Abstract
The fruits of Lycium barbarum have a long history as an edible and medicinal food in Asian regions and have multiple consumption methods; the polysaccharides (LBPs) are commonly considered as their major immunological constituents. The current study revealed that the total phenolic amide moieties from L. barbarum fruits showed greater potential immunomodulatory activity in vivo than did LBPs. Through subsequent investigation on the immunological bioactive phenolic amides, three new phenolic amides, lyciumamides L-N (1-3), as well as 12 analogues, were obtained from the total phenolic amide fraction. Extensive spectroscopic methods were used to elucidate the new structures. Compounds 4-6 and 15 significantly promoted LPS-stimulated B splenocyte, while compounds 4-6 displayed accelerative effects on the proliferation of Con A-stimulated T lymphocytes at a concentration of 20.0 μg/mL. These data indicated that extracts from L. barbarum fruits enriched with phenolic amides could be developed as a nutritional dietary supplement for immunocompromised individuals.

Abstract
Gastric cancer is a common type of malignant tumor. Recently, a growing number of clinical researches initiated by investigators have provided valuable evidence for clinical practice. Here we review the perioperative treatment of locally advanced gastric cancer, and summarize the optimization of neoadjuvant treatment regimens, the exploration of new combinational treatment models and new adjuvant chemotherapy schemes, and the changes in the status of chemoradiotherapy in adjuvant therapy. At the same time, for the comprehensive treatment of advanced gastric cancer, the advances in the optimization of first-line chemotherapy regimens, emerging immunotherapy and targeted therapy are reviewed as well. Gastric cancer is a highly heterogeneous tumor. For further development of precision medicine represented by targeted therapy and immunotherapy, genetic testing-guided precise molecular subtyping will be the direction.

Abstract
The electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) is a very efficient method for sustainable NH3 production, but it requires effective catalysts to expedite the NRR kinetics and inhibit the concomitant hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Two-dimensional (2D)/2D interface engineering is an effective method to design powerful catalysts due to intimate face-to-face contact of two 2D materials that facilitates the strong interfacial electronic interactions. Herein, we explored a 2D/2D MoS2/C3N4 heterostructure as an active and stable NRR catalyst. MoS2/C3N4 exhibited a conspicuously improved NRR performance with an NH3 yield of 18.5 μg h-1 mg-1 and a high Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 17.8% at -0.3 V, far better than those of the individual MoS2 or C3N4 component. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the interfacial charge transport from C3N4 to MoS2 could enhance the NRR activity of MoS2/C3N4 by promoting the stabilization of the key intermediate *N2H on Mo edge sites of MoS2 and concurrently decreasing the reaction energy barrier. Meanwhile, MoS2/C3N4 rendered a more favorable *H adsorption free energy on S edge sites than on Mo edge sites of MoS2, thereby protecting the NRR-active Mo edge sites from the competing HER and leading to a high FE.

Abstract
The Nanxiaohegou basin is a typical watershed in the gully region of the Loess Plateau, China. The stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen and the hydrochemistry of the surface water and groundwater in the region were characterized in this study. The interaction between the surface water and groundwater in the region was demonstrated based on stable isotopes and hydrochemical methods. Results show that the δD and δ18O values of precipitation change according to the seasons with high values in spring and summer and low values in autumn and winter. The δD and δ18O values of the reservoir water are higher in summer and autumn, while they are lower in the winter and spring. The seasonal variation of δD and δ18O in groundwater is not significant. The surface water and groundwater in the watershed mainly belong to Na·Mg-HCO3-type water. The hydraulic conductivity of surface water and groundwater is characterized by high values in winter and low values in summer. Results on stable isotopes and hydrochemistry indicate that local precipitation and deep groundwater may be the main recharge sources of surface water (reservoir water, channel water) and spring water in the Nanxiaohegou basin. The perennial spring in the basin may be mainly replenished by deep groundwater, while seasonal springs are replenished by deep groundwater and local precipitation, such as the springs of Dongzhuanggou and Yangjiagou sub-basins. This study provides a greater understanding of the hydrological processes in the gully region of the Loess Plateau.

