Abstract
BACKGROUND Childhood, adolescent, and young adult (CAYA) cancer survivors, at risk for late effects, including cancer-related fatigue, cardiovascular issues, and psychosocial challenges, may benefit from interventions stimulating behaviour adjustments. Three nurse-led eHealth interventions (REVIVER) delivered via video calls and elaborating on person-centred care, cognitive behaviour therapy and/or motivational interviewing were developed. These interventions target: 1) fatigue management, 2) healthier lifestyle behaviours, and 3) self-efficacy and self-management. This study aimed to assess the feasibility and potential effectiveness of the REVIVER interventions for CAYA cancer survivors and healthcare professionals. METHODS In a single-group mixed methods design, CAYA cancer survivors aged 16-54, more than five years post-treatment, were enrolled. Feasibility, assessed via Bowen's outcomes for feasibility studies, included acceptability, practicality, integration and implementation, demand and adherence. Qualitative data from semi-structured interviews and a focus group interview with survivors and healthcare professionals supplemented the evaluation. Paired sample t-tests assessed changes in self-reported quality of life, fatigue, lifestyle, self-management, and self-efficacy at baseline (T0), post-intervention (T1), and 6-month follow-up (T2). RESULTS The interventions and video consults were generally acceptable, practical, and successfully integrated and implemented. Success factors included the nurse consultant (i.e., communication, approach, and attitude) and the personalised approach. Barriers included sustainability concerns, technical issues, and short intervention duration. Regarding demand, 71.4%, 65.4%, and 100% of eligible CAYA cancer survivors engaged in the fatigue (N = 15), lifestyle (N = 17) and empowerment (N = 3) intervention, respectively, with 5, 5 and 2 participants interviewed, correspondingly. Low interest (demand) in the empowerment intervention (N = 3) and dropout rates of one-third for both fatigue and empowerment interventions were noted (adherence). Improvements in quality of life, fatigue (fatigue intervention), lifestyle (lifestyle intervention), self-efficacy, and self-management were evident among survivors who completed the fatigue and lifestyle interventions, with medium and large effect sizes observed immediately after the intervention and six months post-intervention. CONCLUSIONS Our study demonstrates the feasibility of nurse-led video coaching (REVIVER interventions) despite lower demand for the empowerment intervention and lower adherence to the fatigue and empowerment interventions. The medium and high effect sizes found for those who completed the interventions hold potential clinical significance for future studies investigating the effectiveness of the REVIVER interventions.

Abstract
PURPOSE Children with cancer experience low quality of life (QOL), yet heterogeneity underscores a need to understand how risk and resilience factors interact. This study evaluated if family functioning relates to QOL differentially depending on diagnosis and treatment intensity. METHODS Participants included children (ages 8-14) who completed treatment within six months for either brain tumor (BT; n = 42) or non-central nervous system solid tumor (ST; n = 29). Caregivers and children rated QOL and family functioning. Treatment intensity was categorized as low, moderate, or high. Cross-informant moderation models tested hypothesized interactions. RESULTS Child-reported family functioning significantly interacted with diagnosis and treatment intensity in models of caregiver-reported QOL. More maladaptive family functioning was associated with reduced QOL for children with BT and moderately-intense treatments. CONCLUSIONS Children with BT and moderate treatment intensities are sensitive to family functioning, highlighting an at-risk group to target for family-level intervention. Future work should evaluate these associations longitudinally.

Abstract
PURPOSE Describe prevalence and severity of fatigue in children and adolescents with burns during six months after hospital discharge, identify potential explanatory variables, and examine the relationship with exercise capacity. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fatigue was assessed using the Pediatric-Quality-of-Life-Inventory-Multidimensional-Fatigue-Scale (PedsQL-MFS) at discharge, and six weeks, three-, and six months after discharge. PedsQL-MFS scores ≥1 SD below the age-group specific non-burned reference mean were considered to signify fatigue. RESULTS Twenty-two children and adolescents (13 boys/9 girls, age 6-18 years, with burns covering 2-34% of total body surface area) were included. The prevalence of fatigue decreased from 65% (11/17) at discharge to 28% (5/18) six months after discharge. At group level, fatigue severity decreased over time, reaching healthy reference values from six weeks after discharge and beyond. At individual level, the course of fatigue severity varied widely. Fatigue severity at six months after discharge could not be predicted by age, sex, or burn severity (p = 0.51, p = 0.58, p = 0.95, respectively). The association with exercise capacity was weak (r = 0.062-0.538). CONCLUSIONS More than a quarter of pediatric burn patients reported fatigue six months after discharge. Further research in larger populations is required, including also the impact of burn-related fatigue on daily functioning and quality of life.Trial registration number: OND1353942Implications for rehabilitationFatigue should be recognized as a potential consequence of (pediatric) burns, even several months post burnFatigue should be assessed regularly after discharge in all children and adolescents with burns, as it seems not possible to predict its severity from age, sex, or burn severity characteristicsThe weak association between exercise capacity and self-reported fatigue suggests that burn-related fatigue is not simply a consequence of a reduced exercise capacity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Survivors of childhood neuroblastoma are at risk of multiple treatment-related health problems (late effects), impacting their quality of life. While late effects and quality of life among Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) childhood cancer survivors have been reported, the outcomes of neuroblastoma survivors specifically have not been reported, limiting critical information to inform treatment and care. METHODS Young neuroblastoma survivors or their parents (as proxy for survivors <16 years) were invited to complete a survey and optional telephone interview. Survivors' late effects, risk perceptions, health-care use, and health-related quality of life were surveyed and analyzed using descriptive statistics and linear regression analyses. In-depth interviews explored participants' experiences, knowledge, and perception of late effects and information needs. Thematic content analysis was used to summarize the data. RESULTS Thirty-nine neuroblastoma survivors or parents completed questionnaires (median age = 16 years, 39% male), with 13 also completing interviews. Thirty-two participants (82%) reported experiencing at least 1 late effect, most commonly dental problems (56%), vision/hearing problems (47%), and fatigue (44%). Participants reported high overall quality of life (index = 0.9, range = 0.2-1.0); however, more participants experienced anxiety/depression compared to the population norm (50% met criteria versus 25%, χ2 = 13, p < 0.001). Approximately half of participants (53%) believed they were at risk of developing further late effects. Qualitatively, participants reported knowledge gaps in understanding their risk of developing late effects. CONCLUSION Many neuroblastoma survivors appear to experience late effects, anxiety/depression and have unmet cancer-related information needs. This study highlights important areas for intervention to reduce the impact of neuroblastoma and its treatment in childhood and young adulthood.

