Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to explore the associations between novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case counts and meteorological factors in 30 provincial capital cities of China. We compiled a daily dataset including confirmed case counts, ambient temperature (AT), diurnal temperature range (DTR), absolute humidity (AH) and migration scale index (MSI) for each city during the period of January 20th to March 2nd, 2020. First, we explored the associations between COVID-19 confirmed case counts, meteorological factors, and MSI using non-linear regression. Then, we conducted a two-stage analysis for 17 cities with more than 50 confirmed cases. In the first stage, generalized linear models with negative binomial distribution were fitted to estimate city-specific effects of meteorological factors on confirmed case counts. In the second stage, the meta-analysis was conducted to estimate the pooled effects. Our results showed that among 13 cities that have less than 50 confirmed cases, 9 cities locate in the Northern China with average AT below 0 °C, 12 cities had average AH below 4 g/m3, and one city (Haikou) had the highest AH (14.05 g/m3). Those 17 cities with 50 and more cases accounted for 90.6% of all cases in our study. Each 1 °C increase in AT and DTR was related to the decline of daily confirmed case counts, and the corresponding pooled RRs were 0.80 (95% CI: 0.75, 0.85) and 0.90 (95% CI: 0.86, 0.95), respectively. For AH, the association with COVID-19 case counts were statistically significant in lag 07 and lag 014. In addition, we found the all these associations increased with accumulated time duration up to 14 days. In conclusions, meteorological factors play an independent role in the COVID-19 transmission after controlling population migration. Local weather condition with low temperature, mild diurnal temperature range and low humidity likely favor the transmission.

Abstract
Background Radiomics can be used to determine the prognosis of liver cancer, but it might vary among cancer types. This study aimed to explore the clinicopathological features, radiomics, and survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), mass-type cholangiocarcinoma (MCC), and combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (CHCC). Methods This was a retrospective cohort study of patients with primary liver cancer operated at the department of hepatobiliary surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University from 07/2013 to 11/2015. All patients underwent preoperative liver enhanced MRI scans and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). The radiomics characteristics of DWI and the enhanced equilibrium phase (EP) images were extracted. The mRMR (minimum redundancy maximum relevance) was applied to filter the parameters. Results There were 44 patients with MCC, 59 with HCC, and 33 with CHCC. Macrovascular invasion, tumor diameter, positive ferritin preoperatively, positive AFP preoperatively, positive CEA preoperatively, Correlation, Inverse Difference Moment, and Cluster Prominence in model A (DWI and clinicopathological parameters) were independently associated with overall survival (OS) (P<0.05). Lymphadenopathy, gender, positive ferritin preoperatively, positive AFP preoperatively, positive CEA preoperatively, Uniformity, and Cluster Prominence in model B (EP and clinicopathological parameters) were independently associated with OS (P<0.05). Macrovascular invasion, lymphadenopathy, gender, positive ferritin preoperatively, positive CEA preoperatively, Uniformity_EP, GLCMEnergy_DWI, and Cluster Prominence_EP in model C (image texture and clinicopathological parameters) were independently associated with OS (P<0.05). Those factors were used to construct three nomograms to predict OS. Conclusions Clinicopathological and radiomics features are independently associated with the OS of patients with primary liver cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE As a result of gene-environment interactions, the incidence of atherosclerosis (AS) is rapidly increasing worldwide. Autophagy in endothelial cells is a key process of AS and is difficult to control when it becomes excessive in the end stage of AS. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, we found increased expression levels of ZNF295-AS1 in the serum of AS patients, as well as in ox-LDL-treated HUVECs. The autophagy level was also upregulated in both samples. We demonstrated that ZNF295-AS1 may interact directly with miR-508-5p to act as a miR-508-5p sponge. The negative relationship between ZNF295-AS1 and miR-508-5p indicated that ZNF295-AS1 may be an upstream suppressor of miR-508-5p. RESULTS ATG7 plays a critical role in autophagy and was predicted to be a target of miR-508-5p. Therefore, we overexpressed miR-508-5p, which reduced the expression level of ATG7, enhanced cell proliferation and prevented autophagy. These data indicated that the ZNF295-AS1/miR-508-5p/ATG7 axis may participate in autophagy regulation in ox-LDL-treated HUVECs. The subsequent rescue experiments revealed the specificity of the ZNF295-AS1/miR-508-5p/ATG7 axis in the contribution of ZNF295-AS1 to autophagy. CONCLUSIONS Overall, our findings demonstrate a novel mechanism by which ZNF295-AS1 silencing regulates ATG7 reduction and inhibits autophagy, which may delay the progression of AS. The ZNF295-AS1/miR-508-5p/ATG7 axis may be of therapeutic significance in AS.

