Abstract
The compound known as Sodium arsenite (NaAsO2), which is a prevalent type of inorganic arsenic found in the environment, has been strongly associated with liver fibrosis (LF), a key characteristic of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which has been demonstrated in our previous study. Our previous research has shown that exposure to NaAsO2 triggers the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), a crucial event in the development of LF. However, the molecular mechanism is still unknown. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is the most crucial post-transcriptional modification in liver disease. Nevertheless, the precise function of m6A alteration in triggering HSCs and initiating LF caused by NaAsO2 remains unknown. Here, we found that NaAsO2 induced LF and HSCs activation through TGF-β/Smad signaling, which could be reversed by TGF-β1 knockdown. Furthermore, NaAsO2 treatment enhanced the m6A modification level both in vivo and in vitro. Significantly, NaAsO2 promoted the specific interaction of METTL14 and IGF2BP2 with TGF-β1 and enhanced the TGF-β1 mRNA stability. Notably, NaAsO2-induced TGF-β/Smad pathway and HSC-t6 cells activation might be avoided by limiting METTL14/IGF2BP2-mediated m6A modification. Our findings showed that the NaAsO2-induced activation of HSCs and LF is made possible by the METTL14/IGF2BP2-mediated m6A methylation of TGF-β1, which may open up new therapeutic options for LF brought on by environmental hazards.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy provides remarkable clinical benefits for multiple cancer types. However, the overall response rate to ICB therapy remains low in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). This study aimed to identify biomarkers of ICB therapy for ESCC and interrogate its potential clinical relevance. METHODS We investigated gene expression in 42 treatment-naïve ESCC tumor tissues and identified differentially expressed genes, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and immune-related genes signatures associated with differential immunotherapy responses. We systematically assessed the tumor microenvironment using the NanoString GeoMx digital spatial profiler, single-cell RNA-seq and multiplex immunohistochemistry in ESCC. Finally, we evaluated the associations between HLA-A-positive tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) and patients' responses to ICB in 60 ESCC patients. RESULTS Tumor infiltrating B lymphocytes and several immune-related gene signatures, such as the antigen presenting machinery (APM) signature, are significantly elevated in ICB treatment responders. Multiplex immunohistochemistry identified the presence of HLA-A+ TLSs and showed that TLS-resident cells increasingly express HLA-A as TLSs mature. Most TLS-resident HLA-A+ cells are tumor-infiltrating T (TIL-T) or tumor-infiltrating B (TIL-B) lymphocytes. Digital spatial profiling of spatially distinct TIL-T lymphocytes and single-cell RNA-seq data from 60 ESCC tumor tissues revealed that CXCL13-expressing exhausted TIL-Ts inside TLSs are reactivated with elevated expression of the APM signature as TLSs mature. Finally, we demonstrated that HLA-A+ TLSs and their major cellular components, TIL-Ts and TIL-Bs, are associated with a clinical benefit from ICB treatment for ESCC. CONCLUSIONS HLA-A+ TLSs are present in ESCC tumor tissues. TLS-resident TIL-Ts with elevated expression of the APM signature may be reactivated. HLA-A+ TLSs and their major cellular components, TIL-Ts and TIL-Bs, may serve as biomarkers for ICB-treated ESCC patients.

Abstract
Pancreatic cancer (PC) is among the deadliest malignancies, with an extremely poor diagnosis and prognosis. Gemcitabine (GEM) remains the first-line drug for treating PC; however, only a small percentage of patients benefit from current immunotherapies or targeted therapies. Resistance to GEM is prevalent and affects long-term survival. We found that ubiquitin-protein ligase E3 module N-recognition 5 (UBR5) is a therapeutic target against GEM resistance. UBR5 was markedly upregulated in clinical GEM-resistant PC samples and GEM-resistant PC cells. UBR5 knockdown markedly increased GEM sensitivity in GEM-resistant PC cell lines. UBR5-mediated GEM resistance was accompanied by activation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and could be mitigated by inhibiting EMT. Further analysis revealed that UBR5 promoted GEM resistance in PC cells by enhancing O-GlcNAcylation-mediated EMT. In addition, UBR5 knockdown resulted in increased O-GlcNAase (OGA) levels, an essential negatively regulated enzyme in the O-GlcNAcylation process. We identified a negative association between OGA and UBR5 levels, which further supported the hypothesis that O-GlcNAcylation-mediated GEM resistance induced by UBR5 is OGA-dependent in PC cells. Mechanistic studies revealed that UBR5 acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase of OGA and regulates O-GlcNAcylation by binding and modulating OGA, facilitating its degradation and ubiquitination. Additionally, high-throughput compound library screening using three-dimensional protein structure analysis and drug screening identified a Food and Drug Administration drug, Y-39983 dihydrochloride, as a potent GEM sensitiser and UBR5 inhibitor. The combination of Y-39983 dihydrochloride and GEM attenuated tumour growth in a mouse xenograft tumour model. Collectively, these data demonstrated that UBR5 plays a pivotal role in the sensitisation of PC to GEM and provides a potential therapeutic strategy to overcome GEM resistance.

Abstract
Global riverine nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions have increased more than 4-fold in the last century. It has been estimated that the hyporheic zones in small streams alone may contribute approximately 85% of these N2O emissions. However, the mechanisms and pathways controlling hyporheic N2O production in stream ecosystems remain unknown. Here, we report that ammonia-derived pathways, rather than the nitrate-derived pathways, are the dominant hyporheic N2O sources (69.6 ± 2.1%) in agricultural streams around the world. The N2O fluxes are mainly in positive correlation with ammonia. The potential N2O metabolic pathways of metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) provides evidence that nitrifying bacteria contain greater abundances of N2O production-related genes than denitrifying bacteria. Taken together, this study highlights the importance of mitigating agriculturally derived ammonium in low-order agricultural streams in controlling N2O emissions. Global models of riverine ecosystems need to better represent ammonia-derived pathways for accurately estimating and predicting riverine N2O emissions.

Abstract
Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), an officially listed persistent organic pollutant, is a widely distributed perfluoroalkyl substance. Epidemiological studies have shown that PFOS is intimately linked to the occurrence of insulin resistance (IR). However, the detailed mechanism remains obscure. In previous studies, we found that mitochondrial calcium overload was concerned with hepatic IR induced by PFOS. In this study, we found that PFOS exposure noticeably raised lysosomal calcium in L-02 hepatocytes from 0.5 h. In the PFOS-cultured L-02 cells, inhibiting autophagy alleviated lysosomal calcium overload. Inhibition of mitochondrial calcium uptake aggravated the accumulation of lysosomal calcium, while inhibition of lysosomal calcium outflowing reversed PFOS-induced mitochondrial calcium overload and IR. Transient receptor potential mucolipin 1 (TRPML1), the calcium output channel of lysosomes, interacted with voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1), the calcium intake channel of mitochondria, in the PFOS-cultured cells. Moreover, we found that ATP synthase F1 subunit beta (ATP5B) interacted with TRPML1 and VDAC1 in the L-02 cells and the liver of mice under PFOS exposure. Inhibiting ATP5B expression or restraining the ATP5B on the plasma membrane reduced the interplay between TRPML1 and VDAC1, reversed the mitochondrial calcium overload and deteriorated the lysosomal calcium accumulation in the PFOS-cultured cells. Our research unveils the molecular regulation of the calcium crosstalk between lysosomes and mitochondria, and explains PFOS-induced IR in the context of activated autophagy.

Abstract
Pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasias (PanINs) are the most common precursors of pancreatic cancer, but their small size and inaccessibility in humans make them challenging to study1. Critically, the number, dimensions and connectivity of human PanINs remain largely unknown, precluding important insights into early cancer development. Here, we provide a microanatomical survey of human PanINs by analysing 46 large samples of grossly normal human pancreas with a machine-learning pipeline for quantitative 3D histological reconstruction at single-cell resolution. To elucidate genetic relationships between and within PanINs, we developed a workflow in which 3D modelling guides multi-region microdissection and targeted and whole-exome sequencing. From these samples, we calculated a mean burden of 13 PanINs per cm3 and extrapolated that the normal intact adult pancreas harbours hundreds of PanINs, almost all with oncogenic KRAS hotspot mutations. We found that most PanINs originate as independent clones with distinct somatic mutation profiles. Some spatially continuous PanINs were found to contain multiple KRAS mutations; computational and in situ analyses demonstrated that different KRAS mutations localize to distinct cell subpopulations within these neoplasms, indicating their polyclonal origins. The extensive multifocality and genetic heterogeneity of PanINs raises important questions about mechanisms that drive precancer initiation and confer differential progression risk in the human pancreas. This detailed 3D genomic mapping of molecular alterations in human PanINs provides an empirical foundation for early detection and rational interception of pancreatic cancer.

