Abstract
BACKGROUND Hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic commonly used for the treatment of hypertension, is often associated with serious metabolic side effects. Pyrrosia petiolosa (Christ) Ching is a traditional Chinese medicine that possesses diuretic properties, without any obvious side effects. AIM To evaluate the diuretic effect of P. petiolosa (Christ) Ching and to elucidate its underlying mechanism of action. METHODS Extracts obtained from different polar components of P. petiolosa (Christ) Ching were analyzed for toxicity in a Kunming mouse model. The diuretic effects of the extracts were compared to that of hydrochlorothiazide in rats. In addition, compound isolation procedures, cell assays of Na-Cl cotransporter inhibition and rat diuretic test of monomeric compounds were conducted to identify the active ingredients in the extract. Subsequently, homology modeling and molecular docking were performed to explain the reason behind the diuretic activity observed. Finally, LC-MS analysis was used to elucidate the underlying mechanism of action of P. petiolosa (Christ) Ching. RESULTS No toxicity was observed in mice administered P. petiolosa (Christ) Ching extracts. The ethyl acetate fraction showed the most significant diuretic effect. Similar results were obtained during the analysis for Na+ content in rat urine. Further separation of P. petiolosa (Christ) Ching components led to the isolation of methyl chlorogenate, 2',3'-dihydroxy propyl pentadecanoate, and β-carotene. Results from cell assays showed that the Na-Cl cotransporter inhibitory activity of methyl chlorogenate was greater than that of hydrochlorothiazide. This result was again confirmed by the diuresis tests of monomeric compounds in rats. The molecular simulations explain the stronger interactions between the methyl chlorogenate and Na-Cl cotransporter. Of the compounds determined using LC-MS analysis, 185 were identified to be mostly organic acids. CONCLUSIONS P. petiolosa possesses significant diuretic activities without any obvious toxicity, with least two possible mechanisms of action. Further study on this herb is warranted.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Salmonella infection severely threatens human health and causes substantial medical and financial concerns. Sensitive and specific detection of Salmonella in food samples is crucial but remains challenging. While some traditional assays for S. typhimurium are reliable, they suffer from various limitations, such as being time-consuming (culture-based methods), involving intricate nucleic molecular extraction (polymerization chain reaction, PCR), and exhibiting inadequate sensitivity (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, ELISA). In this case, it is essential to establish a rapid, simple-operation, and sensitive method for monitoring S. typhimurium to preserve food quality and prevent contamination. RESULT Herein, an amplification-free detection method for Salmonella was developed by coupling the aptamer magnetic separation with dual-functional HCR (hybridization chain reaction)-scaffold multivalent aptamer and the activity of CRISPR/Cas12a. In the detection system, the dual-functional HCR-scaffold multivalent aptamer with high binding affinity and specificity was fabricated in advance by assembling numerous Salmonella specific aptamers on the long HCR products. In addition to the enhanced affinity, the HCR-multiApt also contains a massive amount of repeated CRISPR-targetable DNA units in its HCR scaffold, which could trigger the trans-cleavage activity of Cas12a. In the presence of target bacteria, the HCR-scaffold multivalent aptamer could attach on the surface of bacteria effectively and amplified the signal of bacteria into CRISPR/Cas12a based fluorescent readout. The proposed detection system allowed for ultrasensitive detection of Salmonella in a linear range from 100 to 107 cfu mL-1 with a LOD (limit of detection) of 2 cfu mL-1. SIGNIFICANCE The novel dual-functional HCR-multiApt presents a simple and powerful strategy for improving the aptamer binding affinity toward Salmonella. Simultaneously, integrating this dual-functional HCR-multiApt with the CRISPR/Cas12a system significantly enhances the sensitivity by cascade signal amplification in a nucleic acids amplification-free way. Finally, leveraging the versatility of the aptamer, this highly sensitive method can be further extended for application in the detection of other bacteria, food safety monitoring, or clinical diagnostics.