Abstract
Herein, a new tellurium and mercury containing mercuraazametallamacrocycle has been prepared via (2+2) condensation of bis(o-aminophenyl)telluride and bis(o-formylphenyl)mercury(II). The isolated bright yellow solid of mercuraazametallamacrocycle has adopted unsymmetrical figure-of-eight conformation in the crystal structure. To study the metallophilic interactions between closed shell metal ions, the macrocyclic ligand has been treated with two equiv. of AgOTf (OTf=trifluoromethansulfonate) and AgBF4 , which afforded greenish-yellow bimetallic silver complexes. The isolated silver complexes displayed intramolecular Hg⋅⋅⋅Ag, Te⋅⋅⋅Ag interactions as well as intermolecular Hg⋅⋅⋅Hg interactions and formed an extended 1D molecular chain by directing six atoms to interact as TeII ⋅⋅⋅AgI ⋅⋅⋅HgII ⋅⋅⋅HgII ⋅⋅⋅AgI ⋅⋅⋅TeII in a non linear fashion. The Hg⋅⋅⋅Ag, Te⋅⋅⋅Ag interactions have also been studied in solution by 199 Hg, 125 Te NMR spectroscopy, absorption, and emission spectroscopy. In DFT calculations, the Atom in Molecule (AIM) analysis, non-covalent interactions (NCI), natural bonding orbital (NBO) analysis strongly supported for experimental evidences and revealed that the intermolecular Hg⋅⋅⋅Hg interaction is stronger than the intramolecular Hg⋅⋅⋅Ag interactions.

Abstract
The chemistry of discrete molecular chains constituted by metals in low oxidation states, displaying metal-metal proximity and stabilized by suitable metal-bridging, assembling ligands comprising at least one soft donor atom is comprehensively reviewed; complexes with a single (hard or soft) bridging atom (e.g., μ-halide, μ-sulfide, or μ-PR2 etc.) as well as "closed" metal arrays (that fall in the realm of cluster chemistry) are excluded. The focus is on transition metal-based systems, with few excursions to cases combining transition and post-transition elements. Most relevant supporting ligands have neutral C, P, O, or S donor (mainly, N-heterocyclic carbene, phosphine, ether, thioether) or anionic donor (mainly phenyl, ylide, silyl, phosphide, thiolate) groups. A supporting-ligand-based classification of the metal chains is introduced, using as the classifying parameter the number of "bites" (i.e., ligand bridges) subtending each intermetallic separation. The ligands are further grouped according to the number of donor atoms interacting with the metal chain (called denticity in the following) and the column of the Periodic Table to which the set of donor atoms belongs (in ascending order). A complementary metal-based compilation of the complexes discussed is also provided in a concise tabular form.

Abstract
The permercuration of ferrocene was achieved by reacting ferrocene with 10 equivalents of mercury(II) butyrate Hg(O2 CC3 H7 )2 in a facile one-pot reaction in multi-gram scale and high yields. The butyrate groups in FeC10 (HgX)10 (X=O2 CC3 H7 ) can be exchanged by treatment with trifluoro- or trichloroacetic acid (X=O2 CCF3 , O2 CCCl3 ). Substitution of the trifluoroacetate groups by halides (X=Cl, F) proceeds easily in aqueous THF. The completeness of metalation was confirmed by NMR and vibrational spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, as well as elemental analysis. Additionally, the first crystal structures of permetallated metallocenes are presented: FeC10 (HgX)10 (X=Cl, O2 CCF3 , O2 CCCl3 ).

Abstract
We report selenazamacrocycle hosts that are the first system to change guest binding affinity from cation to anion depending upon macrocycle oxidation/reduction. Selective cation (Fe2+) or anion (BF4-) binding occurs with both ions present and under identical reaction conditions. We also report the first macrocyclic complex with a Fe-Se bond.

