Abstract
The high contact resistance of transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD)-based devices is receiving considerable attention due to its limitation on electronic performance. The mechanism of Fermi level (EF) pinning, which causes the high contact resistance, is not thoroughly understood to date. In this study, the metal (Ni and Ag)/Mo-TMD surfaces and interfaces are characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, and density functional theory systematically. Ni and Ag form covalent and van der Waals (vdW) interfaces on Mo-TMDs, respectively. Imperfections are detected on Mo-TMDs, which lead to electronic and spatial variations. Gap states appear after the adsorption of single and two metal atoms on Mo-TMDs. The combination of the interface reaction type (covalent or vdW), the imperfection variability of the TMD materials, and the gap states induced by contact metals with different weights are concluded to be the origins of EF pinning.

Self-Organized Phase-Composite Nanocrystal Solids with Superior Charge Transport. ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES 2023; 15:53835-53846. Abstract
Interparticle electronic coupling is essential for self-assembled colloidal nanocrystal (NC) solid semiconductors to fulfill their wide-tunable electrical and optoelectrical properties, but it has been limited by disorders. Here, a disorder-tolerant coupling approach is presented by synthesizing self-organized NC solids based on amorphous/nanocrystalline phase-composites. The ZnO amorphous matrix, which infills the space between the less regularly ordered ZnO NCs, enables robust electronic coupling between neighboring NCs via the resonant wave function overlap, leading to a disorder-tolerant resonant conducting state. Field-effect transistors based on phase-composite semiconductors show delocalized band-like transport with superior field-effect mobility values (∼75 cm2 V-1 s-1), compared to amorphous or polycrystalline ZnO semiconductors. Furthermore, the broad amorphous matrix can mitigate interfacial defects between crystalline regions through atomic relaxation, in contrast to narrow grain boundaries in polycrystalline films, resulting in a significantly low interface trap density for phase-composite NC solids. Density function theory calculations and quantum transport simulations using the nonequilibrium Green's function formalism elucidate the origins of superior and highly disorder-tolerant electron transport in phase-composite NC solids. Our report introduces a new class of NC solids complementary to the colloidal counterpart and will be applicable to CMOS-compatible emerging device technologies.

Abstract
We present the first comprehensive tests of the universality of the light leptons in the angular distributions of semileptonic B^{0}-meson decays to charged spin-1 charmed mesons. We measure five angular-asymmetry observables as functions of the decay recoil that are sensitive to lepton-universality-violating contributions. We use events where one neutral B is fully reconstructed in ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] decays in data corresponding to 189 fb^{-1} integrated luminosity from electron-positron collisions collected with the Belle II detector. We find no significant deviation from the standard model expectations.

Abstract
We measure the lifetime of the D_{s}^{+} meson using a data sample of 207 fb^{-1} collected by the Belle II experiment running at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The lifetime is determined by fitting the decay-time distribution of a sample of 116×10^{3} D_{s}^{+}→ϕπ^{+} decays. Our result is τ_{D_{s}^{+}}=(499.5±1.7±0.9) fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This result is significantly more precise than previous measurements.

Origins of Fermi Level Pinning for Ni and Ag Metal Contacts on Tungsten Dichalcogenides. ACS NANO 2023; 17:20353-20365. Abstract
Tungsten transition metal dichalcogenides (W-TMDs) are intriguing due to their properties and potential for application in next-generation electronic devices. However, strong Fermi level (EF) pinning manifests at the metal/W-TMD interfaces, which could tremendously restrain the carrier injection into the channel. In this work, we illustrate the origins of EF pinning for Ni and Ag contacts on W-TMDs by considering interface chemistry, band alignment, impurities, and imperfections of W-TMDs, contact metal adsorption mechanism, and the resultant electronic structure. We conclude that the origins of EF pinning at a covalent contact metal/W-TMD interface, such as Ni/W-TMDs, can be attributed to defects, impurities, and interface reaction products. In contrast, for a van der Waals contact metal/TMD system such as Ag/W-TMDs, the primary factor responsible for EF pinning is the electronic modification of the TMDs resulting from the defects and impurities with the minor impact of metal-induced gap states. The potential strategies for carefully engineering the metal deposition approach are also discussed. This work unveils the origins of EF pinning at metal/TMD interfaces experimentally and theoretically and provides guidance on further enhancing and improving the device performance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The development of carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacilli (CR-GNB) is largely favoured by indiscriminate and prolonged carbapenem use, which is a significant contributing factor. AIM To evaluate the impact of two carbapenem antibiotic stewardship programme interventions on both carbapenem prescriptions and the clinical isolation rates of CR-GNBs, using interrupted time-series analysis. METHODS A time-series analysis was performed using data for carbapenem usage from a tertiary hospital in South Korea from January 2017 to July 2022. Two carbapenem antibiotic stewardship programme interventions were implemented sequentially: (i) a prospective audit and feedback (PAF) from November 2018 to April 2020 (intervention 1), and (ii) preauthorization from May 2020 to August 2020 (intervention 2). Monthly carbapenem usage and incidence of CR-GNB before and after each intervention were compared using an autoregressive integrated moving average model. FINDINGS Implementation of PAF resulted in a significant reduction in carbapenem consumption, followed by an additional decrease after the preauthorization was implemented. The incidence of carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae increased after intervention 1, but there was a significant change from an increasing trend to a stationary trend after intervention 2. The incidence of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which had increased during the baseline period, became stationary after intervention 1. A significant decrease was observed in the incidence of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii during the implementation of intervention 1 and 2. CONCLUSION This study emphasizes the importance of adopting comprehensive antibiotic management and rigorous infection control to prevent infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Abstract
We report the first search for a nonstandard-model resonance decaying into τ pairs in e^{+}e^{-}→μ^{+}μ^{-}τ^{+}τ^{-} events in the 3.6-10 GeV/c^{2} mass range. We use a 62.8 fb^{-1} sample of e^{+}e^{-} collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. The analysis probes three different models predicting a spin-1 particle coupling only to the heavier lepton families, a Higgs-like spin-0 particle that couples preferentially to charged leptons (leptophilic scalar), and an axionlike particle, respectively. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at 90% confidence level on the product of cross section and branching fraction into τ pairs, ranging from 0.7 to 24 fb, and on the couplings of these processes. We obtain world-leading constraints on the couplings for the leptophilic scalar model for masses above 6.5 GeV/c^{2} and for the axionlike particle model over the entire mass range.

