Abstract
Background Persistent HPV16 infection is the leading risk factor for developing cervical cancer. Anti-L1 antibodies against HPV16 produced in HPV16 infections play diverse roles in the clearance of virus infection and prevention of persistence. It has been implicated that the cervicovaginal squamous epithelial cells actually express TRIM21 and that some HPV16 particles could escape leaky endosomal compartment into the cytosol and that Fc receptor TRIM21 directly neutralize infection by targeting antibody-opsonized viruses for proteasomal degradation. We explored whether anti-L1 antibody opsonized HPV16 pseudovirus (PsV) entered into the cytosol could be neutralized by TRIM21-mediated activation of a proteasomal pathway to reduce the chance of persistent HPV16 infection. Methods HPV16 PsV were generated and extracted in HEK 293FT cells co-transfected with pcDNA3.1-eGFP and p16sheLL plasmids according to the standard protocol. The HPV16 PsV with capsid protein L1 was characterized by fluorescence microscopy and western blot, and the HPV16 PsV titer and anti-L1-bound PsV entry efficiency were detected by flow cytometry. The expressions of transcription factors (TF) and cytokines elicited by the TRIM21-activated proteasomal pathway were confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay and RT-qPCR. The changes in HPV16 PsV load with or without inhibitors in the infected HEK 293FT cells were determinated by qPCR. Results Simultaneous transfection with pcDNA3.1-eGFP and p16sheLL plasmids into the HEK 293FT cells resulted in the self-assembly of HPV16 PsV with capsid protein L1. Both HPV16 PsV and anti-L1-bound HPV16 PsV could infect HEK 293FT cells. Anti-L1-bound PsV up-regulated TRIM21 mediated-activation of proteasome and increased expressions of TF and cytokines in the infected cells where HPV16 PsV load reduced by ~ 1000-fold in the presence of anti-L1 antibody, but inhibition of proteasomal activity increased HPV16 PsV load. Conclusion Our preliminary results indicate that anti-L1 antibody entered with HPV16 PsV into the cells could mediate degradation of HPV16 PsV by TRIM21-activated proteasomal pathway intracellularly, giving anti-capsid protein L1 antibody a role in host defense of persistent HPV16 infection.

Abstract
Cervical cancer (CC) is a major health care problem in low- and middle-income countries, necessitating the development of low-cost and easy-to-use assays for CC detection at point-of-care (POC) settings. An integrated microfluidic electrochemical assay for CC detection, named IMEAC, is presented that has the potential for identifying CC circulating DNA in whole blood samples. The IMEAC consists of two main modules: a plasma separator device that isolates plasma from whole blood with high purity and without the need for any external forces connected to a graphene oxide-based electrochemical biosensor that uses specific probe molecules for the detection of CC circulating DNA molecules. We fully characterize the performance of the individual modules and show that the integrated assay can be utilized for target DNA detection in whole blood samples, thus potentially transforming CC detection and screening at remote locations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In Japan, the government suspended HPV vaccine recommendation in 2013, resulting in dropping vaccination uptake to almost zero. We conducted four serial surveys on our colleague' attitude to HPV vaccination between 2014 and 2021. Here, we evaluate the result of the survey in 2021 and compare it to previous surveys. METHODS The subjects were 567 obstetricians and gynecologists who had been trained in our university hospital or our affiliated hospitals. We used a questionnaire similar in format to those used in 2014, 2017, and 2019. RESULTS A total of 340 doctors (60.0%) completed the survey. Among them, 93.2% (317/340) of respondents thought that the government should restart HPV vaccination recommendation, and that 63.2% (215/340) think male teenagers should also vaccinate against HPV. The percentage of teenaged daughters inoculated with HPV vaccination after Japanese government had suspended its recommendation was 43.5% (20/46), an increasing trend from the previous surveys. 39 out of the 46 daughters (84.8%) would be expected to receive full HPV vaccination after they take junior high school entrance examination or after 9-valent HPV vaccination is designated as a national routine-immunization. CONCLUSION This study revealed increasing number of our colleagues think HPV vaccination is necessary for prevention of cervical cancer. The Japanese government's decision to resume its recommendation of the HPV vaccine in November 2021 will lead to a change in the public's thinking and behavior toward the HPV vaccine.

