Abstract
PURPOSE To identify parameters and measurement methods of exercise therapy adherence, as well as barriers and facilitators affecting adherence among children and adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). METHODS Studies were eligible for inclusion if patients were 0-18 years of age, had JIA, and the focus of the research was on exercise therapy patterns, measurement/parameters of exercise adherence, and barriers/facilitators for exercise adherence. Two reviewers independently identified and categorized the barriers and facilitators to exercise therapy adherence using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF). RESULTS Twenty articles were included in this review. Among patients with JIA, 29%-99% adhered to exercise therapy. The most commonly measured parameters of adherence were session completion and behavior component, with a self-report log serving as the most common means of assessment. Time pressure, symptoms related to JIA, lack of enjoyment, and insufficient motivation were the main barriers. Facilitators were commonly identified as adequate motivation, effective symptoms management, and social support. CONCLUSIONS Future interventions should consider the identified factors to promote exercise engagement in children and adolescents with JIA. Strategies for promoting exercise adherence in children and adolescents with JIA is needed.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) formation is a multi-step pathological process that involves evolution of a heterogeneous immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. However, the specific cell populations involved and their origins and contribution to HCC development remain largely unknown. Here, comprehensive single-cell transcriptome sequencing was applied to profile rat models of toxin-induced liver tumorigenesis and HCC patients. Specifically, we identified three populations of hepatic parenchymal cells emerging during HCC progression, termed metabolic hepatocytes (HCMeta ), Epcam+ population with differentiation potential (EP+Diff ) and immunosuppressive malignant transformation subset (MTImmu ). These distinct subpopulations form an oncogenic trajectory depicting a dynamic landscape of hepatocarcinogenesis, with signature genes reflecting the transition from EP+Diff to MTImmu . Importantly, GPNMB+ Gal-3+ MTImmu cells exhibit both malignant and immunosuppressive properties. Moreover, SOX18 is required for the generation and malignant transformation of GPNMB+ Gal-3+ MTImmu cells. Enrichment of the GPNMB+ Gal-3+ MTImmu subset was found to be associated with poor prognosis and a higher rate of recurrence in patients. Collectively, we unraveled the single-cell HCC progression atlas and uncovered GPNMB+ Gal-3+ parenchymal cells as a major subset contributing to the immunosuppressive microenvironment thus malignance in HCC.

Abstract
Liver cancer arises from the evolutionary selection of the dynamic tumor microenvironment (TME), in which the tumor cell generally becomes more heterogeneous; however, the mechanisms of TME-mediated transcriptional diversity of liver cancer remain unclear. Here, we assess transcriptional diversity in 15 liver cancer patients by single-cell transcriptome analysis and observe transcriptional diversity of tumor cells is associated with stemness in liver cancer patients. Tumor-associated fibroblast (TAF), as a potential driving force behind the heterogeneity in tumor cells within and between tumors, was predicted to interact with high heterogeneous tumor cells via COL1A1-ITGA2. Moreover, COL1A1-mediated YAP-signaling activation might be the mechanistic link between TAF and tumor cells with increased transcriptional diversity. Strikingly, the levels of COL1A1, ITGA2, and YAP are associated with morphological heterogeneity and poor overall survival of liver cancer patients. Beyond providing a potential mechanistic link between the TME and heterogeneous tumor cells, this study establishes that collagen-stimulated YAP activation is associates with transcriptional diversity in tumor cells by upregulating stemness, providing a theoretical basis for individualized treatment targets.

Abstract
BACKGROUND At present, the treatment of acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) by aticepase (rt-PA) in emergency veins has become the main treatment mode in hospital, but the research on early hemorrhage complications in patients with emergency thrombolysis is rarely reported. This research aims to study the earlier warning index of early hemorrhage complications in patients with emergency thrombolysis. METHODS A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of rt-PA intravenous thrombolysis-treated AIS patients in the advanced stroke center of the emergency department of a tertiary grade hospital from January 2018 to May 2020. Patients were divided into a hemorrhage group and non-hemorrhage group according to the hemorrhage situation within 24 hours after thrombolytic therapy. The differences between the 2 groups in terms of pre-thrombolysis risk factors were analyzed. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the independent risk factors associated with post-thrombolysis hemorrhage. RESULTS After intravenous thrombolysis, the hemorrhage group had 91 cases and the non-hemorrhage group had 146 cases. Logistic regression analysis showed that atrial fibrillation, systolic blood pressure before thrombolysis, platelet count, and antiplatelet drugs were independent risk factors for hemorrhage after intravenous thrombolysis (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Patients with AIS have a higher incidence of hemorrhage after intravenous thrombolysis. Atrial fibrillation, systolic blood pressure before thrombolysis, platelet count, and antiplatelet drugs were independent risk factors for hemorrhage after intravenous thrombolysis. These independent risk factors can provide a basis for clinical nurses to evaluate hemorrhage risk in AIS patients after intravenous thrombolysis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Acute urinary retention (AUR) is rare during pregnancy.
CASE SUMMARY We report on three pregnant women with AUR between the 10th and 18th wk of gestation. Case 1 was first diagnosed as urinary tract infection and developed a urinary tract infection due to urinary retention caused by urethral obstruction. Case 2 had a history of previous abdominal surgery for pelvic tuberculosis, leading to severe adhesions and a persistent retroverted uterus. In case 3, healthcare providers focused on the patient’s gastrointestinal symptoms and did not investigate her inability to void. Case 1 required manual disimpaction of the uterus and the knee-chest position. The other cases required immediate catheterization. The condition resolved in cases 1 and 2; these patients had normal pregnancies. Case 3 had severe complications at the time of consultation, leading to an abortion.
CONCLUSION Retroverted uterus is the most common cause of AUR. Prompt recognition and diagnosis are required. Clinicians should be aware of the risk factors, etiology, and clinical presentation of AUR in the first and second trimester of pregnancy.

