Abstract
BACKGROUND Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) has an established role for the diagnosis of clinically significant prostate cancer (sPCa). The PRIMARY trial demonstrated that [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) was associated with a significant improvement in sensitivity and negative predictive value for sPCa detection. OBJECTIVE To demonstrate that addition of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) radioligand PET/CT will enable some men to avoid transperineal prostate biopsy without missing sPCa, and will facilitate biopsy targeting of PSMA-avid sites. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS This multicentre, two-arm, phase 3, randomised controlled trial will recruit 660 participants scheduled to undergo biopsy. Eligible participants will have clinical suspicion of sPCa with a Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) score of 2 and red flags, or a PI-RADS score of 3 on mpMRI (PI-RADS v2). Participants will be randomised at a 1:1 ratio in permuted blocks stratified by centre. The trial is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT05154162. INTERVENTION In the experimental arm, participants will undergo pelvic PSMA PET/CT. Local and central reviewers will interpret scans independently using the PRIMARY score. Participants with a positive result will undergo targeted transperineal prostate biopsies, whereas those with a negative result will undergo prostate-specific antigen monitoring alone. In the control arm, all participants undergo template transperineal prostate biopsies. Participants will be followed for subsequent clinical care for up to 2 yr after randomisation. OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS sPCa is defined as Gleason score 3 + 4 (≥10%) = 7 disease (grade group 2) or higher on transperineal prostate biopsy. Avoidance of transperineal prostate biopsy will be measured at 6 mo from randomisation. The primary endpoints will be analysed on an intention-to-treat basis. CONCLUSIONS Patient enrolment began in March 2022, with recruitment expected to take 36 mo. PATIENT SUMMARY For patients with suspected prostate cancer who have nonsuspicious or unclear MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan findings, a different type of scan (called PSMA PET/CT; prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computed tomography) may identify men who could avoid an invasive prostate biopsy. This type of scan could also help urologists in better targeting of samples from suspicious lesions during prostate biopsies.

Abstract
Innovative multi-omics frameworks integrate diverse datasets from the same patients to enhance our understanding of the molecular and clinical aspects of cancers. Advanced omics and multi-view clustering algorithms present unprecedented opportunities for classifying cancers into subtypes, refining survival predictions and treatment outcomes, and unravelling key pathophysiological processes across various molecular layers. However, with the increasing availability of cost-effective high-throughput technologies (HTT) that generate vast amounts of data, analyzing single layers often falls short of establishing causal relations. Integrating multi-omics data spanning genomes, epigenomes, transcriptomes, proteomes, metabolomes, and microbiomes offers unique prospects to comprehend the underlying biology of complex diseases like cancer. This discussion explores algorithmic frameworks designed to uncover cancer subtypes, disease mechanisms, and methods for identifying pivotal genomic alterations. It also underscores the significance of multi-omics in tumor classifications, diagnostics, and prognostications. Despite its unparalleled advantages, the integration of multi-omics data has been slow to find its way into everyday clinics. A major hurdle is the uneven maturity of different omics approaches and the widening gap between the generation of large datasets and the capacity to process this data. Initiatives promoting the standardization of sample processing and analytical pipelines, as well as multidisciplinary training for experts in data analysis and interpretation, are crucial for translating theoretical findings into practical applications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the impact of clinico-pathological prognostic factors on survival in patients with GBC OSCC. To evaluate the association between various clino-pathological and treatment factors influencing the 3-year and 5-year Overall survival (OS), and Disease specific survival (DSS) in patients with lower GBC OSCC. PATIENTS & METHODS An Institutional Ethical Committee (IEC) approved retrospective chart audit was performed. Biopsy proven squamous cell cancer of gingivobuccal complex (GBC OSCC) patients from 2010 to 2019 who were treated primarily with surgery with or without adjuvant therapy having complete clinicopathological and follow up data were included. Survival outcomes including 2-year, 3-year & 5-year OS, and DSS were calculated and analyzed. A multivariate analysis was performed to identify significant predictor for the survival outcomes. A p-value < 0.05 was considered significant. RESULTS 183 patients with primary OSCC were identified out of which 83 patients comprised of OSCC of lower GBC. Age (p < 0.001), tumor grade (p = 0.009), pN status (p = 0.002), PNI (p < 0.001), lymph node metastasis (p = 0.002), treatment given (p = 0.02) and adjuvant therapy (p = 0.02) were found as a significant prognostic factor in univariate analysis. CONCLUSION The OS & DSS of the patients with lower GBC SCC is 78.3%. The 2-year, 3-year, and 5-year OS of the study population was reported to be 95.2%, 87.9%, and 78.8% respectively. PNI & lymph node metastasis were significant prognostic factor for OS with an adjusted hazard ratio 4.91 and 7.75 respectively.

Abstract
In pursuit of advancing photocatalysts for superior performance in water treatment and clean energy generation, researchers are increasingly focusing on layered double hydroxides (LDHs) which have garnered significant attention due to their customizable properties, morphologies, distinctive 2D layered structure and flexible options for modifying anions and cations. No review has previously delved specifically into ZnCr and NiCr LDH-based photocatalysts and therefore, this review highlights the recent surge in ZnCr and NiCr-based LDHs as potential photocatalysts for their applications in water purification and renewable energy generation. The structural and fundamental characteristics of layered double hydroxides and especially ZnCr-LDHs and NiCr-LDHs are outlined. Further, the various synthesis techniques for the preparation of ZnCr-LDHs, NiCr-LDHs and their composite and heterostructure materials have been briefly discussed. The applicability of ZnCr-LDH and NiCr-LDH based photocatalysts in tackling significant issues in water treatment and sustainable energy generation is the main emphasis of this review. It focuses on photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants in wastewater, elucidating the principles and advancements for enhancing the efficiency of these materials. It also explores their role in H2 production through water splitting, conversion of CO2 into valuable fuels and NH3 synthesis from N2, shedding light on their potential for clean energy solutions. The insights presented herein offer valuable guidance for researchers working towards sustainable solutions for environmental remediation and renewable energy generation.

Abstract
Lignocellulolytic enzymes from a novel Myceliophthora verrucosa (5DR) strain was found to potentiate the efficacy of benchmark cellulase during saccharification of acid/alkali treated bagasse by ~ 2.24 fold, indicating it to be an important source of auxiliary enzymes. The De-novo sequencing and analysis of M. verrucosa genome (31.7 Mb) revealed to encode for 7989 putative genes, representing a wide array of CAZymes (366) with a high proportions of auxiliary activity (AA) genes (76). The LC/MS QTOF based secretome analysis of M. verrucosa showed high abundance of glycosyl hydrolases and AA proteins with cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) (AA8), being the most prominent auxiliary protein. A gene coding for lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) was expressed in Pichia pastoris and CDH produced by M. verrucosa culture on rice straw based solidified medium were purified and characterized. The mass spectrometry of LPMO catalyzed hydrolytic products of avicel showed the release of both C1/C4 oxidized products, indicating it to be type-3. The lignocellulolytic cocktail comprising of in-house cellulase produced by Aspergillus allahabadii strain spiked with LPMO & CDH exhibited enhanced and better hydrolysis of mild alkali deacetylated (MAD) and unwashed acid pretreated rice straw slurry (UWAP), when compared to Cellic CTec3 at high substrate loading rate.