Abstract
Background In 2009, Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) integrated cervical cancer screening within HIV care using visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and Pap smear cytology. Objectives We evaluated utilisation of cervical cancer screening and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among women living with HIV (WLHIV) receiving HIV care at KNH. Method From November 2019 to February 2020, WLHIV aged ≥ 14 years were invited to participate in a survey following receipt of routine HIV services. We assessed awareness of cervical cancer, uptake of cervical cancer screening, uptake of the HPV vaccine, and barriers to utilisation of these services. In a subset of survey participants, focus group discussions (FGDs) were also conducted to identify screening barriers. Results Overall, 305 WLHIV participated in the survey. Median age was 36 years (interquartile range [IQR]: 28–43), 41% were married, and 38% completed secondary education. Most (90%) had HIV RNA < 1000 copies/mL. Awareness of cervical cancer was high (84%), although only 45% of WLHIV had screened for cervical cancer at the referral hospital and only 13% knew how to prevent high-risk HPV. No participants had received an HPV vaccination. Older age, higher education, and knowledge of the HPV vaccine were associated with higher likelihood of cervical cancer screening (P < 0.05). In FGDs, barriers to utilising the services included user fees, fear of the procedure impacting fertility, age and gender of the provider, and long waiting times. Conclusion Despite integration with HIV services, the utilisation of cervical cancer screening was low among WLHIV and implementation barriers contributed to low utilisation.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) develop spontaneous infection of Papillomavirus (PV); thus, potentially beneficial for modeling human PV (HPV) infection study. Contrary to human origin, infection in cynomolgus monkeys does not always show evident clinical symptoms of cervical cancer. The absence of cervical cancer clinical symptoms leads us to investigate the molecular mechanism of the HPV infection in cynomolgus monkeys. This study aimed to investigate the messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) expression levels of KI67 and P53 genes, majorly known as biomarker oncogenesis of PV infection.
Materials and Methods: The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique was used with MY11/MY09 primer to screen PV in cynomolgus monkey, further grouped as positive-PV and negative-PV infection groups. Real-time quantitative PCR was also applied to quantify the mRNA expression levels of KI67 and P53 genes in animals.
Results: Increased expression of mRNA level of KI67 genes was significantly higher in Positive- PV group than negative-PV group. In contrast, the P53 mRNA expression level increased markedly higher in the negative-PV group than in the positive-PV group.
Conclusion: Our study describes the potential of cynomolgus monkeys as a spontaneous oncogenesis model of PV infection-type. However, we used a limited number of cancer genetic markers. So, further study of other genetic markers is required to prove that cervical cancer could be developed naturally in cynomolgus monkeys.

Abstract
Cancer cells, as well as surrounding stromal and inflammatory cells, form an inflammatory tumor microenvironment (TME) to promote all stages of carcinogenesis. As an emerging post-translational modification (PTM) of serine and threonine residues of proteins, O-linked-N-Acetylglucosaminylation (O-GlcNAcylation) regulates diverse cancer-relevant processes, such as signal transduction, transcription, cell division, metabolism and cytoskeletal regulation. Recent studies suggest that O-GlcNAcylation regulates the development, maturation and functions of immune cells. However, the role of protein O-GlcNAcylation in cancer-associated inflammation has been less explored. This review summarizes the current understanding of the influence of protein O-GlcNAcylation on cancer-associated inflammation and the mechanisms whereby O-GlcNAc-mediated inflammation regulates tumor progression. This will provide a theoretical basis for further development of anti-cancer therapies.

Abstract
Malignant tumors pose a serious threat to human health and have high fatality rates. Conventional clinical anti-tumor treatment is mainly based on traditional surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and interventional therapy, and even though these treatment methods are constantly updated, a satisfactory efficacy is yet to be obtained. Therefore, research on novel cancer treatments is being actively pursued. We review the classification of gene therapies of malignant tumors and their advantages, as well as the development of gene editing techniques. We further reveal the nano-drug delivery carrier effect in improving the efficiency of gene editing. Finally, we summarize the progress in recent years of gene editing techniques based on nano-drug delivery carriers in the treatment of various malignant tumors, and analyze the prospects of the technique and its restricting factors.

Abstract
N6-methyladenosine (m6A) plays a critical role in the tumorigenesis of cervical cancer (CC). Here, we aimed to investigate the potential role of methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) in CC. Gene expression was determined via real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Cellular functions were detected using colony formation, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU), and Transwell assays. The interactions among METTL3, insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 3 (IGF2BP3), and apoptotic chromatin condensation inducer 1 (ACIN1) were confirmed using the MeRIP and RIP assays. An in vivo assay was performed to verify the role of METTL3 in CC development. METTL3 is overexpressed in CC, and therefore, its knockdown inhibits the proliferation and migration of CC cells. Silencing METTL3 inhibits tumor growth in vivo. Moreover, a positive association was observed between METTL3 and ACIN1. METTL3 interacts with IGF2BP3 to promote the mRNA stability of ACIN1, the overexpression of which induces the aggressiveness of CC cells. METTL3 promotes ACIN1 mRNA stability to accelerate CC progression, implying that METTL3 is a promising biomarker in CC.

Abstract
Background: The most often diagnosed malignancy in women worldwide is cancer of the cervix. It is also the most prevalent kind of gynecological cancer in women. This cancer originates in the opening of the cervix and spreads through sexual contact. Even though human papillomavirus (HPV) may not cause cancer immediately, it does develop over time as a result of the virus’s lengthy persistence to cause dysplastic changes overtime, particularly in high-risk kinds. The primary objective of this research is to see if miRNAs are dysregulated as a result of treatment resistance in cervical cancer (CC). The aim is to see if these microRNAs may be utilized as biomarkers for detecting chemoresistance in CC, particularly for clinical applications. Methods: The recommended protocol for comprehensive study and meta-analysis (PRISMA-P) standards will be utilized for the analysis and data interpretation. The bibliographic databases will be methodically searched using a combination of search keywords. Based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria, the acquired findings will be reviewed, and data retrieved from the selected scientific papers for systematic review. We will then construct a forest from the pooled Hazard ratio (HR) and 95% C.I. values, data obtained using the random-effects model. Discussion: The focus of this study is to identify the function of miRNAs as a chemoresistance regulator and determine if they have the potential scope to be considered as biomarkers for cervical cancer. Through this systematic review and meta-analysis, the goal is to collect, compare, and analyze the data pertaining to the role of miRNAs in cervical cancer, thereby, enabling us to understand the role they play in chemosensitivity.