Abstract
We investigate the quasiparticle dynamics in the prototypical heavy fermion CeCoIn_{5} using ultrafast optical pump-probe spectroscopy. Our results indicate that this material system undergoes hybridization fluctuations before the establishment of heavy electron coherence, as the temperature decreases from ∼120 K (T^{†}) to ∼55 K (T^{*}). We reveal that the anomalous coherent phonon softening and damping reduction below T^{*} are directly associated with the emergence of collective hybridization. We also discover a distinct collective mode with an energy of ∼8 meV, which may be experimental evidence of the predicted unconventional density wave. Our findings provide important information for understanding the hybridization dynamics in heavy fermion systems.

Abstract
Weyl semimetals host chiral fermions with distinct chiralities and spin textures. Optical excitations involving those chiral fermions can induce exotic carrier responses, and in turn lead to novel optical phenomena. Here, we discover strong coherent terahertz emission from Weyl semimetal TaAs, which is demonstrated as a unique broadband source of the chiral terahertz wave. The polarization control of the THz emission is achieved by tuning photoexcitation of ultrafast photocurrents via the photogalvanic effect. In the near-infrared regime, the photon-energy dependent nonthermal current due to the predominant circular photogalvanic effect can be attributed to the radical change of the band velocities when the chiral Weyl fermions are excited during selective optical transitions between the tilted anisotropic Weyl cones and the massive bulk bands. Our findings provide a design concept for creating chiral photon sources using quantum materials and open up new opportunities for developing ultrafast opto-electronics using Weyl physics.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the consistency of ALK Ventana-D5F3 immunohistochemistry (IHC) interpretation in Chinese lung adenocarcinoma among histopathologists from different hospitals, and to recommend solution for the problems found during the interpretation of ALK IHC in real world, with the aim of the precise selection of patients who can benefit from ALK targeted therapy. Methods: This was a multicenter and retrospective study. A total of 109 lung adenocarcinoma cases with ALK Ventana-D5F3 IHC staining were collected from 31 lung cancer centers in RATICAL research group from January to June in 2018. All cases were scanned into digital imaging with Ventana iSCANcoreo Digital Slide Scanning System and scored by 31 histopathologists from different centers according to ALK binary (positive or negative) interpretation based on its manufacturer's protocol. The cases with high inconsistency rate were further analyzed using FISH/RT-PCR/NGS. Results: There were 49 ALK positive cases and 60 ALK negative cases, confirmed by re-evaluation by the specialist panel. Two cases (No. 2302 and No.2701) scored as positive by local hospitals were rescored as negative, and were confirmed to be negative by RT-PCR/FISH/NGS. The false interpretation rate of these two cases was 58.1% (18/31) and 48.4% (15/31), respectively. Six out of 31 (19.4%) pathologists got 100% accuracy. The minimum consistency between every two pathologists was 75.8%.At least one pathologist gave negative judgement (false negative) or positive judgement (false positive) in the 49 positive or 60 negative cases, accounted for 26.5% (13/49), 41.7% (25/60), respectively, with at least one uncertainty interpretation accounted for 31.2% (34/109). Conclusion: There are certain heterogeneities and misclassifications in the real world interpretation of ALK-D5F3 IHC test, which need to be guided by the oncoming expert consensus based on the real world data.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Veratrum taliense is traditionally used TCMs in Yunnan province of China for pain and inflammation. Previous research and clinical applications have shown that V. taliense had significant analgesic activity. Jevine-type alkaloids were shown to be one of the anti-inflammatory and analgesic agents from V. taliense. However, other types of compounds from V. taliense related to its traditional use remains unknown. AIM OF THE STUDY To identify veratramine-type steroidal alkaloids with analgesic effects from the roots and rhizomes of V. taliense. MATERIALS AND METHODS Compounds were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of V. taliense by chromatographic separation. Their structures were elucidated based on UV, IR, NMR and MS spectra data. Analgesic activity was assessed with acetic acid-induced writhing in mice model. RESULTS Seven new veratramine-type alkaloids were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of V. taliense. They all exhibited significant analgesic activity, of which alkaloids 1 and 4 were more potent antalgic than the well-known analgesic drug, pethidine. CONCLUSIONS The veratramine-type alkaloids from V. taliense may serve as new leads for the discovery of analgesic drugs.

