Abstract
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has imposed a challenge on global healthcare and has tremendously impacted everyone's lives. Vaccination is one of the most effective and vital strategies to halt the pandemic. However, new-onset and relapsed kidney diseases have been reported after COVID-19 vaccination. This narrative review was conducted to collect published data and generalize some hypotheses for the pathogenesis of renal side effects of COVID-19 vaccines. Methods: A systematic literature search of articles reporting renal adverse reactions, including in adults and children, in the PubMed and Web of Science databases until August 2022 was performed. Results: A total of 130 cases reporting a renal adverse reaction following COVID-19 vaccination from 90 articles were included in this review, of which 90 (69%) were new-onset kidney diseases, while 40 (31%) were relapsed kidney diseases. The most frequent renal side effects of COVID-19 vaccination were minimal change disease (52 cases), IgA nephropathy (48 cases), antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody vasculitis (16 cases), and acute interstitial nephritis (12 cases). Other renal side effects occurred at a much lower frequency. Follow-up data were available for 105 patients, and 100 patients (95%) responded to the treatments. Conclusions: The number of reported cases is far less than the hundreds of millions of vaccinations, and the benefit of COVID-19 vaccination far outweighs its risks. This review will assist healthcare professionals, particularly nephrologists, who should be aware of these side effects and recognize them early and treat them efficiently.

Abstract
Pituitary apoplexy often manifests with a severe headache and is often caused by bleeding in a pituitary adenoma, which is common and often undiagnosed. The pituitary gland is damaged when the tumour suddenly enlarges due to bleeding. Bleeding into the pituitary can block blood supply to the pituitary gland. The larger the tumour, the higher the risk of a future pituitary apoplexy. Since only few cases have been reported, the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine is unlikely to cause pituitary apoplexy. Patients with new-type headache require neurological evaluation and may require cerebral imaging to rule out bleeding, ischemia, venous sinus thrombosis, meningitis, encephalitis, pituitary apoplexy, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome, dissection, or migraine.

Abstract
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and analgesics are the most commonly used drugs worldwide and their availability over-the-counter is increasing. The aim of this study was to examine the frequency of their use as well as the awareness of the associated risk of side effects in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) compared to the patients at general practice (GP) offices. We found that 88.5% of the CKD and 97.1% of the GP group used NSAIDs and/or analgesics (p < 0.0001). Paracetamol was chosen the most often by both study groups, but the proportion of patients taking paracetamol was significantly higher in the CKD group (p < 0.006). On the contrary, the proportion of patients taking ibuprofen was significantly higher in GP group (p < 0.0001). Furthermore, almost 37% of CKD and 60% of GP patients never consult with their doctor before taking NSAIDs or analgesics. The influence of advertisements on the decision to take these drugs was found to be marginal in both groups. In conclusion, the NSAIDs and/or analgesics use is very common. The differences between the studied cohorts in self-decision making and the type of drugs used between the studied cohorts warrant tailored educational approaches.

Abstract
People who inject drugs (PWID) are a population exposed to many genotoxicants and with a high prevalence of HCV infection. Direct-acting antiviral (DAA) regimens are now widely used to treat chronic HCV infection. Although side effects to treatment are currently rare, the long-term effects such as suspicions of de novo hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) occurrence or HCC recurrence and cardiac defects are still up for debate. Given the structure of DAAs, the molecules have a potential mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) genotoxicity. We have previously reported acute mtDNA toxicity of three DAA regimens among PWID with a strong impact on the rate of mtDNA deletion, less on the quantity of mtDNA copy per cell at sustained viral response at 12 weeks (SVR12). Herein, we report the mtDNA parameters nine months after drug discontinuation. We observed that the percentage of the deleted mtDNA genome increased over time. No exposure to any other genotoxicants during this period was associated with a high deletion percentage, suggesting that the replicative advantage of the deleted molecules outweighed their elimination processes. Such observation calls for longer-term follow-up and may contribute to the molecular basis of subclinical side effects of DAA treatments.