Suppressing Dendrite Growth and Side Reactions via Mechanically Robust Laponite-Based Electrolyte Membranes for Ultrastable Aqueous Zinc-Ion Batteries. ACS NANO 2023. Abstract
The development of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) faces significant challenges because of water-induced side reactions arising from the high water activity in aqueous electrolytes. Herein, a quasi-solid-state electrolyte membrane with low water activity is designed based on a laponite (LP) nanoclay for separator-free AZIBs. The mechanically robust LP-based membrane can perform simultaneously as a separator and a quasi-solid-state electrolyte to inhibit dendrite growth and water-induced side reactions at the Zn/electrolyte interface. A combination of density functional theory calculations, theoretical analyses, and experiments ascertains that the water activities associated with self-dissociation, byproduct formation, and electrochemical decomposition could be substantially suppressed when the water molecules are absorbed by LP. This could be attributed to the high water adsorption and hydration capabilities of LP nanocrystals, resulting from the strong Coulombic and hydrogen-binding interactions between water and LP. Most importantly, the separator-free AZIBs exhibit high capacity retention rates of 94.10% after 2,000 cycles at 1 A/g and 86.32% after 10,000 cycles at 3 A/g, along with enhanced durability and record-low voltage decay rates over a 60-day storage period. This work provides a fundamental understanding of water activity and demonstrates that LP nanoclay is promising for ultrastable separator-free AZIBs for practical energy storage applications.

First Measurement of the Michel Parameter ξ^{'} in the τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} Decay at Belle. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:021801. Abstract
We report the first measurement of the Michel parameter ξ^{'} in the τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} decay with a new method proposed just recently. The measurement is based on the reconstruction of the τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} events with subsequent muon decay in flight in the Belle central drift chamber. The analyzed data sample of 988 fb^{-1} collected by the Belle detector corresponds to approximately 912×10^{6} τ^{+}τ^{-} pairs. We measure ξ^{'}=0.22±0.94(stat)±0.42(syst), which is in agreement with the standard model prediction of ξ^{'}=1. Statistical uncertainty dominates in this study, being a limiting factor, while systematic uncertainty is well under control. Our analysis proved the practicability of this promising method and its prospects for further precise measurement in future experiments.

Abstract
The L_{μ}-L_{τ} extension of the standard model predicts the existence of a lepton-flavor-universality-violating Z^{'} boson that couples only to the heavier lepton families. We search for such a Z^{'} through its invisible decay in the process e^{+}e^{-}→μ^{+}μ^{-}Z^{'}. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019-2020, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 79.7 fb^{-1}. We find no excess over the expected standard-model background. We set 90%-confidence-level upper limits on the cross section for this process as well as on the coupling of the model, which ranges from 3×10^{-3} at low Z^{'} masses to 1 at Z^{'} masses of 8 GeV/c^{2}.

Abstract
We search for lepton-flavor-violating τ^{-}→e^{-}α and τ^{-}→μ^{-}α decays, where α is an invisible spin-0 boson. The search uses electron-positron collisions at 10.58 GeV center-of-mass energy with an integrated luminosity of 62.8 fb^{-1}, produced by the SuperKEKB collider and collected with the Belle II detector. We search for an excess in the lepton-energy spectrum of the known τ^{-}→e^{-}ν[over ¯]_{e}ν_{τ} and τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} decays. We report 95% confidence-level upper limits on the branching-fraction ratio B(τ^{-}→e^{-}α)/B(τ^{-}→e^{-}ν[over ¯]_{e}ν_{τ}) in the range (1.1-9.7)×10^{-3} and on B(τ^{-}→μ^{-}α)/B(τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ}) in the range (0.7-12.2)×10^{-3} for α masses between 0 and 1.6 GeV/c^{2}. These results provide the most stringent bounds on invisible boson production from τ decays.

Vancouver call for action to strengthen expertise in radiological protection worldwide. RADIATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOPHYSICS 2023; 62:175-180. Abstract
Ionising radiation has been used for over a century for peaceful purposes, revolutionising health care and promoting well-being through its application in industry, science, and medicine. For almost as long, the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has promoted understanding of health and environmental risks of ionising radiation and developed a protection system that enables the safe use of ionising radiation in justified and beneficial practices, providing protection from all sources of radiation. However, we are concerned that a shortage of investment in training, education, research, and infrastructure seen in many sectors and countries may compromise society's ability to properly manage radiation risks, leading to unjustified exposure to or unwarranted fear of radiation, impacting the physical, mental, and social well-being of our peoples. This could unduly limit the potential for research and development in new radiation technologies (healthcare, energy, and the environment) for beneficial purposes. ICRP therefore calls for action to strengthen expertise in radiological protection worldwide through: (1) National governments and funding agencies strengthening resources for radiological protection research allocated by governments and international organisations, (2) National research laboratories and other institutions launching and sustaining long-term research programmes, (3) Universities developing undergraduate and graduate university programmes and making students aware of job opportunities in radiation-related fields, (4) Using plain language when interacting with the public and decision makers about radiological protection, and (5) Fostering general awareness of proper uses of radiation and radiological protection through education and training of information multipliers. The draft call was discussed with international organisations in formal relations with ICRP in October 2022 at the European Radiation Protection Week in Estoril, Portugal, and the final call announced at the 6th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection of ICRP in November 2022 in Vancouver, Canada.