Decreased resting-state functional connectivity and brain network abnormalities in the prefrontal cortex of elderly patients with Parkinson's disease accompanied by depressive symptoms. Abstract
This study aimed to explore the brain network characteristics in elderly patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) with depressive symptoms. Thirty elderly PD patients with depressive symptoms (PD-D) and 26 matched PD patients without depressive symptoms (PD-NOD) were recruited based on HAMD-24 with a cut-off of 7. The resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) was conducted by 53-channel functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). There were no statistically significant differences in MMSE scores, disease duration, Hoehn-Yahr stage, daily levodopa equivalent dose, and MDS-UPDRS III between the two groups. However, compared to the PD-NOD group, the PD-D group showed significantly higher MDS-UPDRS II, HAMA-14, and HAMD-24. The interhemispheric FC strength and the FC strength between the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC-L) and the left frontal polar area (FPA-L) was significantly lower in the PD-D group (FDR p < 0.05). As for graph theoretic metrics, the PD-D group had significantly lower degree centrality (aDc) and node efficiency (aNe) in the DLPFC-L and the FPA-L (FDR, p < 0.05), as well as decreased global efficiency (aEg). Pearson correlation analysis indicated moderate negative correlations between HAMD-24 scores and the interhemispheric FC strength, FC between DLPFC-L and FPA-L, aEg, aDc in FPA-L, aNe in DLPFC-L and FPA-L. In conclusion, PD-D patients show decreased integration and efficiency in their brain networks. Furthermore, RSFC between DLPFC-L and FPA-L regions is negatively correlated with depressive symptoms. These findings propose that targeting DLPFC-L and FPA-L regions via non-invasive brain stimulation may be a potential intervention for alleviating depressive symptoms in elderly PD patients.

Abstract
Recently a dark matter-electron (DM-electron) paradigm has drawn much attention. Models beyond the standard halo model describing DM accelerated by high energy celestial bodies are under intense examination as well. In this Letter, a velocity components analysis (VCA) method dedicated to swift analysis of accelerated DM-electron interactions via semiconductor detectors is proposed and the first HPGe detector-based accelerated DM-electron analysis is realized. Utilizing the method, the first germanium based constraint on sub-GeV solar reflected DM-electron interaction is presented with the 205.4 kg·day dataset from the CDEX-10 experiment. In the heavy mediator scenario, our result excels in the mass range of 5-15 keV/c^{2}, achieving a 3 orders of magnitude improvement comparing with previous semiconductor experiments. In the light mediator scenario, the strongest laboratory constraint for DM lighter than 0.1 MeV/c^{2} is presented. The result proves the feasibility and demonstrates the vast potential of the VCA technique in future accelerated DM-electron analyses with semiconductor detectors.

Abstract
Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACis) are a significant category of pharmaceuticals that have developed in the past two decades to treat multiple myeloma. Four drugs in this category have received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use: Panobinonstat (though canceled by the FDA in 2022), Vorinostat, Belinostat and Romidepsin. The efficacy of this group of drugs is attributed to the disruption of many processes involved in tumor growth through the inhibition of histone deacetylase, and this mode of action leads to significant anti-multiple myeloma (MM) activity. In MM, inhibition of histone deacetylase has many downstream consequences, including suppression of NF-κB signaling and HSP90, upregulation of cell cycle regulators (p21, p53), and downregulation of antiapoptotic proteins including Bcl-2. Furthermore, HDACis have a variety of direct and indirect oxidative effects on cellular DNA. HDAC inhibitors enhance normal immune function, thereby decreasing the proliferation of malignant plasma cells and promoting autophagy. The various biological effects of inhibiting histone deacetylase have a combined or additional impact when used alongside other chemotherapeutic and targeted drugs for multiple myeloma. This helps to decrease resistance to treatment. Combination treatment regimens that include HDACis have become an essential part of the therapy for multiple myeloma. These regimens incorporate drugs from other important classes of anti-myeloma agents, such as immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDs), conventional chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, and proteasome inhibitors. This review provides a comprehensive evaluation of the clinical efficacy and safety data pertaining to the currently approved histone deacetylase inhibitors, as well as an explanation of the crucial function of histone deacetylase in multiple myeloma and the characteristics of the different histone deacetylase inhibitors. Moreover, it provides a concise overview of the most recent developments in the use of histone deacetylase inhibitors for treating multiple myeloma, as well as potential future uses in treatment.

Abstract
E3-ubiquitin ligases (E3s) are main components of the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), as they determine substrate specificity in response to internal and external cues to regulate protein homeostasis. However, the regulation of membrane protein ubiquitination by E3s within distinct cell membrane compartments or organelles is not well understood. We show that FBXO10, the interchangeable component of the SKP1/CUL1/F-box ubiquitin ligase complex (SCF-E3), undergoes lipid-modification with geranylgeranyl isoprenoid at Cysteine953 (C953), facilitating its dynamic trafficking to the outer mitochondrial membrane (OMM). FBXO10 polypeptide does not contain a canonical mitochondrial targeting sequence (MTS); instead, its geranylgeranylation at C953 and the interaction with two cytosolic factors, PDE6δ (a prenyl group-binding protein), and HSP90 (a mitochondrial chaperone) orchestrate specific OMM targeting of prenyl-FBXO10 across diverse membrane compartments. The geranylgeranylation-deficient FBXO10(C953S) mutant redistributes away from the OMM, leading to impaired mitochondrial ATP production, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, and increased mitochondrial fragmentation. Phosphoglycerate mutase 5 (PGAM5) was identified as a potential substrate of FBXO10 at the OMM using comparative quantitative mass spectrometry analyses of enriched mitochondria (LFQ-MS/MS), leveraging the redistribution of FBXO10(C953S). FBXO10, but not FBXO10(C953S), promoted polyubiquitylation and degradation of PGAM5. Examination of the role of this pathway in a physiological context revealed that the loss of FBXO10 or expression of prenylation-deficient-FBXO10(C953S) inhibited PGAM5 degradation, disrupted mitochondrial homeostasis, and impaired myogenic differentiation of human iPSCs and murine myoblasts. Our studies identify a mechanism for selective E3-ligase mediated regulation of mitochondrial membrane proteostasis and metabolic health, potentially amenable to therapeutic intervention.

Abstract
We present a measurement of η production from neutrino interactions on argon with the MicroBooNE detector. The modeling of resonant neutrino interactions on argon is a critical aspect of the neutrino oscillation physics program being carried out by the DUNE and Short Baseline Neutrino programs. η production in neutrino interactions provides a powerful new probe of resonant interactions, complementary to pion channels, and is particularly suited to the study of higher-order resonances beyond the Δ(1232). We measure a flux-integrated cross section for neutrino-induced η production on argon of 3.22±0.84(stat)±0.86(syst) 10^{-41} cm^{2}/nucleon. By demonstrating the successful reconstruction of the two photons resulting from η production, this analysis enables a novel calibration technique for electromagnetic showers in GeV accelerator neutrino experiments.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of hospitalized children with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in Kunming among the pre-and post-COVID-19 era, and to establish a prediction model for severe RSV infection in children during the post-COVID-19 period. Methods: This was a retrospective study. Clinical and laboratory data were collected from 959 children hospitalized with RSV infection in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Kunming Children's Hospital during January to December 2019 and January to December 2023. Patients admitted in 2019 were defined as the pre-COVID-19 group, while those admitted in 2023 were classified as the post-COVID-19 group. Epidemiological and clinical characteristics were compared between the two groups. Subsequently, comparison of the clinical severity among the two groups was performed based on propensity score matching (PSM). Furthermore, the subjects in the post-COVID-19 group were divided into severe and non-severe groups based on clinical severity. Chi-square test and Mann-Whitney U test were used for pairwise comparison between groups, and multivariate Logistic regression was applied for the identification of independent risk factors and construction of the prediction model. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and calibration curve were employed to evaluate the predictive performance of this model. Results: Among the 959 children hospitalized with RSV infection, there were 555 males and 404 females, with an onset age of 15.4 (7.3, 28.5) months. Of which, there were 331 cases in the pre-COVID-19 group and 628 cases in the post-COVID-19 group. The peak period of RSV hospitalization in the post-COVID-19 group were from May to October 2023, and the monthly number of inpatients for each of these months were as follows: 72 cases (11.5%), 98 cases (15.6%), 128 cases (20.4%), 101 cases (16.1%), 65 cases (10.4%), and 61 cases (9.7%), respectively. After PSM for general data, 267 cases were matched in each group. The proportion of wheezing in the post-COVID-19 group was lower than that in the pre-COVID-19 group (109 cases (40.8%) vs. 161 cases (60.3%), χ2=20.26, P<0.001), while the incidences of fever, tachypnea, seizures, severe case, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 levels were all higher than those in the pre-COVID-19 group (146 cases (54.7%) vs. 119 cases (44.6%), 117 cases (43.8%) vs. 89 cases (33.3%), 37 cases (13.9%) vs. 14 cases (5.2%), 69 cases (25.8%) vs. 45 cases (16.9%), 3.6 (1.9, 6.4) vs. 2.3 (1.8, 4.6), 9.9 (7.1, 15.2) vs. 7.8 (4.5, 13.9) mg/L, 20.5 (15.7, 30.4) vs. 17.2 (11.0, 26.9) ng/L, χ2=5.46, 6.36, 11.47, 6.42, Z=4.13, 3.06, 2.96, all P<0.05). There were 252 cases and 107 cases with co-infection in the post-and pre-COVID-19 groups, respectively. The proportion of triple and quadruple infection in the post-COVID-19 group was higher than that in the pre-COVID-19 group (59 cases (23.4%) vs. 13 cases (12.1%), 30 cases (11.9%) vs. 5 cases (4.7%), χ2=5.94, 4.46, both P<0.05). Among the 252 cases with co-infection in post-COVID-19 group, the most prevalent pathogens involving in co-infections, in order, were Mycoplasma pneumoniae 56 cases (22.2%), Influenza A virus 53 cases (21.0%), Rhinovirus 48 cases (19.0%), Parainfluenza virus 35 cases (13.9%), and Adenovirus 28 cases (11.1%).The result of multivariate Logistic regression showed that age (OR=0.70, 95%CI 0.62-0.78, P<0.001), underlying diseases (OR=10.03, 95%CI 4.10-24.55, P<0.001), premature birth (OR=6.78, 95%CI 3.53-13.04, P<0.001), NLR (OR=1.85, 95%CI 1.09-3.15, P=0.023), and co-infection (OR=1.28, 95%CI 1.18-1.38, P<0.001) were independently associated with the development of severe RSV infection in the post-COVID-19 group. The ROC curve of the prediction model integrating the above five factors indicated an area under the curve of 0.85 (95%CI 0.80-0.89, P<0.001), with an optimal cutoff of 0.21, a sensitivity of 0.83 and a specificity of 0.80. The calibration curve showed that the predicted probability in this model did not differ significantly from the actual probability (P=0.319). Conclusions: In the post-COVID-19 era in Kunming, the peak in pediatric hospitalizations for RSV infection was from May to October, with declined incidence of wheezing and increased incidence of fever, tachypnea, seizures, severe cases, and rates of triple and quadruple co-infections. Age, underlying diseases, premature birth, NLR, and co-infection were identified as independent risk factors for severe RSV infection in the post-COVID-19 period. In this study, a risk prediction model for severe pediatric RSV infection was established, which had a good predictive performance.

