Abstract
The first measurement of the cross section for incoherent photonuclear production of J/ψ vector mesons as a function of the Mandelstam |t| variable is presented. The measurement was carried out with the ALICE detector at midrapidity, |y|<0.8, using ultraperipheral collisions of Pb nuclei at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. This rapidity interval corresponds to a Bjorken-x range (0.3-1.4)×10^{-3}. Cross sections are given in five |t| intervals in the range 0.04<|t|<1 GeV^{2} and compared to the predictions by different models. Models that ignore quantum fluctuations of the gluon density in the colliding hadron predict a |t| dependence of the cross section much steeper than in data. The inclusion of such fluctuations in the same models provides a better description of the data.

Abstract
It is crucial to establish appropriate background concentrations to discern heavy metal pollution in the marine environment. In this study, we analyzed heavy metals in deep-sea sediment cores to determine regional background concentrations at the East-Sea Byeong Ocean dumping site. The vertical profiles of heavy metals were categorized into three groups based on their contamination characteristics, and regional background levels for 12 metals were determined using pre-1900 averages. The enrichment factor, contamination factor, and pollution load index, calculated using regional background concentrations, indicated significant contamination by Cr, Co, Cu, Zn, Cd, Hg, and Pb during the ocean dumping period. These results differ from those obtained using global average concentrations. This underscores the importance of considering regional characteristics to minimize the risk of misinterpreting anthropogenic impacts. The approach based on local information is considered useful when sediment quality guidelines are absent or inapplicable.

Abstract
Patients with critical illnesses are at higher risk of comorbidities, which can include bone mineral density loss, bone turnover marker increase, and fragility fractures. Patients admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) have a higher risk of bone fractures. Since hypermetabolism is a characteristic of ICU patients, such patients are often rapidly affected by systemic deterioration, which often results in systemic wasting disease. Major risk factors for ICU-related bone loss include physical restraint, inflammation, neuroendocrine stress, malnutrition, and medications. A medical history of critical illness should be acknowledged as a risk factor for impaired bone metabolism. Bone loss associated with ICU admission should be recognized as a key component of post-intensive care syndrome, and further research that focuses on treatment protocols and prevention strategies is required. Studies aimed at maintaining gut integrity have emphasized protein administration and nutrition, while research is ongoing to evaluate the therapeutic benefits of anti-resorptive agents and physical therapy. This review examines both current and innovative clinical strategies that are used for identifying risk factors of bone loss. It provides an overview of perioperative outcomes and discusses the emerging novel treatment modalities. Furthermore, the review presents future directions in the treatment of ICU-related bone loss.