Abstract
Using the data sample of 980 fb^{-1} collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider, we present the results of an investigation of the Λπ^{+} and Λπ^{-} invariant mass distributions looking for substructure in the decay Λ_{c}^{+}→Λπ^{+}π^{+}π^{-}. We find a significant signal in each mass distribution. When interpreted as resonances, we find for the Λπ^{+} (Λπ^{-}) combination a mass of 1434.3±0.6(stat)±0.9(syst) MeV/c^{2} [1438.5±0.9(stat)±2.5(syst) MeV/c^{2}], an intrinsic width of 11.5±2.8(stat)±5.3(syst) MeV/c^{2} [33.0±7.5(stat)±23.6(syst) MeV/c^{2}] with a significance of 7.5σ (6.2σ). As these two signals are very close to the K[over ¯]N threshold, we also investigate the possibility of a K[over ¯]N cusp, and find that we cannot discriminate between these two interpretations due to the limited size of the data sample.

Effect of Lithium Substitution Ratio of Polymeric Binders on Interfacial Conduction within All-Solid-State Battery Anodes. ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES 2023; 15:13131-13143. Abstract
Problematic issues with electrically inert binders have been less serious in the conventional lithium-ion batteries by virtue of permeable liquid electrolytes (LEs) for ionic connection and/or carbonaceous additives for electronic connection in the electrodes. Contrary to electron-conductive binders used to maximize an active loading level, the development of ion-conductive binders has been lacking owing to the LE-filled electrode configuration. Herein, we represent a tactical strategy for improving the interfacial Li+ conduction in all-solid-state electrolyte-free graphite (EFG) electrodes where the solid electrolytes are entirely excluded, using lithium-substitution-modulated (LSM) binders. Finely tuning a lithium substitution ratio, a conductive LSM-carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) binder is prepared from a controlled direct Na+/Li+ exchange reaction without a hazardous acid involvement. The EFG electrode employing LSM with a maximum degree of substitution of lithium (DSLi) of ∼68% in our study shows a considerably higher rate capability of 1.05 mA h cm-2 at 1 C and a capacity retention of ∼61.9% after 200 cycles at 0.5 C than those using sodium-CMC (Na-CMC) (0.78 mA h cm-2, ∼49.5%) and LSM with ∼35% lithium substitution (0.93 mA h cm-2, ∼55.4%). More importantly, the correlation between the phase transition near the bottom region of the EFG electrode and the state of charge (SOC) is systematically investigated, clarifying that the improvement of the interfacial conduction is proportional to the DSLi of the CMC binders. Theoretical calculations combined with experimental results further verify that creating the continuous interface through abundant pathways for mobile ions using the Li+-conductive binder is the enhancement mechanism of the interfacial conduction in the EFG electrode, mitigating serious charge transfer resistance.

We report the first observation of ωχ_{bJ}(1P) signals at sqrt[s]=10.745 GeV. By combining Belle II data with Belle results at sqrt[s]=10.867 GeV, we find energy dependencies of the Born cross sections for e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{b1,b2}(1P) to be consistent with the shape of the ϒ(10753) state. These data indicate that the internal structures of the ϒ(10753) and ϒ(10860) states may differ. Including data at sqrt[s]=10.653 GeV, we also search for the bottomonium equivalent of the X(3872) state decaying into ωϒ(1S). No significant signal is observed for masses between 10.45 and 10.65 GeV/c^{2}.

Abstract
An absolute measurement of the Λ_{c}^{+} lifetime is reported using Λ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+} decays in events reconstructed from data collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. The total integrated luminosity of the data sample, which was collected at center-of-mass energies at or near the ϒ(4S) resonance, is 207.2 fb^{-1}. The result, τ(Λ_{c}^{+})=203.20±0.89±0.77 fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic, is the most precise measurement to date and is consistent with previous determinations.

Abstract
The dark photon A^{'} and the dark Higgs boson h^{'} are hypothetical particles predicted in many dark sector models. We search for the simultaneous production of A^{'} and h^{'} in the dark Higgsstrahlung process e^{+}e^{-}→A^{'}h^{'} with A^{'}→μ^{+}μ^{-} and h^{'} invisible in electron-positron collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV in data collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019. With an integrated luminosity of 8.34 fb^{-1}, we observe no evidence for signal. We obtain exclusion limits at 90% Bayesian credibility in the range of 1.7-5.0 fb on the cross section and in the range of 1.7×10^{-8}-200×10^{-8} on the effective coupling ϵ^{2}×α_{D} for the A^{'} mass in the range of 4.0 GeV/c^{2}<M_{A^{'}}<9.7 GeV/c^{2} and for the h^{'} mass M_{h^{'}}<M_{A^{'}}, where ϵ is the mixing strength between the standard model and the dark photon and α_{D} is the coupling of the dark photon to the dark Higgs boson. Our limits are the first in this mass range.

