Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Is the presence of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) associated with more adverse infant outcomes in mothers with different types of diabetes? SUMMARY ANSWER The presence of PCOS implies higher risks of total (medically indicated and spontaneously combined) and spontaneous preterm birth in mothers with non-insulin-treated type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and lower risk of offspring being large for gestational age (LGA) in mothers with insulin-treated diabetes. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY PCOS is suggested to be an independent risk factor for adverse infant outcomes, and it is highly prevalent in mothers with diabetes. However, the impact of PCOS on the associations of different types of maternal diabetes with preterm birth and offspring birth sizes has not been reported. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION This is a population-based cohort study including all live births between 1996 and 2014 in Finland. Children with concurrent maternal diagnoses that could cause signs and symptoms similar to PCOS were excluded. A total of 1 097 753 children were included. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS National registries were linked to identify births with maternal PCOS (n = 24 682), stratified by diabetes types. Logistic regression was used to examine the association of maternal PCOS and comorbid insulin-treated diabetes, non-insulin-treated type 2 diabetes or GDM with offspring LGA and small for gestational age (SGA). Generalized estimating equation was used to assess the risk of preterm birth in relation to maternal PCOS and diabetes. Potential interaction between PCOS and diabetes was evaluated on both additive and multiplicative scales. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE Using mothers with no PCOS and no diabetes as the reference and adjusting for maternal and birth factors, there were higher risks of total (odds ratio (OR) 2.84, 95% CI 2.21 − 3.66 vs. OR 1.91, 95% CI 1.77 − 2.07, P = 0.01) and spontaneous (OR 4.02, 95% CI 2.94 − 5.50 vs. OR 2.35, 95% CI 2.13 − 2.59, P = 0.001) preterm birth for those with PCOS in mothers with non-insulin-treated type 2 diabetes and higher risks of total (OR 1.42, 95% CI 1.27–1.58 vs. OR 0.89, 95% CI 0.86–0.91, P = 0.0001) and spontaneous (OR 1.80, 95% CI 1.59–2.05 vs. OR 1.01, 95% CI 0.98–1.05, P = 0.0001) preterm birth for those with PCOS in mothers with GDM. Among mothers with type 2 diabetes, further adjusting for maternal BMI eliminated the difference in preterm birth risks between those with and those without PCOS, and adjustment for infertility treatment and pre-eclampsia also reduced the preterm risks associated with PCOS significantly. For mothers with GDM, however, the risks of total and spontaneous preterm birth remained higher for those with PCOS following these aforementioned adjustments or stratified analysis. The risk of offspring being LGA was lower for those with PCOS than those without PCOS among mothers with insulin-treated diabetes (OR 18.90, 95% CI 14.21–25.14 vs. OR 32.04, 95% CI 29.79–34.46, P = 0.0001), showing departure from additivity (relative excess risk due to interaction −11.74, 95% CI −16.17 to −7.31, P < 0.001) and multiplicativity (P < 0.001). PCOS did not alter the risk estimate of preterm birth in mothers with insulin-treated diabetes or offspring LGA and SGA in mothers with type 2 diabetes or GDM. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION The register-based diagnoses used in this study captured only women with PCOS seeking medical care and having live births. Including female infertility associated with anovulation as PCOS exposure was a risk for misclassification. Sample sizes for pregestational diabetes were small. Insulin purchase during pregnancy in those without a diabetes diagnosis was not accounted for in the analysis. For patients treated with insulin or other medications, we were unable to assess how they complied with such prescriptions. Also, maternal BMI was recorded only once in early pregnancy, thus the potential influence of gestational weight gain on birth outcomes could not be examined. Data on the causes for preterm birth were not available from the registers. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS The presence of PCOS implied higher risks of total and spontaneous preterm birth in mothers with type 2 diabetes or GDM, and lower risk of offspring being LGA in mothers with insulin-treated diabetes. The higher risks of preterm birth added by PCOS could be explained by prepregnancy BMI or in part by infertility treatment and pre-eclampsia in maternal non-insulin-treated type 2 diabetes, but not in maternal GDM. The differential effects of PCOS on the associations of different types of maternal diabetes with infant outcomes have implications for preventative strategies and clinical counseling for affected pregnancies. Abstract