Abstract
Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) have been associated with favorable immunotherapy responses and prognosis in various cancers. Despite their significance, their quantification using multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC) staining of T and B lymphocytes remains labor-intensive, limiting its clinical utility. To address this challenge, we curated a dataset from matched mIHC and H&E whole-slide images (WSIs) and developed a deep learning model for automated segmentation of TLSs. The model achieved Dice coefficients of 0.91 on the internal test set and 0.866 on the external validation set, along with intersection over union (IoU) scores of 0.819 and 0.787, respectively. The TLS ratio, defined as the segmented TLS area over the total tissue area, correlated with B lymphocyte levels and the expression of CXCL13, a chemokine associated with TLS formation, in 6140 patients spanning 16 tumor types from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The prognostic models for overall survival indicated that the inclusion of the TLS ratio with TNM staging significantly enhanced the models' discriminative ability, outperforming the traditional models that solely incorporated TNM staging, in 10 out of 15 TCGA tumor types. Furthermore, when applied to biopsied treatment-naïve tumor samples, higher TLS ratios predicted a positive immunotherapy response across multiple cohorts, including specific therapies for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer, and stomach adenocarcinoma. In conclusion, our deep learning-based approach offers an automated and reproducible method for TLS segmentation and quantification, highlighting its potential in predicting immunotherapy response and informing cancer prognosis.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to investigate whether computed tomography (CT)-measured erector spinae parameters (ESPs) have diagnostic, severity assessment, and prognostic predictive value in uremic sarcopenia (US). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 202 uremic patients were enrolled and divided into two groups: a control group and a sarcopenia group. Sarcopenia was classified into two types: severe and nonsevere. The area, volume, and density of the erector spinae (ES) were measured using chest CT images, and the relevant ESP, including the erector spinae index (ESI), total erector spinae volume (TESV), erector spinae density (ESD), and erector spinae gauge (ESG) were calculated. The occurrence of adverse events was followed-up for 36 months. The diagnostic value and severity of US were determined using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Survival curves diagnosed using CT were plotted and compared with the curve drawn using the gold standard. Cox regression analysis was used to identify independent risk factors associated with survival in US. RESULTS With an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.840 and 0.739, the combined ESP has diagnostic value and the ability to assess the severity of US. There was no significant difference in the survival curve between the combined ESP for the diagnosis of US and the gold standard (P > 0.05). ESI is a standalone predictor of survival in patients with US. CONCLUSION ESP measured by CT has diagnostic values for US and its severity, as well as being a predictive value for the prognosis of US.

Abstract
Paddy soils are an important source of atmospheric nitrous oxide (N2O). However, numerous studies have focused on N2O production during the soil tillage period, neglecting the N2O production during the dry fallow period. In this study, we conducted an incubation experiment using the acetylene inhibition technique to investigate N2O emission and reduction rates of paddy soil profiles (0-1 m) from Guangdong Province and Jinlin Province in China, with different heavy-metal pollution levels. The abundance and community structures of denitrifying bacteria were determined via quantitative-PCR and Illumina MiSeq sequencing of nosZ, nirK, and nirS genes. Our results showed that the potential N2O emission rate, N2O production rate, and denitrification rate have decreased with increasing soil vertical depth and heavy-metal pollution. More importantly, we found that the functional gene type of N2O reductase switched with the tillage state of paddy soils, which clade Ⅱ nosZ genes were the dominant gene during the tillage period, while clade Ⅰ nosZ genes were the dominant gene during the dry fallow period. The heavy-metal pollution has less effect on the niche differentiation of the nosZ gene. The N2O emission rate was significantly regulated by the genus Bradyhizobium, which contains both N2O reductase and nitrite reductase genes. Our findings suggests that the nosZ gene of N2O reductase can significantly impact the N2O emission from paddy soils.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Primary trigeminal neuralgia (PTN) is a type of chronic neuropathic pain disorder caused by neurovascular compression. Percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) is a widely used method for the treatment of PTN. OBJECTIVES To examine the correlation of balloon pressure (BP) during percutaneous microballoon compression (PBC) with postoperative pain relief and complications in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia (PTN). STUDY DESIGN Forty-five patients diagnosed with PTN and treated with PBC were recruited. The BP was recorded at 2 time points: when the balloon achieved the ideal pear shape (initial BP [IBP]) and when the pressure was maintained for 2 min (final BP [FBP]). SETTING This study was conducted at the Department of Pain and Rehabilitation of the Second Affiliated Hospital at the University of South China in Hunan, China. METHODS The patients' Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) pain intensity score, BNI facial numbness score, masticatory muscle weakness score, and recurrence were recorded before and after surgery. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were generated for the IBP to predict treatment effectiveness, severe facial numbness, and severe masticatory muscle weakness. RESULTS The BNI pain intensity score, BNI facial numbness score, and masticatory muscle weakness score were significantly decreased after surgery (all P < 0.001). IBP was positively correlated with the difference between IBP and FBP (P < 0.01). Both IBP and the difference between IBP and FBP were negatively correlated with the BNI pain intensity score and positively correlated with the BNI facial numbness score and masticatory muscle weakness score (P < 0.01). The IBP and the difference between the IBP and FBP were significantly lower in patients experiencing recurrence than in the nonrecurrent group (P < 0.05). The areas under the ROC curves of the IBP for predicting effective pain relief, severe facial numbness, and severe masticatory muscle weakness were 0.875, 0.980, and 0.988, respectively. LIMITATIONS The sample size was relatively small, and the follow-up time was short. The correlations between the BP and other factors, such as filling amount, Meckel's cavity, and the size of the foramen ovale, were not investigated. The impact of the BP on long-term postoperative outcomes was not explored. CONCLUSIONS An intraoperative BP of 138.65-153.90 KPa can be maintained for effective PBC treatment without causing serious complications.

