Abstract
AIM To evaluate the motion amplitude of lung nodules in different locations during preoperative computed tomography (CT)-guided localization, and the influence of respiratory movement on CT-guided percutaneous lung puncture. MATERIALS AND METHODS A consecutive cohort of 398 patients (123 men and 275 women with a mean age of 53.9 ± 10.7 years) who underwent preoperative CT-guided lung nodule localization from May 2021 to Apr 2022 were included in this retrospective study. The respiratory movement-related nodule amplitude in the cranial-caudal direction during the CT scan, characteristics of patients, lesions, and procedures were statistically analyzed. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the influence of these factors on CT-guided localization. RESULTS The nodule motion distribution showed a statistically significant correlation within the upper/middle (lingular) and lower lobes (p<0.001). Motion amplitude was an independent risk factor for CT scan times (p=0.011) and procedure duration (p=0.016), but not for the technical failure rates or the incidence of complications. Puncture depth was an independent risk factor for the CT scan times, procedure duration, technical failure rates, and complications (p<0.01). Female, prone, and supine (as opposed to lateral) positions were significant protective factors for pneumothorax, while the supine position was an independent risk factor for parenchymal hemorrhage (p=0.025). CONCLUSION Respiratory-induced motion amplitude of nodules was greater in the lower lobes, resulting in more CT scan times/radiation dose and longer localization duration, but showed no statistically significant influence on the technical success rates or the incidence of complications during preoperative CT-guided localization.

Abstract
The polarization of Λ and Λ[over ¯] hyperons along the beam direction has been measured relative to the second and third harmonic event planes in isobar Ru+Ru and Zr+Zr collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. This is the first experimental evidence of the hyperon polarization by the triangular flow originating from the initial density fluctuations. The amplitudes of the sine modulation for the second and third harmonic results are comparable in magnitude, increase from central to peripheral collisions, and show a mild p_{T} dependence. The azimuthal angle dependence of the polarization follows the vorticity pattern expected due to elliptic and triangular anisotropic flow, and qualitatively disagrees with most hydrodynamic model calculations based on thermal vorticity and shear induced contributions. The model results based on one of existing implementations of the shear contribution lead to a correct azimuthal angle dependence, but predict centrality and p_{T} dependence that still disagree with experimental measurements. Thus, our results provide stringent constraints on the thermal vorticity and shear-induced contributions to hyperon polarization. Comparison to previous measurements at RHIC and the LHC for the second-order harmonic results shows little dependence on the collision system size and collision energy.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To evaluate intratumoral treatment response distribution with using FDG-PET/CT during the chemoradiotherapy of nasopharyngeal patients (NPC). MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 5 of 30 patients with stage III-IVA NPC were enrolled in the institutional protocol for induction/concurrent chemoradiotherapy with radiation dose of 70 Gy in 33 fractions. For each patient, a pre-radiation treatment FDG-PET/MRI image (SUV0) and a mid-treatment image (SUVm) at the treatment dose of 31.8 Gy were obtained. Followed by deformable PET/MRI registration between SUV0 and SUVm, the tumor voxel SUV reduction ratio was obtained to construct a tumor dose response matrix (DRM). Tumor SUVavid was also constructed by limiting tumor voxel SUVm > a given value. Spatial correlations of the tumor SUV0, SUVm, SUVavid and DRM were determined. RESULTS The mean and coefficient variation (CV) of the SUV0, SUVm and DRM for all tumors were 5.05 (52%), 2.72 (49%) and 0.64 (63%) (Table contains the individual data), which were smaller than those on the SUVs of head-n-neck HPV+ patients reported previously due to the induction chemotherapy, but had much larger DRM mean and CV. The inter-tumoral CVs of SUV0 and DRM were 29% and 27%, which were much lower than those of the intra-tumoral CVs 43% and 57%. Meanwhile, the intra-tumoral variations on SUV0 was smaller than the one of head-neck HPV+ patients, but the DRM intra-variation was much larger. There was a weak correlation between SUV0 and SUVm with the correlation coefficient 0.13, a medium correlation of -0.55 between SUV0 and DRM, but a strong correlation, 0.72, between SUVm and DRM. However, the spatial correlation between tumor DRM and SUVavid was getting weaker as the SUVavid value increasing and equal 0.47 with SUVavid value > 3. CONCLUSION The spatial dose response DRM for NPC in the concurrent chemoradiotherapy was relatively high, while had relatively low baseline tumor metabolic activity SUV0. It was most likely due to the induction chemotherapy. In addition, the tumor dose response showed vary large intra-tumoral variation. The high correlations between DRM and SUVm imply that SUVavid could be used partially to guide adaptive modification of NPC treatment with carefully selected boundary value.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To evaluate the capability of assessing intratumoral treatment response distribution with using FDG-PET/CT during the chemoradiotherapy of locally advanced NSCLC. MATERIALS/METHODS Twelve of total 50 patients with stage III NSCLC were enrolled in the institutional protocol for concurrent chemoradiotherapy with treatment dose of 54-60 Gy in 27-30 fractions. For each patient, a pre-treatment FDG-PET/CT image (SUV0) and a mid-treatment image (SUVm) obtained within the treatment dose of 24 ∼ 46 Gy were obtained. Followed by deformable PET/CT registration between SUV0 and SUVm, the tumor voxel SUV reduction ratio was obtained to construct a tumor dose response matrix (DRM). Tumor SUVavid was also constructed by limiting tumor voxel SUVm > a given value. Spatial correlations of the tumor SUV0, SUVm, SUVavid and DRM were determined. RESULTS The mean and coefficient variation (CV) of the SUV0, SUVm and DRM for all tumors were 6.56(64%), 2.82(59%) and 0.52(70%) (Table contains the individual data), which were like those on the SUVs and the mean DRM of head-neck HPV- patients reported previously, but much larger on the DRM variation. The inter-tumoral CVs of SUV0 and DRM were 17% and 43%, which were much smaller than those of the intra-tumoral CVs 61% and 55%. Meanwhile, the intra-tumoral variations on both SUV0 and DRM were much larger than those of head-neck HPV- patients. There was a weak correlation between SUV0 and SUVm with the correlation coefficient 0.32, a medium correlation of -0.51 between SUV0 and DRM; 0.58 between SUVm and DRM. It implies that the rule of tumor dose response DRM on treatment modification decision cannot be fully replaced by either SUV0 or SUVm. The spatial correlation between tumor DRM and SUVavid was 0.23 with SUVavid value > 3, which was getting weaker when increasing SUVavid value. CONCLUSION Spatial dose response for NSCLC assessed using FDG-PET/CT feedback demonstrated high treatment resistant patterns, which had a large intra-tumoral variation. In addition, the medium correlations of DRM vs SUV0 and DRM vs SUVm imply that all these factors could be used to guide adaptive modification of NSCLC treatment.

