Abstract
This study aimed to assess the fluctuations of antibody serum titers for Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum in naturally infected crossbred cows during gestation and to investigate transplacental transmission of T. gondii; 51 cows were monitored during pregnancy by monthly serologic testing by indirect fluorescent antibody test. 33 cows were seronegative for both N. caninum and T. gondii, 10 were seropositive only for N. caninum, 5 were seropositive only for T. gondii, and 3 were seropositive for both N. caninum and T. gondii. In both protozoan infections, great variation in antibody levels in pregnant cows was observed, and there was significant increase (p<0.05) in the comparison between the averages of serological titration per trimester. There was a significant correlation (p<0.05) between month and probability of seropositivity for T. gondii. We conclude that pregnancy influences antibody titers of crossbred cows naturally infected with N. caninum and/or T. gondii, and that serologic testing for T. gondii in pregnant cows from the sixth month of gestation onward may decrease the number of false negative results.

Abstract
Butyrophilin (BTN1A1) gene is located in the neighborhood of a quantitative trait loci for milk production in bovine autosome 23. We verified the genetic variability of exon-3 in BTN1A1 and its association with milk production traits in Holstein Friesian crossbreds of Kerala. Genomic DNA was isolated and 94 bp fragment enclosing exon-3 was amplified by primers designed using PRIMER 3 based on reference sequence (GenBank NC_037350). Pooled amplicons were sequenced by Sanger's method and a novel single nucleotide polymorphism due to a transversion of guanine to adenine at position 21 of amplicon (G21A) leading to amino acid change arginine to glutamine was detected. The study population was genotyped by high-resolution melt curve analysis and revealed two genotypes with frequencies GG/0.84 and GA/0.14. The allele G was found to be the major one (G/0.93 and A/0.07). Moreover, association analysis of G21A with milk production traits was done using the General linear model-Analysis of Variance considering herd, season, and parity as non-genetic factors and milk production trait as a dependent variable. In analysis, animals with GA genotype were found to be having significantly higher (p ≤ 0.01) 305 day milk (GG:2720.74 ± 122.92 kg; GA:3250.20 ± 183.24 kg), fat (GG:106.55 ± 4.32 kg; GA:126.30 ± 13.35 kg), and SNF yield (GG: 211.52 ± 9.20 kg; GA: 246.90 ± 13.70 kg). However, GG (7.80 ± 0.04) genotype has significantly higher (p ≤ 0.05) SNF percent than GA (7.65 ± 0.07). Butyrophilin gene polymorphism G21A can be suggested as a molecular marker for future breeding programmes of cattle.

Abstract
Liver abscesses in feedlot cattle are a polymicrobial infection with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Trueperella pyogenes as the primary and secondary etiologic agents, respectively. Cattle with liver abscesses do not exhibit clinical signs and the abscesses are detected only at slaughter. The objective was to conduct metabolomics analysis of purulent materials of liver abscesses to identify biochemicals. Liver abscesses from crossbred cattle (n = 24) and Holstein steers (n = 24), each fed high-grain finishing diet with tylosin (n = 12) or no tylosin (n = 12), were included in the study. Abscess purulent materials were analyzed by ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy. A total of 759 biochemicals were identified and were broadly categorized into carbohydrates, energy metabolism pathways intermediates, peptides, amino acids and their metabolites, lipids and their metabolites, nucleotides, vitamins and cofactors, xenobiotics, and partially characterized molecules. The top 50 biochemicals identified included amino acids, lipids, nucleotides, xenobiotics, peptides, and carbohydrates and their metabolites. Among the 15 amino acid metabolites in the top 50 biochemicals, four were tryptophan metabolites, indoleacrylate, indolepropionate, tryptamine, and anthranilate. The 3-phenylpropionate, a product of phenylalanine metabolism, was the predominant metabolite in purulent materials. Between the four treatment groups, a two-way ANOVA analysis identified biochemicals that exhibited significant main effects for cattle type and in-feed tylosin use and their interactions. A total of 59 and 85 biochemicals were different (P < 0.05) between the cattle type (crossbred vs. Holstein steers) and in-feed tylosin use (tylosin vs. no tylosin), respectively. Succinate, an intermediate of lactate fermentation by some bacterial species, was one of the top 30 biochemicals that differentiated the four treatment groups. A number of lysophospholipids, indicative of bacterial and host cell membrane lyses, were identified in the purulent materials. In conclusion, to our knowledge this is the first report on the metabolome of liver abscess purulent materials and several biochemicals identified were related to metabolic activities of the bacterial community, particularly F. necrophorum and T. pyogenes. Biochemicals unique to liver abscesses that appear in the blood may serve as biomarkers and be of diagnostic value to detect liver abscesses of cattle before slaughter.

