the features of simplicity, randomness and easy source availability.

Abstract
Objective:To compare the efficacy and side effect between intratympanic dexamethasone and subperiosteal injection of methylprednisolone treatment for sudden hearing loss.Method:One hundred and eight unilateral sudden hearing loss patients were enrolled in this study, randomly divided into A group, which was accepted intratympanic dexamethasone (10 mg/ml) , and B group, which was accepted post-auricular subperiosteal injection of methylprednisolone (40 mg/ml) by every 3 days intotal 5 times. After 3 months follow-up, analysis of the differences of pure tone threshold, tinnitus handicap inventory (THI), dizziness handicap inventory (DHI), blood glucose between pretreatment and postreatment was made. Side effect such as perforation of tympanic membrane, infection of post-auricular skin was also observed.Result:①Both in A and B group, there was no statistical changes in total efficiency and pure tone threshold decrease (P> 0.05), whereas the pure tone threshold statistical change was observed in the low frequency sudden deafness between A and B group (P< 0.05). ②Both in A and B group, there was no statistical changes in THI (P> 0.05), whereas the THI statistical decrease was observed in the high frequency sudden deafness between A and B group (P< 0.05). ③There was no statistical change in THI both in A and B group (P> 0.05). ④Both in A and B group, there was no statistical changes in fasting plasma glucose between pretreatment and postreatment (P> 0.05). ⑤There was no patient who had gotten tympanitis or postauricular infection, although in A group, there were 2 patients had gotten perforation of tympanic membrane, but they all healed after the follow-up.Conclusion:Both topical injection of glucocorticoid can improve pure tone threshold and reduce the score of THI and DHI for sudden hearing loss patients. Intratympanic dexamethasone can reduce more score of THI for high frequency sudden deafness patients whereas subperiosteal injection of methylprednisolone can improve pure tone threshold more for low frequency sudden deafness patients. None of the two administrations elevate blood glucose, but intratympanic dexamethasone have the risk of perforation of tympanic membrane.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical application value of prognostic nutritional index(PNI) for predicting overall survival(OS) in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: 123 patients with histologically confirmed non-small cell lung cancer were enrolled in this study, and their clinical and laboratory data were reviewed. The PNI was calculated as 10×serum albumin value+ 5×total lymphocyte countin peripheral blood.Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify the potential prognostic factors for advanced NSCLC. Results: PNI of the 123 NSCLC patients was 46.24±6.56. PNI was significantly associated with age, weight loss and pleural effusion (P<0.05). However, it showed no relationship with sex, smoking, hemoptysis, chest pain, dyspnea, histological type, clinical stage, and administration of chemotherapy (P>0.05). The median OS of the 123 patients was 19.5 months. The median OS in the higher PNI group (PNI≥46.24) and lower PNI group(PNI<46.24) were 25.2 months and 16.4 months, respectively.The 1-year survival rates were 80.6% and 63.9%, and 2-year survival rates were 54.8% and 19.6%, respectively (P<0.01). Univariate analysis showed that PNI, age, dyspnea, and weight loss were related to the OS of the advanced NSCLC patients (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis identified PNI as an independent prognostic factor for OS of advanced NSCLC (P<0.001). Conclusion: PNI can be easily calculated, and may be used as a relatively new prognostic indicator for advanced NSCLC in clinical practice.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the situation of recreational drug nitrous acid ester inhaler-rush poppers use in men who have sex with men (MSM). Methods: From April to June in 2014, October to December in 2014, April to June in 2015, three round cross-sectional surveys were conducted in MSM recruited in Nanjing by means of serum test and questionnaire survey. Results: Of the 1 721 MSM surveyed in three round, 19.3% (332/1 721) had ever used rush poppers, the proportions of MSM who used rush poppers in three round surveys showed an increasing trend (liner by liner χ(2)= 14.879, P=0.000), which was 12.6% (86/681), 27.6% (121/439) and 20.8% (125/601) respectively. Rush poppers use was associated with HIV infection significantly (OR=1.676, 95%CI: 1.201-2.339, P=0.002). Compared with MSM without rush poppers use, the MSM with rush poppers use were mainly aged <30 years, unmarried, received college and higher education, had lived in Nanjing for less than 2 years, seek sex partners through internet and identified themselves as homosexual orientation. Multivariate logistic analysis showed that less than 30 years old, living in Nanjing for less than 2 years, with college and higher education level, more than 2 sex partners in the past 6 months, being diagnosed with STDs in the previous one year and using traditional drugs were the risk factors associated with rush poppers use. Conclusion: Rush poppers use was related with HIV infection in MSM in Nanjing.