Abstract
Cr(VI) is known to be seriously toxic and carcinogenic. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) is a crucial regulator to promote tumor development. In this study, we found that Cr(VI) significantly increased the expression of HIF-1α in A549 cells and in lung of BALB/c mice but not in HELF cells. Treatment with Lificiguat (YC-1), HIF-1α inhibitor, or CoCl2, HIF-1α inducer, could alter Cr(VI)-induced autophagy, glycolysis, and cell growth in A549 cells but not in HELF cells, validating the involvement of HIF-1α in these effects of Cr(VI) in A549 cells. Co-treatments of pcATG4B with YC-1, or siATG4B with CoCl2 demonstrated the role of HIF-1α / autophagy axis in inducing glycolysis and cell growth in A549 cells. In HELF cells, however, only autophagy but not HIF-1α played a role in inducing glycolysis. The protein level of p53 was significantly lower in A549 cells than in HELF cells. RITA, a p53 inducer, attenuated Cr(VI)-induced HIF-1α and LC3-II in A549 cells, suggesting that p53 might be the mechanism underlying the different effects of Cr(VI) on HIF-1α in A549 and HELF cells. Thus, p53-dependent HIF-1α / autophagy-mediated glycolysis plays a role in facilitating Cr(VI)-induced carcinogenesis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To comprehensively assess the association between operative positioning with intraoperative-acquired pressure injury (IAPI) development. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included 455 patients who underwent surgery between October 2020 and January 2021. The authors grouped patients by operative positioning into the prone position and nonprone position groups. They used propensity-score matching at a 1:2 ratio to control for preoperative confounders, applied multiple logistic regression models to analyze the effects between positioning and IAPI, and assessed interactions of positioning and intraoperative factors on IAPI. RESULTS The final enrollment was 92 cases in the prone position group and 181 in the nonprone position group. Multivariable logistic analysis suggested that the prone position had a 2.92 times higher risk of IAPI than the nonprone position (odds ratio, 2.92; 95% CI, 1.13-7.57; P = .026). Subgroup analysis showed a significant multiplicative interaction between positioning and foam dressing on IAPI (P < .05), which was not observed in other intraoperative factors (P > .05). CONCLUSIONS This study provides evidence that prone operative positioning can increase IAPI risk. Patients in the prone position may particularly benefit from using dressings in Chinese populations. Further large-sample longitudinal studies are required to confirm these findings.

Abstract
Managing user bias in large-scale user review data is a significant challenge in optimizing children's book recommendation systems. To tackle this issue, this study introduces a novel hybrid model that combines graph convolutional networks (GCN) based on bipartite graphs and neural matrix factorization (NMF). This model aims to enhance the precision and efficiency of children's book recommendations by accurately capturing user biases. In this model, the complex interactions between users and books are modeled as a bipartite graph, with the users' book ratings serving as the weights of the edges. Through GCN and NMF, we can delve into the structure of the graph and the behavioral patterns of users, more accurately identify and address user biases, and predict their future behaviors. Compared to traditional recommendation systems, our hybrid model excels in handling large-scale user review data. Experimental results confirm that our model has significantly improved in terms of recommendation accuracy and scalability, positively contributing to the advancement of children's book recommendation systems.

Abstract
The treatment of patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE) is extremely challenging due to the complex clinical presentation and prognosis of APE related to the patient's hemodynamic status and insufficient arterial blood flow and right ventricular overload. Protective efficacy against cardiovascular diseases of curcumin, a common natural polyphenolic compound, which has antithrombotic properties and reduces platelet accumulation in the circulation by inhibiting thromboxane synthesis has been demonstrated. However, the direct effect of curcumin on APE has rarely been studied. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential of curcumin in APE and associated myocardial injury to provide new insights into curcumin as a promising competitive new target for the treatment of APE. A suspension of 12 mg/kg microspheres was injected intravenously into rats. An APE rat model was built. Before modeling, intragastric 100 mg/kg curcumin was given, and/or lentiviral plasmid vector targeting microRNA-145-5p or insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) was injected. Pulmonary artery pressure was measured to assess right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP). Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining was performed on liver tissues and myocardial tissues of APE rats. TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase biotin-dUTP nick end labeling) staining and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining were conducted to measure apoptosis and CyPA-CD147 expression in the myocardium, respectively. Inflammatory indices interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) were measured by ELISA in cardiac tissues. RT-qPCR and Western blot were performed to determine the expression levels of related genes. In addition, by dual luciferase reporter assay and RIP assay, the relationship between microRNA-145-5p and insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) was confirmed. In results: curcumin improved APE-induced myocardial injury, reduced myocardial tissue edema, and thrombus volume. It attenuated APE-induced myocardial inflammation and apoptosis, as well as reduced lung injury and pulmonary artery pressure. Curcumin promoted microRNA-145-5p expression in APE rat myocardium. MicroRNA-145-5p overexpression protected against APE-induced myocardial injury, and microRNA-145-5p silencing abolished the beneficial effects of curcumin in APE-induced myocardial injury. IRS1 was targeted by microRNA-145-5p. IRS1 silencing attenuated APE-induced myocardial injury, and enhanced therapeutic effect of curcumin on myocardial injury in APE rats. In conclusion, curcumin alleviates myocardial inflammation, apoptosis, and oxidative stress induced by APE by regulating microRNA-145-5p/IRS1 axis.

Additionally, the review investigates the responses of symbioses to invading arboviruses, providing insights into the dynamic reactions of these vital relationships to the presence of arboviruses.

Abstract
Atherosclerosis is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory disease that occurs in the arterial wall. Despite recent advancements in treatment aimed at improving efficacy and prolonging survival, atherosclerosis remains largely incurable. In this review, we discuss emerging single-cell sequencing techniques and their novel insights into atherosclerosis. We provide examples of single-cell profiling studies that reveal phenotypic characteristics of atherosclerosis plaques, blood, liver, and the intestinal tract. Additionally, we highlight the potential clinical applications of single-cell analysis and propose that combining this approach with other techniques can facilitate early diagnosis and treatment, leading to more accurate medical interventions.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical repair strategy for ischial tuberosity pressure ulcers based on the sinus tract condition and range of skin and soft tissue defects. Methods: The study was a retrospective observational study. From July 2017 to March 2023, 21 patients with stage Ⅲ or Ⅳ ischial tuberosity pressure ulcers who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, including 13 males and 8 females, aged 14-84 years. There were 31 ischial tuberosity pressure ulcers, with an area of 1.5 cm×1.0 cm-8.0 cm×6.0 cm. After en bloc resection and debridement, the range of skin and soft tissue defect was 6.0 cm×3.0 cm-15.0 cm×8.0 cm. According to the depth and size of sinus tract and range of skin and soft tissue defects on the wound after debridement, the wounds were repaired according to the following three conditions. (1) When there was no sinus tract or the sinus tract was superficial, with a skin and soft tissue defect range of 6.0 cm×3.0 cm-8.5 cm×6.5 cm, the wound was repaired by direct suture, Z-plasty, transfer of buttock local flap, or V-Y advancement of the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve nutrient vessel flap. (2) When the sinus tract was deep and small, with a skin and soft tissue defect range of 8.5 cm×4.5 cm-11.0 cm×6.5 cm, the wound was repaired by the transfer and filling of gracilis muscle flap followed by direct suture, or Z-plasty, or combined with transfer of inferior gluteal artery perforator flap. (3) When the sinus tract was deep and large, with a skin and soft tissue defect range of 7.5 cm×5.5 cm-15.0 cm×8.0 cm, the wound was repaired by the transfer and filling of gracilis muscle flap and gluteus maximus muscle flap transfer, followed by direct suture, Z-plasty, or combined with transfer of buttock local flap; and transfer and filling of biceps femoris long head muscle flap combined with rotary transfer of the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve nutrient vessel flap; and filling of the inferior gluteal artery perforator adipofascial flap transfer combined with V-Y advancement of the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve nutrient vessel flap. A total of 7 buttock local flaps with incision area of 8.0 cm×6.0 cm-19.0 cm×16.0 cm, 21 gracilis muscle flaps with incision area of 18.0 cm×3.0 cm-24.0 cm×5.0 cm, 9 inferior gluteal artery perforator flaps or inferior gluteal artery perforator adipofascial flaps with incision area of 8.5 cm×6.0 cm-13.0 cm×7.5 cm, 10 gluteal maximus muscle flaps with incision area of 8.0 cm×5.0 cm-13.0 cm×7.0 cm, 2 biceps femoris long head muscle flaps with incision area of 17.0 cm×3.0 cm and 20.0 cm×5.0 cm, and 5 posterior femoral cutaneous nerve nutrient vessel flaps with incision area of 12.0 cm×6.5 cm-21.0 cm×10.0 cm were used. The donor area wounds were directly sutured. The survival of muscle flap, adipofascial flap, and flap, and wound healing in the donor area were observed after operation. The recovery of pressure ulcer and recurrence of patients were followed up. Results: After surgery, all the buttock local flaps, gracilis muscle flaps, gluteus maximus muscle flaps, inferior gluteal artery perforator adipofascial flaps, and biceps femoris long head muscle flaps survived well. In one case, the distal part of one posterior femoral cutaneous nerve nutrient vessel flap was partially necrotic, and the wound was healed after dressing changes. In another patient, bruises developed in the distal end of inferior gluteal artery perforator flap. It was somewhat relieved after removal of some sutures, but a small part of the necrosis was still present, and the wound was healed after bedside debridement and suture. The other posterior femoral cutaneous nerve nutrient vessel flaps and inferior gluteal artery perforator flaps survived well. In one patient, the wound at the donor site caused incision dehiscence due to postoperative bleeding in the donor area. The wound was healed after debridement+Z-plasty+dressing change. The wounds in the rest donor areas of patients were healed well. After 3 to 15 months of follow-up, all the pressure ulcers of patients were repaired well without recurrence. Conclusions: After debridement of ischial tuberosity pressure ulcer, if there is no sinus tract formation or sinus surface is superficial, direct suture, Z-plasty, buttock local flap, or V-Y advancement repair of posterior femoral cutaneous nerve nutrient vessel flap can be selected according to the range of skin and soft tissue defects. If the sinus tract of the wound is deep, the proper tissue flap can be selected to fill the sinus tract according to the size of sinus tract and range of the skin and soft tissue defects, and then the wound can be closed with individualized flap to obtain good repair effect.