Abstract
Theileriosis is a hemoparasitic disease that affects a wide range of different animal species and is caused by various species of Theileria. This study aimed to determine the molecular epidemiology of Theileria annulata through microscopy and PCR, in crossbred cattle in some districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. For this study, a total of 384 blood samples were collected from cattle in the Peshawar (n=120), Charsadda (n=94), Nowshera (n=84), and Swabi (n=86) districts. Microscopy and PCR were used to determine the overall prevalence of theileriosis, which was found to be 15.8 and 22.6%, respectively. Theileria annulata was detected in blood samples through PCR in the study area, and the target gene i.e., Tams 1, of positive samples was sequenced. The sequences in the current study revealed high sequence homology (ranging from 96 to 100%) with Tams 1 sequences of neighboring countries present in the NCBI database. Season, breed, age, and sex were found to be important risk factors among the several risk factors examined, whereas, among different clinical manifestations, lymphadenopathy showed a strong association with theileriosis. According to Cohen's kappa and ROC analysis, microscopy was proven to be a fair diagnostic test for detecting theileriosis in cattle, and may be used in combination with molecular techniques for screening a large number of animals.

Abstract
Bovine lymphocyte antigen (BoLA) DRB3 locus in healthy and mastitis affected cattle has been genotyped by a polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphisms (PCR-RLFP) using RsaI restriction enzyme, followed by sequencing. In 130 farm animals, 25 BoLA DRB3 alleles have been detected by PCR-RFLP. Three distinct allelic patterns significantly associated with mastitis in Karan Fries crossbred and Sahiwal indicus cattle have been identified, whereas, four other allelic patterns were significantly high in frequency among healthy animals. Sequencing of RFLP genotypes revealed 25 and 47 alleles among healthy Sahiwal and Karan Fries, respectively, while 17 and 38 patterns observed in mastitis affected Sahiwal and Karan Fries animals, respectively. From Tajima's D-test of neutrality, it was concluded that alleles associated with mastitis were expanding in the population, whereas those of healthy were under contraction. Phylogenetic analysis carried out to delineate the evolutionary relationship of the farm and field animals at DRB3 locus, differentiating allelic patterns into six different clusters. Among the phylogenetic lineages, five patterns DRB3*028:01, DRB3*011:03, DRB3*031:01, DRB3*001:01 and DRB3*043:01, were previously reported, whereas one novel allelic variant was observed in indicus and crossbred cattle. This information will help in further exploring the association between BoLA-DRB3 genetic diversity and disease resistance in distinct cattle breeds, important in designing breeding strategies for increasing the distribution of favorable alleles.

Abstract
Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) challenges intensive dairy production in Ethiopia and implementation of the test and slaughter control strategy is not economically acceptable in the country. Vaccination of cattle with Bacillus Calmette–Guerin (BCG) could be an important adjunct to control, which would require a diagnostic test to differentiate Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis)‐infected and BCG‐vaccinated animals (DIVA role). This study describes an evaluation of a DIVA skin test (DST) that is based on a cocktail (DSTc) or fusion (DSTf) of specific (ESAT‐6, CFP‐10 and Rv3615c) M. bovis proteins in Zebu–Holstein–Friesians crossbred cattle in Ethiopia. The study animals used were 74 calves (35 BCG vaccinated and 39 unvaccinated) aged less than 3 weeks at the start of experiment and 68 naturally infected ‘TB reactor’ cows. Six weeks after vaccination, the 74 calves were tested with the DSTc and the single intradermal cervical comparative tuberculin (SICCT) test. The TB reactor cows were tested with the DSTc and the SICCT test. Reactions to the DSTc were not observed in BCG‐vaccinated and unvaccinated calves, while SICCT test reactions were detected in vaccinated calves. DSTc reactions were detected in 95.6% of the TB reactor cows and single intradermal tuberculin positive reactions were found in 98.2% (95% confidence interval, CI, 92.1–100%). The sensitivity of the DSTc was 95.6% (95% CI, 87.6–99.1%), and significantly (p < .001) higher than the sensitivity (75%, 95% CI, 63.0–84.7%) of the SICCT test at 4 mm cut‐off. DSTf and DSTc reactions were correlated (r = 0.75; 95% CI = 0.53–0.88). In conclusion, the DSTc could differentiate M. bovis‐infected from BCG‐vaccinated cattle in Ethiopia. DST had higher sensitivity than the SICCT test. Hence, the DSTc could be used as a diagnostic tool for bTB if BCG vaccination is implemented for the control of bTB in Ethiopia and other countries.