Abstract
Since ancient times, people have tattooed their skin for various reasons. In the past, tattoos were associated with low social status; nowadays, tattoos are very popular and are considered a form of art. However, tattoos are associated with various clinical problems, including immune reactions, inflammatory disorders, infections, and even skin cancer. Epidemiological and clinical data of infections on tattoos are scarce. Tattoo-related infections are mostly bacterial; only a few localized viral infections have been reported so far and are caused by molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV), human papillomavirus (HPV), and herpes simplex virus (HSV). In most cases, the lesions were strictly confined to the area of the tattoo. In this review, we have analysed reported cases of viral infections localized on tattoos and discussed the possible mechanisms involved in the occurrence of these infections.

Abstract
For more than two decades, the view of the roles of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) has been radically changing. These RNA molecules that are transcribed from our genome do not have the capacity to encode proteins, but are critical regulators of gene expression at different levels. Our knowledge is constantly enriched by new reports revealing the role of these new molecular players in the development of many pathological conditions, including cancer. One of the ncRNA classes includes short RNA molecules called microRNAs (miRNAs), which are involved in the post-transcriptional control of gene expression affecting various cellular processes. The aberrant expression of miRNAs with oncogenic and tumor-suppressive function is associated with cancer initiation, promotion, malignant transformation, progression and metastasis. Oncogenic miRNAs, also known as oncomirs, mediate the downregulation of tumor-suppressor genes and their expression is upregulated in cancer. Nowadays, miRNAs show promising application in diagnosis, prediction, disease monitoring and therapy response. Our review presents a current view of the oncogenic role of miR-1290 with emphasis on its properties as a cancer biomarker in clinical medicine.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated uteri cervix carcinoma continues to be the 2nd highest cause of death among women in India. This study aims to identify the mode of HPV transmission in different communities such as Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Banjaran women of Bihar, India. Different patterns of life and cultural variations exist among Muslims, Hindus, Christians, and Banjarans. For example, Muslim wash their genital parts after urination and maintain genital hygiene, whereas Banjaran tribes, Christians, and Hindu communities do not maintain hygiene. Thus, the present study was undertaken to evaluate high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) infection among healthy women. We access to genuine reason for the cause of HPV transmission in women. METHODS Ethical clearance was obtained from MCS and RC Patna, India. A total 154 urine samples have been used for the detection of HR-HPV through a real-time PCR technique. The DNA extraction was done from collected non-invasive urine samples. The estimation and purification of DNA purity was performed by QuantiFluor® dsDNA system and detected HPV-16 and HPV-18. RESULTS Overall, the prevalence of HR-HPV infection was detected to be 12.34% (19/154) whereas HPV-16 was found to be 9.9% (14/154) and HPV-18 was found to be 3.25% (5/154) in women. The lowest (2%; 1/50) prevalence of HR-HPV was observed in the Muslim community, while higher (25%, 16%, and 14.71%) prevalence was found in the Banjaran, Christian, and Hindu communities, respectively. CONCLUSION Our study indicates that personal hygiene possibly reduces HPV infection in women and the evidence suggests that male circumcision has a protective role of HPV infection in Muslim community. Therefore, personal hygiene and circumcision may reduce the risk of HPV acquisition and transmission as well as cervical cancer development in women.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is the leading cause of death by cancer in women from developing countries. Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) types 16 and 18 is a major risk factor for cervical carcinogenesis. Nevertheless, only a few women with morphologic expression of HPV infection progress into invasive disease suggesting the involvement of other factors in cervical carcinogenesis. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are conserved small non-coding RNAs that negatively regulate gene expression including genes involved in fundamental biological processes and human cancer. Dysregulation of miRNAs has been widely reported in cervical cancer. This work focuses on reviewing the miRNAs affected during the HPV infection process, as well relevant miRNAs that contribute to the development and maintenance of malignant cervical tumor cells. Finally, we recapitulate on miRNAs that may be used to distinguish between healthy individuals from patients with precancerous lesions or cervical tumors.

Abstract
Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP) is a rare but severe manifestation of human papillomavirus (HPV). As our knowledge about HPV infections has expanded, it has become possible to understand the course of RRP disease and unravel plausible efficient methods to manage the disease. However, the surge in reports on HPV has not been accompanied by a similar increase in research about RRP specifically. In this paper, we review the clinical manifestation and typical presentation of the illness. In addition, the pathogenesis and progression of the disease are described. On the other hand, we discuss the types of treatments currently available and future treatment strategies. The role of vaccination in both the prevention and treatment of RRP will also be reviewed. We believe this review is essential to update the general knowledge on RRP with the latest information available to date to enhance our understanding of RRP and its management.