Abstract
Protein coronas are present extensively at the bio-nano interface due to the natural adsorption of proteins onto nanomaterials in biological fluids. Aside from the robust property of nanoparticles, the dynamics of the protein corona shell largely define their chemical identity by altering interface properties. However, the soft coronas are normally complex and rapidly changing. To real-time monitor the entire formation, we report here a self-regulated electrochemiluminescence (ECL) microscopy based on the interaction of the Ru(bpy)3 3+ with the nanoparticle surface. Thus, the heterogeneity of the protein corona is in situ observed in single nanoparticle "cores" before and after loading drugs in nanomedicine carriers. The label-free, optical stable and dynamic ECL microscopy minimize misinterpretations caused by the variation of nanoparticle size and polydispersity. Accordingly, the synergetic actions of proteins and nanoparticles properties are uncovered by chemically engineered protein corona. After comparing the protein corona formation kinetics in different complex systems and different nanomedicine carriers, the universality and accuracy of this technique were well demonstrated via the protein corona formation kinetics curves regulated by competitive adsorption of Ru(bpy)3 3+ and multiple proteins on surface of various carriers. The work is of great significance for studying bio-nano interface in drug delivery and targeted cancer treatment.

Abstract
In operando visualization of local electrochemical reactions provides mechanical insights into the dynamic transport of interfacial charge and reactant/product. Electrochemiluminescence is a crossover technique that quantitatively determines Faraday current and mass transport in a straightforward manner. However, the sensitivity is hindered by the low collision efficiency of radicals and side reactions at high voltage. Here, we report a site-selective heat boosting electrochemiluminescence microscopy. By generating a micron-scale heat point in situ at the electrode-solution interface, we achieved an enhancement of luminescence intensity up to 63 times, along with an advance of 0.2 V in applied voltage. Experimental results and finite element simulation demonstrate that the fundamental reasons are accelerated reaction rate and thermal convection via a photothermal effect. The concentrated electrochemiluminescence not only boosts the contrast of single cells by 20.54 times but also enables the site-selective cell-by-cell analysis of the heterogeneous membrane protein abundance. This electrochemical visualization method has great potential in the highly sensitive and selective analysis of local electron transfer events.

Abstract
The elliptic (v_{2}) and triangular (v_{3}) azimuthal anisotropy coefficients in central ^{3}He+Au, d+Au, and p+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV are measured as a function of transverse momentum (p_{T}) at midrapidity (|η|<0.9), via the azimuthal angular correlation between two particles both at |η|<0.9. While the v_{2}(p_{T}) values depend on the colliding systems, the v_{3}(p_{T}) values are system independent within the uncertainties, suggesting an influence on eccentricity from subnucleonic fluctuations in these small-sized systems. These results also provide stringent constraints for the hydrodynamic modeling of these systems.

Abstract
We report here the first observation of directed flow (v_{1}) of the hypernuclei _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H in mid-central Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3 GeV at RHIC. These data are taken as part of the beam energy scan program carried out by the STAR experiment. From 165×10^{6} events in 5%-40% centrality, about 8400 _{Λ}^{3}H and 5200 _{Λ}^{4}H candidates are reconstructed through two- and three-body decay channels. We observe that these hypernuclei exhibit significant directed flow. Comparing to that of light nuclei, it is found that the midrapidity v_{1} slopes of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H follow baryon number scaling, implying that the coalescence is the dominant mechanism for these hypernuclei production in the 3 GeV Au+Au collisions.

Abstract
We report the triton (t) production in midrapidity (|y|<0.5) Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=7.7-200 GeV measured by the STAR experiment from the first phase of the beam energy scan at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The nuclear compound yield ratio (N_{t}×N_{p}/N_{d}^{2}), which is predicted to be sensitive to the fluctuation of local neutron density, is observed to decrease monotonically with increasing charged-particle multiplicity (dN_{ch}/dη) and follows a scaling behavior. The dN_{ch}/dη dependence of the yield ratio is compared to calculations from coalescence and thermal models. Enhancements in the yield ratios relative to the coalescence baseline are observed in the 0%-10% most central collisions at 19.6 and 27 GeV, with a significance of 2.3σ and 3.4σ, respectively, giving a combined significance of 4.1σ. The enhancements are not observed in peripheral collisions or model calculations without critical fluctuation, and decreases with a smaller p_{T} acceptance. The physics implications of these results on the QCD phase structure and the production mechanism of light nuclei in heavy-ion collisions are discussed.

Abstract
Bioinspired smart superwetting surfaces with special wettability have aroused great attention from fundamental research to technological applications including self-cleaning, oil-water separation, anti-icing/corrosion/fogging, drag reduction, cell engineering, liquid manipulation, and so on. However, most of the reported smart superwetting surfaces switch their wettability by reversibly changing surface chemistry rather than surface microstructure. Compared with surface chemistry, the regulation of surface microstructure is more difficult and can bring novel functions to the surfaces. As a kind of stimulus-responsive material, shape-memory polymer (SMP) has become an excellent candidate for preparing smart superwetting surfaces owing to its unique shape transformation property. This review systematically summarizes the recent progress of smart superwetting SMP surfaces including fabrication methods, smart superwetting phenomena, and related application fields. The smart superwettabilities, such as superhydrophobicity/superomniphobicity with tunable adhesion, reversible switching between superhydrophobicity and superhydrophilicity, switchable isotropic/anisotropic wetting, slippery surface with tunable wettability, and underwater superaerophobicity/superoleophobicity with tunable adhesion, can be obtained on SMP micro/nanostructures by regulating the surface morphology. Finally, the challenges and future prospects of smart superwetting SMP surfaces are discussed.

