Abstract
Induced autoimmunity or autoinflammatory-like conditions as a rare vaccine-related adverse event have been reported following COVID-19 vaccination. Such inadvertent adverse reactions have raised somewhat concerns about the long-term safety of the developed vaccines. Such multifactorial phenomena may be related to the cross-reactivity between the viral-specific antigens with the host self-proteins through molecular mimicry mechanism and/or nonspecific bystander activation of the non-target antigen-independent immunity by the entities of the vaccine products. However, due to the low incidence of the reported/identified individuals and insufficient evidence, autoimmunity following the COVID-19 vaccination has not been approved. Thereby, it seems that further designated studies might warrant post-monitoring of the inevitable adverse immunologic reactions in the vaccinated individuals, especially among hypersensitive cases, to address possible immunological mechanisms induced by the viral vaccines, incorporated adjuvants, and even vaccine delivery systems.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE Vaccines are a safe and efficacious way to prevent a variety of infectious diseases. Over the course of their existence, vaccines have prevented immeasurable morbidity and mortality in humans. Typical symptoms of systemic immune activation are common after vaccines and may include local soreness, myalgias, nausea, and malaise. In the vast majority of cases, the severity of the infectious disease outweighs the risk of mild adverse reactions to vaccines. Rarely, vaccines may be associated with neurological sequela that ranges in severity from headache to transverse myelitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, and Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). Often, a causal link cannot be confirmed, and it remains unclear if disease onset is directly related to a recent vaccination. OBSERVATIONS This review serves to summarize reported neurologic sequelae of commonly used vaccines. It will also serve to discuss potential pathogenesis. It is important to note that many adverse events or reactions to vaccines are self-reported into databases, and causal proof cannot be obtained. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE Recognition of reported adverse effects of vaccines plays an important role in public health and education. Early identification of these symptoms can allow for rapid diagnosis and potential treatment. Vaccines are a safe option for prevention of infectious diseases.

Abstract
Vaccination against COVID-19 is one of the critical tools to provide herd immunity, reduce mortality, and control the pandemic worldwide. Despite the safety of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 in the healthy population, a minority of people may develop rare post-vaccine adverse reactions such as autoimmune syndromes. The current study aimed to identify and present a series of patients with de-novo autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs) associated with COVID-19 vaccines. Inclusion criteria were the onset of ARDs symptoms at ∼3-4 weeks post-vaccination, age ≥ 16, no previous history of ARDs, meeting the classification criteria for one of the ARDs, and staying in the follow-up. The most commonly used vaccines in patients were Sinopharm [7 cases (50%)] and AstraZeneca [6 cases (42.9%)]. ARDs were significantly more common in subjects who received the AstraZeneca vaccine than in those who received other vaccines. Based on the results, patients were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis or one of its subtypes (5 cases), vasculitis (4 cases), systemic lupus erythematosus (3 cases), and peripheral seronegative spondyloarthritis (2 cases). Except for one patient with self-limitation of ARD, others were treated with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, and one case developed irreversible neurological complications. Indeed, our data can warn physicians about the possibility of ARDs post-vaccination, lead to faster diagnosis, prevent loss of window of opportunity for treatment, and prevent irreversible organ damage. Based on the published literature, autoimmune phenomena post-COVID-19 vaccination may be related to the overstimulation of mediators and cytokines due to complicated antigen-specific/non-specific immunological responses and mechanisms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection, various vaccines have been developed and used in a large number of people worldwide. One of the most commonly used vaccines is the mRNA vaccine developed by Moderna. Although several studies have shown this vaccine to be safe, the full extent of its side effects has not yet been known. Miller-Fisher syndrome (MFS) is a rare condition that manifests ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and loss of tendon reflexes. It is a subtype of Guillain-Barré syndrome and an immune-mediated disease related to serum IgG anti-GQ1b antibodies. Several vaccines including those for COVID-19 have been reported to induce MFS. However, there have been no reports of MFS following Moderna COVID-19 vaccine administration. CASE PRESENTATION A 70-year-old man was referred to our hospital due to diplopia that manifested 1 week after receiving the second Moderna vaccine dose. The patient presented with restricted abduction of both eyes, mild ataxia, and loss of tendon reflexes. He was diagnosed with MFS based on his neurological findings and detection of serum anti-GQ1b antibodies. The patient was administered intravenous immunoglobulin, and his symptoms gradually improved. Five days after admission, the patient showed peripheral facial paralysis on the right side. This symptom was suggested to be a delayed onset of peripheral facial nerve palsy following MFS that gradually improved by administration of steroids and antiviral drugs. CONCLUSION There have been no previous reports of MFS after Moderna COVID-19 vaccination. This case may provide new information about the possible neurological side effects of COVID-19 vaccines.