Abstract
Objective: To validate whether the prognostic stage groups by the 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system provides improved prognostic accuracy in T1-2N1M0 postmastectomy breast cancer patients compared to 7th edition. Methods: a total of 1 823 female patients with T1-2N1M0 breast cancer who underwent mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection without neoadjuvant chemotherapy were analyzed and restaged according to 8th edition. Univariate analysis of prognostic factors was evaluated by using log-rank test. Multivariate analysis was estimated by using the Cox proportional hazards model. The prognostic accuracy of the two staging systems was compared using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses and the concordance index (C-index). Results: 5-year locoregional recurrence rate (LRR) for the whole group was 6.0%, 5-year distant metastasis (DM) rate was 11.5%, 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) was 85.0%, and 5-year overall survival (OS) was 93.1%. Cox analysis showed that 7th edition of the AJCC staging system and progesterone receptor status were independent risk factors for LRR, DM, DFS and OS (P<0.05). Compared with stage by 7th edition, 1 278(70.1%) were assigned to a different prognostic stage group: 1 088 (85.1%) to a lower stage and 190 (14.9%) to a higher stage. LRR, DM, DFS and OS were significantly different between prognostic stage ⅠA, ⅠB, ⅡA, ⅡB and ⅢA according to 8th edition of the AJCC staging system(P<0.001). Prognostic stage had significantly higher C-indexes and provided better estimation of prognosis compared to stage by 7th edition of the AJCC staging system (P<0.001). Conclusion: The prognostic stage groups of 8th edition AJCC staging system has superior prognostic accuracy compared to 7th edition in T1-2N1M0 breast cancer, and has better clinical therapeutic guidance value.