Abstract
Understanding the role of parton mass and Casimir color factors in the quantum chromodynamics parton shower represents an important step in characterizing the emission properties of heavy quarks. Recent experimental advances in jet substructure techniques have provided the opportunity to isolate and characterize gluon emissions from heavy quarks. In this Letter, the first direct experimental constraint on the charm-quark splitting function is presented, obtained via the measurement of the groomed shared momentum fraction of the first splitting in charm jets, tagged by a reconstructed D^{0} meson. The measurement is made in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, in the low jet transverse-momentum interval of 15≤p_{T}^{jet ch}<30 GeV/c where the emission properties are sensitive to parton mass effects. In addition, the opening angle of the first perturbative emission of the charm quark, as well as the number of perturbative emissions it undergoes, is reported. Comparisons to measurements of an inclusive-jet sample show a steeper splitting function for charm quarks compared with gluons and light quarks. Charm quarks also undergo fewer perturbative emissions in the parton shower, with a reduced probability of large-angle emissions.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Daily online adaptive radiotherapy (ART) provides inter-fraction motion management of the luminal gastrointestinal (GI) structures when delivering abdominal SBRT. One potential drawback of ART is the time-consuming process, and intra-fraction GI changes from completion of the ART process to the end of treatment delivery have not been thoroughly evaluated. We explored intra-fraction bowel motion for patients receiving abdominal stereotactic adaptive radiotherapy (sART) MATERIALS/METHODS: Six patients with abdominal malignancies treated with CT-guided sART on a prospective feasibility trial had additional CBCT's acquired post-treatment (pTx-CBCT). All patients were prescribed to 50 Gy/5 fractions (fx), and the constraint for all GI OARs was V33≤0.5 cc. Time from initial CBCT (I-CBCT) used for adaptive planning to pTx-CBCT was collected. The luminal GI OAR (stomach (S), duodenum (D), small bowel (SB), and large bowel (LB)) were retrospectively contoured on pTx-CBCT. The OAR doses were compared between the I-CBCT and pTx-CBCT. The adaptive plan (PA) and initial plan (PI) doses were overlayed on the pTx-CBCT contours. The PA pTx-CBCT OAR doses were then compared to the PI pTx-CBCT OAR doses. A Boolean OAR structure of all GI OARs was evaluated to remove potential differences in structure definitions between providers. The T-test was used to compare differences in instances of D0.5cc ≥ 33 and 50 Gy. Patient charts were reviewed for grades (G) ≥ 3 toxicity. RESULTS Thirty fractions (fx) of sART were delivered and pTx-CBCT were acquired in 26 fx. Mean time from I-CBCT to pTx-CBCT acquisition was 66 min (38-98 min). On average at 0.5 cc the PA overdosed the S by 1.74 Gy based on pTx-CBCT anatomy compared to 2.35 Gy by the PI, the D by 0.47 Gy (PA) vs .84 Gy (PI), the SB by 1.14 Gy (PA) vs 1.43 Gy (PI), and the LB by 0.13 Gy (PA) vs 0.60 Gy (PI). The dose to the Boolean OAR structure was on average 2.51 Gy/fx higher than expected when overlaying the PA on the pTx-CBCT compared to 3.38 Gy/fx higher when overlaying the PI on the pTx-CBCT. There was no significant difference in the instance of the PA exceeding D0.5 cc ≥33 Gy vs the PI (p = 0.083), but the PA significantly reduced the instances of D0.5cc≥50 Gy (p = 0.001) compared to the PI. No patient experienced G≥3 toxicity at a median follow-up of 8 months (3-12). CONCLUSION These data demonstrate sART led to a significant decrease in dose to GI OARs, particularly for prescription dose or greater, even after accounting for intra-fractional bowel motion. While both the PI and the PA violated the V33 luminal GI OAR constraint in approximately ½ of pTx-CBCTs, the fraction of OARs receiving at least 50 Gy was significantly higher when overlaying the PI compared to the PA. While no G3 toxicities were reported in this small cohort, further studies are needed to characterize if the increased dose to GI OARs over the expected dose is clinically significant.

Abstract
The most precise measurements to date of the _{Λ}^{3}H lifetime τ and Λ separation energy B_{Λ} are obtained using the data sample of Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV collected by ALICE at the LHC. The _{Λ}^{3}H is reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel (_{Λ}^{3}H→^{3}He+π^{-} and the charge-conjugate process). The measured values τ=[253±11(stat)±6(syst)] ps and B_{Λ}=[102±63(stat)±67(syst)] keV are compatible with predictions from effective field theories and confirm that the _{Λ}^{3}H structure is consistent with a weakly bound system.

Abstract
Failure to direct axon regeneration to appropriate targets is a major barrier to restoring function after nerve injury. Development of strategies that can direct targeted regeneration of neurons such as retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) are needed to delay or reverse blindness in diseases like glaucoma. Here, we demonstrate that a new class of asymmetric, charge balanced (ACB) waveforms are effective at directing RGC axon growth, in vitro, without compromising cell viability. Unlike previously proposed direct current (DC) stimulation approaches, charge neutrality of ACB waveforms ensures the safety of stimulation while asymmetry ensures its efficacy. Furthermore, we demonstrate the relative influence of pulse amplitude and pulse width on the overall effectiveness of stimulation. This work can serve as a practical guideline for the potential deployment of electrical stimulation as a treatment strategy for nerve injury.

Abstract
The first measurement of event-by-event antideuteron number fluctuations in high energy heavy-ion collisions is presented. The measurements are carried out at midrapidity (|η|<0.8) as a function of collision centrality in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector. A significant negative correlation between the produced antiprotons and antideuterons is observed in all collision centralities. The results are compared with a state-of-the-art coalescence calculation. While it describes the ratio of higher order cumulants of the antideuteron multiplicity distribution, it fails to describe quantitatively the magnitude of the correlation between antiproton and antideuteron production. On the other hand, thermal-statistical model calculations describe all the measured observables within uncertainties only for correlation volumes that are different with respect to those describing proton yields and a similar measurement of net-proton number fluctuations.