Abstract
We report on measurements of sequential ϒ suppression in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV with the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) through both the dielectron and dimuon decay channels. In the 0%-60% centrality class, the nuclear modification factors (R_{AA}), which quantify the level of yield suppression in heavy-ion collisions compared to p+p collisions, for ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) are 0.40±0.03(stat)±0.03(sys)±0.09(norm) and 0.26±0.08(stat)±0.02(sys)±0.06(norm), respectively, while the upper limit of the ϒ(3S) R_{AA} is 0.17 at a 95% confidence level. This provides experimental evidence that the ϒ(3S) is significantly more suppressed than the ϒ(1S) at RHIC. The level of suppression for ϒ(1S) is comparable to that observed at the much higher collision energy at the Large Hadron Collider. These results point to the creation of a medium at RHIC whose temperature is sufficiently high to strongly suppress excited ϒ states.

Abstract
We report the beam energy and collision centrality dependence of fifth and sixth order cumulants (C_{5}, C_{6}) and factorial cumulants (κ_{5}, κ_{6}) of net-proton and proton number distributions, from center-of-mass energy (sqrt[s_{NN}]) 3 GeV to 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC. Cumulant ratios of net-proton (taken as proxy for net-baryon) distributions generally follow the hierarchy expected from QCD thermodynamics, except for the case of collisions at 3 GeV. The measured values of C_{6}/C_{2} for 0%-40% centrality collisions show progressively negative trend with decreasing energy, while it is positive for the lowest energy studied. These observed negative signs are consistent with QCD calculations (for baryon chemical potential, μ_{B}≤110 MeV) which contains the crossover transition range. In addition, for energies above 7.7 GeV, the measured proton κ_{n}, within uncertainties, does not support the two-component (Poisson+binomial) shape of proton number distributions that would be expected from a first-order phase transition. Taken in combination, the hyperorder proton number fluctuations suggest that the structure of QCD matter at high baryon density, μ_{B}∼750 MeV at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3 GeV is starkly different from those at vanishing μ_{B}∼24 MeV at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV and higher collision energies.

Abstract
Elliptic flow measurements from two-, four-, and six-particle correlations are used to investigate flow fluctuations in collisions of U+U at sqrt[s_{NN}]=193 GeV, Cu+Au at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV and Au+Au spanning the range sqrt[s_{NN}]=11.5-200 GeV. The measurements show a strong dependence of the flow fluctuations on collision centrality, a modest dependence on system size, and very little if any, dependence on particle species and beam energy. The results, when compared to similar LHC measurements, viscous hydrodynamic calculations, and trento model eccentricities, indicate that initial-state-driven fluctuations predominate the flow fluctuations generated in the collisions studied.

Abstract
The preparation of the wavelength-scale micropores on metallic surfaces is limited by the high opacity of metal. At present, most micropores reported in the literature are more than 20 µm in diameter, which is not only large in size, but renders them inefficient for processing so that it is difficult to meet the needs of some special fields, such as aerospace, biotechnology, and so on. In this paper, the rapid laser fabrications of the wavelength-scale micropores on various metallic surfaces are achieved through femtosecond MHz burst Bessel beam ablation. Taking advantage of the long-depth focal field of the Bessel beam, high-density micropores with a diameter of 1.3 µm and a depth of 10.5 µm are prepared on metal by MHz burst accumulation; in addition, the rapid fabrication of 2000 micropores can be achieved in 1 s. The guidelines and experimental results illustrate that the formations of the wavelength-scale porous structures are the result of the co-action of the laser-induced periodic surface structure (LIPSS) effect and Bessel beam interference. Porous metal can be used to store lubricant and form a lubricating layer on the metallic surface, thus endowing the metal resistance to various liquids' adhesion. The microporous formation process on metal provides a new physical insight for the rapid preparation of wavelength-scale metallic micropores, and promotes the application of porous metal in the fields of catalysis, gas adsorption, structural templates, and bio-transportation fields.

Abstract
Investigating electrochemiluminescence (ECL) scenarios under different temperatures is important to expand its imaging scope near an electrode surface. Here, we develop a temperature-tuned ECL layer by recording the evolution of shadow regions of adherent cells. Finite element simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the thickness of the ECL layer (TEL) is reversibly regulated by electrode temperature (T e), so that single cell topography at different heights is imaged. The TEL in two ECL routes shows different regulation ranges with elevated T e, thus providing a flexible approach to adjust the imaging scope within specific heights. In addition, a heated electrode significantly improves the image quality of cell adhesion in heterogeneous electrochemical rate-determined situations. Thus, the contrast in cell regions shows a reversible response to T e. This work provides a new approach to regulate the TEL and is promising for monitoring transient heat generation from biological entities.

Abstract
The STAR Collaboration reports measurements of back-to-back azimuthal correlations of di-π^{0}s produced at forward pseudorapidities (2.6<η<4.0) in p+p, p+Al, and p+Au collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV. We observe a clear suppression of the correlated yields of back-to-back π^{0} pairs in p+Al and p+Au collisions compared to the p+p data. The observed suppression of back-to-back pairs as a function of transverse momentum suggests nonlinear gluon dynamics arising at high parton densities. The larger suppression found in p+Au relative to p+Al collisions exhibits a dependence of the saturation scale Q_{s}^{2} on the mass number A. A linear scaling of the suppression with A^{1/3} is observed with a slope of -0.09±0.01.