Abstract
Objectives: To investigate the value of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in the diagnosis of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) in patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) . Methods: The data of 98 patients with suspected pulmonary infection after allo-HSCT who underwent pathogen detection from bronchoalveolar lavage fluid between June 2016 and August 2023 at Nanfang Hospital were analyzed. The diagnostic performance of mNGS, conventional methods, and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) for PJP were compared. Results: A total of 12 patients were diagnosed with PJP, including 11 with a proven diagnosis and 1 with a probable diagnosis. Among the patients with a proven diagnosis, 1 was positive by both conventional methods and qPCR, and 10 were positive by qPCR only. Pneumocystis jirovecii was detected by mNGS in all 12 patients. The diagnostic sensitivity of mNGS for PJP was 100%, which was greater than that of conventional methods (8.3%, P=0.001) and similar to that of qPCR (91.6%, P=1.000) . A total of 75% of the patients developed mixed pulmonary infections, and cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus were the most common pathogens. Mixed infection was detected in eight patients by mNGS and in five patients by qPCR, but not by conventional methods (P=0.008) . Conclusions: mNGS had good sensitivity for diagnosing PJP after allo-HSCT and was advantageous for detecting mixed infectious pathogens; therefore, mNGS might be an effective supplement to regular detection methods and qPCR.

Abstract
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of intestinal inflammatory diseases characterized by chronic, recurrent, remitting, or progressive inflammation, which causes the disturbance of the homeostasis between immune cells, such as macrophages, epithelial cells, and microorganisms. Intestinal macrophages (IMs) are the largest population of macrophages in the body, and the abnormal function of IMs is an important cause of IBD. Most IMs come from the replenishment of blood monocytes, while a small part come from embryos and can self-renew. Stimulated by the intestinal inflammatory microenvironment, monocyte-derived IMs can interact with intestinal epithelial cells, intestinal fibroblasts, and intestinal flora, resulting in the increased differentiation of proinflammatory phenotypes and the decreased differentiation of anti-inflammatory phenotypes, releasing a large number of proinflammatory factors and aggravating intestinal inflammation. Based on this mechanism, inhibiting the secretion of IMs' proinflammatory factors and enhancing the differentiation of anti-inflammatory phenotypes can help alleviate intestinal inflammation and promote tissue repair. At present, the clinical medication of IBD mainly includes 5-aminosalicylic acids (5-ASAs), glucocorticoid, immunosuppressants, and TNF-α inhibitors. The general principle of treatment is to control acute attacks, alleviate the condition, reduce recurrence, and prevent complications. Most classical IBD therapies affecting IMs function in a variety of ways, such as inhibiting the inflammatory signaling pathways and inducing IM2-type macrophage differentiation. This review explores the current understanding of the involvement of IMs in the pathogenesis of IBD and their prospects as therapeutic targets.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-ag) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were explored to serve as biomarkers to predict the prognosis of cervical cancer (CC) patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) prior to radical surgery, with the aim of identifying the subgroup that least benefits from the combined therapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS All patients were treated with NACT prior to radical surgery and received MRI and SCC-ag examinations before and after NACT. For these three cycles of NACT, patients were treated with intravenous paclitaxel at 150 mg/m2 over a period of 3 hours and carboplatin, with the area under the sera concentration-time curve of 5 over a period of 30 minutes on the first day of each cycle. Meanwhile, the blood pressure, ECG, and blood oxygen saturation of the patients were observed during the infusion. A discovery cohort and a validation cohort were applied to examine the prognostic performance of SCC-ag, MRI, and their combination. The endpoints of our study were overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). RESULTS A total of 384 patients diagnosed between August 2006 and December 2010 were enrolled in our research, with 206 patients in the discovery cohort and 178 patients in the validation cohort. The high-risk group identified by MRI had a worse OS [hazard ratio (HR), 3.567; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.466-8.677; log-rank p=0.0027) and PFS (HR, 4.062; 95% CI, 2.171-7.6; log-rank p<0.0001) than the low-risk group. Meanwhile, the SCC-RC could serve as a strong prognostic factor to predict OS (HR, 5.614; 95% CI, 2.473-12.744; log-rank p<0.0001) and PFS (HR, 7.481; 95% CI, 4.194-13.344; log-rank p<0.0001) for CC. In addition, the combined MRI and SCC-ag had greater prognostic efficiency and were used to divide the whole patient population into three groups. Compared with patients in the low-risk group, patients in the high-risk group had a worse OS (HR, 8.216; 95% CI, 2.98-22.651; log-rank p<0.0001) and PFS (HR, 11.757; 95% CI, 5.735-24.104; log-rank p<0.0001). Multivariate analyses revealed that MRI, SCC-ag, and their combination were independent prognostic factors. CONCLUSIONS SCC-ag and MRI, individually or in combination, were bound up with OS and PFS in CC. Additionally, the predictive efficiency improved when SCC-ag and MRI were combined in a risk model that predicted the OS and PFS of SCC compared with the predictive efficiency of either SCC-ag or MRI alone, revealing that the combination of these two biomarkers could help to ameliorate prognostic stratification and to guide personalized therapy for SCC patients.

Abstract
Although epidemiological studies have evaluated the association between ambient air pollution and chronic kidney disease (CKD), the results remain mixed. To clarify the nature of the association, we conducted a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the global relationship between air pollution and CKD. The Web of Science, PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library databases systematically were searched for studies published up to July 2023 and included 32 studies that met specific criteria. The random effects model was used to derive overall risk estimates for each pollutant. The meta-analysis estimated odds ratio (ORs) of risk for CKD were 1.42 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.31-1.54) for each 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5 ; 1.20 (95% CI: 1.14-1.26) for each 10 μg/m3 increase in PM10 ; 1.07 (95% CI: 1.05-1.09) for each 10 μg/m3 increase in NO2 ; 1.03 (95% CI: 1.02-1.03) for each 10 μg/m3 increase in NOX ; 1.07 (95% CI: 1.01-1.12) for each 1 ppb increase in SO2 ; 1.03 (95% CI: 1.00-1.05) for each 0.1 ppm increase in CO. Subgroup analysis showed that this effect varied by gender ratio, age, study design, exposure assessment method, and income level. Furthermore, PM2.5 , PM10 , and NO2 had negative effects on CKD even within the World Health Organization-recommended acceptable concentrations. Our results further confirmed the adverse effect of air pollution on the risk of CKD. These findings can contribute to enhance the awareness of the importance of reducing air pollution among public health officials and policymakers.

Abstract
Arsenic exposure has been closely linked to hepatic insulin resistance (IR) and ferroptosis with the mechanism elusive. Peroxisome proliferator γ-activated receptor coactivator 1-α (PGC-1α) is essential for glucose metabolism as well as for the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, it was unclear whether there is a regulatory connection between PGC-1α and ferroptosis. Besides, the definitive mechanism of arsenic-induced hepatic IR progression remains to be determined. Here, we found that hepatic insulin sensitivity impaired by sodium arsenite (NaAsO2) could be reversed by inhibiting ferroptosis. Mechanistically, we found that PGC-1α suppression inhibited the protein expression of glutathione s-transferase kappa 1 (GSTK1) via nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1), thereby increasing ROS accumulation and promoting ferroptosis. Furthermore, we showed that NaAsO2 induced hepatic IR and ferroptosis via methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14) and YTH domain-containing family protein 2 (YTHDF2)-mediated N6-methyladenosine (m6A) of PGC-1α mRNA. In conclusion, NaAsO2-mediated PGC-1α suppression was m6A methylation-dependent and induced ferroptosis via the PGC-1α/NRF1/GSTK1 pathway in hepatic IR. The data might provide insight into potential targets for diabetes prevention and treatment.

