Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the protocol for diagnosing thyroid nodules based on core needle biopsy (CNB) and study the biomarkers' application in distinguishing indeterminate samples. METHODS Patients with thyroid nodules treated at Peking University First Hospital from 2015 to 2020 were reviewed. In the study, 598 cases with CNB and matched resected specimens were retrieved. According to "diagnostic categories of thyroid CNB" proposed by the Korean Endocrine Pathology Thyroid Core Needle Biopsy Study Group, the CNB samples were diagnosed as follows: Ⅰ, unsatisfactory; Ⅱ, benign; Ⅲ, indeterminate; Ⅳ, follicular neoplasm; Ⅴ, suspicious for malignancy; and Ⅵ, malignant. The samples of CNB Ⅲ were stained by immunohistochemistry (IHC) using antibodies against CK19, Galectin-3, HBME-1, and CD56, and detected by next-generation sequencing (NGS) using an OncoAim® thyroid cancer multigene assay kit (Singlera Genomics) that detected 26 genes. Taking the resected specimens' classification as the gold standard, the predictive value of CNB for determining the malignancy of thyroid nodules and the biomarkers for distinguishing the samples of CNB Ⅲ was calculated. RESULTS The study included 598 patients, of which none were CNB Ⅰ, 40 cases were CNB Ⅱ, 40 cases were CNB Ⅲ, 32 cases were CNB Ⅳ, 35 cases were CNB Ⅴ, and 451 cases were CNB Ⅵ. The predictive value of CNB Ⅳ for determining follicular neoplasm was sensitivity (Sen) 100.00% and specificity (Sep) 100.00%, CNB Ⅴ-Ⅵ for determining malignancy was Sen 94.55% and Sep 100.00%, CNB Ⅱ for determining benign lesions was Sen 75.00% and Sep 99.80%. The predictive value of biomarkers for determining malignancy in cases of CNB Ⅲ was Sen 96.30% and Sep 92.31% by NGS, and Sen 81.48% and Sep 92.30% by IHC. CONCLUSION The Korean "diagnostic categories of thyroid CNB", which considers the histological specificity of CNB samples and the habits of clinicians, have strong operability, high diagnosis rate, and high clinical value. Under this framework, the cases of CNB Ⅵ should be treated with surgical operation, the cases of CNB Ⅴ-Ⅵ are recommended to be treated as malignant neoplasms, and the major cases of CNB Ⅱ could be followed up without worrisome except the one considered malignant by ultrasound. The value of biomarkers in distinguishing the cases of CNB Ⅲ is significant.

Abstract
Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) remains the most common cause of vision loss post cataract surgery. The clinical management of PCO formation is limited to either physical impedance of residual lens epithelial cells (LECs) by implantation of specially designed intraocular lenses (IOL) or laser ablation of the opaque posterior capsular tissues; however, these strategies cannot fully eradicate PCO and are associated with other ocular complications. In this review, we critically appraise recent advances in conventional and nanotechnology-based drug delivery approaches to PCO prophylaxis. We focus on long-acting dosage forms, including drug-eluting IOL, injectable hydrogels, nanoparticles and implants, highlighting analysis of their controlled drug-release properties (e.g., release duration, maximum drug release, drug-release half-life). The rational design of drug delivery systems by considering the intraocular environment, issues of initial burst release, drug loading content, delivery of drug combination and long-term ocular safety holds promise for the development of safe and effective pharmacological applications in anti-PCO therapies.

Contamination levels of and potential risks from metal(loid)s in soil-crop systems in high geological background areas. THE SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT 2023; 881:163405. Abstract
Soil metal(loid)s in high geological background areas occur mainly in the residual form with low bioavailability, and whether these potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in agricultural soils are harmful to human health is of considerable public concern. A paired survey using both soil and crop samples was conducted using 437 contaminated sites in east Yunnan province, southwest China. The concentration, distribution, and source of PTEs (arsenic (As), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and chromium (Cr)) in agricultural soils, and the contamination levels of and potential health risks from PTEs from different pollution sources were evaluated. Soil Pb, Cu, Zn, Cd, Cr, and As concentrations were higher than the Chinese screening values (GB 15618-2018) of 10.98, 36.16, 24.71, 86.96, 14.19, and 6.64 %, respectively, and Cd greatly exceeded the screening values. Spatial distribution maps indicate that areas with high concentrations of Pb, Cu, Cd, and As were located mainly in mining areas. However, the Zn and Cr concentrations were relatively homogeneous and more dependent on natural processes. The source identification of PTEs shows that Zn and Cr in soils were controlled mainly by the geological background, Pb and As were closely related to anthropogenic activities, and Cu and Cd were related to both sources. Different pollution sources affected crop PTE contents, with average concentrations of Zn, Cd, Cr, and As in high geological background areas significantly lower than in anthropogenic activity areas (p < 0.001), while Cu and As did not differ significantly. Although soil PTEs in high geological background areas represent a relatively high potential risk, they had little impact on crop quality. The hazard indices of different crop products for adults and children followed the sequence: cereals > leafy vegetables > rootstalk vegetables > fruit vegetables. Rootstalk and fruit vegetables are recommended to be grown in the study areas because they are safe for human consumption.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is gradually becoming a first-line treatment of complicated acute type B aortic dissection (ATBAD). Interestingly, according to years of experience in the treatment of ATBAD, we found that patients with ATBAD often had unexplained noninfectious fever after TEVAR. This study aims to explore its clinical characteristics and independent risk factors. METHODS From January 2016 to September 2021, 211 consecutive patients treated electively by TEVAR for ATBAD were included. The entry tears in all patients originated in the distal to the left subclavian artery (LSA). All patients were diagnosed with ATBAD for the first time. The definition of fever in this study was that the body temperature of patients after TEVAR exceeds 38°C. RESULTS A total of 211 patients (53.62 ± 11.34 years, 81% men) were included in the analysis. To compare patients who did and did not have post-TEVAR fever, they were respectively classified as the fever group and the nonfever group. Fever was diagnosed in 115 (55%) patients. Preoperatively, statistical differences were recorded in age (P = 0.023) and red blood cell (P = 0.037). Age <60 years [odds ratio (OR) 2.194, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.147-4.196, P = 0.018] and duration of the operation >3 hr (OR 3.586, 95% CI 1.133-11.350, P = 0.03) were positively associated with fever. In the comparison of preoperative and postoperative experimental data, the changes in white blood cell (P = 0.046) and platelet (P = 0.007) of the 2 groups were significantly different. Hospital stay (P = 0.009) and postoperative hospital stay (P < 0.001) in the fever group were significantly prolonged. There was no difference in survival in the mid- and long-term follow-up between the 2 groups. CONCLUSIONS Noninfectious fever occurs in more than half of the patients after TEVAR (115/211, 54.5%). Patients in the fever group are younger. Age <60 years and duration of the operation >3 hr are independent risk factors for noninfectious fever in patients with ATBAD after TEVAR fever. Noninfectious fever after TEVAR may lead to prolonged hospital stay. However, it did not affect mid- and long-term prognosis.