Abstract
Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is prevalent in intensive dairy farms in Ethiopia. Vaccination could be an alternative control approach given the socio-economic challenges of a test-and-slaughter control strategy. The efficacy of the BCG was evaluated on 40 Holstein-Friesian (HF) and zebu crossbred calves recruited from single intradermal cervical comparative tuberculin (SICCT) test negative herds and randomly allocated into two groups. Twenty-two calves were vaccinated within 2 weeks of age, and 18 were kept as a control. Six weeks post-vaccination, the two groups were exposed and kept mixed with known SICCT test positive cows for 1 year. Immune responses were monitored by interferon gamma (IFN-γ) release assay (IGRA), SICCT test, and antibody assay. Vaccinated calves developed strong responses to the SICCT test at the sixth week post-vaccination, but did not respond to ESAT-6/CFP-10 peptide antigen-based IGRA. During the exposure, IFN-γ response to the specific peptide cocktail [F(2.44, 92.67) = 26.96; p < 0.001] and skin reaction to the specific proteins cocktail [F(1.7, 64.3); p < 0.001] increased progressively in both groups while their antibody responses were low. The prevalence of bTB was 88.9% (95% CI: 65.3–98.6) and 63.6% (95% CI: 40.7–83.8) in the control and vaccinated calves, respectively, based on Mycobacterium bovis isolation, giving a direct protective efficacy estimate of 28.4% (95% CI: −2.7 to 50.1). The proportion of vaccinated calves with lesion was 7.0% (34/484) against 11.4% (45/396) in control calves, representing a 38% (95% CI: 5.8–59.4) reduction of lesion prevalence. Besides, the severity of pathology was significantly lower (Mann–Whitney U-test, p < 0.05) in vaccinated (median score = 2.0, IQR = 0–4.75) than in control (median score = 5, IQR = 3.0–6.25) calves. Moreover, survival from M. bovis infection in vaccinated calves was significantly (log-rank test: χ2 = 6.749, p < 0.01) higher than that of the control calves. In conclusion, the efficacy of BCG was low, but the reduced frequency and severity of lesion in vaccinated calves could suggest its potential role in containing onward transmission.

Abstract
Liver abscesses in feedlot cattle are polymicrobial infections. Culture-based studies have identified Fusobacterium necrophorum as the primary causative agent, but a number of other bacterial species are frequently isolated. The incidence of liver abscesses is highly variable and is affected by a number of factors, including cattle type. Holstein steers raised for beef production have a higher incidence than crossbred feedlot cattle. Tylosin is the commonly used antimicrobial feed additive to reduce the incidence of liver abscesses. The objective of this study was to utilize 16S ribosomal RNA amplicon sequence analyses to analyze the bacterial community composition of purulent material of liver abscesses of crossbred cattle (n = 24) and Holstein steers (n = 24), each fed finishing diet with or without tylosin. DNA was extracted and the V3 and V4 regions of the 16S rRNA gene were amplified, sequenced, and analyzed. The minimum, mean, and maximum sequence reads per sample were 996, 177,070, and 877,770, respectively, across all the liver abscess samples. Sequence analyses identified 5 phyla, 14 families, 98 genera, and 102 amplicon sequence variants (ASV) in the 4 treatment groups. The dominant phyla identified were Fusobacteria (52% of total reads) and Proteobacteria (33%). Of the top 25 genera identified, 17 genera were Gram negative and 8 were Gram positive. The top 3 genera, which accounted for 75% of the total reads, in the order of abundance, were Fusobacterium, Pseudomonas, and Bacteroides. The relative abundance, expressed as percent of total reads, of phyla, family, and genera did not differ (P > 0.05) between the 4 treatment groups. Generic richness and evenness, determined by Shannon-Weiner and Simpson's diversity indices, respectively, did not differ between the groups. The UniFrac distance matrices data revealed no clustering of the ASV indicating variance between the samples within each treatment group. Co-occurrence network analysis at the genus level indicated a strong association of Fusobacterium with 15 other genera, and not all of them have been previously isolated from liver abscesses. In conclusion, the culture-independent method identified the bacterial composition of liver abscesses as predominantly Gram negative and Fusobacterium as the dominant genus, followed by Pseudomonas. The bacterial community composition did not differ between crossbred and Holstein steers fed finishing diets with or without tylosin.