Abstract
Amyloid precursor protein (APP) plays a pivotal role in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. Since the fragmentation of the membrane-bound APP that results in the production of amyloid-beta peptides is the starting point for amyloid toxicity in AD, it is important to investigate the structure and dynamics of APP in a near-native lipid-bilayer environment. However, the reconstitution of APP into a stable/suitable membrane-mimicking lipid environment is a challenging task. In this study, the 99-residue C-terminal domain of APP is successfully reconstituted into polymer nanodiscs and characterized using size-exclusion chromatography, mass spectrometry, solution NMR, and magic-angle spinning solid-state NMR. In addition, the feasibility of using lipid-solubilizing polymers for isolating and characterizing APP in native E. coli membrane environment is demonstrated.

Abstract
Aflatoxin (AFT) contamination poses a significant global public health and safety concern, prompting widespread apprehension. Of the various AFTs, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) stands out for its pronounced toxicity and its association with a spectrum of chronic ailments, including cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and cancer. Lycopene, a lipid-soluble natural carotenoid, has emerged as a potential mitigator of the deleterious effects induced by AFB1 exposure, spanning cardiac injury, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, intestinal damage, and reproductive impairment. This protective mechanism operates by reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and lipid peroxidation, and activating the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway, facilitating the activation of mitochondrial biogenesis, the endogenous antioxidant system, and the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (KEAP1) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator-1 (PGC-1) pathways, as well as regulating the activities of cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes. This review provides an overview of the protective effects of lycopene against AFB1 exposure-induced toxicity and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Furthermore, it explores the safety profile and potential clinical applications of lycopene. The present review underscores lycopene's potential as a promising detoxification agent against AFB1 exposure, with the intent to stimulate further research and practical utilization in this domain.

Abstract
Neurodegenerative diseases pose a growing global health challenge, with limited effective therapeutic options. Mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, apoptosis, and autophagy are common underlying mechanisms in these diseases. Thymol is a phenolic monoterpene compound that has gained attention for its diverse biological properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory activities. Thymol supplementation could provide potential neuroprotection and improve cognitive deficits, depressant-like effects, learning, and memory impairments in rodents. Mechanistic investigations reveal that the neuroprotective effects of thymol involve the improvement of oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and inflammatory response. Several signaling pathways, including mitochondrial apoptotic, NF-κB, AKT, Nrf2, and CREB/BDNF pathways are also involved. In this review, the neuroprotective effects of thymol, the potential molecular mechanisms, safety, applications, and current challenges toward development as a neuroprotective agent were summarized and discussed. We hope that this review provides valuable insights for the further development of this promising natural product as a promising neuroprotective agent.

Abstract
The present study reports a highly thermostable β-glucosidase (GH3) from Rasamsonia emersonii that was heterologously expressed in Pichia pastoris. Extracellular β-glucosidase was purified to homogeneity using single step affinity chromatography with molecular weight of ~ 110 kDa. Intriguingly, the purified enzyme displayed high tolerance to inhibitors mainly acetic acid, formic acid, ferulic acid, vanillin and 5-hydroxymethyl furfural at concentrations exceeding those present in acid steam pretreated rice straw slurry used for hydrolysis and subsequent fermentation in 2G ethanol plants. Characteristics of purified β-glucosidase revealed the optimal activity at 80 °C, pH 5.0 and displayed high thermostability over broad range of temperature 50-70 °C with maximum half-life of ~ 60 h at 50 °C, pH 5.0. The putative transglycosylation activity of β-glucosidase was appreciably enhanced in the presence of methanol as an acceptor. Using the transglycosylation ability of β-glucosidase, the generated low cost mixed glucose disaccharides resulted in the increased induction of R. emersonii cellulase under submerged fermentation. Scaling up the recombinant protein production at fermenter level using temporal feeding approach resulted in maximal β-glucosidase titres of 134,660 units/L. Furthermore, a developed custom made enzyme cocktail consisting of cellulase from R. emersonii mutant M36 supplemented with recombinant β-glucosidase resulted in significantly enhanced hydrolysis of pretreated rice straw slurry from IOCL industries (India). Our results suggest multi-faceted β-glucosidase from R. emersonii can overcome obstacles mainly high cost associated enzyme production, inhibitors that impair the sugar yields and thermal inactivation of enzyme.

Abstract
Subclinical bioprosthetic valve thrombosis (BPVT) is a relatively common finding in asymptomatic patients during follow-up imaging. However, its clinical significance is unclear. Data from registries associate BPVT with elevated valve gradients, thromboembolic complications, recurrence, and valve degeneration. Given the dynamic nature of the disease process, management is challenging. The duration of anticoagulation is unpredictable, and the need for frequent monitoring of BPVT, even in subclinical scenarios, is unclear. Our report is shedding the light on the clinical implications BPVT.

