Abstract
Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is prone to metastasis that typically resulted in peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). GC patients with PC have an extremely poor clinic prognosis. Although GC is sensitive to chemotherapy, PC causes chemotherapy failure. Recent studies showed the combination of intravenous and intraperitoneal chemotherapy can significantly improve the survival rates in GC patients with PC. Aim: To identify the clinical and adverse effects of intravenous chemotherapy combined with intraperitoneal perfusion chemotherapy in the treatment of abdominal peritoneal carcinomatosis arising from gastric cancer. Methods: Retrospective analysis was performed on 49 patients with abdominal peritoneal carcinomatosis from gastric cancer who were treated at the Fujian Medical University Union Hospital between September 2010 and September 2015. The patients were divided into 2 groups based on treatment method: patients subjected to intravenous chemotherapy (n = 27), referred to as the simple group and patients subjected to combined intravenous and intraperitoneal chemotherapy (n = 22), referred to as the combination group. The short-term effects and adverse effects were evaluated based on treatment method, in conjunction with a related review of the results. The long-term effect was evaluated based on the survival rate and median survival time of both groups of patients at 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, and 60 months, as determined through follow-up. Results: Gender, age, ECOG scores before treatment, clinical stages, and the pathologic data of advanced GC patients of the 2 groups were equally distributed. The objective efficacy evaluation results showed that the objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) of the simple group after treatment were significantly lower than in the combination group. The median survival time (MST) of the simple group was (6.57 ± 0.75) months, which was significantly shorter than in the combination group (15.03 ± 2.31) months ( P < 0.05). In addition, the 12-, 18-, 24-, 30-, 36-, and 60-month survival rates of the simple group were all significantly lower than those of the combination group. Furthermore, combined therapy improved the physical condition of the patients. The incidence of adverse reactions in the 2 groups was not statistically significant; neither of the treatments resulted in severe complications. Conclusion: Compared with intravenous chemotherapy alone, the combined intravenous and intraperitoneal perfusion chemotherapy was more effective in improving quality of life and extending survival in time patients with abdominal peritoneal carcinomatosis from gastric cancer. In addition, the treatment produced only mild adverse effects, showing that it is tolerable and therefore worth further clinical study.

Abstract
Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have achieved great success in deciphering the genetic cause of congenital heart disease (CHD). However, the heritability of CHD remains to be clarified, and numerous genetic factors responsible for occurrence of CHD are yet unclear. In this study, we performed a genome-wide search for relaxed forms of compound heterozygosity (CH) in association with CHD using our existing GWAS data including 2265 individuals (957 CHD cases and 1308 controls). CollapsABEL was used to iteratively test the association between the CH genotype and the CHD phenotype in a sliding window manner. We highlighted 17 genetic loci showing suggestive CH-like associations with CHD (P < 5 × 10-8 ), among which 4 genetic loci had expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) effects in blood (PeQTL < 0.01). After conditional association analysis, each loci had only 1 independently effective signal reaching the significance threshold (rs2071477/rs3129299 at 6p21.32, P = 2.47 × 10-10 ; rs10773097/rs2880921 at 12q24.31, P = 3.30 × 10-8 ; rs73032040/rs7259476 at 19q13.11, P = 1.14 × 10-8 ; rs10416386/rs4239517 at 19q13.31, P = 1.15 × 10-9 ), together explained 7.83% of the CHD variance. Among these 4 associated loci, outstanding candidates for CHD-associated genes included UBC, CFM2, ZNF302, LYPD3 and CADM4. Although replication studies with larger sample size are warranted, the first CH GWAS of CHD may extend our current knowledge of the genetic contributions to CHD in the Han Chinese population.

Abstract
Recent studies suggested that bleaching agents may whiten teeth by oxidizing the fluorescent materials, which are the proteins located in the organic-inorganic interface. Therefore, we postulated that fluorescence of dentin came from dentin phosphoprotein (DPP) and that bleaching agents might bleach dentin by oxidizing DPP. Fifty-six specimens were randomly divided into 4 groups and exposed to distilled water, hydrogen peroxide (HP), ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid disodium salt (EDTA), and acetic acid for 24 h. After measuring the organic and inorganic components, fluorescence, and color characteristics of dentin before and after exposure, we found that when DPP was removed from dentin by EDTA, fluorescent intensity declined proportionally with the reduction in Raman relative intensity, and dentin was whitened considerably, with an Δ E value 6 times higher than that of the distilled water group. On the contrary, due to the incapability of acetic acid to dissolve DPP during decalcification, fluorescent intensity values and tooth color remained nearly unchanged after exposure to acetic acid. Dentin exposed to neutral HP showed no obvious morphologic and organic/inorganic component changes except for the destruction of DPP. Similarly, dramatically decreased fluorescent intensity and lightened color were found in the HP group. Moreover, DPP solution of the HP group exhibited decreased ultraviolet absorbance, especially between 250 and 300 nm, which arose from aromatic amino acids. The results indicated that DPP was responsible for the fluorescent properties of dentin and that HP might bleach dentin by the oxidization of aromatic amino acids in DPP. These findings are of great significance in promoting our further understanding of the mechanism of tooth bleaching and the fluorescent property of normal dentin.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical characteristics and preoperative predictive factors in patients with parathyroid carcinoma. Methods: From January 2010 to December 2016, 150 patients with pathologically and biochemically confirmed primary hyperparathyroidism were enrolled in this study. The clinical data were reviewed to define 28 cases of parathyroid hyperplasia, 14 cases of parathyroid carcinoma (PC), and 108 cases of parathyroid adenoma (PA). The clinical characteristics between PC and PA group were compared and analyzed to explore predictive factors for PC. Results: Patients in PC group were significantly younger than those in PA group (47.9±13.9 vs 57.2±14.6 years, P=0.026). The diameter of tumor in PC group was larger than that in PA group (3.6±1.8 vs 2.2±1.4 cm, P=0.005). The levels of albumin-corrected serum calcium, parathyroid hormone (PTH), and alkaline phosphatase (AKP) were all higher in PC group than those in PA group (3.4±0.6 vs 2.9±0.3 mmol/l; 1 157.1 vs 201.6 pg/ml; 168 vs 97 IU/L; all P<0.05). PC correlated with age(r=-0.241, P=0.007), albumin-corrected serum calcium (r=0.324, P<0.001), PTH levels (r=0.301, P=0.001), serum AKP (r=0.217, P=0.019) and tumor size(r=0.238, P=0.011). Receiver operator characteristic curve analysis showed that the optimum cut-off values as follows: albumin-corrected serum calcium 3.15 mmol/L, serum PTH concentration 1 011 pg/ml and tumor diameter 3.35 cm. These indicators can be helpful in the preoperative diagnosis of PC. Conclusions: Patients with PC were younger than the patients with PA. Albumin-corrected serum calcium, serum PTH concentration, and tumor diameter can be helpful in preoperative diagnosis of PC.