Abstract
Background To observe the relationship between Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α) and Neuropeptide Y (NPY) expression and neurological function score in epileptic children. Methods Fifty-four epileptic children diagnosed and treated in Xuzhou Children's Hospital, China from Feb 2017 to Mar 2018 were collected and included in a research group (RG), while 30 healthy children who underwent physical examination at the same time were included in the control group (CG). ELISA was used to detect the expression of TNF-α and NPY in the serum of children in the two groups, and those before treatment were compared. The National Institute of Health stroke scale (NIHSS) and Hamilton Anxiety (HAMA) scores before and after treatment were observed, and Pearson correlation was used to analyze the relationship between the expression levels of TNF-α and NPY in the serum as well as NIHSS and HAMA scores. Results The expression levels of TNF-α and NPY in the serum of children in the RG were significantly higher than those in the CG (P<0.001). The expression level of TNF-α was positively correlated with the NIHSS and HAMA scores (r=0.748, P<0.001) (r=0.772, P<0.001). The expression level of NPY was positively correlated with the NIHSS and HAMA scores (r=0.768, P<0.001) (r=0.643, P<0.001). Conclusion TNF-α and NPY are highly expressed in epileptic children and are positively correlated with neurological function score.

Abstract
Most primary liver cancer (PLC) cases progress mainly due to underlying chronic liver inflammation, yet the underlying mechanisms of inflammation-mediated PLC remain unclear. Here we uncover a TNF receptor II (TNFR2)-hnRNPK-YAP signaling axis in hepatic progenitor cells (HPC) essential for PLC development. TNFR2, but not TNF receptor I (TNFR1), was required for TNFα-induced activation of YAP during malignant transformation of HPCs and liver tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, heterogeneous nuclear ribonuclear protein K (hnRNPK) acted downstream of TNFα-TNFR2 signaling to directly interact with and stabilize YAP on target gene promoters genome-wide, therefore coregulating the expression of YAP target genes. Single-cell RNA sequencing confirmed the association of TNFR2-hnRNPK with YAP expression and the pathologic importance of HPC. Accordingly, expressions of TNFR2, hnRNPK, and YAP were all upregulated in PLC tissues and were strongly associated with poor prognosis of PLC including patient survival. Collectively, this study clarifies the differential roles of TNFRs in HPC-mediated tumorigenesis, uncovering a TNFR2-hnRNPK-centered mechanistic link between the TNFα-mediated inflammatory milieu and YAP activation in HPCs during PLC development. SIGNIFICANCE: This work defines how hnRNPK links TNFα signaling and Hippo pathway transcription coactivator YAP in hepatic progenitor cells during primary liver tumorigenesis.

Abstract
The present study was aimed to evaluate the association of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) gene (S447X and Hind III) polymorphisms and T2DM. Relevant studies were identified through systematic search PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Wanfang, CNKI databases. A total of 22 studies (8 studies for LPL S447X and 14 studies for Hind III) were included. The results showed that the LPL S447X polymorphism was associated with the low risk of T2DM under dominant and allelic genetic models. Subgroup analysis by ethnicity showed that the LPL S447X polymorphism was associated with a decreased risk of T2DM in the Asian population (under dominant, heterozygous and allelic genetic models). In addition, we found that X allele carriers of S447X polymorphism is associated with low levels of TC, TG, and LDL. In subgroup analysis, Hind III polymorphism was associated with low risk of T2DM in Asian populations (under dominant, heterozygote, allele genetic models). Moreover, the carriers of H allele of Hind III have lower levels of TG, and higher levels of HDL-C. This meta-analysis demonstrated that 447X carriers and H allele in LPL gene associated with low risk of T2DM, which may due to in part to the change of serum level of TC, TG, LDL, and HDL.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To evaluate the effects of exercise programmes on pain, function and disease activity in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). MATERIALS AND METHODS We searched PubMed, Embase, CNKI and Wanfang from inception to February 2020. Randomized controlled trials comparing exercises with nonexercise interventions in AS patients were applied. Studies that assessed the visual analogue scale (VAS) pain score, the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI), C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) were included. Outcomes of home-based exercise intervention were also reported independently. RESULTS Ten studies met the inclusion criteria in all, including 534 patients (278 exercise, 256 control). Compared with the nonexercise group, exercise group had statistically significant improvements in pain (weighted mean difference [WMD]: -1.02 [95% CI: -1.50 to -0.55]) (I2 : 31%, P <.0001), BASDAI (WMD: -0.85 [95% CI: -1.09 to -0.61]) (I2 : 20%, P <.00001), and BASFI (WMD: -0.66 [95% CI: -0.95 to -0.38]) (I2 : 0%, P <.00001), but not in CRP and ESR. What's more, home-based exercise programmes had positive impacts on BASFI, BASDAI and pain. CONCLUSIONS For patients with AS, exercise programmes improve pain, function and disease activity. To confirm the results, more well-designed randomized controlled trials with large number of patients are required.