Abstract
Objectives: To verify the reliability and validity of the frailty assessment scale for elderly patients with inguinal hernia and to evaluate the value of its clinical application. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to collect 129 geriatric patients who underwent inguinal hernia surgery from January 2018 to January 2023 in nine hospitals in Liaoning Province. There were 120 males and 9 females, of whom 89 patients were 60 to <75 years old, 33 patients were 75 to <85 years old and 7 patients were ≥85 years old. The 129 patients included 11 elderly patients with inguinal hernia who had recovered from preoperative infection with COVID-19. Statistical methods such as Cronbach's coefficient, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, Bartlett's test, Pearson's correlation analysis, etc. were calculated to verify the reliability indexes such as feasibility, content validity, structural validity, criterion-related validity, internal consistency reliability, and re-test reliability. Taking the 5-item modified frailty index (5-mFI) as the gold standard, the area under the curve was used to analyze the ability of the two scales to predict the occurrence of postoperative acute urinary retention, postoperative delirium, poor incision healing, operative hematoma seroma, and postoperative complications. Results: The frailty assessment scale for elderly patients with inguinal hernia showed good reliability and validity (valid completion rate of 99.2%; item content validity index of 1.000, and the scale content validity index of 1.000; exploratory factor analysis extracted a total of 1 principal component, and factor loadings of each item of 0.565 to 0.873; the AUC for frailty diagnosis using 5-mFI as the gold standard of 0.795 (P<0.01) Cronbach's coefficient of 0.916, retest reliability coefficient of 0.926), it could effectively predict postoperative acute urinary retention, delirium, hematoma seroma in the operative area and total complications (AUC of 0.746, 0.870, 0.806, and 0.738, respectively; all P<0.05), and prediction efficiency was higher than that of 5-mFI (AUC of 0.694, 0.838, 0.626 and 0.641, P<0.05 for delirium only), but both scales were inaccurate in predicting poor incision healing (AUC of 0.519, P=0.913 for the frailty assessment scale and 0.455, P=0.791 for the 5-mFI). Conclusions: The frailty assessment scale for elderly patients with inguinal hernia is reliable and significantly predicts the occurrence of postoperative adverse events in elderly inguinal hernia patients. The scale can also be used for preoperative frailty assessment in elderly patients with inguinal hernia after rehabilitation from COVID-19 infection.

Abstract
Intangible cultural heritage (ICH) terms are unique expressions of cultural knowledge and practices that are deeply rooted in a particular region or community. Accurately translating ICH terms is crucial for sharing this knowledge and promoting cross-cultural understanding. However, the complex nature of ICH terms, including their regional and cultural specificity, means that mistranslations can easily occur during the translation process. In addition to linguistic and cultural barriers, psychological factors can also impact the accuracy of translations. Translation psychology, a new discipline that examines the psychological process of bilingual conversion and its cognitive mechanisms, can provide insights into the translation of ICH terms. This paper proposes an information processing model of translating ICH terms based on translation psychology, which examines the psychological processes of translators during the translation of Chinese ICH terms into English. Through questionnaires and translation exercises, the study compares and analyzes the psychological activity process of the translators, verifies the expression of translation psychology in the translation of ICH terms, and identifies the characteristics of students' translations. The study's subjects were non-English major sophomores with diverse academic backgrounds, randomly sampled from a representative polytechnic university in Guangdong. The findings of this study are significant for improving the quality of translations and promoting cross-cultural understanding of ICH terms. By understanding the psychological factors involved in the translation of ICH terms, we can overcome language and cultural barriers and accurately convey the rich cultural heritage embodied in these terms.

Abstract
Insulin growth factor‑1 (IGF‑1) is an endocrine regulator that plays an important role in normal growth and development. IGF‑1 mediated effects may result in protecting macrophages from immunometabolic response. However, it is unclear whether IGF‑1 has a protective effect on fatty acid‑induced macrophages damage. In the present study, THP‑1 cells were differentiated into macrophages and stimulated with palmitic acid (PA) in the absence or presence of IGF‑1. Macrophages apoptosis was measured by Cell Counting Kit‑8 assay, flow cytometry, Hoechst 33342 staining and western blotting. The mitochondrial damage was evaluated using JC‑1 staining and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species detection. The activation of mitophagy was assessed using immunofluorescence and western blotting. As a result, IGF‑1 significantly restored the survival rate in macrophages, while the apoptosis was inhibited through mitochondrial pathway. In addition, IGF‑1 protected the mitochondrial damage induced by PA. Furthermore, PA induced mitophagy via phosphatase and tensin homolog‑induced putative kinase protein 1/Parkin, which was reversed by IGF‑1. Taken together, the present study demonstrated the protective effect of IGF‑1 on PA‑induced mitochondrial apoptosis in macrophages, which might provide a potential therapeutic strategy for treatment of lipotoxicity.

Abstract
AIM To develop a deep-learning model to help general dental practitioners diagnose periodontitis accurately and at an early stage. MATERIALS AND METHODS First, the panoramic radiographs (PARs) from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University were input into the convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture to establish the PAR-CNN model for healthy controls and periodontitis patients. Then, the PARs from the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were included in the second testing set to validate the effectiveness of the model with data from two centres. Heat maps were produced using a gradient-weighted class activation mapping method to visualise the regions of interest of the model. The accuracy and time required to read the PARs were compared between the model, periodontal experts, and general dental practitioners. Areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUCs) were used to evaluate the performance of the model. RESULTS The AUC of the PAR-CNN model was 0.843, and the AUC of the second test set was 0.793. The heat map showed that the regions of interest predicted by the model were periodontitis bone lesions. The accuracy of the model, periodontal experts, and general dental practitioners was 0.800, 0.813, and 0.693, respectively. The time required to read each PAR by periodontal experts (6.042 ± 1.148 seconds) and general dental practitioners (13.105 ± 3.153 seconds), which was significantly longer than the time required by the model (0.027 ± 0.002 seconds). CONCLUSION The ability of the CNN model to diagnose periodontitis approached the level of periodontal experts. Deep-learning methods can assist general dental practitioners to diagnose periodontitis quickly and accurately.

Abstract
Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), as a common endocrine disrupting chemicals, can induce toxicity to reproductive system. However, the mechanism remains to be explored. In our study, DEHP exposure induced testicular injury in rats. The high throughput transcriptional sequencing was performed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the treatment and control groups. KEGG analysis revealed that DEGs were enriched in apoptosis, PPARα, and ER stress pathway. DEHP up-regulated the expression of PPARα, Bax, Bim, caspase-4. GRP78, PERK, p-PERK, eIF2α, p-eIF2α, ATF4 and CHOP. This view has also been confirmed in TM3 and TM4 cells. In vitro, after pre-treatment with GW6471 (an inhibitor of PPARα) or GSK (an inhibitor of PERK), the apoptosis was inhibited and mitochondrial dysfunction was improved. Moreover, the improvement of mitochondrial dysfunction decreased the expression of PERK pathway by using SS-31(a protective agent for mitochondrial function). Interestingly, ER stress promoted the accumulation of ROS by ERO1L (the downstream of CHOP during ER stress), and the ROS further aggravated the ER stress, thus forming a feedback loop during the apoptosis. In this process, a vicious cycle consisting of PERK, eIF2α, ATF4, CHOP, ERO1L, ROS was involved. Taken together, our results suggested that mitochondrial dysfunction and ER stress-ROS feedback loop caused by PPARα activation played a crucial role in DEHP-induced apoptosis. This work provides insight into the mechanism of DEHP-induced reproductive toxicity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Previous observational studies reported an association of diabetes mellitus (DM) with oropharyngeal cancer (OPC), however, the potential causality of the association between them remains unclear. METHODS To explore this causal relationship in individuals of European descent, a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study was conducted. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) of DM was used to represent the exposure factor (T1DM: n = 24,840; T2DM: n = 215,654), and GWAS of OPC represented the outcome (n = 3,448). RESULTS Forty-one single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) related to T1DM and fifty-four SNPs related to T2DM were identified as effective instrumental variables (IVs) in the two-sample MR analyses. In IVW estimates, neither T1DM nor T2DM significantly contributed to an increased risk of OPC [T1DM: OR 1.0322 (95% CI 0.9718, 1.0963), P = 0.3033; T2DM: OR 0.9998 (95% CI 0.9995, 1.0002), P = 0.2858]. Four other regression models produced similar results. MR-Egger regression results [Cochran's Q statistic was 47.1544 (P = 0.1466) in T1DM, and 35.5084 (P = 0.9512) in T2DM] suggested no horizontal pleiotropy between IVs and outcomes. CONCLUSION Our findings suggest little evidence to support the genetic role of diabetes mellitus in OPC development in the European population.

Abstract
Four metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were designed and prepared through a mixed-ligand strategy by controlling the combination of various dicarboxylic acid ligands with invariant center metal and o-phenanthroline heterocyclic ligand. The regulatory effects of ligand electronic band and crystal structure on the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) characteristics of MOFs were verified by experimental results and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The flexible chain structure of MOF-2 promotes electron transfer between MOF electroactive free radicals and the co-reactant, making it show outstanding ECL characteristics among all of the four MOFs with the luminescence quantum efficiency 8.37 times that of tris(bipyridine)-ruthenium(II) ([Ru(bpy)3]2+). Meanwhile, a new ECL mechanism for MOF luminescent crystal materials with reactive oxygen species in solvents as a co-reactant in the aqueous aerobic environment has been proposed. MOF-2 was selected to construct an ECL sensor for the determination of glucose in human urine samples. This study provides a useful idea for the development and design of new luminescent molecular crystal materials.