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Frozen storage often leads to quality deterioration of surimi-based products. At present, most of the research focuses on improving the quality of surimi products by adding cryoprotectants, and there are few studies available on preparation technology. Therefore, the effects of different gelation-freezing treatments, high temperature heating-freezing treatment (HF), low temperature heating-high temperature heating-freezing treatment (LHF) and low temperature heating-freezing-high temperature heating treatment (LFH) on the quality changes of surimi gels containing hydroxypropyl distarch phosphate (HPDSP) during frozen storage were investigated. RESULTS With the extension of frozen storage time, the quality of surimi gel in all groups decreased, but the quality of surimi gel with HPDSP was better than that of surimi gel without HPDSP. Compared with HF and LHF, the change range of breaking force, hardness, gumminess, whiteness and disulfide bond content of HPDSP-surimi gel treated with LFH was the least during the frozen storage. In the reheating process of LFH, HPDSP could absorb the water lost during freezing. Therefore, the change in the transverse relaxation time of HPDSP-surimi gels treated with LFH was smaller, with more immobile water and less free water and P22 of 96.81% and P23 of 0% at 16 weeks. In addition, the breaking deformation, cohesiveness, resilience, springiness and protein composition of surimi gels with and without HPDSP treated with HF, LHF and LFH did not change significantly during frozen storage. CONCLUSION The combination of LFH and HPDSP could effectively reduce the quality change of surimi gel during frozen storage. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Topological transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have attracted much attention due to their potential applications in spintronics and quantum computations. In this work, the structural and electronic properties of topological TMDCs candidate ZrTe2 are systematically investigated under high pressure. A pressure-induced Lifshitz transition is evidenced by the change of charge carrier type as well as the Fermi surface. Superconductivity is observed at around 8.3 GPa without structural phase transition. A typical dome-shape phase diagram is obtained with the maximum Tc of 5.6 K for ZrTe2 . Furthermore, the theoretical calculations suggest the presence of multiple pressure-induced topological quantum phase transitions, which coexists with emergence of superconductivity. The results demonstrate that ZrTe2 with nontrivial topology of electronic states displays new ground states upon compression.

Abstract
Organic-inorganic halide perovskites possess unique electronic configurations and high structural tunability, rendering them promising for photovoltaic and optoelectronic applications. Despite significant progress in optimizing the structural characteristics of the organic cations and inorganic framework, the role of organic-inorganic interactions in determining the structural and optical properties has long been underappreciated and remains unclear. Here, by employing pressure tuning, we realize continuous regulation of organic-inorganic interactions in a lead halide perovskite, MHyPbBr3 (MHy+ = methylhydrazinium, CH3NH2NH2+). Compression enhances the organic-inorganic interactions by strengthening the Pb-N coordinate bonding and N-H···Br hydrogen bonding, which results in a higher structural distortion in the inorganic framework. Consequently, the second-harmonic-generation (SHG) intensity experiences an 18-fold increase at 1.5 GPa, and the order-disorder phase transition temperature of MHyPbBr3 increases from 408 K under ambient pressure to 454 K at the industrially achievable level of 0.5 GPa. Further compression triggers a sudden non-centrosymmetric to centrosymmetric phase transition, accompanied by an anomalous bandgap increase by 0.44 eV, which stands as the largest boost in all known halide perovskites. Our findings shed light on the intricate correlations among organic-inorganic interactions, octahedral distortion, and SHG properties and, more broadly, provide valuable insights into structural design and property optimization through cation engineering of halide perovskites.

Abstract
Salmonella infection has emerged as a global health threat, causing death, disability, and socioeconomic disruption worldwide. The rapid and sensitive detection of Salmonella is of great significance in guaranteeing food safety. Herein, we developed a colorimetric/fluorescent dual-mode method based on a DNA-nanotriangle programmed multivalent aptamer for the sensitive detection of Salmonella. In this system, aptamers are precisely controlled and assembled on a DNA nanotriangle structure to fabricate a multivalent aptamer (NTri-Multi-Apt) with enhanced binding affinity and specificity toward Salmonella. The NTri-Multi-Apt was designed to carry many streptavidin-HRPs for colorimetric read-outs and a large load of Sybr green I in the dsDNA scaffold for the output of a fluorescent signal. Therefore, combined with the magnetic separation of aptamers and the prefabricated NTri-Multi-Apt, the dual-mode approach achieved simple and sensitive detection, with LODs of 316 and 60 CFU/mL for colorimetric and fluorescent detection, respectively. Notably, the fluorescent mode provided a self-calibrated and fivefold-improved sensitivity over colorimetric detection. Systematic results also revealed that the proposed dual-mode method exhibited high specificity and applicability for milk, egg white, and chicken meat samples, serving as a promising tool for real bacterial sample testing. As a result, the innovative dual-mode detection method showed new insights for the detection of other pathogens.