Abstract
Background The number of cancer survivors and survivorship are increasing. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has not been widely studied in low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs). The aim of this study is to explore HRQOL of childhood brain tumor survivors and its determinants in Jordan. Methods Health-related quality of life information was collected from 80 patients treated at the King Hussein Cancer Center and their parents using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) Generic Core Scales questionnaire in Arabic. Multivariable linear OLS regression models were used to analyze correlates of HRQOL and compare differences between child- and parent-reported responses. Results Health-related quality of life scores reported by survivors and by parents were positively correlated on all subscales and total PedsQL scores (r = 0.59, P = .001). Survivors reported better HRQOL in cognitive subscale (β = 0.56, P = .03) and worse HRQOL in work subscale (β = 0.43, P = .04), but no significant differences in the physical, emotional, and social subscales and total PedsQL scores. Significant predictors of HRQOL reported by parents and by children were different. Supratentorial tumor location was associated with a 10.97-unit lower physical HRQOL score, and recurrence of tumors predicted a 17.5-unit lower total HRQOL score, indicating worse quality of life. Male gender (β = 14.9, P = .002) and diagnosis of hypopituitarism (β = 16.1, P = .03) were associated with better HRQOL. Furthermore, patients that only had radiotherapy treatment had better emotional HRQOL (β = 32.9, P = .006) compared to patients that had combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Conclusion This study provides evidence on determinants of HRQOL of pediatric brain tumor patients in Jordan. Future studies need to capitalize on the findings of this study to institute a system for regular assessment of quality of life of pediatric cancer patients in Jordan and other countries with similar health care systems and sociocultural backgrounds.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer among women worldwide. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to cover the existing research gap and contribute to existing knowledge to provide both researchers and clinicians with a better profile on the topic and consequently help improve the quality of life (QoL) of patients with BC. METHODS A comprehensive review of original articles published in English from January 2000 to October 2021 from databases including Embase, Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science was conducted based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. RESULTS Based on the meta-regression which examined a total of 9012 patients with BC, the QoL score calculated by EORTC QLQ-C30 was 64.72 (95% CI 59.24 to 70.20), while the score obtained from FACT-B was 84.39 (95% CI 64.24 to 104.54) and the scores from QLQ-BR23 and SF-36 were 66.33 (95% CI 62.76 to 69.90) and 57.23 (95% CI 47.65 to 66.82), respectively. A meta-analysis affirmed a significant direct relationship between the QoL score of patients with BC and their age (p=0.03). The results also revealed that the QoL scores of patients who had completed treatment were higher than those who were currently under treatment. CONCLUSION The present systematic review identified several factors that affect the QoL of women with BC worldwide and provided several implications for developing policy interventions to effectively improve the QoL of women with BC. In this way, clinicians can sufficiently give advice to their patients with the purpose of improving their QoL. PROSPERO registration number CRD42022309791.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Limited research has characterized cancer-related stress (CRS) among families of childhood cancer survivors. We examined the prevalence of CRS among survivors and caregivers, as well as its association with health risk perceptions (i.e., prognosis, risk for diminished quality of life) and views of survivor quality of life (QoL). METHODS At five years post-diagnosis or relapse, survivors (n = 100; Mage = 15.84 years; 89% White), mothers (n = 127), and fathers (n = 59) reported their CRS. Perceived prognosis and risk for diminished QoL were rated on a 0%-100% visual analogue scale, while the PedsQL assessed QoL. RESULTS CRS was low (M = 1.6-1.8, scale: 1-4); mothers reported greater stress than survivors, p = 0.038, d = 0.25. There was an indirect effect of survivors' perceived prognosis on their QoL through CRS, CI = 0.04 to 0.25, R2 = 0.32. Among mothers, there was an indirect effect of perceived prognosis/risk for diminished QoL on their reports of survivor QoL through CRS, CI = 0.03 to 0.23 and -0.15 to -0.03, R2 = 0.28 and 0.32, respectively. There were no indirect effects among fathers. CONCLUSIONS CRS may be an important, modifiable factor that could improve survivors' QoL. Research is needed to examine how CRS changes over time to assess the utility of interventions among female survivors, mothers, and those with lower prognosis estimates.

Abstract
Purpose: Adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer are at risk for late-effects that can impact how one perceives their health and well-being. Understanding beliefs about health competence and well-being among survivors can help identify support needs and increase adherence to long-term follow-up guidelines. This study examined differences in health competence beliefs and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) between AYA survivors of childhood cancer and matched healthy peers. In addition, the relationship between health competence beliefs and HRQOL, as well as the moderating effect of cancer survivorship, was investigated. Methods: Survivors (n = 49) and healthy peers (n = 54) completed measures about health competence beliefs (i.e., Health Perception, Cognitive Competence, Autonomy, and School/Work Functioning) and HRQOL. Multiple group analysis was used to investigate differences in health competence beliefs and HRQOL between survivors and peers. Multivariate multiple regression analyses were used to investigate the relationships between health competence beliefs and HRQOL. Finally, a history of cancer was examined as a possible moderator using additional multivariate multiple regression analyses. Results: Survivors reported significantly lower Health Perception, Cognitive Competence, Autonomy, and School/Work Functioning scores compared to healthy peers. Among both groups, Health Perception and Cognitive Competence scores were associated with multiple domains of HRQOL. These relationships were not moderated by having a history of cancer. Conclusions: Perceptions about one's health and cognitive abilities may impact HRQOL among AYA survivors of childhood cancer and health peers. Identifying those at risk for poor well-being may help to guide interventions aimed at increasing adherence to medical recommendations.

Abstract
Background Pediatric brain tumor survivors (PBTS) are at risk of worse quality of life (QOL) due to the impact of neurotoxic treatments on the developing nervous system. Parenting factors such as protectiveness have been linked to worse QOL in childhood cancer survivors generally, but have yet to be explored for PBTS. We examined whether parenting behaviors moderated the association between neurotoxic treatment and QOL for PBTS. Methods PBTS (n = 40; ages 10-25) and their caregivers (n = 47) completed measures of parenting behaviors including warmth (support/connectedness) and psychological control (protectiveness) and QOL. We divided the sample into moderate/high and low neurotoxicity groups based on chart review using the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Rating of Treatment Intensity and examined moderator effects. Results Survivor-reported primary caregiver warmth moderated the relationship between neurotoxicity and caregiver-reported QOL. Moderate/high neurotoxicity was associated with lower caregiver-reported QOL only when survivor-reported primary caregiver warmth was low, P = .02. Similar results were found for survivor-reported QOL. Caregiver-reported psychological control moderated the association between neurotoxicity and caregiver-reported QOL such that neurotoxicity only affected QOL at high levels of psychological control, P = .01. Conclusions Heightened associations between parenting and QOL in the context of neurotoxic treatments underscore the need to better support PBTS. Findings are consistent with research suggesting that family factors may be particularly important for children with other neurological insults. Limitations include cross-sectional design and a small/heterogeneous clinical sample with low ethnic/racial diversity. Prospective studies are needed to refine evidence-based screening and develop psychosocial intervention strategies to optimize QOL for PBTS and their families.

