Abstract
Four self-assembled inorganic-organic hybrid materials, namely, H{Na(H2O)3[Gd(PDA)(H2O)2]3[BW12O40]}·4H2O (1), H{Na(H2O)3[Tb(PDA)(H2O)2]3[BW12O40]}·3H2O (2), H{Na(H2O)3[Er(PDA)(H2O)3]3[BW12O40]}·H2O (3) (PDA = 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxylate), and [Pr3(H2O)13(pydc-OH)2][BW12O40]·12H2O (4) (pydc-OH = 4-hydroxy-2,6-pyridinedicarboxylate), were hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. Hybrids 1-3 are isostructural and contain a Keggin unit, which is linked to lanthanoids to produce distinct trinuclear lanthanoid building blocks. The fragments are connected by anion-π and hydrogen bonding interactions to create 3D networks. In hybrid 4, a trimeric Pr-organic species bearing a Keggin unit forms a 2D coordination polymer, and then hydrogen bonding interactions between 2D layers lead to the formation of a 3D structure. These polyoxometalate-based frameworks were used as sorbents for the dispersive microsolid-phase extraction (D-μSPE) of two anticancer drugs (doxorubicin and epirubicin) in human plasma samples. Analytes were quantified and separated using high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD). The method's linearity was between 0.8-500 ng mL-1 and 1.0-500 ng mL-1 for the antineoplastic drugs doxorubicin and epirubicin, respectively. The limits of detection (S/N = 3) were in the range of 0.2-0.3 ng mL-1, while the precision was in the range of 3.5-4.3%. Finally, human plasma samples from patients treated with doxorubicin or epirubicin were analyzed by using the D-μSPE-HPLC-FLD method.

Abstract
A systematic study of the condensation reactions of arylarsonic-functionalized [α-P2W12O48]14- units in acidic aqueous media identified that the specific presence of an amino group in the ortho position of the phenyl rings induces a dimerization process that allowed isolation of discrete dimeric polyanions [(o-H2N-C6H4-AsO3)4P4W24O85]14- (1) with an unprecedented polyoxometalate skeleton characterized by two seminal {P2W12} groups joined via a single W-O-W bridge. At the same time, addition of divalent transition metal ions (MnII, CoII, and NiII) in the reaction mixture directed a condensation process on a completely different pathway resulting in one-dimensional (1D) coordination polymers based on V-shaped [{M(H2O)4}P4W24O92(C6H6AsNO)2]14- polyanions (M = MnII (2), CoII (3), and NiII (4)). All polyanions were isolated as hydrated mixed potassium/dimethylammonium salts and thoroughly characterized in the solid state. 31P NMR studies showed that the discrete cluster 1 is comparatively stable in 1 M LiCl aqueous solution and thus represents a potential precursor for subsequent reactions.

Abstract
Polyoxometalates (POMs) as efficient catalysts can be used a wide range of chemical transformations due to their tunable Brønsted/Lewis-acidity and redox properties. Herein, we reported two hybrid and heterogeneous lacunary Keggin catalysts: (TBA)7[PW11O39] (TBA-PW11) and (TBA)8[SiW11O39]·4H2O (TBA-SiW11) (TBA+: tetrabutylammonium) in which [XW11O39]n− anions were coated by TBA+ cations. In this form, TBA+ can easily trap reactants on the surface of the catalysts and increase the catalytic reaction. Therefore, the catalytic performance of both POMs was tested in cyanosilylation of numerous compounds bearing-carbonyl group and trimethylsilyl cyanide under solvent-free conditions. TBA-PW11 is more effective than TBA-SiW11, conceivably due to the higher Lewis acidity of the P than the Si center and to the higher accessibility of the metal centers in the framework structure. Noteworthy, the recyclability and heterogeneity of both POMs catalysts were also examined, and the results confirmed that they remain active at least after three recycling procedures.

Abstract
Water pollution, which continuously threatens human health and the sustainable development of society, has become a major concern. Photocatalytic degradation is an effective strategy to remove organic dyes from wastewater. For this strategy, it is crucial to select the appropriate catalyst. Using triphenylphosphine oxide (OPPh3) as the ligand, phosphomolybdic acid as the anion template, three new lanthanide complexes [Ln(OPPh3)4(H2O)3](PMo12O40)∙4C2H5OH (1-3) (Ln = Sm, Gd, Tb) were synthesized. The raw materials for the reaction are cheap and readily available. The convenient synthesis method is environmentally friendly, with high yield (70%-80%). Complexes 1-3 are all seven-coordinated mononuclear structures centered on lanthanide ions, [PMo12O40]3- anions and solvent molecules are not coordinated with metal ions. These mononuclear structures eventually form complicated 3D supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonds, Mo-O … π or C-H … π weak interactions. Complexes 1-3 photocatalytic degradation of MB have high removal rates, as catalysts have enough stability to be reused, and can be used as excellent catalysts for the degradation of dye molecules in sewage. Among them, the removal rate of MB by photodegradation of complex 2 was highest (99.50%). In addition, the effects of different initial concentrations of MB solution and different types of organic dyes on the photocatalysis experiment were investigated. The photocatalytic reaction mechanism of complexes 1-3 was also studied. Due to the similar structures of complexes 1-3, they have almost the same THz absorption spectra with different absorption intensity, which may be attributed to the difference of the number of weak interactions. Therefore, terahertz spectroscopy can be used as a sensitive method to distinguish and determine small differences between lanthanide-organic complexes. This is the first time that this spectrum has been used to characterize lanthanide phosphine oxide complexes modified by [PMo12O40]3-.