Abstract
The structures, strain fields, and defect distributions in solid materials underlie the mechanical and physical properties across numerous applications. Many modern microstructural microscopy tools characterize crystal grains, domains and defects required to map lattice distortions or deformation, but are limited to studies of the (near) surface. Generally speaking, such tools cannot probe the structural dynamics in a way that is representative of bulk behavior. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction based imaging has long mapped the deeply embedded structural elements, and with enhanced resolution, dark field X-ray microscopy (DFXM) can now map those features with the requisite nm-resolution. However, these techniques still suffer from the required integration times due to limitations from the source and optics. This work extends DFXM to X-ray free electron lasers, showing how the [Formula: see text] photons per pulse available at these sources offer structural characterization down to 100 fs resolution (orders of magnitude faster than current synchrotron images). We introduce the XFEL DFXM setup with simultaneous bright field microscopy to probe density changes within the same volume. This work presents a comprehensive guide to the multi-modal ultrafast high-resolution X-ray microscope that we constructed and tested at two XFELs, and shows initial data demonstrating two timing strategies to study associated reversible or irreversible lattice dynamics.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To evaluate the efficacy and safety of concomitant chemoradiotherapy with nab-paclitaxel and cisplatin in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). MATERIALS/METHODS This study (NCT04284215) is a prospective, phase II, randomized controlled study, and the patients are enrolled in a ratio of 1:1 in the study with patients treat-naïve locally advanced stage III non-small cell lung cancer.in comparison with paclitaxel plus cisplatin, the regimen of nab-paclitaxel plus cisplatin was use in the treatment of DT:69 Gy/46f.Nab-paclitaxel 40mg/m2/week (4-6 weeks in total) and cisplatin 75mg/m2 for 2 cycles. CONTROL ARM paclitaxel 175mg/m2 d1, cisplatin 75mg/m2 for 2 cycles. The primary endpoints are ORR and treatment-induced toxicity of concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and the secondary endpoints are PFS and OS. RESULTS A total of 68 patients (1:1) were randomized from March 3, 2019 to August 23, 2021.Sixty-five patients received concomitant chemoradiotherapy according to the study protocol, including 32 patients in the nab-paclitaxel group and 33 patients in the paclitaxel group. There was no significant difference in ORR between the two groups (84.4% vs. 73.7%, p = 0.411).There was no difference in median PFS between the two groups (14 months (95% CI 14.60-22.93) vs. 12 months (95% CI 13.15-22.74), P = 0.521).The incidence of grade III-IV leukopenia and neutropenia, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and other toxic and adverse reactions in the nab-paclitaxel group were significantly lower than those in the paclitaxel group (P<0.006, P<0.000, 0.016, 0.021, 0.019) CONCLUSION: Compared with paclitaxel plus cisplatin regimen, the combination of nab-paclitaxel plus cisplatin regimen has no significant difference in ORR and PFS, but significantly reduces the incidence of grade III-IV granulocytopenia and gastrointestinal reactions.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) MR-guided linear accelerators have been commercialized making MR-only planning and adaptation an appealing alternative circumventing MR-CT registration. However, obtaining daily contrast-enhanced MR images can be prohibitive due to the increased risk of side effects from repeated contrast injections. In this work, we evaluate the quality of contrast-enhanced multi-modal MR image synthesis network GRMM-GAN (gradient regularized multi-modal multi-discrimination sparse-attention fusion generative adversarial network) for MR-guided radiation therapy. MATERIALS/METHODS With IRB approval, we trained the GRMM-GAN based on 165 abdominal MR studies from 65 patients. Each study included T2, T1 pre-contrast (T1pre), and T1 contrast enhanced (T1ce) images. The two pre-contrast MR modalities, T2 and T1pre images were adopted as inputs for GRMM-GAN, and the T1ce image at the portal venous phase was used as an output. Ten MR scans containing 21 liver tumors were selected for contouring analysis. A Turing test was first given to six radiation oncologists, in which 100 real T1ce and synthetic T1ce image slices are randomly given to the radiation oncologists to determine the authenticity of the synthesis. We then invited two radiation oncologists (RadOnc 1 and RadOnc2) to manually contour the 21 liver tumors independently on the real T1ce images. RadOnc2 then performed contouring on the respective synthetic T1ce MRs. DICE coefficient (defined as the intersection over the average of two volumes) and Hausdorff distance (HD, measuring how far two volumes are from each other) were used as analysis metrics. The DICE coefficients were calculated from the two radiation oncologists' contours on the real T1ce MR for each tumor. The DICE coefficients were also calculated from RadOnc 2's contours on real and synthetic MRs. Besides, tumor center shifts were extracted. The tumor center of mass coordinates was extracted from real and synthetic volumes. The difference in the coordinates indicated the shifts in the superior-inferior (SI), right-left (RL), and anterior-posterior (AP) directions between real and synthetic tumor volumes. RESULTS An average of 52.3% test score was achieved from the six radiation oncologists, which is close to random guessing. RadOnc 1 and RadOnc 2, who had participated in the contouring analysis, achieved an average DICE of 0.91±0.02 from tumor volumes drawn on the real T1ce MRs. This result sets the inter-operator uncertainty baseline in the real clinical setting. RadOnc 2 achieved an average DICE (real vs. synth) of 0.90±0.04 and HD of 4.76±1.82 mm. Only sub-millimeter (SI: 0.67 mm, RL: 0.41 mm, AP: 0.39 mm) tumor center shifts were observed in all three directions. CONCLUSION The GRMM-GAN method has the potential for MR-guided liver radiation when contrast agents cannot be administered daily and provide synthetic contrast-enhanced MR for better tumor targeting. The network can produce synthetic MR images with satisfactory contour agreement and geometric integrity.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze and compare therapy responses, outcomes, and incidence of severe hematologic adverse events of flumatinib and imatinib in patients newly diagnosed with chronic phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) . Methods: Data of patients with chronic phase CML diagnosed between January 2006 and November 2022 from 76 centers, aged ≥18 years, and received initial flumatinib or imatinib therapy within 6 months after diagnosis in China were retrospectively interrogated. Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed to reduce the bias of the initial TKI selection, and the therapy responses and outcomes of patients receiving initial flumatinib or imatinib therapy were compared. Results: A total of 4 833 adult patients with CML receiving initial imatinib (n=4 380) or flumatinib (n=453) therapy were included in the study. In the imatinib cohort, the median follow-up time was 54 [interquartile range (IQR), 31-85] months, and the 7-year cumulative incidences of CCyR, MMR, MR(4), and MR(4.5) were 95.2%, 88.4%, 78.3%, and 63.0%, respectively. The 7-year FFS, PFS, and OS rates were 71.8%, 93.0%, and 96.9%, respectively. With the median follow-up of 18 (IQR, 13-25) months in the flumatinib cohort, the 2-year cumulative incidences of CCyR, MMR, MR(4), and MR(4.5) were 95.4%, 86.5%, 58.4%, and 46.6%, respectively. The 2-year FFS, PFS, and OS rates were 80.1%, 95.0%, and 99.5%, respectively. The PSM analysis indicated that patients receiving initial flumatinib therapy had significantly higher cumulative incidences of CCyR, MMR, MR(4), and MR(4.5) and higher probabilities of FFS than those receiving the initial imatinib therapy (all P<0.001), whereas the PFS (P=0.230) and OS (P=0.268) were comparable between the two cohorts. The incidence of severe hematologic adverse events (grade≥Ⅲ) was comparable in the two cohorts. Conclusion: Patients receiving initial flumatinib therapy had higher cumulative incidences of therapy responses and higher probability of FFS than those receiving initial imatinib therapy, whereas the incidence of severe hematologic adverse events was comparable between the two cohorts.

Abstract
Low-dimensional (low-D) organic metal halide hybrids (OMHHs) have emerged as fascinating candidates for optoelectronics due to their integrated properties from both organic and inorganic components. However, for most of low-D OMHHs, especially the zero-D (0D) compounds, the inferior electronic coupling between organic ligands and inorganic metal halides prevents efficient charge transfer at the hybrid interfaces and thus limits their further tunability of optical and electronic properties. Here, using pressure to regulate the interfacial interactions, efficient charge transfer from organic ligands to metal halides is achieved, which leads to a near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) at around 6.0 GPa in a 0D OMHH, [(C6 H5 )4 P]2 SbCl5 . In situ experimental characterizations and theoretical simulations reveal that the pressure-induced electronic coupling between the lone-pair electrons of Sb3+ and the π electrons of benzene ring (lp-π interaction) serves as an unexpected "bridge" for the charge transfer. Our work opens a versatile strategy for the new materials design by manipulating the lp-π interactions in organic-inorganic hybrid systems.