Abstract
Background We performed whole-exome sequencing of pretreatment biopsies and examined whether genome-wide metrics of overall mutational load, clonal heterogeneity or alterations at variant, gene, and pathway levels are associated with treatment response and survival. Patients and Methods Two hundred and three biopsies from the NeoALTTO trial were analyzed. Mutations were called with MuTect, and Strelka, using pooled normal DNA. Associations between DNA alterations and outcome were evaluated by logistic and Cox-proportional hazards regression. Results There were no recurrent single gene mutations significantly associated with pathologic complete response (pCR), except PIK3CA [odds ratio (OR) = 0.42, P = 0.0185]. Mutations in 33 of 714 pathways were significantly associated with response, but different genes were affected in different individuals. PIK3CA was present in 23 of these pathways defining a ‘trastuzumab resistance-network’ of 459 genes. Cases with mutations in this network had low pCR rates to trastuzumab (2/50, 4%) compared with cases with no mutations (9/16, 56%), OR = 0.035; P < 0.001. Mutations in the ‘Regulation of RhoA activity’ pathway were associated with higher pCR rate to lapatinib (OR = 14.8, adjusted P = 0.001), lapatinib + trastuzumab (OR = 3.0, adjusted P = 0.09), and all arms combined (OR = 3.77, adjusted P = 0.02). Patients (n = 124) with mutations in the trastuzumab resistance network but intact RhoA pathway had 2% (1/41) pCR rate with trastuzumab alone (OR = 0.026, P = 0.001) but adding lapatinib increased pCR rate to 45% (17/38, OR = 1.68, P = 0.3). Patients (n = 46) who had no mutations in either gene set had 6% pCR rate (1/15) with lapatinib, but had the highest pCR rate, 52% (8/15) with trastuzumab alone. Conclusions Mutations in the RhoA pathway are associated with pCR to lapatinib and mutations in a PIK3CA-related network are associated with resistance to trastuzumab. The combined mutation status of these two pathways could define patients with very low response rate to trastuzumab alone that can be augmented by adding lapatinib or substituting trastuzumab with lapatinib.