Abstract
Beta 1,4-galactosyltransferase-I gene (B4GALT1) is an important candidate gene for milk performance traits, encodes catalytic part of lactose synthesis. Main objectives of present study is identification of single-nucleotide polymorphism in exon 1 and 2 region of B4GALT1 and to find significant association of genetic variants with milk performance traits in crossbred cattle of Kerala. The study was conducted on two hundred crossbred cattle maintained at various farms of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, India. Genomic DNA was isolated and polymorphism of gene were detected by Single Strand Confirmation Polymorphism. Genotype and allelic frequency were estimated. Chi-square analysis revealed that screened population is under Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. Nucleotide sequence analysis revealed a novel non-synonymous single-nucleotide variation (T94A) in exon 1 and a non-synonymous mutation of T97C in exon 2 of B4GALT1 gene in the screened cattle population. Association analysis of genetic variants was done with milk production traits and major non-genetic factors using fixed models. Different genetic variants of B4GALT1 was significantly associated with 305 days milk yield, lactose, protein percent. Study indicates existence of genetic variability in B4GALT1 gene on crossbred cattle of Kerala and suggests a scope of considering genetic variants of B4GALT1in selection strategies.

Abstract
Vrindavani is an Indian composite cattle breed developed by crossbreeding taurine dairy breeds with native indicine cattle. The constituent breeds were selected for higher milk production and adaptation to the tropical climate. However, the selection response for production and adaptation traits in the Vrindavani genome is not explored. In this study, we provide the first overview of the selection signatures in the Vrindavani genome. A total of 96 Vrindavani cattle were genotyped using the BovineSNP50 BeadChip and the SNP genotype data of its constituent breeds were collected from a public database. Within-breed selection signatures in Vrindavani were investigated using the integrated haplotype score (iHS). The Vrindavani breed was also compared to each of its parental breeds to discover between-population signatures of selection using two approaches, cross-population extended haplotype homozygosity (XP-EHH) and fixation index (FST). We identified 11 common regions detected by more than one method harboring genes such as LRP1B, TNNI3K, APOB, CACNA2D1, FAM110B, and SPATA17 associated with production and adaptation. Overall, our results suggested stronger selective pressure on regions responsible for adaptation compared to milk yield.

Abstract
Heat stress is an important issue in the global dairy industry. In tropical areas, an alternative to overcome heat stress is the use of crossbred animals or synthetic breeds, such as the Girolando. In this study, we performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) and post-GWAS analyses for heat stress in an experimental Gir × Holstein F2 population. Rectal temperature (RT) was measured in heat-stressed F2 animals, and the variation between 2 consecutive RT measurements (ΔRT) was used as the dependent variable. Illumina BovineSNP50v1 BeadChip (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA) and single-SNP approach were used for GWAS. Post-GWAS analyses were performed by gene ontology terms enrichment and gene-transcription factor (TF) networks, generated from enriched TF. The breed origin of marker alleles in the F2 population was assigned using the breed of origin of alleles (BOA) approach. Heritability and repeatability estimates (± standard error) for ΔRT were 0.13 ± 0.08 and 0.29 ± 0.06, respectively. Association analysis revealed 6 SNP significantly associated with ΔRT. Genes involved with biological processes in response to heat stress effects (LIF, OSM, TXNRD2, and DGCR8) were identified as putative candidate genes. After performing the BOA approach, the 10% of F2 animals with the lowest breeding values for ΔRT were classified as low-ΔRT, and the 10% with the highest breeding values for ΔRT were classified as high-ΔRT. On average, 49.4% of low-ΔRT animals had 2 alleles from the Holstein breed (HH), and 39% had both alleles from the Gir breed (GG). In high-ΔRT animals, the average proportion of animals for HH and GG were 1.4 and 50.2%, respectively. This study allowed the identification of candidate genes for ΔRT in Gir × Holstein crossbred animals. According to the BOA approach, Holstein breed alleles could be associated with better response to heat stress effects, which could be explained by the fact that Holstein animals are more affected by heat stress than Gir animals and thus require a genetic architecture to defend the body from the deleterious effects of heat stress. Future studies can provide further knowledge to uncover the genetic architecture underlying heat stress in crossbred cattle.