Abstract
Background High awareness of cervical cancer (CC) risk factors is important to decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with CC. This study aimed to assess the knowledge level of Palestinian women about CC risk factors and to determine the factors associated with good knowledge. Methods This was a national cross-sectional study. Adult women from hospitals, primary healthcare centers, and public spaces of 11 governorates in Palestine were recruited using a stratified convenience sampling. A translated-into-Arabic version of the validated CC awareness measure (CeCAM) was used to assess the knowledge about the 11 CC risk factors. For each correctly identified risk factor, the participant was given one point. The total score was calculated and was categorized into three categories: poor knowledge (0–3), fair knowledge (4–7), and good knowledge (8–11). Results A total of 7223 participants completed the Arabic CeCAM (response rate = 89.3%) and 7058 questionnaires were included in the final analysis: 2655 from the Gaza Strip and 4403 from the West Bank and Jerusalem. Participants recruited from the Gaza Strip were younger, getting lower monthly incomes, and with less chronic diseases than participants recruited from the West Bank and Jerusalem. The most frequently identified risk factor was ‘having a weakened immune system’ (n = 5458, 77.3%) followed by ‘infection with a sexually transmitted infection’ (n = 5388, 76.3%). The least identified risk factor was ‘having many children’ (n = 1597, 22.6%). Only 1670 women (23.7%) had good knowledge of CC risk factors. Women living in the Gaza Strip were more likely than women living in the West Bank and Jerusalem to have good knowledge (25.2% vs 22.7%). Completing a secondary or diploma degree, being employed, and having a monthly income of ≥ 1450 NIS (around $450) were all associated with lower likelihood of having good knowledge of CC risk factors. Conversely, knowing someone with cancer was associated with higher likelihood of having good knowledge. Conclusion The overall awareness of CC risk factors was low. There is a substantial need to establish educational programs to promote Palestinian women’s awareness of CC. Abstract
In 2020, more than 600 000 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer and 342 000 women died worldwide. Without comprehensive control, rates of cervical cancer incidence and mortality are expected to worsen. In 2020, the World Health Organization adopted the global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer to the threshold of four cases per 100 000 women within the 21st century, using a triple pillar intervention strategy comprising 90% of girls fully vaccinated by the age of 15 years, 70% of women screened by the age of 35 years and again by 45 years, and 90% of women with precancer treated and 90% of women with invasive cancer managed. In countries with high cervical cancer incidence, a tremendous effort will be needed to overcome the challenges. This article discusses the efforts in place to accelerate achievement of this ambitious goal. A triple pillar intervention strategy of vaccination, screening, and timely treatment has been adopted to guide the global ambition to eliminate cervical cancer.

Abstract
Cervical cancer (CC) is one of the most common gynecological malignancies in females, mainly caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). In countries with lower HPV vaccine coverage, such as Japan, medical examination may play a key role in decreasing CC incidence. This study aimed to quantify the effect of medical examination on cervical cancer (CC) incidence in Japan, considering the effects of possible risk factors. By collecting Japan's Prefectural data on CC incidence (2013-2017), incidence of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs; Chlamydia, Herpes, Condyloma, and Gonorrhea; 1993-2012), screening and detailed examination rate against CC (2013-2016), smoking rate (2001-2013), economic status (disposable income and economic surplus; 2014-2015), and education status (2015), we analyzed associations among them using Pearson's correlation coefficients. Additionally, assuming that the incidence of STDs reflects the frequency of risky sexual behavior at the co-infection point with HPV, we constructed generalized linear models to predict CC incidence, taking a 5-20-year time-lag between incidences of STDs and the CC incidence. Against CC incidence, Chlamydia in females and Gonorrhea in males with a 15-year time-lag showed positive associations, while Condyloma in both genders with a 15-year time-lag, screening rate, economic status, and smoking rate showed negative associations. An increase in screening test rate by 10% was estimated to decrease CC incidence by 9.6%. This means that screening tests decrease CC incidence effectively, but not drastically, suggesting the need for additional countermeasures for CC prevention.

Abstract
From all types of cancer, cervical cancer manages to be in top four most frequent types, with a 6.5% rate of occurrence. The infectious vector that induces the disease, the high-risk Human papillomavirus (HPV), which is a sexually transmitted virus, is capable of transforming the host cell by modulating some of the principal signaling pathways responsible for cell cycle arrest, proliferation, and survival. Fortunately, like other cancer types, cervical cancer can be treated by chirurgical interventions or chemoradiotherapy, but these methods are not exactly the lucky clover of modern medicine because of the adverse effects they have. That is the reason why in the last years the emphasis has been on alternative medicine, more specifically on phytochemicals, as a substantial number of studies showed that diet contributes to cancer prevention and treatment. All these studies are trying to find new chemopreventive agents with less toxicity but high effectiveness both in vitro and in vivo. The aim of this review is to evaluate the literature in order to underline the advantages and disadvantages of polyphenols, a class of dietary compounds, as chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic agents. This review also aims to present polyphenols from different perspectives, starting with mechanisms of action and ending with their toxicity. The bigger picture illustrates that polyphenols have great potential in cervical cancer prevention, with strong effects on gene modulation.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the performance of Cobas human papillomavirus (HPV) test in cervical cancer screening. A total of 3442 women aged ⩾20 years used Cobas HPV and hybrid capture 2 (HC2) tests were included in this study. Women with any positive result were examined by liquid-based cytology (LBC) test. Then subjects with abnormal LBC or positive Cobas HPV16/18 were further checked by colposcopy to observe the visible lesions to perform the pathological examination. Of these 3442 women, 328 cases were Cobas HPV positive, and the positive rate was 9.53% (95% confidence interval (CI) 8.50–10.53). The positive rate of HPV16, HPV18, and other 12 types of high-risk HPV were 1.54% (95% CI 1.12–1.95), 0.55% (95% CI 0.30–0.80), and 7.44% (95% CI 6.56–8.32), respectively. The coincidence rate of Cobas HPV test and HC2 test was 90% (95% CI 89.00–91.00; Kappa = 0.526) in the primary screening. Age had a non-linear relationship with Cobas HPV positive rate (χ2 = 4.240, P = 0.040) and HPV16/18 typing positive rate (χ2 = 6.610, P = 0.010). Compared with the LBC test, the Cobas HPV test had higher sensitivity when detecting patients with high cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN2+ and CIN3+).