Abstract
Colleges and universities are challenged with making their campuses safe from many threats of violence such as active shooters by using strategies that are effective and acceptable to their campus communities. Implementing strategies that are ineffective can waste resources and implementing strategies that are unacceptable may result in students, faculty, and staff that protest or leave the campus. The current study evaluated the acceptability of 11 different strategies to prevent active shooters on college/university campuses. Self-efficacy of the participants was measured to determine influences on acceptability ratings along with other demographic variables such as gender, race, and education levels. Results revealed differences in acceptability of active shooter prevention procedures and demographic variable influences. Implications for designing prevention measures on college and university campuses are discussed.

Abstract
AbstractWidefield microscopy can provide optical access to multi-millimeter fields of view and thousands of neurons in mammalian brains at video rate. However, tissue scattering and background contamination results in signal deterioration, making the extraction of neuronal activity challenging, laborious and time consuming. Here we present our deep-learning-based widefield neuron finder (DeepWonder), which is trained by simulated functional recordings and effectively works on experimental data to achieve high-fidelity neuronal extraction. Equipped with systematic background contribution priors, DeepWonder conducts neuronal inference with an order-of-magnitude-faster speed and improved accuracy compared with alternative approaches. DeepWonder removes background contaminations and is computationally efficient. Specifically, DeepWonder accomplishes 50-fold signal-to-background ratio enhancement when processing terabytes-scale cortex-wide functional recordings, with over 14,000 neurons extracted in 17 h.

Abstract
The efficient conversion of a C-H bond in the polyether chain to other functional groups provides great opportunities for development of novel applications in many research fields. However, this field is quite underdeveloped due to the key challenge on controlling the selectivity of the C-H bond functionalization over the chain cleavage. In this work, we report a controllable C-H bond alkylation of polyethers under mild conditions via photoinduced iron catalysis. The level of functionalization could be controlled by using different amounts of alkenes and various reaction times, while the molecular weight distributions were maintained narrow. A broad scope of electron-deficient alkenes containing nitrile, ester, epoxide, terminal alkynyl, 2,5-dioxotetrafuranyl, and 2,5-dioxopyrrolidinyl groups could be utilized to functionalize the different polyethers with great efficiencies. The potential applications of the modified polyethylene glycols and polyethylene oxides were explored by the preparation of novel hydrogels and solid-state electrolytes with enhancement of lithium ion conductivities. Moreover, the density functional theory calculation disclosed the plausible mechanism and explained the high selectivity for the C-H alkylation.

Abstract
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most prevalent psychiatric disorders that affects children and even continues into adulthood. Dexmedetomidine (DEX), a short-term sedative, can selectively activate the α2-adrenoceptor. Treatment with α2-adrenergic agonists in patients with ADHD is becoming increasingly common. However, the therapeutic potential of DEX for the treatment of ADHD is unknown. Here, we evaluated the effect of DEX on ADHD-like behavior in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs), a widely used animal model of ADHD. DEX treatment ameliorated hyperactivity and spatial working memory deficits and normalized θ electroencephalogram (EEG) rhythms in SHRs. We also found that DEX treatment altered the gut microbiota composition and promoted the enrichment of beneficial gut bacterial genera associated with anti-inflammatory effects in SHRs. The gut pathological scores and permeability and the level of inflammation observed in the gut and brain were remarkably improved after DEX administration. Moreover, transplantation of fecal microbiota from DEX-treated SHRs produced effects that mimicked the therapeutic effects of DEX administration. Therefore, DEX is a promising treatment for ADHD that functions by reshaping the composition of the gut microbiota and reducing inflammation in the gut and brain.

Abstract
Recent studies have demonstrated that Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn) is associated with gastric cancer (GC). Cancer-derived exosomes contain key regulatory non-coding RNAs and are crucial medium of intercellular communication. However, the function and regulatory mechanism of exosomes (Fn-GCEx) secreted from Fn-infected GC cells remains unclear. In this study, Fn-GCEx enhanced the proliferation, migration and invasion capacity of GC cells in vitro, as well as tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. And, HOTTIP was upregulated in GC cells treated with Fn-GCEx. Moreover, knockdown of HOTTIP weakened the effects of Fn-GCEx in recipient GC cells. Mechanistically, HOTTIP promoted EphB2 expression by sponging miR-885-3p, thus activating the PI3K/AKT pathway in Fn-GCEx treated GC cells. Overall, Fn infection induced the upregulation of exosomal HOTTIP from GC cells that subsequently promoted GC progression via the miR-885-3p/EphB2/PI3K/AKT axis. Herein, we identify a potential molecular pathway and therapeutic target for GC.

Abstract
The ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne reaction is critical for AGB star nucleosynthesis due to its connection to the abundances of several key isotopes, such as ^{21}Ne and ^{22}Ne. However, the ambiguous resonance energy and spin-parity of the dominant 470 keV resonance leads to substantial uncertainty in the ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne reaction rate for the temperature of interest. We have measured the resonance energies and strengths of the low-energy resonances in ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne at the Jinping Underground Nuclear Astrophysics experimental facility (JUNA) with improved precision. The key 470 keV resonance energy has been measured to be E_{α}=474.0±1.1 keV, with such high precision achieved for the first time. The spin-parity of this resonance state is determined to be 1^{-}, removing discrepancies in the resonance strengths in earlier studies. The results significantly improve the precision of the ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne reaction rates by up to about 10 times compared with the previous data at typical AGB temperatures of 0.1-0.3 GK. We demonstrate that such improvement leads to precise ^{21}Ne abundance predictions, with an impact on probing the origin of meteoritic stardust SiC grains from AGB stars.

Abstract
Rechargeable Li-CO2 battery represents a sustainable technology by virtue of CO2 recyclability and energy storage capability. Unfortunately, the sluggish mass transport and electron transfer in bulky high-crystalline discharge product of Li2 CO3 , severely hinder its practical capacity and rechargeability. Herein, a heterostructure of isolated metalloid Te atomic cluster anchored on N-doped carbon nanosheets is designed (TeAC @NCNS) as a metal-free cathode for Li-CO2 battery. X-ray absorption spectroscopy analysis demonstrates that the abundant and dispersed Te active centers can be stabilized by C atoms in form of the covalent bond. The fabricated battery shows an unprecedented full-discharge capacity of 28.35 mAh cm-2 at 0.05 mA cm-2 and long-term cycle life of up to 1000 h even at a high cut-off capacity of 1 mAh cm-2 . A series of ex situ characterizations combined with theoretical calculations demonstrate that the abundant Te atomic clusters acting as active centers can drive the electron redistribution of carbonate via forming TeO bonds, giving rise to poor-crystalline Li2 CO3 film during the discharge process. Moreover, the efficient electron transfer between the Te centers and intermediate species is energetically beneficial for nucleation and accelerates the decomposition of Li2 CO3 on the TeAC @NCNS during the discharge/charge process.