Abstract
Background:Abnormal activation of sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling has been found in synovium from patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Inhibition of SHH signaling is reported to attenuate inflammation and cartilage damage in adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA). Previously we have demonstrated that SHH signaling promoted the tumor-like behavior of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) through p38 MAPKin vitro.Objectives:In the current study, we aim to further explore the role of SHH-p38 MAPK signaling in regulating synovial hyperplasia and bone erosion in experimental arthritis.Methods:Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mouse model was induced and the mice were injected with adenovirus associated virus (AAV) overexpressing SHH or treated with small molecule inhibitors GDC-0449. SB203580 was administrated for the inhibition of p38 MAPK. The severity of paw inflammation was graded and serum levels of TNFα, IL-6 were detected. The histological features of arthritis were evaluated by H&E staining. The bone erosion was identified by micro-CT assessment and the number and function of osteoclasts were determined.Results:Blockade of SHH by GDC-0449 significantly alleviated the symptoms and decreased the synovial hyperplasia, inflammatory infiltration, cartilage and bone damage in ankles of CIA. The bone erosions in the area of the metatarsophalangeal and ankle joints and production of TNFα, IL-6 were decreased by SHH inhibition. In addition, the administration of GDC-0449 significantly decreased the number of TRAP positive cells and the expression of NFATc1. On the contrary, SHH overexpression led to increased severity of arthritis and pathological changes. We also observed the accelerated bone injury accompanied with increased number and activity of osteoclasts and increased production of serum IL-6 in mice with upregulation of SHH expression. Of note, the administration of p38 MAPK inhibitor reversed the effects of SHH overexpression, with a reduction of joint swelling and histological scores. Inhibition of p38 MAPK prevented the bone erosion and decreased the number of TRAP positive cells and the expression of NFATc1, which were promoted by SHH overexpression.Conclusion:The study indicates that SHH promotes the synovial hyperplasia and bone erosion of CIA in a p38 MAPK-dependent manner. Abstract
Background:Clinical practice guidelines recommend that exercise is an essential component in the self-management of Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS). Attending supervised interventions requiring periodic medical center visits can be burdensome and patients may decline participation, whereas, effective home-based exercise interventions that do not need regular medical center visits are likely to be more accessible and acceptable for patients with AS. Recently, increasing evidences have been accumulated that the wearable devices could facilitate patients with inflammatory arthritis by giving exercise instructions and improving self-efficacy. Therefore, patients with AS may benefit from an effective technology-assisted home-based exercise intervention.Objectives:To investigate the efficacy of a comprehensive technology-assisted home-based exercise intervention on disease activity in patients with AS.Methods:This study was a 16-week assessor-blinded, randomized, waiting-list controlled trial (ChiCTR1900024244). Patients with AS were randomly allocated to the home-based exercise intervention group and the waiting-list control group. A 16-week comprehensive exercise program consisting of a moderate intensity (64%-76% HRmax) aerobic training for 30min on 5 days/week and a functional training for 60min on 3 days/week was given to patients in the intervention group immediately after randomization, with 1.5h training sessions for two consecutive days by a study physical therapist at baseline and Week 8. The aerobic exercise intensity was controlled by a Mio FUSE Wristband with a smartphone application. The functional training consisted of the posture training, range of motion exercises, strength training, stability training and stretching exercises. Patients in control group received standard care during the 16-week follow-up and started to receive the exercise program at Week 16. The primary outcome was ASDAS at Week 16. The secondary outcomes were BASDAI, BASFI, BASMI, ASAS HI, peak oxygen uptake, body composition and muscle endurance tests. The mean difference between groups in change from baseline was analyzed with the analysis of covariance.Results:A total of 54 patients with AS were enrolled (26 in intervention group and 28 in control group) and 46 (85.2%) patients completed the 16-week follow-up. The mean difference of ASDAS between groups in change from baseline to 16-week follow-up was −0.2 (95% CI, −0.4 to 0.003, P = 0.032), and the mean change from baseline was -0.4 (95% CI, -0.5 to -0.2) in the intervention group vs -0.1 (95% CI, -0.3 to 0.01) in the control group, respectively. Significant between-group differences were found between groups for BASDAI (−0.5 [95% CI, −0.9 to −0.2], P = 0.004), BASMI (−0.7 [95% CI, −1.1 to −0.4], P <0.001), BASFI (−0.3 [95% CI, −0.6 to 0.01], P=0.035), peak oxygen uptake (2.7 [95% CI, 0.02 to 5.3] ml/kg/min, P=0.048) and extensor endurance test (17.8 [95% CI, 0.5 to 35.2]s, P=0.044) at Week 16. Between-group differences were detected in ASAS HI (−0.9 [95% CI, −1.7 to −0.1], P=0.030), body fat percentage (−1.0 [95% CI, −2.0 to −0.01] %, P=0.048) and visceral adipose tissue (−4.9 [95% CI, −8.5 to −1.4] cm2, P=0.008) at Week 8, but not at Week 16. No significant between-group differences were detected in the total lean mass, time up and go test and the flexor endurance test during the follow-up.Conclusion:Comprehensive technology-assisted home-based exercise has been shown to have beneficial effects on disease activity, physical function, spinal mobility, aerobic capacity, and body composition as well as in improving fatigue and morning stiffness of patients with AS.References:[1]van der Heijde D, Ramiro S, Landewé R, et al. Abstract
Objective: To analyze long-term outcomes and prognostic factors of gastric cancer patients after robotic radical total gastrectomy. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted. Inclusion criteria: (1) receiving robotic radical total gastrectomy; (2) gastric adenocarcinoma was confirmed by postoperative pathology; (3) no previous history of other malignant tumors; (4) no preoperative chemotherapy or radiation therapy performed. Exclusion criteria: (1) age <18 years old or age >80 years old;(2)distant metastasis before surgery, or palliative surgery; (3) conversion to laparotomy;(4) R1 or R2 resection; (5)emergency surgery; (6) remnant gastric cancer or recurrence; (7)died of severe complications during hospitalization or within 1 month after surgery. Overall survival rates (OS) and disease-free survival rates (DFS) were evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Cox regression analysis was used to identify prognosis factors for overall survival. Results: According to the above criteria, 166 gastric cancer patients who underwent robotic radical total gastrectomy between March 2010 and November 2018 were included in this study. Roux-en-Y reconstruction was performed in all patients. Reconstruction were achieved using extracorporeal method through a minilaparotomy in 149 case and intracorporeal anastomosis in 17 cases. The number of harvested lymph nodes was (34.8±17.5), and the number of harvested lymph nodes at group 2 was (10.1±6.7). The number of patients with lymph node metastasis of group 2 was 73 (44.0%). The median follow-up time was 25 months (range 2-109). There were 55 (33.1%) cases of recurrence during follow-up. The 3- and 5-year overall survival rates were 55.8% and 46.2% respectively. The 3- and 5-year disease-free survival rates were 53.4% and 45.4% respectively. The 5-year overall survival rates grouped based on TNM stage were 78.9% for stage I, 58.5% for stage II, and 37.1% for stage III. The 5-year disease-free survival rates grouped based on TNM stage were 78.9% for stage I, 59.2% for stage II, and 34.6% for stage III. Univariate analysis suggested that TNM stage, the number of harvested lymph nodes and number of harvested lymph nodes at group 2 were associated with overall survival rates (all P<0.05). Multivariate analyses revealed that TNM stage (P<0.001; stage IIIB: HR=5.357, 95%CI:1.182 to 24.275; stage IIIC: HR=11.937, 95%CI: 2.677 to 53.226) and number of harvested lymph nodes at group 2 (P=0.034; 6-10: HR=0.562,95%CI:0.326 to 0.969; >10: HR=0.388, 95%CI: 0.176 to 0.857) were independent prognostic factors for overall survival. Conclusion: The long-term outcomes of robotic radical total gastrectomy were satisfactory. TNM stage and number of harvested lymph nodes at group 2 were independent prognostic factors for overall survival.