Abstract
PURPOSE Pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is the most common lung cancer of infancy and early childhood and is associated with germline DICER1 variants. Type I and Ir PPB are cystic lesions treated surgically, with a subset of children with type I receiving chemotherapy. Type II and III are more aggressive lesions, treated with surgery, intensive chemotherapy and potentially radiation. We sought to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children with PPB and known germline DICER1 variants. METHODS Children with a diagnosis of PPB or germline DICER1 pathogenic variant without history of PPB or other DICER1-related neoplasm (DICER1+ only) were enrolled in the International PPB/DICER1 Registry. Parent reports for participants aged 2-17 years for the PedsQL v.4 and PedsQL Multidimensional Fatigue Scale v.3 were collected. Fatigue, physical, and psychosocial function scores were compared. RESULTS Analysis included 84 participants (PPB type Ir = 20, type I = 15, type II/III = 27, DICER1+ only = 22). Total fatigue scores of participants with type I and II/III PPB were lower compared to DICER1+ only, with effect size larger in type II/III (-0.82 vs. -0.40). Total psychosocial and physical functioning scores were lower in participants with type I and type II/III PPB compared to DICER1+ only, with larger effects noted in type II/III. Female sex was suggestive of worse HRQoL for both type I/Ir and type II/III cohorts. CONCLUSIONS These data demonstrate the importance of regular HRQoL assessment in patients with a history of PPB as well as the importance and feasibility of studying HRQoL in children with rare tumors.

Abstract
CONTEXT There is no universal definition of cancer-related fatigue (CRF) specific to childhood cancer survivors, despite this population facing unique long-term side effects from their cancer. We aimed to synthesize and combine existing definitions of CRF specific to this context to inform on the necessity of a panel of experts to formulate a new definition of CRF for childhood cancer survivors. METHODS The literature search was performed in various databases. Titles, abstracts, and keywords were screened by two researchers to confirm eligibility. The data extraction process was performed by two researchers. Our search was conducted in various databases. RESULTS Thirty articles were included in the qualitative analysis. Two coders reached consensus on 14 codes. The thematization process produced 4 themes: frequency, context, attributes, and consequences of CRF. These themes were used to synthesize a definition of CRF, as follows: "In childhood cancer survivors, cancer-related fatigue is a common late effect of cancer and cancer treatments. It is characterized by a subjective, persistent, and multidimensional experience that differs from normal fatigue in the physical, emotional, and/or cognitive spheres. Cancer-related fatigue may have a variety of negative consequences including a reduced quality of life and level of functioning, a lack of vigor, work difficulties, relationship issues, and emotional distress." CONCLUSION A definition of CRF applicable to childhood cancer survivors is timely to organize research efforts and design appropriate interventions. The proposed definition is a first step towards the formulation of a new definition of CRF specific to childhood cancer survivors by experts.

Fatigue trajectories during pediatric ALL therapy are associated with fatigue after treatment: a national longitudinal cohort study. Support Care Cancer 2023; 31:1. Abstract
OBJECTIVE Fatigue is one of the most prevalent and distressing symptoms reported by survivors of childhood cancer. There is currently a lack of longitudinal studies on cancer-related fatigue, and especially on the relationship between the course of fatigue during treatment and fatigue at follow-up. The purpose of the current study was therefore to investigate if the course of fatigue during treatment, treatment intensity, serious adverse events, sex, or age at diagnosis are associated with cancer-related fatigue after treatment. METHODS Participants were 92 children and adolescents diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (mean age at diagnosis was 6.26 years). Fatigue was measured with PedsQL multidimensional fatigue scale proxy reports 5 months after diagnosis, 12 months after diagnosis, 24 months after diagnosis, and at follow-up 12 months after end of treatment. The effect of patient and treatment characteristics on fatigue reported at follow-up was tested through logistic regression analyses. RESULTS The course of fatigue during treatment significantly predicted fatigue reported at follow-up for general fatigue (p = .038, OR = 9.20), sleep/rest fatigue (p = .011, OR = 15.48), and cognitive fatigue (p < .001, OR = 10.78). None of the other variables were associated with fatigue at follow-up for any of the subscales. CONCLUSIONS The findings demonstrate that fatigue reported during treatment can predict fatigue at follow-up. These results stress the need for longitudinal assessments. Healthcare professionals need to be aware that pediatric patients who are fatigued during treatment need to receive additional attention and timely interventions since cancer-related fatigue will not resolve by itself in the first year after end of treatment.