Abstract
Background The data with regards to the regional variants of distinct HPV types is of great value. Accordance with this, this study aimed to investigate the sequence variations of E6 gene and long control region of HPV 39 among normal, premalignant and malignant cervical samples in order to characterize the frequent HPV 39 variants circulating in Tehran, Iran. Methods In total, 70 cervical samples (45 normal, 16 premalignant, and 9 malignant samples) infected with HPV 39 were analyzed by nested-PCR and sequencing. Results Our results revealed that all samples belonged to A lineage. Almost all sequences (98.6%) were classified in A1 sublineage and only one sample (1.4%) was A2 sub lineage. Conclusions Our findings showed that lineages A, sublineage A1, is dominant in Tehran, Iran. However, the small sample size was the most important limitations of this study. Further studies with larger sample size from different geographical regions of Iran are necessary to estimate the pathogenicity risk of HPV 39 variants in this population. Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and screening have been demonstrated to be effective methods for controlling cervical cancer. To provide evidence for effective targeted interventions, we investigated the HPV prevalence and genotypic distribution in women of different age groups in the Longgang community of Shenzhen, China. METHODS A total of 29 263 women were enrolled in the Longgang District Central Hospital from January 2018 to October 2020. Cervical specimens were collected at enrolment. We used a polymerase chain reaction diagnostic kit to detect the genotypes of HPV. RESULTS The prevalence of overall, high-risk, probable high-risk (PHR) and low-risk HPV infection was 8.2% (95% confidence interval [CI] 7.9 to 8.5), 6.9% (95% CI 6.6 to 7.2), 0.9% (95% CI 0.8 to 1.1) and 1.6% (95% CI 1.5 to 1.8), respectively. High-risk HPV genotype infections accounted for 84.4% (95% CI 82.8 to 85.8) of the overall HPV infections. The five most predominant genotypes were HPV-52, HPV-16, HPV-58, HPV-53 and HPV-51. CONCLUSION Our study found that the prevalence of HPV infection increased with age and women 55-59 y of age presented the highest HPV prevalence. As a PHR subtype, HPV-53 has a higher infection rate in women. HPV-52, HPV-16 and HPV-58 are common infection genotypes.

Abstract
Introduction: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is associated with six types of cancer in men and women. A vaccine against HPV, preferably administered before initial sexual intercourse, has been proven to be highly effective in preventing these cancers. An effective healthcare provider recommendation has significant influence on HPV vaccine uptake; therefore, it is critical that medical students receive comprehensive training in this area. Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge of medical students regarding Human Papillomavirus’s (HPV) ways of transmission, risk of cancer development, and vaccination against HPV. This study also investigated factors among medical students that would affect their intention to recommend HPV vaccination to others. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted among 1061 (678 women and 383 men) medical students who filled in our questionnaire. The medical students were divided into two subgroups: (1) pre-clinical medical students (MS pre-clinical; first-to third-year students; n = 683) and (2) clinical medical students (MS clinical; fourth-to six-year students; n = 378). Results: A total259 (24.41%) of the 1061 medical students were vaccinated against HPV. We found a significant improvement in the general level of knowledge in the later years of education (4–6) compared to the early years of education (1–3). However, it was demonstrated that, despite medical education advancements, there are still significant gaps of knowledge about the relationship between HPV infection and cancers other than cervical cancer, as well as in relation to the routes by which HPV is transmitted. Medical students’ intentions to recommend HPV vaccine to others were related to their own HPV-related knowledge and their own vaccination status. Conclusion: Medical students have gaps of knowledge regarding particular issues and aspects of HPV. It is necessary to further educate medical students in the field of prevention and in the treatment of lesions caused by HPV infection. Medical students’ intention to recommend the HPV vaccine can be improved by including them and members of their families in the HPV vaccination program.

Abstract
Radical hysterectomy (RH) may cause lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) for patients with cervical cancer. Few data are available on the long-term LUTS of these patients and whether the symptoms relate to the route of surgery remain unclear. Here, we assessed the long-term urinary dysfunction in cervical cancer patients after RH based on a self-reported questionnaire. A total of 168 patients after type C2 RH, either by laparoscopy (LRH) or laparotomy (ARH), were analysed. The median length of follow-up was 54 ± 8.35 months. The total incidence of urinary dysfunction was around 40%. Patients with LRH had more intermittent stream and feeling of incomplete emptying than those in ARH group. Our data indicate the irreversible damage of RH to urinary function of cervical cancer patients, who should be informed of the long-term and high incidence of urinary dysfunction after RH when they choose surgical treatment.Impact StatementWhat is already known on this subject? Radical hysterectomy (RH) with pelvic lymphadenectomy is standard surgical care for patients with cervical cancer. RH could induce urinary dysfunction, including bladder sensation loss, hypertonic and hypotonic bladder, urinary incontinence, etc. Studies mainly focus on short- or mid-term urinary dysfunction and stated that spontaneous recovery of urinary function is to be expected within 6-12 months after surgery.What the results of this study add? The lower urinary tract symptoms last for years after type C2 RH, indicating the irreversible damage of RH to urinary function of cervical cancer patients. The incidence of bladder dysfunction is increased in patients submitted to laparoscopic RH compared to abdominal RH.What the implications are of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Cervical cancer patients should be informed of the long-term and high incidence of urinary dysfunction after RH when they choose surgical treatment.