Abstract
The transverse-momentum (p_{T}) spectra and coalescence parameters B_{2} of (anti)deuterons are measured in p-p collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV for the first time in and out of jets. In this measurement, the direction of the leading particle with the highest p_{T} in the event (p_{T}^{lead}>5 GeV/c) is used as an approximation for the jet axis. The event is consequently divided into three azimuthal regions, and the jet signal is obtained as the difference between the toward region, that contains jet fragmentation products in addition to the underlying event (UE), and the transverse region, which is dominated by the UE. The coalescence parameter in the jet is found to be approximately a factor of 10 larger than that in the underlying event. This experimental observation is consistent with the coalescence picture and can be attributed to the smaller average phase-space distance between nucleons in the jet cone as compared with the underlying event. The results presented in this Letter are compared to predictions from a simple nucleon coalescence model, where the phase-space distributions of nucleons are generated using pythia8 with the Monash 2013 tuning, and to predictions from a deuteron production model based on ordinary nuclear reactions with parametrized energy-dependent cross sections tuned on data. The latter model is implemented in pythia8.3. Both models reproduce the observed large difference between in-jet and out-of-jet coalescence parameters, although the almost flat trend of the B_{2}^{Jet} is not reproduced by the models, which instead give a decreasing trend.

Abstract
We present measurements of the cross section and double-helicity asymmetry A_{LL} of direct-photon production in p[over →]+p[over →] collisions at sqrt[s]=510 GeV. The measurements have been performed at midrapidity (|η|<0.25) with the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. At relativistic energies, direct photons are dominantly produced from the initial quark-gluon hard scattering and do not interact via the strong force at leading order. Therefore, at sqrt[s]=510 GeV, where leading-order-effects dominate, these measurements provide clean and direct access to the gluon helicity in the polarized proton in the gluon-momentum-fraction range 0.02<x<0.08, with direct sensitivity to the sign of the gluon contribution.

Abstract
From 1991 to 2021, 16 categories of land-based waste, totaling 131,400,000 m3, were dumped at three sites in Korea. The concentration of heavy metals varied by waste type, with organic sludge showing higher levels than liquid waste. While wastewater treatment sludge was the most commonly discarded waste, the quantity and types of waste disposed of varied by site. Before the 2015 ban on ocean dumping, 62,330 tons of heavy metals were introduced, including zinc, copper, chromium, lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury in descending order of frequency. In each heavy metal category, the portion of land-based waste varied by dumping site. Compared to heavy metals from atmospheric deposition, anthropogenic heavy metal input from dumping was up to 141 times higher for copper. This study serves as a reference for estimating the impact of pollutants from dumped waste.

Abstract
We investigated the effects of four coumarin derivatives, namely, 6-methylcoumarin, 7-methylcoumarin, 4-hydroxy-6-methylcoumarin, and 4-hydroxy-7-methylcoumarin, which have similar structures on melanogenesis in a murine melanoma cell line from a C57BL/6J mouse called B16F10. Our results showed that only 6-methylcoumarin significantly increased the melanin synthesis in a concentration-dependent manner. In addition, the tyrosinase, TRP-1, TRP-2, and MITF protein levels were found to significantly increase in response to 6-methylcoumarin in a concentration-dependent manner. To elucidate the molecular mechanism whereby 6-methylcoumarin-induced melanogenesis influences the melanogenesis-related protein expression and melanogenesis-regulating protein activation, we further assessed the B16F10 cells. The inhibition of the ERK, Akt, and CREB phosphorylation, and conversely, the increased p38, JNK, and PKA phosphorylation activated the melanin synthesis via MITF upregulation, which ultimately led to increased melanin synthesis. Accordingly, 6-methylcoumarin increased the p38, JNK, and PKA phosphorylation in the B16F10 cells, whereas it decreased the phosphorylated ERK, Akt, and CREB expressions. In addition, the 6-methylcoumarin activated GSK3β and β-catenin phosphorylation and reduced the β-catenin protein level. These results suggest that 6-methylcoumarin stimulates melanogenesis through the GSK3β/β-catenin signal pathway, thereby affecting the pigmentation process. Finally, we tested the safety of 6-methylcoumarin for topical applications using a primary human skin irritation test on the normal skin of 31 healthy volunteers. We found that 6-methylcoumarin did not cause any adverse effects at concentrations of 125 and 250 μM. Our findings indicate that 6-methylcoumarin may be an effective pigmentation stimulator for use in cosmetics and the medical treatment of photoprotection and hypopigmentation disorders.