Abstract
PURPOSE Survivors of paediatric intracranial tumours are at increased risk of psychosocial, neuro-developmental, and functional impairment. This study aimed to evaluate long-term health-related quality-of-life (HRQOL) outcomes in patients with benign paediatric brain tumours treated curatively with surgical resection alone. METHODOLOGY This was a cross-sectional study of patients with benign paediatric intracranial tumours managed with surgery alone between 2000 and 2015. Eligible patients with a minimum of 5-years follow-up after surgery were identified. Validated health-related quality of life (HRQOL) questionnaires were administered: SF-36, QLQ-BN20, QLQ-C30 and PedsQL™. RESULTS Twenty-three patients participated (median age at surgery 13 years; range 1-18; 12 male). The most common diagnosis was pilocytic astrocytoma (n = 15). Median time from surgery to participation was 11 years(range 6-19). Fourteen patients achieved A-level qualifications and two obtained an undergraduate degree. Twelve patients were employed, eight were studying and three were unemployed or volunteering. HRQOL outcomes demonstrated significant limitation from social functioning (p = 0.03) and cognitive functioning (p = 0.023) compared to the general population. Patients also experienced higher rates of loss of appetite (p = 0.009) and nausea and vomiting (p = 0.031). Ten patients were under transitional teenager and young-adult (TYA) clinic follow-up. TYA patients achieved higher levels of education (p = 0.014), were more likely to hold a driver's license (p = 0.041) compared to patients not followed-up through these services. CONCLUSIONS Childhood brain-tumour survivors have a greater risk of developing psychological, neuro-cognitive and physical impairment. Early comprehensive assessment, specialist healthcare and TYA services are vital to support these patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Young adult childhood cancer survivors (YACCS) are a vulnerable group in need of psychosocial support, but tailored interventions are lacking. AIM To examine feasibility and satisfaction, and to explore preliminary effectiveness of an online group intervention (Op Koers Online for YACCS) aimed at teaching active coping skills and providing peer-contact, thereby reducing and preventing psychosocial problems in YACCS. The intervention is based on psycho-education, cognitive behavioral therapy, and aspects of acceptance and commitment therapy. METHODS YACCS completed questionnaires pre- and post-intervention. Feasibility was based on attendance, drop-out, and an evaluation questionnaire was administered to assess satisfaction. Preliminary effectiveness was evaluated with the Mastery Scale, Illness Cognition Questionnaire, Distress Thermometer, Impact of Cancer - Childhood Survivors, and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory. Preliminary effectiveness was investigated by testing differences on the psychosocial outcomes (coping and psychosocial wellbeing) between T0 and T1 within respondents, using paired samples t tests and Cohen's d. RESULTS 10 YACCS participated in the intervention and completed all questionnaires. There was no drop-out; 90% of participants attended five out of six sessions. Overall, participants were satisfied with the intervention; 7.6 on a 0-10 scale. Distress (Cohen's d=-.6, p=.030) and feelings of helplessness (Cohen's d=-.8, p=.001) reduced from T0 to T1, while self-efficacy (Cohen's d=.8, p=.013,) improved. Other outcomes displayed small effects, but did not change significantly. CONCLUSIONS This first, small pilot study showed short-term decrease in distress and feelings of helplessness and improvement of self-efficacy. Op Koers Online was positively evaluated by YACCS and course leaders, filling a gap in psychosocial services for YACCS.

Abstract
Background: Fatigue is a well-established consequence of cranial radiotherapy in survivors of pediatric brain tumor, but less is known about acute fatigue during radiotherapy treatment. This study aimed to longitudinally evaluate fatigue in newly diagnosed pediatric patients with brain tumors during treatment. Methods: Primary caregivers of pediatric patients with brain tumors completed the proxy-reported Parent Fatigue Scale assessments prior to radiotherapy and weekly during radiotherapy treatment. The association between clinical factors and fatigue at each assessment was evaluated with multiple linear regressions. A comparison of fatigue between radiation modalities was also analyzed. Results: A total of 33 caregivers completed pre-radiation fatigue assessments, with 29 reporting fatigue during radiotherapy. Patients were aged 3 to 16 years (M = 8.32) at diagnosis and diagnosed with medulloblastoma (n = 23), primitive neuroectodermal tumor (n = 2), ependymoma (n = 1), germ cell tumor (n = 1), pineoblastoma (n = 1), atypical teratoid rhabdoid (n = 1), and other unspecific tumors (n = 3). Moderate-to-severe fatigue was reported for the majority of patients (31/33; 94%) during treatment. Craniospinal irradiation dose was the only significant predictor of fatigue (p < .05), but this association was restricted to the first week of therapy and was attenuated by therapy completion. Discussion: Although fatigue is often considered a long-term consequence of cranial radiotherapy, this pilot study demonstrates that moderate-to-severe fatigue is pervasive prior to radiotherapy and persists throughout treatment in pediatric patients with brain tumors, regardless of radiation modality or clinical factors. Additional research is warranted to establish a link between acute and long-term fatigue and develop interventions to mitigate this adverse outcome.

Abstract
Background: Retinoblastoma (RB) is a malignant intraocular tumor diagnosed in early childhood that requires extensive medical and surgical treatment at a young age. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is thought to be diminished due to visual impairment, facial deformities, and fear of recurrence or secondary cancer. However, few studies have identified variables associated with HRQOL among those with RB. Purpose: To compare HRQOL of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with RB to matched controls and to identify predictors of HRQOL in RB survivors. Methods: Using a cross-sectional design, 198 AYAs (101 RBs and 97 controls) completed HRQOL (PROMIS®-29 profile) and psychosocial questionnaires (Rosenberg self-esteem scale, multidimensional scale of perceived social support, and Hollingshead index for socioeconomic status). Clinical variables (age at diagnosis, visual acuity, laterality, heredity, treatment regime, and anesthesia exposure) were extracted from the medical record. Correlates of HRQOL were estimated using linear regression models. Results: RB survivors reported similar HRQOL compared to controls. Physical function (p < .001), social support (p = .013), and self-esteem (p = .028) were lower in the RB group compared to controls. Visual acuity and self-esteem accounted for 52% of the variance in PROMIS physical health summary scores and self-esteem accounted for 38% of the variance in mental health summary scores. Conclusion: Despite deficits in physical function and self-esteem HRQOL in RB survivors was comparable to healthy counterparts. However, the majority of RB survivors in this study had normal visual acuity. Clinicians should explore ways to enhance self-esteem in RB survivors.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We aimed to identify contributors to cancer-related fatigue (CRF), explore non-pharmacological interventions addressing CRF, and highlight which contributors were targeted by these interventions in childhood cancer survivors. METHODS We performed a search in various databases and used the PRISMA-ScR checklist. Findings were synthesized in various different tables and figures in accordance with our objectives. RESULTS We included 49 articles in this systematic scoping review. We identified 59 significant contributors. Depression and physical activity level were some of the most studied significant contributors. Ten interventional studies were identified (e.g., yoga, physical activity intervention) that addressed 6 contributors (e.g., physical activity level). DISCUSSION This review is the first to describe and relate contributors and non-pharmacological interventions targeting CRF in childhood cancer survivors. Important clinical implications could be derived from the variety of factors explaining CRF and how it is currently addressed.

Abstract
This study sought to better understand specific factors contributing to fatigue in survivors of pediatric cancer and hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). As part of a larger study evaluating long-term psychosocial functioning of pediatric cancer survivors, N = 87 participants completed measures assessing fatigue and emotional and behavioral functioning. Chart abstraction was used to catalog diagnosis, treatments received, treatment intensity, and late effects. Results suggest clinically significant fatigue in n = 4 (4.6%) of survivors participating in this study. Fatigue was greater for participants with more recent diagnoses and who were more recently off treatment and was positively associated with parent and self-report of internalizing (emotional) and externalizing (behavioral) symptoms. Participants with more severe late effects suffered greater fatigue; however, fatigue was not associated with treatment intensity or therapy type. Fatigue is an important variable to consider in evaluating the social, emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being of cancer and HSCT survivors. Interventions are needed to address fatigue directly, while also addressing both contributing factors to fatigue and potential negative outcomes that result from fatigue in survivorship.