Abstract
Background Informed consent is a legal and ethical prerequisite for psychotherapy. However, in clinical practice, consistent strategies to obtain informed consent are scarce. Inconsistencies exist regarding the overall validity of informed consent for psychotherapy as well as the disclosure of potential mechanisms and negative effects, the latter posing a moral dilemma between patient autonomy and nonmaleficence. Objective This protocol describes a randomized controlled web-based trial aiming to investigate the efficacy of a one-session optimized informed consent consultation. Methods The optimized informed consent consultation was developed to provide information on the setting, efficacy, mechanisms, and negative effects via expectation management and shared decision-making techniques. A total of 122 participants with an indication for psychotherapy will be recruited. Participants will take part in a baseline assessment, including a structured clinical interview for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-fifth edition (DSM-5) disorders. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned either to a control group receiving an information brochure about psychotherapy as treatment as usual (n=61) or to an intervention group receiving treatment as usual and the optimized informed consent consultation (n=61). Potential treatment effects will be measured after the treatment via interview and patient self-report and at 2 weeks and 3 months follow-up via web-based questionnaires. Treatment expectation is the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes include the capacity to consent, decisional conflict, autonomous treatment motivation, adherence intention, and side-effect expectations. Results This trial received a positive ethics vote by the local ethics committee of the Center for Psychosocial Medicine, University-Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany on April 1, 2021, and was prospectively registered on June 17, 2021. The first participant was enrolled in the study on August 5, 2021. We expect to complete data collection in December 2022. After data analysis within the first quarter of 2023, the results will be submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals in summer 2023. Conclusions If effective, the optimized informed consent consultation might not only constitute an innovative clinical tool to meet the ethical and legal obligations of informed consent but also strengthen the contributing factors of psychotherapy outcome, while minimizing nocebo effects and fostering shared decision-making. Abstract
Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are prescribed for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and some other cancers. The objective was to predict and rank TKI-related adverse events (AEs), including under-reported or preclinical AEs, using novel text mining. First, k-means clustering of 2575 clinical CML TKI abstracts separated TKIs by significant (p < 0.05) AE type: gastrointestinal (bosutinib); edema (imatinib); pulmonary (dasatinib); diabetes (nilotinib); cardiovascular (ponatinib). Next, we propose a novel cross-domain text mining method utilizing a knowledge graph, link prediction, and hub node network analysis to predict new relationships. Cross-domain text mining of 30+ million articles via SemNet predicted and ranked known and novel TKI AEs. Three physiology-based tiers were formed using unsupervised rank aggregation feature importance. Tier 1 ranked in the top 1%: hematology (anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, hypocellular marrow); glucose (diabetes, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome); iron (deficiency, overload, metabolism), cardiovascular (hypertension, heart failure, vascular dilation); thyroid (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, parathyroid). Tier 2 ranked in the top 5%: inflammation (chronic inflammatory disorder, autoimmune, periodontitis); kidney (glomerulonephritis, glomerulopathy, toxic nephropathy). Tier 3 ranked in the top 10%: gastrointestinal (bowel regulation, hepatitis, pancreatitis); neuromuscular (autonomia, neuropathy, muscle pain); others (secondary cancers, vitamin deficiency, edema). Results suggest proactive TKI patient AE surveillance levels: regular surveillance for tier 1, infrequent surveillance for tier 2, and symptom-based surveillance for tier 3.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Herpes zoster (HZ), which is caused by reactivation of the latent varicella zoster virus, was not listed as a side effect of any vaccines until the introduction of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine. This study used a nationwide population database to examine whether the HZ risk is increased after receiving the influenza vaccination. METHODS This population-based retrospective self-controlled case series evaluated the association between influenza vaccine exposure and HZ risk. Data were collected from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database between 2015 and 2017. Patients with HZ diagnosed within 6 months before and after receiving the influenza vaccination were included. After receiving the influenza vaccine, the first 15 and 30 days were defined as risk intervals, while the other periods were defined as control intervals. Poisson regression was used to compare the incidence rate ratio (IRR) for HZ during the risk interval vs. the control interval. RESULTS In total, 13,728 patients were diagnosed with HZ before and after receiving the influenza vaccine. The IRR for days 1-15 was significantly higher (IRR = 1.11; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.02-1.20), but insignificant for days 1-30 (IRR = 1.04; 95% CI, 0.98-1.10). In a subgroup analysis, the IRRs were significantly higher in participants, including 50-64 years old (1.16; 95% CI, 1.02-1.33), males (1.14; 95% CI, 1.01-1.28), and healthier individuals (i.e., no history of cancer or autoimmune diseases). CONCLUSIONS There was a slight increase in risk of HZ in people receiving influenza vaccine in the first 1-15 days after vaccination.