Abstract
Most of the adverse effects reported in patients who have received COVID-19 vaccines have been mild. However, possible serious adverse effects are being monitored cautiously. There have also been a number of case reports of reactivation of varicella zoster infection within 28 days after immunization with mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. A few cases have also been reported after viral vector and inactivated COVID-19 vaccination. The incidence of meningitis following varicella zoster virus infection is rare. In the current study, we report two cases of male patients who received two different types of COVID-19 vaccine (inactivated and viral vector) and developed varicella zoster meningitis within 10 days after vaccination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Acute haemorrhagic leukoencephalitis (AHLE), a rare variant of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), often presents differently from classical ADEM, thereby posing a diagnostic challenge to the clinician. AIM To report AHLE, its clinic-radiological manifestations, process of diagnosis and prognosis. METHOD AND RESULTS Eight patients presented with altered sensorium, acute focal deficits with or without seizures. Initial workup showed evidence of haemorrhagic lobar or thalamic lesions in seven patients. All patients underwent extensive evaluation for collagen vascular disease and vasculitis profile, autoimmune encephalitis panel and aquaporin-4 antibody, which were found to be normal. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biochemistry and microscopy was non-contributory and CSF viral PCRs, toxoplasma antibodies, cryptococcal antigen were also negative. All patients had progressively worsening sensorium and neurological deficits. Repeat MRIs showed increase in oedema in the lesions and appearance/expansion of haemorrhage in the thalamic/hemispherical lesions. All patients received intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) without any benefit. Four patients underwent plasmapheresis (PLEX), one received intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and one received both second line immunotherapies, without significant improvement. Brain biopsy (performed in three patients) showed inflammatory demyelination and areas of haemorrhage, thus confirming the diagnosis. Six patients succumbed in 7-30 days of the illness, despite aggressive treatment and only two survived, albeit with a significant disability. CONCLUSION AHLE is a rare, yet very severe variant of ADEM. MRI shows lesions with haemorrhages, oedema and mass effect and histology findings reveal inflammatory infiltrates, haemorrhagic foci and fibrinoid necrosis of vessel walls. Prognosis is worse as compared to the classic ADEM, with a high mortality rate. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the largest series of AHLE to have been reported anywhere in the world. KEYMESSAGE Acute encephalopathy, multifocal deficits accompanied by haemorrhagic CNS demyelinating lesions with oedema and mass effect are the key features of AHLE. It is a rare, yet very severe form of ADEM with very high morbidity and mortality.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) caused by Novel Coronavirus named as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) was declared Pandemic by The World Health Organization (WHO) and a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on January 30, 2020. Many COVID-19 vaccines have been developed, including CoronaVac vaccines by Sinovac. Health care workers, along with medical clerkship students are the priority to receive the vaccine. However, the Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) of the CoronaVac remains unclear. This study aims to describe and analyze the adverse events following immunization (AEFI) of COVID-19 vaccination in medical students in clerkship programs. METHOD We conducted a cross-sectional study using a questionnaire to assess AEFI after CoronaVac vaccination among medical clerkship students. A Chi-Square test with 95 % of CI was used to determine whether gender correlated with symptoms of AEFI. RESULT We identified 144 medical clerkship students. The most common AEFI of SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations was localized pain in the injection site during the first dose with 25 (45 %) reports and the booster dose with 34 (67 %) reports. Then followed by malaise, the first dose with 20 (36 %) reports and the booster dose with 21 (41 %) reports. Other symptoms like headache, fever, shivering, sleepiness, nausea, dysphagia, and cold were also reported. CONCLUSIONS CoronaVac SARS-COV-2 vaccine has several mild symptoms of AEFI and not correlated with gender. Nevertheless, follow-up after vaccination is needed to prevent immunologic responses that may occur in some patients.