Abstract
Electrocatalytic N2 reduction reaction (NRR) provides an effective and renewable approach for artificial NH3 production, but still remains a grand challenge because of the low NH3 yield and Faradaic efficiency (FE). Herein, we reported that the SnO2 quantum dots (QDs) supported on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) could efficiently and stably catalyze NRR at ambient conditions. The NRR performance of resulting SnO2/RGO was studied by both experimental techniques and density functional theory calculations. It was found that the ultrasmall SnO2 QDs (2 nm) grown on RGO could provide abundant sites for efficient N2 adsorption. Significantly, the strongly electronically coupled SnO2 QDs and RGO brought about the enhanced conductivity and the decreased work function, which led to a considerably lowered energy barrier of *N2 → *N2H that was the rate-determining step of the NRR process. Meanwhile, the SnO2/RGO exhibited inferior hydrogen evolution reaction activity. As a result, the SnO2/RGO delivered a high NH3 yield of 25.6 μg h-1 mg-1 (5.1 μg cm-2h-1) and an FE of 7.1% in 0.1 M Na2SO4 at -0.5 V (vs RHE), together with the outstanding selectivity and stability, endowing it as a promising electrocatalyst for N2 fixation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND High tumor mutational burden (TMB-H) is correlated with enhanced objective response rate (ORR) and progression-free survival (PFS) for certain cancers receiving immunotherapy. This study aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of toripalimab, a humanized programmed death-1 (PD-1) antibody, in advanced gastric cancer (AGC), and the predictive survival benefit of TMB and PD-L1. PATIENTS AND METHODS We reported on the AGC cohort of phase Ib/II trial evaluating the safety and activity of toripalimab in patients with AGC, oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. In cohort 1, 58 chemo-refractory AGC patients received toripalimab (3 mg/kg d1, Q2W) as a monotherapy. In cohort 2, 18 chemotherapy-naive AGC patients received toripalimab (360 mg d1, Q3W) with oxaliplatin 130 mg/m2 qd, d1, capecitabine 1000 mg/m2 b.i.d., d1-d14, Q3W as first-line treatment. Primary end point was ORR. Biomarkers such as PD-L1 and TMB were evaluated for correlation with clinical efficacy. RESULTS In cohort 1, the ORR was 12.1% and the disease control rate (DCR) was 39.7%. Median PFS was 1.9 months and median OS was 4.8 months. The TMB-H group showed significant superior OS than the TMB-L group [14.6 versus 4.0 months, HR = 0.48 (96% CI 0.24-0.96), P = 0.038], while PD-L1 overexpression did not correlate with significant survival benefit. A 77.6% of patients experienced at least one treatment-related adverse event (TRAE), and 22.4% of patients experienced a grade 3 or higher TRAE. In cohort 2, the ORR was 66.7% and the DCR was 88.9%. A 94.4% of patients experienced at least one TRAE and 38.9% of patients experienced grade 3 or higher TRAEs. CONCLUSIONS Toripalimab has demonstrated a manageable safety profile and promising antitumor activity in AGC patients, especially in combination with XELOX. High TMB may be a predictive marker for OS of AGC patients receiving toripalimab as a single agent. TRIAL REGISTRATION ClinicalTrials.gov NCT02915432.

Abstract
Objective:To determine whether the preoperative results of glycerol test of electrocochleography and hearing stage have a prognostic value on the effects of endolymphatic sac decompression surgery in patients with unilateral Meniere's disease. Method:A retrospective study was conducted of 58 unilateral Meniere's disease patients who underwent endolymphatic sac decompression surgery. The correlation between the preoperative results of glycerol test of electrocochleography, hearing stage and vertigo control was analyzed by Kendall test. Result:Patients in the positive glycerol test of electrocochleography group had better vertigo control after the decompression of the lymphatic sac than the negative group(P=0.029). Preoperative hearing staging was significantly associated with vertigo control after endolymphatic sac decompression(P=0.028). The better the preoperative hearing, the higher the control rate of vertigo after endolymphatic sac decompression. The stage Ⅰ patients were 91.7%, the stage Ⅱ patients were 78.1%, and the third stage Ⅲ patients were 57.1%, respectively. Conclusion:Our findings suggested that the positive preoperative results of glycerol test of electrocochleography and better hearing stage may indicate a better effects of endolymphatic sac decompression surgery in patients with unilateral Meniere's disease.

Abstract
Citrus grandis (L.) Osbeck is a popular fruit cultivated around the world, and its peels are sometimes used for the treatment of cough, abdominal pain, and indigestion in China. However, the peel is discarded after fruit consumption in most cases, and its chemical constituents and biological activities have not been validated before. The present study focused on evaluation of the chemical and pharmacological profile of coumarins from peels of C. grandis against inflammation. The extracts and phytochemicals from peels of C. grandis were prepared, and anti-inflammatory activities were carried out in vivo and in vitro, including inhibiting xylene-induced ear edema and carrageenan-induced paw edema in mice and the production of inflammatory cytokines (interleukin 1β, prostaglandin 2, and tumor-necrosis factor α) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 cells. Results indicated that methanolic extract, ethyl acetate fraction, and four major coumarins (compounds 7, 8, 13, and 16) inhibited swelling induced by xylene and carrageenan, separately, in vivo. Furthermore, 18 coumarins inhibited inflammatory factor secretion in macrophages primed by LPS, in which compounds 4, 6, 7, 10, 17 showed the most pronounced change, which were comparable to dexamethasone. In summary, peel of C. grandis showed an anti-inflammatory effect and coumarin compounds were responsible for regulating inflammatory mediators and cytokines, which might provide a novel nutritional strategy for inflammatory diseases.