Abstract
A high-fat diet (HFD) promotes metastasis through increased uptake of saturated fatty acids (SFAs). The fatty acid transporter CD36 has been implicated in this process, but a detailed understanding of CD36 function is lacking. During matrix detachment, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress reduces SCD1 protein, resulting in increased lipid saturation. Subsequently, CD36 is induced in a p38- and AMPK-dependent manner to promote preferential uptake of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), thereby maintaining a balance between SFAs and MUFAs. In attached cells, CD36 palmitoylation is required for MUFA uptake and protection from palmitate-induced lipotoxicity. In breast cancer mouse models, CD36-deficiency induced ER stress while diminishing the pro-metastatic effect of HFD, and only a palmitoylation-proficient CD36 rescued this effect. Finally, AMPK-deficient tumors have reduced CD36 expression and are metastatically impaired, but ectopic CD36 expression restores their metastatic potential. Our results suggest that, rather than facilitating HFD-driven tumorigenesis, CD36 plays a supportive role by preventing SFA-induced lipotoxicity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the key factors influencing intraoperative-acquired pressure injury (IAPI). METHODS Researchers assessed 413 surgical patients in a Shanghai tertiary hospital using an information collection form and an IAPI occurrence record form. Analysis took place using the classification and regression tree algorithm and multiple logistic regression. RESULTS A total of 43 surgical patients (10.4%) had IAPI, including 32 stage 1 cases (74.4%), and 11 stage 2 cases (25.6%). The multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that operation duration, surgical position, preoperative hypertension, and preoperative Braden Scale risk score were independently associated with IAPI development. The decision tree showed that preoperative Braden Scale score, surgical position, operation grade, operation duration, age, prealbumin level, and body mass index were important factors and that preoperative Braden Scale score was the most critical decision variable. The cross-validation method was used to indicate a model accuracy of 91.8%. CONCLUSIONS The decision tree effectively identified key factors for IAPI, complementing the logistic regression analysis and providing a scientific basis for the further development of structural risk assessment, prevention, and treatment strategies for IAPI.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The predictive values of cervix length (CL) measurement based on transvaginal ultrasonography (TVUS) and pathological examination of placenta for premature delivery (PTD) were investigated, and the correlation between PTD and infection was analyzed. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 120 pregnant women with PTD or high-risk factors for PTD admitted to Hengyang Maternal and Child Health Hospital, between February 2020 and March 2022 were included in this retrospective study. There were 36 subjects in the PTD group and 84 in the normal delivery group (control group). They underwent pathological examination of the placenta and TVUS for CL measurement. The final gestational age was set as the standard for the evaluation of the predictive values of pathological examination of the placenta and TVUS. Moreover, a pathological examination of the placenta was used to analyze the correlation between PTD and infection. RESULTS The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of joint inspection were remarkably superior to those of single CL or pathological examination of the placenta (p<0.05). The proportion of pregnant women with CL ≤30 mm and positive placental pathology was higher than that of pregnant women with CL >30 mm and negative placental pathology (p<0.05). In addition, the incidence of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU), Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), and chorioamnionitis (CA) in the vaginal discharge of the PTD group was markedly superior to that of the control group (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The combination of CL ≤30 mm and positive placental pathology could effectively predict PTD, and placental infection was notably correlated with the occurrence of PTD.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between sarcopenia and abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. MHD patients who underwent regular dialysis between January 2021 and January 2022 at hemodialysis center in Jiangdu People's Hospital Affiliated to Yangzhou University were enrolled. The incidence of sarcopenia in these patients was examined by measuring handgrip strength, gait speed and appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (ASMI) using bioelectrical impedance analysis. AAC score was measured by a lateral lumbar spinal radiograph. The general information of the patients was collected and the blood biochemical indexes were detected. These patients were divided into non-calcification group (n=104) and calcification group (n=127) according to the score of AAC. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the related factors of AAC. Results: A total of 231 MHD patients (134 males and 97 females) were enrolled in the study, with the mean age of (57.1±11.4) years. Among 231 hemodialysis patients, the incidence of sarcopenia and AAC were 46.3% (107 cases) and 55.0% (127 cases), respectively. The age [(60.2±11.1) vs (53.4±12.2) years, P<0.001] and dialysis vintage [86 (46, 135) vs 57 (27, 109) months, P=0.005] in calcification group were longer than these in the non-calcification group. The level of 25(OH)D3 [17.7 (13.5, 24.3) vs 20.5 (15.1, 28.1) μg/L, P=0.008] and gait speed [(0.88±0.23) vs (1.01±0.20) m/s, P=0.024], handgrip strength [(17.9±9.1) vs (20.7±9.9) kg, P=0.013], ASMI [(6.65±2.24) vs (7.83±2.46) kg/m2, P<0.001] were lower. While, AAC score [12 (9, 19) vs 0 (0, 3), P<0.001] and the incidence of sarcopenia [58.3% (74/127) vs 31.7% (33/104), P<0.001] were higher in the calcification group than these in the non-calcification group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that sarcopenia (OR=1.928, 95%CI: 1.302-2.855, P=0.001), decrease of 25(OH)D3 level (OR=0.969, 95%CI: 0.940-1.000, P=0.047), age (OR=1.043, 95%CI: 1.015-1.072, P=0.002), and dialysis vintage (OR=1.009, 95%CI: 1.004-1.015, P=0.001) were related factors of AAC. Conclusions: Sarcopenia is associated with AAC in MHD patients. In clinical practice, attention should be paid to sarcopenia in MHD patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Survival rates for women with metastatic cervical cancer (CC) are low, with limited management options. Radiation therapy (RT) for metastatic disease has led to prolonged survival in other malignancies, however, the data are scarce in CC. Herein, we evaluated the effect of RT for metastatic CC. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 58 patients with metastatic CC between September 2019 and January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. All the patients were treated with platinum-based chemotherapy combined with targeted therapy or immunotherapy followed with or without RT (NRT). The recent efficacy, survival status and prognostic factors were analyzed statistically. RESULTS Objective response rate (ORR) was 63.6% with one complete and twenty partial responses in RT group (n = 33) and 40.0% with two complete and eight partial responses in NRT group (n = 25), respectively (p = 0.074). Disease control rate (DCR) of the RT and NRT groups were 79.4% vs 80.0%, respectively (p = 0.861). Median follow-up time was 17 months (3-39months). In RT group, 11(33.3%) patients experienced local regional or distant failure and 9 (27.3%) patients were dead. In NRT group, 15(60%) patients had progression and 8 (32%) patients dead. There was no significant difference between the two groups in overall survival (OS); however, RT group displayed superior progression-free survival (PFS) (1-year OS: 72.7% vs. 68.0%, p = 0.460; 1-year PFS: 66.7% vs. 40.0%, p = 0.039). The multivariate analysis showed that RT, immunotherapy, lymph node metastasis only relevant predictor of superior PFS but not OS. In subgroup analysis, patients treated with RT appeared to have a better PFS in some specific cohorts, such as age>45 years (72.0% vs 36.4% P = 0.015), squamous carcinoma histology (71.0% vs 40.9% P = 0.017), metastatic at diagnosis (75.0% vs 47.6% P = 0.012), non-targeted therapy (72.4% vs 43.8% P = 0.040). No significant increase in treatment-related toxicity was observed in the RT group compared with the NRT group. CONCLUSION RT provided superior PFS in metastatic CC patients compared to NRT, and well tolerated. Moreover, RT, immunotherapy, lymph node metastasis only were independent significant prognostic factors for PFS. Subgroup analysis showed that combination of RT and chemotherapy obtained favorable PFS in metastatic CC patients with age>45 years, squamous carcinoma histology, metastatic at diagnosis, non-targeted therapy. Studies with a larger sample size and longer follow-up are warranted.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Limited stage small-cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC) is associated with poor prognosis. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of high-dose, hyperfractionated thoracic radiotherapy of 54 Gy in 30 fractions compared with standard dose (45 Gy in 30 fractions) as a first-line treatment for LS-SCLC. MATERIALS/METHODS The study was an open-label, randomized, phase 3 trial, done at 16 public hospitals in China. Key inclusion criteria were patients aged 18-70 years, with previously histologically or cytologically confirmed LS-SCLC, previously untreated or received 1-2 courses of intravenous cisplatin (75 mg/m²of body-surface area, on day 1 or divided into two days of each cycle) or carboplatin (area under the curve of 5 mg/mL per min, day 1 of each cycle)and intravenous etoposide (100 mg/m²of body-surface area, on days 1-3 of each cycle), and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status of 0-1.Eligible patients were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive volumetric-modulated arc radiotherapy (VMAT) of 45 Gy in 30 fractions or the simultaneous integrated boost VMAT (SIB-VMAT) of 54 Gy in 30 fractions to the primary lung tumor and lymph node metastases starting 0-42 days after the first chemotherapy course. Both groups of patients received thoracic radiotherapy twice per day and 10 fractions per week. Prophylactic cranial radiation (PCI, 25 Gy in 10 fractions) was implemented to patients with responsive disease. The primary endpoint was overall survival. Safety was analyzed in the as-treated population. RESULTS Between June 30, 2017, and April 6, 2021, 224 eligible patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to 54 Gy (n = 108) or 45 Gy (n = 116). Median follow-up for the primary analysis was 45 months (IQR 41-48). Median overall survival was significantly improved in the 54 Gy group (62.4 months) compared with the 45 Gy group (43.1 months; p = 0.001). Median progression-free survival was significantly improved in the 54 Gy group (30.5 months) compared with the 45 Gy group (16.7 months; p = 0.044). The most common grade 3-4 adverse events were neutropenia (30 [28%] of 108 patients in the 54 Gy group vs 27 [23%] of 116 patients in the 45 Gy group), neutropenic infections (6 [6%] vs 2 [2%]), thrombocytopenia (13 [12%] vs 12 [10%]), anemia (6 [6%] vs 4 [3%]), and esophagitis (1 [1%] vs 3 [3%]). Treatment-related serious adverse events occurred in 9 [8%] patients in the 54 Gy group and 16 [14%] patients in the 45 Gy group. There were one treatment-related deaths in 54 Gy group (myocardial infarction). CONCLUSION Compared with standard thoracic radiotherapy dose of 45 Gy, the high dose of 54 Gy improved overall survival and progression-free survival without increasing toxicities in patients with LS-SCLC, supporting twice-daily hyperfractionated thoracic radiotherapy of 54 Gy with concurrent chemotherapy is an alternative treatment option for LS-SCLC. Abstract
Prolonged exposure to arsenic can cause nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome plays an essential role in the process of NASH. However, the mechanism by which arsenic promotes NLRP3 expression remains unclear. Three-month NaAsO2 gavage led to the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway activation and NASH. Additionally, NaAsO2 upregulated the level of Filamin A (FLNA) and pyroptosis, thereby activating the NLRP3 inflammasome in SD rat liver. Using FLNA siRNA, NASH-associated inflammation and pyroptosis were clearly mitigated by reducing activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Furthermore, arsenic treatment facilitated activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway and promoted p-p65 translocation into the nucleus. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (Ch-IP) assay indicated that FLNA promoted p65 binding to the NLRP3 gene and upregulated the transcription of NLRP3, ultimately leading to pyroptosis and NASH. Our findings indicate that FLNA and pyroptosis are strongly associated with NASH induced by NaAsO2. Collectively, the findings of this study indicated that FLNA mediates NF-κB signaling pathway-induced activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and ultimately activates pyroptosis and NASH upon NaAsO2 exposure. This information may be useful for improving therapeutic strategies against arsenic-induced NASH.