Abstract
Objective: To explore a standard procedure for the treatment of combined dorsal and palmar internal fixation for complex four part distal radius fractures and assess its clinical results. Methods: From May 2009 to October 2016, 38 patients(39 sides)who suffered from complex four part distal radius fractures were performed operatively with open reduction and internal fixation via combined dorsal and palmar approach in Department of Orthopaedic Trauma, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University(Qingdao). The series included 22 males(22 sides) and 16 females(17 sides). Age of the patients was 53.5 years ranging from 25 to 79 years.According to Melone classification, there were 34 sides of type of Ⅳ, 5 of type Ⅴ.According to Frykman classification, there were 15 sides of type Ⅶ, 24 sides of type Ⅷ, and all the cases were type C3 according to AO/OTA classification.Preoperatively, the key articular fragments in four part distal radius fractures were identified and the individual fracture patterns from conventional X-ray and CT-scan were analyzed. All the patients were performed combined volar and dorsal fixation.Firstly, a palmar approach which gave access to and fix the palmar-ulnar fragment and the radial styloid fragment was performed.Then a limited dorsal approach across the third extensor compartment which gave access to the dorso-ulnar fragment and a limited dorsal arthrotomy to visualize the radiocarpal joint when necessary were performed.Through dorsal approach, we can address the dorso-ulnar fragment, free intra-articular fragment and direct visualize the joint.Use of a retinacular flap was routinely advocated to help prevent against tendon irritation and rupture.The follow-up control included conventional X-ray, range of motion(ROM), grip strength, and the disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand index(DASH), as well as the patient-rated wrist evaluation(PRWE) score for functional outcome at 6 and 12 months. Results: Thirty-three patients(34 sides) were followed up for at least 12 months.The would healed well in all cases 2 weeks postoperatively, and no soft tissue infections, necrosis or neurovascular complications occurred.All the fractures of 38 cases(39 sides)healed averaged 3.6 months(ranging from 2.5-5.7 months), and no loss of reduction occurred postoperatively.Anatomic reconstruction with a step or gap of <1 mm was achieved in 37 cases(38 sides), Whereas 5 patients were lost to follow-up at 12 months postoperatively.ROM and grip strength were all recovered to over 85% of the unaffected side(exception of the bilateral patient). Median DASH-index and PRWE were 6.5(0-17) and 9.3(0-20)respectively. Conclusion: Combined volar and dorsal approaches allow achieving anatomic reconstruction in complex four part intra-articular distal radius fractures and reveal good functional outcomes at intermediate follow-up.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the wear intensity and surface roughness of occlusal veneers on premolars made of microhybrid composite resin or two kinds of ceramics in vitro after the thermocycling and cyclic mechanical loading tests. METHODS In the study,24 fresh extracted human premolars without root canal treatment were prepared (cusps reduction of 1.5 mm in thickness to simulate middle to severe tooth wear, the inclinations of cusps were 20°). The prepared teeth were restored with occlusal veneers made of three different materials: microhybrid composite, heat-pressed lithium disilicate ceramic and computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) lithium disilicate ceramic in the thickness of 1.5 mm. The occlusal veneers were cemented with resin cement. The specimens were fatigued using the thermocycling and cyclic mechanical loading tests after being stored in water for 72 h. The wear of specimens was measured using gypsum replicas and 3D laser scanner before and after the thermocycling and cyclic mechanical loading tests and the mean lost distance (mm) was used to indicate the level of wear. The surfaces of occlusal contact area were observed and the surface roughness was recorded using 3D laser scanning confocal microscope before and after the fatigue test. Differences between the groups were compared using ONE-way ANOVA(P<0.05). RESULTS All the specimens successfully survived after the thermocycling and cyclic mechanical loading tests. The mean wear of microhybrid composite group, heat-pressed lithium disilicate ceramic group, and CAD/CAM lithium disilicate ceramic group was (-0.13±0.03) mm, (-0.05±0.01) mm and (-0.05±0.01) mm, the wear of microhybrid composite was significantly higher than the two ceramic groups(P<0.001).The mean surface roughness(Ra)before the fatigue test was(1.24±0.20) μm, (0.75±0.09) μm, (0.73±0.14) μm and it became (1.81±0.24) μm, (1.53±0.26) μm and (1.77±0.23) μm after the test . Before the fatigue test, the surface roughness of microhybrid composite was significantly higher than the two ceramic groups(P<0.001) and after the test, the surface roughness of heat-pressed lithium disilicate ceramic was significantly lower than microhybrid composite(P=0.005) and CAD/CAM lithium disilicate ceramic (P=0.010). CONCLUSION From the view of wear speed, microhybrid composite was significantly higher than the two kinds of ceramics, but it was similar to enamel when the opposing tooth was natural. The surface roughness before the themocycling and cyclic mechanical loading test of microhybrid composite was significantly higher than that of the two ceramic groups. After the test, the surface roughness of heat-pressed ceramic was significantly lower than that of the other two groups. From the view of surface roughness, heat-pressed ceramic has more advantage.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To make more accurate occlusal quantitative analysis of three-dimensional (3D) virtual dental models and to compare the occlusal contact obtained by intraoral and dental cast scan. METHODS In this study, 5 subjects were intraoral scanned using laser scanner (3 shapes, Germany) to obtain the 3D virtual models of one tooth (the first molar), two teeth (the second premolar and the first molar), three teeth (the premolars and the first molar) and their opposite teeth, respectively. The silicone impressions were made and dental stone models were poured for each of them. The dental casts were scanned and then they were fixed to the maximum intercuspal position with a special locating jig for a rescanning of occlusal position. The virtual models taken intraorally and obtained with dental cast scan were introduced to a 3D quantitative analysis system, and some criteria regarding to occlusal contact were calculated and analyzed. The occlusal criteria were mean values of occlusal clearance space between the upper and lower occlusal surface (clearance), occlusal contact area (area), and cusp inclination (angle) of the mandibular first molar. Paired t tests were used to evaluate differences of occlusal criteria between the virtual models obtained with the intraoral scan and dental cast scan (α=0.05). RESULTS The mean values of occlusal clearance of one to three teeth obtained by way of intraoral scan were smaller than those obtained by way of cast scan by 0.134 mm, 0.177 mm, and 0.207 mm, respectively. While the occlusal contact areas were greater than the cast scan by 8.65 mm2, 10.28 mm2, and 11.46 mm2. No statistically significant differences were found between the cusps inclinations obtained with the two scanning methods, and the interclass correlations were high. CONCLUSION Occlusal clearance obtained by intraoral scan was less than that by cast scan while the occlusal contact area was greater than the latter, indicating that intraoral occlusal contact was closer. The difference of the standard deviations of occlusal clearance measured by the two methods were small and that of occlusal contact area was influenced by the number of teeth scanned intraorally. There was no statistical difference in cusp inclination between the two methods.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Auditory verbal hallucinations (AVHs) are one of the most common and severe symptoms of schizophrenia, but the neuroanatomical abnormalities underlying AVHs are not well understood. The present study aims to investigate whether AVHs are associated with cortical thinning. METHODS Participants were schizophrenia patients from four centers across China, 115 with AVHs and 93 without AVHs, as well as 261 healthy controls. All received 3 T T1-weighted brain scans, and whole brain vertex-wise cortical thickness was compared across groups. Correlations between AVH severity and cortical thickness were also determined. RESULTS The left middle part of the middle temporal gyrus (MTG) was significantly thinner in schizophrenia patients with AVHs than in patients without AVHs and healthy controls. Inferences were made using a false discovery rate approach with a threshold at p < 0.05. Left MTG thickness did not differ between patients without AVHs and controls. These results were replicated by a meta-analysis showing them to be consistent across the four centers. Cortical thickness of the left MTG was also found to be inversely correlated with hallucination severity across all schizophrenia patients. CONCLUSION The results of this multi-center study suggest that an abnormally thin left MTG could be involved in the pathogenesis of AVHs in schizophrenia.

Abstract
Glossary of Prosthodontic Terms is a standardized vocabulary with international influence. Its ninth edition was published in J Prosthet Dent in 2017, 12 years after the last edition. During this period, great development has taken place in the dental prosthetics due to dental implant and digital dentistry as well as application of new materials and technologies. The research results of dental adhesion, aesthetic dentistry, orofacial function, and tissue regeneration has been fully applied in dental clinic. This paper attempts to capture and accurately understand the changes of some important, especially controversial academic concepts through the comparison of the seventh, eighth and ninth edition of vocabulary. Four parts including new terms, obsolete terms, terms with updated concept, and terms with the continuity of concept are used to show the important progress of prosthodontics.

Abstract
Biomimetics inspired by superstructures and extraordinary properties of teeth have resulted in tooth repair and the generation of novel materials. However, little attention has been paid to tooth color, whose origin remains unknown. Based on recent studies, fluorophores-mainly aromatic amino acids (AAAs) in proteins-might be responsible for tooth color. We synthesized carbonated hydroxyapatite (HA; the mineral phase of teeth) in the presence of different amino acids (AAs; the basic units of protein matrix of teeth) as a simplified model of teeth to explore the color source at the AA level. After measuring the fluorescence and color characteristics of HA-AAs before and after bleaching treatment, we found that only HA, synthesized in the presence of AAAs, exhibited remarkable fluorescence and color property. Furthermore, linearly increased fluorescence intensity and deeper color were observed with an increase in AAA content in HA-AAAs. Similarly, significantly decreased absorbance of HA-AAAs between 250 and 300 nm in ultraviolet spectra, declined fluorescence intensity, and decolored performance of HA-AAAs were observed after bleaching treatment. The results showed that AAAs contributed to the fluorescence and color properties of HA and that hydrogen peroxide might whiten HA-AAAs by oxidizing the benzene ring in AAAs. These findings are of great significance in promoting the synthesis of advanced tooth-colored materials and furthering our understanding of the possible mechanisms of hydrogen peroxide. Moreover, our study shed light on the importance of AAAs and might provide new ideas for investigations of biomineralization and biomimetics.