Abstract
Liposomes are the most widely used nanocarrier platform for the delivery of therapeutic and diagnostic agents, and a number of liposomes have been approved for use in clinical practice. After systemic administration, most liposomes are cleared by macrophages in the mononuclear phagocyte system, such as the liver and bone marrow (BM). However, the majority of studies have focused on investigating the therapeutic results of liposomal drugs, and too few studies have evaluated the potential side effects of empty nanocarriers on the functions of macrophages in the mononuclear phagocyte system. Here, we evaluate the potential effects of empty liposomes on the functions of BM niche macrophages. Following liposome administration, we observed lipid droplet (LD) accumulation in cultured primary macrophages and BM niche macrophages. We found that these LD-accumulating macrophages, similar to foam cells, exhibited increased expression of inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and IL-6. We further provided evidence that liposome deposition and degradation induced LD biogenesis on the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and subsequently disturbed endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis and activated the inositol-requiring transmembrane kinase/endoribonuclease 1α/NF-κB signaling pathway, which is responsible for the inflammatory activation of macrophages after liposome engulfment. Finally, we also showed the side effects of dysfunctional BM niche macrophages on hematopoiesis in mice, such as the promotion of myeloid-biased output and impairment of erythropoiesis. This study not only draws attention to the safety of liposomal drugs in clinical practice but also provides new directions for the design of lipid-based drug carriers in preclinical studies.

Abstract
Although neurological/ophthalmologic side effects including headache, vertigo, somnolence, paresthesia, optic neuritis, and optic neuropathy are listed as side effects in the medication guidelines for ibuprofen, transient tunnel vision and altered consciousness after a single dose of ibuprofen have not been reported. The patient was a 48-year-old man who experienced sudden-onset tunnel vision for a few seconds, followed by an altered state of consciousness for 20 minutes, during which he was communicating with his boss in an altered manner, 15 minutes after having taken 200 mg of ibuprofen. After awakening, he required 2 to 3 hours to return to his premorbid condition. No tongue biting or secessus occurred. Because his blood pressure, blood tests, blood gas analysis, electrocardiography, and electroencephalography results were normal and cerebral magnetic resonance imaging only showed non-specific spots in the subcortical white matter, the condition was attributed to ibuprofen. This case shows that a single dose of ibuprofen can cause severe side effects in the form of tunnel vision and altered consciousness. In some patients, single doses of ibuprofen may cause severe side effects.

Abstract
Background: This study compared the adverse events (AEs) of the second and third doses of BNT162b2, as well as investigated the impact of vaccine recipients’ background and vaccination interval on the AEs of the third dose. Methods: We conducted a questionnaire survey of AEs among health care workers at Osaka University Dental Hospital. Chi-square tests were performed to compare AEs to the administration of second and third vaccine doses. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors influencing the presence of AEs using age, sex, comorbidities, and the vaccination interval. Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was calculated to investigate the correlation between age, vaccination interval, and severity of each AE. Results: The third dose of BNT162b2 was associated with significantly more frequent or milder AEs than the second dose. Logistic regression analyses detected significant differences in six items of AEs by age, three by sex, two by comorbidities, and zero by vaccination interval. Consistently, the risk of AEs was greater among younger persons, females, and those without comorbidities. Significant negative correlations were detected between age and vaccination interval, and between age and the severity of most AEs. Conclusions: Young, female, and having no comorbidities are risk factors for AEs after the third dose of BNT162b2, while vaccination interval is not.