Abstract
We report cumulants of the proton multiplicity distribution from dedicated fixed-target Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV, measured by the STAR experiment in the kinematic acceptance of rapidity (y) and transverse momentum (p_{T}) within -0.5<y<0 and 0.4<p_{T}<2.0 GeV/c. In the most central 0%-5% collisions, a proton cumulant ratio is measured to be C_{4}/C_{2}=-0.85±0.09 (stat)±0.82 (syst), which is 2σ below the Poisson baseline with respect to both the statistical and systematic uncertainties. The hadronic transport UrQMD model reproduces our C_{4}/C_{2} in the measured acceptance. Compared to higher energy results and the transport model calculations, the suppression in C_{4}/C_{2} is consistent with fluctuations driven by baryon number conservation and indicates an energy regime dominated by hadronic interactions. These data imply that the QCD critical region, if created in heavy-ion collisions, could only exist at energies higher than 3 GeV.

Abstract
We report precision measurements of hypernuclei _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H lifetimes obtained from Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV and 7.2 GeV collected by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, and the first measurement of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H midrapidity yields in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV. _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H, being the two simplest bound states composed of hyperons and nucleons, are cornerstones in the field of hypernuclear physics. Their lifetimes are measured to be 221±15(stat)±19(syst) ps for _{Λ}^{3}H and 218±6(stat)±13(syst) ps for _{Λ}^{4}H. The p_{T}-integrated yields of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H are presented in different centrality and rapidity intervals. It is observed that the shape of the rapidity distribution of _{Λ}^{4}H is different for 0%-10% and 10%-50% centrality collisions. Thermal model calculations, using the canonical ensemble for strangeness, describes the _{Λ}^{3}H yield well, while underestimating the _{Λ}^{4}H yield. Transport models, combining baryonic mean-field and coalescence (jam) or utilizing dynamical cluster formation via baryonic interactions (phqmd) for light nuclei and hypernuclei production, approximately describe the measured _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H yields. Our measurements provide means to precisely assess our understanding of the fundamental baryonic interactions with strange quarks, which can impact our understanding of more complicated systems involving hyperons, such as the interior of neutron stars or exotic hypernuclei.

Abstract
Understanding gluon density distributions and how they are modified in nuclei are among the most important goals in nuclear physics. In recent years, diffractive vector meson production measured in ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) at heavy-ion colliders has provided a new tool for probing the gluon density. In this Letter, we report the first measurement of J/ψ photoproduction off the deuteron in UPCs at the center-of-mass energy sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV in d+Au collisions. The differential cross section as a function of momentum transfer -t is measured. In addition, data with a neutron tagged in the deuteron-going zero-degree calorimeter is investigated for the first time, which is found to be consistent with the expectation of incoherent diffractive scattering at low momentum transfer. Theoretical predictions based on the color glass condensate saturation model and the leading twist approximation nuclear shadowing model are compared with the data quantitatively. A better agreement with the saturation model has been observed. With the current measurement, the results are found to be directly sensitive to the gluon density distribution of the deuteron and the deuteron breakup process, which provides insights into the nuclear gluonic structure.

Abstract
The chiral magnetic effect (CME) refers to charge separation along a strong magnetic field due to imbalanced chirality of quarks in local parity and charge-parity violating domains in quantum chromodynamics. The experimental measurement of the charge separation is made difficult by the presence of a major background from elliptic azimuthal anisotropy. This background and the CME signal have different sensitivities to the spectator and participant planes, and could thus be determined by measurements with respect to these planes. We report such measurements in Au+Au collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. It is found that the charge separation, with the flow background removed, is consistent with zero in peripheral (large impact parameter) collisions. Some indication of finite CME signals is seen in midcentral (intermediate impact parameter) collisions. Significant residual background effects may, however, still be present.

Abstract
According to first-principle lattice QCD calculations, the transition from quark-gluon plasma to hadronic matter is a smooth crossover in the region μ_{B}≤T_{c}. In this range the ratio, C_{6}/C_{2}, of net-baryon distributions are predicted to be negative. In this Letter, we report the first measurement of the midrapidity net-proton C_{6}/C_{2} from 27, 54.4, and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The dependence on collision centrality and kinematic acceptance in (p_{T}, y) are analyzed. While for 27 and 54.4 GeV collisions the C_{6}/C_{2} values are close to zero within uncertainties, it is observed that for 200 GeV collisions, the C_{6}/C_{2} ratio becomes progressively negative from peripheral to central collisions. Transport model calculations without critical dynamics predict mostly positive values except for the most central collisions within uncertainties. These observations seem to favor a smooth crossover in the high-energy nuclear collisions at top RHIC energy.

Abstract
We report on the first measurement of charm-strange meson D_{s}^{±} production at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV from the STAR experiment. The yield ratio between strange (D_{s}^{±}) and nonstrange (D^{0}) open-charm mesons is presented and compared to model calculations. A significant enhancement, relative to a pythia simulation of p+p collisions, is observed in the D_{s}^{±}/D^{0} yield ratio in Au+Au collisions over a large range of collision centralities. Model calculations incorporating abundant strange-quark production in the quark-gluon plasma and coalescence hadronization qualitatively reproduce the data. The transverse-momentum integrated yield ratio of D_{s}^{±}/D^{0} at midrapidity is consistent with a prediction from a statistical hadronization model with the parameters constrained by the yields of light and strange hadrons measured at the same collision energy. These results suggest that the coalescence of charm quarks with strange quarks in the quark-gluon plasma plays an important role in D_{s}^{±}-meson production in heavy-ion collisions.

Abstract
Developing an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) coreactant to minimize the biotoxicity and to maximize the enhancement factor is critical to single-cell ECL microscopy. Here, we reported a guanine-rich single-stranded DNA (G-ssDNA)-loaded high-index faceted gold nanoflower (Hi-AuNF) as a synergistic coreactant of Ru(bpy)32+ for single-cell ECL imaging. Because of the excellent catalytic performance and huge specific surface area, Hi-AuNF serves as not only an ECL enhancer but also a carrier for G-ssDNA. Guanine in G-ssDNA specifically reacts with Ru(bpy)32+ through a so-called "catalytic route" and thus significantly enhances the ECL signal of Ru(bpy)32+. To endow targeting ability to the synergistic coreactant, an aptamer of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is incorporated into the G-ssDNA to form G-ssDNA-Apt for the recognition of human breast adenocarcinoma cells, which overexpress CEA on the cytomembrane. Accordingly, the ECL imaging of CEA on the cytomembrane was realized by using the highly selective Hi-AuNF@G-ssDNA-Apt as the probe as well as the luminophore of Ru(bpy)32+. Compared with the common coreactant tripropylamine with high toxicity and volatility, the Hi-AuNF@G-ssDNA-Apt is considered as a high-performance and biocompatible coreactant, providing exciting opportunities in single-cell imaging and detection.

