Abstract
The reversible addition of olefins to a phosphanylalumane, P-Al single-bond species, was investigated. The P-Al bond added to ethylene and relatively small terminal alkenes (propylene and hex-1-ene) at room temperature to give the corresponding alkene adducts. Heating the terminal alkene adducts released the corresponding alkenes and regenerated the P-Al bond, but no release of ethylene was observed even under vacuum conditions. The reactivity of ethylene adduct as a new saturated C2 vicinal P/Al-based FLP was also investigated. The ethylene adduct was found to undergo complexation with nitriles to give the corresponding nitrile adducts to the Al center, which retained the ethylene tether as in the case of the corresponding P/B-based FLP. However, the reactivity of ethylene toward CO2 and benzaldehyde differed from that of the P/B system giving the corresponding adducts.

Abstract
The reactions of CO2 with a series of phosphinoboranes, including R2 PBpin (R=Ph, tBu; pin=pinacol), R2 PBMes2 (R=Ph, tBu; Mes=2,4,6-Me3 -C6 H2 ), and R2 PBcat (R=Ph, tBu, Mes; cat=catechol) are described. Although R2 PBpin and R2 PBMes2 afford products of the form R2 PCO2 Bpin (R=Ph 1, tBu 4) and R2 PCO2 BMes2 (R=Ph 2, tBu 3), respectively, R2 PBcat lead to further reaction affording the diphospha-ureas, (R2 P)2 CO (R=Ph 5, tBu 6, Mes 7), together with O(Bcat)2 . Computational studies provide insight into the mechanism, revealing an intermediate derived from double phosphinoboration of CO2 .

Abstract
A completely inorganic version of one of the most famous organophosphorus compounds, triphenylphosphine, has been prepared. A comparison of the crystal structures of inorganic triphenylphosphine, PBaz3 (where Baz=B3 H2 N3 H3 ) and PPh3 shows that they have superficial similarities and furthermore, the Lewis basicities of the two compounds are remarkably similar. However, their oxygenation and hydrolysis reactions are starkly different. PBaz3 reacts quantitatively with water to give PH3 and with the oxidizing agent ONMe3 to give the triply-O-inserted product P(OBaz)3 , an inorganic version of triphenyl phosphite; a corresponding transformation with PPh3 is inconceivable. Thermodynamically, what drives these striking differences in the chemistry of PBaz3 and PPh3 is the great strength of the B-O bond.