Abstract
Background: Risk communication is necessary to improve the booster vaccination rate, but Vietnam does not have a system to collect and disclose such information. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to clarify adverse reactions and their frequency in the early period after booster vaccination, and to obtain primary data for improving the booster vaccination rate. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among adults aged ≥18 years. Clinical data were collected 14 days after booster vaccination by using a standard questionnaire. Results: A total of 1322 participants were included with median age = 23 and sex ratio (Male/Female) = 0.53. AstraZeneca was the most commonly used vaccine for the first and second doses, while Pfizer was the most commonly used vaccine for booster shots. Injection site pain, fatigue, and myalgia were the most common side effect reported (71.9%, 28.1%, and 21.8%, respectively). Compared to previous COVID-19 vaccine injections, 81.9% of participants reported that their symptoms were similar or milder after receiving the booster dose. They were more likely to present injection site pain (OR = 1.43, p < 0.0001) and lymphadenopathy (OR = 4.76, p < 0.0001) after receiving the booster shot. Fever (OR = 0.33, p < 0.0001) and fatigue (OR = 0.77, p = 0.002) were less often reported after booster shots compared to the first and second injections. The severity of symptoms occurring after booster dose versus first and second doses increased significantly with each additional year of age and among participants receiving the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Conclusion: Adverse reactions to booster vaccination are minor and their incidence is the same as for the first or the second vaccination. Multicenter studies with larger sample sizes on the side effects and safety of COVID-19 vaccine booster shots need to be conducted to make the population less worried, in order to increase the vaccination rate, to protect individuals’ and communities’ health.

Abstract
The COVID‑19 pandemic has had a significant public health impact globally, with inoculation now paramount in limiting the spread of the disease. Although the safety and efficacy profiles of COVID‑19 vaccines are well documented, it is upon the medical community to be aware of adverse effects to appropriately advise and treat patients. We report the case of a 39‑year‑old female who was hospitalized with optic neuritis (ON) 1 week after her second dose of the Pfizer‑BioNTech (BNT162b2) COVID‑19 vaccine. The patient did not have any significant medical history, including personal or familial history of multiple sclerosis or any other demyelinating disease, other than prior COVID‑19 infection. She had since made a full recovery and tested negative at the time of hospitalization for ON. Over the course of her admission, the patient's visual acuity (VA) deteriorated from 20/400 to no light perception. After methylprednisolone was ineffective, she was started on plasmapheresis (PLEX) therapy which resulted in mild improvement of VA. To our knowledge and after a thorough PubMed literature search, this is the first reported case of isolated ON associated with COVID‑19 vaccination.

Sex-Based Evaluation of Lipid Profile in Postoperative Adjuvant Mitotane Treatment for Adrenocortical Carcinoma. Biomedicines 2022; 10:biomedicines10081873. Abstract
Background: A wide interindividual variability in mitotane concentrations and treatment-related dyslipidemia have been reported. Here, we aimed to underline the sex-related differences in the lipid profile in patients that underwent radical surgery of adrenocortical carcinoma during treatment with adjuvant mitotane. Methods: A chromatographic method was used to quantify the drug in plasma collected from adult patients with complete tumor resection, also considering active metabolite o,p’-DDE. Results: We observed different lipid profiles between males and females and between pre- and post-menopausal women. Considering the mitotane-related effects on lipid levels, we observed that higher drug concentrations were correlated with higher HDL in all the considered groups (p < 0.001), with total cholesterol both in males (p = 0.005) and females (p = 0.036), with triglycerides in postmenopausal females (p = 0.002) and with LDL in male patients (p < 0.001). Increases in o,p’-DDE were positively correlated with HDL levels in all the groups (p < 0.001) and negatively with LDL in all the groups (males p = 0.008, pre- and post-menopausal females p < 0.001), with total cholesterol in pre- (p = 0.016) and post-menopausal women (p = 0.01) and with triglycerides in premenopausal females (p = 0.005). Conclusions: This is the first study designed to evaluate sex differences in lipoprotein and lipid levels during mitotane adjuvant treatment; the results suggest that a gender and personalized approach could be useful to prevent and manage alterations in the lipid profile.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a pandemic, and vaccines remain the only effective tools available for ending it. However, their side effects, such as syncope, which mimics sudden cardiac death, are serious concerns. We herein report 6 cases of delayed vasovagal syncope and presyncope (VVR) caused by COVID-19 vaccination among 25,530 COVID-19 patients. The prevalence of delayed VVR due to COVID-19 vaccination was 0.026%. In addition, no delayed VVR was found among 17,386 patients who received the influenza vaccine. Delayed VVR is likely to be overlooked if medical staff are not aware of this symptom. This report provides significant information regarding effects of COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is caused by infections of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which can be preventable by vaccinations. In Japan, although about 3,000 people died of cervical cancer annually, the HPV vaccination rate has remained extremely low in the eligible population, since many Japanese have been concerned that "diverse symptoms," such as chronic pain, movement disorders, and cognitive impairment, may occur as adverse reactions after HPV vaccination. The concern has been raised by media coverage of the ongoing HPV vaccine lawsuits, in which the plaintiffs complained of their symptoms caused by HPV vaccination. The claims have been based on the alleged pathogenic findings in research articles on HPV vaccines, summarized in the document prepared by the plaintiffs' attorneys. We critically evaluated these articles, in which the authors proposed the following findings/hypothesis: (i) molecular mimicry between HPV L1 and human proteins leads to the production of cross-reactive antibodies; and (ii) HPV vaccine injection in mice causes damage in the brain, a mouse model for "HPV vaccine associated neuro-immunopathic syndrome (HANS)." We found that they were based mainly on the findings from a few research groups and that all the articles had flaws in the method, result, or discussion sections. Our current evaluation would help better understand the validity of the findings, which have been often misunderstood as the truth by the general public. We propose to accumulate high-quality data on potential adverse events following HPV vaccination and to continue critically evaluating them.