Abstract
Global polarization of Ξ and Ω hyperons has been measured for the first time in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. The measurements of the Ξ^{-} and Ξ[over ¯]^{+} hyperon polarization have been performed by two independent methods, via analysis of the angular distribution of the daughter particles in the parity violating weak decay Ξ→Λ+π, as well as by measuring the polarization of the daughter Λ hyperon, polarized via polarization transfer from its parent. The polarization, obtained by combining the results from the two methods and averaged over Ξ^{-} and Ξ[over ¯]^{+}, is measured to be ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩=0.47±0.10(stat)±0.23(syst)% for the collision centrality 20%-80%. The ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩ is found to be slightly larger than the inclusive Λ polarization and in reasonable agreement with a multiphase transport model. The ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩ is found to follow the centrality dependence of the vorticity predicted in the model, increasing toward more peripheral collisions. The global polarization of Ω, ⟨P_{Ω}⟩=1.11±0.87(stat)±1.97(syst)% was obtained by measuring the polarization of daughter Λ in the decay Ω→Λ+K, assuming the polarization transfer factor C_{ΩΛ}=1.

Abstract
Nonmonotonic variation with collision energy (sqrt[s_{NN}]) of the moments of the net-baryon number distribution in heavy-ion collisions, related to the correlation length and the susceptibilities of the system, is suggested as a signature for the quantum chromodynamics critical point. We report the first evidence of a nonmonotonic variation in the kurtosis times variance of the net-proton number (proxy for net-baryon number) distribution as a function of sqrt[s_{NN}] with 3.1 σ significance for head-on (central) gold-on-gold (Au+Au) collisions measured solenoidal tracker at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Data in noncentral Au+Au collisions and models of heavy-ion collisions without a critical point show a monotonic variation as a function of sqrt[s_{NN}].

Abstract
As a new type of conductive material, polyaniline functionalized graphene quantum dots (PAGD), which were prepared by in-situ polymerization had been used to construct a novel electrochemical immunosensor for early screening of depression markers-heat shock protein 70 (HSP70). Profiting from the huge specific surface area, good bioactivity and excellent structure of PAGD, a variety of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) was firmly loaded on the surface of PAGD for successful construction of basic electrode (HSP70/PAGD/GCE), which was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), respectively. Due to the HSP70 fixed on the surface of basic electrode and the HSP70 in the samples can competitively combine with the horseradish peroxidase labeled human HSP70 antibody (HRP-Strept-Biotin-Ab). As a result, there is negative correlation between the concentration of HSP70 in samples and the detection signal of the proposed electrochemical immunosensor (HRP-Strept-Biotin-Ab-HSP70/PAGD/GCE) in the test liquid. Under conditions optimized for determining HSP70, wide linearity was obtained in the range of 0.0976-100 ng/mL, with a low detection limit of 0.05 ng/mL at 3σ. Moreover, the proposed electrochemical immunosensors was successfully applied to detect HSP70 in plasma samples, and exhibited good precision, acceptable stability and reproducibility. Therefore, this study provides a novel and convenient method for early clinical screening of depression markers, and also provides a reliable and objective analysis method for the diagnosis of depression at the molecular level.

Abstract
Investigating catalytic behavior of heterogeneous catalysts, especially at the crystal facets level, is crucial for rational catalyst design in the energy and environmental fields. Here we demonstrate an efficient approach to in situ visualize and analyze the heterogeneity of electrocatalytic activity on different facets at the subparticle level via electrochemiluminescence (ECL) microscopy. ZnO crystals with various exposed facet proportions were synthesized, and the correlation between their electrocatalytic performance toward luminol analogue degradation and the exposed facets is established. It is clearly imaged that the ZnO (002) facet has superior catalytic performance compared to the ZnO (100) facet, which is supported by theoretical computation and electrochemical experiments as the facet-induced heterogeneity of the catalytic effect on oxygen reduction into the key reactant for ECL. Accordingly, the spatial heterogeneity of electrocatalytic activity at different facets on one particle is visualized for the first time. The realization of subparticle ECL imaging and kinetic analysis could provide a special approach to visualize facet-induced spatial heterogeneity of catalytic behavior and valuable information for the catalysis study and analysis.

Abstract
Resistance to anticancer agents such as Epirubicin (EPI) becomes a great challenge for treating bladder cancer. However, the mechanism by which chemoresistance arised is still elusive. In the present study, we showed evidence that EPI induced cytoprotective autophagy in bladder cancer cell lines T24 and BIU87. In addition, EPI robustly activated JNK-mediated phosphorylation of Bcl-2 and disruption of Bcl-2/Beclin-1 complex. Furthermore, the green tea derivative tea polyphenol (TP) inhibited EPI-induced autophagy and promoted apoptosis induced by EPI in bladder cancer cells. These results revealed a pathway for EPI-induced autophagy that involved in JNK/Bcl-2/Beclin-1 in bladder cancer cells, and that TP synergistically promoted EPI-induced apoptosis at least partly through autophagy inhibition. Thus, TP could be utilized in combination with EPI to improve EPI-based bladder cancer therapy.