Abstract
The ability of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA)-functionalised, silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles to adsorb Pb and Zn from single and bi-metallic metal solutions and from solutions containing dissolved organic carbon was assessed. In all experiments 10 mL solutions containing 10 mg of nanoparticles were used. For single metal solutions (10 mg L-1 Pb or Zn) at pH 2 to 8, extraction efficiencies were typically >70%. In bi-metallic experiments, examining the effect of a background of either Zn or Pb (0.025 mmol L-1) on the adsorption of variable concentrations (0-0.045 mmol L-1) of the other metal (Pb or Zn, respectively) adsorption was well modelled by linear isotherms (R2 > 0.60; p ≤ 0.001) and Pb was preferentially adsorbed relative to Zn. In dissolved organic carbon experiments, the presence of fulvic acid (0, 2.1 and 21 mg DOC L-1) reduced Pb and Zn adsorption from 0.01, 0.1 and 1.0 mmol L-1 solutions. However, even at 21 mg DOC L-1 fulvic acid, extraction efficiencies from 0.01 to 0.1 mmol L-1 solutions remained >80% (Pb) and >50% (Zn). Decreases in extraction efficiency were significant between initial metal concentrations of 0.1 and 1.0 mmol L-1 indicating that at metal loadings between c. 100 mg kg-1 and 300 mg kg-1 occupancy of adsorption sites began to limit further adsorption. The nanoparticles have the potential to perform effectively as metal adsorbents in systems containing more than one metal and dissolved organic carbon at a range of pH values.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The accuracy of preoperative blood oxygen level-dependent fMRI remains controversial. This study assessed the association between the anatomic location of a tumor and the accuracy of fMRI-based motor function mapping in diffuse lower-grade gliomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-five patients with lower-grade gliomas involving motor areas underwent preoperative blood oxygen level-dependent fMRI scans with grasping tasks and received intraoperative direct cortical stimulation. Patients were classified into an overlapping group and a nonoverlapping group, depending on the extent to which blood oxygen level-dependent fMRI and direct cortical stimulation results concurred. Tumor location was quantitatively measured, including the shortest distance from the tumor to the hand knob and the deviation distance of the midpoint of the hand knob in the lesion hemisphere relative to the midline compared with the normal contralateral hemisphere. RESULTS A 4-mm shortest distance from the tumor to the hand knob value was identified as optimal for differentiating the overlapping and nonoverlapping group with the receiver operating characteristic curve (sensitivity, 84.6%; specificity, 77.8%). The shortest distances from the tumor to the hand knob of ≤4 mm were associated with inaccurate fMRI-based localizations of the hand motor cortex. The shortest distances from the tumor to the hand knob were larger (P = .002), and the deviation distances for the midpoint of the hand knob in the lesion hemisphere were smaller (P = .003) in the overlapping group than in the nonoverlapping group. CONCLUSIONS This study suggests that the shortest distance from the tumor to the hand knob and the deviation distance for the midpoint of the hand knob on the lesion hemisphere are predictive of the accuracy of blood oxygen level-dependent fMRI results. Smaller shortest distances from the tumor to the hand knob and larger deviation distances for the midpoint of hand knob on the lesion hemisphere are associated with less accuracy of motor cortex localization with blood oxygen level-dependent fMRI. Preoperative fMRI data for surgical planning should be used cautiously when the shortest distance from the tumor to the hand knob is ≤4 mm, especially for lower-grade gliomas anterior to the central sulcus.

Abstract
The molecular mechanism of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is poorly understood and effective therapeutic approaches are needed. This research aimed to excavate the attractor modules involved in the progression of NPC and provide further understanding of the underlying mechanism of NPC. Based on the gene expression data of NPC, two specific protein-protein interaction networks for NPC and control conditions were re-weighted using Pearson correlation coefficient. Then, a systematic tracking of candidate modules was conducted on the re-weighted networks via cliques algorithm, and a total of 19 and 38 modules were separately identified from NPC and control networks, respectively. Among them, 8 pairs of modules with similar gene composition were selected, and 2 attractor modules were identified via the attract method. Functional analysis indicated that these two attractor modules participate in one common bioprocess of cell division. Based on the strategy of integrating systemic module inference with the attract method, we successfully identified 2 attractor modules. These attractor modules might play important roles in the molecular pathogenesis of NPC via affecting the bioprocess of cell division in a conjunct way. Further research is needed to explore the correlations between cell division and NPC.

Abstract
Many schizophrenia susceptibility loci have been identified through genome-wide association studies (GWASs) in European populations. However, until recently, schizophrenia GWASs in non-European populations were limited to small sample sizes and have yielded few loci associated with schizophrenia. To identify genetic risk variations for schizophrenia in the Han Chinese population, we performed a two-stage GWAS of schizophrenia comprising 4384 cases and 5770 controls, followed by independent replications of 13 single-nucleotide polymorphisms in an additional 4339 schizophrenia cases and 7043 controls of Han Chinese ancestry. Furthermore, we conducted additional analyses based on the results in the discovery stage. The combined analysis confirmed evidence of genome-wide significant associations in the Han Chinese population for three loci, at 2p16.1 (rs1051061, in an exon of VRK2, P=1.14 × 10-12, odds ratio (OR)=1.17), 6p22.1 (rs115070292 in an intron of GABBR1, P=4.96 × 10-10, OR=0.77) and 10q24.32 (rs10883795 in an intron of AS3MT, P=7.94 × 10-10, OR=0.87; rs10883765 at an intron of ARL3, P=3.06 × 10-9, OR=0.87). The polygenic risk score based on Psychiatric Genomics Consortium schizophrenia GWAS data modestly predicted case-control status in the Chinese population (Nagelkerke R2: 1.7% ~5.7%). Our pathway analysis suggested that neurological biological pathways such as GABAergic signaling, dopaminergic signaling, cell adhesion molecules and myelination pathways are involved in schizophrenia. These findings provide new insights into the pathogenesis of schizophrenia in the Han Chinese population. Further studies are needed to establish the biological context and potential clinical utility of these findings.