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the clinical value and prognosis of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) treated by uterine artery embolization (UAE). METHODS In the study, 492 cases of patients in Nanjing Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University diagnosed as CSP between January 2011 and December 2014 were chosen, of which 283 were of high-risk group and 209 of low-risk group. According to whether to take UAE, the high-risk group was subdivided into high-risk UAE group(UAE+laparoscopic group), 167 cases, and high-risk non UAE group (chemotherapy+laparoscopic group), 116 cases, while the low-risk group was subdivided into low-risk UAE group (UAE+curettage group), 113 cases, and low-risk non UAE group(chemotherapy+curettage group), 96 cases. The differences of the intraoperative bleeding, length of stay, blood beta human chorionic gonadotropin (β-HCG) dropped to normal time, menstruation recovery time and the hospitalization expenses were compared. And multivariate regression analysis was used to predict the recurrence risk of CSP. RESULTS The high-risk UAE group was better than the high-risk non UAE group in comparison of intraoperative bleeding [(36.5±14.8) mL vs.(76.5±39.7) mL], length of stay [(5.9±0.9) d vs.(9.6±1.3) d], blood β-HCG dropped to normal time [(17.9±8.7) d vs.(28.7±10.1) d] and menstruation recovery time [(18.1±1.6) d vs.(24.3±1.8) d],while the low-risk UAE group was better than the low-risk non UAE group in comparison of intraoperative bleeding [(93.2±43.3) mL vs.(284.8±110.5) mL], length of stay [(10.2±1.4) d vs. (30.7±9.6) d], blood β-HCG dropped to normal time [(50.1±17.6)d vs.(67.5±22.9)d] and menstruation recovery time[(56.3±6.7)d vs.(65.9±9.3) d], all P<0.05. The high-risk UAE group was higher than the high-risk non UAE group in comparison of hospitalization expenses [(20 140±1 520 )Yuan vs.(13 510±1 013) Yuan], and the low-risk group UAE was also higher than the low-risk non UAE group in comparison of hospitalization expenses [(10 095±962 )Yuan vs.(3 890±457) Yuan], all P<0.01. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the treatment method was independent predictor of CSP recurrence risk (OR 2.407, 95%CI 1.176-5.092, P<0.05), and using the comprehensive treatment including UAE could reduce the risk of recurrent CSP. CONCLUSION As the efficacy of interventional therapy for CSP was rapid and reliable, fewer complications, faster recovery and lower recurrence, hospitalization with good conditions, and particularly for those patients with CSP who want to fertility again, the comprehensive treatment including UAE treatment should be the first choice.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate fungi contamination and the natural occurrence of mycotoxins in corn feed ingredients collected from China. Methods: A total of 94 corn feed ingredient samples were collected from 8 Chinese provinces(i.e., Anhui, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, and Shandong)in February 2014. A tandem ultra-performance liquid chromatographymass spectrometry method was used for simultaneous detection of twelve kinds of mycotoxins, including aflatoxin(AF), type A and type B tricothecenes, and zearalenone(ZEN). Contaminated fungi were also identified and counted. Results: AF was detected in 36.2%(34/94)of samples; the concentration of AFB1 was the highest in the four AFs with the range: 0.3~181.3 μg/kg; and then followed by AFB2(range: 1.0-74.3 μg/kg). There were 7 samples(7.5%)with AFB1 concentrations higher than the tolerance limit of 50 μg/kg. The concentration of type A tricothecenes in all samples was lower(0.1-10.5 μg/kg). DON had the most serious contamination than other kind of type B tricothecenes(range: 0.7-606.6 μg/kg; median: 66.3 μg/kg). The DON concentration in all samples was below the tolerance limit of 1 000 μg/kg. ZEN was detected in 76.6%(72/ 94)of samples(median: 36.9 μg/kg), with 3 samples having ZEN concentrations higher than the tolerance limit of 500 μg/kg. The survey on fungi contamination showed that all samples were contaminated by fungi(range: 5.0-1.4×105 CFU/g). There were 18 and 3 samples with quantities of fungi higher than the tolerance and forbidden limits, respectively. The Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium, Trichoderma and Mucor genuses were the predominant fungi in corn feed ingredients, with detection rates of 71.3%(67), 60.6%(57), 71.3%(67), 27.7%(26), and 24.5%(23), respectively. The detection rate of Fusarium moniliforme, 73.4%(69/94)was higher than that of Aspergillus flavus, 41.5%(39/94). Conclusion: In this survey, the corn feed ingredients were not seriously contaminated by AF and type A tricothecenes but mainly contaminated by type B trichothecenes, including DON and its derivatives, as well as ZEN. They were also contaminated by fungi such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Fusarium.