Abstract
Cancer is a global health problem associated with genetics and unhealthy lifestyles. Increasingly, pathogenic infections have also been identified as contributors to human cancer initiation and progression. Most pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites) associated with human cancers are categorized as Group I human carcinogens by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, IARC. These pathogens cause carcinogenesis via three known mechanisms: persistent infection that cause inflammation and DNA damage, initiation of oncogene expression, and immunosuppression activity of the host. In this review, we discuss the carcinogenesis mechanism of ten pathogens, their implications, and some future considerations for better management of the disease. The pathogens and cancers described are Helicobacter pylori (gastric cancer), Epstein-Barr virus (gastric cancer and lymphoma), Hepatitis B and C viruses (liver cancer), Aspergillus spp. (liver cancer), Opisthorchis viverrine (bile duct cancer), Clonorchis sinensis (bile duct cancer), Fusobacterium nucleatum (colorectal cancer), Schistosoma haematobium (bladder cancer); Human Papillomavirus (cervical cancer), and Kaposi's Sarcoma Herpes Virus (Kaposi's sarcoma).

Abstract
Cervical cancer is the fourth most common malignant tumor in women worldwide and is closely related to human papillomavirus (HPV). Women have the highest susceptibility to HPV-52 type in Jingzhou, China. In this study, E6-E7 sequences of 183 HPV-52 positive samples were amplified by a polymerase chain reaction and sequenced. HPV-52 E6-E7 gene variations were analyzed. The phylogenetic tree was constructed using the Kimura 2-parameter method. The secondary structure of the protein was analyzed. The selective pressure to E6-E7 genes was estimated using PAML. In addition, the B cell epitopes of the E6-E7 sequences in HPV-52 were predicted by the ABCpred server. In E6 sequences, 15 single nucleotide variants were observed, including 6 nonsynonymous variants and 9 synonymous variants. In E7 sequences, 19 single nucleotide variants occurred, including 10 nonsynonymous variants and 9 synonymous variants. Six amino acid variants, including 3 nonconservative substitutions, were found in sequences encoding the alpha helix. Eight amino acid variants, including three nonconservative substitutions, occurred in sequences encoding the strand. Through phylogenetic analysis, the E6-E7 sequences were mainly distributed in B lineage. In HPV-52 E6-E7 sequences, no positively selected site was found. The nonconservative substitutions, such as K93R, K93E in E6, T37I, and D38N in E7, affected multiple hypothetical epitopes in the B cell. This study provides information for the investigation of HPV epidemic characters. The discovery of new variants of HPV-52 may lay the basis for the development of the virus diagnosis, further study of cervical cancer, and vaccine design in Central China.

Abstract
Purpose The prevalence of carcinoma of the cervix is increasing in younger women. This study aimed to evaluate the sociodemographic, pathological, and clinical features, prognosis, and treatment of women aged ≤35 years with carcinoma of the cervix (CC). Methods and Materials We retrospectively analysed the clinical information of 352 younger women with carcinoma of the cervix aged ≤35 years at the Gynaecological Oncology Department of Zhengzhou University People's Hospital from April 2000 to January 2018. The overall survival was evaluated with the Kaplan–Meier model, and the log-ranked analysis was compared with the univariate analysis to determine prognostic survival-related risk factors. Cox Proportional Hazards analysis was further used in analysing parameters correlated with survival after univariate analysis. A p value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. SPSS version 23.0 was used for the data analysis. Results The most frequent histopathological type observed in the selected 352 younger women was squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) (n = 221, 62.9%), adenocarcinoma (n = 125, 35.5%), and adenosquamous carcinoma (n = 6, 1.7%). The 5-year overall survival time was 80.5%. The prognostic risk factors discovered through univariate analysis were tumour stage (IA1-IIB vs. IIIA-IVA) (89.2% vs. 35.1%: p value = 0.002), histological type (SCC vs. non-SCC) (95.7% vs. 56.2%: p value = 0.001), surgical margin (negative vs. positive) (90.9% vs. 41.2%: p value = 0.001), and pelvic lymph node metastasis (no vs. yes) (93.4% vs. 39.2%: p value = .001). The Cox proportional hazards test demonstrated that lymph node metastases ([HR] = 2.924, 95% CI: 1.432–7.426; p=0.014), tumour stage IIIA-IVA ([HR] = 3.765, 95% CI: 1.398–9.765; p=0.016), and surgical margin ([HR] = 2.167, 95% CI: 1.987–9.554; p=0.019) were independent prognostic risk factors for overall survival in younger women with cervical carcinoma. Conclusion In conclusion, the status of lymph node metastases, tumour stage, and surgical margin and the type of histopathology substantially influence the rate of survival.