Abstract
At the present day, curettage and periodontal surgery comprise the main strategy for the treatment of periodontitis, however, these methods are limited in regenerating cementum. It has been found that some biological factors such asenamel matrix derivative (EMD), transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF) could promote cementum regeneration. In the cementum regenerationstudies, there has been a lack of criteria to distinguish cementum from alveolar bone and other types of cementum. Therefore, this article will briefly review the biological factors that affect the cementum regeneration and the molecular markers used to judge the regenerating cementum.

Abstract
Brain-derived neurotropic factor (BDNF) deficiency in Schwann cells plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Little is known about the mechanism involved in BDNF downregulation in Schwann cells in DPN. In this study, we first confirmed downregulation of BDNF and neurotrophin 3 expression in the sciatic nerves of diabetic mice, which was accompanied by myelin sheath abnormalities. Moreover, in vitro, high glucose was revealed to cause downregulation of BDNF, but not neurotrophin 3, expression in RSC96 cells, which was accompanied by DNA hypermethylation of BDNF promoters I and II. DNMT1 was subsequently revealed to be enhanced at the mRNA and protein levels in high glucose-stimulated RSC96 cells, and inhibition of DNMT1 with 5-Aza treatment or shRNA vector transfection reversed high glucose-induced reductions in BDNF expression. Furthermore, the mTOR and upstream Akt pathways were indicated to mediate high glucose-induced DNMT1 and BDNF expression in RSC96 cells. Taken together, our results suggest that the Akt/mTOR cascade mediates high glucose-induced reductions in BDNF via DNMT1 in Schwann cells in DPN.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical and prognostic differences between primary nasopharyngeal natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma (NP NKTCL) and extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma of the nasal cavity with nasopharynx extension (N-NP NKTCL). Methods: A total of 89 patients with NP NKTCL and 113 patients with N-NP NKTCL from January 2000 to June 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical and pathological features, treatment responses and prognosis were compared between the two groups. Results: NP NKTCL patients showed similar clinicopathological features with those with N-NP NKTCL, except that the former had a relative low proportion of elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels (28.1% vs. 41.6%; P=0.001). Both of two groups presented with high proportion of cervical lymph node involvement (55.1% and 42.5%; P=0.076). The 5-year overall survival (OS) rates in these two groups were 63.2% and 54.6%, respectively, whereas 5-year progress-free survival (PFS) rates were 50.7% and 45.6%, respectively. For the patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ, the 5-year OS and PFS rates in these two groups were 68.8% and 55.7% as well as 55.6% and 47.2%, respectively. These were no statistically significant differences between two groups (all P>0.05). The complete response (CR) rate after initial chemotherapy in NP NKTCL group was 43.8%, which was significant higher than that of 19.6% in N-NP NKTCL group (P=0.006). Additionally, the CR rate after primary radiotherapy was 63.4% and 62.7%, respectively (P=0.629). The NP NKTCL patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ who accepted radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy had similar survival times with chemotherapy alone, showing the 5-year OS rates of 70.5% and 33.3% (P=0.238), as well as the 5-year PFS rates of 56.7% and 33.3%, respectively (P=0.431). Similar results were found in N-NP NKTCL group, the 5-year OS rates for patients with radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy and chemotherapy alone were 57.4% and 33.3% (P=0.246), while the 5-year PFS rates were 49.3% and 16.7% (P=0.177), respectively. Besides, the relapse pattern of NP NKTCL and N-NP NKTCL groups was also similar, mainly involving the distant extra-nodal organs followed by lymph nodes. Conclusion: The patients with N-NP NKTCL and NP NKTCL showed similar clinical and prognostic features, however, the initial response to chemotherapy was different.
