Abstract
Pyrazoles are rarely found in nature but are traditionally used in the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries, while other areas of use are also actively developing. However, they have also found numerous other applications. The search for new and efficient syntheses of these heterocycles is therefore highly relevant. The modular concept of multicomponent reactions (MCR) has paved a broad alley to heteroaromatics. The advantages over traditional methods are the broader scope and increased efficiency of these reactions. In particular, traditional multistep syntheses of pyrazoles have considerably been extended by MCR. Progress has been made in the cyclocondensation of 1,3-dielectrophiles that are generated in situ. Limitations in the regioselectivity of cyclocondensation with 1,3-dicarbonyls were overcome by the addition-cyclocondensation of α,β-unsaturated ketones. Embedding 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions into a one-pot process has additionally been developed for concise syntheses of pyrazoles. The MCR strategy also allows for concatenating classical condensation-based methodology with modern cross-coupling and radical chemistry, as well as providing versatile synthetic approaches to pyrazoles. This overview summarizes the most important MCR syntheses of pyrazoles based on ring-forming sequences in a flashlight fashion.

Abstract
A series of β-ketoenamines was synthesized from various phenacyl sulfoxides bearing 1-methyl-1H-tetrazole and oximes in moderate to excellent yields. The proposed mechanism involved the generation of α-sulfines from sulfoxides through thermolytic elimination, regiospecific formal [3 + 2] annulations, and elimination of SO2. This protocol provides convenient access to a variety of synthetically valuable N-unprotected β-enaminones with absolute Z selectivity.

Abstract
A trisulfur-radical-anion (S3̇-)-triggered C(sp2)-H amination of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl derivatives with simple amines has been demonstrated. This protocol provides convenient access to a variety of synthetically valuable N-unprotected and secondary β-enaminones with absolute Z selectivity and tertiary β-enaminones with E selectivity. Mechanistic probe and electronic structure theory calculations suggest that S3̇- initiates the nucleophilic attacks via a thiirane intermediate.

Abstract
A new method for direct synthesis of β-ketoenamines was developed by a BF3·OEt2-catalyzed cyclization of 1-iodoalkyne and α-keto acid followed by an amine-mediated ring-opening in one pot. Its metal-free conditions allowed the easy synthesis of those products bearing the transition metal-sensitive functional groups. Its three-component process achieved wide range of functionalized products.

Abstract
We describe the crystal structures of four indole derivatives with a phenyl ring at the 2-position and different carbonyl-linked substituents at the 3-position, namely 1-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)ethanone, C16H13NO, (I), 2-cyclo-hexyl-1-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)ethanone, C22H23NO, (II), 3,3-dimethyl-1-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)butan-1-one, C20H21NO, (III), and 3-benzoyl-2-phenyl-1H-indole, C21H15NO, (IV). In each case, the carbonyl-group O atom lies close to the indole-ring plane and points towards the benzene ring. The dihedral angles between the indole ring system and 2-phenyl ring for these structures are clustered in a narrow range around 65°. The dominant inter-molecular inter-action in each case is an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond, which generates a C(6) chain, although each structure possesses a different crystal symmetry. The C(6) chains are consolidated by different (C-H⋯O, C-H⋯π and π-π stacking) weak inter-actions, with little consistency between the structures.