Abstract
Multiple studies have investigated selection signatures in domestic cattle and other species. However, there is a dearth of information about the response to selection in genomes of highly admixed crossbred cattle in relation to production and adaptation to tropical environments. In this study, we evaluated 839 admixed crossbred cows sampled from two major dairy regions in Tanzania namely Rungwe and Lushoto districts, in order to understand their genetic architecture and detect genomic regions showing preferential selection. Animals were genotyped at 150,000 SNP loci using the Geneseek Genomic Profiler (GGP) High Density (HD) SNP array. Population structure analysis showed a large within-population genetic diversity in the study animals with a high degree of variation in admixture ranging between 7 and 100% taurine genes (dairyness) of mostly Holstein and Friesian ancestry. We explored evidence of selection signatures using three statistical methods (iHS, XP-EHH, and pcadapt). Selection signature analysis identified 108 candidate selection regions in the study population. Annotation of these regions yielded interesting genes potentially under strong positive selection including ABCG2, ABCC2, XKR4, LYN, TGS1, TOX, HERC6, KIT, PLAG1, CHCHD7, NCAPG, and LCORL that are involved in multiple biological pathways underlying production and adaptation processes. Several candidate selection regions showed an excess of African taurine ancestral allele dosage. Our results provide further useful insight into potential selective sweeps in the genome of admixed cattle with possible adaptive and productive importance. Further investigations will be necessary to better characterize these candidate regions with respect to their functional significance to tropical adaptations for dairy cattle.

Abstract
Aim:: A comparative study was conducted on crossbred cattle and buffaloes to investigate the effect of feeding high and low roughage total mixed ration (TMR) diets on rumen metabolites and enzymatic profiles. Materials and Methods:: Three rumen-fistulated crossbred cattle and buffalo were randomly assigned as per 3×3 switch over design for 21-days. Three TMR diets consisting of concentrate mixture, wheat straw and green maize fodder in the ratios of (T1) 60:20:20, (T2) 40:30:30, and (T3) 20:40:40, respectively, were fed to the animals ad libitum. Rumen liquor samples were collected at 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 h post feeding for the estimation of rumen biochemical parameters on 2 consecutive days in each trial. Results:: The lactic acid concentration and pH value were comparable in both species and treatments. Feed intake (99.77±2.51 g/kg body weight), ruminal ammonia nitrogen, and total nitrogen were significantly (p<0.05) higher in buffalo and in treatment group fed with high concentrate diet. Production of total volatile fatty acids (VFAs) was non-significant (p>0.05) among treatments and significantly (p<0.05) greater in crossbred cattle than buffaloes. Molar proportions of individual VFAs propionate (C3), propionate:butyrate (C3:C4), and (acetate+butyrate):propionate ([C2+C4]:C3) ratio in both crossbred cattle and buffalo were not affected by high or low roughage diet, but percentage of acetate and butyrate varied significantly (p<0.05) among treatment groups. Activities of microbial enzymes were comparable among species and different treatment groups. A total number of rumen protozoa were significantly (p<0.05) higher in crossbred cattle than buffaloes along with significantly (p<0.05) higher population in animal fed with high concentrate diet (T1). Conclusion:: Rumen microbial population and fermentation depend on constituents of the treatment diet. However, microbial enzyme activity remains similar among species and different treatments. High concentrate diet increases number of rumen protozoa, and the number is higher in crossbred cattle than buffaloes.