Background Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the critical causes of adverse perinatal outcomes. A reliable estimate of GDM in early pregnancy would facilitate intervention plans for maternal and infant health care to prevent the risk of adverse perinatal outcomes. This study aims to build an early model to predict GDM in the first trimester for the primary health care centre. Methods Characteristics of pregnant women in the first trimester were collected from eastern China from 2017 to 2019. The univariate analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 statistical software. Characteristics comparison was applied with Mann-Whitney U test for continuous variables and chi-square test for categorical variables. All analyses were two-sided with p < 0.05 indicating statistical significance. The train_test_split function in Python was used to split the data set into 70% for training and 30% for test. The Random Forest model and Logistic Regression model in Python were applied to model the training data set. The 10-fold cross-validation was used to assess the model’s performance by the areas under the ROC Curve, diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Results A total of 1,139 pregnant women (186 with GDM) were included in the final data analysis. Significant differences were observed in age (Z=−2.693, p=0.007), pre-pregnancy BMI (Z=−5.502, p<0.001), abdomen circumference in the first trimester (Z=−6.069, p<0.001), gravidity (Z=−3.210, p=0.001), PCOS (χ2=101.024, p<0.001), irregular menstruation (χ2=6.578, p=0.010), and family history of diabetes (χ2=15.266, p<0.001) between participants with GDM or without GDM. The Random Forest model achieved a higher AUC than the Logistic Regression model (0.777±0.034 vs 0.755±0.032), and had a better discrimination ability of GDM from Non-GDMs (Sensitivity: 0.651±0.087 vs 0.683±0.084, Specificity: 0.813±0.075 vs 0.736±0.087). Conclusions This research developed a simple model to predict the risk of GDM using machine learning algorithm based on pre-pregnancy BMI, abdomen circumference in the first trimester, age, PCOS, gravidity, irregular menstruation, and family history of diabetes. The model was easy in operation, and all predictors were easily obtained in the first trimester in primary health care centres.

Abstract
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a multifaceted disease and is associated with complications for newborns and mothers. The aim of the study was to assess Polish women’s knowledge concerning GDM and their attitude to breastfeeding. As a research tool, an anonymous online survey that included 33 questions, grouped into three main sections—sociodemographic and obstetric variables, risk factors for GDM and neonatal adverse outcomes, and knowledge about breastfeeding—was used and administered online. A total of 410 women aged from 18 to 45 participated in this study. Based on the survey, it was demonstrated that the women had moderate knowledge concerning the maternal risk factors and adverse neonatal outcomes associated with GDM and, additionally, the short- and long-term effects of breastfeeding. Significantly deeper knowledge about GDM, including breastfeeding by GDM mothers, was observed among hyperglycemic mothers in comparison to normoglycemic mothers. However, knowledge concerning the health benefits of breastfeeding was not related to the mothers’ glycemic status. In conclusion, educational programs must include pre-pregnancy education of women and place emphasis on explaining the mechanism of development of GDM and the transformation of GDM to type 2 diabetes. This is crucial for changing the public’s perception of GDM as a temporary, reversible clinical entity.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the main cause of female infertility worldwide and is associated with a substantially increased lifetime risk of comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, psychiatric disorders and gynaecological cancers. Despite its high prevalence (~15%) and substantial economic burden, the aetiology of PCOS remains elusive. The genetic loci linked to PCOS so far account for only ~10% of its heritability, which is estimated at 70%. However, growing evidence suggests that altered epigenetic and developmental programming resulting from hormonal dysregulation of the maternal uterine environment contributes to the pathogenesis of PCOS. Male as well as female relatives of women with PCOS are also at an increased risk of developing PCOS-associated reproductive and metabolic disorders. Although PCOS phenotypes are highly heterogenous, hyperandrogenism is thought to be the principal driver of this condition. Current treatments for PCOS are suboptimal as they can only alleviate some of the symptoms; preventative and targeted treatments are sorely needed. This Review presents an overview of the current understanding of the aetiology of PCOS and focuses on the developmental origin and epigenetic inheritance of this syndrome.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of anovulatory infertility; however, whether women with PCOS and spontaneous or drug-induced ovulatory cycles have the same reproductive potential as non-PCOS controls is a matter of debate. In the present opinion paper, the author takes the opportunity to summarize the collective evidence supporting the hypothesis of reduced fertility potential in women with PCOS, regardless of ovulatory status, and speculate that reduced reproductive potential may be caused by altered oocytes, embryo and endometrial competence, and infertility-related co-morbidities as well as an increased risk of pregnancy complications.