Abstract
Understanding the interplay between the inherent disorder and the correlated fluctuating-spin ground state is a key element in the search for quantum spin liquids. H3LiIr2O6 is considered to be a spin liquid that is proximate to the Kitaev-limit quantum spin liquid. Its ground state shows no magnetic order or spin freezing as expected for the spin liquid state. However, hydrogen zero-point motion and stacking faults are known to be present. The resulting bond disorder has been invoked to explain the existence of unexpected low-energy spin excitations, although data interpretation remains challenging. Here, we use resonant X-ray spectroscopies to map the collective excitations in H3LiIr2O6 and characterize its magnetic state. In the low-temperature correlated state, we reveal a broad bandwidth of magnetic excitations. The central energy and the high-energy tail of the continuum are consistent with expectations for dominant ferromagnetic Kitaev interactions between dynamically fluctuating spins. Furthermore, the absence of a momentum dependence to these excitations are consistent with disorder-induced broken translational invariance. Our low-energy data and the energy and width of the crystal field excitations support an interpretation of H3LiIr2O6 as a disordered topological spin liquid in close proximity to bond-disordered versions of the Kitaev quantum spin liquid.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sasanlimab is an antibody to the programmed cell death protein 1 receptor. We report updated data of subcutaneous sasanlimab in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and urothelial carcinoma dose expansion cohorts from a first-in-human phase Ib/II study. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients were ≥18 years of age with NSCLC or urothelial carcinoma, and no prior immunotherapies, who progressed on or were intolerant to systemic therapy, or for whom systemic therapy was refused or unavailable. Patients received subcutaneous sasanlimab at 300 mg every 4 weeks (q4w). Primary objectives were to evaluate safety, tolerability, and clinical efficacy by objective response rate (ORR). RESULTS Sixty-eight and 38 patients with NSCLC and urothelial carcinoma, respectively, received subcutaneous sasanlimab. Overall, sasanlimab was well tolerated; 13.2% of patients experienced grade ≥3 treatment-related adverse events. Confirmed ORR was 16.4% and 18.4% in the NSCLC and urothelial carcinoma cohorts, respectively. ORR was generally higher in patients with high programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression (≥25%) and high tumor mutational burden (TMB; >75%). In the NSCLC and urothelial carcinoma cohorts, median progression-free survival (PFS) was 3.7 and 2.9 months, respectively; corresponding median overall survival (OS) was 14.7 and 10.9 months. Overall, longer median PFS and OS correlated with high PD-L1 expression and high TMB. Longer median PFS and OS were also associated with T-cell inflamed gene signature in the urothelial carcinoma cohort. CONCLUSIONS Subcutaneous sasanlimab at 300 mg q4w was well tolerated with promising clinical efficacy observed. Phase II and III clinical trials of sasanlimab are ongoing to validate clinical benefit. Subcutaneous sasanlimab may be a potential treatment option for patients with NSCLC or urothelial carcinoma.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to compare the investigations of various contents of egg white protein (2.0%-8.0%, EWP), microbial transglutaminase (0.1%-0.4%, MTGase), and konjac glucomannan (0.5%-2.0%, KGM) on the gelling properties and rheological behavior of Trachypenaeus Curvirostris shrimp surimi gel (SSG), and assessed the modification mechanisms through the analysis of structure characteristics. The findings suggested that all modified SSG samples (expect SSG-KGM2.0% ) had the higher gelling properties and the denser network structure than those of unmodified SSG. Meanwhile, EWP could give SSG a better appearance than MTGase and KGM. Rheological results showed that SSG-EWP6% and SSG-KGM1.0% had the highest G' and G″, demonstrating that the formation of higher levels of elasticity and hardness. All modifications could increase gelation rates of SSG along with the reduction of G″ during the degeneration of protein. According to the FTIR results, three modification methods changed SSG protein conformation with the increasing α-helix and β-sheet contents and the decreasing of random coil content. LF-NMR results indicated that more free water could be transformed into immobilized water in the modified SSG gels, which contributed to improve the gelling properties. Furthermore, molecular forces showed that EWP and KGM could further increase the hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interaction in SSG gels, while MTGase could induce the formation of more disulfide bonds. Thus, compared with another two modifications, EWP modified SSG gels showed the highest gelling properties.

Abstract
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a serious threat to the health of humans around the world. Tegillarca granosa (T. granosa) is considered as an excellent source of iron due to its abundant iron-binding protein hemoglobin. This study aimed to investigate the effects of hemoglobin from T. granosa on the gut microbiota and iron bioavailability in IDA mice. Compared to normal mice, IDA mice showed reduced microbiota diversity and altered relative abundance (reduced Muribaculaceae and increased Bacteroides). After 4 weeks of administration, hemoglobin restored the dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiota induced by IDA and decreased the Firmicutes/Bacteroidota ratio and the abundance of Proteobacteria. Analysis of the hemoglobin regeneration efficiency of mice treated with hemoglobin confirmed that hemoglobin exhibited high iron bioavailability, particularly at low-dose administration, suggesting that a small amount of hemoglobin from T. granosa markedly elevated the blood hemoglobin level in mice. These findings suggested that IDA could be alleviated by administration of hemoglobin with excellent iron bioavailability, and its therapeutic mechanism may be partially attributed to the regulation of the intestinal microbiota composition and relative abundance. These results indicated that T. granosa hemoglobin may be a promising iron supplement to treat IDA and promote the utilization of aquatic-derived proteins.