Abstract
PURPOSE Laparoscopic total extra-peritoneal (TEP) inguinal hernia repair is usually performed under general anesthesia (GA) for muscle relaxation. However, TEP hernia repair may be reluctant in high-risk patients of GA. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of the TEP under GA and local anesthesia (LA). METHODS We retrospectively analyzed patients with inguinal hernia who underwent TEP under GA or LA in a single center from December 2016 to May 2018. The outcomes, such as demographics, duration of surgery, length of hospital stay, visual analog scale (VAS), and postoperative complications, were compared in each group. RESULTS Seventy-six patients with inguinal hernia underwent TEP under GA (n = 52) or LA (n = 24). Total operation time (mean ± standard deviation; GA, 111.6 ± 23.0 min; LA, 76.3 ± 18.0 min; p < 0.001) and length of hospital stay (GA, 38.3 ± 11.6 min; LA, 30.3 ± 15.6 min; p < 0.014) were shorter in LA group compared to GA group. There were no significant differences in postoperative VAS (1 h, p = 0.247; 4 h, p = 0.086; 12 h, p = 0.469; 24 h, p = 0.411), postoperative adverse effects (vomiting, p = 0.570; urinary retention, p = 0.214; headache, p = 0.494), and postoperative complications (seroma, p = 0.348; scrotal edema, p = 0.178; recurrence, p = 0.822) between LA group and GA group. CONCLUSION Compared with GA, there were no differences in postoperative pain and complications in patients who underwent TEP hernia repair under LA. Furthermore, in LA group, total operation time and length of hospital stay were shortened.

Evidence of a New Excited Charmed Baryon Decaying to Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{±}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:031901. Abstract
We present the study of B[over ¯]^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{±}p[over ¯] decays based on 772×10^{6} BB[over ¯] events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} candidates are reconstructed via their decay to Λ_{c}^{+}π^{∓} and Λ_{c}^{+} decays to pK^{-}π^{+}, pK_{S}^{0}, and Λπ^{+} final states. The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be B(B[over ¯]^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+}p[over ¯])=(1.09±0.06±0.07)×10^{-4} and B(B[over ¯]^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-}p[over ¯])=(1.84±0.11±0.12)×10^{-4}, which are consistent with the world average values with improved precision. A new structure is found in the M_{Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{±}} spectrum with a significance of 4.2σ including systematic uncertainty. The structure is possibly an excited Λ_{c}^{+} and is tentatively named Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}. Its mass and width are measured to be (2913.8±5.6±3.8) MeV/c^{2} and (51.8±20.0±18.8) MeV, respectively. The products of branching fractions for the Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} are measured to be B(B[over ¯]^{0}→Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}p[over ¯])×B(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+})=(9.5±3.6±1.6)×10^{-6} and B(B[over ¯]^{0}→Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}p[over ¯])×B(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-})=(1.24±0.35±0.10)×10^{-5}. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Abstract
High drive current is a critical performance parameter in semiconductor devices for high-speed, low-power logic applications or high-efficiency, high-power, high-speed radio frequency (RF) analogue applications. In this work, we demonstrate an In2O3 transistor grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) at back-end-of-line (BEOL) compatible temperatures with a record high drain current in planar FET, exceeding 10 A/mm, the performance of which is 2-3 times better than all known transistors with semiconductor channels. A high transconductance reaches 4 S/mm, recorded among all transistors with a planar structure. Planar FETs working ballistically or quasi-ballistically are exploited as one of the simplest platforms to investigate the intrinsic transport properties. It is found experimentally and theoretically that a high carrier density and high electron velocity both contribute to this high on-state performance in ALD In2O3 transistors, which is made possible by the high-quality oxide/oxide interface, the metal-like charge-neutrality-level (CNL) alignment, and the high band velocities induced by the low density-of-state (DOS). Experimental Hall, I-V, and split C-V measurements at room temperature confirm a high carrier density of up to 6-7 × 1013 /cm2 and a high velocity of about 107 cm/s, well-supported by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The simultaneous demonstration of such high carrier concentration and average band velocity is enabled by the exploitation of the ultrafast pulse scheme and heat dissipation engineering.

Abstract
Discovery of ferroelectricity in HfO2 has sparked a lot of interest in its use in memory and logic due to its CMOS compatibility and scalability. Devices that use ferroelectric HfO2 are being investigated; for example, the ferroelectric field-effect transistor (FEFET) is one of the leading candidates for next generation memory technology, due to its area, energy efficiency and fast operation. In an FEFET, a ferroelectric layer is deposited on Si, with an SiO2 layer of ∼1 nm thickness inevitably forming at the interface. This interfacial layer (IL) increases the gate voltage required to switch the polarization and write into the memory device, thereby increasing the energy required to operate FEFETs, and makes the technology incompatible with logic circuits. In this work, it is shown that a Pt/Ti/thin TiN gate electrode in a ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 based metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) structure can remotely scavenge oxygen from the IL, thinning it down to ∼0.5 nm. This IL reduction significantly reduces the ferroelectric polarization switching voltage with a ∼2× concomitant increase in the remnant polarization and a ∼3× increase in the abruptness of polarization switching consistent with density functional theory (DFT) calculations modeling the role of the IL layer in the gate stack electrostatics. The large increase in remnant polarization and abruptness of polarization switching are consistent with the oxygen diffusion in the scavenging process reducing oxygen vacancies in the HZO layer, thereby depinning the polarization of some of the HZO grains.