Abstract
Electrocatalytic water decomposition is the key to sustainable energy, and the design and synthesis of cost-effective electrocatalysts is the main objective of electrocatalytic water splitting. In this paper, multi-interfacial FeOOH@NiCo2O4 hybrid nanoflowers are prepared through a two-step hydrothermal reaction. In such heterostructures, NiCo2O4 nanoflowers are coated with a layer of FeOOH nanoparticles. In addition, the obtained electrocatalyst could provide abundant electroactive sites and the formation of FeOOH@NiCo2O4 nanointerfaces can also improve the charge transfer rate. As a result, under the HER and OER conditions, the prepared catalysts show an outstanding electrocatalytic performance. Moreover, in a two-electrode water splitting system, the FeOOH@NiCo2O4 heterostructure, as a dual-function electrocatalyst, needs a cell voltage of only 1.58 V at a current density of 10 mA cm-2. This study provides a facile and feasible method to construct different kinds of heterostructures as bifunctional electrocatalysts with multiple interfaces by a simple hydrothermal method.

Abstract
AIMS To identify and evaluate the application of two novel monoclonal antibody (mAb) 2G12 against outer membrane protein (Omp) C and mAb 12B1 targeting the O chain of the lipopolysaccharides (LPS) of Escherichia coli O157:H7 (ECO157). METHODS AND RESULTS The sensitivity and specificity of these two antibodies were evaluated with eight ECO157 strains and 68 untargeted strains. mAb 2G12 and 12B1 had no detectable binding with any of the non-O157 strains at 6·0 log10 CFU per ml, while its high specificity and affinity remained with all ECO157 strains. When a higher level (8·0 log10 CFU per ml) was tested, 2G12 and 12B1 did not react with 82·35 and 97·06% of the non-O157 strains respectively. Based on the pair of two antibodies, the sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay detected 100% (8/8) of ECO157 strains and none of the non-ECO157 strains. The detection limit of ECO157 strains in pure culture were 4·2 ± 0·2 log10 CFU per ml. When the developed test was applied to artificially inoculated beef samples, the detection limit was 6·0 log10 CFU per gram without enrichment and 1·0 log10 CFU per gram after 12 h of enrichment. CONCLUSIONS The two novel antibodies identified in this study served as great candidates for the recovery, and detection of ECO157 from different environmental and food samples. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY ECO157-specific detection was improved by a combination of the novel OmpC mAb and LPS mAb with defined target antigen and good specificity.

Abstract
Efficacy and safety of sodium valproate (SV) and lamotrigine (LTG) in treating refractory epilepsy (RE) in children and the predictive value of serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and central nervous system specific S100β protein (S100β) on efficacy assessment were explored. A total of 110 RE children admitted to Xuzhou Children's Hospital, Xuzhou Medical University were enrolled. Patients treated with SV alone served as the control group (n=51), and those treated with SV plus LTG as the study group (n=59). Serum NSE and S100β expression levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The efficacy, seizure frequency, adverse reactions, concentration of serum brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF), and expression of serum NSE and S100β were observed and compared. The total effective rate in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the seizure frequency and incidence of adverse reactions were significantly lower than that in the control group. The study group showed remarkably higher BDNF and NGF than the control group after treatment. The expression of serum NSE and S100β in effectively treated children were significantly lower than that in ineffectively treated children. The area under the curve (AUC) of serum NSE and S100β were 0.828 and 0.814 respectively. SV combined with LTG is better and safer than SV alone in the treatment of RE in children. Serum NSE and S100β are of high value in predicting the efficacy.

Materials & methods: FBXW7 transcript data were collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas and the Genotype-Tissue Expression project. IOSE, A2780 and SKOV3 cells were used for in vitro and in vivo studies. Results: FBXW7α and FBXW7γ are dominant protein-coding transcripts that were downregulated in OSC. FBXW7γ overexpression reduced the protein expression of c-Myc, Notch1 and Yap1 and suppressed OSC cell growth in vitro and in vivo. FBXW7γ expression was an independent indicator of longer disease-specific survival (HR: 0.588; 95% CI: 0.449-0.770) and progression-free survival (HR: 0.708; 95% CI: 0.562-0.892). Conclusion: FBXW7γ is a tumor-suppressive and might be the only prognosis-related FBXW7 transcript in OSC.