Abstract
Biannual vaccination of the cattle with inactivated foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine is the control strategy in endemic countries. Reduction in the milk yield is one of the main reasons for poor compliance of the cattle owners to FMD vaccination. As it can adversely affect the herd immunity, the present study aimed to quantify the losses in the milk yield post-FMD vaccination. Retrospective data on the milk yield (kg) recordings, days in milk, parity, and age at vaccination of the Deoni and crossbred cows were collected from 10 days before (-10) to 10 days after (+10) FMD vaccination (dpv). Days in milk were categorized into three stages of lactation for Deoni and crossbred cows. Age (month) was categorized into four classes. Least squares means of the milk yield were generated after adjusting for year, age, parity, and stage of lactation. Based on exploratory data analysis, the corrected milk yield records from -2 to +2 dpv for 5 years comprising 614 data points on Deoni cows (n=54) and 488 data points on crossbred cows (n=55) were used for the final analysis. Because of the correlated errors on the corrected milk yield, linear mixed model ANOVA was done by fitting dpv as fixed effect and cow as random effect, and the results revealed the effect of dpv was non-significant (P>0.05) in either breed. With respect to dpv 0, a marginal reduction of 90 g in the corrected milk yield in the Deoni cow was recorded on dpv 1, while the reduction was about 360 g on dpv 0 as compared dpv -1 in the crossbred cow. It was concluded that FMD vaccination caused a transient non-significant reduction in the milk yield in the Deoni and crossbred cows.

Abstract
PURPOSE In Turkey, pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) was introduced to the national immunization program as PCV7 in 2008, and was replaced with PCV13 in 2011. The aim of the study was to demonstrate the pneumococcal carriage rate and the serotype distribution in healthy children under 5 years in Turkey who were vaccinated with PCV13. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study including the collection of questionnaire data and nasopharyngeal (NP) specimens among children aged <5 years from five centers from March 2019 to March 2020. Pneumococcal isolates were identified using optochin sensitivity and bile solubility. Serotyping was performed using a latex agglutination kit and Quellung reaction. RESULTS NP swab samples were collected from 580 healthy children. The observed overall carriage rate was 17.8%. None of the hypothesised predictors of S. pneumoniae carriage, except maternal education level was statistically significant (p = 0.017). High maternal education level appeared to decrease the risk (lower vs. higher maternal education OR: 1.992 [95% CI; 1.089-3.643], p = 0.025). The overall NP S. pneumoniae carriage prevalence for the PCV13-vaccinated children was 17.8% (103/580). The most common serotypes detected were serotype 15B (n = 10, 9.7%), serotype 23F (n = 9, 8.7%), serotype 23A (n = 9, 8.7%), serotype 11A (n = 7, 6.7%), serotype 19F (n = 5, 4.8%) and serotype 15F (n = 5, 4.8%). Of the isolates, 28 (27.2%) were in PCV13 vaccine strains (VSs), and 75 (72.8%) strains were non-VS. The serotype coverage rate was 27.2% for PCV13. CONCLUSION The overall S. pneumoniae carriage rate was higher than in earlier studies from Turkey. Post-vaccine era studies from around the world have reported a decrease in VS serotypes and a 'serotype replacement' to non-VS serotypes, as we determined in our study.

Abstract
The cross-sectional seroprevalence study of the peste des petits ruminants (PPR) in sheep and goats was carried out in the Southern Peninsular region of India to ascertain the prevalence of PPR virus (PPRV) antibodies at the epidemiological units (epi-units) level in the small ruminant population. The serum samples were collected from various epi-units (villages) in the different states and union territory (UT) in Southern Peninsular region using a stratified random sampling methodology from August 2017 to March 2018. A total of 6643 serum samples [sheep (n = 2785) and goats (n = 3858)] were collected from 360 epi-units and were screened by PPR competitive ELISA kit for the detection of PPRV antibodies. The results revealed that the seroprevalence of PPR in small ruminants in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala states, and Puducherry UT was 87.0%, 66.4%, 64.3%, 47.8%, 11.4%, and 50.4%, respectively in the studied region. Further, the results of the chi-squared test revealed that the PPRV antibodies across different states and UT in the region were associated (sheep-χ2 = 218.8, p < 0.01; goats-χ2 = 827.1, p < 0.01), as all the states and UT adopted the PPR vaccination programme. The study also implies that the small ruminants in some of the epi-units (n = 102) had < 30% seroprevalence, which necessitates comprehensive intensive vaccination and active surveillance programmes to make this region as PPR free zone.