Abstract
Nanoscale polycrystalline thin-film heterostructures are central to microelectronics, for example, metals used as interconnects and high-K oxides used in dynamic random-access memories (DRAMs). The polycrystalline microstructure and overall functional response therein are often dominated by the underlying substrate or layer, which, however, is poorly understood due to the difficulty of characterizing microstructural correlations at a statistically meaningful scale. Here, an automated, high-throughput method, based on the nanobeam electron diffraction technique, is introduced to investigate orientational relations and correlations between crystallinity of materials in polycrystalline heterostructures over a length scale of microns, containing several hundred individual grains. This technique is employed to perform an atomic-scale investigation of the prevalent near-coincident site epitaxy in nanocrystalline ZrO2 heterostructures, the workhorse system in DRAM technology. The power of this analysis is demonstrated by answering a puzzling question: why does polycrystalline ZrO2 transform dramatically from being antiferroelectric on polycrystalline TiN/Si to ferroelectric on amorphous SiO2/Si?

Abstract
DUNE is a dual-site experiment for long-baseline neutrino oscillation studies, neutrino astrophysics and nucleon decay searches. ProtoDUNE Dual Phase (DP) is a 6 × 6 × 6 m 3 liquid argon time-projection-chamber (LArTPC) that recorded cosmic-muon data at the CERN Neutrino Platform in 2019-2020 as a prototype of the DUNE Far Detector. Charged particles propagating through the LArTPC produce ionization and scintillation light. The scintillation light signal in these detectors can provide the trigger for non-beam events. In addition, it adds precise timing capabilities and improves the calorimetry measurements. In ProtoDUNE-DP, scintillation and electroluminescence light produced by cosmic muons in the LArTPC is collected by photomultiplier tubes placed up to 7 m away from the ionizing track. In this paper, the ProtoDUNE-DP photon detection system performance is evaluated with a particular focus on the different wavelength shifters, such as PEN and TPB, and the use of Xe-doped LAr, considering its future use in giant LArTPCs. The scintillation light production and propagation processes are analyzed and a comparison of simulation to data is performed, improving understanding of the liquid argon properties.

Abstract
Stretching a coiled carbon nanotube (CNT) yarn can provide large, reversible electrochemical capacitance changes, which convert mechanical energy to electricity. Here, it is shown that the performance of these "twistron" harvesters can be increased by optimizing the alignment of precursor CNT forests, plastically stretching the precursor twisted yarn, applying much higher tensile loads during precoiling twist than for coiling, using electrothermal pulse annealing under tension, and incorporating reduced graphene oxide nanoplates. The peak output power for a 1 and a 30 Hz sinusoidal deformation are 0.73 and 3.19 kW kg-1 , respectively, which are 24- and 13-fold that of previous twistron harvesters at these respective frequencies. This performance at 30 Hz is over 12-fold that of other prior-art mechanical energy harvesters for frequencies between 0.1 and 600 Hz. The maximum energy conversion efficiency is 7.2-fold that for previous twistrons. Twistron anode and cathode yarn arrays are stretched 180° out-of-phase by locating them in the negative and positive compressibility directions of hinged wine-rack frames, thereby doubling the output voltage and reducing the input mechanical energy.

Abstract
First-principles calculations show a reduced energy barrier for polarization switching via a bulk phase transition by doping of hafnium-zirconium oxide (HZO). The tetragonal P42/nmc phase serves as a transition state for polarization switching of the polar orthorhombic Pca21 phase. Due to the high symmetry of the tetragonal phase, dopants can form more energetically favorable local oxygen bonding configurations in the tetragonal phase versus the orthorhombic phase. Significant bond strain is observed in the orthorhombic phase due to the low symmetry of the host crystal structure which decreases the relative stability of the doped orthorhombic phase compared to the doped tetragonal phase, thereby significantly lowering the barrier for switching but slightly affecting the polarization of the orthorhombic phase. Si is a promising dopant for an efficient ferroelectric device with minimal disturbance in the electronic structure parameters. Ge doping is suitable for stabilizing the tetragonal phase which shows a high k value.

Interlayer Engineering of Band Gap and Hole Mobility in p-Type Oxide SnO. ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES 2022; 14:25670-25679. Abstract
The development of high-performance p-type oxides with wide band gap and high hole mobility is critical for the application of oxide semiconductors in back-end-of-line (BEOL) complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices. SnO has been intensively studied as a high-mobility p-type oxide due to its low effective hole mass resulting from the hybridized O-2p/Sn-5s orbital character at the valence band edge. However, SnO has a very small band gap (∼0.7 eV) for practical p-type oxide devices. In this work, we report an engineering method to enhance the band gap and hole mobility in SnO. It is found that both the band gap and the hole mobility of a layer-structured SnO increase with the interlayer stacking spacing change. By exploiting this unique electronic structure feature, we propose expanding the interlayer spacing by interlayer intercalation to engineer the band gap and p-type mobility in SnO. Small molecules like NH3 and CH4 are shown to be capable of expanding the interlayer spacing and of increasing the band gap and hole mobility in SnO and thus could potentially serve as the interlayer intercalants. The results provide a viable way for the experimental realization of wide-band-gap and high hole-mobility p-type SnO for BEOL vertical CMOS device applications.