Abstract
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are increasingly considered for biomedical applications as drug-delivery carriers, imaging probes and antibacterial agents. Silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) represent another subclass of nanoscale silver. AgNCs are a promising tool for nanomedicine due to their small size, structural homogeneity, antibacterial activity and fluorescence, which arises from their molecule-like electron configurations. The template-assisted synthesis of AgNCs relies on organic molecules that act as polydentate ligands. In particular, single-stranded nucleic acids reproducibly scaffold AgNCs to provide fluorescent, biocompatible materials that are incorporable in other formulations. This mini review outlines the design and characterization of AgNPs and DNA-templated AgNCs, discusses factors that affect their physicochemical and biological properties, and highlights applications of these materials as antibacterial agents and biosensors.

Abstract
The objectives of this study were to investigate the melanogenetic potentials of the naturally occurring 7-hydroxy coumarin derivatives 7-hydroxy 5,6-dimethoxycoumarin (7H-5,6DM), 7-hydroxy 6,8-dimethoxycoumarin (7H-6,8DM), 7-hydroxy 6-methoxycoumarin (7H-6M), and 7-hydroxy 4-methylcoumarin (7H-4M) in the melanogenic cells model for murine B16F10 melanoma cells. The initial results indicated that melanin production and intracellular tyrosinase activity were significantly stimulated by 7H-4M but not by 7H-5,6DM, 7H-6,8DM, or 7H-6M. Therefore, our present study further investigated the melanogenic effects of 7H-4M in B16-F10 cells, as well as its mechanisms of action. In a concentration-dependent manner, 7H-4M increased intracellular tyrosinase activity, leading to the accumulation of melanin without affecting the viability of B16-F10 cells. Our study further investigated the effects of 7H-4M on melanogenesis, including its ability to promote tyrosinase activity, increase melanin content, and activate molecular signaling pathways. The results indicate that 7H-4M effectively stimulated tyrosinase activity and significantly increased the expression of melanin synthesis-associated proteins, such as microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF), tyrosinase, tyrosinase-related protein-1 (TRP1), and TRP2. Based on our findings, we can conclude that 7H-4M has the ability to activate the melanogenesis process through the upregulation of cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) and the cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB). Additionally, our study showed that 7H-4M induced melanogenic effects by downregulating the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and the phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt)/glycogen synthesis kinase-3β (GSK-3β) cascades, while upregulating the JNK and p38 signaling pathways. Finally, the potential of using 7H-4M in topical applications was tested through primary human skin irritation tests. During these tests, no adverse reactions were induced by 7H-4M. In summary, our results indicate that 7H-4M regulates melanogenesis through various signaling pathways such as GSK3β/β-catenin, AKT, PKA/CREB, and MAPK. These findings suggest that 7H-4M has the potential to prevent the development of pigmentation diseases.

Abstract
Parallel to CO2 emission, NOx emission has become one of the menacing problems that seek a simple, durable, and high-efficiency deNOx catalyst. Herein, we demonstrated simple syntheses of platinum group metal nanoparticle-decorated f-BNNT (PGM = Pd, Pt, and Rh, and f-BNNT stands for -OH-functionalized boron nitride nanotubes) as a catalyst for efficient and selective reduction of NO by CO at low-temperature conditions. PGM/f-BNNT with a low amount of noble metal nanoparticles (0.7-0.8 wt %) presents very efficient catalytic activity for NO reduction as well as CO oxidation during their removal process. The removal efficiencies of NO and CO with Pd/f-BNNT, Pt/f-BNNT, and Rh/f-BNNT catalysts were investigated under various temperatures, flow rates, and reaction times, respectively. For most cases, NO catalytic reduction with CO reaction was >99% at a temperature as low as ∼200 °C. The catalyst robustness and efficiency were also verified by presenting almost 100% conversion of NO using a Rh/f-BNNT catalyst, which was aged under humid air at 600 and 700 °C for 24 h, respectively. The synergic effect of the catalytic efficacy of the well-dispersed noble metal nanoparticles and the excellent surface properties of BNNT are reasons for the high selectivity and catalytic property at a low temperature. On the basis of this investigation, we demonstrated that the noble metal nanoparticle-decorated f-BNNT catalysts are possible to save expensive PGM catalysts, such as Pt, Pd, and Rd, as much as 100 times while presenting similar or better catalytic performance for simultaneous NO and CO removals.