Abstract
WHAT IS KNOWN AND OBJECTIVE Alpha-blockers have been associated with orthostatic hypotension (OH). We aimed to assess the prevalence of OH measured with beat-to-beat blood pressure monitoring in older male outpatients who used alpha-blockers for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). In addition, we investigated associations of OH with duration of alpha-blocker use, concomitant medication use and comorbidity. METHODS Cross-sectional explorative study in a urology outpatient clinic. Older white males ≥65 years using alpha-blockers for LUTS were included. Blood pressure responses to standing up from supine were recorded using a validated beat-to-beat blood pressure device (Finapres). Prevalence rates were derived from the beat-to-beat data to include OH measured between 60-110 s (OH), impaired recovery OH at 40 s (OH[40]), initial OH (IOH) and normal orthostatic response. Subgroups were defined based on duration of alpha-blocker use, polypharmacy, and Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), to obtain relative risks. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Sixty-five patients were included. Median age was 75 years (range 65-92). The prevalence of OH was 7.7% (n = 5). The prevalence of OH(40) was 16.9% (n = 11) and of IOH 38.5% (n = 25). Thirty-six patients (55.4%) had a normal orthostatic response. The relative risk of OH for the subgroup using ≥ $$ \ge $$ 10 medications (n = 13) was 6.0 (95%CI 1.1-32.3). For the subgroup with multimorbidity (CCI ≥3, n = 11) this was 7.4 (95%CI 1.4-39.0). Recent initiation of alpha-blocker use (<3 months) did not increase OH risk (RR 0.6 [95%CI 0.1-5.1]). WHAT IS NEW AND CONCLUSION The overall prevalence of OH was low and comparable to age-matched population prevalence, suggesting that the relative contribution of alpha-blockers to OH was small. However, OH risk significantly increased in patients with multimorbidity or polypharmacy. For these patients, the benefits of starting alpha-blockers for LUTS should be weighed against the increased risk of OH.