Abstract
The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has embarked on a process to review and revise the current System of Radiological Protection ('the System'). To stimulate discussion, the ICRP published two open-access articles: one on aspects of the System that might require review, and another on research that might improve the scientific foundation of the System. Building on these articles, the ICRP organized a Workshop on the Future of Radiological Protection as an opportunity to engage in the review and revision of the System. This digital workshop took place from 14 October-3 November 2021 and included 20 live-streamed and 43 on-demand presentations. Approximately 1500 individuals from 100 countries participated. Based on the subjects covered by the presentations, this summary is organized into four broad areas: the scientific basis, concepts and application of the System; and the role of the ICRP. Some of the key topics that emerged included the following: classification of radiation-induced effects; adverse outcome pathway methodologies; better understanding of the dose-response relationship; holistic and reasonable approaches to optimization of protection; radiological protection of the environment; ethical basis of the System; clarity, consistency and communication of the System; application of the System in medicine and application of the principles of justification and optimization of protection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) can occur in association with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It is not easy to differentiate MIS-C from severe COVID-19 or Kawasaki disease based on symptoms. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical and laboratory characteristics of MIS-C. PATIENTS AND METHODS We searched PubMed/Medline for case series and reports of MIS-C published until June 20, 2020. From a total of nine articles involving 45 cases, various clinical and laboratory data were extracted. Each target case was evaluated by using different diagnostic criteria. RESULTS The average age at onset of MIS-C was 8.6 years. In 80% of cases, the age of patients ranged from 5 to 15 years. Fever (100%) and shock (82%) were the most common presenting symptoms. Sixty percent of cases met the diagnostic criteria for typical or atypical Kawasaki disease. Biomarkers indicative of inflammation, coagulopathy, or cardiac injury were characteristically elevated as follows: ferritin (mean: 1,061 ng/mL), CRP (217 mg/L), ESR (69 mm/hr), IL-6 (214.8 pg/mL), TNFα (63.4 pg/mL), D-dimer (3,220 ng/mL), PT (15.5 s), troponin I (1,006 ng/L), and BNP (12,150 pg/mL). Intravenous immunoglobulin was administered in all target cases, and inotropic agents were commonly used as well. No case of death was observed. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated that MIS-C is a serious condition that presents with fever, rash, as well as cardiovascular and gastrointestinal symptoms. Although it is challenging to differentiate MIS-C from Kawasaki disease or severe COVID-19, initiation of appropriate treatments through early diagnosis is warranted.

Abstract
The measurement of two-particle angular correlation functions in high-multiplicity e^{+}e^{-} collisions at sqrt[s]=10.52 GeV is reported. In this study, the 89.5 fb^{-1} of hadronic e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB are used. Two-particle angular correlation functions are measured in the full relative azimuthal angle (Δϕ) and three units of pseudorapidity (Δη), defined by either the electron beam axis or the event-shape thrust axis, and are studied as a function of charged-particle multiplicity. The measurement in the thrust axis analysis, with mostly outgoing quark pairs determining the reference axis, is sensitive to the region of additional soft gluon emissions. No significant anisotropic collective behavior is observed with either coordinate analyses. Near-side jet correlations appear to be absent in the thrust axis analysis. The measurements are compared to predictions from various event generators and are expected to provide new constraints to the phenomenological models in the low-energy regime.

Abstract
The mass of the W boson, a mediator of the weak force between elementary particles, is tightly constrained by the symmetries of the standard model of particle physics. The Higgs boson was the last missing component of the model. After observation of the Higgs boson, a measurement of the W boson mass provides a stringent test of the model. We measure the W boson mass, MW, using data corresponding to 8.8 inverse femtobarns of integrated luminosity collected in proton-antiproton collisions at a 1.96 tera-electron volt center-of-mass energy with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. A sample of approximately 4 million W boson candidates is used to obtain [Formula: see text], the precision of which exceeds that of all previous measurements combined (stat, statistical uncertainty; syst, systematic uncertainty; MeV, mega-electron volts; c, speed of light in a vacuum). This measurement is in significant tension with the standard model expectation.

Abstract
We search for a light Higgs boson (A^{0}) decaying into a τ^{+}τ^{-} or μ^{+}μ^{-} pair in the radiative decays of ϒ(1S). The production of ϒ(1S) mesons is tagged by ϒ(2S)→π^{+}π^{-}ϒ(1S) transitions, using 158×10^{6} ϒ(2S) events accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant A^{0} signals in the mass range from the τ^{+}τ^{-} or μ^{+}μ^{-} threshold to 9.2 GeV/c^{2} are observed. We set the upper limits at 90% credibility level (C.L.) on the product branching fractions for ϒ(1S)→γA^{0} and A^{0}→τ^{+}τ^{-} varying from 3.8×10^{-6} to 1.5×10^{-4}. Our results represent an approximately twofold improvement on the current world best upper limits for the ϒ(1S)→γA^{0}(→τ^{+}τ^{-}) production. For A^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-}, the upper limits on the product branching fractions for ϒ(1S)→γA^{0} and A^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-} are at the same level as the world average limits, and vary from 3.1×10^{-7} to 1.6×10^{-5}. The upper limits at 90% credibility level on the Yukawa coupling f_{ϒ(1S)} and mixing angle sinθ_{A^{0}} are also given.

Mechanisms for Graphene Growth on SiO 2 Using Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition: A Density Functional Theory Study. ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES 2022; 14:9492-9503. Abstract
Plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PE-CVD) of graphene layers on dielectric substrates is one of the most important processes for the incorporation of graphene in semiconductor devices. Graphene is moving rapidly from the laboratory to practical implementation; therefore, devices may take advantage of the unique properties of such nanomaterial. Conventional approaches rely on pattern transfers after growing graphene on transition metals, which can cause nonuniformities, poor adherence, or other defects. Direct growth of graphene layers on the substrates of interest, mostly dielectrics, is the most logical approach, although it is not free from challenges and obstacles such as obtaining a specific yield of graphene layers with desired properties or accurate control of the growing number of layers. In this work, we use density-functional theory (DFT) coupled with ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) to investigate the initial stages of graphene growth on silicon oxide. We select C2H2 as the PE-CVD precursor due to its large carbon contribution. On the basis of our simulation results for various surface models and precursor doses, we accurately describe the early stages of graphene growth, from the formation of carbon dimer rows to the critical length required to undergo dynamical folding that results in the formation of low-order polygonal shapes. The differences in bonding with the functionalization of the silicon oxide also mark the nature of the growing carbon layers as well as shed light of potential flaws in the adherence to the substrate. Finally, our dynamical matrix calculations and the obtained infrared (IR) spectra and vibrational characteristics provide accurate recipes to trace experimentally the growth mechanisms described and the corresponding identification of possible stacking faults or defects in the emerging graphene layers.

Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators in heart transplant patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Eur Heart J 2022. Type of funding sources: None.
Background
Whilst implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation is beneficial in a select group of patients, heart transplant patients were excluded from landmark clinical trials. Thus, controversy remains about the utility of ICD in high-risk heart transplant patients.
Purpose
To understand the utility, benefits and side-effects of ICD in heart transplant patients.
Methods
Five electronic databases were systematically searched from their inception to August 2021, in order to identify all studies which explored the role of ICD in heart transplant patients. We used a random-effects model for data analysis based on event rates (ER) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Publication bias was assessed using funnel plots and Egger’s regression analysis.
Results
Eleven studies with 4648 heart transplant patients, 129 of whom received ICD, met the inclusion criteria for the meta-analysis. Studies included two multicentre retrospective cohort studies, four single centre retrospective cohort studies, two case series and three case reports. Of the 129 heart transplant patients with ICD, 74% were men, mean age at ICD implantation was 48.5 years, mean time from transplant to ICD was 99 months, and mean follow-up duration was 40 months.
The indication for ICD implantation was often multifactorial and included severe allograft vasculopathy (40%), the presence of left ventricular systolic dysfunction (37%), documented VT/VF (14%), unexplained syncope (14%), and history of cardiac arrest (13%).
Appropriate ICD therapy for patients occurred as an average event rate of 19% (95% CI 13%-27%) (I2 = 0% p = 0.66), Figure 1. Inappropriate therapy for patients occurred as an average event rate of 9% (95% CI 5%-16%) (I2 = 0% p = 0.96), Figure 2. There was no evidence of publication bias.
In total, nine ICD-related complications were reported including pocket haematoma (n = 1), pocket site infection (n = 2), infection of the ICD system (n = 1), lead displacement (n = 2) and lead fracture (n = 1). Mortality occurred in 28 patients, with heart failure being the leading primary cause of death (n = 10), followed by sepsis (n = 6), arrhythmia (n = 3) and electromechanical disassociation (n = 3).
Conclusion
Heart transplant patients with ICD more often received appropriate than inappropriate ICD shock therapy. The 19% appropriate ICD shock rate suggests a high burden of ventricular arrhythmias in high-risk heart transplant patients. Thus, ICD therapy may be beneficial in a select subset of heart transplant patients, keeping in mind even with appropriate shock therapy, subsequent terminal electromechanical disassociation and arrhythmias may imply ICD are not fully protective against arrhythmic aetiologies of mortality. Abstract
The first measurements of differential branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic B→X_{u}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} decays are performed using the full Belle data set of 711 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity at the ϒ(4S) resonance and for ℓ=e, μ. With the availability of these measurements, new avenues for future shape-function model-independent determinations of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{ub}| can be pursued to gain new insights in the existing tension with respect to exclusive determinations. The differential branching fractions are reported as a function of the lepton energy, the four-momentum-transfer squared, light-cone momenta, the hadronic mass, and the hadronic mass squared. They are obtained by subtracting the backgrounds from semileptonic B→X_{c}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} decays and other processes, and corrected for resolution and acceptance effects.

Keeping the ICRP recommendations fit for purpose. JOURNAL OF RADIOLOGICAL PROTECTION : OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE SOCIETY FOR RADIOLOGICAL PROTECTION 2021; 41:1390-1409. Abstract
The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has embarked on a review and revision of the system of Radiological Protection that will update the 2007 general recommendations in ICRPPublication 103. This is the beginning of a process that will take several years, involving open and transparent engagement with organisations and individuals around the world. While the system is robust and has performed well, it must adapt to address changes in science and society to remain fit for purpose. The aim of this paper is to encourage discussions on which areas of the system might gain the greatest benefit from review, and to initiate collaborative efforts. Increased clarity and consistency are high priorities. The better the system is understood, the more effectively it can be applied, resulting in improved protection and increased harmonisation. Many areas are identified for potential review including: classification of effects, with particular focus on tissue reactions; reformulation of detriment, potentially including non-cancer diseases; re-evaluation of the relationship between detriment and effective dose, and the possibility of defining detriments for males and females of different ages; individual variation in the response to radiation exposure; heritable effects; and effects and risks in non-human biota and ecosystems. Some of the basic concepts are also being considered, including the framework for bringing together protection of people and the environment, incremental improvements to the fundamental principles of justification and optimisation, a broader approach to protection of individuals, and clarification of the exposure situations introduced in 2007. In addition, ICRP is considering identifying where explicit incorporation of the ethical basis of the system would be beneficial, how to better reflect the importance of communications and stakeholder involvement, and further advice on education and training. ICRP invites responses on these and other areas relating to the review of the System of Radiological Protection.

Abstract
We report a measurement of the D^{0} and D^{+} lifetimes using D^{0}→K^{-}π^{+} and D^{+}→K^{-}π^{+}π^{+} decays reconstructed in e^{+}e^{-}→cc[over ¯] data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The data, collected at center-of-mass energies at or near the ϒ(4S) resonance, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 72 fb^{-1}. The results, τ(D^{0})=410.5±1.1(stat)±0.8(syst) fs and τ(D^{+})=1030.4±4.7(stat)±3.1(syst) fs, are the most precise to date and are consistent with previous determinations.