Abstract
A serious complication in aortic dissection is dynamic obstruction of the true lumen (TL). Dynamic obstruction results in malperfusion, a blockage of blood flow to a vital organ. Clinical data reveal that increases in central blood pressure promote dynamic obstruction. However, the mechanisms by which high pressures result in TL collapse are underexplored and poorly understood. Here, we developed a computational model to investigate biomechanical and hemodynamical factors involved in Dynamic obstruction. We hypothesize that relatively small pressure gradient between TL and false lumen (FL) are sufficient to displace the flap and induce obstruction. An idealized fluid-structure interaction model of type B aortic dissection was created. Simulations were performed under mean cardiac output while inducing dynamic changes in blood pressure by altering FL outflow resistance. As FL resistance increased, central aortic pressure increased from 95.7 to 115.3 mmHg. Concurrent with blood pressure increase, flap motion was observed, resulting in TL collapse, consistent with clinical findings. The maximum pressure gradient between TL and FL over the course of the dynamic obstruction was 4.5 mmHg, consistent with our hypothesis. Furthermore, the final stage of dynamic obstruction was very sudden in nature, occurring over a short time (<1 s) in our simulation, consistent with the clinical understanding of this dramatic event. Simulations also revealed sudden drops in flow and pressure in the TL in response to the flap motion, consistent with first stages of malperfusion. To our knowledge, this study represents the first computational analysis of potential mechanisms driving dynamic obstruction in aortic dissection.

Abstract
Globally, cardiac arrest (CA) is a leading cause of death and disability. Asphyxial CA (ACA)-induced kidney damage is a crucial factor in reducing the survival rate. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of antioxidant enzymes in histopathological renal damage in an ACA rat model at different time points. A total of 88 rats were divided into five groups and exposed to ACA except for the sham group. To evaluate glomerular function and oxidative stress, serum levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Crtn) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in renal tissues were measured. To determine histopathological damage, hematoxylin and eosin staining, periodic acid-Schiff staining, and Masson's trichrome staining were performed. Expression levels of antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD-1), superoxide dismutase-2 (SOD-2), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) were measured by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Survival rate of the experimental rats was reduced to 80% at 6 h, 55% at 12 h, 42.9% at 1 day, and 33% at 2 days after return of spontaneous circulation. Levels of BUN, Crtn, and MDA started to increase significantly in the early period of CA induction. Renal histopathological damage increased markedly from 6 h until two days post-CA. Additionally, expression levels of antioxidant enzymes were significantly decreased at 6 h, 12 h, 1 day, and 2 days after CA. CA-induced oxidative stress and decreased levels of antioxidant enzymes (SOD-1, SOD-2, CAT, GPx) from 6 h to two days could be possible mediators of severe renal tissue damage and increased mortality rate.

Abstract
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations can be used to investigate the stability and conformational characteristics of RNA nanostructures. However, MD simulations of an RNA nanostructure is computationally expensive due to the size of nanostructure and the number of atoms. Alternatively, MD simulations of RNA motifs can be used to estimate the conformational stability of constructed RNA nanostructure due to their small sizes. In this chapter, we introduce the preparation and MD simulations of two RNA kissing loop (KL) motifs, a linear KL complex and a bent KL complex, and an RNA nanoring. The initial solvated system and topology files of each system will be prepared by two major force fields, AMBER and CHARMM force fields. MD simulations will be performed by NAMD simulation package, which can accept both force fields. In addition, we will introduce the use of the AMBER cpptraj program and visual molecular dynamics (VMD) for data analysis. We will also discuss how MD simulations of two KL motifs can be used to estimate the conformation and stability of RNA nanoring as well as to explain the vibrational characteristics of RNA nanoring.