Abstract
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been considered a special class of non-coding RNAs without 5' caps and 3' tails which are covalently closed RNA molecules generated by back splicing of mRNA. For a long time, circRNAs have been considered to be directly involved in various biological processes as functional RNA. In recent years, a variety of circRNAs have been found to have translational functions, and the resultant peptides also play biological roles in the emergence and progression of human disease. The discovery of these circRNAs and their encoded peptides has enriched genomics, helped us to study the causes of diseases, and promoted the development of biotechnology. The purpose of this review is to summarize the research progress of the detection methods, translation initiation mechanism, as well as functional mechanism of peptides encoded by circRNAs, with the goal of providing the directions for the discovery of biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic targets for human disease.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the pathological characteristics and the clinical significance of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)-infected pneumonia (termed by WHO as coronavirus disease 2019, COVID-19). Methods: Minimally invasive autopsies from lung, heart, kidney, spleen, bone marrow, liver, pancreas, stomach, intestine, thyroid and skin were performed on three patients died of novel coronavirus pneumonia in Chongqing, China. Hematoxylin and eosin staining (HE), transmission electron microcopy, and histochemical staining were performed to investigate the pathological changes of indicated organs or tissues. Immunohistochemical staining was conducted to evaluate the infiltration of immune cells as well as the expression of 2019-nCoV proteins. Real time PCR was carried out to detect the RNA of 2019-nCoV. Results: Various damages were observed in the alveolar structure, with minor serous exudation and fibrin exudation. Hyaline membrane formation was observed in some alveoli. The infiltrated immune cells in alveoli were majorly macrophages and monocytes. Moderate multinucleated giant cells, minimal lymphocytes, eosinophils and neutrophils were also observed. Most of infiltrated lymphocytes were CD4-positive T cells. Significant proliferation of type Ⅱ alveolar epithelia and focal desquamation of alveolar epithelia were also indicated. The blood vessels of alveolar septum were congested, edematous and widened, with modest infiltration of monocytes and lymphocytes. Hyaline thrombi were found in a minority of microvessels. Focal hemorrhage in lung tissue, organization of exudates in some alveolar cavities, and pulmonary interstitial fibrosis were observed. Part of the bronchial epithelia were exfoliated. Coronavirus particles in bronchial mucosal epithelia and type Ⅱ alveolar epithelia were observed under electron microscope. Immunohistochemical staining showed that part of the alveolar epithelia and macrophages were positive for 2019-nCoV antigen. Real time PCR analyses identified positive signals for 2019-nCoV nucleic acid. Decreased numbers of lymphocyte, cell degeneration and necrosis were observed in spleen. Furthermore, degeneration and necrosis of parenchymal cells, formation of hyaline thrombus in small vessels, and pathological changes of chronic diseases were observed in other organs and tissues, while no evidence of coronavirus infection was observed in these organs. Conclusions: The lungs from novel coronavirus pneumonia patients manifest significant pathological lesions, including the alveolar exudative inflammation and interstitial inflammation, alveolar epithelium proliferation and hyaline membrane formation. While the 2019-nCoV is mainly distributed in lung, the infection also involves in the damages of heart, vessels, liver, kidney and other organs. Further studies are warranted to investigate the mechanism underlying pathological changes of this disease.

Abstract
A new fluorinated electron acceptor (FINIC) based on 6,6,12,12-tetrakis(3-fluoro-4-hexylphenyl)-indacenobis(dithieno[3,2-b;2',3'-d]thiophene) as the electron-donating central core and 5,6-difluoro-3-(1,1-dicyanomethylene)-1-indanone as the electron-deficient end groups is rationally designed and synthesized. FINIC shows similar absorption profile in dilute solution to the nonfluorinated analogue INIC. However, compared with INIC, FINIC film shows red-shifted absorption, down-shifted frontier molecular orbital energy levels, enhanced crystallinity, and more ordered molecular packing. Single-crystal structure data show that FINIC molecules pack into closer 3D "network" motif through H-bonding and π-π interaction, while INIC molecules pack into incompact "honeycomb" motif through only π-π stacking. Theoretical calculations reveal that FINIC has stronger electronic coupling and more molecular interactions than INIC. FINIC has higher electron mobilities in both horizontal and vertical directions than INIC. Moreover, FINIC and INIC support efficient 3D exciton transport. PBD-SF/FINIC blend has a larger driving force for exciton splitting, more efficient charge transfer and photoinduced charge generation. Finally, the organic solar cells based on PBD-SF/FINIC blend yield power conversion efficiency of 14.0%, far exceeding that of the PBD-SF/INIC-based devices (5.1%).

Abstract
BACKGROUND Guidelines for follow-up of patients with melanoma are based on limited evidence. OBJECTIVES To guide skin surveillance, we developed a risk prediction model for subsequent primary melanomas, using demographic, phenotypical, histopathological, sun exposure and genomic risk factors. METHODS Using Cox regression frailty models, we analysed data for 2613 primary melanomas from 1266 patients recruited to the population-based Genes, Environment and Melanoma study in New South Wales, Australia, with a median of 14 years' follow-up via the cancer registry. Discrimination and calibration were assessed. RESULTS The median time to diagnosis of a subsequent primary melanoma decreased with each new primary melanoma. The final model included 12 risk factors. Harrell's C-statistic was 0·73 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0·68-0·77], 0·65 (95% CI 0·62-0·68) and 0·65 (95% CI 0·61-0·69) for predicting second, third and fourth primary melanomas, respectively. The risk of a subsequent primary melanoma was 4·75 times higher (95% CI 3·87-5·82) for the highest vs. the lowest quintile of the risk score. The mean absolute risk of a subsequent primary melanoma within 5 years was 8·0 ± SD 4.1% after the first primary melanoma, and 46·8 ± 15·0% after the second, but varied substantially by risk score. CONCLUSIONS The risk of developing a subsequent primary melanoma varies considerably between individuals and is particularly high for those with two or more primary melanomas. The risk prediction model and its associated nomograms enable estimation of the absolute risk of subsequent primary melanoma, on the basis of on an individual's risk factors, and can be used to tailor surveillance intensity, communicate risk and provide patient education. What's already known about this topic? Current guidelines for the frequency and length of follow-up to detect new primary melanomas in patients with one or more previous primary melanomas are based on limited evidence. People with one or more primary melanomas have, on average, a higher risk of developing another primary invasive melanoma, compared with the general population, but an accurate way of estimating individual risk is needed. What does this study add? We provide a comprehensive risk prediction model for subsequent primary melanomas, using data from 1266 participants with melanoma (2613 primary melanomas), over a median 14 years' follow-up. The model includes 12 risk factors comprising demographic, phenotypical, histopathological and genomic factors, and sun exposure. It enables estimation of the absolute risk of subsequent primary melanomas, and can be used to tailor surveillance intensity, communicate individual risk and provide patient education.

Abstract
To realize both mechatronic properties of light mass and high control precision for a pan-tilt based on the multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle (MUAV) for aerial remote sensing applications, a structural multi-objective optimization approach based on the approximate model and genetic algorithm is proposed. The optimized structural parameters for establishing the approximate model are determined through the sensitivity analysis method, by which the predominant variables affecting mass and modal are selected. The approximate models on mass and first-order modal frequency are built through response surface methodology (RSM) and radial basis function (RBF) to heighten the optimization efficiency and smooth the numerical optimization results. Particularly, the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) and Pareto Optimality are combined to acquire the parameters' optimal solutions. The modal tests based on hammering method and the control experiments are both conducted to validate the performance of the proposed approach. The results indicate that the structural multi-objective optimization approach presented in this paper is effective to reduce the mass meanwhile enhance its first-order modal frequency, hence leading to good stabilizing and tracking performances.