Abstract
Tumors of the central nervous system are the most common solid malignancies diagnosed in children. While common, they are also found to have some of the lowest survival rates of all malignancies. Treatment of childhood brain tumors often consists of operative gross total resection with adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The current body of literature is largely inconclusive regarding the overall benefit of adjuvant chemo- or radiotherapy. However, it is known that both are associated with conditions that lower the quality of life in children who undergo those treatments. Chemotherapy is often associated with nausea, emesis, significant fatigue, immunosuppression, and alopecia. While radiotherapy can be effective for achieving local control, it is associated with late effects such as endocrine dysfunction, secondary malignancy, and neurocognitive decline. Advancements in radiotherapy grant both an increase in lifetime survival and an increased lifetime for survivors to contend with these late effects. In this review, the authors examined all the published literature, analyzing the results of clinical trials, case series, and technical notes on patients undergoing radiotherapy for the treatment of tumors of the central nervous system with a focus on neurocognitive decline and survival outcomes.

Abstract
Simple Summary Survivors of childhood cancer have an increased risk to experience symptoms of severe and persistent fatigue. We studied how fatigue might affect the health-related quality of life of these survivors. Questionnaire items asking about a broad range of daily life aspects were compared between fatigued survivors, survivors without fatigue and the general Dutch population. A total of eleven aspects were studied which were all negatively affected by fatigue, with the largest impact seen for Vitality (how much energy does a person have), General Health (perception of current and future health) and Role Limitations (work-related activities). Results show the negative impact fatigue can have on the daily lives of survivors and why it is important to treat fatigue adequately. Abstract Background: Early detection and management of late effects of treatment and their impact on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has become a key goal of childhood cancer survivorship care. One of the most prevalent late effects is chronic fatigue (CF). The current study aimed to investigate the association between CF and HRQOL in a nationwide cohort of CCS. Methods: Participants were included from the Dutch Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (DCCSS) LATER cohort, a nationwide cohort of CCS. Participants completed the Checklist Individual Strength (CIS) to indicate CF (CIS fatigue severity subscale ≥ 35 and duration of symptoms ≥6 months) and the Short Form-36 (SF-36) and TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) and AZL (Leiden University Medical Centre) Adult’s Health-Related Quality of Life questionnaire (TAAQOL) as measures for HRQOL. Differences in mean HRQOL domain scores between CF and non-CF participants were investigated using independent samples t-tests and ANCOVA to adjust for age and sex. The association between CF and impaired HRQOL (scoring ≥ 2 SD below the population norm) was investigated using logistic regression analyses, adjusting for confounders. Results: A total of 1695 participants were included in the study. Mean HRQOL domain scores were significantly lower in participants with CF. In addition, CF was associated with impaired HRQOL on all of the domains (except physical functioning) with adjusted odds ratios ranging from 2.1 (95% CI 1.3–3.4; sexuality domain) to 30.4 (95% CI 16.4–56.2; vitality domain). Conclusions: CF is associated with impaired HRQOL, urging for the screening and regular monitoring of fatigue, and developing possible preventative programs and interventions.

Abstract
Introduction: Survivors of pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors are at high risk for late effects and long-term morbidity. The quality of survival became increasingly important, as advances in diagnostics, multimodal treatment strategies, and supportive care have led to significant increases in long-term survival. Aim: This review aims to provide a global overview of the potential late effects and long-term follow-up care of CNS tumor survivors, directed to trainees and practitioners with less targeted training in pediatric oncology. Late effects in CNS tumor survivors: A specific focus on CNS tumor survivors relies on cognitive and psychosocial late effects, as they may have an impact on education, professional career, independent living, and quality of life. Further important late effects in CNS tumor survivors include endocrine, metabolic, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular diseases. Conclusions: Comprehensive long-term follow-up care is essential for pediatric CNS tumor survivors to improve their quality of survival and quality of life. An individualized approach, taking all potential late effects into account, and carried out by an interdisciplinary team, is recommended, and should continue into adulthood. Existing recommendations and guidelines on long-term follow-up care guide the multidisciplinary teams.

The impact of CNS-directed treatment on quality of life in childhood cancer survivors. Qual Life Res 2022; 31:817-829. Abstract
PURPOSE Pediatric cancer survivors may have lower quality of life (QoL), but most research has assessed outcomes either in treatment or long-term survivorship. We focused on early survivorship (i.e., 3 and 5 years post-diagnosis), examining the impact of CNS-directed treatment on child QoL, as well as sex and age at diagnosis as potential moderators. METHODS Families of children with cancer (ages 5-17) were recruited at diagnosis or relapse (N = 336). Survivors completed the PedsQL at 3 (n = 96) and 5 years (n = 108), along with mothers (101 and 105, respectively) and fathers (45 and 53, respectively). The impact of CNS treatment, sex, and age at diagnosis on child QoL was examined over both time since diagnosis and time since last treatment using mixed model analyses. RESULTS Parent-report of the child's total QoL was in the normative range and stable between 3 and 5 years when examining time since diagnosis, while child reported QoL improved over time (p = 0.04). In terms of time since last treatment, mother and child both reported the child's QoL improved over time (p = 0.0002 and p = 0.0006, respectively). Based on parent-report, males with CNS-directed treatment had lower total QoL than females and males who did not receive CNS-directed treatment. Age at diagnosis did not moderate the impact of treatment type on total QoL. CONCLUSIONS Quality of life (QoL) in early survivorship may be low among males who received CNS-directed treatment. However, this was only evident on parent-report. Interventions to improve child QoL should focus on male survivors who received CNS-directed treatment, as well as females regardless of treatment type.