Abstract
AIM The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of genetic and non-genetic factors and estimate the genetic parameter for gestation length (GL) of Jersey crossbred cattle. MATERIALS AND METHODS The data included the 986 parturition records on Jersey crossbred cattle maintained at the Eastern Regional Station of ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Kalyani, West Bengal, India during 36 years (1978-2013). The data were analyzed applying mixed model least square technique considering the fixed effects of genetic group, season of calving, period of calving, parity of animal, birth weight, and sex of calf born from animal. The effect of sire was included as a random effect in the model. RESULTS The genetic group of animal, season of calving, parity of animal, and birth weight of calf born were found to be a significant source of variation in the GL, whereas the period of calving and sex of calf did not affect this trait. Cows with <50% and >62.5% Jersey inheritance had the shortest and longest GLs, respectively. Cows calved in summer and rainy season had shorter GL than those calved in the winter season. Older cows in 4(th) parity carried calves for longer days than the cows in 1(st) parity. The increase in calf birth weight significantly (p<0.01) contributed to a linear increase in GL value in this study. The heritability estimate of GL was 0.24±0.08. CONCLUSION It can be concluded that selection for lower GL without distressing future growth of calf can be used to reduce calving difficulty, but a very small standard deviation of GL limits the benefit. Moreover, more accurate prediction of calving date will help in better management and health care of pregnant animals.

Abstract
Dairy cattle in East Africa imported from the U.S. and Europe have been adapted to new environments. In small local farms, cattle have generally been maintained by crossbreeding that could increase survivability under a severe environment. Eventually, genomic ancestry of a specific breed will be nearly fixed in genomic regions of local breeds or crossbreds when it is advantageous for survival or production in harsh environments. To examine this situation, 25 Friesians and 162 local cattle produced by crossbreeding of dairy breeds in Kenya were sampled and genotyped using 50K SNPs. Using principal component analysis (PCA), the admixed local cattle were found to consist of several imported breeds, including Guernsey, Norwegian Red, and Holstein. To infer the influence of parental breeds on genomic regions, local ancestry mapping was performed based on the similarity of haplotypes. As a consequence, it appears that no genomic region has been under the complete influence of a specific parental breed. Nonetheless, the ancestry of Holstein-Friesians was substantial in most genomic regions (>80%). Furthermore, we examined the frequency of the most common haplotypes from parental breeds that have changed substantially in Kenyan crossbreds during admixture. The frequency of these haplotypes from parental breeds, which were likely to be selected in temperate regions, has deviated considerably from expected frequency in 11 genomic regions. Additionally, extended haplotype homozygosity (EHH) based methods were applied to identify the regions responding to recent selection in crossbreds, called candidate regions, resulting in seven regions that appeared to be affected by Holstein-Friesians. However, some signatures of selection were less dependent on Holsteins-Friesians, suggesting evidence of adaptation in East Africa. The analysis of local ancestry is a useful approach to understand the detailed genomic structure and may reveal regions of the genome required for specialized adaptation when combined with methods for searching for the recent changes of haplotype frequency in an admixed population.

Abstract
The objectives of this study were to 1) compare four models for breeding value prediction using genomic or pedigree information and 2) evaluate the impact of fixed effects that account for family structure. Comparisons were made in a Nellore-Angus population comprising F2, F3 and half-siblings to embryo transfer F2 calves with records for overall temperament at weaning (TEMP; n = 769) and Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF; n = 387). After quality control, there were 34,913 whole genome SNP markers remaining. Bayesian methods employed were BayesB (π̃ = 0.995 or 0.997 for WBSF or TEMP, respectively) and BayesC (π = 0 and π̃), where π̃ is the ideal proportion of markers not included. Direct genomic values (DGV) from single trait Bayesian analyses were compared to conventional pedigree-based animal model breeding values. Numerically, BayesC procedures (using π̃) had the highest accuracy of all models for WBSF and TEMP (ρ̂gĝ = 0.843 and 0.923, respectively), but BayesB had the least bias (regression of performance on prediction closest to 1, β̂y,x = 2.886 and 1.755, respectively). Accounting for family structure decreased accuracy and increased bias in prediction of DGV indicating a detrimental impact when used in these prediction methods that simultaneously fit many markers.