Abstract
Abstract
Background. Next-generation sequencing methods have identified several ESR1 fusion genes in treatment refractory ER+ breast cancer, however detailed functional studies in experimental models are lacking and how they might be targeted remains poorly understood. We recently reported two transcriptionally active, in-frame ESR1 fusions, ESR1-YAP1 and ESR1-PCDH11X, identified in a small cohort of metastatic ER+ cases, that induce not only pan-endocrine therapy resistance but also metastatic disease progression (Lei et al., Cell Reports, in press). Limited characterization of ESR1-DAB2 and ESR1-GYG1, also identified in metastatic ER+ disease from a recent study, suggests these two ESR1 fusions also drive estrogen-independent gene activation (Hartmaier et al., Annals of Oncology, 2018). Here, we functionally characterize ESR1-DAB2 and ESR1-GYG1 along with additional ESR1 fusions discovered in metastatic ER+ breast tumors to further support a causal role for in-frame ESR1 fusions in driving endocrine therapy resistance and promoting metastasis-associated biology, and explore therapeutic vulnerabilities induced by ESR1 fusion gene formation.
Methods. RNA-seq identified ESR1 fusions from treatment refractory, ER+ metastatic breast tumors. In-frame ESR1 fusions constructs were generated and stably expressed in ER+ breast cancer cell lines: T47D, MCF7, and ZR75-1. Estrogen-independent and fulvestrant-resistant growth was monitored in hormone-deprived stable cell lines. mRNA-qPCR was performed to examine expression of estrogen responsive and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) genes. In vitro sensitivity to CDK4/6 inhibition was tested with palbociclib and abemaciclib.
Results. In addition to previously described ESR1-YAP1, ESR1-PCDH11X, ESR1-DAB2, and ESR1-GYG1, that follow a pattern retaining the first 6 exons of ESR1 (ESR1-e6) fused in-frame to C-terminal sequences provided by the partner gene, additional in-frame ESR1-e6 fusions, ESR1-PCMT1, ESR1-ARNT2, and ESR1-ARID1B, all identified in metastatic ER+ samples, were found to follow the same fusion pattern. ESR1-DAB2 and ESR1-GYG1 produced stable ESR1 fusion proteins in ER+ breast cancer cell lines. In T47D, these two fusions drove estrogen-independent and fulvestrant-resistant growth. In addition, T47D and ZR75-1 models revealed that ESR1-DAB2 drove estrogen-independent expression of estrogen responsive genes and also EMT genes, including SNAI1, suggesting this fusion, like ESR1-YAP1 and ESR1-PCDH11X, could also drive metastasis. Treatment with CDK4/6 inhibitors suppressed growth induced by ESR1-DAB2 and ESR1-GYG1.
Conclusion. The majority of in-frame ESR1 exon 6 fusions found in metastatic ER+ breast are transcriptionally active, drive endocrine therapy resistant proliferation, and induce an EMT-like transcriptional program. The ability to block ESR1 fusion induced growth with a CDK4/6 inhibitor is clinically significant as ESR1 fusion gene formation renders ER insensitive to all endocrine therapies that target the ligand binding domain. Furthermore, clinical diagnosis of an active ESR1 fusion could potentially stratify patients for CDK4/6 inhibitor treatment. This presentation is the most complete description of the role for ESR1 fusions in endocrine therapy resistance and metastasis described to date.

Abstract
Mucinous adenocarcinoma is most commonly found in the digestive tract,and the prognosis is poor.We present here a case of primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of the larynx, which is an extremely rare entity and very few have been reported in the literature.A 72-year-old male complained of intermittent hoarseness for over 2 months of duration.Fiberoptic laryngoscope showed negative result for tumor.While CT scan showed laryngeal space occupying lesion,and thyroid cartilage damage was observed.The patient underwent total laryngectomy.Histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry(IHC) analysis supported the diagnosis of mucinous adenocarcinoma.

Abstract
In this study, a novel electrochemical immunosensor for early screening of depression markers-heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) was successfully developed based on the porous graphene (PG) with huge specific surface area and excellent structure. Benefiting from the strong adsorption and good bioactivity of PG which was initially prepared via a simple pyrolysis process, a variety of heat shock protein70 (HSP70) can be firmly loaded on the PG to construct the basic electrode (HSP70/PG/GCE),which was characterized by the cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), respectively. Due to the HSP70 fixed on the surface of basic electrode and the HSP70 in the samples can competitively combine with the horseradish peroxidase labeled human HSP 70 antibody (HRP-Strept-Biotin-Ab). As a result, it presented a negative correlation between the concentration of HSP70 in samples and the detection signal of the proposed electrochemical immunosensor (HRP-Strept-Biotin-Ab-HSP70/PG/GCE) in the test liquid. The application of PG with excellent electrical conductivity in construction of immunosensor remarkably improved the sensitivity of the immunosensor for detection of HSP70. The proposed immunosensor demonstrated a wide linear range of 0.0448 ~ 100 ng/mL with a low detection limit of 0.02 ng/mL at 3σ. Moreover, the proposed immunosensor could be applied for the sensitive and efficient detection of HSP70 in real samples with good precision, acceptable stability, reproducibility and satisfactory results. Therefore, the HSP70 immunosensor provides a novel and convenient method for early clinical screening of depression markers-heat shock protein 70.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Long-acting somatostatin analogs (SSAs) are most widely used to treat growth hormone (GH)-secreting pituitary adenoma. However, approximately 30 % of treated patients show resistance to SSAs, which may be associated with the reduction of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SSTR2) mRNA and protein expression. MATERIALS AND METHODS The present study used immunohistochemistry to detect the expression of SSTR2 and SSTR5 in twenty human GH-secreting adenoma samples treated with SSAs and seven normal pituitary samples. RESULTS The staining intensities of SSTR2 and SSTR5 were stronger in most adenoma samples than in normal pituitary. The expression of SSTR2 tended to be lower in the SSA non-responder group than in responders. A search of the Bioinformatics data bank and the miRCURY™ LNA array confirmed miR-185 as the putative mircoRNA (miRNA) regulating the expression of SSTR2. An in vitro study using Dual Luciferase reporter assay demonstrated that miR-185 likely targets the 3'-UTR of SSTR2 mRNA in the rat pituitary adenoma GH3 cell line. MiR-185 also downregulated or upregulated the expression of SSTR2 mRNA and SSTR2 protein, following transfection with miR-185 mimics or inhibitors, respectively. CONCLUSION MiR-185 enhanced the cell proliferation and inhibited the apoptosis of GH3 cells.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Previous studies have indicated that a deletion on the short arm of chromosome 1 negatively predicts survival in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). Due to the small sample size in each study, we performed this meta-analysis to comprehensively investigate the association between the 1p deletion and survival in patients with MM. METHODS A literature search was conducted in both foreign and Chinese databases, including SinoMed, CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus. Hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in 11 eligible articles were extracted or calculated to analyze the pooled HR, which was estimated by fixed-effect or random-effect models based on the heterogeneity between included articles. A subgroup analysis and a meta-regression were conducted, and Galbraith plots were generated to examine any possible heterogeneity. RESULTS The HRs for OS were available in nine articles, whereas five articles discussed HRs for PFS. The HR with 95%CI was 1.989 (95%CI 1.522-2.600, P = 0.017, I(2) = 57.1%) when comparing the OS of patients with 1p deletion with the OS of those without this deletion. For PFS, 1p deletion still predicted a poor prognosis (HR 2.11, 95%CI 1.54-2.88, P = 0.292, I(2) = 19.3%). Moreover, the subgroup analysis suggested that either the deleted gene on 1p or techniques for detecting chromosome abnormalities contributed to the heterogeneity, which was partially consistent with the results derived from a meta-regression analysis and the Galbraith plot method. CONCLUSION Our meta-analysis provides globally quantifiable confirmation of the adverse prognostic role of 1p deletion in OS and PFS for patients with MM.