Abstract
PURPOSE Survivors of childhood brain tumors (BT) are at high risk for long-term physical and psychological sequelae. Still, knowledge about health-related quality of life (HRQL) and associated factors in this population is sparse. This study investigated HRQL and its predictors in long-term survivors of childhood BT. METHODS Survivors of childhood BT (mean age = 28.1 years, SD = 6.8, n = 60) underwent clinical examination and neurocognitive examination, and completed self-rating questionnaires assessing HRQL (RAND-36) and depressive symptoms (Beck Depression Inventory-II). Socio-demographic information was gathered via a questionnaire. Tumor- and treatment-related information was collected from medical records. Control group data were collected from age-matched controls (n = 146) without a history of cancer, randomly selected from the local population registry. Multiple linear regression models were used to investigate predictors of HRQL; separate models were fitted for each domain of the RAND-36. RESULTS Male survivors (mean age = 27.0, SD = 6.0, n = 39) reported significantly lower HRQL than male controls in the domains of physical functioning, general health, vitality, social functioning, and role limitations-emotional. Female survivors (mean age = 30.2 years, SD = 7.6, n = 21) reported comparable levels as female controls in all domains except physical functioning. A higher burden of late effects, not working/studying, being diagnosed with BT during adolescence, and reporting current depressive symptoms were significant predictors of lower HRQL. CONCLUSION Our results highlight that male survivors of childhood BT are at particular risk of impaired HRQL. Also, results point to the close relation between symptoms of depression and impaired HRQL in survivors of childhood BT which should be acknowledged by long-term follow-up care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Youth with craniopharyngioma experience weight gain, fragmented sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), fatigue, and psychosocial problems that negatively impact their overall health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Greater hypothalamic tumor involvement (HI) may be associated with higher rates or severity of these impairments; however, the direct and indirect impact of HI on the physical and psychosocial consequences associated with pediatric craniopharyngioma remain unclear. The purpose of the current study was to examine relations between HI, body mass index (BMI), fragmented sleep, EDS, fatigue, psychosocial problems, and HRQoL among youth with craniopharyngioma. METHODS Eighty-four youth with craniopharyngioma (Mage = 10.27 ± 4.3 years, 53.6% female, 64.3% White) were assessed with actigraphy, nocturnal polysomnography, and multiple sleep latency tests prior to proton therapy, when indicated. Caregivers completed measures of fatigue, psychosocial functioning, and HRQoL. RESULTS Hypothalamic tumor involvement was associated with greater BMI (Est. = 2.97, p = 0.003) and daytime sleepiness (Est. = 2.53, p = 0.01). Greater fatigue predicted more psychosocial problems (Est. = 0.29, p < 0.001) and lower HRQoL (Est. = 0.23, p = 0.001). Psychosocial problems also predicted lower HRQoL (Est. = -0.34, p = 0.004). Fragmented sleep (Est. = 0.03, p = 0.04) and fatigue (Est. = 0.10, p = 0.02) indirectly predicted lower HRQoL through psychosocial problems. CONCLUSIONS Youth with craniopharyngioma with greater HI may benefit from weight reduction interventions and management of excessive sleepiness. Patients should be prospectively monitored for sleep problems, fatigue, and psychosocial problems, as these patients may benefit from interventions targeting fatigue and psychosocial health to improve HRQoL.

Abstract
The five-year survival rate of childhood cancer has increased substantially over the past 50 yr; however, racial/ethnic disparities in health outcomes of survival have not been systematically reviewed. This scoping review summarized health disparities between racial/ethnic minorities (specifically non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic) and non-Hispanic White childhood cancer survivors, and elucidated factors that may explain disparities in health outcomes. We used the terms “race”, “ethnicity”, “childhood cancer”, “pediatric cancer”, and “survivor” to search the title and abstract for the articles published in PubMed and Scopus from inception to February 2021. After removing duplicates, 189 articles were screened, and 23 empirical articles were included in this review study. All study populations were from North America, and the mean distribution of race/ethnicity was 6.9% for non-Hispanic Black and 4.5% for Hispanic. Health outcomes were categorized as healthcare utilization, patient-reported outcomes, chronic health conditions, and survival status. We found robust evidence of racial/ethnic disparities over four domains of health outcomes. However, health disparities were explained by clinical factors (e.g., diagnosis, treatment), demographic (e.g., age, sex), individual-level socioeconomic status (SES; e.g., educational attainment, personal income, health insurance coverage), family-level SES (e.g., family income, parent educational attainment), neighborhood-level SES (e.g., geographic location), and lifestyle health risk (e.g., cardiovascular risk) in some but not all articles. We discuss the importance of collecting comprehensive social determinants of racial/ethnic disparities inclusive of individual-level, family-level, and neighborhood-level SES. We suggest integrating these variables into healthcare systems (e.g., electronic health records), and utilizing information technology and analytics to better understand the disparity gap for racial/ethnic minorities of childhood cancer survivors. Furthermore, we suggest national and local efforts to close the gap through improving health insurance access, education and transportation aid, racial-culture-specific social learning interventions, and diversity informed training.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The relationship between fatigue and cognition has not been fully elucidated in children and adolescent survivors of brain tumours. The aim of the present study was to investigate the potential relationship between fatigue and cognitive impairments in these survivors, as this group is at risk for both types of deficits. METHODS Survivors of paediatric brain tumours (n = 45) underwent a neuropsychological testing on average 4 years after diagnosis. Mean age at follow-up was 13.41 years. Cognition was assessed with neuropsychological tests, and fatigue with the Pediatric Quality of Life (PedsQL™) Multidimensional Fatigue Scale. Regression analysis, adjusted for cranial radiotherapy and age at diagnosis, was used to investigate the associations between cognitive variables and fatigue subscales. Cognitive variables associated with fatigue were subsequently exploratively assessed. RESULTS Significant associations were found for cognitive fatigue and measures of cognitive processing speed; Coding: p = .003, r = .583, 95% CI [9.61; 22.83] and Symbol Search: p = .001, r = .585, 95% CI [10.54; 24.87]. Slower processing speed was associated with poorer results for cognitive fatigue. Survivors with the largest decrease in processing speed from baseline to follow-up also experienced the most cognitive fatigue. Survivors expressed more cognitive fatigue compared to other types of fatigue. CONCLUSIONS The association between cognitive fatigue and cognitive processing speed in children and adolescents treated for brain tumours is in concordance with the results previously reported in adults. Some survivors experience fatigue without impairment in processing speed, indicating the need for comprehensive assessments. Moreover, the study supports that fatigue is a multidimensional concept which should be measured accordingly.