Abstract
The intention of this study is to investigate the distribution of physical fitness of the geographical students. The indicators among freshmen at a Chinese geological university and compare their fitness levels with students from other types of institutions. The research revealed that students at higher latitudes exhibited greater physical strength but were less athletic than those at lower latitudes. Spatial dependence on physical fitness was more pronounced in males than in females, particularly for indicators characterizing athletic capacity. Influencing factors such as PM10, air temperature, rainfall, eggs consumption, grain consumption, and GDP which were identified as the major climate, dietary structure, and economic level were examined. Revised:PM10, air temperature and eggs consumption, factors influencing the spatial distribution of male physical fitness across the country. Rainfall, grains consumption and GDP, factors influencing the spatial distribution of female physical fitness across the country. respectively. These factors were found to affect males (42.43%) more than females (25.33%). These findings highlight the significance of regional differences in students' physical fitness levels, with students in geological universities demonstrating better overall physical fitness compared to their counterparts at other schools. Consequently, it is essential to develop tailored physical education strategies for students in various regions, taking into account local economic, climatic, and dietary factors. This study offers a greater explanation of physical fitness disparities between the Chinese university students as well as provides insights for designing effective physical education programs.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study assessed the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and clustering of high-risk behaviors in a sample of high school students. STUDY DESIGN This was a cross-sectional study. METHODS A sample of students who attended randomly selected classes in 99 high schools completed the 2019 Nevada Youth Risk Behavior Survey (N = 4959). The survey included six ACE measures: (1) physical abuse, (2) sexual abuse, (3) verbal abuse, (4) household physical abuse, (5) household mental illness, and (6) household substance abuse. Students were assigned a cumulative ACE score (range = 0-6). A count of high-risk behavior domains was created using multiple questions across the following domains: (1) violence behaviors, (2) suicidal indicators, (3) non-suicidal self-injury, (4) substance use, (5) high-risk sexual behaviors, (6) poor diet, (7) physical inactivity, and (8) high screen time (range = 0-8). The relationship between ACEs and the count of high-risk behavior domains was assessed using weighted negative binomial regression; incidence rate ratios (IRRs) were calculated adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics. RESULTS More than 40% of the sampled students reported high-risk behaviors across two or more domains. There was a strong, graded relationship between cumulative ACE score and the count of high-risk behavior domains. Compared with students who experienced zero ACEs, there was an increase in the count of high-risk behavior domains among students who experienced one ACE (adjusted IRR [aIRR] = 1.22, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.12-1.33), two ACEs (aIRR = 1.57, 95% CI = 1.42-1.73), three ACEs (aIRR = 1.73, 95% CI = 1.54-1.94), four ACEs (aIRR = 2.07, 95% CI = 1.84-2.33), five ACEs (aIRR = 2.69, 95% CI = 2.34-3.10), and six ACEs (aIRR = 2.91, 95% CI = 2.34-3.62). CONCLUSION Trauma-informed prevention efforts may be an efficient way to address multiple adolescent risk behaviors that cluster.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are linked to negative pregnancy outcomes. However, little is known about the prevalence of ACEs and their relationship to mental and health outcomes among pregnant Palestine refugee women. STUDY DESIGN This was a cross-sectional study. METHODS Data were collected from 772 pregnant Palestine refugee women with a median (interquartile range) age of 27 (23, 32) years, attending five antenatal clinics in Jordan between February and June 2021. The modified 33-item ACE International Questionnaire was used to assess eight domains of ACEs: (1) marriage and family, (2) relationship with parents, (3) neglect, (4) household dysfunction/domestic violence, (5) abuse, (6) peer violence, (7) community violence, and (8) collective violence. Multivariate logistic regression was used to examine the association between ACEs and mental and health outcomes. The ethical approval was obtained from United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Research Review Board in May 2020. RESULTS Eighty-eight percent of women experienced at least one type of ACE, and 26% of women experienced ≥4 types of ACEs. Compared with women with 0-3 types of ACE exposure, those with ≥4 types of ACEs had 1.58 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.10-2.28) times higher prevalence of obesity before pregnancy, 3.28 (95% CI 1.79-6.03) times higher prevalence of depression during pregnancy, and 2.01 (95% CI 1.39-2.91) times higher prevalence of ever been smoking cigarettes or hookah. CONCLUSIONS Exposure to ACEs is prevalent among pregnant Palestine refugee women. Exposure to multiple types of ACEs was associated with obesity, mental health conditions, and smoking.