Abstract
We discover hidden Rashba fine structure in CH_{3}NH_{3}PbI_{3} and demonstrate its quantum control by vibrational coherence through symmetry-selective vibronic (electron-phonon) coupling. Above a critical threshold of a single-cycle terahertz pump field, a Raman phonon mode distinctly modulates the middle excitonic states with persistent coherence for more than ten times longer than the ones on two sides that predominately couple to infrared phonons. These vibronic quantum beats, together with first-principles modeling of phonon periodically modulated Rashba parameters, identify a threefold excitonic fine structure splitting, i.e., optically forbidden, degenerate dark states in between two bright ones with a narrow, ∼3 nm splitting. Harnessing of vibronic quantum coherence and symmetry inspires light-perovskite quantum control and sub-THz-cycle "Rashba engineering" of spin-split bands for ultimate multifunction device.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the effect of influenza vaccination intervention among key populations of chronic disease management in communities of Shanghai. Methods: A total of 50 787 patients aged ≥60 with diabetes, hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Huangpu, Yangpu, Baoshan and Qingpu districts of Shanghai from January 2013 to August 2017 were selected as the intervention group, and 52 268 people from key populations with chronic disease management in Xuhui, Hongkou, Jiading and Fengxian districts were selected as the control group according to the geographical location and economic level. The intervention group accepted follow-up and health education of influenza vaccination via chronic disease outpatient based on information system. The implementation time of the intervention was from September 2017 to January 2018. The basic information and diagnosis information of two groups, and intervention completion of the intervention group were obtained from Shanghai chronic disease management information system and hospital record system. Results: The age of the intervention group and the control group were (76.76±8.33) and (77.97±8.51) years old, respectively (P<0.001); and there were statistical differences in gender, occupational and influenza vaccination rate between the two groups (P<0.001). A total of 28 644 (56.40%) subjects of the intervention group received intervention. There was no significant difference in age composition between finished and unfinished intervention groups (P=0.095), and there was significant difference in gender composition (P=0.044). Before the intervention, the vaccination rate of the intervention group was 0.75% (382 subjects) which was lower than that of the control group with 1.02% (533 subjects) (χ(2)=20.96, P<0.001). After the intervention, the vaccination rate of the intervention group was 1.73% (496 subjects) which was higher than that of the control group with 1.42% (744 subjects) (χ(2)=11.65, P=0.001). Subjects that were male, younger, uptake of influenza vaccine before the intervention, received intervention and professional and technical personnel were more likely to take influenza vaccine, with OR (95%CI) 1.29 (1.13-1.47), 0.97 (0.96-0.98), 260.30 (215.21-314.83), 1.85 (1.61-2.11) and 1.48 (1.10-1.99), respectively. Conclusion: Influenza vaccination intervetion raised the vaccination rate of key population of chronic disease management. Male, younger, those who had been vaccinated before the intervention, who received the intervention, and professional and technical personnel were more likely to be vaccinated.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effects of water body environments on the microbial community of Oncomelania hupensis snails in marshlands of the eastern Dongting Lake where natural extinction of O. hupensis snails are found, so as to explore the correlation between the natural extinction of O. hupensis snails and the microbial community in snails. METHODS Snails were caged water bodies in the Qianliang Lake marshland (Qianliang Lake regions) where natural extinction of snails was found and in the Junshan Park marshland (Junshan Park regions) in the eastern Dongting Lake for 30 days, and then all snails were collected and identified for survival or death. DNA sequencing of the fungi and bacteria was performed in snails before and after immersion in waters, and the biodiversity and abundance were analyzed. RESULTS The survival rates of O. hupensis snails were 28.0% (70/250) and 64.8% (162/250) in Qianliang Lake regions and Junshan Park regions 30 days after immersion in waters, respectively (χ2 = 81.365, P < 0.01). The number of the fungal community and the biodiversity of the bacterial community were both greater in snails caged in Qianliang Lake regions post-immersion than pre-immersion, and there was a significant difference in the structure of the fungal and bacterial communities. The microbial community with a significant difference included Flavobacteriaceae,which was harmful to O. hupensis snails. CONCLUSIONS The water body environment affects the composition of the microbial community in O. hupensis snails in marshlands with natural snail distinction around the eastern Dongting Lake; however, further studies are required to investigate whether the natural distinction of snails is caused by water body environments-induced changes of the microbial spectrum in O. hupensis snails.