Abstract
Compared with other techniques for wastewater treatment, adsorption offers an effective, economical and ecofriendly way to reduce the content of biogenic amines. Herein, the poly(ether-block-amide) (PEBA 2533) membranes were employed as the adsorbent to remove histamine, putrescine, cadaverine and tyramine in the synthetic and real wastewater from a local yellow rice wine factory. Electrospun PEBA membranes consisting of fine nanofibers were successfully obtained without the addition of surfactant for the first time. Characteristics of the prepared membranes were evaluated by their morphology, wetting behaviors and mechanical properties. Adsorption performance of the nanofibrous membrane was investigated in comparison to the dense membrane prepared by conventional casting. The fibrous membrane exhibited much higher adsorption rate over 10 times to the dense membrane along with 1.5 times more adsorption capacity towards the amines. In addition, the as-prepared membrane showed a promising reusability in the real wastewater treatment. The good balance of its chemical stability, adsorption capacity, selectivity, removal efficiency and reusability endows the electrospun membrane with an outstanding potential to be applied in the acidic wastewater treatment for the yellow rice wine industry.

Abstract
Objective: To fabricate TiO2 nanotube material functionalized by antimicrobial peptide LL-37, and to explore its effects on biological behaviors such as adhesion and migration of human keratinocytes (HaCaT) and its antibacterial properties. Methods: The TiO2 nanotube array (NT) was constructed on the surface of polished titanium (PT) by anodization, and the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 was loaded on the surface of TiO2 nanotube (LL-37/NT) by physical adsorption. Three samples were selected by simple random sampling in each group. Surface morphology, roughness, hydrophilicity and release characteristics of LL-37 of the samples were analyzed with a field emission scanning electron microscope, an atomic force microscope, a contact angle measuring device and a microplate absorbance reader. HaCaT cells were respectively cultured on the surface of three groups of titanium samples. Each group had 3 replicates. The morphology of cell was observed by field emission scanning electron microscope. The number of cell adhesion was observed by cellular immunofluorescence staining. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was used to detect cell proliferation. Wound scratch assay was used to observe the migration of HaCaT. The above experiments were used to evaluate the effect of each group on the biological behavior of HaCaT cells. To evaluate their antibacterial effects, Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) was respectively inoculated on the surface of three groups of titanium samples. Each group had 3 replicates. The morphology of bacteria was observed by field emission scanning electron microscope. Bacterial viability was determined by live/dead bacterial staining. Results: A uniform array of nanotubes could be seen on the surface of titanium samples in LL-37/NT group, and the top of the tube was covered with granular LL-37. Compared with PT group [the roughness was (2.30±0.18) nm, the contact angle was 71.8°±1.7°], the roughness [(20.40±3.10) and (19.10±4.11) nm] and hydrophilicity (the contact angles were 22.4°±3.1° and 25.3°±2.2°, respectively) of titanium samples increased in NT and LL-37/NT group (P<0.001). The results of in vitro release test showed that the release of antimicrobial peptide LL-37 was characterized by early sudden release (1-4 h) and long-term (1-7 d) slow release. With the immunofluorescence, more cell attachment was found on NT and LL-37/NT than that on PT at the first 0.5 and 2.0 h of culture (P<0.05). The results of CCK-8 showed that there was no significant difference in the proliferation of cells among groups at 1, 3 and 5 days after culture. Wound scratch assay showed that compared with PT and NT group, the cell moved fastest on the surface of titanium samples in LL-37/NT group at 24 h of culture [(96.4±4.9)%] (F=35.55, P<0.001). A monolayer cells could be formed and filled with the scratch in 24 h at LL-37/NT group. The results of bacterial test in vitro showed that compared with the PT group, the bacterial morphology in the NT and LL-37/NT groups was significantly wrinkled, and obvious bacterial rupture could be seen on the surface of titanium samples in LL-37/NT group. The results of bacteria staining showed that the green fluorescence intensity of titanium samples in LL-37/NT group was the lowest in all groups (F=66.54,P<0.001). Conclusions: LL-37/NT is beneficial to the adhesion and migration of HaCaT cells and has excellent antibacterial properties, this provides a new strategy for the optimal design of implant neck materials.

Abstract
Ginger, an important cash crop, has been cultivated for thousands of years in China. However, comparative studies on soil bacterial communities of Chinese ginger varieties, especially after flooding, are lacking. Here, we comprehensively compared the bacterial communities of two types of ginger soils from four different locations. Surprisingly, the 100-year flood (20 July 2021, in Henan, China) did not significantly affect the soil bacterial composition compared with previous reports. In contrast, flooding may have brought in nutrients and promoted the propagation of eutrophic bacteria, and Alphaproteobacteria were the most abundant in the Zhangliang region (~25%). However, due to the most severe flooding and inundation, the Zhangliang region, also probably contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals, showed the lowest microbial diversity. Moreover, the geographical location influenced the microbial communities more than did the soil type or ginger variety. These findings help us understand the species and composition of bacteria and infection of ginger after flooding and soaking. Further, the interaction mechanisms underlying these emerging phenomena need to be further investigated. Abstract
BACKGROUND Ganoderma lucidum spore powder (GLSP) has abundant pharmacological activities. However, the difference in the hepatoprotective function of sporoderm-broken and sporoderm-unbroken Ganoderma spore powder has not been studied. This study is the first to investigate the effects of both sporoderm-damaged and sporoderm-intact GLSP on the improvement of acute alcoholic liver injury in mice and gut microbiota of mice. METHODS Serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels and interleukin 1β (IL-1β), interleukin 18 (IL-18), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels in liver tissues from mice in each group were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits, and histological analysis of liver tissue sections was performed to evaluate the liver-protecting effects of both sporoderm-broken and sporoderm-unbroken GLSP. Additionally, 16S rDNA sequencing of feces from the bowels of mice was performed to compare the regulatory effects of both sporoderm-broken and sporoderm-unbroken GLSP on the gut microbiota of mice. RESULTS Compared with those in the 50% ethanol model group (MG), sporoderm-broken GLSP significantly reduced serum AST and ALT levels (p < 0.0001) and the release of the inflammatory factors, including IL-1β, IL-18, and TNF-α (p < 0.0001), and effectively improved the pathological state of liver cells; sporoderm-unbroken GLSP significantly reduced the ALT content (p = 0.0002) and the release of the inflammatory factors, including IL-1β (p < 0.0001), IL-18 (p = 0.0018), and TNF-α (p = 0.0005), and reduced the serum AST content, but the reduction was not significant; compared with the gut microbiota of the MG, sporoderm-broken GLSP reduced the levels of Verrucomicrobia and Escherichia_Shigella, increased the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Bacteroidetes, and decreased the abundance levels of harmful bacteria, such as Proteobacteria and Candidatus_Saccharibacteria; sporoderm-unbroken GLSP could reduce the abundance levels of harmful bacteria, such as Verrucomicrobia and Candidatus_Saccharibacteria; and GLSP treatment alleviates the downregulation of the levels of translation, ribosome structure and biogenesis, and lipid transport and metabolism in liver-injured mice; Conclusions: GLSP can alleviate the imbalance of gut microbiota and improve liver injury, and the effect of sporoderm-broken GLSP is better.