Abstract
Hyperandrogenism is the main characteristic of polycystic ovary syndrome, which affects placental function and fetal growth, and leads to reproductive and metabolic dysfunction in female offspring. Adiponectin acts on the placenta and may exert endocrine effects on the developing fetus. This study aims to investigate if maternal and/or fetal adiponectin can prevent metabolic and reproductive dysfunction in prenatal androgenized (PNA) female offspring. Adiponectin transgenic (APNtg) and wild-type dams received dihydrotestosterone/vehicle injections between gestational days 16.5-18.5 to induce PNA offspring, which were followed for 4 months. Offspring from APNtg dams were smaller than offspring from wild-type dams, independent of genotype. Insulin sensitivity was higher in wild-type mice from APNtg dams compared to wild-types from wild-type dams, and insulin sensitivity correlated with fat mass and adipocyte size. PNA increased visceral fat% and adipocyte size in wild-type offspring from wild-type dams, while wild-type and APNtg offspring from APNtg dams were protected against this effect. APNtg mice had smaller adipocytes than wild-types and this morphology was associated with an increased expression of genes regulating adipogenesis (Ppard, Pparg, Cebpa, and Cebpb) and metabolism (Chrebp and Lpl). Anogenital distance was increased in all PNA-exposed wild-type offspring, but there was no increase in PNA APNtg offspring, suggesting that adiponectin overexpression protects against this effect. In conclusion, elevated adiponectin levels in utero improve insulin sensitivity, reduce body weight and fat mass gain in the adult offspring and protect against PNA-induced visceral adiposity. In conclusion, these data suggest that PNA offspring benefit from prenatal adiponectin supplementation.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Is there is an association between smoking and pregnancy complications in pregnant women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)? SUMMARY ANSWER There is an increased risk of developing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) among women with PCOS who smoke. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Smokers are at increased risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Given the common pathophysiology and shared risk factors between type 2 DM and GDM, we sought to assess whether an association between smoking and the development of GDM exists. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION This is a retrospective population-based study utilizing data from the HCUP-NIS over 11 years from 2004 to 2014. Pregnant women with PCOS who did smoke were compared to pregnant women with PCOS who did not smoke. A second comparison was made between pregnant smokers with and without PCOS. Of the 443 590 women who smoked during pregnancy and the 14 882 women with PCOS, 631 women were both smokers and diagnosed with PCOS. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS The Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project-Nationwide Inpatient Sample (HCUP-NIS) is the largest inpatient sample database in the USA and is composed of hospital inpatient stays submitted by hospitals throughout the entire country. Each year, the database provides information relating to 7 million inpatient stays, including patient characteristics, diagnosis and procedures. The data are representative of ∼20% of admissions to US hospitals across 48 states and the District of Columbia. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE There were no differences in the risks of preterm delivery (aOR1.2; CI 0.8-1.9), placental abruption (aOR1.1; CI 0.4-3.2), pregnancy induced hypertension (aOR1.0; CI 0.7-1.5), rate of operative vaginal delivery (aOR1.5; CI 0.9-2.5) and rates of cesarean section (C/S) (aOR1.0; CI 0.7-1.3) between smoking and non-smoking women with PCOS. A significant association between smoking and GDM was observed in women with PCOS (aOR1.5; CI1.01-2.1). LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION The limitations of our study are its retrospective nature and the fact that it relies on an administrative database. Data regarding smoking and PCOS diagnosis could be skewed due to patients' underreporting, lack of documentation and documentation differences. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS The public health implications of confirming smoking as a risk for GDM among women with PCOS are many. This can lead to earlier screening in pregnancy of smokers for GDM. Earlier initiation of interventions could decrease fetal complications and possibly have an impact on the life and long-term health of the offspring. Future studies are needed in order to assess whether smoking cessation during pregnancy decreases the risk of GDM in that gestation. STUDY FUNDING/COMPETING INTEREST(S) No external funding was used. Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite significant advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology of preeclampsia (PE), there are still many unknowns and controversies in the field. Women undergoing frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) to a hormonally prepared endometrium have been found to have an unexpected increased risk of PE compared to women who receive embryos in a natural FET cycle. The differences in risk have been hypothesized to be related to the absence or presence of a functioning corpus luteum (CL). OBJECTIVE AND RATIONALE To evaluate the literature on secretory products of the CL that could be essential for a healthy pregnancy and could reduce the risk of PE in the setting of FET. SEARCH METHODS For this review, pertinent studies were searched in PubMed/Medline (updated June 2020) using common keywords applied in the field of assisted reproductive technologies, CL physiology and preeclampsia. We also screened the complete list of references in recent publications in English (both animal and human studies) on the topics investigated. Given the design of this work as a narrative review, no formal criteria for study selection or appraisal were utilized. OUTCOMES The CL is a major source of multiple factors regulating reproduction. Progesterone, estradiol, relaxin and vasoactive and angiogenic substances produced by the CL have important roles in regulating its functional lifespan and are also secreted into the circulation to act remotely during early stages of pregnancy. Beyond the known actions of progesterone and estradiol on the uterus in early pregnancy, their metabolites have angiogenic properties that may optimize implantation and placentation. Serum levels of relaxin are almost undetectable in pregnant women without a CL, which precludes some maternal cardiovascular and renal adaptations to early pregnancy. We suggest that an imbalance in steroid hormones and their metabolites and polypeptides influencing early physiologic processes such as decidualization, implantation, angiogenesis and maternal haemodynamics could contribute to the increased PE risk among women undergoing programmed FET cycles. WIDER IMPLICATIONS A better understanding of the critical roles of the secretory products of the CL during early pregnancy holds the promise of improving the efficacy and safety of ART based on programmed FET cycles.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Does polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) confer an independent risk for adverse delivery and neonatal outcomes, based on analysis of the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project-Nationwide Inpatient Sample (HCUP-NIS) database? SUMMARY ANSWER After controlling for all potential confounding effects, women with PCOS are at an increased risk of experiencing preterm pre-labour rupture of membranes (PPROM), pre-term delivery (PTD), placental abruption, caesarean section (C/S) delivery, chorioamnionitis and post-partum maternal infections. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY PCOS may be associated with an increased risk of adverse perinatal outcomes. However, there remain significant gaps in understanding the correlation between PCOS and important delivery and neonatal complications. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION This is a retrospective population-based cohort study utilising data from the HCUP-NIS over 11 years from 2004 to 2014. A cohort of all deliveries between 2004 and 2014 inclusively was created. Within this group, all deliveries to women with PCOS were identified as part of the study group (n = 14 882), and the remaining deliveries were categorised as non-PCOS births and comprised the reference group (n = 9 081 906). PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS The HCUP-NIS is the largest inpatient sample database in the USA and it is comprised of hospital inpatient stays throughout the entire country. It provides information relating to 7 million inpatient stays per year, includes ∼20% of admissions, and represents over 96% of the American population. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE After adjustment for all potential confounders, women with PCOS were more likely to experience PPROM (aOR 1.48, 95% CI 1.20-1.83), PTD (aOR 1.37 95% CI 1.24-1.53) and placental abruption (aOR 1.63, 95% CI 1.30-2.05) and were more likely to deliver by C/S (aOR 1.50, 95% CI 1.40-1.61 (all P < 0.001). Women with PCOS more often developed chorioamnionitis (aOR 1.58, 95% CI 1.34-1.86, P < 0.001) and maternal infections (aOR 1.58, 95% CI 1.36-1.84 (both P < 0.001)). With the exception of multiple gestations (aOR 1.27, 95% CI 1.01-1.62, P = 0.04), there was no difference in the number of women who gave birth to small for gestational age (SGA) infants (aOR 0.97, 95% CI 0.82-1.15, P = 0.72) between the women with PCOS and the reference group. Intrauterine foetal deaths (IUFDs) were also comparable between the two groups (aOR 1.03, 95% CI 0.68-1.59, P = 0.88). However, congenital anomalies were more likely to occur in the offspring of women with PCOS (aOR 1.89, 95% CI 1.51-2.38, P < 0.001). LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION This is a retrospective analysis utilising an administrative database which relies on the accuracy and consistency of the individuals coding the data. There are known limitations in how accurately hospital coding is able to capture perinatal conditions and complications, making it difficult to know with certainty that such events are accurate. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS Women with PCOS are more likely to experience adverse delivery and neonatal outcomes. It is important to additionally consider the risk of all other co-existing conditions frequently encountered in PCOS women, as these risks are additive and place women with PCOS at significantly increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of maternal hepatitis B virus (HBV) status on pregnancy complications and neonatal outcomes for women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART). A total of 7,011 pregnancies achieved by ART were included from a population-based database involving 523,111 pregnancies. Exposures of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) among pregnant women were routinely tested at the first antenatal visit for all pregnancies. We collected pregnancy complications (e.g., gestational diabetes mellitus [GDM], intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy [ICP]), neonatal outcomes and confounding variables from the same database. Univariate and multivariate analyses by adjusting confounders were conducted to evaluate the impact of maternal HBV infection. Prevalence of HBsAg seropositivity (HBsAg+) was 11.34% (95% CI 10.6-12.1) and that of HBsAg and HBeAg co-seropositivity (HBsAg+HBeAg+) was 2.55% (2.1-3.0) among included population. Compared with HBsAg-group, ICP risk in the HBsAg+group was higher (4.03% vs. 1.79%; adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 2.49, 1.65-3.77). Similarly, ICP prevalence in the HBsAg+HBeAg+ group was higher than that in the HBsAg-HBeAg- group (6.47% vs. 1.61%; aOR 4.78, 2.28-9.98). No associations were found between maternal HBV infection (i.e., HBsAg+, HBsAg+HBeAg+, or HBsAg+HBeAg-) and other adverse outcomes for women undergoing ART (i.e., GDM, pre-eclampsia, placental previa, premature separation of placenta, premature rupture of membranes, preterm birth and low birthweight) in this study. In conclusion, maternal HBV infection (HBsAg+or HBsAg+HBeAg+) probably increase ICP risk, but may not associate with other pregnancy complications or neonatal outcomes for pregnant women who underwent ART.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the risk factors for different types of pregnancy losses after embryo transfer (ET). DESIGN Retrospective cohort study. SETTING Reproductive medicine center. PARTICIPANTS A total of 15,210 pregnancies after fresh and frozen-thawed embryo transfer between January 2014 and June 2019. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES The primary outcome was pregnancy loss (PL) throughout the entire pregnancy. Secondary outcomes were non-visualized PL, early miscarriage, late miscarriage, and stillbirth. METHODS The effect of patients' baseline characteristics and IVF/ICSI cycle-specific factors on the risk of PL after fresh and frozen-thawed ET was determined by multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Compared to women under 35 years old, those between 35 and 40 had an increased risk of early miscarriage [odds ratio (OR) 1.49, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.22-1.83], while those after 40 appeared to have an increased risk of both early miscarriage (OR 3.82, 95% CI 2.65-5.51) and late miscarriage (OR 2.79, 95% CI 1.64-4.77). Overweight patients were observed to have a higher risk of late miscarriage (OR 1.38, 95% CI 1.16-1.65), while obese patients showed a higher risk of both early miscarriage (OR 1.47, 95% CI 1.14-1.91) and late miscarriage (OR 1.80, 95% CI 1.33-2.44). Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was an independent risk factor for late miscarriage (OR 1.58, 95% CI 1.28-1.96), and the detrimental effect of PCOS was independent of obesity status. Women with uterine factors had a higher risk of early miscarriage (OR 1.77 (95% CI 1.32-2.38) than women without uterine factors. A negative correlation was observed between the thickness of the endometrium and PL (OR 0.95 95% CI 0.92-0.97). There was an increased risk of PL after frozen-thawed ET versus fresh ET (OR 1.12, 95% CI 1.01-1.24). Women who transferred ≥2 embryos showed lower risk of overall PL than women who transferred a single embryo, with adjusted ORs ranged from 0.57~0.94. However, women who transferred three embryos demonstrated a higher risk of late miscarriage than women who transferred a single embryo (OR 2.23, 95% CI 1.36-3.66). CONCLUSIONS Patients with uterine factors demonstrated higher risk of early miscarriage and stillbirth. Being overweight, PCOS, and transferring three embryos was associated with late miscarriage. Being aged 40 and over, obese, and using frozen embryo transfer was associated with early and late miscarriage.

Abstract
Background: To investigate insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism in pregnant lean and overweight polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients vs. lean and overweight controls without PCOS. Methods: Prospective cohort study on 67 pregnant women (31 with PCOS and 36 controls, subdivided into overweight or obese and normal weight). All women underwent a 2h-OGTT including glucose, insulin, and C-peptide in early- and mid-gestation and were followed-up until delivery. Results: Insulin sensitivity and glucometabolic parameters were comparable between PCOS patients and controls, whereas marked differences were observed between overweight/obese and lean mothers. Impaired whole-body insulin sensitivity at early pregnancy is mainly a consequence of higher BMI (body mass index; p < 0.001) compared to PCOS (p = 0.216), whereby no interaction between overweight/obesity and PCOS was observed (p = 0.194). Moreover, overweight was significantly associated with gestational diabetes (p = 0.0003), whereas there were no differences between women with and without PCOS (p = 0.51). Birth weight was inversely related to whole-body insulin sensitivity (rho = −0.33, p = 0.014) and positively associated with higher pregestational BMI (rho = 0.33, p = 0.012), whereas there was no association with PCOS. Conclusions: Impaired insulin action was mainly a consequence of overweight rather than PCOS. Our data suggest that overweight is more relevant than PCOS for the effects on insulin sensitivity and impaired glucose metabolism.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In women of reproductive age, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) constitutes the most frequent endocrine disorder. Women with PCOS are considered to typically belong to an age and sex group which is at lower risk for severe COVID-19. MAIN BODY Emerging data link the risk of severe COVID-19 with certain factors such as hyper-inflammation, ethnicity predisposition, low vitamin D levels, and hyperandrogenism, all of which have known direct associations with PCOS. Moreover, in this common female patient population, there is markedly high prevalence of multiple cardio-metabolic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, and hypertension, which may significantly increase the risk for adverse COVID-19-related outcomes. This strong overlap of risk factors for both worse PCOS cardio-metabolic manifestations and severe COVID-19 should be highlighted for the clinical practice, particularly since women with PCOS often receive fragmented care from multiple healthcare services. Comprehensively informing women with PCOS regarding the potential risks from COVID-19 and how this may affect their management is also essential. CONCLUSION Despite the immense challenges posed by the COVID-19 outbreak to the healthcare systems in affected countries, attention should be directed to maintain a high standard of care for complex patients such as many women with PCOS and provide relevant practical recommendations for optimal management in the setting of this fast moving pandemic.