Abstract
Background: Children treated for brain tumors often experience persistent problems affecting their activity performance and participation in everyday life, especially in school. Linking these problems to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) classification system can be described as affecting body function, activity performance, and/or participation. Services involved in the everyday life of the child have different focus and goals when meeting the child in context, which advantage the use of ICF to overcome this impediment to follow-up and provide comprehensive support for children who have completed treatment for a brain tumor. Aim: The aim of the study was to use the ICF classification system to describe how professionals in healthcare, habilitation, and school document problems with everyday life functioning at body, activity, and participation levels for children who completed treatment for a brain tumor. Materials and Methods: A retrospective review of records from healthcare, habilitation, and school concerning nine children completed treatment for brain tumor was implemented. Identified problems in everyday life were linked to ICF codes. Descriptive statistics of ICF-linked code frequency supplemented by network visualization diagrams viewing the co-occurrence between codes within the body, activity participation, and environmental components were performed. Results: Most documented problems were found in healthcare records, whereas the documentation in habilitation and school was sparse. The frequently occurring codes, independent of record source, were linked to the body function component, and ICF-linked problems in habilitation and school were salient in the activity and participation component. To gain a holistic picture of relations between ICF codes and problems, network visualization diagrams were used to illustrate clusters of problems. Conclusion: Code prevalence likely reflects where healthcare professionals and educators focus their attention when meeting the needs of children treated for a brain tumor in context. To maximize the comprehensive view of functioning and participation of children in everyday life, the full range of difficulties regarding body impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions must be identified and linked to each other in patterns of co-occurrence, which the ICF facilitate. However, ICF provides no guidance on how to identify networks of problems within the body, activity, and participation. Identifying such networks is important for building comprehensive interventions for children.

Abstract
Breast cancer arises as a result of multiple interactions between environmental and genetic factors. Conventionally, breast cancer is treated based on histopathological and clinical features. DNA technologies like the human genome microarray are now partially integrated into clinical practice and are used for developing new "personalized medicines" and "pharmacogenetics" for improving the efficiency and safety of cancer medications. We investigated the effects of four established therapies-for ER+ ductal breast cancer-on the differential gene expression. The therapies included single agent tamoxifen, two-agent docetaxel and capecitabine, or combined three-agents CAF (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and fluorouracil) and CMF (cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, and fluorouracil). Genevestigator 8.1.0 was used to compare five datasets from patients with infiltrating ductal carcinoma, untreated or treated with selected drugs, to those from the healthy control. We identified 74 differentially expressed genes involved in three pathways, i.e., apoptosis (extrinsic and intrinsic), oxidative signaling, and PI3K/Akt signaling. The treatments affected the expression of apoptotic genes (TNFRSF10B [TRAIL], FAS, CASP3/6/7/8, PMAIP1 [NOXA], BNIP3L, BNIP3, BCL2A1, and BCL2), the oxidative stress-related genes (NOX4, XDH, MAOA, GSR, GPX3, and SOD3), and the PI3K/Akt pathway gene (ERBB2 [HER2]). Breast cancer treatments are complex with varying drug responses and efficacy among patients. This necessitates identifying novel biomarkers for predicting the drug response, using available data and new technologies. GSR, NOX4, CASP3, and ERBB2 are potential biomarkers for predicting the treatment response in primary ER+ ductal breast carcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A debilitating late effect for childhood cancer survivors (CCS) is cancer-related fatigue (CRF). Little is known about the prevalence and risk factors of fatigue in this population. Here we describe the methodology of the Dutch Childhood Cancer Survivor Late Effect Study on fatigue (DCCSS LATER fatigue study). The aim of the DCCSS LATER fatigue study is to examine the prevalence of and factors associated with CRF, proposing a model which discerns predisposing, triggering, maintaining and moderating factors. Triggering factors are related to the cancer diagnosis and treatment during childhood and are thought to trigger fatigue symptoms. Maintaining factors are daily life- and psychosocial factors which may perpetuate fatigue once triggered. Moderating factors might influence the way fatigue symptoms express in individuals. Predisposing factors already existed before the diagnosis, such as genetic factors, and are thought to increase the vulnerability to develop fatigue. Methodology of the participant inclusion, data collection and planned analyses of the DCCSS LATER fatigue study are presented. RESULTS Data of 1955 CCS and 455 siblings was collected. Analysis of the data is planned and we aim to start reporting the first results in 2022. CONCLUSION The DCCSS LATER fatigue study will provide information on the epidemiology of CRF and investigate the role of a broad range of associated factors in CCS. Insight in associated factors for fatigue in survivors experiencing severe and persistent fatigue may help identify individuals at risk for developing CRF and may aid in the development of interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Survivors of childhood cancer are prone to an increased risk of chronic issues such as cardiovascular disease, fatigue, weight-related problems, and emotional disturbances. OBJECTIVE This study utilized the biopsychosocial model to examine the hypothesis that greater depression and lower mobility would be significantly associated with greater fatigue and higher body mass index in survivors of childhood cancer. METHODS Data were analyzed for 144 children treated and followed up for an oncology condition at a southeastern academic medical center. Voluntarily, children completed the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System 1.0, and parents completed the Family Symptom Inventory as part of a brief annual psychosocial screening battery. Height and weight were collected by a clinic nurse prior to questionnaire completion. RESULTS Hierarchical linear regression showed that shorter time since diagnosis (β = -.154, P < .05), greater child-reported depression (β = .396, P < .01), and lower mobility (β = .427, P < .01) significantly predicted greater fatigue (adjusted R = 0.54). Older age (β = .262, P < .01) and not receiving chemotherapy (β = -.209, P < .05) significantly predicted higher body mass index (adjusted R = 0.051). CONCLUSIONS Findings showed that fatigue tends to improve over time after treatment but may be predicted by greater depression symptoms and lower mobility in recent survivors of childhood cancer. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE For survivors of childhood cancer with higher levels of fatigue, treating symptoms of depression and maximizing physical and mobility may be of clinical value. With the impact of psychological and social factors not yet understood in pediatric cancer survivors, weight status in recent survivors of childhood cancer is likely a complex interaction between biological and treatment factors.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to increase our understanding of the psychosocial well-being of young adult childhood cancer survivors (YACCS) as well as the positive and negative impacts of cancer. Methods YACCS (aged 18–30, diagnosed ≤ 18, time since diagnosis ≥ 5 years) cross-sectionally filled out the “Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Young Adults” (PedsQL-YA), “Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale” (HADS), and “Checklist Individual Strengths” (CIS-20R) to measure fatigue and survivor-specific “Impact of Cancer - Childhood Survivors” (IOC-CS), which measures the long-term impact of childhood cancer in several domains. Descriptive statistics (IOC-CS), logistic regression (HADS, CIS-20R), and ANOVA (PedsQL-YA, HADS, CIS-20R) were performed. Associations between positive and negative impacts of childhood cancer and psychosocial outcomes were examined with linear regression analyses. Results YACCS (N = 151, 61.6% female, mean age 24.1 ± 3.6, mean time since diagnosis 13.6 ± 3.8) reported lower HRQOL (− .4 ≤ d ≤ − .5, p ≤ .001) and more anxiety (d = .4, p ≤ .001), depression (d = .4, p ≤ .01), and fatigue (.3 ≤ d ≤ .5, p ≤ .001) than young adults from the general Dutch population. They were at an increased risk of experiencing (sub)clinical anxiety (OR = 1.8, p = .017). YACCS reported more impact on scales representing a positive rather than negative impact of CC. Various domains of impact of childhood cancer were related to psychosocial outcomes, especially “Life Challenges” (HRQOL β = − .18, anxiety β = .36, depression β = .29) and “Body & Health” (HRQOL β = .27, anxiety β = − .25, depression β = − .26, fatigue β = − .47). Conclusion YACCS are vulnerable to psychosocial difficulties, but they also experience positive long-term impacts of childhood cancer. Positive and negative impacts of childhood cancer were associated with psychosocial outcomes in YACCS. Screening of psychosocial outcomes and offering targeted interventions are necessary to optimize psychosocial long-term follow-up care for YACCS.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Approximately half of patients with cancer have comorbidities, such as adjustment disorder, major depressive disorder, and delirium. Radiotherapy can cause psychological problems, e.g., the fear of treatment and its side effects, anxiety, depression, and social isolation. Health-related quality of life (QoL) must be determined to evaluate the effectiveness of cancer treatment. We analyzed the clinical, psychological, and sociodemographic factors influencing the QoL of patients with cancer who were undergoing radiotherapy. METHODS Twenty-six patients undergoing radiotherapy (10 male, 16 female) were included. Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected prior to radiotherapy. Psychosocial factors were assessed by self-reported questionnaires before, immediately after, and 3 months after radiotherapy. A multivariate regression analysis identified factors affecting QoL at each time point. RESULTS Patients' diagnoses were breast, cervical, prostate, endometrial, rectal, hypopharyngeal, laryngeal, liver, gallbladder, esophageal, ovarian, lung, and skin cancers. Before radiotherapy, better resilience was significantly associated with a higher QoL score (R2=0.199, p=0.033). Immediately after radiotherapy, financial difficulty was significantly associated with a lower QoL score (R2=0.274, p=0.010). Three months after radiotherapy, the presence of chronic disease (R2=0.398, p=0.002) and the severity of nausea and vomiting were significantly associated with a lower QoL score (R2=0.278, p=0.014). CONCLUSION Resilience, financial difficulty, the presence of chronic diseases, and the severity of nausea and vomiting significantly influenced the QoL of patients with cancer who were undergoing radiotherapy. Factors affecting QoL varied at each time point. Thus, patients with cancer should undergo regular mental health assessments, including assessments of QoL. Multidimensional (physical, psychological, and social) approaches and individualized time-based interventions are needed to improve the QoL of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy.