Abstract
Background: Former studies have revealed that fluoroquinolone (FQ) can induce aortic expansion and rupture. While FQ is widely used in perioperative anti-infection therapy, its impact on graft patency and patient survival is unknown. Methods: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) data were extracted from the MIMIC-III database. Chi-square tests, Fisher’s exact tests, t-tests, or ANOVAs were used to compare baseline data between groups determined by FQ therapy status, depending on the data type. Propensity score matching was used to establish a balanced cohort. Cox regression was used to investigate the impact of FQ on CABG patient survival, whereas paired t-tests were used to analyze secondary results. Results: Of the 5030 patients who underwent CABG, 937 (18.6%) received oral or intravenous FQ therapy. Using propensity score matching, these 819 patients were successfully matched with 819 controls in a 1:1 ratio. Cox regression showed that FQ significantly decreased survival among CABG patients (HR: 1.62, 95% CI: 1.21−2.15, p = 0.001). Furthermore, FQ usage was associated with longer hospitalization (<0.0001), ICU duration (<0.0001), ventilation period (<0.0001), and duration of vasopressor administration (<0.0001). Conclusions: Perioperative FQ therapy was associated with worse prognosis and a more difficult recovery among patients with CABG.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) can be increased with the use of drugs. However, it has been described heterogeneously in the literature. OBJECTIVE The study aims to systematically review epidemiological studies dealing with drug-induced sudden death, to describe their methodologies and to summarize the results found. METHODS A scoping review has been carried out using Medline electronic database. The search was limited up to 2020. Epidemiological studies were included, and case-reports or case-series were excluded. RESULTS Out of 3,114 potential articles, 74 were included. Most studies originated from North America (40.5%) or Europe (39.2%). Case-control (47.3%) or cohort (40.5%) studies were the most common designs. The data for outcomes and exposure was retrieved mainly from administrative databases (37.8%) or medical charts/hospital discharge reports (32.4%) but most studies used several sources of information. A composite variable of sudden death or SCD mainly with ventricular arrhythmia was the most frequently used endpoint. Only 18.9% of the studies included autopsy results to confirm the death. Psychotropic drugs were the most frequently studied. An increased risk of different outcomes for typical antipsychotics, tricyclic antidepressants, domperidone, and antiepileptics is suggested. CONCLUSION The methodologies used were highly heterogeneous and the results were, in general, not conclusive. An improvement of the methodologies is needed to achieve a conclusion regarding the risk of SCD associated to drug use.

Abstract
Dietary intake of caffeine has significantly increased in recent years, and beneficial and harmful effects of caffeine have been extensively studied. This paper reviews antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of caffeine as well as its protective effects on cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes mellitus, cancers, and neurodegenerative and liver diseases. In addition, we summarize the side effects of long-term or excessive caffeine consumption on sleep, migraine, intraocular pressure, pregnant women, children, and adolescents. The health benefits of caffeine depend on the amount of caffeine intake and the physical condition of consumers. Moderate intake of caffeine helps to prevent and modulate several diseases. However, the long-term or over-consumption of caffeine can lead to addiction, insomnia, migraine, and other side effects. In addition, children, adolescents, pregnant women, and people who are sensitive to caffeine should be recommended to restrict/reduce their intake to avoid potential adverse effects.

Abstract
Our aim in this study was to develop a validated liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method for the measurement of atorvastatin, rosuvastatin and their major metabolites, furthermore to evaluate patients' adherence to statin therapy and to investigate the effect of statin therapy on various hematological and biochemical parameters. A simple protein precipitation was performed for the extraction of analytes and the extracted samples were injected directly. The levels of drugs and their metabolites were measured by the validated method in a total of 210 patients diagnosed with unstable angina pectoris, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) or non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Various biochemical and hematological parameters were measured. Linearity range for atorvastatin and rosuvastatin were 1.22-2500 ng/mL and 0.97-2000 ng/mL, respectively. The inter-assay CV% for all analytes is ≤ 6%. In patients diagnosed with USAP, STEMI, and NSTEMI, treatment compliance rates were 22.1%, 23.5%, 41.2% for atorvastatin and 36.1%, 40.2%, 67.1% for rosuvastatin, respectively. An economical, simple and reliable measurement method has been developed. Our findings supported the poor patient compliance with statin therapy in the included population. It was observed that 6 months of statin treatment caused slight changes in biochemical and hematological parameters.