Abstract
PURPOSE Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is often accompanied by cervical lymph node metastases (LNM). This study compared the diagnostic performance of fine needle aspiration (FNA), the combination of FNA and thyroglobulin measurement in the washout (FNA-Tg), and core needle biopsy(CNB) in order to determine the optimal method in detecting cervical LNM from PTC. METHODS PTC patients with suspicious cervical lymph nodes, who underwent ultrasonography-guided FNA, or CNB before surgery were retrospectively reviewed between January 2021 and April 2022. Patients' demographics, lymph node size, and results of FNA, FNA-Tg, CNB and surgical pathology were collected. Sensitivitity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), accuracy and the area under the curves (AUC) of receiver operating characteristic were obtained. RESULTS FNA-Tg had a higher AUC with a threshold of 55 ng/mL than that with a threshold of 1 ng/mL (0.782 vs. 0.636, P = 0.005). The sensitivity of the combination of FNA and FNA-Tg was higher than that of FNA alone (91.3% vs. 81.0%, P = 0.01), but it was not different from that of CNB (91.3% vs. 88.0%, P > 0.05). No significant difference was found in specificity, PPV, NPV, accuracy and AUC among FNA alone, CNB alone, and the combination of FNA and FNA-Tg. CONCLUSIONS FNA-Tg is useful to improve the sensitivity of FNA. The diagnostic performance of the combination of FNA and FNA-Tg is better than that of FNA or FNA-Tg alone, but is not different from that of CNB in detecting LNM from PTC.

Abstract
Background Breast cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has the worst prognosis. Standard systemic treatment includes chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) inhibitors are considered in breast cancer (BRCA) susceptibility genes mutated tumors. The role of antiangiogenic drugs is controversial. Immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitor is now a standard of care for TNBC in the US, but its use in combination with anlotinib, an inhibitor of angiogenesis, on TNBC cells was never investigated. Methods We tested the effects of anlotinib and programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor on the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of MDA-MB-468 and BT-549 TNBC cells through 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-Yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assays, cell apoptosis assay, wound healing and transwell matrix assays, and verified whether the combination of the two drugs had synergistic effect. Western blotting was used to detect the effect of anlotinib and PD-L1 inhibitor on the protein expression levels of PI3K, p-PI3K, AKT, p-AKT, Bcl-xl in MDA-MB-468 and BT-549 cells. The effects of anlotinib, PD-L1 inhibitor and the combination of the two drugs on the transplanted tumor of TNBC mice were tested by animal experiments. Results Anlotinib and PD-L1 inhibitor inhibited the proliferation and promote cell apoptosis of MDA-MB-468 and BT-549 cells, and the combination demonstrated the synergetic effect. Anlotinib and PD-L1 inhibitor inhibited cell migration and invasion, and the effect was strongest in the combination group. Both anlotinib and PD-L1 inhibitor reduced the expression of p-PI3K, p-AKT and Bcl-xl proteins in cells and the effects were the strongest in the combination group. Both anlotinib and PD-L1 inhibitor inhibited the growth of transplanted tumors in mice, and the combined group demonstrated the strongest growth suppression. Conclusions Anlotinib and PD-L1 inhibitor can inhibit cell proliferation, migration, and invasion of TNBC and promote cell apoptosis, and the two drugs show combined anti-tumor effects in vivo and in vitro. The combination of anlotinib and PD-L1 inhibitor may promote apoptosis of TNBC cells through PI3K/AKT/Bcl-xl signaling pathways, which might offer potential clinical treatment roles for these.

Abstract
Background The Controlled Nutritional Status (CONUT) score is a valid scoring system for assessing nutritional status and has been shown to correlate with clinical outcomes in many surgical procedures; however, no studies have reported a correlation between postoperative complications of bronchiectasis and the preoperative CONUT score. This study aimed to evaluate the value of the CONUT score in predicting postoperative complications in patients with bronchiectasis. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with localized bronchiectasis who underwent lung resection at our hospital between April 2012 and November 2021. The optimal nutritional scoring system was determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and incorporated into multivariate logistic regression. Finally, independent risk factors for postoperative complications were determined by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results A total of 240 patients with bronchiectasis were included, including 101 males and 139 females, with an average age of 49.83 ± 13.23 years. Postoperative complications occurred in 59 patients (24.6%). The incidence of complications, postoperative hospital stay and drainage tube indwelling time were significantly higher in the high CONUT group than in the low CONUT group. After adjusting for sex, BMI, smoking history, lung function, extent of resection, intraoperative blood loss, surgical approach and operation time, multivariate analysis showed that the CONUT score remained an independent risk factor for postoperative complications after bronchiectasis. Conclusions The preoperative CONUT score is an independent predictor of postoperative complications in patients with localized bronchiectasis.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the long-term outcomes of patients with unilateral vocal fold paralysis resulting in dysphonia treated with lateral vocal fold autologous fat injection. To analyze the factors that may affect the long-term efficacy of the procedure. Methods: From July 2003 to June 2020, 163 patients (86 males and 77 females), aged 9-73 years (mean (34.50±12.94) years) with unilateral vocal fold paralysis resulting in dysphonia underwent transoral laryngoscopic injection of autologous fat into the lateral vocal folds. Subjective auditory perception assessment (GRBAS scale), objective acoustic assessment, voice handicap index (VHI) evaluation and stroboscopic laryngoscopy were compared before and after the surgery. Patients were followed up for 1 to 18 years, with median follow-up time of 6 years. SPSS 22.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results: Of 163 patients, 17 patients (10.4%) had mild hoarseness (G1) and 146 patients (89.6%) had moderate to severe hoarseness (G2-3). Stroboscopic laryngoscopy revealed an arch-shaped vocal fold on the affected side, fixed in the paramedian position or abduction position, with obvious glottic closure fissure. Postoperatively, voice recovered to normal (G0) in 139 patients (85.3%), mild hoarseness (G1) in 18 patients (11.0%) and moderate hoarseness (G2) in 6 patients (3.7%). Of these, 131 patients (80.4%) showed significant improvement in hoarseness, 29 patients (17.8%) showed mild improvement and 3 patients (1.8%) showed no significant improvement in hoarseness. Objective acoustic parameters of Jitter, Shimmer, NHR and MPT improved significantly, as did VHI scores. Stroboscopic laryngoscopy showed medialization of the affected vocal folds, improved vocal fold closure and normal or nearly normal vocal fold mucosal waves. With a fat injection volume of 3.0-4.5 ml, the patient's subjective auditory perception scores of G, R, B and A improved more significantly within 3 months after surgery, and both VHI and MPT were significantly better since 1 year after surgery. With bilateral vocal fold injection, the B and A scores improved significantly from 1 month postoperatively compared to unilateral injections(unilateral vs. bilateral injection 1 month post-operation, tB scores=1.42,tA scores=1.51,P<0.05). Conclusions: The long-term efficacy of autologous fat injection in the paraglottic space for the treatment of unilateral vocal fold paralysis was stable. The efficacy of the surgery was related to the amount of fat injected, unilateral or bilateral of the injection.