Abstract
The construction of heterojunction system can promote the separation and transfer of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, which is conducive to the degradation of sewage. In this paper, heterostructured Bi2O3/Bi2S3 nanoflowers are fabricated by a one-step hydrothermal method. The microstructure and optical absorption properties are studied through the detailed characterization of this heterojunction. The visible light photocatalytic ability of as-prepared Bi2O3/Bi2S3 heterojunctions are investigated by photocatalytic removals of RhB and Cr(VI). The results of photocatalysis indicate that removal efficiencies of RhB and Cr(VI) over Bi2O3/Bi2S3 heterojunction are higher than those of pure Bi2O3 and Bi2S3. The improved photocatalytic performance of the Bi2O3/Bi2S3 heterojunctions could be attributed to a combination of the p-n junction between the p-type Bi2S3 and n-type Bi2O3, and large specific surface areas (46.31 m2 g-1). Moreover, the probable photocatalytic mechanism of composite photocatalysts is explored in detail by active species trapping experiments, N2 adsorption-desorption, the transient photovoltage electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and photoluminescence measurements. This work provides new insights into building of the efficient and novel heterogeneous photocatalysts and other energy-related devices.

Abstract
Efficacy of levetiracetam (LEV) combined with sodium valproate (SV) on pediatric epilepsy and its effect on serum miR-106b in children were investigated. One hundred and twenty children with epilepsy in Xuzhou Children's Hospital from July 2015 to July 2017 were enrolled, and divided into control group (n=60) and observation group (n=60) according to random sampling. Additionally, 100 children undergoing normal physical examination were collected as normal group. Patients in the control group were treated with SV, and patients in the observation group were treated with SV and LEV. RT-qPCR was used for detecting the relative expression of serum miR-106b in children. The clinical efficacy was evaluated. After treatment, the relative expression of serum miR-106b in the control group was significantly higher than that in the observation group (P<0.05). The difference in the control group was smaller than that in the observation group (P<0.05). According to the ROC curve analysis, when the cut-off value was 1.442, the sensitivity, specificity and area under curve (AUC) of miR-106b in the diagnosis of pediatric epilepsy were 94.00, 64.17 and 0.833 respectively. The clinical efficacy in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group (P<0.05). Spearman's test showed that the expression of miR-106b gradually decreased with the continuous improvement of the clinical efficacy (P<0.05). The AUC of miR-106b was 0.833, 95% CI: 0.779 to 0.887, the cut-off was 1.442. LEV combined with SV is effective in the treatment of children with epilepsy, and does not increase the clinical ADR. The expression of serum miR-106b in children can be used as a clinical prognostic indicator and a potential diagnostic indicator.

Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study is to assess the current situations of standard exercise treatment and predictors of non-standard exercise in Chinese patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). An analysis of the effect of standard exercise on health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) was also conducted.Methods: In the cross-sectional study, a total of 259 AS patients were constantly invited to participate in this study and complete the questionnaire under the researchers' supervision in a clinical setting including sociodemographic variables, clinical variables, psychological variables, and HR-QoL. Data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square test as well as multivariable analysis of Binary Stepwise Logistic Regression.Results: The data showed that just 20.5% of them could complete the standard exercise. Exercise adherence was associated with employment, educational level, marital status, place of residence, treatment of Tumor Necrosis Factor-α inhibitor, knowledge about exercise, disease duration, clinical variables, and anxiety. The HR-QoL in the group of standard exercise was better than that in the non-standard exercise group. Logistic Regression Analysis showed that lower educational level, less knowledge about benefits of exercise treatment and higher score of Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) were the independent risk factors of exercise treatment non-adherence.Conclusion: AS patients educated less than 9 years or with higher BASDAI score were more likely not to adhere to standard exercise treatment. Non-adherence to exercise treatment among AS patients is exceedingly common, particularly in patients without knowledge about benefits of exercise treatment. Standard exercise treatment can also improve HR-QoL of AS patients.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD)-associated pruritus is a common adverse symptom in patients with end-stage renal disease treated by dialysis. Herein, a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence of CKD-associated pruritus among adult dialysis patients was conducted.An electronic search of PubMed, Web of Science, Elsevier, Wanfang, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure databases was conducted from inception to November 23, 2016, and all cross-sectional studies that reported the prevalence of CKD-associated pruritus in dialysis were collected. The pooled prevalence was estimated by random-effects model. Potential publication bias was evaluated by the funnel plot as well as Begg and Egger tests.After rigorous screening, a total of 42 studies conducted on 11,800 patients were included in this study. The overall prevalence of CKD-associated pruritus among adult dialysis patients was 55% (95% confidence interval [CI], 49-61, I = 97.6%), the stratification of which was 55% (95% CI, 45-65, I = 94.7%) in men and 55% (95% CI, 46-65, I = 93.3%) in women. In hemodialysis (HD) patients, the prevalence of CKD-associated pruritus was 55% (95% CI, 49-62, I = 97.9%), while in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, it was 56% (95% CI, 44-68, I = 89.9%). The prevalence of CKD-associated pruritus for mean dialysis duration <40 months was 56% (95% CI, 48-63, I = 75.1%), while that for mean dialysis duration ≥40 months was 50% (95% CI, 36-64, I = 99.1%).The prevalence of CKD-associated pruritus is high in HD and PD. The prevalence among adult dialysis patients is comparable between China and foreign countries as well as between females and males. Studies with the similar disease definition and analysis of the effects of risk factors on CKD-associated pruritus are needed.