Abstract
A novel binuclear ruthenium-based polyoxometalate, K6H[{Ru2Cl(H2O)(CH3COO)2}{WO(H2O)}2(PW9O34)2]·14H2O (1), was successfully synthesized by the conventional hydrothermal method. Compound 1 was well-characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), and elemental analysis. The structural unit of compound 1 contains two [A-α-PW9O34]9- building blocks at the upper and lower positions connected by two W atoms and two Ru atoms, where the W atoms and Ru atoms are arranged in a trapezoidal arrangement and the Ru atoms are bridged by acetic acid. Furthermore, compound 1 features characteristic absorption bands in the visible region, which allows the investigation of its photocatalytic properties in visible light. Under simulated sunlight radiation (λ > 400 nm), compound 1 exhibits high photocatalytic activity and good circularity toward the oxidative coupling of amines to imines at room temperature with O2 as the sole oxidant.

Abstract
A novel capillary-based fluorescence microsensor for artemisinin was developed with functional polyoxometalates (POMs) as nanozyme by a layer-by-layer self-assembly strategy. Vanadomolybdophosphoric heteropoly acid (H5PMo10V2O40, PMoV2) and tungstophosphoric heteropoly acid (Na5PW11O39Cu, PW11Cu) with high peroxidase-like activity were synthesized and immobilized on capillary to catalyze artemisinin/thiamine reaction and generate the amplified fluorescence signal. The wide linear range up to 13.0 μM with the low limit of detection of 0.03 μM (S/N = 3) was achieved for the determination of artemisinin by using the proposed POMs-microsensor. The method has been successfully used to detect artemisinin in human plasma and antimalarial drugs with satisfactory accuracy. This work developed a novel capillary fluorescence microsensor with functional POMs as nanozyme, which can serve as a promising candidate in fluorescence microanalysis.

Abstract
As an extension of our interest in polyoxometalates (POMs) and lanthanoids, we report the design and synthesis of two polyoxometalate-based frameworks under hydrothermal conditions; [Ho4(PDA)4(H2O)11][(SiO4)@W12O36]·8H2O (1) and [Tb4(PDA)4(H2O)12][(SiO4)@W12O36]·4H2O (2) (H2PDA = 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxylic acid). Both hybrids have been characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and powder/single-crystal X-ray diffraction. According to the structural analysis, 1 and 2 consist of 2D-cationic coordination polymers based on the respective lanthanoids and PDA2- as well as Keggin anions that reside in the interspaces between two adjacent layers as discrete counterions connected by extensive hydrogen bonding. Although the overall structures of 1 and 2 are composed of cationic and anionic layers, there are many differences in the cationic layers such as various coordination modes of PDA2-, different void shapes, and the existence of dinuclear Tb(III) units only in 2. Frameworks 1 and 2 were further characterized by dc and ac magnetic measurements and both exhibit slow relaxation of magnetization at low temperatures under an applied dc field. Their single-molecule magnet (SMM) properties are investigated, where weak field-induced SMM behaviour is observed at low temperatures in dynamic magnetic studies.

Abstract
Lacunary polyoxometalates (LPOMs) are key precursors for the synthesis of functional POMs. To date, reviews dedicated to behavioral studies of LPOMs often comprise the role of metal ions, including transition metal (TM) and rare earth (RE) ions, in extending and stability of high-nuclearity clusters. In contrast, the role of organic ligands in the structures and properties of lacunary-based hybrids has remained less explored. In this review, we focus on the role of organic fragments in the self-assembling process of POM-based architectures and discuss relationships between the nature and structure of organic ligand and properties such as the topology of hybrid inorganic–organic material in RE and TM-RE heterometallic derivatives of lacunary Keggin-type POMs. The effects of organic fragment in mixed ligand hybrids are also briefly reviewed.