Abstract
Liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy (PH) is a complex and well-elaborated biological process whereby synchronized cell proliferation is induced in response to the loss of liver mass. Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) signaling, which plays a crucial role in normal growth and development, is involved in the process of liver regeneration. To assess the changes in the levels of serum IGF1 and hepatic IGF1 receptor (IGF1R), we established a mouse model for PH. This also allowed us to further explore the mechanisms that participate in the regulation of liver regeneration. Serum IGF1 dramatically decreased immediately after PH, and was mildly elevated afterwards. This was also confirmed in patients who had undergone PH. Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting showed that hepatic IGF1R expression was elevated after surgery in mice. Hepatosomatic index showed a mild elevation 1 week after surgery and a marked elevation after 3 weeks. Western blotting showed increased levels of forkhead box O3 (FOXO3), but the phosphorylated forms of v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 1 (AKT1), glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3B) and FOXO3 were all downregulated. Our data show that the GSK3B-FOXO3 pathway is activated after PH, and this may be one of the mechanisms that lead to upregulation of hepatic IGF1R after PH. All these changes after surgery promote liver regeneration.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Glioblastoma is the most common and most lethal primary brain cancer. CBF1 (also known as Recombination signal Binding Protein for immunoglobulin kappa J, RBPJ) is the cardinal transcriptional regulator of the Notch signalling network and has been shown to promote cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) in glioblastoma. Recent studies suggest that some of the malignant properties of CSCs are mediated through the activation of pro-invasive programme of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Little is known whether CBF1 is involved in the EMT-like phenotype of glioma cells. METHODS In a collection of GBM neurosphere lines, we genetically inhibited CBF1 and investigated the consequences on EMT-related properties, including in vitro invasiveness by Boyden chambers assay, chemoresistance using a clinical drug library screen and glycolytic metabolism assessing live-cell extracellular acidification rate. We also compared CBF1 expression in cells exposed to low and high oxygen tension. In silico analysis in large-scale Western and Eastern patient cohorts investigated the clinical prognostic value of CBF1 expression in low- and high-grade glioma as well as medulloblastoma. RESULTS Mean CBF1 expression is significantly increased in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) R132H mutant glioblastoma and serves as prognostic marker for prolonged overall survival in brain tumours, particularly after therapy with temozolomide. Hypoxic regions of glioblastoma have higher CBF1 activation and exposure to low oxygen can induce its expression in glioma cells in vitro. CBF1 inhibition blocks EMT activators such as zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) and significantly reduces cellular invasion and resistance to clinically approved anticancer drugs. Moreover, we indicate that CBF1 inhibition can impede cellular glycolysis. CONCLUSIONS Mean CBF1 activation in bulk tumour samples serves as a clinical predictive biomarker in brain cancers but its intratumoral and intertumoral expression is highly heterogeneous. Microenvironmental changes such as hypoxia can stimulate the activation of CBF1 in glioblastoma. CBF1 blockade can suppress glioblastoma invasion in vitro in particular in cells undergone EMT such as those found in the hypoxic niche. Targeting CBF1 can be an effective anti-EMT therapy to impede invasive properties and chemosensitivity in those cells.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate a personalized orthognathic surgical guide (POSG) system for bimaxillary surgery without the use of surgical splint. Ten patients with dentofacial deformities were enrolled. Surgeries were planned with the computer-aided surgical simulation method. The POSG system was designed for both maxillary and mandibular surgery. Each consisted of cutting guides and three-dimensionally (3D) printed custom titanium plates to guide the osteotomy and repositioning the bony segments without the use of the surgical splints. Finally, the outcome evaluation was completed by comparing planned outcomes with postoperative outcomes. All operations were successfully completed using the POSG system. The largest root-mean-square deviations were 0.74mm and 1.93° for the maxillary dental arch, 1.10mm and 2.82° for the mandibular arch, 0.83mm and 2.59° for the mandibular body, and 0.98mm and 2.45° for the proximal segments. The results of the study indicated that our POSG system is capable of accurately and effectively transferring the surgical plan without the use of surgical splint. A significant advantage is that the repositioning of the bony segments is independent to the mandibular autorotation, thus eliminates the potential problems associated with the surgical splint.

Abstract
As 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio plays a significant role in authenticating the geographical origin of foodstuff, it is important to identify where the 87 Sr/86 Sr signature in food comes from, and the methods of 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio analysis in food and environmental samples. Wheat with three genotypes, soil and groundwater samples were collected from three regions of China during harvest time of 2014. The 87 Sr/86 Sr ratios in the samples were determined by thermal ionization mass spectrometer in order to investigate the possible source of 87 Sr/86 Sr in wheat, and the concentrations of Rb and Sr in wheat and soils were also detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and combined with 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio in order to trace the geographical origin of wheat. The 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio, the contents Rb and Sr, and Rb/Sr ratio of wheat and soil samples showed significant differences among three regions. The 87 Sr/86 Sr ratios and the concentrations of Rb and Sr in soils were higher than those in corresponding wheat. The 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio in wheat was identical to that corresponding soil NH4 NO3 extracts (labile fraction of soil) and groundwater. Wheat uptake more Rb than Sr. 3D distribution of 87 Sr/86 Sr, Rb and Sr could identify wheat samples from different regions clearly. The 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio of wheat reflects the 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio of the associated environment including soil and groundwater. It is expected that the use the parameters of 87 Sr/86 Sr ratio, the contents of Rb and Sr will allow to trace geographical origin of wheat. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract
AIMS The aim of this study was to rapidly screen potential hypoglycaemic strain by α-glucosidase inhibitory activity in vitro, then explored the antidiabetic effect of Lactobacillus plantarum CCFM0236 in vivo. METHODS AND RESULTS The cell-free supernatant of Lact. plantarum CCFM0236 significantly inhibited α-glucosidase activity in vitro. Therefore, the effects of Lact. plantarum CCFM0236, with potential hypoglycaemia activity, on insulin resistance and hyperglycaemia were explored in high-fat and streptozotocin-induced type 2 diabetes mice. Oral administration of Lact. plantarum CCFM0236 was found to decrease food intake, blood glucose level, glycosylated haemoglobin level and leptin level. Treatments of Lact. plantarum CCFM0236 also favourably regulated insulin level, AUCglucose , and HOMA-IR index, and increased the activities of glutathione peroxidase and the levels of glutathione, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and interleukin-10. In addition, Lact. plantarum CCFM0236 reduced levels of malondialdehyde and tumour necrosis factor-α and protected pancreas function. CONCLUSIONS Lactobacillus plantarum CCFM0236 has potential hypoglycaemic ability by ameliorating insulin resistance, antioxidant capacity and systemic inflammation in mice. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY The method of α-glucosidase inhibitory activity could be effectively used to screen potential hypoglycaemic products and Lact. plantarum CCFM0236 might be a promising therapeutic agent for ameliorating type 2 diabetes.