Abstract
1. Salmonella enteritidis (SE) is reported as the most common food-borne pathogen transmitted through poultry products. The natural resistance-associated macrophage protein 1 (NRAMP1) is a candidate gene associated with SE-mediated immune response and is related to the phagocytosis of SE. In this study, the classical single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) G2357A in exon 8 of the NRAMP1 gene was detected. The expression of NRAMP1 mRNA was first investigated in heterophil granulocytes and spleen in chicks from two different Chinese native breeds at 1, 3 and 10 d post-infection. In addition, the association with the effect of SE challenge was identified. 2. The G2357A SNP showed no significant association with Salmonella natural infection in birds from two different Chinese native breeds. 3. The upregulation of NRAMP1 mRNA in heterophils and spleen was involved in the response to pathogenic SE colonisation during the acute infection period in chicks. The results suggest that genetics, age, gender and interactions among these factors play important roles in the modulation of NRAMP1 mRNA expression and copy number by SE-mediated immune response in different Chinese chickens. 4. In conclusion, the enhancement of host immunity mediated by the upregulation of NRAMP1 mRNA in heterophil granulocytes and spleen might be more obvious and earlier in the chicks resistant to infections with SE than in susceptible chicks.

Abstract
We used magnetic resonance perfusion weighted imaging and pathological evaluation to examine different stages of radiation-induced brain injury and to investigate the correlation between the relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) ratio and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Thirty adult rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: control and radiation group. The control group was not subjected to irradiation. The irradiation group rats were examined by magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance perfusion weighted imaging at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after radiation treatment. We measured the rCBV, mean transit time, and time to peak. Hematoxylin and eosin staining, immunohistochemical staining, and electron microscopy were performed. VEGF absorbance was evaluated by immunohistochemical staining. Compared with the control group, the differences in rCBV, mean transit time, time to peak, and VEGF absorbance after 3 months were statistically significant (P < 0.05). rCBV was positively correlated with VEGF (r = 0.94, P < 0.05). Magnetic resonance perfusion weighted imaging can reflect pathophysiological changes in brain tissue after irradiation. Decreased expression of VEGF plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of radiation-induced brain injury.