Abstract
The reaction of Ph3BiCl2 with alkali salts of isonicotinic and nicotinic acids afforded Ph3Bi[O(O)CC5H4N-4]2 (1) and Ph3Bi[O(O)CC5H4N-3]2 (2), respectively, which were characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy in solution, mass spectrometry and IR spectroscopy in the solid state. Their molecular structures were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. For both 1 and 2 the molecules contain a trigonal bipyramidal C3BiO2 core, with the phenyl groups in equatorial positions. The potential use of 1 and 2 as ditopic organometalloligands was investigated. The reaction of 1 or 2 with Me3SnCl (1 : 2 molar ratio) resulted in carboxylato ligand exchange and the formation of Me3Sn[O(O)CC5H4N-4] (3) and Me3Sn[O(O)CC5H4N-3] (4) besides Ph3BiCl2. The crystals of both 3 and 4 contain 1-D coordination polymers built through intermolecular N → Sn interactions. The treatment of Ni[S2P(OiPr)2]2 with 1 and 2, respectively, resulted, in addition to di(carboxylato)nickel(ii) derivatives, in isolation of Ph3Bi and the disulphane [(iPrO)2P(S)S]2. New coordination polymers were obtained by reacting 1 and 2 with various silver(i) salts: [Ag{Ph3Bi[O(O)CC5H4N-4]2}(OTf)] (5), [Ag{Ph3Bi[O(O)CC5H4N-3]2}(OTf)]·CH2Cl2 (6·CH2Cl2), [Ag{Ph3Bi[O(O)CC5H4N-4]2}](SbF6)·2THF (7·2THF), [Ag{Ph3Bi[O(O)CC5H4N-3]2}](SbF6)·CH2Cl2 (8·CH2Cl2) and [Ag{Ph3Bi[O(O)CC5H4N-3]2}(NO3)]·CH2Cl2 (9·CH2Cl2). The crystal structures of 5 and 6 can be described as 1-D chains linked by triflate bridges in pairs of chains and 2-D networks, respectively. Compound 7 features a 2-D grid-like topology of the network, with tecton 1 acting as a tridentate ligand through both nitrogen and one oxygen atoms. The linker 2 molecules adopt either cis (compound 6) or trans (compounds 8 and 9) conformation. Complexes 8 and 9 are 1-D chain polymers exhibiting zig-zag and wavy motifs, respectively. The dimensionality of the structures is extended by the presence of supramolecular interactions (ππ, AgAg, AgO).

Abstract
A metastable heterometallic intermediate, [Cu2(bpy)2(DIPSA)2Hg2(OAc)4(DIPSA)2]n (1, where OAc = CH3COO(-), bpy = bipyridine, and DIPSA = diisopropylsalicylic acid), has been isolated and characterized during the synthesis of 1D polymer [Cu2(bpy)2(DIPSA)2(CH3CN)2Hg2(OAc)2(DIPSA)4]n (2) at ambient temperature in acetonitrile. Moreover, recrystallization of 2 in methanol results in monomeric [Cu(DIPSA)(bpy)(CH3OH)]·CH3OH (3). Complexes 1-3 have been characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared, and UV-vis spectroscopy as well as by their single-crystal X-ray structures. The photophysical study suggests the quenching of fluorescence of DIPSA upon complexation.

Abstract
Three copper-N9-modified guanine complexes are reported with structures ranging from a discrete trinuclear motif to a mixed-valence coordination polymer. These complexes were used as precursors for the deposition and growth of copper oxide thin films on Si(100), at two different annealing temperatures, by using a CVD technique. Subsequent resistivity measurements suggest the formation of conductive thin films, raising the possibility of using nucleobase-metal complexes as versatile thin film precursors.

Abstract
A novel S4-symmetric icosanuclear manganese metalladiazamacrocycle was synthesized using a pentadentate ligand, N-3-phenyl-trans-2-propenoylsalicylhydrazide (H3L), that has a rigid and bulky terminal N-acyl group. A 20 cyclic repeat of an--(Mn-N-N)--linkage resulted in a highly puckered diaza-bridged 60-membered icosanuclear metallamacrocycle. The steric interaction between the ligands in the cyclic system leads to five consecutive Mn(III) centers in a chemically different--(Mn(A)Mn(B)Mn(C)Mn(D)Mn(E))--environment, with the chiralities of the metal centers being in a rather complicated--(LambdaLambdaDeltaLambdaLambda)(DeltaDeltaLambdaDeltaDelta)--sequence.

Abstract
An extended 36-membered dodecanuclear manganese metallamacrocycle with S12 symmetry has been synthesized using the ligand N-cyclohexanoylsalicylhydrazide (H3chxshz) by a self-assembly that accommodates a cyclooctane of conformationally strained S4 symmetry in its hydrophobic cavity.
