Microstructural correlation of cross rolling temperature of AT55 magnesium alloy in mechanical and formability behaviour

The development of magnesium alloy includes two key aspects, such as microstructure and texture, which play vital roles in mechanical and forming behaviour. In this study, cross-rolled Mg-5Al-5Sn alloy at various temperatures (350 °C, 400 °C, and 450 °C) with a 60% reduction in thickness was investigated. The effect of cross rolling temperature on the Mg-5Al-5Sn alloy microstructure, texture, tensile properties, and formability was studied. The yield strength increases from 114 MPa to 150 MPa with decreasing rolling temperature, which is attributed to grain refinement phenomena. This finding demonstrates that the AT55 Mg alloy possesses an impact on cross rolling temperature, viz. the formability increases with increases in cross rolling temperature. The alloy processed at 350 °C shows better strength and less formability than that of the alloy processed at 450 °C ( lower strength but good formability at room temperature, with an Erichsen value of 4.3 mm).

Forming and shaping of professional identity within pre-registration physiotherapy curricular: A scoping review

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this review was to explore how professional identity is formed and shaped within pre-registration physiotherapy curricular.

DESIGN

A scoping review using the PRISMA guidelines from the Joanna Briggs Institute to capture a range of evidence describing how professional identity has been formed and shaped in pre-registration physiotherapy curricular.

DATA SOURCES

Databases searched included: PubMed 1996-Present, Embase 1974-Present, CINAHL 1961-Present, ProQuest Health and Medical Collection 1938-Present and Google Scholar (2004-Present). Additional studies were identified by scanning reference lists and hand searching for relevant articles.

REVIEW METHODS

The research team collaboratively designed the data charting table and two project leads independently extracted and screened the data as per guidance from the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewers Manual. A meta-synthesis was conducted in this scoping review to identify common themes from qualitative research to provide a deeper understanding of literature. To ensure feasibility of collating results, components of pre-registration curricular in physiotherapy students describing associations of forming and shaping professional identity were charted.

RESULTS

A total of 21 articles were reviewed. Articles were categorised into three categories of shaping (5, 24%), forming (9, 43%) or forming and shaping (7, 33%). Five themes emerged from the meta-synthesis pertaining to forming and shaping professional identity: self, skills, curriculum, program, location.

CONCLUSIONS

This scoping review illustrates the evidence for multidimensional components of physiotherapy curricular involved to assist in shaping and forming professional identity in pre-registration physiotherapy students. The results of this review can provide a foundation level into the understanding of what professional identity is, although further research is required to understand how it could be best implemented in pre-registration physiotherapy curricular.

Extrusion-based additive manufacturing of forming and molding tools

The production of rapid tools for plastic molding, sheet metal forming, and blanking has always been a critical and important goal for applied research, and a very large number of alternative methods have been proposed over the decades for their production. Among these methods, the use of extrusion-based additive manufacturing (EAM), such as fused filament fabrication (FFF) or similar technologies, has not been frequently considered and needs to be explored extensively. EAM is generally considered a low-cost, low-quality, low-performance class of AM and not suited to produce real functional parts, but only for aesthetical prototypes. However, the capabilities of EAM technologies have greatly evolved and now it is possible to extrude a wide range of materials such as polymeric materials including both the low strength polymeric materials (such as nylon or PLA) and the high strength polymeric materials (such as PEI and PEEK), metals (such as tool steel), and even ceramics (such as zirconia). Starting from an extensive literature review, the purpose of the present paper is to further demonstrate the potential applicability and versatility of EAM as a rapid tool manufacturing technology for different applications in shearing, bending, deep drawing, and injection molding.

Parasitic engineering for RRAM control

The inevitable current overshoot which follows forming in filamentary RRAM devices is often perceived as a source of variability that should be minimized. This sentiment has led to efforts to curtail the overshoot by decreasing the parasitic capacitance using highly integrated 1T-1R or 1R-1R device structures. While this is readily achievable in single device test structures, it poses an intricate design constraint for memory array designs. Several papers (Degraeve et al., 2010, 2014; Fantini et al., 2013; Raghavan et al., 2013; Padovani et al., 2015) suggest that there is insufficient current to form stable filaments for small parasitic capacitances and/or low current compliance levels. Thus, the relationship between minimizing overshoot current and improved filament stability is tenuous. In this study, we utilize the forming energy-based understanding of filamentary forming to reveal that the parasitic capacitance should be optimized, rather than minimized for better filament control.