Abstract
Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein-1 (NOD1) is a cytoplasmic pattern recognition receptor (PRR) and a key member of the NOD-like receptor (NLR) family. It has been reported that NLRs recognize a variety of microbial infections to induce the host innate immune response via modulation of NF-κB signaling. However, no reports on chicken NOD1 have been reported to date. In the current study, the full-length cDNA sequence of NOD1 was cloned. The complete open reading frame of NOD1 contains 2856 bp and encodes a 951 amino acid protein. Structurally, it is comprised of one caspase recruitment domain at the N-terminus, seven leucine-rich repeat regions at the C-terminus, and one NACHT domain between the N and C-termini. Phylogenetic analyses showed that chicken NOD1 clusters with duck and turkey. Furthermore, tissue-specific expression analyses of chicken NOD1 were performed using quantitative reverse transcription-PCR. NOD1 is widely distributed in various tissues, with the highest expression observed in testes. Finally, induced expression of chNOD1 and its associated adaptor molecule receptor-interacting protein 2, as well as the effector molecule NF-κB, was observed following S. enterica serovar Enteritidis infection. These findings highlight the important role of chicken NOD1 in response to pathogenic invasion. The present study is the first report of the cloning, expression, and functional analysis of chicken NOD1 and provides the foundation for future research on the structure and function of chicken NOD1.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is among the most common cancers in the world with a low survival rate. Our previous study showed Short chain enoyl-CoA hydratase (ECHS1) could bind to HBsAg (HBs) and that ECHS1's localization in mitochondria induced HepG2 cell apoptosis. However, the role of the ECHS1 in energy metabolism and autophagy during hepatocellular carcinoma development remains undefined. We aimed to determine what ECHS1 does to energy metabolism and its effects on HCC progression. We performed CCK-8, EdU assays in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines (HepG2 and HuH7) with stable ECHS1 knock-down. ATP and NADP+/NADPH levels were measured using an colorimetric assay. Our data demonstrated that ECHS1 silencing inhibited cell proliferation and induced autophagy. ECHS1 knockdown did not increase fatty acid synthesis, but decreased cellular ATP. This resulted in AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation and induced HCC cell autophagy. Our results showed that silencing ECHS1 to attenuate proliferation and induce autophagy may make it a novel cancer therapy target.

Abstract
The peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor-γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) is a candidate gene for meat quality traits because of its prominent role in muscle fiber type switching and determination. We investigated the effects of the PGC-1α gene on chicken skeletal muscle fiber type switching and on other meat quality traits. Single nucleotide polymorphisms were detected by PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing, and then genotyping was performed by PCR-ligation detection reaction methods. Skeletal muscle fiber types, intramuscular fat content, shear forces, and water loss rate of the gastrocnemius lateralis muscle were measured in Qingyuan Partridge chickens and Recessive White chickens. Four SNPs, C171T in exon2, C384T in exon3, G646A in exon5, and A948G in exon8 were detected. Marker-trait association analysis indicated that G646A polymorphism was associated with skeletal myofiber type and that H1 (CCAA) was the most advantageous haplotype for skeletal myofiber type. We concluded that polymorphisms of the PGC-1α gene and their haplotypes are associated with chicken skeletal myofiber type traits.

