Abstract
AIM Although lipoproteins are well-established risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality, conventional measurements failed to identify lipoprotein particle sizes. This study aimed to investigate associations of lipoprotein subclasses categorized by particle sizes with risk of all-cause and CVD mortality in individuals with type 2 diabetes. METHODS This study included 6575 individuals with type 2 diabetes from the UK Biobank. Concentrations of very low-, low-, intermediate- and high-density lipoprotein [very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), intermediate-density lipoprotein and high-density lipoprotein (HDL)] particles in 14 subclasses and lipid constituents within each subclass were measured by quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance. Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional-hazard regression models were used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) for per standard deviation increment of log-transformed lipoprotein subclasses with risk of mortality. All p-values were adjusted by the false discovery rate method. RESULTS During a median follow-up of 11.4 years, 943 deaths were documented, including 310 CVD deaths. Small HDL particles were inversely associated with CVD mortality, with HR (95% CI) of 0.78 (0.69, 0.87), whereas very large and large HDL particles were positively associated with CVD mortality with HR (95% CI) of 1.28 (1.12, 1.45) and 1.19 (1.05, 1.35), respectively. A similar pattern was observed for all-cause mortality [small HDL particle (HR, 95% CI): 0.79, 0.74-0.85; large HDL particle: 1.15, 1.07-1.24; very large HDL particle: 1.26, 1.17-1.36]. For VLDL and LDL, very small VLDL particle was positively, while medium LDL particle was inversely associated with all-cause mortality, but not associated with CVD mortality. The pattern of association with all-cause and CVD mortality for cholesterol and triglyceride within lipoprotein particles was similar to those for lipoprotein particles themselves. CONCLUSIONS The associations between lipoprotein particles, particularly HDL particles, with all-cause and CVD mortality among patients with type 2 diabetes were significantly varied by particle sizes, highlighting the importance of particle size as a lipoprotein metric in mortality risk discrimination.

Abstract
A flexible, non-enzymatic glucose sensor was developed and tested on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate. The sensor's design involved printing Ag (silver) as the electrode and utilizing mixtures of either gold-copper oxide-modified reduced graphene oxide (Au-CuO-rGO) or gold-copper oxide-modified reduced graphene oxide-multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Au-CuO-rGO-MWCNTs) as the carrier materials. A one-pot synthesis method was employed to create a nanocomposite material, consisting of Au-CuO-rGO mixtures, which was then printed onto pre-prepared flexible electrodes. The impact of different weight ratios of MWCNTs (0~75 wt%) as a substitute for rGO was also investigated on the sensing characteristics of Au-CuO-rGO-MWCNTs glucose sensors. The fabricated electrodes underwent various material analyses, and their sensing properties for glucose in a glucose solution were measured using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The LSV measurement results showed that increasing the proportion of MWCNTs improved the sensor's sensitivity for detecting low concentrations of glucose. However, it also led to a significant decrease in the upper detection limit for high-glucose concentrations. Remarkably, the research findings revealed that the electrode containing 60 wt% MWCNTs demonstrated excellent sensitivity and stability in detecting low concentrations of glucose. At the lowest concentration of 0.1 μM glucose, the nanocomposites with 75 wt% MWCNTs showed the highest oxidation peak current, approximately 5.9 μA. On the other hand, the electrode without addition of MWCNTs displayed the highest detection limit (approximately 1 mM) and an oxidation peak current of about 8.1 μA at 1 mM of glucose concentration.

Abstract
This descriptive research studied the depression level of patients with diabetes type II at diabetic clinics in Samut Prakarn, and, identified the causes of severe depression in patients with type 2. There were 209 participants enrolled in the study. The samples were selected by opportunistic sampling technique. The data were collected from May 2013 to July 2013, using the CES-D questionnaire, with Cronbach's coefficient alpha 0.82 and guidelines for interviews. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. RESEARCH RESULTS 1. 66 percent of participants had a depression score at a low level. 2. The CES-D showed that, 44 percent were unhappy and 38 percent did not feel that their life was enjoyable. 29 percent felt no hope for the future, 5.6 percent were easily upset and 8.3 percent suffered from insomnia and severe depression. 3. Half of the participants mentioned that troubled family relationships was a main cause of their depression, 42.9 percents felt worrying about their illness, 35.3 percent blamed over work and almost 15 percent identified loss of love as the cause of depression.