Abstract
Aflatoxins (AFTs), a type of mycotoxin mainly produced by Aspergillus parasiticus and Aspergillus flavus, could be detected in food, feed, Chinese herbal medicine, grain crops and poses a great threat to public health security. Among them, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the most toxic one. Exposure to AFB1 poses various health risks to both humans and animals, including the development of chronic inflammatory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. The molecular mechanisms underlying these risks are intricate and dependent on specific contexts. This review primarily focuses on summarizing the protective effects of quercetin, a natural phenolic compound, in mitigating the toxic effects induced by AFB1 in both in vitro experiments and animal models. Additionally, the review explores the molecular mechanisms that underlie these protective effects. Quercetin has been demonstrated to not only have the direct inhibitory action on the production of AFTs from Aspergillus, both also possess potent ameliorative effects against AFB1-induced cytotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, and neurotoxicity. These effects are attributed to the inhibition of oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, mitochondrial apoptotic pathway, and inflammatory response. It could also directly target several metabolic enzymes (i.e., CYP3As and GSTA1) to reduce the production of toxic metabolites of AFB1 within cells, then reduce AFB1-induced cytotoxicity. In conclusion, this review highlights quercetin is a promising detoxification agent for AFB1. By advancing our understanding of the protective mechanisms offered by quercetin, we aim to contribute to the development of effective detoxification agents against AFB1, ultimately promoting better health outcomes.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs), as emerging pollutants, have attracted the attention of environmentalists, statespersons, and the scientific community over the last few decades. To address the spread of MPs in the environment, it is imperative to develop various removal techniques and materials that are effective, scalable, and ecologically benign. However, to the best of our knowledge, no review has systematically examined the removal of MPs using adsorption or provided an in-depth discussion on various adsorbents. Adsorption is an inexpensive and effective technology for wastewater treatment. Recently, many researchers have conducted studies on MP remediation using diverse adsorbent materials, such as biochar, activated carbon, sponges, carbon nanotubes, metal-layered oxides, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and zeolites. Each adsorbent has advantages and disadvantages. To overcome their disadvantages, researchers have been designing and developing hybrid adsorbents for MP remediation. This review provides insights into these individual adsorbents and also discusses hybrid adsorbents for MP removal. In the face of escalating salinity stress challenges in agricultural systems, this review article delves into the harmonious partnership between hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and nitric oxide (NO) as they collectively act as formidable defenders of plants. Once considered as harmful pollutants, H2S and NO have emerged as pivotal gaseous signal molecules that profoundly influence various facets of plant life. Abstract
BACKGROUND Inpatient procedures are common and important health events for older Americans. To facilitate surgical outcomes research, we sought to create and evaluate lists of International Classification of Disease, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) codes for high-risk inpatient procedures, defined as having at least a 1% inpatient mortality. METHODS This retrospective national cohort study analyzes Medicare claims from 2018 for patients 65 years and older undergoing inpatient procedures. Surgical Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) codes in the inpatient claims were used to identify procedures. We identified the primary ICD-10 procedure code for each patient and then compiled all codes with at least a 1% inpatient mortality yielding three separate lists: one list that was blind to elective versus urgent/emergent status, and one each for urgent/emergent and elective procedures. Clinical review by three surgeons was used to remove procedures unlikely to be the proximate cause of mortality. For evaluation, we examined the mortality of each code among fee-for-service Medicare beneficiaries in 2017, 2019, and 2020 to determine how many of these satisfied the 1% mortality criterion. RESULTS This study included 2,241,419 patients from 2018 undergoing inpatient procedures. The final result included 231 (blind to elective vs urgent/emergent status), 167 (urgent/emergent status), and 119 (elective status) ICD-10 procedure codes for the three lists. Our evaluation from 2017, 2019, and 2020 demonstrated that in our master list, which was blind to elective versus urgent/emergent status, 97.8% of procedures had an inpatient mortality of at least 1%. In our high-risk procedures lists for urgent/emergent and elective procedures, 100% and 94.1% of codes met this requirement. CONCLUSIONS We developed and evaluated lists of ICD-10 codes representing high-risk procedures in patients 65 years and older. These lists will be powerful tools for researchers studying surgical outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND High-risk localised prostate cancer (HRCaP) has high rates of biochemical recurrence; [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 is effective in men with advanced prostate cancer. OBJECTIVE To investigate the dosimetry, safety, and efficacy of upfront [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 in men with HRCaP prior to robotic radical prostatectomy (RP). DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS In this single-arm, phase I/II trial, we recruited men with HRCaP (any of prostate-specific antigen [PSA] >20 ng/ml, International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) grade group [GG] 3-5, and ≥cT2c), with high tumour uptake on [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PSMA PET/CT), and scheduled for RP. INTERVENTION Cohort A (n = 10) received one cycle and cohort B (n = 10) received two cycles of [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 (5 GBq) followed by surgery 6 weeks later. OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS The primary endpoint was tumour radiation absorbed dose. Adverse events (AEs; Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) version 5.0), surgical safety (Clavien-Dindo), imaging, and biochemical responses were evaluated (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT04430192). RESULTS AND LIMITATIONS Between May 29, 2020 and April 28, 2022, 20 patients were enrolled. The median PSA was 18 ng/ml (interquartile range [IQR] 11-35), Eighteen (90%) had GG ≥3, and six (30%) had N1 disease. The median (IQR) highest tumour radiation absorbed dose after cycle 1 for all lesions was 35.5 Gy (19.5-50.1), with 19.6 Gy (11.3-48.4) delivered to the prostate. Five patients received radiation to lymph nodes. Nine (45%) patients achieved >50% PSA decline. The most common AEs related to [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 were grade 1 fatigue in eight (40%), nausea in seven (35%), dry mouth in six (30%), and thrombocytopenia in four (20%) patients. No grade 3/4 toxicities or Clavien 3-5 complications occurred. Limitations include small a sample size. CONCLUSIONS In men with HRCaP and high prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) expression, [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 delivered high levels of targeted radiation doses with few toxicities and without compromising surgical safety. Further studies of [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 in this population are worthwhile to determine whether meaningful long-term oncological benefits can be demonstrated. PATIENT SUMMARY In this study, we demonstrate that up to two cycles of [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 given prior to radical prostatectomy in patients with high-risk localised prostate cancer are safe and deliver targeted doses of radiation to tumour-affected tissues. It is tolerated well with minimal treatment-related adverse events, and surgery is safe with a low rate of complications. Activity measured through PSA reduction, repeat PSMA PET/CT, and histological response is promising.

Abstract
The underlying cause of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is in the reduction of survival motor neuron (SMN) protein levels due to mutations in the SMN1 gene. The specific effects of SMN protein loss and the resulting pathological alterations are not fully understood. Given the crucial roles of the SMN protein in snRNP biogenesis and its interactions with ribosomes and translation-related proteins and mRNAs, a decrease in SMN levels below a specific threshold in SMA is expected to affect translational control of gene expression. This review covers both direct and indirect SMN interactions across various translation-related cellular compartments and processes, spanning from ribosome biogenesis to local translation and beyond. Additionally, it aims to outline deficiencies and alterations in translation observed in SMA models and patients, while also discussing the implications of the relationship between SMN protein and the translation machinery within the context of current and future therapies.

With almost 100 years of the identification and nomenclature of desoxyribose sugar and desoxyribonucleic acid, the term "desoxy" continues to see limited use. We hope that whenever young researchers come across the sporadic occurrence of "desoxy" in any published text, they will not consider it a mistake.

Abstract
Pectin-crosslinked gum ghatti hydrogel (PGH) has been synthesized utilizing pectin and gum ghatti through an uncomplicated and inexpensive copolymerization method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM-elemental mapping), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterization techniques have been employed to determine various structural, chemical and compositional characteristics of fabricated PGH. Three different weight ratios (1:1, 2:1, or 1:2 for pectin and gum ghatti, respectively) were employed to synthesize three distinct types of PGH. Swelling studies has been done to determine the best ratios for PGH fabrication. PGH has been assessed as an adsorbent for the removal of malachite green dye from aqueous solutions. The effects of PGH dosage (100-400 mg/L), dye concentration (10-160 mg/L), pH (2-9 pH), adsorption time (0-480 min), and temperature (25-55 °C) has been examined through batch solutions. According to Langmuir isotherm analysis, the maximum adsorption capacity is 658.1 mg/g. By using pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Freundlich adsorption isotherm, the adsorption process could be well explained. After five consecutive cycles, PGH had an adsorption percentage of 86.917 % for the malachite green dye. It is safe for the environment and may be used to remove malachite green (MG) dye from aqueous solutions.