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Rotavirus gastroenteritis accounts for significant childhood morbidity and mortality worldwide. Vaccination using RotarixTM (GSK) and RotaTeq® (Merck) was introduced due to the tremendous disease burden. The possibility of asymptomatic infections following vaccinations was poorly understood. This study examined rotavirus cases in post-vaccinated children, their clinical manifestations and the genotypes of isolated strains. METHODS Stool samples of healthy, vaccinated children under 5 years of age in Surabaya were collected monthly for 1 year between January 2016 and February 2017. Episodes of gastroenteritis were reported, and samples were collected. Rotavirus was identified using multiplex reverse transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (QIAGEN, Inc., Valencia, CA). Clinical manifestations were measured using the Vesikari score. The genotype was analyzed by Applied Biosystems (Foster, CA). RESULTS A total of 109 stool samples were collected from 30 subjects, of which 22 received Rotarix; 8 RotaTeq. Nine out of 109 samples were collected during diarrhea episodes of 8 subjects. Two asymptomatic rotavirus infections were identified by RT-PCR. The genotypes isolated were G1P[8] and G3P[8]. CONCLUSIONS Asymptomatic rotavirus infections can occur in post-vaccinated children. Strains identified were homologous to serotypes eliciting gastroenteritis in unvaccinated children of the same community.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The VACCINE [Vaccine Against Cervical Cancer Impact and Effectiveness] study evaluated the prevalence of quadrivalent vaccine-targeted human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes (HPV 6, 11, 16, 18) amongst young women of vaccine-eligible age. METHODS Between October 2011 - June 2015, women aged 18-25 years from Victoria, Australia, were recruited through targeted advertising on the social networking website Facebook. Participants completed an online questionnaire and provided a self-collected vaginal swab for HPV DNA detection and genotyping (Linear Array HPV genotyping assay). Self-reported HPV vaccination details were verified with the National HPV Vaccination Program Register (NHVPR). RESULTS Of 1223 who agreed to participate, 916 (74.9%) completed the survey and, for 1007 (82.3%) sexually-active participants, 744 (73.9%) returned the self-collected swab, of which 737 contained detectable DNA. 184/737 (25.0%) were positive for HPV. Vaccine-targeted HPV genotypes were detected in only 13 (1.7%) women: 11 HPV 16 (six vaccinated after sexual debut, five unvaccinated) and two HPV 6. Prevalence of any of HPV 31/33/45 collectively was 2.9%, varying significantly by vaccination status (fully 2.0%, unvaccinated 6.8%; p = 0.01). Vaccination rates among the sexually-active cohort were high, with 65.6%, 71.6% and 74.2% of participants having received three, at least two or at least one dose of vaccine, respectively. Of women self-reporting HPV vaccination, the NHVPR confirmed one or more doses were received in 90%. Strong associations were observed between vaccination status, age, language spoken at home and country of birth, as well as between HPV detection and the number of male sexual partners. CONCLUSION Surveillance five to eight years' post-initiation of a national HPV vaccination program demonstrated a consistent and very low prevalence of vaccine-related HPV genotypes and some evidence of cross protection against related types amongst vaccine-eligible women from Victoria, Australia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The 7-valent conjugate pneumococcal vaccine (PCV7) was introduced by the Turkey National Immunization Program in 2008 and replaced by the PCV13 in 2011. We assessed the impact of PCV vaccination on the nasopharyngeal (NP) carriage, serotype distribution and antimicrobial resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae (SP) among healthy Turkish children. METHODS A prospective surveillance study was performed between September 2011 and September 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey. NP swabs, demographic data, and vaccination statuses were obtained from 2165 healthy children aged 0-18years. Pneumococcal carriage was defined by a positive culture; serotyping was performed via multiplex conventional PCR, and the antibiotic susceptibilities of the isolates were determined based on the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). RESULTS The prevalence of pneumococcal carriage was 6.4%. The carriage rates were 8%, 7%, and 5% in the following age groups: 0-24months, 25-60months, and >60months, respectively. The carriage rate was significantly higher in the 0-24month age group than in the >60months age group (p=0.03). Sixty percent of the children were not vaccinated with any PCV; 4%, 2%, and 4% received at least 1, 2 or 3 doses and 30% children received the full schedule (4 doses) of either PCV7 or PCV13. Among the isolated S. pneumoniae strains, 45% were of the non-vaccine type (NVT) and 55% were of the vaccine type (VT). The children who received at least a single PCV dose had significantly lower odds of colonization via VT serotypes than the non-vaccinated children [odds ratio: 0.61 (95% confidence interval=0.41-0.91), p=0.01]. The percentages of the serotypes covered by PCV7 and PCV13 were 51% and 56%, respectively. The most frequently isolated serotypes were 6A/B/C (n=22, 16.5%), 19F (n=18, 13.5%), 23F (n=15, 11.2%), serotype 9V/A (n=10, 7.5%), 12F (n=5, 4.5%), 15A/F (n=7, 4.5%) and 22 A/F (n=6, 4.5%). Using the meningitis criteria and the MIC, 62% of the isolates were resistant to penicillin and 13% were non-sensitive to ceftriaxone. Erythromycin and clindamycin resistance were 43% and 31%, respectively. CONCLUSION We shown that following nation-wide PCV vaccination, S. pneumoniae NP carriage was decreased.