Abstract
AIMS To construct and validate an intraoperative hypothermia risk prediction model for elderly patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). METHODS We collected data from 718 patients undergoing THA in a tertiary hospital from January 2021 to December 2022. Of these patients, 512 were assigned to the modeling group from January 2021 to April 2022, and 206 participants were assigned to the validation group from May 2022 to December 2022. A logistic regression analysis was performed to construct the model. The area under the curve (AUC) was used to test the model's predictive ability. RESULTS The incidence rate of intraoperative hypothermia was 51.67%. The risk factors entered into the risk prediction model were age, preoperative hemoglobin level, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hemoglobin level, and postoperative systolic blood pressure. The model was constructed as follows: logit (P) = - 10.118 + 0.174 × age + 1.366 × 1 (preoperative hemoglobin level) + 0.555 × 1 (postoperative hemoglobin level) + 0.009 × 1 (intraoperative blood loss) + 0.066 × 1 (postoperative systolic blood pressure). Using the Hosmer-Lemeshow test, the P value was 0.676 (AUC, 0.867). The Youden index, sensitivity, and specificity were 0.602, 0.790, and 0.812, respectively. The incidence rates of intraoperative hypothermia in the modeling and validation groups were 53.15% and 48.06%, respectively. The correct practical application rate was 89.81%. This model had good application potential. CONCLUSIONS This risk prediction model has good predictive value and can accurately predict the occurrence of intraoperative hypothermia in patients who undergo THA, which provides reliable guidance for clinical work and has good clinical application value.

However, the relationship between m6A methylation and arsenic-induced hepatic insulin resistance (IR), which is a critical initiating event in arsenic-induced metabolic syndromes such as type 2 diabetes (T2D) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), remains unclear. Here, we showed that arsenic treatment facilitated methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14)-mediated m6A methylation, and that METTL14 interference reversed arsenic-impaired hepatic insulin sensitivity. We previously showed that arsenic-induced NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation contributed to hepatic IR. However, the regulatory mechanisms underlying the role of arsenic toward the post-transcriptional modification of NLRP3 remain unclear. Here, we showed that NLRP3 mRNA stability was enhanced by METTL14-mediated m6A methylation during arsenic-induced hepatic IR. Furthermore, we demonstrated that arsenite methyltransferase (AS3MT), an essential enzyme in arsenic metabolic processes, interacted with NLRP3 to activate the inflammasome, thereby contributing to arsenic-induced hepatic IR. Also, AS3MT strengthened the m6A methylase association with NLRP3 to stabilize m6A-modified NLRP3. In summary, we showed that AS3MT-induced m6A modification critically regulated NLRP3 inflammasome activation during arsenic-induced hepatic IR, and we identified a novel post-transcriptional function of AS3MT in promoting arsenicosis.

Abstract
AIM The purpose of this study was to construct a core competencies evaluation index system for critical care blood purification nurses in China. BACKGROUND While nursing is an integral part of critical care blood purification treatment, there are no established indicators to evaluate the core competencies of critical care blood purification nurses. DESIGN A Delphi study. METHODS An initial draft of the competencies evaluation index system for critical care blood purification nurses was developed through a literature review and semi-structured interviews. From February 2023 to March 2023, a two-round Delphi survey was conducted to consult with 18 experts in the field of critical care blood purification from eight provinces in China to rate the importance of each item and propose modifications to the evaluation index system. RESULTS The effective questionnaire recovery rates in two rounds of expert consultation were 94.4 % and 94.1 % and the average expert authority coefficients were 0.88 in both rounds. The core competencies evaluation index system of critical care blood purification nurses consisted of 39 items in five domains, namely theoretical knowledge, practical skills, professional development capability, critical thinking ability and personal qualities and attributes. The Kendall's W coefficients for the first- and second-level indicators were.21 and.20 in the first round and.23 and.25, respectively, in the second round of consultations (p < .01). CONCLUSION The core competencies evaluation index system of critical care blood purification nurses is scientific and reliable and can provide references for the recruitment, training and management of critical care blood purification nurses.

Abstract
We report the first measurement of flux-integrated double-differential quasielasticlike neutrino-argon cross sections, which have been made using the Booster Neutrino Beam and the MicroBooNE detector at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The data are presented as a function of kinematic imbalance variables which are sensitive to nuclear ground-state distributions and hadronic reinteraction processes. We find that the measured cross sections in different phase-space regions are sensitive to different nuclear effects. Therefore, they enable the impact of specific nuclear effects on the neutrino-nucleus interaction to be isolated more completely than was possible using previous single-differential cross section measurements. Our results provide precision data to help test and improve neutrino-nucleus interaction models. They further support ongoing neutrino-oscillation studies by establishing phase-space regions where precise reaction modeling has already been achieved.

Abstract
Precise identification and spatial analysis of land salinity in China's Yellow River Delta are essential for the rational utilization and sustainable development of land resources. However, the accurate retrieval model construction for monitoring land salinity remains challenging. This study constructed a land salinity retrieval framework using a harmonized UAV and Landsat-9 multi-spectral dataset. The Kenli district of the Yellow River Delta was selected as the case study area, and a land salinity monitoring index (LSMI) was proposed based on field survey data and UAV multi-spectral image and applied to the reflectance-corrected Landsat-9 OLI image. The land salinity distribution patterns were then mapped and spatially analyzed using Moran's I and Getis-Ord GI* analysis. The results demonstrated the following: (1) The LSMI-based method can accurately retrieve land salinity content with a validation determination coefficient (R2), root mean square error (RMSE), and residual predictive deviation (RPD) of 0.75, 1.89, and 2.11, respectively. (2) Land salinization affected 93.12% of the cultivated land in the study area, and the severely saline soil grade (with a salinity content of 6-8 g/kg) covered 38.41% of the total cultivated land area and was widely distributed throughout the study area. (3) Saline land exhibited a positive spatial autocorrelation with a value of 0.311 at the p = 0.000 level; high-high cluster types occurred mainly in the Kendong and Huanghekou towns (80%), while low-low cluster types were mainly located in the Dongji, Haojia, Kenli, and Shengtuo towns (88.46%). The spatial characteristics of various salinity grades exhibit significant variations, and conducting separate spatial analyses is recommended for future studies.