Abstract
Severe insulin resistance syndromes result from primary insulin signaling defects, adipose tissue abnormalities or other complex syndromes. Mutations in TBC1D4 lead to partial insulin signaling defects, characterized mainly by postprandial insulin resistance. We describe an individual with severe insulin-resistant diabetes unresponsive to multiple therapies, in whom exome and genome analyses identified a complex rearrangement in TBC1D4. The rearrangement was of the pattern DUP-TRP/INV-DUP, with mutational signatures suggestive of replicative repair and Alu-Alu recombination as the underlying mechanisms. TBC1D4 encodes the TBC1D4/AS160 RabGTPase activating protein (RabGAP) involved in the translocation of glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) from the cytosol to the cell membrane. Although the precise functional mechanism underlying insulin resistance in the proband is yet to be determined, this case provides further support for the link between TBC1D4 and hereditary insulin-resistant diabetes.

Abstract
Cyclin dependent kinase 4 and 6 inhibitors such as abemaciclib are routinely used to treat metastatic estrogen receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer. However, adaptive mechanisms inhibit their effectiveness and allow for disease progression. Using ER+ breast cancer cell models, we show that acquired resistance to abemaciclib is accompanied by increase in metastatic potential. Mass spectrometry-based proteomics from abemaciclib sensitive and resistant cells showed that lysosomal proteins including CTSD (cathepsin D), cathepsin A and CD68 were significantly increased in resistant cells. Combination of abemaciclib and a lysosomal destabilizer, such as hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) or bafilomycin A1, resensitized resistant cells to abemaciclib. Also, combination of abemaciclib and HCQ decreased migration and invasive potential and increased lysosomal membrane permeability in resistant cells. Prosurvival B cell lymphoma 2 (BCL2) protein levels were elevated in resistant cells, and a triple treatment with abemaciclib, HCQ, and BCL2 inhibitor, venetoclax, significantly inhibited cell growth compared to treatment with abemaciclib and HCQ. Furthermore, resistant cells showed increased levels of Transcription Factor EB (TFEB), a master regulator of lysosomal-autophagy genes, and siRNA mediated knockdown of TFEB decreased invasion in resistant cells. TFEB was found to be mutated in a subset of invasive human breast cancer samples, and overall survival analysis in ER+, lymph node-positive breast cancer showed that increased TFEB expression correlated with decreased survival. Collectively, we show that acquired resistance to abemaciclib leads to increased metastatic potential and increased levels of protumorigenic lysosomal proteins. Therefore, the lysosomal pathway could be a therapeutic target in advanced ER+ breast cancer.

Abstract
Ovarian cancer (OCa) is the most lethal form of gynecologic cancer, and the tumor heterogeneities at the molecular, cellular, and tissue levels fuel tumor resistance to standard therapies and pose a substantial clinical challenge. Here, we tested the hypothesis that the heightened basal endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) observed in OCa represents an exploitable vulnerability and may overcome tumor heterogeneity. Our recent studies identified LIPA as a novel target to induce ERS in cancer cells using the small molecule ERX-41. However, the role of LIPA and theutility of ERX-41 to treat OCa remain unknown. Expression analysis using the TNMplot web tool, TCGA data sets, and immunohistochemistry analysis using a tumor tissue array showed that LIPA is highly expressed in OCa tissues, compared to normal tissues. ERX-41 treatment significantly reduced the cell viability and colony formation ability and promoted the apoptosis of OCa cells. Mechanistic studies revealed a robust and consistent induction of ERS markers, including CHOP, elF2α, PERK, and ATF4, upon ERX-41 treatment. In xenograft and PDX studies, ERX-41 treatment resulted in a significant reduction in tumor growth. Collectively, our results suggest that ERX-41 is a novel therapeutic agent that targets the LIPA with a unique mechanism of ERS induction, which could be exploited to treat heterogeneity in OCa.

Abstract
Association of increased oxidative stress (OS) with the pathophysiology of renal stone formation has not been explored greatly in the field of urolithiasis. In this prospective case-control study, we measured 24-h urinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels in patients with urolithiasis and compared them with matched healthy controls. We also measured 24-h urinary uric acid, calcium, oxalate, and citrate levels in patients with renal stone disease and studied their relation with urinary 8-OHdG levels. Seventy-five cases of renal stone disease and 75 well-matched controls were included. Median 24-h urinary 8-OHdG levels were significantly higher in cases compared to controls (7.6 vs. 3.7 µg/g of creatinine; p < 0.000). Receiver-operating curve (ROC) analysis for 8-OHdG between cases and controls revealed an area under the curve of 0.90. At 8-OHdG (µg/g of creatinine) value of 5 or more, a sensitivity and a specificity of 84% each were obtained. A positive correlation between 8-OHdG (µg/g of creatinine) and 24-h urinary oxalate level was noted (r = 0.461, p = 0.000). No correlation between 8-OHdG (µg/g of creatinine) and other variables was noted. On multivariate linear regression analysis, we noted 24-h urinary oxalate levels to be an independent predictor of urinary 8-OHdG levels. OS is significantly higher in patients with renal stone diseases compared to healthy controls. Urinary oxalate levels were significantly correlated with urinary 8-OHdG levels.