Abstract
The development of cost-effective, efficient, and novel catalytic systems is always an important topic for heterogeneous catalysis from academia and industrial points of view. Heteroatom-doped carbon materials have gained more and more attention as effective heterogeneous catalysts to replace metal-based catalysts, because of their excellent physicochemical properties, outstanding structure characteristics, environmental compatibility, low cost, inexhaustible resources, and low energy consumption. Doping of heteroatoms can tailor the properties of carbons for different utilizations of interest. In comparison to pure carbon catalysts, these catalysts demonstrate superior catalytic activity in many organic reactions. This review highlights the most recent progress in synthetic strategies to fabricate metal-free heteroatom-doped carbon catalysts including single and multiple heteroatom-doped carbons and the catalytic applications of these fascinating materials in various organic transformations such as oxidation, hydrogenation, hydrochlorination, dehydrogenation, etc.

Abstract
A novel inorganic-organic hybrid, {Na[Tb(L)(H2O)4]3(SiW12O40)}·4H2O, in which L = 4-hydroxypyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (chelidamic acid), was prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It consists of a trinuclear terbium cluster bonded to a Keggin-type polyoxotungstate. In the terbium cluster three crystallographically equivalent Tb3+ ions are bridged by carboxylate oxygen atoms belonging to three chelidamic acid units to form an equilateral triangle. These triangle units connect to each other through hydrogen-bonding and anion-π interactions. A CSD survey was carried out focusing on the cation and the ligand roles in the structure formation of this type of compounds. Finally, DFT calculations were used to analyse the role of the anion-π interactions that are important in the formation of 1D supramolecular assemblies in the solid state. The noncovalent interaction plot (NCIplot) computational tool has been used to characterize the anion-π interaction.

Abstract
Herein, we report on a new hybrid compound (NH4){[Cu(dien)(H2O)2]2[β-VMo7O26]}·1.5H2O (1), where dien = diethylenetriamine, containing an extremely rare mixed-metal pseudo-octamolybdate cluster. An ex situ EPR spectroscopy provided insights into the formation of paramagnetic species in reaction mixture and in solution of 1. The magneto-structural correlations revealed weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the [Cu(dien)]2+ cations transmitted by intermolecular pathways. The cyclic voltammetry showed the one-electron process associated with the Cu3+/Cu2+ oxidation followed by the multi-electron catalytic wave due to water oxidation with a faradaic yield of 86%. The title compound was thus employed in homogeneous water oxidation catalysis using tris(bipyridine)ruthenium photosensitizer. At pH 8.0, efficiency of the catalytic system attained 0.19 turnovers per second supported by the relatively mild water oxidation overpotential of 0.54 V. Abstract
Recalcitrant sulfur compounds are common impurities in crude oil. During combustion they produce SOx derivatives that are able to affect the atmospheric ozone layer, increasing the formation of acid rains, and reducing the life of the engine due to corrosion. In the last twenty years, many efforts have been devoted to develop conventional hydrodesulfurization (HDS) procedures, as well as alternative methods, such as selective adsorption, bio-desulfurization, oxidative desulfurization (ODS) under extractive conditions (ECODS), and others. Among them, the oxidative procedures have been usually accomplished by the use of toxic stoichiometric oxidants, namely potassium permanganate, sodium bromate and carboxylic and sulfonic peracids. As an alternative, increasing interest is devoted to selective and economical procedures based upon catalytic methods. Heterogeneous catalysis is of relevance in industrial ODS processes, since it reduces the leaching of active species and favors the recovery and reuse of the catalyst for successive transformations. The heterogenization of different types of high-valent metal transition-based organometallic complexes, able to promote the activation of stoichiometric benign oxidants like peroxides, can be achieved using various solid supports. Many successful cases have been frequently associated with the use of mesoporous silicas that have the advantage of easy surface modification by reaction with organosilanes, facilitating the immobilization of homogeneous catalysts. In this manuscript the application of SBA-15 as efficient support for different active metal species, able to promote the catalytic ODS of either model or real fuels is reviewed, highlighting its beneficial properties such as high surface area, narrow pore size distribution and tunable pore diameter dimensions. Related to this topic, the most relevant advances recently published, will be discussed and critically described.

Abstract
Developing efficient photocatalysts for direct oxidative coupling of alkenes and amines with O2 under mild conditions is very significant. Herein, ZnW-PYI is well-designed by assembling a [PZnW11O39(H2O)]5- photooxidation catalyst and chiral aminocatalyst pyrrolidine-2-ylimidazole (PYI) via a coordination model. ZnW-PYI efficiently catalyzed the synthesis of imines from alkenes and amines using O2 as the oxidant through nucleophilic catalysis by employing pyrrolidine as an organocatalyst. Combining a polyoxometalate and PYI within one single framework is an effective approach not only for stabilization and heterogenization of the redox-active catalyst and aminocatalyst but also for realization of compatibility between the reaction intermediates and synergy of multiple catalytic cycles.