Abstract
Exposure of humans to low levels of environmental oxygen results in alveolar hypoxia and normally causes chronic pulmonary hypertension and morphological alterations of precapillary pulmonary vessels. In this study, the microarray dataset GSE11341 was used to identify potential differentially expressed genes related with human lung microvascular endothelial cell hypoxia. In addition, gene ontology term enrichment analysis was performed to explore their underlying functions. In addition, we also investigated the small molecules by comparing with the Connectivity Map. We found that hypoxia samples of 3, 24, and 48 h relative to 0 h displayed 22, 21, and 29 differentially expressed genes, respectively. Among them, six genes (ADM, HMOX1, VEGFA, EGLN3, APOLD1, and ANGPTL4) were closely related to pulmonary microvascular endothelial cell hypoxia response. Three drugs (pindolol, sulfapyridine, and ciclopirox) were selected as candidates to treat hypoxia-related pulmonary diseases. In conclusion, our results provide some underlying drug targets for treatment of hypoxic pulmonary patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND High-frequency ultrasonic transducer arrays are essential for high resolution imaging in clinical analysis and Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE). However, the structure design and fabrication of the kerfed ultrasonic array is quite challenging when very high frequency (≥100MHz) is required. OBJECTIVE AND METHOD Here we investigate the effect of kerf depth on the performances of array transducers. A finite element tool, COMSOL, is employed to simulate the properties of acoustic field and to calculate the electrical properties of the arrays, including crosstalk effect and electrical impedance. Furthermore, Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) deep etching process is used to etch 36°/Y-cut lithium niobate (LiNbO(3)) crystals and the limitation of etching aspect ratio is studied. Several arrays with different profiles are realized under optimized processes. At last, arrays with a pitch of 25μm and 40μm are fabricated and characterized by a network analyzer. RESULTS Kerf depth plays an important role in the performance of the transducer array. The crosstalk is proportional to kerf depth. When kerf depth is more than 13μm, the array with crosstalk less than -20dB, which is acceptable for the real application, could provide a desired resolution. Compared to beam focusing, kerf depth exhibits more effect on the beam steering/focusing. The lateral pressure distribution is quantitatively summarized for four types of arrays with different kerf depth. The results of half-cut array are similar to those of the full-cut one in both cases of focusing and steering/focusing. The Full-Width-at-Half-Maximum (FWHM) is 55μm for the half-cut array, and is 42μm for the full-cut one. The 5-μm-cut array, suffering from severe undesired lobes, demonstrates similar behaviors with the no-cut one. ICP process is used to etch the 36°/Y-cut LiNbO(3) film. The aspect ratio of etching profile increases with the kerf width decreasing till it stops by forming a V-shaped groove, and the positive tapered profile angle ranges between 62° and 80°. If the mask selectivity does not limit the process in terms of achievable depth, the aspect ratio is limited to values around 1.3. The measurement shows the electrical impedance and crosstalk are consistent with the numerical calculation. CONCLUSION The numerical results indicate that half-cut array is a promising alternative for the fabrication of high-frequency ultrasonic linear arrays. In fact, the minimum pitch that could be obtained is around 25μm, equivalent to a pitch of 1.6λ, with a kerf depth of 16μm under the optimized ICP parameters.

Abstract
BACKGROUND High-frequency ultrasonic transducer arrays are essential for high resolution imaging in clinical analysis and Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE). However, the fabrication of conventional backing-layer structure, which requires a pitch (distance between the centers of two adjacent elements) of half wavelength in medium, is really a great challenge. OBJECTIVE AND METHOD Here we present an alternative buffer-layer structure with a silicon lens for volumetric imaging. The requirement for the size of the pitch is less critical for this structure, making it possible to fabricate high-frequency (100MHz) ultrasonic linear array transducers. Using silicon substrate also makes it possible to integrate the arrays with IC (Integrated Circuit). To compare with the conventional backing-layer structure, a finite element tool, COMSOL, is employed to investigate the performances of acoustic beam focusing, the influence of pitch size for the buffer-layer configuration, and to calculate the electrical properties of the arrays, including crosstalk effect and electrical impedance. RESULTS For a 100MHz 10-element array of buffer-layer structure, the ultrasound beam in azimuth plane in water could be electronically focused to obtain a spatial resolution (a half-amplitude width) of 86μm at the focal depth. When decreasing from half wavelength in silicon (42μm) to half wavelength in water (7.5μm), the pitch sizes weakly affect the focal resolution. The lateral spatial resolution is increased by 4.65% when the pitch size decreases from 42μm to 7.5μm. The crosstalk between adjacent elements at the central frequency is, respectively, -95dB, -39.4dB, and -60.5dB for the 10-element buffer, 49-element buffer and 49-element backing arrays. Additionally, the electrical impedance magnitudes for each structure are, respectively, 4kΩ, 26.4kΩ, and 24.2kΩ, which is consistent with calculation results using Krimholtz, Leedom, and Matthaei (KLM) model. CONCLUSION These results show that the buffer-layer configuration is a promising alternative for the fabrication of high-frequency ultrasonic linear arrays dedicated to volumetric imaging.

Abstract
We show that the threshold voltages of both n- and p-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect-transistors (MOSFETs) can be lowered to close to zero by adding extra Schottky contacts on top of nanowires (NWs). Novel complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) inverters are constructed on these Schottky barrier modified n- and p-channel NW MOSFETs. Based on the high performances of the modified n- and p-channel MOSFETs, especially the low threshold voltages, the as-fabricated CMOS inverters have low operating voltage, high voltage gain, and ultra-low static power dissipation.