Abstract
Severe acute respiratory syndrome CoV-2 (SARS-CoV-2) caused the global coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which adversely affected almost all aspects of human life and resulted in the loss of millions of lives, while affecting nearly 0.67 billion people worldwide. SARS-CoV-2 still poses a challenge to the healthcare system as there are more than 200,000 active cases of COVID-19 around the globe. Epidemiological data suggests that the magnitude of morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19 was low in a few geographical regions and was unpredictably higher in a few regions. The genetic diversity of different geographical regions might explain the sporadic prevalence of the disease. In this context, human leukocyte antigens (HLA) represent the most polymorphic gene-dense region of the human genome and serve as an excellent mini-genome model for evaluating population genetic diversity in the context of susceptibility and progression of various diseases. In this review, we highlight the plausible influence of HLA in susceptibility, severity, immune response, and designing of epitope-based vaccines for COVID-19. Further, there is a need for extensive investigations for illustration and clarification of the functional impact of HLA class I and II alleles in the pathogenesis and progression of SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract
Patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) have a significantly higher risk of cardiovascular morbidities. The participation of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in AS is still unknown and inconclusive. Heart rate variability (HRV) is defined as the variability of the time interval between two consecutive heartbeats. This meta-analysis aims to detect the association of HRV and its various parameters with AS patients by comparing them to healthy controls. Research literature was searched in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases from inception to April 2022. The Review Manager 5 (RevMan) Version 5.4 software was used to analyze the data. In addition, the protocol of systematic review is registered in the PROSPERO database with ID CRD42022336484. This study includes a total of nine case-control studies with a total of 923 patients; 409 with AS and 514 healthy controls. The root mean square of successive differences between normal heartbeats (RMSSD) [standardized mean difference (SMD); -0.47, 95% CI: -0.69 to -0.25, p < 0.0001], proportion of NN50 (pNN50) (SMD; -0.89, 95% CI: -1.74 to -0.04, p = 0.04) and HRV (SMD; -1.11, 95% CI: -1.53 to 0.69, P < 0.00001) were significantly low in AS cases compared to healthy controls. The HRV value was also significantly low in patients with high Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity (BASDAI) index (SMD: -1.45, 95% CI: -2.45 to -0.36, p < 0.009). HRV (parasympathetic activity) was significantly lowered in AS patients compared to healthy controls.

Abstract
Background Postoperative shoulder stiffness (POSS) affects a large number of patients undergoing rotator cuff repair (RCR). Diabetes may increase the risk of POSS. Preoperative glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is a convenient measure of glucose control in this group. The aim of the present study was to determine a relationship between preoperative HbA1c and POSS in patients undergoing postero-superior RCR. Methods Two hundred fifty patients with full-thickness postero-superior rotator cuffs who underwent RCR were followed for 6 months. Pre- and post-operative external rotation with arm by the side at 3 and 6 months were measured. Patient demographics, tear characteristics, preoperative HbA1c level, and surgical details were recorded. Patients with subscapularis tears, concomitant instability, partial thickness tears, arthritis, and irreparable rotator cuff tears were excluded. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to determine the association between patient characteristics and POSS at 6 months. Results At the end of 6 months, 16% (41/250) of patients had POSS. Multivariate analysis demonstrated an elevated preoperative HbA1c level was a statistically significant predictor of POSS at 6 months (odds ratio 7.04, P < .01) after posterior superior RCR. Lower preoperative external rotation (P = .02) and female sex (P < .01) were also risk factors associated with POSS. Age, hand dominance, worker's compensation claim status, etiology, and size of the tear, surgical technique, and additional treatments were not statistically significant predictors. Conclusion Elevated preoperative HbA1c level is associated with POSS after RCR. Measuring HbA1c preoperatively may assist clinicians to identify patients at risk of POSS. HbA1c is a modifiable parameter that could then be optimized preoperatively in order to improve outcomes.

Abstract
The fast development of urbanisation and industrialisation has led to a rise in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, specifically nitric oxide (NO). One effective method for reducing the harmful effects of this dangerous air pollutant on both human health and the environment is the photocatalytic oxidation of NO. Z-scheme heterojunctions enhance incident light utilisation and increase photocatalytic activity, eventually leading to better NO oxidation performance by encouraging the effective separation of charges and migration. A comprehensive discussion of Z-scheme-based heterojunctions is provided in this review paper, with a focus on their applications in the photocatalytic oxidation of NO. Significant progress has been made in the fabrication of efficient photocatalytic devices in recent years, with Z-scheme-based heterojunctions proving to be particularly successful. The review looks into the various methodologies used to create Z-scheme-based heterojunctions as well as photocatalytic NO oxidation mechanisms. Recent studies on photocatalysts employing Z-scheme heterojunctions for the photocatalytic oxidation of NO are also discussed. The possibilities for new opportunities as well as the present challenges, barriers, advances, and solutions have been emphasized.

Abstract
The detergent-free isolation of membrane proteins using synthetic polymers is becoming the desired approach for functional and structural studies of membrane proteins. Since the expression levels for many membrane proteins are low and a high yield of functionalized reconstituted membrane proteins is essential for in vitro studies, it is crucial to optimize the experimental conditions for a given polymer to solubilize target membranes/proteins effectively. The factors that affect membrane solubilization and subsequently the isolation of a target membrane protein include polymer concentration, polymer charge, temperature, pH, and concentration of divalent metal ions. Therefore, it is important to have knowledge about the efficacy of different types of polymers in solubilizing cell membranes. In this study, we evaluate the efficacy of inulin-based non-ionic polymers in solubilizing E. coli membranes enriched with rat flavin mononucleotide binding-domain (FBD) of cytochrome-P450-reductase (CPR) and rabbit cytochrome-b5 (Cyt-b5) under various solubilization conditions. Our results show that a 1:1 (w/w) membrane:polymer ratio, low temperature, high pH and sub-millimolar concentration of metal ions favor the solubilization of E. coli membranes enriched with FBD or Cyt-b5. Conversely, the presence of excess divalent metal ions affected the final protein levels in the polymer-solubilized samples. We believe that the results from this study provide knowledge to assess and plan the use of non-ionic polymers in membrane protein studies.

Abstract
Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) are being used in healthcare industries due to its antimicrobial properties. The increased consumption of NPs could lead to the rise of these NPs in the environment affecting the biological systems. Altered microbiome has been correlated to disease pathology in humans as well as xenobiotic toxicity in experimental animal models. However, CuO NPs-induced microbiome alterations in vertebrates have not been reported so far. In this study, for the first time, zebrafish larvae at 96 hpf (hours post fertilization) were exposed to CuO NPs for 24 h at 10, 20, and 40 ppm. After exposure, the control and treated larvae were subjected to 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing followed by relative taxa abundance, alpha and beta diversity analysis, single factor analysis, LEfSe, Deseq2, and functional profiling. No significant alteration was detected in the microbial richness and diversity, however, specific taxa constituting the core microbiome such as phylum Proteobacteria were significantly increased and Bacterioidetes and Firmicutes were decreased in the treated groups, indicating a core microbiota dysbiosis. Further, the family Lachnospiraceae, and genus Syntrophomonas involved in butyrate production and the metabolism of lipids and glucose were significantly altered. In addition, the opportunistic pathogens belonging to order Flavobacteriales were increased in CuO NPs treated groups. Moreover, the taxa involved in host immune response (Shewanella, Delftia, and Bosea) were found to be enriched in CuO NPs exposed larvae. These results indicate that CuO NPs exposure causes alteration in the core microbiota, which could cause colitis or inflammatory bowel disease.