Abstract
Co-occurrence of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and deoxynivalenol (DON) is one of the most common mycotoxin contaminations in cereal crops and food ingredients. However, the mechanism of their combined toxicity is poorly understood. In the current investigation, the hepatoma HepG2/C3A cell line was used to explore the combined cytotoxicity of AFB1 and DON. The values of IC50, based on a sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay, were 4.5 mM and 18.7 mM for DON and AFB1, respectively. The analysis of cytotoxicity endpoints using the combination index (CI) theory revealed that the changes of mitochondrial membrane permeability and ATP resulted from an additive cytotoxic effect (CI≈1) of AFB1 and DON. However, the endpoints of double strand DNA (ds-DNA), reactive oxygen species (ROS) and cell viability (SRB) were synergistically (CI<1) affected in a dose-dependent manner. RNA-seq analysis demonstrated a number of uniquely expressed genes in their combination (AFB1: 2.5 mM, DON: 0.56 mM), indicating a synergistic interaction between AFB1 and DON at a molecular level. Additional transcriptomics analysis showed that the endoplasmic reticulum stress-associated JNK/p38/MAPK pathway was induced by DON, whereas the p53 signalling pathway was activated by AFB1. The expression profiles of apoptosis-related genes caspase-3, Bax and Bcl-2 suggested a mitochondria-mediated apoptosis pathway that was shared between AFB1 and DON. Thus, different cytotoxicity pathways and their converging at the apoptotic process might be the mechanism of the additive/synergistic cytotoxicity of AFB1 and DON to HepG2/C3A cells.

Abstract
Epilepsy is a common children's neural disease that is largely controlled by anti-epileptic drugs. Nevertheless, children experience repeated attacks that develop into intractable epilepsy (IE). The aim of the present study was to examine the inherited metabolic abnormalities in children with IE to provide early etiological and symptomatic treatment. Urine and blood samples of 56 children with IE served as the experimental group and 56 cases of children with IE, who were successfully treated served as the control group, and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry for the metabolic screening of amino, organic, and fatty acids. Urine routine, hepatic function, blood biochemistry, imageology of encephalon and brain stem-evoked potential (auditory and optical) were also examined. Of the 27 IE children confirmed as abnormal in urine and blood screening, there were 19 cases (70.3%) of hypoevolutism or retrogression of intelligence and motor function, 15 cases (55.5%) of brain stem-evoked potential and of encephalic computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) abnormality, 6 cases (22.2%) of abnormal family history and of abnormal blood biochemistry and blood gas analysis, and 5 cases (18.5%) with skin change and of abnormal hepatic function. Of the 27 cases, 11 cases (19.6%) were diagnosed with inherited metabolic diseases. Among the children in the control group, 3 cases showed abnormal urine test results, one of which had family history, one had hypoevolutism or retrogression of intelligence and motor function, one had brain stem-evoked potential and encephalic CT or MRI abnormality, while two of the 3 cases had inherited metabolic abnormalities. The correlation analysis revealed that abnormal urine test was significantly correlated with inherited metabolic abnormalities (P<0.05). Of the 56 IE patients, 25 cases (44.6%) were identified as abnormal under urine screening, and of the 25 cases, 6 cases had simple generalized seizure (24.0%), 5 cases had simple partial seizure (20.0%), 2 cases had multiple types of seizure (8.0%), and 12 cases had infantile spasms (48.0%). Six cases in the control group showed an abnormal urine test, with 3 cases of simple generalized seizure, 2 cases of simple partial seizure and 1 case of multiple types of seizure. The abnormal urine in infantile spasms was often the risk factor of IE. A total of 46 IE children underwent blood screening and 13 cases were diagnosed as abnormal. In conclusion, inherited metabolic abnormality was a common influential factor in the pathogenesis of IE, especially in infantile spasms. Screening of inborn metabolic abnormality in children with IE should be conducted as early as possible, to achieve early treatment and improve their prognosis.