Abstract
Synaptic positions underlie precise circuit connectivity. Synaptic positions can be established during embryogenesis and sustained during growth. The mechanisms that sustain synaptic specificity during allometric growth are largely unknown. We performed forward genetic screens in C. elegans for regulators of this process and identified mig-17, a conserved ADAMTS metalloprotease. Proteomic mass spectrometry, cell biological and genetic studies demonstrate that MIG-17 is secreted from cells like muscles to regulate basement membrane proteins. In the nematode brain, the basement membrane does not directly contact synapses. Instead, muscle-derived basement membrane coats one side of the glia, while glia contact synapses on their other side. MIG-17 modifies the muscle-derived basement membrane to modulate epidermal-glial crosstalk and sustain glia location and morphology during growth. Glia position in turn sustains the synaptic pattern established during embryogenesis. Our findings uncover a muscle-epidermis-glia signaling axis that sustains synaptic specificity during the organism's allometric growth.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of clinic standardized blood pressure measurement model (SBPM) applying to first blood pressure measurement among community population aged 35 years old and above. Methods: SBPM was implemented in the community health service center of Dapuqiao street, Huangpu district of Shanghai from June 1, 2018, and the data between June 1 and December 31, 2018 was used as the SBPM data. The first-diagnosis blood pressure measurement data in this center between June 1 and December 31, 2017 was used as the conventional measurement (CM) model data. The detection rate of elevated blood pressure under SBPM was standardized according to the gender and age distribution of subjects in CM. The equilibrium of the value distribution of the end digit of blood pressure value in different pressure-measuring models and difference of elevated blood pressure rate of subjects with different characteristics and seasons were analyzed by using the χ(2) test, and the difference of standardized elevated blood pressure rate in different pressure-measuring models was analyzed by using the U test. Results: The SBPM included 1 548 subjects and 639 (41.28%) of them were males. The CM included 2 952 inpatients and 1 196 (40.51%) of them were males. The frequency of the end digit of blood pressure in SBPM ranged from 9.04% to 10.72%, and both systolic and diastolic blood pressure showed a balanced distribution of end digit (P values were 0.996 and 0.981 respectively). The frequency of blood pressure end digital in the CM ranged from 0.37% to 67.92%, and both systolic and diastolic blood pressure showed an unbalanced distribution (both P values <0.001). The crude rate and standardized elevated blood pressure rate in SBPM were 23.19% (359/1 548) and 23.05%, which were higher than that in CM, about 7.22% (213/2 952) (both P values <0.001). The elevated blood pressure rate in SBPM in summer, autumn and winter was 18.85% (141/748), 26.72% (152/591) and 31.58% (66/209), respectively, which was higher than that in CM, about 6.28% (91/1 450), 7.20% (82/1 139) and 11.02% (40/363), respectively (all P values <0.001). Conclusion: The quality of blood pressure data and the efficiency of hypertension screening of SBPM are better than those of CM when applying to first blood pressure measurement among community population aged 35 years old and above.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects and mechanism of rat epidermal stem cells (ESCs) that were treated with exogenous vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on the healing of deep partial-thickness burn wounds in rats. Methods: ESCs were isolated and cultured from the trunk skin of a 3-month-old female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rat. The third passage of cultured cells in the logarithmic growth phase was used in experiments (1)-(3). (1) The cells were routinely cultured in keratinocytes-specified serum-free medium (K-SFM) (the same routine culture condition below). The morphology of cells cultured for 3 and 5 days was observed under the inverted optical microscope. (2) After 24 hours in routine culture, the expression of cell surface markers CD44, CD45, CD11b, and CD11c was detected by flow cytometer, with triplicate samples. (3) Four batches of cells were collected, and each batch was divided into VEGF group or blank control group according to the random number table. The cells in blank control group were routinely cultured, while the cells in VEGF group were cultured in K-SFM containing VEGF in the final mass concentration of 10 ng/mL. The protein expressions of cytokeratin 19 (CK19) and CK10 in cells cultured for 10 days were detected by Western blotting. The Nanog mRNA expression in cells cultured for 0 (immediately), 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 day (s) was detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The absorbance value was detected with cell counting kit-8 in cells cultured for 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 days. The clone number of more than 50 cells was observed and counted under the optical microscope in cells cultured for 10 days, and the cell colony formation rate was calculated. Three samples at each time point was analysed. (4) Thirty-six 3-month-old SD rats (either male or female) were used for the study, and two deep partial-thickness burn wounds (10 mm in diameter) were created in each rat by pressing a 100 ℃ electric iron plate on symmetric dorsal side. According to the random number table, the injured rats were divided into VEGF+ ESCs group, ESCs alone group, and blank control group, with 12 rats and 24 wounds in each group. From 0 (immediately) to 2 day (s) after injury, 20 μL phosphate buffer solution (PBS) was injected into each wound in the three groups in one time, once a day, with the solution in VEGF+ ESCs group containing 0.8×10(6) cells/mL of ESCs treated by 10 ng/mL VEGF for 10 days, the solution in ESCs alone group containing 0.8×10(6) cells/mL of ESCs without any treatment, and the solution in blank control group being PBS only. On post first injection day (PFID) 0 (immediately), 3, 7, and 14, three rats from each group were taken respectively according to the random number table for wound healing assessment, and the wound healing rates on PFID 3, 7, and 14 were calculated. The mice at each time point were sacrificed with wound tissue harvested for histology, and the skin structure was observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, analysis of variance for factorial design, least significant difference test, and Bonferroni correction. Results: (1) By day 3 in culture, cells distributed in slowly-growing clusters. By day 5, the clusters were large and round, in which the cells mainly with large and round nuclei and little cytoplasm were observed. The above results were consistent with the morphological characteristics of ESCs. (2) The positive expression rate of CD44 was (94.3±1.2) %, and the expressions of CD45, CD11b, and CD11c were negative. The cells were confirmed as ESCs. (3) Compared with those of blank control group, the protein expression of CK19 in the cells of VEGF group was significantly increased after 10 days in culture (t=3.756, P<0.05), while the protein expression of CK10 was significantly decreased (t=3.149, P<0.05). Compared with those of blank control group, the Nanog mRNA expression in the cells cultured for 0 and 2 day (s) and absorbance values of the cells cultured for 2 and 4 day (s) were not significantly changed in VEGF group (t=0.58, 0.77, 0.53, 3.02, P>0.05), while the Nanog mRNA expression in the cells cultured for 4, 6, 8, and 10 days and absorbance values of the cells cultured for 6, 8, and 10 days were significantly increased in VEGF group (t=6.34, 5.00, 5.58, 4.61, 5.65, 10.78, 15.51, P<0.01). After 10 days in culture, the cell colony-forming rate in VEGF group was (56.4±1.3) %, significantly higher than (31.5±1.3) % of blank control group (t=13.96, P<0.01). (4) The burn wounds of rats in the three groups were confined to the superficial dermis of the skin on PFID 0. On PFID 3, normal skin tissue at wound margins slightly contracted in the rats of VEGF+ ESCs group, which was earlier than that in the other two groups. On PFID 7, the newly generated epidermis covered most parts of the rat wounds in VEGF+ ESCs group, and some of the epithelium crawled around the rat wounds in ESCs alone group, but no obvious epithelialization was observed in the rat wounds in blank control group. On PFID 14, the rat wounds in VEGF+ ESCs group were basically healed, while some parts of the rat wounds were unhealed in ESCs alone group, and most parts of the rat wounds were unhealed in blank control group. On PFID 3, the wound healing rates of rats in the three groups were similar (P>0.05). On PFID 7 and 14, the wound healing rates of rats in ESCs alone group, respectively (26.0±2.0) % and (64.4±4.7) %, were obviously higher than (12.4±1.1) % and (29.1±3.3) % of blank control group (P<0.01), all of which were obviously lower than (41.0±2.4) % and (91.3±3.5) % of VEGF+ ESCs group (P<0.01). On PFID 3, infiltration of a large number of inflammatory cells were observed in the rat wounds in VEGF+ ESCs group, which was earlier than those in the other two groups. On PFID 7, a large number of endothelial cells were observed in the rat wounds in VEGF+ ESCs group, while proliferation of a few endothelial cells were observed in the rat wounds in ESCs alone group, and a large number of inflammatory cells infiltrated the rat wounds in blank control group. On PFID 14, the newly generated epidermal cells covered nearly all the rat wounds in VEGF+ ESCs group and most parts of the rat wounds in ESCs alone group, while a large number of endothelial cells were observed and the newly generated epidermal cells covered some parts of the rat wounds in blank control group. Conclusions: ESCs of rats treated with exogenous VEGF can promote the healing of deep partial-thickness burn wounds in rats, which may be related to VEGF's roles in promoting the proliferation of ESCs and reducing its differentiation level, so as to maintain the potency of stem cells.