Abstract
PURPOSE Maintaining an optimal thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level is important in the postoperative management of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, there is little evidence for TSH target levels in patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation (RFA). This study aimed to determine the optimal TSH level for management in low-risk patients who underwent RFA. METHODS This retrospective propensity score-matched cohort study included patients with low-risk PTC who underwent RFA from January 2014 to December 2018. The patients were categorized into two groups based on the range of TSH levels: low (≤2 mU/L) and high (>2 mU/L) TSH levels. Local tumor progression and disease-free survival (DFS) were compared between the low TSH and high TSH groups, using propensity score analyses based on patient- and tumor-level characteristics. Univariate analyses were performed to select risk factors for tumor progression. RESULTS Overall, our study included 516 patients with low-risk PTC who underwent RFA with a long-term follow-up of 5-years. During follow-up, the overall incidence rate of local tumor progression was 4.8% (25/516), with no significant difference between the matched groups (7/106 [6.6%] vs. 5/53 [9.4%], p = 0.524). DFS did not differ between the two groups (p = 0.5). Moreover, TSH level was not regarded as a significant predictor of tumor progression after Cox analysis; primary tumor size was the only relevant risk factor. CONCLUSION This large propensity-matched study revealed no association between TSH levels and tumor progression. Thus, for patients with low-risk PTC who underwent RFA, the optimalTSH level is recommended at the euthyroid range.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the prevalence and the risk factors of fungal sepsis in 25 neonatal intensive care units (NICU) among preterm infants in China, and to provide a basis for preventive strategies of fungal sepsis. Methods: This was a second-analysis of the data from the "reduction of infection in neonatal intensive care units using the evidence-based practice for improving quality" study. The current status of fungal sepsis of the 24 731 preterm infants with the gestational age of <34+0 weeks, who were admitted to 25 participating NICU within 7 days of birth between May 2015 and April 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. These preterm infants were divided into the fungal sepsis group and the without fungal sepsis group according to whether they developed fungal sepsis to analyze the incidences and the microbiology of fungal sepsis. Chi-square test was used to compare the incidences of fungal sepsis in preterm infants with different gestational ages and birth weights and in different NICU. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to study the outcomes of preterm infants with fungal sepsis, which were further compared with those of preterm infants without fungal sepsis. The 144 preterm infants in the fungal sepsis group were matched with 288 preterm infants in the non-fungal sepsis group by propensity score-matched method. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the risk factors of fungal sepsis. Results: In all, 166 (0.7%) of the 24 731 preterm infants developed fungal sepsis, with the gestational age of (29.7±2.0) weeks and the birth weight of (1 300±293) g. The incidence of fungal sepsis increased with decreasing gestational age and birth weight (both P<0.001). The preterm infants with gestational age of <32 weeks accounted for 87.3% (145/166). The incidence of fungal sepsis was 1.0% (117/11 438) in very preterm infants and 2.0% (28/1 401) in extremely preterm infants, and was 1.3% (103/8 060) in very low birth weight infants and 1.7% (21/1 211) in extremely low birth weight infants, respectively. There was no fungal sepsis in 3 NICU, and the incidences in the other 22 NICU ranged from 0.7% (10/1 397) to 2.9% (21/724), with significant statistical difference (P<0.001). The pathogens were mainly Candida (150/166, 90.4%), including 59 cases of Candida albicans and 91 cases of non-Candida albicans, of which Candida parapsilosis was the most common (41 cases). Fungal sepsis was independently associated with increased risk of moderate to severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) (adjusted OR 1.52, 95%CI 1.04-2.22, P=0.030) and severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) (adjusted OR 2.55, 95%CI 1.12-5.80, P=0.025). Previous broad spectrum antibiotics exposure (adjusted OR=2.50, 95%CI 1.50-4.17, P<0.001), prolonged use of central line (adjusted OR=1.05, 95%CI 1.03-1.08, P<0.001) and previous total parenteral nutrition (TPN) duration (adjusted OR=1.04, 95%CI 1.02-1.06, P<0.001) were all independently associated with increasing risk of fungal sepsis. Conclusions: Candida albicans and Candida parapsilosis are the main pathogens of fungal sepsis among preterm infants in Chinese NICU. Preterm infants with fungal sepsis are at increased risk of moderate to severe BPD and severe ROP. Previous broad spectrum antibiotics exposure, prolonged use of central line and prolonged duration of TPN will increase the risk of fungal sepsis. Ongoing initiatives are needed to reduce fungal sepsis based on these risk factors.

Abstract
Abnormal amino acid metabolism in neural cells is involved in the occurrence and development of major depressive disorder. Taurine is an important amino acid required for brain development. Here, microdialysis combined with metabonomic analysis revealed that the level of taurine in the extracellular fluid of the cerebral medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) was significantly reduced in mice with chronic social defeat stress (CSDS)-induced depression. Therefore, taurine supplementation may be usable an intervention for depression. We found that taurine supplementation effectively rescued immobility time during a tail suspension assay and improved social avoidance behaviors in CSDS mice. Moreover, taurine treatment protected CSDS mice from impairments in dendritic complexity, spine density, and the proportions of different types of spines. The expression of N-methyl D-aspartate receptor subunit 2A, an important synaptic receptor, was largely restored in the mPFC of these mice after taurine supplementation. These results demonstrated that taurine exerted an antidepressive effect by protecting cortical neurons from dendritic spine loss and synaptic protein deficits.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for treating locally recurrent papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). METHODS This retrospective study involved 32 patients with pathologically confirmed locally recurrent PTC. The ablation zone was assessed by contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) after RFA. At baseline, 6 and 12 months and every 6 months or 12 months thereafter, the following results were recorded: recurrence rate, largest diameter, volume, volume reduction rate (VRR) of recurrent lesions, serum thyroglobulin (Tg) level and complications. RESULTS 58 recurrent lesions in 32 patients were successfully ablated with RFA. The mean follow-up time was 73.19 ± 12.68 months (range, 60 to 98 months). At the last follow-up, almost all ablated lesions disappeared completely, and only one lesion showed scar-like changes. Nine (28.13%) patients developed new locally recurrent tumors; they were successfully treated with repeat RFA sessions. No new recurrent lesions were found during the follow-up. The largest diameter and volume of recurrent lesions decreased from 13.71 ± 6.48 mm and 520.43 ± 627.85 mm3 to 0 each at the end of observation period (p < .001). The average VRRs at 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 months and last follow-up after RFA were 54.17%, 72.90%, 82.28%, 89.30%, 92.57%, 96.60%, 96.88%, 98.14% and 100% respectively. The median of serum Tg level was decreased from 1.48 ng/mL to 0.00 ng/mL (p < .05). No complications were reported during the follow-up. CONCLUSIONS US-guided RFA is an effective and safe option for treating locally recurrent PTC in selected patients, with favorable long-term outcomes.