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM)-associated ED is predominantly due to neurovascular dysfunction mediated by nitric oxide (NO) suppression. Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) are widely used for treating cardiovascular disease in China. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of PNS on penile erection and corpus cavernosum tissues in rats with diabetes-associated ED. Four weeks after PNS treatment, erectile function was assessed by intracavernous pressure (ICP) and mean arterial pressure (MAP) measurements. The level of NO, cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) and advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in cavernous tissue were assessed. Immunohistochemical staining and TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling) were performed for detecting endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) and apoptosis, respectively. The results show that ICP/MAP ratio was significantly increased in high-dose (150 mg kg(-1) per day) PNS-treated group compared with the diabetic ED untreated group (DM group). Compared with the untreated group, the expression of eNOS and the levels of NO and cGMP were increased in the PNS-treated groups. Moreover, apoptosis was markedly decreased in the group that received 150 mg kg(-1) per day of PNS. These results suggest that PNS may be used for improving the ED in diabetic rats via the NO/cGMP pathway and restores the function of endothelium in corpus cavernosum.

Abstract
AIMS S-adenosyl-l-methionine (SAM) is an important biochemical molecule with great potential in the pharmacological and chemotherapeutic fields. In this study, our aims were to enhance SAM production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. METHODS AND RESULTS Through spaceflight culture, a SAM-accumulating strain, S. cerevisiae H5M147, was isolated and found to produce 86·89% more SAM than its ground control strain H5. Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis demonstrated that there were genetic variations between strain H5M147 and its ground control. Through recombinant DNA technology, the heterologous gene encoding methionine adenosyltransferase was integrated into the genome of strain H5M147. The recombinant strain H5MR83 was selected because its SAM production was increased by 42·98% when compared to strain H5M147. Furthermore, cultivation conditions were optimized using the one-factor-at-a-time and Taguchi methods. Under optimal conditions, strain H5MR83 yielded 7·76 g l(-1) of SAM in shake flask, an increase of 536·07% when compared to the strain H5. Furthermore, 9·64 g l(-1) of SAM was produced in fermenter cultivation. CONCLUSIONS A new SAM-accumulating strain, S. cerevisiae H5MR83, was obtained through spaceflight culture and genetic modification. Under optimal conditions, SAM production was increased to a relative high level in our study. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY Through comprehensive application of multiple methods including spaceflight culture, genetic modification and optimizing cultivation, the yield of SAM could be increased by 6·4 times compared to that in the control strain H5. The obtained S. cerevisiae H5MR83 produced 7·76 g l(-1) of SAM in the flask cultures, a significant improvement on previously reported results. The SAM production period with S. cerevisiae H5MR83 was 84 h, which is shorter than previously reported results. Saccharomyces cerevisiae H5MR83 has considerable potential for use in industrial applications.

Abstract
The rumen content of four Yunnan Yellow Cattle (Bos taurs) were collected to determine the bacteria diversity by using 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. A total of 129 sequences were examined and the sequences were referred as 107 OTU (Operational Taxonomy Unit) according to the similarity level of 97% in gene sequence. Similarity analysis revealed that Yunnan Yellow Cattle had 12 sequences (10 OTU) shared 97% or greater similarity with cultured rumen bacteria Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens, Succiniclasticum ruminis, Ruminococcus bromii, Clostridium proteoclasticum, Ruminococcus flavefaciens, Pseudobutyrivibrio ruminis, Jeotgalicoccus psychrophilus, and Prevotella ruminicola, which accounting for 9.3% of the total clones (9.2% of the total OTU). The further 12 sequences (9 OTU) shared 90-97% similarity with cultured bacteria Clostridium aminobutyricum, butyrate-producing bacterium, Schwartzia succinivorans, Prevotella ruminicola, Eubacterium ruminantium, Ruminococcus albus, and Clostridium termitidis, also accounting for 9.3% of the total sequences (8.3% of the total OTU). The remaining 105 sequences (90 OTU) shared less than 90% similarity with cultured bacteria, accounting for 81.4% of the total sequences (82.5% of the total OTU). According to the phylogenetic analysis, all sequences were phylogenetically placed within phyla of low G+C subdivision (accounting for 72.1 and 72.5% of the total clones and OTU, respectively) and CFB subdivision (Cytophaga-Flexibacter-Bacteroides; accounting for 27.9 and 27.5% of the total clones and OTU, respectively). Among the examined clones, rare bacteria Jeotgalicoccus psychrophilus was detected in the rumen of cattle.