Abstract
Wogonoside is the main flavonoid of the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and has been found to induce growth suppression in myelogenous leukemia cells. However, its activity in T acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is still unclear. In this study, T-ALL cell lines MOLT-3 and Jurkat were exposed to different concentrations of wogonoside for 48 h, and cell viability, cell cycle distribution, and apoptosis were measured. The involvement of signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling in the activity of wogonoside was checked. The in vivo effect of wogonoside on T-ALL growth was investigated in a xenograft mouse model. Wogonoside significantly inhibited the viability of MOLT-3 and Jurkat cells, with the IC50 (the half maximal concentration) of 68.5 ± 3.8 and 52.6 ± 4.3 μM, respectively. However, healthy T lymphocytes were unaffected. Wogonoside-treated Jurkat cells exhibited a G1-phase cell cycle arrest and significant apoptosis, which was coupled with inactivation of STAT3 signaling. Overexpression of constitutively active STAT3 reversed wogonoside-mediated growth suppression and apoptosis and restored the expression of cyclin D1, Mcl-1, and Bcl-xL. In vivo studies demonstrated that wogonoside retarded tumor growth and suppressed STAT3 phosphorylation in Jurkat xenografts. In conclusion, wogonoside suppresses the growth of T-ALL through the STAT3 pathway and may have therapeutic benefits in this disease.