Abstract
The sensitivity of conventional thin-film OFET-based sensors is limited by the diffusion of analytes through bulk films and remains the central challenge in sensing technology. Now, for the first time, an ultrasensitive (sub-ppb level) sensor is reported that exploits n-type monolayer molecular crystals (MMCs) with porous two-dimensional structures. Thanks to monolayer crystal structure of NDI3HU-DTYM2 (NDI) and controlled formation of porous structure, a world-record detection limit of NH3 (0.1 ppb) was achieved. Moreover, the MMC-OFETs also enabled direct detection of solid analytes of biological amine derivatives, such as dopamine at an extremely low concentration of 500 ppb. The remarkably improved sensing performances of MMC-OFETs opens up the possibility of engineering OFETs for ultrasensitive (bio)chemical sensing.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the prevalence of visual impairment and spectacles ownership among academic and vocational upper secondary school students in rural China. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 5583 students from four academic upper secondary schools (AUSSs) and two vocational upper secondary schools (VUSSs) in Mei and Qianyang counties, Baoji Prefecture, Shaanxi Province. In March and April 2016, students underwent assessment of visual acuity (VA) and completed a questionnaire regarding spectacles use and family characteristics. Students with visual impairment (presenting VA ≤6/12 in the better eye) and students needing spectacles (uncorrected VA ≤6/12 in the better eye, which could be improved to >6/12 with refraction) were identified. RESULTS Among 5583 students (54% boys, mean age 16.4±1.0 years) in grades 10 and grade 11 attending AUSSs (n=4549) and VUSSs (n=1034), visual impairment was detected in 4026 students. Among the AUSS students, 3425 (75%) needed spectacles; 2551 (75%) had them. Among the VUSS students, 601 (58%) needed spectacles; this proportion was significantly smaller (P=0.004), as was the proportion who had spectacles (n=212, 35%, P<0.001), compared with the AUSS students. Multivariate analysis showed that ownership of spectacles among children who needed them was associated with worse uncorrected VA (P<0.001), male sex (P<0.001), and residence in an urban area (P<0.034). Spectacles ownership was also strongly associated with AUSS education (P<0.001). CONCLUSION There is a high rate of unmet need in visual care among upper secondary school students. Lack of spectacles ownership among children who needed them was significantly associated with VUSS education.

Abstract
It is essential to dissect an adequate number of lymph nodes (LNs) to ensure staging accuracy during esophagectomy with or without neoadjuvant therapy. We developed a statistical model to quantify the probability of precise nodal staging based on previous studies. Esophageal cancer patients who underwent esophagectomy were retrospectively reviewed in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. A β-binomial distribution was adopted to estimate the number of understaged patients based on the numbers of positive and examined LNs. Using 6,252 patients, we estimated a 90% confidence of accurate N0 staging could be achieved by examining 17 LNs without neoadjuvant therapy. To obtain similar accuracy in N1 and N2, 20 and 25 LNs should be examined. For patients with neoadjuvant therapy, 18, 19, and 28 LNs could achieve the same accuracy. Staging accuracy was a significant prognostic factor. We found when 90% confidence had been achieved, patient survival did not improve with more LNs examined and the ratio and log odds of positive LNs did not have significant prognostic values. The statistical model we developed for precise staging in patients with different N stages is of great value in guiding lymphadenectomy. It provided risk assessment for underestimated LN metastases and guided subsequent adjuvant treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Swallowing disorder is a health burden for the elderly in China. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of dysphagia and to test the association between skeletal muscle strength and swallowing problems among community-dwelling older adults. DESIGN A cross-sectional study. SETTING Community-dwelling Chinese elderly in China. PARTICIPANTS 3361 adults aged 65 years or above were involved, among which 1740 (51.8%) were female, with average age of 72.64 (Standard deviation, SD=6.10) years old. MEASUREMENTS Handgrip strength (HGS) was used to evaluate skeletal muscle strength. Dysphagia assessment was performed using the Eating Assessment Tool-10 (EAT-10) and the 30mL water swallow test (WST). Binary logistic regression was used to evaluate the relationship between skeletal muscle strength and dysphagia, and covariates as age, gender, material status, etc. were adjusted. RESULTS The prevalence of dysphagia were 5.5% and 12.9%, screened by EAT-10 and 30mL WST respectively. Participants with dysphagia showed lower HGS (21.73 ± 9.20 vs. 25.66 ± 11.32, p<0.001, by EAT-10; 20.26 ± 9.88 vs. 26.22 ± 11.28, p<0.001, by WST). The adjusted model suggested that muscle strength is a protective factor for swallowing disorders (adjusted OR=0.974, 95%CI: 0.950-0.999, by EAT-10; adjusted OR=0.952, 95%CI: 0.933-0.972, by WST). Subgroup analyses of WST found the effects were significant among participants aged in 70-74 years group and ≥75 years group, rather than those aged under 70. CONCLUSION Dysphagia was significantly associated with skeletal muscle strength among the community-dwelling elderly population. Effective interventions should be taken to manage the decline of muscle strength for the older adults, especially early prevention before 70 years old.

Abstract
It is generally believed that the photoresponse behavior of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) reflects the intrinsic property of organic semiconductors. However, this photoresponse hinders the application of OFETs in transparent displays as driven circuits due to the current instability resulting from the threshold voltage shift under light illumination. It is necessary to relieve the photosensitivity of OFETs to keep the devices stable. 2,6-diphenyl anthracene thin-film and single-crystal OFETs are fabricated on different substrates, and it is found that the degree of molecular order in the conducting channels and the defects at the dielectric/semiconductor interface play important roles in determining the phototransistor performance. When highly ordered single-crystal OFETs are fabricated on polymeric substrates with low defects, the photosensitivity (P) decreases by more than 105 times and the threshold voltage shift (ΔVT ) is almost eliminated compared with the corresponding thin-film OFETs. This phenomenon is further verified by using another three organic semiconductors for similar characterizations. The decreased P and ΔVT of OFETs ensure a good current stability for OFETs to drive organic light-emitting diodes efficiently, which is essential to the application of OFETs in flexible and transparent displays.

Abstract
Mitochondrial antiviral signaling protein (MAVS), a crucial adaptor protein localized on mitochondria, plays vital roles in various biological processes. Autophagy and apoptosis are two independent and closely linked cell death pathways. But whether MAVS could induce apoptosis and autophagy in rhabdomyosarcoma cells (RD cells) and what is the relationship between autophagy and apoptosis still remains elusive. Here, we reveal that overexpression of MAVS could trigger both apoptosis and autophagy in RD cells. Interestingly, MAVS-induced apoptosis was dependent on the activation of the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway and inhibition of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway. Also, it was found that inhibition of autophagy by 3-methyladenine (3-MA) enhanced MAVS-induced apoptosis resulting in increased cleavage of caspase-3 and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP). Meanwhile, autophagy induction by rapamycin resulted in decreased MAVS-induced apoptosis. In addition, we found that MAVS expression was inhibited upon Coxsackievirus A16 (CA16) infection and overexpression of MAVS could inhibit CA16 replication. Collectively, our study provides novel insights into the link between apoptosis and autophagy induced by MAVS overexpression in RD cells and gains a greater understanding of MAVS-induced antiviral functions, which provide new targets for CA16 treatment. Abstract
AIM Anastomotic leakage (AL) is one of the most feared postoperative complications after anterior resection (AR) of rectal cancer. An adequate blood supply at the anastomotic site is regarded as a prerequisite for healing. We hypothesize that the Aortic Calcification Index (ACI) might reflect the severity of atherosclerosis in patients, and thereby be a risk factor for AL. METHOD AL was investigated retrospectively according to the definition of the International Study Group of Rectal Cancer in 423 rectal cancer patients who underwent anterior rectal resection. The ACI was measured by preoperative abdominal CT scan. The cross-section of the aorta was evenly divided into 12 sectors, the number of calcified sectors was counted as the calcification score of each slice. Lasso logistic regression and multivariate regression analysis were used to identify risk factors for AL. RESULTS The percentage of AL after AR was 7.8% (33/423); the mortality of patients who sustained a leak was 3.0% (1/33). Patients with a high ACI had a significantly higher percentage of AL than patients with low ACI (11.2% vs 5.6%, P = 0.04). Among patients with AL, a higher ACI was associated with greater severity of AL (the ACI of patients with grade A leakage, grade B leakage and grade C leakage was 0.5% ± 0.2%, 11.5% ± 9.2% and 24.2% ± 21.7%, respectively; P = 0.008). After risk adjustment, multivariate regression analysis showed that a higher ACI was an independent risk factor for AL (OR 2.391, P = 0.04). CONCLUSION A high ACI might be an important prognostic factor for AL after AR for rectal cancer. Confirmatory studies are required.