Abstract
A phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode (PhOLED) with a nanometer-thick (approximately 10 nm) Ni silicide/ polycrystalline p-Si composite anode is reported. The structure of the PhOLED is Al mirror/ glass substrate / Si isolation layer / Ni silicide / polycrystalline p-Si/ V(2)O(5)/ NPB/ CBP: (ppy)(2)Ir(acac)/ Bphen/ Bphen: Cs(2)CO(3)/ Sm/ Au/ BCP. In the composite anode, the Ni-induced polycrystalline p-Si layer injects holes into the V(2)O(5)/ NPB, and the Ni silicide layer reduces the sheet resistance of the composite anode and thus the series resistance of the PhOLED. By adopting various measures for specially optimizing the thickness of the Ni layer, which induces Si crystallization and forms a Ni silicide layer of appropriate thickness, the highest external quantum efficiency and power conversion efficiency have been raised to 26% and 11%, respectively.

Abstract
The left atrial posterior wall (LAPW) plays a critical role in atrial fibrillation, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In the present study, we sought to characterize the histological features of the LAPW. Different atrial regions were dissected from hearts of normal Sprague-Dawley rats and humans. Haematoxylin/eosin and van Gieson staining were used to analyse atrial cardiomyocyte arrangement and collagen distribution, respectively. Intercellular junctions were evaluated by transmission electron microscopy. In contrast with other atrial regions, the LAPW exhibited more disorganized cardiomyocytes, larger intercellular spaces and variable myocardial fibre arrangement. The proportion of collagen was significantly higher in the LAPW than in other atrial regions. Interestingly, desmosomes were sparse along with intercellular gaps in the LAPW. In summary, distinct disarrangement of cardiomyocytes and an abundance of collagen exist in the LAPW. The sparsity of desmosomes in the LAPW may be related to the heterogeneous distribution and separation of atrial myocytes.

Abstract
Si-rich silicon oxide (SRO)/Er-Si-O/SRO multilayers were prepared on p-Si substrates using magnetron sputtering. X-ray diffraction measurements indicate that a mixture of silicates Er(2)Si(2)O(7) and Er(2)SiO(5) was formed after the multilayers were annealed at 1000 and 1150 °C. Strong Er(3+) 1.53 µm photoluminescence (PL) at room temperature has been observed from these multilayers and the full width at half-maximum of the 1.53 µm peak is less than 1.8 nm for the multilayers annealed at 1150 °C. Er(3+) 1.53 µm electroluminescence has been observed from erbium silicate films for the first time.

Abstract
Single-crystalline n-type InP nanowires (NWs) with different electron concentrations were synthesized on Si substrates via the vapor phase transport method. The electrical properties of the InP nanowires were investigated by fabricating and measuring single NW field-effect transistors (FETs). Single InP NW/p(+)-Si heterojunctions were fabricated, and electroluminescence (EL) spectra from them were studied. It was found that both the photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the InP NWs and the EL spectra of the heterojunctions blueshift from 920 to 775 nm when the electron concentrations of the InP NWs increase from 2 × 10(17) to 1.4 × 10(19) cm(-3). The blueshifts can be attributed to the Burstein-Moss effect rather than the quantum confinement effect in the InP NWs. The large blueshifts observed in this study indicate a potential application of InP NWs in nano-multicolour displays.

Abstract
Silicon light source plays a key role in silicon optoelectronics, but its realization is an extremely challenging task. Although there are longterm intensive efforts to this topic, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the silicon-based electroluminescence is still no more than 1%. In this present report, a highly efficient silicon light source has been achieved. The device structure is p-Si (5 Omegacm)/ SiO2(approximately 2 nm)/ NPB / CBP: (ppy)(2)Ir(acac) / Bphen /Bphen: Cs2CO3 / Sm / Au. The SiO2 passivated Si is the anode having a suitably high hole-injection ability, and CBP: (ppy)(2)Ir(acac) is a highly efficient phosphor doped organic material. The device turn-on voltage is 3.2 V. The maximum luminance efficiency and maximum luminous power efficiency reach 69 cd/A and 62 lm/W, respectively, corresponding to a maximum PCE of 12% and an external quantum efficiency of 17%.