Abstract
There are hump, humpless cattle and gayal distributed in Yunnan province, south-west China, but their genetic background remains unclear. To determine the origin and genetic diversity of Yunnan gayal and cattle (Diqing, Nujiang and Wenshan cattle), we analysed mtDNA control region sequences of 71 samples and SRY gene sequences of 39 samples, together with the available sequences in GenBank. The neighbour-joining phylogeny and the reduced median network analysis showed that Yunnan gayal originated from the hybridization between male Bos frontalis and female Bos taurus or Bos indicus, and that Yunnan cattle mostly originated from B. indicus, also containing some hybrids of male B. indicus and female B. taurus. The phylogenetic pattern of Yunnan cattle was consistent with the recently described cattle matrilineal pool from China and indicated more contribution to the Yunnan cattle from B. indicus than from B. taurus.

Abstract
Library of ruminal protozoal 18S rRNA of Yunnan Yellow Cattle has been constructed in the present study. Phylogenic analysis of sequences was meanwhile employed to reveal the diversity of protozoa in the rumen of Yunnan Yellow Cattle. One Yellow Cattle was fed malt meal (YCRPB) and the other was fed wheat straw (YCRPS). A protozoa-specific primer (P-SSU-342f) and a eukarya-specific primer (Medlin B) were used to amplify a 1,360-bp fragment of DNA encoding protozoal small subunit (SSU) ribosomal RNA from rumen fluid. The results showed as follows: A total of 121 clones were obtained and fell into four genera identified as Entodinium (66.9%), Dasytricha (5.8%), Isotricha (9.1%), and Diplodinium (18.2%). Within the genus Entidinium, 48 of the YCRPB sequences and 33 of the YCRPS sequences clustered with the Entodinium caudatum. 7 of the YCRPB sequences were phylogenetically placed within the genus Dasytricha. 11 of the YCRPB sequences were related with high confidence to Isotricha intestinalis. 22 of the YCRPS sequences were phylogenetically placed within the genus Diplodinium. The predominant protozoal genus identified in the rumen fluid belonged to the Entodinium group, and the divergences between two cattle may due to diet and individual differences.

Abstract
Metabolism and hatchability are impaired when chicken eggs laid at sea level are incubated at high altitude. The Tibetan chicken is an excellent local poultry breed that inhabits altitudes of 2,900 m and has a hatchability of approximately 75% at that altitude. To understand how Tibetan chicken embryos develop successfully at high altitude, we compared blood gas, pH, hemoglobin concentrations and embryo mass for Tibetan chicken embryos (T) and for embryos from a dwarf breed (D) that normally is reared at sea level. The 2 breeds (T and D) and 2 incubation altitudes (2,900 m = high, H; and 100 m = low, L) were compared at 9, 12, 15, and 18 d of incubation. Embryo weights were lower for the high altitude groups (TH, DH) than for the low altitude groups at all stages of incubation. The embryo mass of TH appeared to increase more quickly than that of DH. Compared with DH, TH embryos had lower arterialized oxygen partial pressure on d 18, higher venous carbon dioxide partial pressure from d 12 to 18, and higher hemoglobin concentration and lower venous blood pH values on d 12 and 15. These findings indicate that the ability of the Tibetan chicken embryos to adapt to the high altitude may be due to the increase in hemoglobin concentration, which augments the blood oxygen-carrying capacity. In addition, the higher venous carbon dioxide partial pressure and lower venous blood pH promote unloading of oxygen from hemoglobin.

Abstract
Measurements were made in Black-boned (n = 40) and normal (n = 23) sheep (Ovis aries) from a flock in Nanping County of Yunnan Province, China, as well as a group (n = 21) of Romney Marsh sheep (O. aries) with the view to explaining the basis of the dark pigmentation occurring in the Black-boned animals. Plasma colour was significantly darker (P < 0.01) in Black-boned sheep than in their normal flock mates, which in turn had significantly darker plasma (P < 0.01) than the Romney Marsh sheep. Similar significant (P < 0.01) differences were measured for plasma tyrosinase activity and both groups of sheep from Nanping County had similar plasma concentrations of glutathione which were significantly smaller (P < 0.01) than for the Romney Marsh sheep.A partial fragment of 750 bp of exon 1 of the gene encoding tyrosinase was constructed and found to contain two silent mutation sites (G192C and C462T) but there was no effect on amino acid sequences of tyrosinase. Using restriction fragment length polymorphism analyses two allelic variants of site G192C were identified giving rise to the genotypes GG, GC and CC; the frequencies of allele G being 0.914, 0.824 and 0.286 in the Black-boned sheep, their flock mates and the Romney Marsh sheep respectively. Plasma tyrosinase activity was similar for genotypes GG and GC and for both genotypes significantly higher (P < 0.05) than for genotype CC. The sheep from Nanping County displayed only the GG and GC genotypes and had predominantly black or black and white coat colour whereas the Romney Marsh sheep were of either genotype GC or CC and exhibited only white coat colouration. It is not appears that the dark pigmentation of the Black-boned sheep arises because of polymorphisms in the exon 1 of tyrosinase gene. However, this result could explain the differences between Black-boned and Romney Marsh sheep but not for differences between Black-boned and Nanping Normal sheep. Moreover, this result has provided evidence of genetic markers in the form of polymorphisms of the tyrosinase gene which may help to find the black traits causing mutations. There would be merit in further studies using histochemical and molecular techniques to elucidate the causes of the dark pigmentation in these Black-boned sheep.

Abstract
Here we report for the first time the discovery of sheep that have black bones and black muscles. The spectral pattern of pigment extracted from tissues of these black-boned sheep is similar to that of black-boned Chinese silky fowl. Additionally, black-boned sheep have significantly higher plasma colour, tyrosinase activity and kidney function than normal sheep. Synonymous nucleotide substitutions in the tyrosinase (TYR) and melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R) genes were detected in black-boned sheep when compared with the corresponding sequences in normal sheep. In addition, a missense mutation (215T>C) in exon 2 of tyrosinase-related protein 1 (TYRP1) was detected in black-boned sheep, and this resulted in a putative valine-to-alanine substitution at codon 68 (Val68Ala).