Abstract
Objective: To study the effect of apoptosis-stimulating protein 2 of p53 (ASPP2) on the activation and apoptosis of hepatic stellate cells induced by transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF - β1), and to explore the role of autophagy in this process. Methods: Mouse hepatic stellate cells were primarily isolated and cultured with green fluorescent protein (GFP) expressing empty vector adenovirus (Ad-GFP) and ASPP2 expressing adenovirus (Ad-ASPP2) for 12 h by transfection kit, and then treated with TGF-β1 (10ng/ml) for 24 h. The experiments were grouped as follows: control group: green fluorescent protein (GFP) expressing empty vector adeno (Ad-GFP); experimental group 1: transfected with Ad-GFP and added with TGF-β1; experimental group 2: transfected with Ad-ASPP2 and induced by TGF-β1. Western blot and quantitative fluorescence PCR were used to detect the expression of ASPP2, α-smooth muscle actin (SMA). At the same time, autophagy was determined by microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3-β (LC3). Autophagy and apoptosis of MHSc were observed by immunocytochemistry and RNA interference (RNAi). Multiple pairwise-comparisons between the mean of groups was performed by one-way ANOVA. Results: The relative expression of α-SMA mRNA in mHSC of TGF-β1 + Ad-GFP group (16.83 ± 2.41) was significantly higher than Ad-GFP group (3.62 ± 0.56) (P < 0.05), while the relative expression of α-SMA mRNA (4.22 ± 0.48) in TGF-β1 + Ad-GFP group was significantly lower than TGF-β1 + Ad-GFP group (P < 0.05). The expression of α-SMA protein in each group was consistent with mRNA expression. The proportion of mHSC autophagy in TGF-β1 + Ad-GFP group (80%) was significantly higher than Ad-GFP group (35%); however, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. The proportion of mHSC autophagy in TGF-β1 + Ad-ASPP2 group was 42%, which was significantly lower than TGF-β1 + Ad-GFP group, but the apoptotic rate was significantly increased. Cells were simultaneously treated with autophagy inhibitors 3-MA and TGF-β1. The level of autophagy was not statistically significantly different from that of TGF-β1 + Ad-ASPP2 group, but the apoptotic rate was increased. In addition, the RNAi group added with ASPP2 had increased autophagy (LC3-II/LC3-I) than control RNAi group, and the rate of apoptosis was significantly decreased. Conclusion: Overexpression of ASPP2 can alleviate the activation of mHSC and promote the apoptosis of HSC by inhibiting autophagy, so as to alleviate liver fibrosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Elevated apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) is correlated with the occurrence of aortic dissection (AD). Mammalian ste20-like protein kinase 1 (MST1) is one important component of Hippo-YAP signal pathway for activation and cell apoptosis facilitation. Whether MST1 plays a role in AD pathogenesis is unclear yet. This study established an AD rat model to investigate the role of MST1 in regulating VSMC apoptosis and AD pathogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cell apoptosis was compared between AD vascular tissues and normal rats, in addition to Caspase-3 activity, and expression of MST1, p-LATS1, p-YAP1, YAP1. In vitro cultured VSMCs from AD rats were treated with siRNA-MST1 to test apoptotic rate and Caspase-3 activity. AD model rats were treated with pGLVU6/GFP-MST1 for comparing MST1, p-LATS1, p-YAP1, and YAP1 expression, along with Caspase-3 activity, cell apoptosis, AD formation rate, diameter, and length. RESULTS Compared to control group, AD rats had elevated vascular cell apoptosis, Caspase-3 activity, expressions of MST1, p-LATS1, and p-YAP1, plus lower YAP1 expression. siRNA interference of MST1 significantly inhibited apoptosis of in vitro cultured VSMC. shRNA lentivirus targeting MST1 pGLVU6/GFP-MST1 remarkably decreased expression of MST1, p-LATS1, and p-YAP1 in AD rat vascular tissues, increased YAP1 expression, decreased VSMC apoptosis, AD formation rate, AD diameter/length. CONCLUSIONS MST1 up-regulation plays a role in facilitating VSMC apoptosis and AD pathogenesis. Down-regulation of MST1 decreased VSMC apoptosis and AD formation.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the current status and related factors of influenza vaccination among health care workers (HCWs) in tertiary hospitals of Xining city after the implementation of the free influenza vaccination policy. Methods: In August 2018, the cluster sampling method was used to select four medical institutions in Xining that had previously conducted investigations and interventions. All HCWs(excluding logistic staff) in each medical institution were included in the study. A total of 3 260 valid respondents were included. Questionnaires were used to collect the demographic characteristics, influenza and influenza vaccination awareness, implementation of free policy in the influenza epidemic season from 2017 to 2018, influenza vaccination status, awareness of influenza vaccination schedule and free policy. The multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze related factors of influenza vaccination. Results: The age of respondents was (31.41±5.00) years. The influenza vaccination rate was 6.80% (226/3 260) in 2017-2018 influenza epidemic season. After controlling for related factors, the awareness of the influenza vaccination schedule (OR=17.05, 95%CI: 5.86-49.59), vaccination frequency (OR=8.22, 95%CI: 2.98-22.61) and the free policy (OR=3.15, 95%CI: 1.49-6.67) had higher vaccination rate. Conclusion: The influenza vaccination rate of HCWs in tertiary hospitals of Xining city was low. Increasing the awareness of the vaccination schedule, frequency and free policy may promote the influenza vaccination rate of HCWs.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the association between edentulism and cognition in people aged 50 and over in China. Methods: Cross-sectional data was collected from the first wave of World Health Organization Study on global AGEing and adult health in China, among people aged 50 and over in China. A comprehensive cognitive test was used to assess cognitive functions, including verbal recall (VR), verbal fluency (VF), forward digit span (FDS) and backward digit span (BDS) among the subjects. Association between edentulism and cognition was examined by a two-level (individual level and community level) linear model. Results: A total of 12 843 individuals aged 50 years and over were included for analysis, with an average age of (63.0±9.3) years. The overall prevalence of edentulism was 11.0%. The edentulous adults had lower mean scores of VR (4.55), VF (10.88), FDS (6.25), BDS (2.96) and overall cognition (49.15) (P<0.001). Edentulism was negatively associated with VR (β=-0.216, 95%CI: -0.370 - -0.062), FDS (β=-0.186, 95%CI: -0.293 - -0.078) and overall cognition (β=-1.703, 95%CI: -3.025 - -0.381) after adjusted for age, sex, residence, education level, marital status, household income, co-morbidity of chronic conditions, BMI, smoking and drinking alcohol. Conclusion: Edentulism was related with lower cognition level in people aged 50 and over in China.