Abstract
In this work, zinc oxide coupled cadmium tungstate (ZnO-CT) was prepared as a nano-photocatalyst through a green synthesis route using lemon leaf extract and characterized based on diverse microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. To explore the applicabilties of the prepared nanocomposite (NC), its photocatalytic activity has been investigated against Congo red (CR) dye under natural solar light irradiation conditions. ZnO- CT nano-photocatalyst showcases 97% photocatalytic degradation of the CR after 90 min of natural solar light irradiation with quantum yield of 1.16 × 10-8 molecules photon-1. The ZnO-CT NC has shown the enhanced photocatalytic degradation performance against CR when compared to its pristine forms (e.g., ZnO (70%) or CT (44%)). According to the free radical trapping and quenching experiments, the photocatalytic activity of ZnO-CT NC appears to be driven efficiently by superoxide and hydroxyl radicals. The photocatalytic degradation kinetics for CR dye was also studied using the pseudo-first-order, diffusional, and Singh models. The high photocatalytic activity of ZnO-CT NC can be accounted for by the presence of electron-withdrawing functional groups like acids (-COOH) and aldehydes (-CHO) on its surface which helped maintain the prolonged recombination of charge carriers and enhanced stability of ZnO-CT (with moderately low leaching rate of cadmium ions (∼2-5%)).

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Current guidelines recommend moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) for health benefit in adults. However, it is difficult to meet the recommended minimum MVPA in “oldest old” aged over 85. Although walking is simple and easy exercise for oldest old, research on the association between walking and mortality in oldest old are lacking.
Purpose
To investigate the association between walking and the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among older adults aged 85 years and older.
Methods
7047 participants aged 85 or older underwent the Korean National Health Screening Program, including self-administered questionnaire for physical activity. Reported frequency per week of walking for at least 30 minutes increment was used to classify hours of walking per week. We computed multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios for walking and mutually adjusted for MVPA in relation to all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.
Results
The proportions of participants who engaged in walking, moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activity were 42.5% (2996/7047), 14.7% (1037/7047) and 11.0% (773/7047), respectively. Only 7.6% (538/7047) of participants met the guidelines recommended minimum MVPA. Compared to inactive individuals, those who walked at least 1 hour per week had lower all-cause (HR 0.60 [95% CI, 0.50–0.74]) and cardiovascular mortality risk (HR 0.61 [95% CI, 0.42–0.89]). Walking 1 hour per week was still significant associated with reduction of risk for all-cause (HR 0.50 [95% CI, 0.40–0.61]) and cardiovascular mortality (HR 0.46 [95% CI, 0.30–0.70]) among participants who reported only walking without any MVPA.
Conclusions
1 hour a week of walking might be of benefit for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in aged over 85 years, even without MVPA. Promoting walking may be a way to help oldest old avoid inactivity and encourage an active lifestyle for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality risk reduction.

Abstract
The present study investigated the melanogenic effects of imperatorin and isoimperatorin and the underlying mechanisms of imperatorin using a mouse melanoma B16F10 model. Interestingly, treatment with 25 μM of either imperatorin or isoimperatorin, despite their structural differences, did not produce differences in melanin content and intracellular tyrosinase activity. Imperatorin also activated the expression of melanogenic enzymes, such as tyrosinase (TYR) and tyrosinase-related proteins TYRP-1 and TYRP-2. Mechanistically, imperatorin increases melanin synthesis through the cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-dependent protein kinase (PKA)/cAMP-responsive element-binding protein (CREB)-dependent upregulation of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF), which is a key transcription factor in melanogenesis. Furthermore, imperatorin exerted melanogenic effects by downregulating extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and upregulating phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT)/glycogen synthesis kinase-3β (GSK-3β). Moreover, imperatorin increased the content of β-catenin in the cell cytoplasm and nucleus by reducing the content of phosphorylated β-catenin (p-β-catenin). Finally, we tested the potential of imperatorin in topical application through primary human skin irritation tests. These tests were performed on the normal skin (upper back) of 31 volunteers to determine whether 25 or 50 µM of imperatorin had irritation or sensitization potential. During these tests, imperatorin did not induce any adverse reactions. Taken together, these findings suggest that the regulation of melanogenesis by imperatorin can be mediated by signaling pathways involving PKA/CREB, ERK, AKT, and GSK3β/β-catenin and that imperatorin could prevent the pathogenesis of pigmentation diseases when used as a topical agent.