Abstract
Mechanoluminescence (ML) has received widespread attention because of potential application in stress sensors and imaging. However, pursuing highly efficient ML remains a challenge due to multifactorial limitations such as pressure and loading rate. Here, we systematically investigate pressure- and rate-dependent ML in Mn2+ and Eu3+ co-doped ZnS in a gigapascal pressure range by using a high-pressure dynamic diamond anvil cell and microsecond time-resolved fluorescent methods and demonstrate the giant tunability in both ML efficiency and wavelength. Compressed from ambient pressure to 11 GPa at different compression rates, ZnS: Mn2+, Eu3+ exhibits a volcano shape in ML emission efficiency with an optimum at ∼3.5 GPa and ∼211.1 GPa/s, at least 1000-fold higher than that measured in the MPa range. The pressure-dependent ML is accompanied with a tunable yellow-to-red emission color change. A combination of high-pressure X-ray diffraction and photoluminescence measurements reveals that the pressure- and rate-dependent ML behavior derives from pressure-induced strengthening of the crystal piezoelectric field and enhanced interaction between the host lattice and doped ions with a significant change of the energy level of the Mn ion. Significantly, the highly efficient ML of ZnS: Mn2+, Eu3+ at the GPa level is reproducible under a compression-decompression process and can be manipulated on a micron scale, implying great potential in mechanical-optical energy conversion and application in dynamic pressure imaging, stress sensors, and multicolor displays.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and explore the value of MRI in the diagnosis of central nervous system leukaemia (CNSL). MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective study was performed in 68 patients with leukaemia who underwent cranial MRI between January 2020 and June 2022 at Institute of Hematology and Blood Diseases Hospital. RESULTS A total of 33 patients fulfilled the requirements for inclusion. The findings showed that 87.9% patients exhibited neurological symptoms, and 23 patients showed abnormal MRI findings. No differences were observed between the MRI+ and MRI- groups in terms of age, sex, neurological symptoms, glucose in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), chloride in the CSF, abnormal cells detected using conventional cytology (CC), bone marrow status at the diagnosis of CNSL, signal intensity ratio, and mortality, except for protein concentration and the number of leukaemic cells detected using flow cytometry (FCM) in the CSF. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis in patients with leukaemia revealed no statistical differences in the median survival times between the MRI+ group and MRI- group. Cox regression analysis and multivariate analysis showed no significant difference in survival rate between the MRI+ and MRI- groups. Kappa consistency test shows weak diagnostic consistency between MRI and CC, and weak diagnostic inconsistency between MRI and FCM. CONCLUSION MRI could serve as an important complementary tool to CC and FCM in the diagnosis of CNSL, especially in patients without leptomeningeal involvement.

Abstract
Good oral health is essential for healthy aging. Regular dental care utilization is instrumental to good oral health. Older immigrants tend to experience poorer oral health and less dental care use as compared with their native-born counterparts in the host country. Older immigrants are particularly vulnerable to interrupted or lost social ties and acculturation challenges after immigration to a new country. This study examined whether and to what extent social relations, acculturation, and perceived oral health needs are associated with dental care utilization in foreign-born older Chinese Americans. Data came from the Population Study of Chinese Elderly in Chicago, which were collected between 2017 and 2019 (N = 3,000). Dental care utilization was dichotomized into "yes" versus "no" in the past 2 y. Social relations were measured by positive and negative relations with spouse, family, and friends. Acculturation was measured by length of stay, behavioral acculturation, and residence in Chinatown. Perceived oral health needs were measured by the presence of problems related to teeth, gums, or bleeding. As guided by the Andersen model, separate logistic regression models were used to investigate factors of dental care utilization. An overall 23.1% reported dental care utilization. Individuals with no negative relations with spouse, family, and friends were 31%, 36%, and 38% less likely to visit a dentist, respectively. Individuals with higher levels of behavioral acculturation were 4% more likely to visit a dentist; individuals living in Chinatown were 45% less likely; and individuals with perceived oral health needs were 2.5 times more likely. Findings illustrate the importance of understanding social relations, immigration-related factors, and perceived oral health needs in dental care utilization in older immigrants.