Methods: Cross-sectional data was collected from the first wave of World Health Organization Study on global AGEing and adult health in China. A two-level (individual level and community level) logistic model was performed to identify the association between daily sedentary time and frailty. The dose-response relationship between them was analyzed by restrictive cubic spline curve. Results: A total of 13 175 individuals aged 50 years and over were included for analysis. A positive association between daily sedentary time and frailty was noticed, both in urban (OR=1.22, 95%CI: 1.17-1.27) or rural areas (OR=1.11, 95%CI: 1.05-1.18) under study. The dose-response curve showed that daily sedentary time and frailty might present an approximate linear relationship. Conclusion: Results from this study showed significant association exsited between daily sedentary time and frailty, approximately with a linear dose-response relationship.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the association between sleep duration and frailty among people aged 50 years and over. Methods: Cross-sectional data was collected from the first wave of World Health Organization Study on global AGEing and adult health in China. Frailty index was constructed on the proportion of deficits, out of the 40 variables. A two-level (individual level and community level) linear model was performed to identify the related factors on frailty. All the models were stratified by age, gender, residence (urban/rural). Restricted cubic spline was performed to graphically evaluate the dose-response association between self-reported sleep duration and frailty. Results: A total of 13 175 individuals aged 50 years and over participated in this study. Without adjusting on any confounding factors, shorter or longer sleep duration significantly increased the risk of weakness compared with normal sleep time (OR=2.05, 95%CI: 1.71-2.44; OR=1.35, 95%CI: 1.12-1.63). After adjusting for confounding factors such as gender, age, residence, education, family assets, vegetable, smoking, drinking and physical activity, a positive association between short sleep duration and frailty was noticed compared with normal sleep time (aOR=1.60, 95%CI: 1.27-2.01). The results of stratified analysis on sex, age and urban and rural areas showed that, after adjusting for gender, age, residence, education level, family assets, intake of vegetables and fruits, smoking, drinking and physical activity, only shorter sleep duration was positively correlated with the risk of weakness. In addition, among people aged 65 years and over, adjusted for confounding factors, the risk of weakness increased by 91%, compared with normal sleep time (aOR=1.91, 95%CI: 1.46-2.49). The dose-response curve also showed that the sleep duration and frailty present an approximate "U" shaped relationship. Conclusion: Short sleep duration might be associated with frailty.

Abstract
Objective: To examine the association between long-term exposure to ambient PM(2.5) combined with indoor air pollution and handgrip strength among people aged 50 and over. Methods: Data were from the first wave of World Health Organization Study on global AGEing and adult health in China. Ambient annual concentration of PM(2.5) was estimated by using the satellite data we also investigated the use of fuels and chimneys as indoor air pollution. A two-level (individual level and community level) linear model was applied to examine the association between long-term exposure to ambient PM(2.5) combined with indoor air pollution and the handgrip strength. Results: A total of 13 175 individuals aged 50 years and over were included for analysis. The handgrip strength was (26.67±0.54) kg. Ambient PM(2.5) was found to be significantly associated with the risk of decreased handgrip strength. Outdoor PM(2.5) concentration was negatively correlated with handgrip strength (β=-0.23, 95%CI: -0.31 - -0.14) decrease in handgrip strength after adjusting for gender, age, residence, education, household assets, intake of vegetables and fruits, smoking and drinking, physical activity. In rural area, compared to those who used solid fuel, use of clean fuel increased (β=1.41, 95%CI: 0.36-2.46) handgrip strength. But in urban area, we did not find any statistically significant association between the use of clean fuel and handgrip strength (β=0.19, 95%CI: -0.95-1.32). Conclusion: This study found that long-term exposure to ambient PM(2.5) combined with indoor air pollution was significantly associated with low handgrip strength among people aged 50 years and over, this suggested that ambient PM(2.5) might serve as one of the risk factors for low physical function seen in the people aged 50 years and over.

Abstract
With accelerating and rapid ageing in China, there is an urgent need to collect reliable, valid and cross-nationally comparable data on health in the elderly to provide basis for richer and empirical analysis on the changing health over one's life course and compression of morbidity. To meet the demands of this growing special population, planning and preparing on related social protection mechanisms (health and pension systems) should also based on evidence-based decision-making process. Based on long-term follow-up, large scale cohort study is indispensible for the etiology of common chronic diseases and disabling conditions. This study aims to introduce the background, project objectives, contents, baseline characteristics, strength and weakness as well as prospect, related to the Study on global AGEing and adult health in China.

Abstract
Thyroid cancer is a common endocrine malignancy. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) were reported to regulate cellular processes in tumorigenesis and development. In this study, we mainly investigated the role of Homeobox Transcript Antisense Intergenic RNA (HOTAIR) in thyroid cancer and its potential mechanism. RT-qPCR was conducted to evaluate the expression of HOTAIR and miR-17-5p in thyroid cancer tissues and 4 cell lines (TPC-1, FTC-133, B-CPAP and SW579). MTT assay was employed to analyze the cell viability of TPC-1 and FTC-133 cells. The migration and invasion of TPC-1 and FTC-133 cells were detected via Transwell assay. Luciferase reporter assay was used to validate the target of HOTAIR. In vivo tumor formation assay in nude mice was applied to investigate the impact of HOTAIR on thyroid cancer tumorigenesis. HOTAIR was significantly upregulated, while miR-17-5p was downregulated in thyroid cancer tissues and cells, and the miR-17-5p expression in thyroid cancer tissues was inversely correlated with HOTAIR expression. Silencing HOTAIR significantly inhibited the cell viability, migration and invasion of TPC-1 and FTC-133 cells. MiR-17-5p was a target of HOTAIR and counter-regulated by HOTAIR. Introduction of miR-17-5p also inhibited the cell viability, migration and invasion in TPC-1 and FTC-133 cells. Moreover, introduction of miR-17-5p reversed knockdown of HOTAIR-mediated the suppression effects on the cell viability, migration and invasion in thyroid cancer cells. Additionally, knockdown of HOTAIR inhibited thyroid cancer tumorigenesis in mice. Our results suggested HOTAIR promotes cell viability, migration and invasion in thyroid cancer cells by sponging miR-17-5p.