Abstract
To investigate reaction order and kinetic parameters of the reaction between crystal violet (CV) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH), various concentrations of the reactants were applied. The present work also verifies the unknown solid product produced under highly concentrated conditions. The reaction orders of CV and NaOH were determined to be 1 and 1.08 by pseudo rate method, respectively, with a rate constant, k, of 0.054 [(M-1.08) s-1]. In addition to pseudo rate method, the half-life approach was used to calculate the overall reaction order to verify the accuracy of pseudo rate method. The overall reaction order was determined to be 1.9 by the half-life method. The overall reaction order based on the two methods studied was approximately 2. The precipitate formation was observed when high concentrations of CV (0.01-0.1 M) and NaOH (1.0 M) were applied. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was used to compare the spectra of the precipitate generated and a commercial solvent violet 9 (SV9). Based on the FTIR spectra, it was confirmed that the molecular structure of the precipitate matched that of solvent violet 9.

Abstract
The activation of the telomere maintenance mechanism (TMM) is one of the critical drivers of cancer cell immortality. In gliomas, TERT expression and TERT promoter mutation are considered to reliably indicate telomerase activation, while ATRX mutation indicates alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT). However, these relationships have not been extensively validated in tumor tissues. Here, we show through the direct measurement of telomerase activity and ALT in a large set of glioma samples that the TMM in glioma cannot be defined in the dichotomy of telomerase activity and ALT, regardless of TERT expression, TERT promoter mutation and ATRX mutation. Moreover, we observed that a considerable proportion of gliomas lack both telomerase activity and ALT (Neither group). And this Neither group exhibited evidence of slow growth potential. From a set of longitudinal samples from a separate cohort of glioma patients, we discovered that the TMM is not fixed but changes with glioma progression. Collectively, these results suggest that the TMM is a dynamic entity and that reflects the plasticity of the oncogenic biological status of tumor cells and that the TMM should be defined by the direct measurement of telomerase enzyme activity and evidence of ALT.

Abstract
The study of nuclei and antinuclei production has proven to be a powerful tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in high-energy hadronic collisions. The first measurement of the production of _{Λ}^{3}H in p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV is presented in this Letter. Its production yield measured in the rapidity interval -1<y<0 for the 40% highest-multiplicity p-Pb collisions is dN/dy=[6.3±1.8(stat)±1.2(syst)]×10^{-7}. The measurement is compared with the expectations of statistical hadronization and coalescence models, which describe the nucleosynthesis in hadronic collisions. These two models predict very different yields of the hypertriton in charged particle multiplicity environments relevant to small collision systems such as p-Pb, and therefore the measurement of dN/dy is crucial to distinguish between them. The precision of this measurement leads to the exclusion with a significance larger than 6.9σ of some configurations of the statistical hadronization model, thus constraining the theory behind the production of loosely bound states at hadron colliders.

Abstract
The polarization of the Λ and Λ[over ¯] hyperons along the beam (z) direction, P_{z}, has been measured in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded with ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The main contribution to P_{z} comes from elliptic flow-induced vorticity and can be characterized by the second Fourier sine coefficient P_{z,s2}=⟨P_{z}sin(2φ-2Ψ_{2})⟩, where φ is the hyperon azimuthal emission angle and Ψ_{2} is the elliptic flow plane angle. We report the measurement of P_{z,s2} for different collision centralities and in the 30%-50% centrality interval as a function of the hyperon transverse momentum and rapidity. The P_{z,s2} is positive similarly as measured by the STAR Collaboration in Au-Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV, with somewhat smaller amplitude in the semicentral collisions. This is the first experimental evidence of a nonzero hyperon P_{z} in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The comparison of the measured P_{z,s2} with the hydrodynamic model calculations shows sensitivity to the competing contributions from thermal and the recently found shear-induced vorticity, as well as to whether the polarization is acquired at the quark-gluon plasma or the hadronic phase.