Abstract
We quantitatively discuss the influence of quenched disorder on the ferromagnetic quantum phase transition in metals, using a theory that describes the coupling of the magnetization to gapless fermionic excitations. In clean systems, the transition is first order below a tricritical temperature T_{tc}. Quenched disorder is predicted to suppress T_{tc} until it vanishes for residual resistivities ρ_{0} on the order of several μΩ cm for typical quantum ferromagnets. We discuss experiments that allow us to distinguish the mechanism considered from other possible realizations of a first-order transition.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Aicardi-Goutières syndrome (AGS) is a rare early-onset genetic encephalopathy. The aim of this study was to explore the clinical, imaging and genetic features of a family with AGS, which may contribute to definite diagnosis, genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis of this rare disease in China. We summarized the characteristics of AGS through reviewing related references. METHOD Information of the proband and other family members as well as their DNA samples were collected. All the exons and exon-intron boundaries of pathogenic genes were amplified with PCR and were directly sequenced for genomic DNA. And we reviewed the reports of 252 cases. RESULT (1) The proband was a 6 years plus 7 months old boy. He presented with severe developmental delay and abnormal posture mainly as torsion of limbs. By physical examination he was found to have some chilblain-like skin lesions at the end of limbs and microcephaly. The CT scan of his head displayed multiple calcification, especially in the basal ganglia. The MRI of his head displayed a hypointense signal in T1-weighted (T1W) images and a hyperintense signal in T2-weighted (T2W) in cerebral white matter and cystic lesions in temporal white matter. The younger sister of the proband presented with chilblain-like skin lesions on her face and the end of limbs had no developmental delay. The CT of her head showed multiple calcification, especially in the basal ganglia. (2) Two mutations were identified in TREX1, one was a novel nonsense mutation (c.294_295insA), and the other was a known pathogenic mutation (c.868_885del). (3) The common performances of AGS included mental retardation [92% (231/252) ], dystonia [75% (189/252)], microcephaly [63% (159/252) ], chilblain [42% (106/252) ], basal ganglia calcification [100% (252/252)], brain atrophy[88% (222/252)] and cerebral white matter lesions [86% (217/252)]. TREX1 [38% (96/252) ] and RNASEH2B [23% (58/252)]are the most common pathogenic genes. CONCLUSION We determined pathogenic gene of these patients which is the basis of genetic counseling for this family. c.294_295insA mutation is a novel mutation not reported around the world yet.

Abstract
Acute-on-chronic hepatitis B liver failure (ACHBLF) has a poor prognosis in patients with hepatitis B virus infection. The role of the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), which reflects the inflammatory status of the patient before treatment, has never been studied in this setting. To investigate the predictive value of NLR in patients with ACHBLF, a retrospective cohort with 216 patients and a prospective validation cohort with 73 patients were recruited. Multivariate analyses showed that total bilirubin (TBIL), NLR, age and model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score had prognostic significance for survival. Both NLR (0.781) and MELD score (0.744) had higher ROC curves, which differed significantly from those for age (0.615) and TBIL (0.691), but not from each other (P = 0.94). NLR ≤ 2.36 predicted lower mortality (with 91.6% sensitivity and 86.0% negative predictive value), and NLR >6.12 was a warning sign for higher mortality risk (with 90.1% specificity and 80.3% positive predictive value). These results demonstrated that pretreatment NLR was associated with the prognosis of patients with ACHBLF, and elevated NLR predicted poor outcome within 8 weeks. We suggest that NLR cut-offs of ≤ 2.36 and >6.12 are powerful markers for predicting mortality in ACHBLF.

Abstract
In this article, AgVO3@AgBr@Ag nanobelt heterostructures were fabricated as an efficient visible-light photocatalyst through a hydrothermal process, an anion-exchange reaction, and a light-induced reduction. SEM and TEM characterization revealed that anion exchange followed by light-induced reduction is an efficient method to synthesize well-dispersed AgBr@Ag nanoparticles on the surface of AgVO3 nanobelts. The composite photocatalyst efficiently combines visible-light active AgBr and AgVO3 with the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of Ag nanoparticles. The obtained catalyst displayed a high performance for removing organic dye in the range of visible light. This improved visible-light response likely originates from a synergistic effect of the different components. This work provides a versatile approach for accessing efficient, stable, and recyclable visible-light-driven plasmonic photocatalysts.

Abstract
It is a known fact that Pd-based bimetallic nanostructures possess unique properties and excellent catalytic performance. In this work, the Au-Pd alloy and core-shell nanostructures have been prepared by a simple one-pot hydrothermal coreduction route, and their formation process and mechanism are discussed in detail. A reducing capacity-induced controlled reducing mechanism is proposed for the formation process of Au-Pd bimetallic nanostructures. CTAB plays a key role in the formation of alloy Au-Pd nanostructures. When CTAB is absent, the products are typical core-shell nanostructures. Moreover, the as-prepared nanostructures exhibit excellent electrocatalytic ORR performance in alkaline media, especially for Au-Pd alloy nanostructures. The overpotential of oxygen reduction gets reduced significantly, and the peak potential is positive-shifted by 44 and 34 mV in comparison with the core-shell ones and Pd/C catalyst, respectively. Thus, the controllable preparation and excellent electrocatalytic properties will make them become a potentially cheaper Pd-based cathodic electrocatalyst for DAFCs in alkaline media.