Abstract
Over the past 20 years, important relationships between the microbiota and human health have emerged. A link between alterations of microbiota composition (dysbiosis) and cancer development has been recently demonstrated. In particular, the composition and the oncogenic role of intestinal bacterial flora has been extensively investigated in preclinical and clinical studies focusing on gastrointestinal tumors. Overall, the development of gastrointestinal tumors is favored by dysbiosis as it leads to depletion of antitumor substances (e.g., short-chain fatty acids) produced by healthy microbiota. Moreover, dysbiosis leads to alterations of the gut barrier, promotes a chronic inflammatory status through activation of toll-like receptors, and causes metabolic and hormonal dysregulations. However, the effects of these imbalances are not limited to the gastrointestinal tract and they can influence gynecological tumor carcinogenesis as well. The purpose of this Review is to provide a synthetic update about the mechanisms of interaction between gut microbiota and the female reproductive tract favoring the development of neoplasms. Furthermore, novel therapeutic approaches based on the modulation of microbiota and their role in gynecological oncology are discussed.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of our systematic review was the assessment of effects of excisional treatments for the management of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) on preterm delivery (PD), lower birth weight (LBW), preterm premature rupture of membrane (PPROM) and obstetrical outcomes. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION A structured search was carried out in PubMed-Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Controlled Trials Register databases through November 30, 2019. The search included a combination of the following terms: "loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP)," "large loop excision of transformation zone (LLETZ)," "cold-knife conization (CKC)," "laser cervical conization (CLC)," "preterm delivery" and "neonatal outcome." EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Thirty-two of 561 publications considered were included: 28 retrospective series, 2 prospective studies and 2 multicenter trials. Globally in several studies there was a significant increase in PD, measured by the relative risk, in the women underwent a surgical procedure for the CIN. In their majority, the studies were retrospective and therefore a high risk of bias. CONCLUSIONS This systematic review shows that the surgical treatment of the CIN was associated with an increased risk of PD, LBW and pPROM before 37 pregnancy weeks compared to untreated women, especially in a CKC and LLETZ procedure. Moreover, the increase of the of PD was associated with cone size, cervical length, repeated treatment and a short conization-to-pregnancy interval.

Abstract
This study describes the synthesis of novel 1,3,5-triazine derivatives as potent inhibitors of cervical cancer. The compounds were initially tested for inhibition of PI3K/mTOR, where they showed significant inhibitory activity. The top-ranking molecule (compound 6 h) was further tested against class I PI3K isoforms, such as PI3Kα, PI3Kβ, PI3Kγ and PI3Kδ, where it showed the most significant activity against PI3Kα. Compound 6 h was then tested for anti-cancer activity against triple-negative breast cancer cells (MDA-MB321), human breast cancer cells (MCF-7), human cervical cancer cells (HeLa) and human liver cancer cells (HepG2), and it showed the greatest potency against HeLa cells. The effects of compound 6 h were further evaluated against the HeLa cells, where it showed significant attenuation of cell viability by inducing cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase. Compound 6 h induced apoptosis and reduced migration and invasion of HeLa cells. Western blotting analysis showed that 6 h inhibited PI3K and mTOR with positive modulation of Bcl-2 and Bax levels in HeLa cells. The effects of compound 6 h were also investigated in a tumour xenograft mouse model, where it showed reduction of tumour volume and weight. It also inhibited the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signalling cascade in xenograft tumour tissues, as evidenced by western blotting analysis. The results of the present study suggest the possible utility of the designed 1,3,5-triazine derivative as a potent inhibitor of cervical cancer.

Abstract
Background:
Persistent high-risk genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a major cause of cervical
cancer in women. The products of the viral transforming genes E6 and E7 in the high-risk HPVs are known to be similar
in their amino acid composition and structure. We performed a comparative analysis of codon usage patterns in the E6
and E7 genes of HPVs.
Methods:
The E6 and E7 gene sequences of eight HPV subtypes were analyzed to determine their nucleotide
composition, relative synonymous codon usage (RSCU), effective number of codons (ENC), neutrality, genetic
variability, selection pressure, and codon adaptation index (CAI). Additionally, a correspondence analysis (CoA) was
performed.
Results:
The analysis to determine the effects of differences in composition on the codon usage patterns revealed that
there may be usage bias for ‘A’ nucleotides. This was consistent with the results of the RSCU analysis, which
demonstrated that the selection of A/T-rich patterns and the preference for A/T-ended codons in HPVs are influenced by
compositional constraints. Moreover, the results reveal that selection pressure plays an important role in the CoA results
for the RSCU values, Tajima’s D tests, and neutrality tests.
Conclusion:
The results of this study are consistent with previous findings that most papillomavirus genes are under
purifying selection pressure, which limits changes to the encoded proteins. Natural selection and mutation pressures
resulting in changes in the nucleotide composition and codon usage bias in the two tumor genes of HPV act differently
during the evolution of the HPV subtype; thus, throughout the viral life cycle, HPV can constantly evolve to adapt to a
new environment.

Abstract
The outbreak of the emerging SARS-CoV-2 virus has highlighted the challenges of detecting viral infections, especially in resource-limited settings. The SARS-CoV-2 virus transmission chain is interrupted when screening and diagnosis can be performed on a large scale by identifying asymptomatic or moderately symptomatic patients. Diagnosis of COVID-19 with reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) has been limited due to inadequate access to complex, expensive equipment and reagents, which has impeded efforts to reduce the spread of virus transmission. Recently, the development of several diagnostic platforms based on the CRISPR-Cas system has reduced the dependence on RT-PCR. The first CRISPR-based diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 was recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The biosensing systems have several important features that make them suitable for point-of-care tests, including the speed of design and synthesis of each platform in less than a few days, an assay time of 1-2 h, and the cost of materials and reagents less than one dollar per test. The HUDSON-SHERLOCK and STOPCovid biosensing systems, as field-deployable and rapid diagnostic tests, can detect low-copy viruses in body fluids without nucleic acid extraction and with minimal equipment. In addition, Cas13-based treatment strategies could potentially be an effective antiviral strategy for the prevention and treatment of emerging pandemic viruses such as SARS-CoV-2. In this review, we describe recent advances in CRISPR-based diagnostic platforms with an emphasis on their use in the rapid diagnosis and potential treatment of COVID-19.