Abstract
The roles of amorphous Si nanoparticles in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on Er-doped Si(1+x)O(2) films (x representing the degree of Si content, and varying widely from 0 to 4.50) have been investigated. In the aspect of the LEDs' electrical performance, it was found that the incorporation of Si nanoparticles facilitates the electrical conductivity of the films by improving the carrier mobility. With x increasing from 0 to 4.50, the mobility increases monotonically up to 5 times. The efficiency of Er(3+) electroluminescence (EL) at 1.54 µm can be enhanced by as much as 160 times when the degree of Si content x is 2.00, coincident with the value at which the rate of mobility increasing versus x slows down. The fact that the maximum of EL efficiency and the slowing down of the rate of increase of mobility occur at the same x value can be explained by coalescence of Si nanoparticles starting at x = 2.

Abstract
One hundred and ninety three parental lines obtained from 26 countries for an international rice molecular breeding program were evaluated using 101 well-distributed simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. An overall genetic diversity of 0.68 and an average of 6.3 alleles per locus were revealed, indicating a high level of genetic variation in these lines. Cluster analysis of the 193 accessions showed three major groups and nine subgroups. Group I corresponded to the classical indica subspecies, whereas groups II and III belong to the japonica subspecies. Indica and japonica differentiation accounted for only 6.5% of the total variation in the entire sample and 93.5% was due to within-subspecies diversity. Differentiation among eco-geographic regions accounted for 24% of the diversity within the subspecies. Larger amounts of the eco-geographical differentiation were resolved within japonica than within indica. The largest indica-japonica differentiation based on the single locus level was detected by markers on chromosomes 9 and 12, while the smallest differentiation was detected by markers on chromosomes 4 and 8. Furthermore, genetic differences at the single-locus and two-locus levels, as well as components due to allelic and gametic differentiation, were revealed between indica and japonica and among the main geographic regions. The multilocus analysis in genetic diversity showed a higher proportion of variation caused by predominant non-random associations of different loci within and among the classified subspecies and geographic subdivisions. The results suggest that selection for eco-geographical adaptation on multilocus associations was largely responsible for the maintenance of the extensive variation in the primary gene pool of rice.

Abstract
A method of analyzing chromium(III) oligomers in aqueous solution by means of TSK-Gel ion exchange analytical column and diode array detector was developed. The effects of determination conditions, elution and ionic strength on analysis were investigated carefully and the analytical condition was optimized. The samples were separated for 10 min by using TSK-Gel SP-5PW(75 mm x 7.5 mm i.d., 10 microns) as column, 3 mol/L NaClO4-0.03 mol/L HClO4 as mobile phase, and detected at the wavelength of 200 nm. The method was simple, rapid and repeatable. This method was also used to determine the concentration of each fraction under various conditions of preparing chromium(III) oligomers and rendering the optimized preparation parameters.

Abstract
Acrylonitrile in ambient air was collected by Tenax GC and then thermo-desorbed. It was separated on GDX-502 chromatographic column from other pollutants and determined by flame-ion ization detector. The minimum detectable concentration was 0.01 mg/m3 when 2 L ambient air was collected. The recoveries were 85.6%-105.4% and RSDs were 4.5%-6.2%.

Abstract
We present a model with which to calculate the index increase induced in standard single-mode fiber by hydrogen loading. Also, we propose that the dominant products of reaction in UV-written hydrogenated standard communication fibers are GeE? and Si-OH. Based on the above models, we calculate the Bragg wavelength shifts that are due to hydrogen diffusion out of the fiber gratings. The relative effective index change that is due to hydrogen dissolved in fiber can be as much as 6 x 10(-4) if standard telecom fiber is hydrogen loaded with a concentration of ~1.44 mol.%. Theoretical results agree with experimental results.