Abstract
Downregulation of hSSB1, a single-stranded DNA-binding protein, causes increased radiosensitivity, defective checkpoint activation and genomic instability. However, the mechanisms of hSSB1 function in these responses remain to be uncovered. Here, we present evidence that hSSB1 directly binds p21 and this interaction may prevent p21 from ubiquitin-mediated degradation. Furthermore, both promotion of the G1/S transition and abrogation of the G2/M checkpoints induced by hSSB1 knockdown are partially dependent on p21. Most importantly, hSSB1 and p21 levels are positively correlated in human hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC), as determined by immunostaining. Therefore, hSSB1 may positively modulate p21 to regulate cell cycle progression and DNA damage response, implicating hSSB1 as a novel, promising therapeutic target for cancers such as HCC.

Abstract
In this paper, we report on the fabrication of a novel rutile TiO(2) architecture consisting of nanorods with {110} exposed facets through a simple hydrothermal method without using any templates. An outside-in ripening mechanism is proposed to account for the formation of the TiO(2) architectures.The formation of the TiO(2) architectures can be attributed to the Ostwald step rule and highly acidic medium. Significantly, the current method is suitable for high-yield (>98%) production of the TiO(2) architectures with nearly 100% morphological yield. This research provides a facile route to fabricate rutile TiO(2) with three-dimensional microstructures based on nano units. It is easy to realize their industrial-scale synthesis and application because of the simple synthesis method, low cost, and high yield.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the level of CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ regulatory T cells and observe relation between expression of Foxp3 and CD127 in peripheral blood of chronic HBV infection. METHODS CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ and CD4+ CD25+ CD127low Treg in peripheral blood from 34 patients of immune tolerance stage, 26 patients of immune clearance stage and 31 patients of non-active status were quantitatively analyzed by flow cytometry. RESULTS Immune tolerance group presented a higher fraction of CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ and CD4+ CD25+ CD127low Treg than non-active group in chronic HBV infection (Z = -2.693, P = 0.007 and t = 3.251, P = 0.002), and HBV positive group also presented a higher fraction than non-active group (t = 2.266, P = 0.026 and t = 3.208, P = 0.002), But ALT normal group is similar to ALT abnormal group (P > 0.05). In this study, the relation between expression of CD127low and Foxp3+ from CD4+ CD25+ regulatory T cells was observed, and CD4+ CD25+ CD127low Treg presented a higher fraction than CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ Treg. CONCLUSION Peripheral Treg in HBV active replication group is higher than HBV negative group of chronic HBV infection. Expression of CD127low is consistent with Foxp3+ in CD4+ CD25+ regulatory T cells, but the former is significantly higher than the latter.

Abstract
We model friction acting on the tip of an atomic force microscope as it is dragged across a surface at nonzero temperatures. We find that stick-slip motion occurs and that the average frictional force follows (absolute value lnv)(2/3), where v is the tip velocity. This compares well to recent experimental work, permitting the quantitative extraction of all microscopic parameters. We calculate the scaled form of the average frictional force's dependence on both temperature and tip speed as well as the form of the friction-force distribution function.

Abstract
Phospholipase D (PLD) has been implicated in various processes, including signal transduction, membrane trafficking, and membrane degradation. Multiple forms of PLD with distinct biochemical properties have been described in the cell. In Arabidopsis, PLDalpha and PLDgamma, but not PLDbeta, were detected in guard cells, and antisense suppression resulted in a specific loss of PLDalpha. The abrogation of PLDalpha rendered plants less sensitive to abscisic acid and impaired stomatal closure induced by water deficits. PLDalpha-depleted plants exhibited accelerated transpirational water loss and a decreased ability to tolerate drought stress. Overexpression of PLDalpha enhanced the leaf's sensitivity to abscisic acid. These findings provide molecular and physiological evidence that PLDalpha plays a crucial role in regulating stomatal movement and plant-water status.