Abstract
Axitinib is one of the most potent inhibitors of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor and shows strong antitumor activity toward various malignant tumors. However, its severe side effects affect the quality of life and prognosis of patients. Losartan, which functions as a typical angiotensin receptor blocker, controls the average arterial pressure of patients with essential hypertension and protects against hypertension-related secondary diseases, including proteinuria and cardiovascular injury. To explore the effects of losartan on side effects caused by axitinib and its antitumor activity, several animal experiments were conducted. This study first analyzed and explored the effect of losartan on the amelioration of side effects in Wistar rats caused by axitinib. The results showed that the systolic blood pressure of Wistar rats was significantly increased by about 30 mmHg in 7 days of axitinib treatment, while the combination of losartan significantly reduced the blood pressure rise caused by axitinib. The Miles experimental model and mouse xenograft tumor model were further used to evaluate the effect of losartan on the antitumor effect of axitinib. The result clearly demonstrated that losartan has no significant influence on axitinib-related low vascular permeability and antitumor activity. In summary, our results showed that the combination of axitinib and losartan significantly reduced the side effects and maintained the antitumor effects of axitinib. This study provides information for overcoming VEGF receptor inhibitor-related side effects.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The autoimmune-induced thyroid eye disease (TED) is a frequent extrathyroidal manifestation of Graves' disease and less frequently of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Pathognomonic clinical signs, i.e. exophthalmos, double vision, and inflammation of the orbital tissue cause physical, ophthalmic, and socio-psychological limitations. AREAS COVERED PubMed and MeSH database were searched for specific guidelines, randomized controlled trials, prospective clinical studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses pertaining to the safety profile of currently administered immunosuppressive agents for the treatment of TED. Occurred adverse events (AE), severe AE (SAE), side effects (SE), and severe SE (SSE) were classified according to the standardized medical dictionary for regulatory activities (MedDRA). EXPERT OPINION This novel systematic analysis offers an overview of potential AE, SAE and SE for currently recommended immunosuppressive drugs for the treatment of TED. Non-specific, anti-inflammatory drugs and more specific, targeted biologicals are treatment options for active and severe TED. Critical evaluation of the pertinent literature confirms an evidence-based, beneficial efficacy/risk ratio of the current first-line and second-line treatment recommendations endorsed by the European Society of Endocrinology. However, further large, well-conceived trials are mandatory to enhance our knowledge and experience with novel specific small molecules and/or monoclonal antibodies targeting the key autoantigens in TED.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Gitelman Syndrome (GS) is a genetic tubulopathy frequently linked with insulin resistance. The possibility of developing Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in GS increases with the causes of insulin resistance. Hypokalemia is one of the most common electrolyte disorders in GS, and most diabetic drugs can cause hypokalemia. Considering this dilemma, we presented a DM treatment experience in a GS case. CASE PRESENTATION A 47-year-old male GS patient with a potassium-rich diet complained of weight loss and dry mouth for 2-3 months. The laboratory tests revealed a higher HbA1c level, as high as 11.8%. The remaining abnormal laboratory test results (hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, metabolic alkalosis) indicated a patient with GS. The patient was placed on a metformin+gliclazide-based treatment. Oral potassium and magnesium supplementation were started for the patient whose hypokalemia increased in the first control, and the potassium dose was doubled in the third control. In the first-month follow-up visit, it was observed that the blood potassium level was improved, and hyperglycemia was optimized. CONCLUSION In brief, any treatment for DM can be selected in GS patients with DM by performing frequent electrolyte monitoring. Like our case, oral potassium supplementation was adequate for the metformin + gliclazide combination-coincidence hypokalemia.

Abstract
Our understanding of the involvement of the gut microbiota (GM) in human health has expanded exponentially over the last few decades, particularly in the fields of metabolism, inflammation, and immunology. Immunosuppressive treatment (IST) prescribed to solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients produces GM changes that affect these different processes. This review aims at describing the current knowledge of how IST changes the GM. Overall, SOT followed by IST results in persistent changes in the GM, with a consistent increase in proteobacteria including opportunistic pathobionts. In mice, Tacrolimus induces dysbiosis and metabolic disorders, and alters the intestinal barrier. The transfer of the GM from Tacrolimus-treated hosts confers immunosuppressive properties, suggesting a contributory role for the GM in this drug's efficacy. Steroids induce dysbiosis and intestinal barrier alterations, and also seem to depend partly on the GM for their immunosuppressive and metabolic effects. Mycophenolate Mofetil, frequently responsible for digestive side effects such as diarrhea and colitis, is associated with pro-inflammatory dysbiosis and increased endotoxemia. Alemtuzumab, m-TOR inhibitors, and belatacept have shown more marginal impact on the GM. Most of these observations are descriptive. Future studies should explore the underlying mechanism of IST-induced dysbiosis in order to better understand their efficacy and safety characteristics.