Abstract
Background: Tumors with infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) demonstrate a better prognosis particularly in TNBC and HER2 positive breast cancer. Two competing hypothesis predict contrasting relationships of TILs and genomic heterogeneity. On one hand, a strong immune response may lead to “pruning” of intratumor heterogeneity by eliminating immunogenic clones resulting in a near equilibrium, hence better prognosis, while cancers that escape the surveillance may evolve towards greater clonal heterogeneity and genomic complexity. In some cancers, the predicted neoantigens are less frequent than expected by chance also suggesting immune mediated elimination of neoplastic clones (Rooney et al. 2015). Studies also showed an inverse association between immune cell infiltration and intratumor clonal heterogeneity (Morris et al. 2016). On the other hand, cancers with greater genomic instability and mutational burden will have larger clonal heterogeneity and therefore more neoantigens and greater immune infiltration. Indeed, a positive correlation between overall mutation load and immune activity in the tumor microenvironment was observed in pooled data across a broad range of cancer types (Brown et al. 2014, Rooney et al. 2015, Schumacher and Schreiber 2015).
Methods: We assessed these two competing hypothesis and examined the relationship between genomic complexity and immune gene expression in different breast cancer subtypes. We used previously described immune metagene expression (DNA microarray n=655) as measures of immune infiltration in the TCGA data set (RNA-Seq n=1215). We compared somatic mutations, mutation count, neoantigen load, clonal heterogeneity metrics and the distribution of mutations in 119 canonical cancer genes and 12 cancer pathways between good and poor prognosis TNBC (n=208) corresponding to high and low immune infiltration.
Results:A positive but weak correlation between mutation count and immune metagene expression was observed when all breast cancer subtypes were analyzed together (P=0.08). This was driven by the generally higher mutation count and immune infiltration in TNBC. When TNBC was analyzed separately, good prognosis TNBC with high immune infiltration had lower total mutation count (P=0.021) and predicted neo-antigen count (P=0.035). Clonal heterogeneity was also lower in good prognosis TNBC (P=0.001). There was a strong inverse relationship of dispersion in mutation variant allele frequencies and immune metagene expression. CASP8 was the top enriched mutation in TNBC with high immune infiltration (P=0.007 with no adjustment for multiple testing).
Conclusions:High immune infiltration is associated with reduced intratumor heterogeneity in TNBC suggesting immune sculpting of the tumor and a near equilibrium between the cancer and immune surveillance. Surgical resection of the primary tumor may tilt the balance towards the immune system resulting in the better prognosis of high-TIL TNBC. TNBC with low immune infiltration has greater clonal heterogeneity and mutation load and may represent the consequence of escape from immune surveillance. Mutation of CASP8 may be one way to evade tumor cell killing in high-TIL TNBC as previously noted.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the application of qualitative and quantitative diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in predicting the histological grade of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS Two hundred and fifty-four patients with pathologically confirmed HCC who underwent hepatic DWI on a 1.5-T platform (b = 0, 600 s/mm2) were evaluated retrospectively. HCCs were divided into well-, moderately, and poorly differentiated groups. The relationships between naked-eye signal intensity (SI), SI values, apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values on DWI, and the histopathological differentiation of HCC were analysed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were drawn to determine the optimal operating points (OOPs) of the SI and ADC values to predict the tumour grade. RESULTS A weak negative correlation (r=-0.350, p<0.05) was obtained between naked-eye SI and histological grade. There was a significant difference in mean SI values between well- (68.32±31.71) and moderately (102.39±45.55)/poorly (114.55±32.15) differentiated HCC but not between moderately and poorly differentiated HCC. The OOP of the SI value by ROC curve analysis was 66.5 to predict well-differentiated HCC. The mean ADC values of well-, moderately, and poorly differentiated HCC were 1.67±0.13×10-3, 1.31±0.16×10-3, and 1.08±0.11×10-3 mm2/s, respectively, with significant differences between any two combinations of groups. The OOPs of ADC to diagnose well- and poorly differentiated HCC were 1.5×10-3 and 1.24×10-3 mm2/s, respectively. CONCLUSION Qualitative and quantitative SI and ADC values at DWI may be useful to estimate the histological grade of HCC preoperatively and non-invasively.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the mutation status of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and KRAS gene in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in Xuanwei, Yunnan and to correlate the mutation status with clinicopathologic features. METHODS Mutation status of exons 18, 19, 20 and 21 of EGFR, and codons 12, 13 of KRAS in 63 cases of NSCLC were analyzed by gene sequencing and ARMS-Taqman probe method. Correlation with patients' clinicopathological characteristics was performed. RESULTS EGFR and KRAS mutations were present in 55.6% (35/63) and 6.3% (4/63), respectively. EGFR gene mutations were present, including exon 18 G719X in 14.3% (5/35), exon 19 in 14.3% (5/35), exon 20 S768I and T790M in 20.0% (7/35), exon 21 L858R in 31.4% (11/35), exon 18 G719X and exon 20 S768I double mutation in 17.1% (6/35), and exon 20 T790M and exon 21 L858R double mutation in 2.9% (1/35). KRAS mutations were seen in codon 12 in 3 of 4 cases, and codon 13 in 1 of 4 cases. EGFR mutations were mutually exclusive with KRAS mutations. According to statistic analysis, EGFR mutations were associated with the histological types of NSCLC(P<0.05), but without correlation with patient's gender, age, smoking status and lymph node metastasis(P>0.05). KRAS mutations in NSCLC had no correlation with the clinical pathologic characteristics of the patients. CONCLUSIONS A higher frequency of EGFR exon 18 G719X and 20 exon S768I mutations are found in the patients in Xuanwei, Yunnan. EGFR mutations are associated with histologic types of NSCLC, but without correlation with patient's gender, age, smoking status and lymph node metastasis. KRAS mutation in NSCLC has no correlation with the clinicopathologic characteristics of the patients.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate fungi contamination and the natural occurrence of mycotoxins in corn feed ingredients collected from China. Methods: A total of 94 corn feed ingredient samples were collected from 8 Chinese provinces(i.e., Anhui, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, and Shandong)in February 2014. A tandem ultra-performance liquid chromatographymass spectrometry method was used for simultaneous detection of twelve kinds of mycotoxins, including aflatoxin(AF), type A and type B tricothecenes, and zearalenone(ZEN). Contaminated fungi were also identified and counted. Results: AF was detected in 36.2%(34/94)of samples; the concentration of AFB1 was the highest in the four AFs with the range: 0.3~181.3 μg/kg; and then followed by AFB2(range: 1.0-74.3 μg/kg). There were 7 samples(7.5%)with AFB1 concentrations higher than the tolerance limit of 50 μg/kg. The concentration of type A tricothecenes in all samples was lower(0.1-10.5 μg/kg). DON had the most serious contamination than other kind of type B tricothecenes(range: 0.7-606.6 μg/kg; median: 66.3 μg/kg). The DON concentration in all samples was below the tolerance limit of 1 000 μg/kg. ZEN was detected in 76.6%(72/ 94)of samples(median: 36.9 μg/kg), with 3 samples having ZEN concentrations higher than the tolerance limit of 500 μg/kg. The survey on fungi contamination showed that all samples were contaminated by fungi(range: 5.0-1.4×105 CFU/g). There were 18 and 3 samples with quantities of fungi higher than the tolerance and forbidden limits, respectively. The Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium, Trichoderma and Mucor genuses were the predominant fungi in corn feed ingredients, with detection rates of 71.3%(67), 60.6%(57), 71.3%(67), 27.7%(26), and 24.5%(23), respectively. The detection rate of Fusarium moniliforme, 73.4%(69/94)was higher than that of Aspergillus flavus, 41.5%(39/94). Conclusion: In this survey, the corn feed ingredients were not seriously contaminated by AF and type A tricothecenes but mainly contaminated by type B trichothecenes, including DON and its derivatives, as well as ZEN. They were also contaminated by fungi such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Fusarium.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. MicroRNA-34 (miR-34) gene plays a key role in altering the apoptotic cycle and pathways of downstream cells, and therefore influences carcinogenesis. In this case-control study, we assessed the role of the pri-miR-34b/c rs4938723 polymorphism in HCC risk. The pri-miR-34b/c polymorphic genotype was determined in 286 patients with HCC and 572 controls using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. The male gender (X2 = 12.95, P < 0.001), regular alcohol consumption (X2 = 16.81, P < 0.001), and a family history of cancer (X2 = 11.88, P = 0.001) were associated with HCC risk. However, the age (t = 1.19, P = 0.12) and tobacco smoking habit (X2 = 0.64, P = 0.42) of HCC patients were comparable to those of the controls. The TC (adjusted OR = 1.46, 95%CI = 1.06-2.01) and CC (adjusted OR = 3.07, 95%CI = 1.77-5.34) genotypes of pri-miR-34b/c rs4938723 were correlated with a higher risk of HCC compared to the TT genotype. Moreover, the TC+CC genotype was correlated with an increased risk of HCC compared to the TT genotype (adjusted OR = 1.64, 95%CI = 1.21-2.22). In the recessive model, the CC genotype of pri-miR-34b/c rs4938723 was significantly correlated with an elevated risk of HCC compared to the TT+TC genotype (adjusted OR = 2.50, 95%CI = 1.49-4.22). Further large-scale and multi-center studies are required to confirm these results.