Abstract
Lipid-bilayer nanodiscs provide a stable, native-like membrane environment for the functional and structural studies of membrane proteins and other membrane-binding molecules. Peptide-based nanodiscs having unique properties are developed for membrane protein studies and other biological applications. While the self-assembly process rendering the formation of peptide-nanodiscs is attractive, it is important to understand the stability and suitability of these nanodisc systems for membrane protein studies. In this study, we investigated the nanodiscs formation by the anti-inflammatory and tumor-suppressing peptide AEM28. AEM28 is a chimeric peptide containing a cationic-rich heparan sulfate proteoglycan- (HSPG)-binding domain from human apolipoprotein E (hapoE) (141-150) followed by the 18A peptide's amino acid sequence. AEM28-based nanodiscs made with different types of lipids were characterized using various biophysical techniques and compared with the nanodiscs formed using 2F or 4F peptides. Variable temperature dynamic light-scattering and 31P NMR experiments indicated the fusion and size heterogeneity of nanodiscs at high temperatures. The suitability of AEM28 and Ac-18A-NH2- (2F-) based nanodiscs for studying membrane proteins is demonstrated by reconstituting and characterizing a drug-metabolizing enzyme, cytochrome-P450 (CYP450), or the redox complex CYP450-CYP450 reductase. AEM28 and 2F were also tested for their efficacies in solubilizing E. coli membranes to understand the possibility of using them for detergent-free membrane protein isolation. Our experimental results suggest that AEM28 nanodiscs are suitable for studying membrane proteins with a net positive charge, whereas 2F-based nanodiscs are compatible with any membrane proteins and their complexes irrespective of their charge. Furthermore, both peptides solubilized E. coli cell membranes, indicating their use in membrane protein isolation and other applications related to membrane solubilization.

Abstract
There are several environmental and human health impacts if human hair waste is not adequately disposed of. In this study, pyrolysis of discarded human hair was carried out. This research focused on the pyrolysis of discarded human hair under controlled environmental conditions. The effects of the mass of discarded human hair and temperature on bio-oil yield were studied. The proximate and ultimate analyses and calorific values of disposed of human hair, bio-oil, and biochar were determined. Further, chemical compounds of bio-oil were analyzed using a gas chromatograph and a mass spectrometer. Finally, the kinetic modeling and behavior of the pyrolysis process were characterized through FT-IR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. Based on the optimized mass of disposed of human hair, 250 g had a better bio-oil yield of 97% in the temperature range of 210-300 °C. The different parameters of bio-oil were: pH (2.87), specific gravity (1.17), moisture content (19%), heating value (19.34 MJ/kg), and viscosity (50 CP). C (56.4%), H (6.1%), N (0.16%), S (0.01%), O (38.4%), and Ash (0.1%) were discovered to be the elemental chemical composition of bio-oil (on a dry basis). During breakdown, the release of different compounds like hydrocarbons, aldehydes, ketones, acids, and alcohols takes place. According to the GC-MS results, several amino acids were discovered in the bio-oil, 12 abundant in the discarded human hair. The FTIR and thermal analysis found different concluding temperatures and wave numbers for functional groups. Two main stages are partially separated at about 305 °C, with maximum degradation rates at about 293 oC and 400-4140 °C, respectively. The mass loss was 30% at 293 0C and 82% at temperatures above 293 0C. When the temperature reached 4100C, the entire bio-oil from discarded human hair was distilled or thermally decomposed.

Abstract
Central venous stenosis is a significant and frequently encountered problem in managing hemodialysis (HD) patients. Venous hypertension, often accompanied by severe symptoms, undermines the integrity of the hemodialysis access circuit. In central venous stenosis, dialysis through an arteriovenous fistula is usually inefficient, with high recirculation rates and prolonged bleeding after dialysis. Central vein stenosis is a known complication of indwelling intravascular and cardiac devices, such as peripherally inserted central catheters, long-term cuffed hemodialysis catheters, and pacemaker wires. Hence, preventing this challenging condition requires minimization of central venous catheter use. Endovascular interventions are the primary approach for treating central vein stenosis. Percutaneous angioplasty and stent placement may reestablish vascular function in cases of elastic and recurrent lesions. Currently, there is no consensus on the optimal treatment, as existing management approaches have a wide range of patency rates.

Abstract
Prostate adenocarcinomas with metastatic cranial involvement are rare, with signs and symptoms overlapping with those of the primary base of the skull tumour. The diagnosis was made following a biopsy of the suspected lesions that indicated the possibility of a prostatic primary malignancy based on immunohistochemistry using prostate-specific membrane antigen and subsequently confirmed histologically. We report an unusual case of a 52-year-old male who presented with unilateral proptosis and no prior urological history. Cranial, pulmonary, and thoracolumbar spinal metastases were identified with radiological imaging. We describe the diagnostic evaluation and treatment, as well as outline the rare nature of this case of cranial metastasis of prostate cancer.

Abstract
Objectives The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of eye dominance on color perception, and shade matching. Materials and Methods A total of 104 participants were selected for the study. There were 3 groups: Group I: 3rd and 4th year dental students and interns (n = 40); Group II: postgraduates (n = 34); Group III: senior residents and faculty members (≥ 6 years of clinical experience) (n = 30). All participants were evaluated for congenital color blindness with Ishihara plates, their dominant eye with Mile's test, and their color perception with the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test. The shade guide test was used for shade matching with a second corresponding set of Vitapan classical shade guides. Results The results of Mile's test revealed that 60.6% were right-eye dominant and 39.4% were left-eye dominant. There was a statistically significant difference among all participants between the dominant eye and the non-dominant eye in shade matching. Conclusions The dominant eye has a positive effect on shade matching and the ability to match shades becomes better with an increase in clinical experience.

Abstract
A primary objective of a medico-legal autopsy is to determine the identity of the deceased. The act of praying for prolonged periods of time can lead to the development of skin marks in Muslims, commonly referred to as "Naamaj signs" or prayer marks. An elderly male of unknown identity was brought dead to the hospital, where a post-mortem examination was performed. The patient's name in the treatment records suggested that the deceased was a member of the non-Muslim community, conflicting with the post-mortem examination report indicating circumcision and belonging to the Muslim Community. The disposal authority questioned whether cremation or burial was more suitable for the deceased. When it comes to cases involving religious identification, basing a decision on a single feature alone is not enough to permit the disposal of a deceased body. It is crucial to take into account other characteristics before determining the appropriate disposal method.