Abstract
Objective Cervical cancer is a common gynecologic cancer, and no study has been reported on the way through which lncRNA SNHG1, miR-195 and NEK2 jointly affect cervical cancer cells (CCCs), so this paper will explore a new approach to the development of cervical cancer in this respect. Methods Altogether 72 cervical cancer tissues and 54 adjacent tissues were collected. qPCR was performed to quantify lncRNA SNHG1 and miR-195, whose expression vectors were constructed and then transfected into CCCs, so as to observe their effects on the cells. Western blotting (WB) was carried out to detect protein levels. MTT assay was conducted to detect cell activity. Flow cytometry was performed to detect cell apoptosis. Transwell was carried out to detect cell invasion and migration. Results The expression of lncRNA SNHG1 up-regulated while that of miR-195 down-regulated in CCCs. lncRNA SNHG1 regulated NEK2 through its targeted binding to miR-195. The down-regulation of lncRNA SNHG1 or the up-regulation of miR-195 led to the decrease of NEK2 and the reduction of cells’ activity, migration and invasion, also resulting in the increase of cell apoptosis. Rescue experiments showed that the down-regulation of miR-195 could offset the cell changes caused by lncRNA SNHG1. Conclusion lncRNA SNHG1 promotes the progression of cervical cancer through the miR-195/NEK2 axis, so lncRNA SNHG1, miR-195 and NEK2 may have potential values for diagnosing and treating cervical cancer.

Abstract
COVID pandemic consists one of the most challenging medical realities. Apart from affecting respiratory system, current evidence has demonstrated multiorgan manifestations that SARS-Cov-2 infection may actually have. However, one of the medical hypotheses not yet thoroughly tested is the impact on female reproductive system and more specifically cervix. No large observational studies have been performed to test presence of SARS-Cov-2 in cervical samples, while potential correlation and impact on HPV infection has not yet been examined. In this context, our research team has already planned to begin a prospective observational study regarding detection rates of SARS-CoV-2 genetic material in cervical cytology. The collected specimen will be analyzed for the presence of COVID-19 genetic material and in case of positive results, HPV typing will be performed as well in order to detect potential correlations between SARS-CoV-2 infection and HPV-infection. We would therefore like to launch our idea to control for SARS-CoV-2 infection in cervical specimen as well as examine potential correlation with HPV infection. Potential scientific proof of such hypothesis would change much regarding follow-up of HPV-positive patients while also triggering further research regarding aitiopathogenetic pathways of COVID. Communication of such a medical hypothesis could potentially motivate colleagues worldwide to expand their interest also on the research of SARS-CoV-2 cervical infection, in an effort to optimize our level of knowledge towards this new threatening and unknown reality of SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is an important cause of death in women worldwide. About 99.7% of all cervical cancers have been related to human papillomavirus, especially types 16 and 18. Types 6 and 11 cause genital warts. We aimed to determine the prevalence of common HPV genotypes among women in the general population and women with cervical cancer. A total of 571 healthy women cytology specimens and 113 tissue samples of cervical cancer were investigated using HPV type-specific primers. HPV DNA was detected in 24% of healthy women: 3.3% were positive for high-risk HPV and 11.6% for low-risk HPV. HPV6 (9.3%) had the highest prevalence followed by HPV11 (2.3%), HPV16 (1.8%), HPV18 (1.2%), and 9.1% of samples were positive for unknown types. Among cervical cancer samples, HPV DNA was found in 78.8% including 43.4% HPV16, 8% HPV18, and 27.4% an unknown HPV type. HPV6 and HPV11 were not detected in any cervical cancer cases and 21.2% were negative for HPV. We found no association between HPV-16/18 and age in cervical cancer. The prevalence of HPV infection is relatively high in Iran without vaccination backgrounds. HPV DNA screening and vaccination programs can prevent cervical cancer and health problems caused by genital warts.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer incidence in the world female population, and it has become a public health problem worldwide. Several factors are involved in this type of cancer, including intrinsic factors related to the inflammatory process, such as extracellular nucleotides and adenosine-components of the purinergic system. The present review focuses on the role of the purinergic system in cervical cancer, especially regarding the interaction of extracellular nucleotides with their respective receptors expressed in the tumor microenvironment of cervical cancer and their role in the host immune response. The high concentrations of extracellular nucleotides in the tumor microenvironment of cervical cancer interfere in the regulation, proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis of cancer cells of the uterine cervix through different P1 and P2 receptor subtypes. Such diverse cellular processes that are mediated by adenosine triphosphate and adenosine across the tumor microenvironment and that also have effects on host immune defense will be reviewed here in detail.

Abstract
Analysis of pap smear images under a microscope by experts is a laborious and time consuming task. Computer-assisted diagnostic (CAD) systems can simplify this tedious process and allow experts to focus on more critical cases. Effective screening and early diagnosis can help to detect precancerous cells and allow early treatment. In this study, we have used a deep learning approach for classification of cervical cell images which obtained from pap smear slides. The proposed method automatically classifies cervical cell images into five categories without using any pre-processing on raw input images. We have obtained the promising results as compared to the previous studies in the literature. The proposed model can give a second opinion to clinicians in their daily routines and help them to focus on more complex cases.