Abstract
Phospholipase D (PLD), which hydrolyzes phospholipids into free head groups and phosphatidic acid (PA), may regulate cellular processes through the production of lipid and lipid-derived messengers. We have genetically abrogated PLD alpha, the most prevalent isoform of PLD in plants, and the depletion of PLD alpha in Arabidopsis decreased the levels of PA and superoxide production in Arabidopsis leaf extracts. Addition of PA promoted the synthesis of superoxide in the PLD alpha-depleted plants, as measured by chemiluminescence and superoxide dismutase-inhibitable, NADPH-dependent reduction of cytochrome c and nitroblue tetrazolium. The PA-enhanced generation of superoxide was associated mainly with microsomal membranes. Among various lipids tested, PA was the most effective stimulator with the optimal concentrations between 100 and 200 microM. The PA-promoted production of superoxide was observed also in leaves directly infiltrated with PA. The added PA was more effective in stimulating superoxide generation in the PLD alpha-depleted leaves than in the PLD alpha-containing, wild-type leaves, suggesting that PA produced in the cell was more effective than added PA in promoting superoxide production. These data indicate that PLD plays a role in mediating superoxide production in plants through the generation of PA as a lipid messenger.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the relationship between human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DRB1 and DQ alleles and the genetic susceptibility of type 1 diabetes in North Chinese children. METHODS Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques were used to amplify the second exon of DRB1 and DQ alleles, after which sequence specific olignucleotide probe (SSOP) dot blot hybridization techniques were used to analyze the amplified products. RESULTS DRB1 * 0301, DQA1 * 0301, DQB1 * 0201 alleles and DRB1 * 0301-DQA1 * 0501-DQB1 * 0201 haplotype were significantly increased in patients, while DQA1 * 0103 and DQB1 * 0601 alleles were significantly increased in controls. The distribution of DR4 and DR9 haplotypes in patients and controls were not significantly different, but DR3/DR4 and DR4/DR9 heterozygotes were significantly increased in patients. CONCLUSIONS DRB1 * 0301, DQA1 * 0301 and DQB1 * 0201 confer susceptibility while DQA1 * 0103 and DQB1 * 0601 confer protection to type 1 diabetes. DRB1 * 0301-DQA1 * 0501-DQB1 * 0201 haplotype offers a predisposition to type 1 diabetes in North Chinese. Although the distribution of DR4 and DR9 in patients and controls had no significant difference, DR3/DR4 and DR3/DR9 heterozygotes were significantly increased in patients, showing that the susceptive effects of DR3 and DR4 or DR4 and DR9 haplotypes could be added up.

Abstract
Phospholipase D (PLD) is encoded by a multiple gene family, and several PLDs from Arabidopsis have been characterized at the molecular biological and biochemical levels. PLDalpha is the most abundant plant PLD and exhibits a number of different biochemical properties to the other isoforms. The other PLDs have many overlapping catalytic properties but display some unique patterns of expression during development and in response to stress cues. Accumulating data indicate that different PLDs have multiple and different roles in plant responses to stress.

Abstract
The physical locations of the 18S-5.8S-26S rDNA sequences were examined in three sorghum species by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) using biotin-labeled heterologous 18S-5.8S-26S rDNA probe (pTa71). Each 18S-5.8S-26S rDNA locus occurred at two sites on the chromosomes in Sorghum bicolor (2n = 20) and S. versicolor (2n = 10), but at four sites on the chromosomes of S. halepense (2n = 40) and the tetraploid S. versicolor (2n = 20). Positions of the rDNA loci varied from the interstitial to terminal position among the four accessions of the three sorghum species. The rDNA data are useful for investigation of chromosome evolution and phylogeny. This study excluded S. versicolor as the possible progenitor of S. bicolor.

Abstract
To study the effects of Chinese herbal medicine Tangshenkang (TSK) capsule on diabetic nephropathy (DN), 57 patients with DN were randomly divided into two groups, the treated group and the control group, they were treated with TSK capsule and the conventional therapy respectively. There were serious disorders of metabolism in DN patients, that showed the TXB 2/6-keto-PGF1 alpha ratios and lipid peroxidase (LPO) levels were higher than that of healthy people. After 6 weeks treated with TSK capsule the albuminuria levels reduced obviously (decreased 51%), renal plasma flow (RPF) increased, glomerular filtration rate and the LPO levels decreased and a positive correlation was observed between albuminuria levels and TXB 2/6-keto-PGF1 alpha ratios while the clearance rate of creafinin didn't improve significantly. There were no significant difference in the above-mentioned parameters in the control group before and after treatment. These results suggested that TSK capsule possessed a significant effect in improving albuminuria and glomerular function. And the effect of TSK might be due to its adjusting TXB 2/6-keto-PGF1 alpha ratios and its lipid-peroxidation in DN patients.

Abstract
A model of solar energetic particles (SEP) has been developed and is applied to solar flares during the 1990/1991 CRRES mission using data measured by the University of Chicago instrument, ONR-604. The model includes the time-dependent behavior, heavy-ion content, energy spectrum and fluence, and can accurately represent the observed SEP events in the energy range between 40 to 500 MeV/nucleon. Results are presented for the March and June, 1991 flare periods.

Abstract
The galactic cosmic rays (GCR) contain fully stripped nuclei, from Hydrogen to beyond the Iron group, accelerated to high energies and are a major component of the background radiation encountered by satellites and interplanetary spacecraft. This paper presents a GCR model which is based upon our current understanding of the astrophysics of GCR transport through interstellar and interplanetary space. The model can be used to predict the energy spectra for all stable and long-lived radioactive species from H to Ni over an energy range from 50 to 50,000 MeV/nucleon as a function of a single parameter, the solar modulation level phi. The details of this model are summarized, phi is derived for the period 1974 to present, and results from this model during the 1990/1991 CRRES mission are presented.