Abstract
Introduction Developmental dysplasia of hip (DDH) is an abnormal development of hip joint which when neglected in early age group can lead to joint pain and secondary osteoarthritic changes. Crowe types III and IV neglected DDH joint is widely managed with total hip arthroplasty with subtrochanteric shortening. Case Report A 52-year-old female presented with neglected DDH joint which was managed in two stages with femoral lowering followed by uncemented total hip arthroplasty without osteotomy. Conclusion With the two-stage procedure, subtrochanteric shortening which is widely accepted management for neglected DDH and the related complications were avoidable with a satisfactory Harris hip score.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE High-flow hemodialysis accesses are a well-recognized source of patient morbidity. Among available management strategies inflow constriction based on real-time physiologic flow monitoring offers a technically straightforward data-driven approach with potentially low morbidity. Despite the benefits offered by this approach, large contemporary series are lacking. METHODS A retrospective review of a prospectively maintained clinical database was undertaken to capture patients undergoing precision banding within a signal tertiary care institution between 2010 and 2019. Multivariable logistic regression modeling of thrombosis within 30 days and re-banding within 1 year were performed. RESULTS In total, 297 patients underwent banding during the study period for a total number of 398 encounters. Median [IQR] follow-up was 157 [52-373] days. Most accesses were upper arm with brachial artery inflow (84%) and half of the banding procedures were performed for flow imbalance based on exam, duplex, or fistulogram. Median flow rate reduction was 58%. The 30-day thrombosis rate after banding was 15 of 397 (3.8%) with a median time to event of 5.5 days (2-102). The re-banding rate within a year was 54 of 398 (14%) with a median time to re-banding of 134 days [56-224]. Multivariate logistic regression analysis using a univariate screen did not identify any predictors of 30-day thrombosis. Having a forearm radial-cephalic AVF compared to all other access types was protective against need for rebanding at 1 year (OR 0.12 95% CI 0.02-0.92, p = 0.04), as was flow imbalance as the indication for banding (OR 0.43 95% 0.23-0.79, p = 0.006). CONCLUSIONS Precision banding offers an effective, low-morbidity approach for high-flow hemodialysis accesses. Early thrombosis is a rare event after precision banding, although in the long term, one in four patients will require re-banding to maintain control of flow volumes.

Abstract
RATIONALE Hesperidin (HES) is a well-known citrus bioflavonoid phyto-nutraceutical agent with polypharmacological properties. After 2019, HES was widely used for prophylaxis and COVID-19 treatment. Moreover, it is commonly prescribed for treating varicose veins and other diseases in routine clinical practice. Pharmaceutical impurities and degradation products (DP) impact the drug's quality and safety and thus its effectiveness. Therefore, forced degradation studies help study drug stability, degradation mechanisms, and their DPs. This study was performed because stress stability studies using detailed structural characterization of hesperidin are currently unavailable in the literature. METHODS In the HES enrichment method crude HES was converted to its pure form (98% purity) using column chromatography and then subjected to forced degradation under acid, base, and neutral hydrolyses followed by oxidative, reductive, photolytic, and thermal stress testing (International Conference on Harmonization guidelines). The stability-indicating analytical method (SIAM) was developed to determine DPs using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (C18 column with methanol and 0.1% v/v acetic acid in deionized water [70:30, v/v] at 284 nm). Further, structural characterization of DPs was performed using liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. In addition, in silico toxicity predictions were performed using pKCSM and DataWarior freeware. RESULTS HES was found to be susceptible to acidic and basic hydrolytic conditions and yielded three DPs in each, which were detected using designed SIAM. Of six DPs, three were pseudo-DPs (short lived), and the remaining were characterized using LC-MS/MS and NMR spectroscopy. The tentative mechanism of the formation of proposed DPs was explained. The proposed DPs were found inactive from in silico toxicity predictions. CONCLUSIONS Hesperidin was labile under acidic and basic stress conditions. The potential DPs were characterized using LC-ESI-MS/MS and NMR spectral techniques. The proposed mechanism of formation was hypothesized. In addition, to identify and characterize the DPs, a SIAM, which has broad biomedical applications, was successfully developed.

Abstract
Berberine (BBR), an isoquinoline alkaloid natural product, is isolated primarily from Coptis chinensis and other Berberis plants. BBR possesses various bioactivities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammation, anticancer, immune-regulation, and antimicrobial activities. Growing scientific evidence underscores BBR's substantial neuroprotective potential, prompting increased interest and scrutiny. In this comprehensive review, we elucidate the neuroprotective attributes of BBR, delineate the underlying molecular mechanisms, and assess its clinical safety and efficacy. The multifaceted molecular mechanisms responsible for BBR's neuroprotection encompass the attenuation of oxidative stress, mitigation of inflammatory responses, inhibition of apoptotic pathways, facilitation of autophagic processes, and modulation of CYP450 enzyme activities, neurotransmitter levels, and gut microbiota composition. Furthermore, BBR engages numerous signaling pathways, including the PI3K/Akt, NF-κB, AMPK, CREB, Nrf2, and MAPK pathways, to confer its neuroprotective effects. This comprehensive review aims to provide a substantial knowledge base, stimulate broader scientific discourse, and facilitate advancements in the application of BBR for neuroprotection.

Abstract
The dramatic rise in carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere caused by the continuous use of carbon fuels continues to have a significant impact on environmental degradation and the disappearance of energy reserves. Past few years have seen a significant increase in the interest in photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction because of its ability to lower CO2 releases from the burning of fossil fuels while also producing fuels and important chemical products. Because of their excellent catalytic efficiency, great uniformity, lengthy charge diffusion layers and texture flexibility that enable accurate band gap and band line optimization, perovskite-based nanomaterials are perhaps the most advantageous among the numerous semiconductors proficient in accelerating CO2 conversion under visible light. Firstly, a brief insight into photocatalytic CO2 conversion mechanism and structural features of perovskites are discussed. Further the classification and selection of perovskites for Z and S-scheme heterojunctions and their role in photocatalytic CO2 reduction analysed. The efficient modification and engineering of heterojunctions via co-catalyst loading, morphology control and vacancy introduction have been comprehensively reviewed. Third, the state-of-the-art achievements of perovskite-based Z-scheme and S-scheme heterojunctions are systematically summarized and discussed. Finally, the challenges, bottlenecks and future perspectives are discussed to provide a pathway for applying perovskite-based heterojunctions for solar-to-chemical energy conversion.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to compare the success rate of infrazygomatic mini-implants between adolescents and young adults. METHODS A total of 60 subjects of different age groups ie, (group I [adolescents]: 12-18 years, mean age: 14.9 ± 2.9 years; group II [young adults]: 19-25 years, mean age = 21.9 ± 3.1 years) were assessed in the study. En-masse retraction of maxillary anterior teeth was carried out with extraction of upper first premolars with infrazygomatic crest (IZC) mini-implants as anchorage units. Clinical parameters such as success rate, soft tissue thickness, maximum insertion torque, maximum removal torque, pain response, soft tissue response, and cone-beam computed tomography parameters such as embedded angulation, penetration depth, thickness of bone on buccal and palatal aspect of mini-implant, and peri-implant bone density were evaluated. RESULTS The success rate of IZC mini-implants in adolescents was found to be 96.6% and 98.3% in young adults respectively. There was no significant difference in success rate between the two groups. Intergroup comparison showed a significant difference (P < 0.05) in terms of maximum insertion torque, maximum removal torque, soft tissue thickness, cortical bone thickness, and peri-implant bone density values. Comparison between right and left side revealed a significant difference (P < 0.05) with regards to soft tissue response, soft tissue thickness, total bone thickness, cortical bone thickness, and peri-implant bone density. CONCLUSIONS There was no significant difference in the success rate of IZC mini-implants between adolescents and young adults. Thus, the use of IZC mini-implants can be recommended in adolescents for successful orthodontic treatment.