Abstract
Background At present, research on immunogenic cell death (ICD) is mainly associated with cancer therapy. Little is known about the role of ICD in cardiovascular disease, especially in ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms (ATAA). Method ATAA single-cell RNA (scRNA) sequencing data were analyzed to identify the involved cell types and determine their transcriptomic characteristics. The chi-square test, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses, Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA), and CellChat for cell-to-cell communication analysis from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database were used. Result A total of 10 cell types were identified, namely, monocytes, macrophages, CD4 T/NK (CD4+ T cells and natural killer T cells), mast cells, B/Plasma B cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, cytotoxic T cells (CD8+ T cells, CTLs), vascular smooth muscle cells (vSMCs), and mature dendritic cells (mDCs). A large number of inflammation-related pathways were present in the GSEA results. A large number of ICD-related pathways were found in the KEGG enrichment analysis of differentially expressed genes in endothelial cells. The number of mDCs and CTLs in the ATAA group was significantly different from that in the control group. A total of 44 pathway networks were obtained, of which 9 were associated with ICD in endothelial cells (CCL, CXCL, ANNEXIN, CD40, IL1, IL6, TNF, IFN-II, GALECTIN). The most important ligand-receptor pair by which endothelial cells act on CD4 T/NK cells, CTLs and mDCs is CXCL12-CXCR4. The most important ligand-receptor pair by which endothelial cells act on monocytes and macrophages is ANXA1-FPR1. The most important ligand-receptor pair by which CD4 T/NK cells and CTLs act on endothelial cells is CCL5-ACKR1. The most important ligand-receptor pair that myeloid cells (macrophages, monocytes and mDCs) act on endothelial cells is CXCL8-ACKR1. Moreover, vSMCs and fibroblasts mainly promote inflammatory responses through the MIF signaling pathway. Conclusion ICD is present in ATAA and plays an important role in the development of ATAA. The target cells of ICD may be mainly endothelial cells, in which the aortic endothelial cell ACKR1 receptor can not only promote T-cell infiltration through the CCL5 ligand but also promote myeloid cell infiltration through the CXCL8 ligand. ACKR1 and CXCL12 may become target genes for ATAA drug therapy in the future.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Minimally invasive therapies are gaining interest because of the indolence and excellent prognosis of low-risk papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for low-risk PTC and to determine the effects of ablation on subsequent surgical management. METHODS A medical record review was conducted including patients with low-risk PTC who underwent surgery after RFA from July 2015 to July 2021. Demographic characteristics, tumor characteristics, ablation procedures, surgical findings, and pathological changes were reviewed for all patients. The primary outcomes were surgical and pathological changes in post-ablation patients. RESULTS Of the 10 patients with 11 PTCs, 9 (90%) were women; the median (SD) patient age was 41.5 (8.2) years. The maximum diameter range of PTCs was 3.0-12.0 mm. All 10 patients underwent rigorous RFA procedure involving a four-step approach, and had received surgical management. Intraoperatively, no patients had muscle and nerve injuries, and mild adhesion of the post-ablation lesions with the anterior cervical muscle was observed in two cases. Histopathologically, no residual PTCs were observed in the ablated areas in all patients. Central lymph node metastasis (LNM) was found in three (30.0%, pN1a). Occult PTCs were observed in three cases (30.0%). CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that low-risk small PTCs can be completely treated with rigorous RFA, which does not affect subsequent surgical management, if necessary. RFA may be a treatment option, but occult PTCs and clinically negative LNMs may be overlooked. Long-term follow-up data are necessary to further identify its efficacy. KEY POINTS • RFA can completely treat low-risk small PTC. • RFA does not affect the subsequent surgical management if necessary. • Because occult PTCs and clinically negative LNMs may be overlooked by RFA, long-term follow-up data are necessary to further identify its efficacy.

Abstract
To explore the causal pathogen and the correlated rhizosphere soil microecology of sugarcane root rot, we sampled the sugarcane root materials displaying different disease severity, and the corresponding rhizosphere soil, for systematic root phenotype and microbial population analyses. We found that with increased level of disease severity reflected by above-ground parts of sugarcane, the total root length, total root surface area and total volume were significantly reduced, accompanied with changes in the microbial population diversity and structure in rhizosphere soil. Fungal community richness was significantly lower in the rhizosphere soil samples from mildly diseased plant than that from either healthy plant, or severely diseased plant. Particularly, we noticed that a peculiar decrease of potential pathogenic fungi in rhizosphere soil, including genera Fusarium, Talaromyces and Neocosmospora, with increased level of disease severity. As for bacterial community, Firmicutes was found to be of the highest level, while Acidobacteria and Chloroflexi of the lowest level, in rhizosphere soil from healthy plant compared to that from diseased plant of different severity. FUNGuild prediction showed that the proportion of saprophytic fungi was higher in the rhizosphere soil of healthy plants, while the proportion of pathogenic fungi was higher in the rhizosphere soil of diseased plants. By co-occurrence network analysis we demonstrated the Bacillus and Burkholderia were in a strong interaction with Fusarium pathogen(s). Consistently, the biocontrol and/or growth-promoting bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere soil were mostly (6 out of 7) belonging to Bacillus and Burkholderia species. By confrontation culture and pot experiments, we verified the biocontrol and/or growth-promoting property of the isolated bacterial strains. Overall, we demonstrated a clear correlation between sugarcane root rot severity and rhizosphere soil microbiome composition and function, and identified several promising biocontrol bacteria strains with strong disease suppression effect and growth-promoting properties.

Abstract
Particulate cadmium (Cd) and zinc (Zn) are ubiquitous in agricultural soils of Pb-Zn mining regions. Water management serves as an important agronomic measure altering the bioavailability of Zn and Cd in soils, but how this affects particulate Cd and Zn and the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Microcosm soil incubation combined with spectroscopic and microscopic characterization was conducted. During a two-year-long incubation period we observed that the concentrations of soil CaCl2-extractable Zn and Cd increased 3-10 times in sphalerite-spiked soils and 1-2 times in smithsonite-spiked soils under periodic flooding conditions due to the long-term dissolution of sphalerite (SP) and smithsonite (SM). However, the increase in the concentration of CaCl2-extractable metals (Zn: from 0.607 mg kg-1 to 1.051 mg kg-1 and Cd: from 0.047 mg kg-1 to 0.119 mg kg-1) was found only in SP-treatment under continuous flooding conditions, indicating the mobilization of metals. Ultrafiltration analysis shows that the nanoparticulate fraction of Zn and Cd in soil pore water increased 5 and 7 times in SP-treatments under continuous flooding conditions, suggesting the increment of metal pools in soil pore water. HRTEM-EDX-SAED further reveals that these nanoparticles were mainly crystalline ZnS and Zn-bearing sulfate nanoparticles in the SP-treatment and amorphous ZnCO3 and ZnS nanoparticles in the SM-treatment. Therefore, the formation of the stable crystalline Zn-bearing nanoparticles in the SP-treatment may explain the elevation of the concentration of soil CaCl2-extractable Zn and Cd under continuous flooding. The potential mobility of particulate metals should therefore be expected in scenarios of continuous flooding such as paddy soils and wetland systems.

Abstract
Two triterpenes, ganoaustralins A (1) and B (2), featuring unprecedented 6/6/6/5/6 scaffolds were isolated from the fruiting bodies of the mushroom Ganoderma australe. The structures were determined by extensive NMR and HRESIMS spectroscopic analysis. The absolute configuration of the C-25 in ganoaustralin A was assigned by the phenylglycine methyl ester (PGME) method. The relative and absolute configurations of the polycyclic backbones were determined by NMR and ECD calculations, respectively. The plausible biosynthetic pathways of ganoaustralins A and B were proposed. Ganoaustralin B showed weak inhibition against β-secretase 1.