Abstract
Individuals carrying balanced translocations have a high risk of birth defects, recurrent spontaneous abortions and infertility. Thus, the detection and characterization of balanced translocations is important to reveal the genetic background of the carriers and to provide proper genetic counseling. Next-generation sequencing (NGS), which has great advantages over other methods such as karyotyping and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), has been used to detect disease-associated breakpoints. Herein, to evaluate the application of this technology to detect balanced translocations in the clinic, we performed a parental study for prenatal cases with unbalanced translocations. Eight candidate families with potential balanced translocations were investigated using two strategies in parallel, low-coverage whole-genome sequencing (WGS) followed-up by Sanger sequencing and G-banding karyotype coupled with FISH. G-banding analysis revealed three balanced translocations, and FISH detected two cryptic submicroscopic balanced translocations. Consistently, WGS detected five balanced translocations and mapped all the breakpoints by Sanger sequencing. Analysis of the breakpoints revealed that six genes were disrupted in the four apparently healthy carriers. In summary, our result suggested low-coverage WGS can detect balanced translocations reliably and can map breakpoints precisely compared with conventional procedures. WGS may replace cytogenetic methods in the diagnosis of balanced translocation carriers in the clinic.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for localized recurrent thyroid cancers. METHODS We did a systematic review and meta-analysis of the scientific literature by searching the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science,Scopus and the Cochrane Library up to November 26, 2015. We assessed the pooled standard mean difference (SMD) of nodule volume, largest diameter and serum thyroglobulin (Tg) level by comparing pre-RFA with post-RFA using fixed or random-effects model. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the included studies, risk of bias in the selective populations, comparability of groups and exposure. RESULTS We finally identified nine articles including 189 patients (male: 54 and female: 135) with 255 tumor lesions, who underwent ultrasound (US)-guided RFA beyond the mean 6 months of follow-up. The results showed that tumor volume (SWD: 0.77, 95 % CI: 0.57-0.97, I (2) = 25.9 %, p = 0.231), largest diameter (SWD: 1.56, 95 % CI: 0.94-2.17, I (2) = 82.6 %, p < 0.001) and Tg level (SWD: 0.52, 95 % CI: 0.30-0.73, I (2) = 0 %, p = 0.493) were decreased and no significant publication bias was detectable. CONCLUSIONS The pooled data indicated that the prognosis improved for patients with localized recurrent thyroid cancers and RFA is a promising treatment for these patients with infeasible surgery.

Abstract
Membrane transporters mediate one of the most fundamental processes in biology. They are the main gatekeepers controlling active traffic of materials in a highly selective and regulated manner between different cellular compartments demarcated by biological membranes. At the heart of the mechanism of membrane transporters lie protein conformational changes of diverse forms and magnitudes, which closely mediate critical aspects of the transport process, most importantly the coordinated motions of remotely located gating elements and their tight coupling to chemical processes such as binding, unbinding and translocation of transported substrate and cotransported ions, ATP binding and hydrolysis, and other molecular events fueling uphill transport of the cargo. An increasing number of functional studies have established the active participation of lipids and other components of biological membranes in the function of transporters and other membrane proteins, often acting as major signaling and regulating elements. Understanding the mechanistic details of these molecular processes require methods that offer high spatial and temporal resolutions. Computational modeling and simulations technologies empowered by advanced sampling and free energy calculations have reached a sufficiently mature state to become an indispensable component of mechanistic studies of membrane transporters in their natural environment of the membrane. In this article, we provide an overview of a number of major computational protocols and techniques commonly used in membrane transporter modeling and simulation studies. The article also includes practical hints on effective use of these methods, critical perspectives on their strengths and weak points, and examples of their successful applications to membrane transporters, selected from the research performed in our own laboratory.

Abstract
Currently published studies on the relationship between hormonal and reproductive factors and esophageal cancer (EC) risk in women have yielded contradictory findings. For a better understanding of this relationship, we first performed this meta-analysis by pooling all available publications. Sixteen independent studies were retrieved after a comprehensive search in PubMed and Embase databases. The pooled relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated. The pooled RRs implicated that hormone replacement therapy was negatively associated with the risk of EC (RR = 0.72, 95% CI 0.60-0.86, P < 0.001) and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (RR = 0.68, 95% CI 0.48-0.97, P = 0.031). Menopausal women were at an increased risk of EC (RR = 1.47, 95% CI 1.07-2.03, P = 0.018), particularly esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (RR = 1.66, 95% CI 1.12-2.48, P = 0.012). Additionally, decreased risk of EC (RR = 0.79, 95% CI 0.68-0.92, P = 0.003) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (RR = 0.66, 95% CI 0.53-0.82, P < 0.001) was demonstrated among women with breast-feeding history. Moreover, such associations were more significant among Caucasians, but not Asians. Our study suggests that menopause is an independent risk factor for EC, while hormone replacement therapy and breast-feeding history play a protective role against EC, particularly among Caucasians. All results are consistent with the hypothesis that effects of estrogen may lower the risk of EC in women.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the differential diagnostic value of DTI parameters in breast mass lesions by comparing apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), fractional aniotropy (FA) and maximum eigenvalue (λ1)of normal glandular tissue, benign lesions and malignant lesions. METHODS A total of 71 women patients with 74 mass lesions between December 2013 and October 2015 were enrolled from Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital.MRI protocol included dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI)and diffusion tentor imaging(DTI) were executed.The ADC, λ1 and FA of lesions and normal glandular tissue were calculated.The ADC, λ1 and FA of lesions were compared by paired t test between the benign/malignant tumors and the contratlateral healthy breast tissue.ROC curve analysis was performed to compare diagnostic performance based on the area under the curve(AUC). The sensitivity and specificity of the DCE-MRI combined with ADC and DCE-MRI combined with λ1 were calculated. RESULTS The ADC, FA and λ1 values of malignant lesions were (1.09±0.18)×10(-3) mm(2)/s, 0.22±0.02 and(0.97±0.19)×10(-3) mm(2)/s , these values of benign lesions were (1.52±0.19)×10(-3) mm(2)/s, 0.21±0.02 and(1.79±0.19)×10(-3) mm(2)/s, there were statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). Area under the curve of ADC, FA and λ1 were 0.990, 0.605 and 0.978, respectively. The AUC of FA was lower than that of ADC and λ1(P<0.01, <0.01), but there was no difference between the AUC of ADC and that of λ1(P=0.131 6). The sensitivity DCE-MRI combined with ADC and DCE-MRI combined with λ1 was 88.6% vs 97.1%(P=0.353 3), the specificity was 84.6% vs 97.4%(P=0.113 0). CONCLUSION ADC and λ1 is helpful to differentiate malignant from benign in mass lesions.