Abstract
The present paper describes the design of shape-oriented hydrogel nanospheres using a facile ultrasonication-supported crosslinked copolymerization technique. The effect of variable monomer concentration on the homogeneity of hydrogel nanospheres was investigated. The chitosan-cl-poly(MMA) hydrogel nanospheres were well characterized using various techniques such as FTIR, XRD, TGA, SEM, and TEM. The chitosan-cl-poly(MMA) hydrogel nanospheres were studied for their swelling behavior and could potentially be used as a novel adsorbent for rhodamine B dye remediation from aqueous media. The study found that utilizing chitosan-cl-poly(MMA) nanohydrogel spheres at the optimal pH 5 increased RhB dye adsorption capacity from 7.9 to 17.8 mg/g (pH 2 to 5), followed by a slight reduction. Furthermore, when nanohydrogel concentration increased, adsorption capacity dropped from 18.03 to 2.8 mg/g, but adsorption percentage climbed from 90.2% to 97.8%. At an initial dye concentration of 140 mg/L, rhodamine B adsorption achieved 204.3 mg/g in 60 min. The rhodamine B dye adsorption study includes adsorption kinetics, isotherm, and thermodynamics analyses. The interpretation of the adsorption study revealed that Langmuir isotherms fit best with a qmax value of 276.26 mg/g, which is in close approximation with the experimental value, whereas pseudo-second-order kinetics explains the adsorption process rate. The interaction of RhB dye with chitosan-cl-poly(MMA) hydrogel nanospheres involves multiple forces such as electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, van der Waals forces, etc.

Abstract
Introduction Dengue fever is hyperendemic in several Southeast and South Asian countries, including India, with all four serotypes (DENV 1-4) circulating at different periods and in different locations. Sustainable and improved virological and entomological surveillance is the only tool to prevent dengue and other vector-borne diseases. Objectives The present study has been carried out to detect and characterize the circulating dengue virus (DENV) in field-collected Aedes mosquitoes in Bhopal, Central India. Methods Aedes mosquitoes were collected from 29 localities within Bhopal city during October 2020 to September 2022. DENV infection was assessed in the individual head and thorax regions of Aedes mosquitoes using reverse transcriptase PCR. Positive samples were sequenced, and the circulating serotypes and genotypes were determined using phylogenetic analysis. Results DENV RNA was detected in 7 Aedes aegypti and 1 Aedes albopictus, with infection rates of 0.59 and 0.14%, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis revealed all the isolates belonged to DENV serotype 2 and distinctly clustered with the non-Indian lineage (cosmopolitan genotype 4a), which was not recorded from the study area earlier. The time to most common recent ancestor (TMRCA) of these sequences was 7.4 years old, with the highest posterior density (HPD) of 3.5-12.2 years, indicating that this new lineage emerged during the year 2014. This is the first report on the DENV incrimination in both Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus mosquitoes collected from Bhopal, Central India. Conclusion The observed emergence of the non-Indian lineage of DENV-2 in Bhopal, which again is a first report from the area, coincides with the gradual increase in DENV cases in Bhopal since 2014. This study emphasizes the importance of DENV surveillance and risk assessment in this strategically important part of the country to decipher its outbreak and severe disease-causing potential.

Abstract
A dynamically tunable metal clad planar waveguide having 0.62PMN-0.38PT material is simulated and optimized for detection of cancer cells. Angular interrogation of the TE0 mode of waveguide shows that critical angle increases greater than the resonance angle with increasing of cover refractive index, which limits the detection range of waveguide. To overcome this limitation, proposed waveguide applies a potential on the PMN-PT adlayer. Although a sensitivity of 105.42 degree/RIU was achieved at 70 Volts in testing the proposed waveguide, it was found that the optimal performance parameters were obtained at 60 Volts. At this voltage, the waveguide demonstrated detection range 1.3330-1.5030, a detection accuracy 2393.33, and a figure of merit 2243.59 RIU-1 , which enabled the detection of the entire range of the targeted cancer cells. Therefore, it is recommended to apply a potential of 60 Volts to achieve the best performance from the proposed waveguide.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease type 1A (CMT1A), the most common inherited peripheral neuropathy, is characterized by progressive sensory loss and weakness, which results in impaired mobility. Increased understanding of the genetics and pathophysiology of CMT1A has led to development of potential therapeutic agents, necessitating clinical trial readiness. Wearable sensors may provide useful outcome measures for future trials. METHODS Individuals with CMT1A and unaffected controls were recruited for this 12-month study. Participants wore sensors for in-clinic assessments and at-home, from which activity, gait, and balance metrics were derived. Mann-Whitney U tests were used to analyze group differences for activity, gait, and balance parameters. Test-retest reliability of gait and balance parameters and correlations of these parameters with clinical outcome assessments (COAs) were examined. RESULTS Thirty individuals, 15 CMT1A, and 15 controls, participated. Gait and balance metrics demonstrated moderate to excellent reliability. CMT1A participants had longer step durations (p < .001), shorter step lengths (p = .03), slower gait speeds (p < .001), and greater postural sway (p < .001) than healthy controls. Moderate correlations were found between CMT-Functional Outcome Measure and step length (r = -0.59; p = .02), and gait speed (r = 0.64; p = .01); 11 out of 15 CMT1A participants demonstrated significant increases in stride duration between the first and last quarter of the 6-min walk test, suggesting fatigue. INTERPRETATION In this initial study, gait and balance metrics derived from wearable sensors were reliable and associated with COAs in individuals with CMT1A. Larger longitudinal studies are needed to confirm our findings and evaluate sensitivity and utility of these disease-specific algorithms for clinical trial use.

Abstract
Ovarian abscesses are usually seen in females of reproductive age group. They may occur secondary to urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory diseases, or gastrointestinal infections. They are uncommon in premenarchal females. They can be either managed conservatively with antibiotics and analgesics or may require surgery. In this case report, we present the case of a 6-year-old female who presented to us with an acute abdomen, which was diagnosed as a case of ovarian abscess and improved on exploration and drainage.