Abstract
There is increasing focus on applying deep learning methods to electrocardiograms (ECGs), with recent studies showing that neural networks (NNs) can predict future heart failure or atrial fibrillation from the ECG alone. However, large numbers of ECGs are needed to train NNs, and many ECGs are currently only in paper format, which are not suitable for NN training. We developed a fully-automated online ECG digitisation tool to convert scanned paper ECGs into digital signals. Using automated horizontal and vertical anchor point detection, the algorithm automatically segments the ECG image into separate images for the 12 leads and a dynamical morphological algorithm is then applied to extract the signal of interest. We then validated the performance of the algorithm on 515 digital ECGs, of which 45 were printed, scanned and redigitised. The automated digitisation tool achieved 99.0% correlation between the digitised signals and the ground truth ECG (n = 515 standard 3-by-4 ECGs) after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the performance of average correlation was from 90 to 97% across the leads on all 3-by-4 ECGs. There was a 97% correlation for 12-by-1 and 3-by-1 ECG formats after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the average correlation of some leads in 12-by-1 ECGs was 60-70% and the average correlation of 3-by-1 ECGs achieved 80-90%. ECGs that were printed, scanned, and redigitised, our tool achieved 96% correlation with the original signals. We have developed and validated a fully-automated, user-friendly, online ECG digitisation tool. Unlike other available tools, this does not require any manual segmentation of ECG signals. Our tool can facilitate the rapid and automated digitisation of large repositories of paper ECGs to allow them to be used for deep learning projects.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Studies focusing on catheter removal and the pathogenic spectrum of peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis (PDAP) need to be updated. METHODS Data were collected from four peritoneal dialysis (PD) centers. Peritonitis rates were compared using Poisson regression and Logistic regression was used to examine the risk factors for catheter removal. RESULTS The PD duration (odds ratio [OR], 1.021; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.010-1.032), number of previous PDAP episodes (OR, 1.267; 95% CI, 1.039-1.545), dialysate white cell count >100 × 106 /L on Day 5 of PDAP (OR, 6.088; 95% CI, 3.277-11.312), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (OR, 4.122; 95% CI, 1.071-15.874) and polymicrobial infections (OR, 3.257; 95% CI, 1.519-6.982) were independent predictors of catheter removal (p < 0.05). The prevalence of polymicrobial peritonitis and fungal peritonitis has increased (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Attention should be paid to patients with long PD duration or a history of previous episodes of PDAP characteristics.

Abstract
Chemical weathering of carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn mines via acid-promoted or oxidative dissolution generates metal-bearing colloids at neutral mine drainage sites. However, the mobility and bioavailability of the colloids associated with metals in nearby soils are unknown. Here, we monitored the mobility of metal(loid)s in soils affected by aeolian deposition and river transport in the vicinity of a carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn mine. Using chemical extraction, ultrafiltration, and microscopic and spectroscopic analysis of metals we find that contamination levels of the soil metals cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) were negatively correlated with metal extractability. However, nano-scale characterization indicates that colloid-metal(loid) interactions induced potential mobilization and increased risk from metal(loid)s. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and HRTEM-EDX-SAED analysis further indicate that organic matter (OM)-rich nano-colloids associated with calcium (Ca), silicon (Si) and iron (Fe) precipitates accounted for the majority of the dissolved metal fractions in carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn mine soils. More stable nano-crystals (ZnS, ZnCO3, Zn-bearing sulfates, hematite and Al-Si-Fe compounds) were present in the pore water of aeolian-impacted upland soils rather than in river water-impacted soils. Our results suggest that future work should consider the possibility that potential mobilization of metal(loid)s induced by the weathering and transformation of these metal-bearing nano-crystals to metal-bearing amorphous colloids, potentially elevating metal mobility and/or bioavailability in river water-impacted agricultural soils.

Abstract
Lightweight, thin, large-area, and ultraflexible chemical-cross-linked MXene/superaligned carbon nanotube composite films with a bicontinuous structure are manufactured. The films exhibit high mechanical strength, good electrical conductivity, hydrophobicity, and oxidation stability, as well as wearable multifunctionalities involving electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, electrothermal conversion, and photothermal antibacterial performance. An X-band EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) of 24 to 70 dB at the thickness of 8 to 28 μm and an SE of more than 60 dB in ultrabroadband frequency range of 8.2-40 GHz are accomplished. A surface specific SE of 122 368 dB·cm2·g-1 is achieved, significantly outperforming other typical shields reported. The good electro-/photothermal performance of the films leads to high-efficiency deicing and antibacterial performance. Combined with the efficient and scalable manufacturing approach, the multifunctional wearable bicontinuous films show great potential for applications in wearable devices, defense, antibacterials, and the Internet of Things.

Abstract
Tooth resorption is an idiopathic destructive disease of dental hard tissues. The etiology and pathogenesis remain obscure. It has various manifestations and can be commonly classified as internal tooth resorption and external root resorption on the basis of the resorptive lesion sites. There have been many attempts to make further classification based upon the pathological manifestations in recent years. Radiographic examination is an effective tool to assist in the diagnosis. There are few systematic researches on tooth resorption worldwide, most of which are case reports. This review elaborates on the research progress of tooth resorption from aspects of pathogenesis and classification.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the characteristics of low pathogenic H3, H4 and H6 subtypes of avian influenza viruses in environment related avian influenza viruses in China from 2014 to 2021. Methods: Surveillance sites were located in 31 provinces, autonomous region and municipalities to collect environmental samples related to avian influenza, detect the nucleic acid detection of influenza A virus, isolate virus, deeply sequence, analyze pathogenicity related molecular sites, and determine the distribution and variation characteristics of common H3, H4 and H6 subtypes of avian influenza virus in different regions, places and sample types. Results: A total of 388 645 samples were collected. The positive rate of low pathogenic H3 (0.56‰) and H6 (0.53‰) was higher than that of H4 (0.09‰). The positive rate of H4 subtype virus in live poultry market was higher than that in other places, and the difference was statistically significant. The positive rate of H3 and H6 subtypes in sewage samples was higher than that in other samples, and the difference was statistically significant. The positive rate of H3, H4 and H6 viruses in the south was higher than that in the north, and the difference was statistically significant. December was the most active time for virus. The analysis of pathogenicity related molecular sites showed that H3, H4 and H6 subtypes of viruses combined with avian influenza virus receptors, and some gene sites related to increased pathogenicity had mutations. Conclusion: The H3, H4 and H6 subtypes of low pathogenic avian influenza viruses have a high isolation positive rate in the live poultry market and sewage. The distribution of the three subtypes of viruses has obvious regional and seasonal characteristics, and the genetic characteristics still show the feature of low pathogenic avian influenza.

Abstract
Colistin is an important antimicrobial agent in the treatment of infections caused by multidrug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria. The horizontal transfer of mobile colistin resistance gene (mcr) poses a major threat to the public health worldwide. In this study, a total of thirteen mcr-carrying Escherichia coli (MCREC) strains were recovered from a tertiary hospital in Zhejiang, China, between 2016 and 2019. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of antimicrobial agents, epidemiological characteristics, and transmission dynamics of mcr-carrying isolates were analyzed using antimicrobial susceptibility testing, whole-genome sequencing, S1 nuclease pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (S1-PFGE), and southern blotting analysis. All strains were discovered to be resistant to colistin, and the majority displayed MDR phenotype. However, none of the 13 MCREC strains were resistant to carbapenems. The 13 MCREC isolates were divided into 10 different STs, including ST744, ST156, ST453, ST410, ST57, ST131, ST7034, ST2599, ST457, and ST13239, in which ST13239 was discovered for the first time. Based on core genome single nucleotide polymorphism (cgSNP) analysis, no clear epidemiological link was discovered in these strains with the exception of EC2118 and EC3807, which differ by just one SNP. A total of 35 antimicrobial resistance genes which can be divided into 14 classes were identified from the 13 MCREC isolates. According to S1-PFGE and southern blotting analyses, all 13 MCREC strains had plasmid-mediated mcr-1, and nine of them carried conjugative plasmids. In conclusion, our study revealed the emergence and dissemination of colistin-resistant E. coli isolates carrying mcr-1 in a Chinese hospital, which poses a potential risk to anti-infective therapy. More efforts should be taken to monitor the prevalence of mcr-1-carrying bacteria in China.