Abstract
In this study, a NIR fluorescent probe based on ICT principles was developed for the detection of phenylthiophenol. An excellent fluorescent mother nucleus is constructed with tricyano groups, and benzenesulfonate was introduced as a specific recognition site for thiophene, which can be used for rapid detection of thiophenol. The probe has a significant Stokes shift (220 nm). Meanwhile, it had rapid response to thiophene and high specificity. The fluorescence intensity of the probe at 700 nm showed a good linear relationship with thiophene concentration in the range of 0 to 100 μM, and the detection limit was as low as 45 nM. The probe had also been successfully applied to the detection of thiophene in real water samples. MTT assay showed low cytotoxicity and excellent fluorescence imaging in live cells.

Abstract
Chinese herbal medicine is receiving more and more attention at home and abroad as a traditional Chinese clinical medicine. To make herbal medicines can be preserved for a long time, they are usually fumigated with sulfur. However, after the medicinal materials have been fumigated with sulfur, SO2 residues will remain, which, when exposed to water, will create sulfites and bisulfites. Excessive sulfites can cause a variety of severe ailments and diminish the quality and effectiveness of therapeutic plants. Therefore, developing an effective SO32-/HSO3- detection method is important. This study chose coumarin derivatives as fluorescent acceptors and pyridinium acrylonitrile structures as fluorescent donors to create a ratiometric fluorescent probe CPA using the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect. The probe CPA exhibited a fluorescence transition from red to green under excitation at 405 nm with an interval of 149 nm, a reaction time of less than 1 min, a low detection limit of 86 nM, and the probe CPA has good specific recognition of SO32- and is resistant to interference. In addition, CPA has low in vitro cytotoxicity and can successfully detect endogenous sulfites in living cells.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the driving gene of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) occurrence and progression and its potential as new therapeutic target of HCC. METHODS The transcriptome and genomic data of 858 HCC tissues and 493 adjacent tissues were obtained from TCGA, GEO, and ICGC databases. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) identified EHHADH (encoding enoyl-CoA hydratase/L-3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase) as the hub gene in the significantly enriched differential pathways in HCC. The downregulation of EHHADH expression at the transcriptome level was found to correlate with TP53 mutation based on analysis of the TCGA- HCC dataset, and the mechanism by which TP53 mutation caused EHHADH downregulation was explored through correlation analysis. Analysis of the data from the Metascape database suggested that EHHADH was strongly correlated with the ferroptosis signaling pathway in HCC progression, and to verify this result, immunohistochemical staining was used to examine EHHADH expression in 30 HCC tissues and paired adjacent tissues. RESULTS All the 3 HCC datasets showed signficnatly lowered EHHADH expression in HCC tissues as compared with the adjacent tissues (P < 0.05) with a close correlation with the degree of hepatocyte de-differentiation (P < 0.01). The somatic landscape of HCC cohort in TCGA dataset showed that HCC patients had the highest genomic TP53 mutation rate. The transcriptomic level of PPARGC1A, the upstream gene of EHHADH, was significantly downregulated in HCC patients with TP53 mutation as compared with those without the mutation (P < 0.05), and was significantly correlated with EHHADH expression level. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses showed that EHHADH expression was significantly correlated with abnormal fatty acid metabolism in HCC. The immunohistochemical results showd that the expression level of EHHADH in HCC tissues was down-regulated, and its expression level was related to the degree of hepatocytes de-differentiation and the process of ferroptosis. CONCLUSION TP53 mutations may induce abnormal expression of PPARGC1A to cause downregulation of EHHADH expression in HCC. The low expression of EHHADH is closely associated with aggravation of de-differentiation and ferroptosis escape in HCC tissues, suggesting the potential of EHHADH as a therapeutic target for HCC.

Abstract
Graphite is one of the major anode materials for commercial lithium-ion batteries. Li+ transport in a single graphite granule along intra and interlayer modes is a crucial factor for the battery performance. However, direct evidence and visualized details of the Li+ transports are hardly provided. Here, we report the direct observation of the anisotropic transport behavior of Li+ and investigate the electro-chemo-structure evolution during the lithiation of graphite through both the intra and interlayer pathways via in situ transmission electron microscopy. The in situ experiments of nano batteries give two extreme conditions, in which thermal runaway induced by polarization only occurs along the interlayer, not along the intralayer. The high diffusion energy barrier induced large polarization when the interlayer Li+ transport became dominant. The energy of the polarization electric field would be instantaneously released like a short electric pulse, which generated a substantial amount of joule heat and created an extremely high temperature, causing the melting of the tungsten tip. We provide another possible fundamental mechanism of thermal failure in graphite-based Li-ion batteries and hope this insightful work would help the safety management of graphite-based lithium-ion batteries.