Search for B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] Decays Using an Inclusive Tagging Method at Belle II. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:181802. Abstract
A search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decay B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] is performed at the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 63 fb^{-1} collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance and a sample of 9 fb^{-1} collected at an energy 60 MeV below the resonance. Because the measurable decay signature involves only a single charged kaon, a novel measurement approach is used that exploits not only the properties of the B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] decay, but also the inclusive properties of the other B meson in the ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] event, to suppress the background from other B meson decays and light-quark pair production. This inclusive tagging approach offers a higher signal efficiency compared to previous searches. No significant signal is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction of B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] of 4.1×10^{-5} is set at the 90% confidence level.

Measurements of the Branching Fractions of the Semileptonic Decays Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} and the Asymmetry Parameter of Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:121803. Abstract
Using data samples of 89.5 and 711 fb^{-1} recorded at energies of sqrt[s]=10.52 and 10.58 GeV, respectively, with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^{+}e^{-} collider, we report measurements of branching fractions of semileptonic decays Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} (ℓ=e or μ) and the CP-asymmetry parameter of Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decay. The branching fractions are measured to be B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})=(1.31±0.04±0.07±0.38)% and B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ})=(1.27±0.06±0.10±0.37)%, and the decay parameter α_{Ξπ} is measured to be 0.63±0.03±0.01 with much improved precision compared with the current world average. The corresponding ratio B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})/B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}) is 1.03±0.05±0.07, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter A_{CP}=(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}+α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})/(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}-α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})=0.024±0.052±0.014 is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} branching fraction.

Low-temperature high-frequency dynamic magnetic susceptibility of classical spin-ice Dy 2Ti 2O 7. JOURNAL OF PHYSICS. CONDENSED MATTER : AN INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS JOURNAL 2021; 33:455802. Abstract
Radio-frequency (14.6 MHz) AC magnetic susceptibility,χAC', of Dy2Ti2O7was measured using self-oscillating tunnel-diode resonator. Measurements were made with the excitation AC field parallel to the superimposed DC magnetic field up to 5 T in a wide temperature range from 50 mK to 100 K. At 14.6 MHz, a known broad peak ofχAC'(T)from kHz-range audio-frequency measurements around 15 K for both [111] and [110] directions shifts to 45 K, continuing the Arrhenius activated behavior with the same activation energy barrier ofEa≈ 230 K. Magnetic field dependence ofχAC'along [111] reproduces previously reported low-temperature two-in-two-out to three-in-one-out spin configuration transition at about 1 T, and an intermediate phase between 1 and 1.5 T. The boundaries of the intermediate phase show reasonable overlap with the literature data and connect at a critical endpoint of the first order transition line, suggesting that these features are frequency independent. An unusual upturn of the magnetic susceptibility atT→ 0 was observed in magnetic fields between 1.5 T and 2 T for both magnetic field directions, before fully polarized configuration sets in above 2 T.

Abstract
Density functional theory (DFT) is employed to investigate ferroelectric (FE) hafnium-zirconium oxide stack models for both metal-insulator-metal (MIM) and metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) structures. The role of dielectric (DE) interlayers at the ferroelectric interfaces with metals and semiconductors and the effects of thickness scaling of FE and DE layers were investigated using atomic stack models. A high internal field is induced in the FE and DE layers by the FE polarization field which can promote defect generation leading to limited endurance. It is also shown that device operation will be adversely affected by too thick DE interlayers due to high operating voltage. These DFT models elucidate the underlying mechanisms of the lower endurance in experimental MIS devices compared to MIM devices and provide insights into the fundamental mechanisms at the interfaces.

Unusually High Ion Conductivity in Large-Scale Patternable Two-Dimensional MoS 2 Film. ACS NANO 2021; 15:12267-12275. Abstract
The advancement of ion transport applications will require the development of functional materials with a high ionic conductivity that is stable, scalable, and micro-patternable. We report unusually high ionic conductivity of Li+, Na+, and K+ in 2D MoS2 nanofilm exceeding 1 S/cm, which is more than 2 orders of magnitude higher when compared to that of conventional solid ionic materials. The high ion conductivity of different cations can be explained by the mitigated activation energy via percolative ion channels in 2H-MoS2, including the 1D ion channel at the grain boundary, as confirmed by modeling and analysis. We obtain field-effect modulation of ion transport with a high on/off ratio. The ion channel is large-scale patternable by conventional lithography, and the thickness can be tuned down to a single atomic layer. The findings yield insight into the ion transport mechanism of van der Waals solid materials and guide the development of future ionic devices owing to the facile and scalable device fabrication with superionic conductivity.

Abstract
Reducing sulfur poisoning is significant for maintaining the catalytic efficiency and durability of heterogeneous catalysts. We screened PdAu nanoclusters with specific Pd : Au ratios based on Monte Carlo simulations and then carried out density functional calculations to reveal how to reduce sulfur poisoning via alloying. Among various nanoclusters, the core-shell structure Pd13Au42 (Pd@Au) exhibits a low adsorption energy of SO2 (-0.67 eV), comparable with O2 (-0.45 eV) and lower than CO (-1.25 eV), thus avoiding sulfur poisoning during the CO catalytic oxidation. Fundamentally, the weak adsorption of SO2 originates from the negative d-band center of the shell and delocalized charge distribution near the Fermi level, due to the appropriate charge transfer from the core to shell. Core-shell nanoclusters with a different core (Ni, Cu, Ag, Pt) and a Pd@Au slab model were further constructed to validate and extend the results. These findings provide insights into designing core-shell catalysts to suppress sulfur poisoning while optimizing catalytic behaviors.