Abstract
The rapid improvement in the gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) with high ionic conductivity brought it closer to practical applications in solid-state Li-metal batteries. The combination of solvent and polymer enables quasi-liquid fast ion transport in the GPEs. However, different ion transport capacity between solvent and polymer will cause local nonuniform Li+ distribution, leading to severe dendrite growth. In addition, the poor thermal stability of the solvent also limits the operating-temperature window of the electrolytes. Optimizing the ion transport environment and enhancing the thermal stability are two major challenges that hinder the application of GPEs. Here, a strategy by introducing ion-conducting arrays (ICA) is created by vertical-aligned montmorillonite into GPE. Rapid ion transport on the ICA was demonstrated by 6Li solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance and synchrotron X-ray diffraction, combined with computer simulations to visualize the transport process. Compared with conventional randomly dispersed fillers, ICA provides continuous interfaces to regulate the ion transport environment and enhances the tolerance of GPEs to extreme temperatures. Therefore, GPE/ICA exhibits high room-temperature ionic conductivity (1.08 mS cm-1) and long-term stable Li deposition/stripping cycles (> 1000 h). As a final proof, Li||GPE/ICA||LiFePO4 cells exhibit excellent cycle performance at wide temperature range (from 0 to 60 °C), which shows a promising path toward all-weather practical solid-state batteries.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the association between high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level and new-onset hypertension in different age groups. Methods: This was a prospective cohort study involving non-hypertensive population in Kailuan Group community who participated in health examination between 2006 and 2007.Follow-up was conducted every 2 years, and the time of new onset of hypertension was used as the endpoint of follow-up. The endtime of follow-up for patients without hypertension was the time of death or the last follow-up (December 31, 2017).According to the baseline hsCRP level, the participants were divided into low-risk group (hsCRP<1.0 mg/L), medium-risk group (hsCRP ≥1.0 and ≤3.0 mg/L), and high-risk group (hsCRP>3.0 mg/L), and further stratified by age. Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate the cumulative incidence of hypertension in each group. Multivariate Cox regression model was used to analyze the association between hsCRP level and new-onset hypertension. Results: A total of 51 179 participants were included in this study, including 38 606 males (75.43%) with an average age of (48.1±12.2) years. The baseline hsCRP was 0.64 (0.25, 1.60) mg/L. The baseline hsCRP was 0.30 (0.16, 0.59), 1.57 (1.20, 2.10), 5.17 (3.80, 7.10) mg/L respectively in low-, medium- and high-risk groups. During the follow-up of (8.1±2.2) years, a total of 9 523 (18.60%) patients developed hypertension, and the cumulative incidence rates of low-, medium- and high-risk groups were 17.41%, 20.48% and 20.73%, respectively. The cumulative incidence of hypertension in low-, medium- and high-risk groups of<45, 45-54, 55-64, ≥65 years old were 13.53%, 15.82%, 16.76%; 19.27%, 22.84%, 21.62%; 21.55%, 24.19%, 24.88%;20.20%, 22.35%, 19.11%, respectively. Except for people aged ≥65 years, there were significant differences in the cumulative incidence of hypertension in low-, medium- and high-risk groups (all P<0.05).Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the risk of new-onset hypertension in the high risk group was 1.11 times higher than that in the low risk group (HR=1.11, 95%CI 1.05-1.18). The risk of new-onset hypertension in the high-risk group was 1.22 times (HR=1.22, 95%CI 1.08-1.38), 1.14 times (HR=1.14, 95%CI 1.04-1.26), 1.16 times (HR=1.16, 95%CI 1.04-1.30), and 1.02 times (HR=1.02, 95%CI 0.86-1.20) of the low-risk group, in the<45, 45-54, 55-64, and ≥65 years old groups, respectively. Conclusion: Higher hsCRP level is a risk factor for new-onset hypertension, and the risk of developing hypertension caused by elevated hsCRP is age-dependent.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) caused by Chlamydia psittaci pneumonia. Methods: From June 2016 to January 2021, 10 cases were diagnosed as severe Chlamydia psittaci pneumonia induced ARDS in Intensive Care Unit of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Department (RICU) of Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University. We collected the clinical data including clinical features, laboratory tests, imaging and outcomes of the patients. Results: The pathogenic diagnosis was confirmed by metagenomic Next-generation Sequencing (mNGS) in these 10 patients, with a median age of 59 (46, 67) years. In addition to high fever, cough and dyspnea, the patients also had multiple organ involvement. Six patients had elevated peripheral leukocyte count, 10 cases had increased type B natriuretic peptide, 7 cases had increased aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase, 9 cases had hyponatremia and 3 cases had elevated creatinine. The imaging findings were bilateral consolidation with air bronchogram and infiltrates, and pleural effusion were found in 5 cases. All cases were combined with respiratory failure. Six patients received invasive mechanical ventilation. Nine patients received moxifloxacin and one patient was administrated with Azithromycin. All the patients were improved and discharged after the treatment, and the mean duration of RICU stay was 13.5 (11, 16.7) days. One month follow-up of nine patients showed significant improvement in lung lesions. Conclusions: Severe Chlamydia psittiaci pneumonia may be complicated with respiratory failure and/or multiple organ involvement. For severe pneumonia with an exposure history of sick birds, the possibility of Chlamydia psittaci infection should be considered. mNGS may help etiological diagnosis. All patients in this study had a good prognosis after targeted treatment.

Dysregulation of prefrontal parvalbumin interneurons leads to adult aggression induced by social isolation stress during adolescence. Front Mol Neurosci 2022; 15:1010152. Abstract
Social isolation during the juvenile stage results in structural and functional impairment of the brain and deviant adult aggression. However, the specific subregions and cell types that underpin this deviant behavior are still largely unknown. Here, we found that adolescent social isolation led to a shortened latency to attack onset and extended the average attack time, accompanied by anxiety-like behavior and deficits in social preference in adult mice. However, when exposed to social isolation during adulthood, the mice did not show these phenotypes. We also found that the structural plasticity of prefrontal pyramidal neurons, including the dendritic complexity and spine ratio, was impaired in mice exposed to adolescent social isolation. The parvalbumin (PV) interneurons in the prefrontal infralimbic cortex (IL) are highly vulnerable to juvenile social isolation and exhibit decreased cell numbers and reduced activation in adulthood. Moreover, chemogenetic inactivation of IL-PV interneurons can mimic juvenile social isolation-induced deviant aggression and social preference. Conversely, artificial activation of IL-PV interneurons significantly attenuated deviant aggression and rescued social preference during adulthood in mice exposed to adolescent social isolation. These findings implicate juvenile social isolation-induced damage to IL-PV interneurons in long-term aggressive behavior in adulthood.