Abstract
CONTEXT Children with life-shortening serious illnesses and medically-complex care needs are often cared for by their families at home. Little, however, is known about what aspects of pediatric palliative and hospice care in the home setting (PPHC@Home) families value the most. OBJECTIVES To explore how parents rate and prioritize domains of PPHC@Home as the first phase of a larger study that developed a parent-reported measure of experiences with PPHC@Home. METHODS Twenty domains of high-value PPHC@Home, derived from the National Consensus Project's Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care, the literature, and a stakeholder panel, were evaluated. Using a discrete choice experiment, parents provided their ratings of the most and least valued PPHC@Home domains. We also explored potential differences in how subgroups of parents rated the domains. RESULTS Forty-seven parents participated. Overall, highest-rated domains included Physical aspects of care: Symptom management, Psychological/emotional aspects of care for the child, and Care coordination. Lowest-rated domains included Spiritual and religious aspects of care and Cultural aspects of care. In exploratory analyses, parents who had other children rated the Psychological/emotional aspects of care for the sibling(s) domain significantly higher than parents who did not have other children (P = 0.02). Furthermore, bereaved parents rated the Caregiversupportat the end of life domain significantly higher than parents who were currently caring for their child (P = 0.04). No other significant differences in domain ratings were observed. CONCLUSION Knowing what parents value most about PPHC@Home provides the foundation for further exploration and conversation about priority areas for resource allocation and care improvement efforts.

Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the quality of life and difficulties of adolescents in school age. This descriptive study was conducted in a city center three secondary School. Similarly from each school 114,114,116 people participated in the study, 4 students could not be included in the study due to insufficient data and the study was completed with 344 students. Questionnaire developed by the researcher, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) were used for data collection. Research was completed in line with the ethical principles. According to the evaluations, it was observed that 50.6% of the students was 13 years old, 52% was male, and 53.5% was in the seventh grade. The total score average for PedsQL was 81.58 ± 13.65, and the mean total score for SDQ was 25.02 ± 4.813. A positive and significant correlation was found between "behavioral problems" subscale score of the SDQ and all subscales of PedsQL except the "physical health" subscale as well as the positive and significant correlation between the mean total scores of PedsQL and SDQ. It was observed that the quality of life of the students is affected negatively as the difficulties experienced during adolescence increase. Abstract
BACKGROUND Children with brain tumor or acute leukemia are at risk for neurotoxic side effects associated with their cancer therapies. These long-term deficits include poor health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in school and lower educational achievement. Although social-ecological factors may impact these outcomes, it is not known which factors play a role. Our objective was to evaluate the factors affecting school HRQOL in Hispanic childhood cancer survivors, an important at-risk group. PROCEDURE Multivariable regression analyses examined whether selected social-ecological factors contribute toward suboptimal school HRQOL in 73 Hispanic children treated with central nervous system (CNS)-directed cancer therapies after accounting for effects associated with established cancer-related risk factors. RESULTS Consistent with expectations from prior research, in our multivariate analysis, the cancer-related factors of having a brain tumor diagnosis and being younger at cancer diagnosis were significant predictors of reduced parent-reported school HRQOL (F(2,65) = 5.46, P < .01) and accounted for 14% of the variance. Adding the social-ecological variables of parent education, child motivation, and parental knowledge accounted for an additional 25% of the variance in school HRQOL, where higher levels were associated with better child school HRQOL. Parenting knowledge was a contributor even after controlling for effects associated with the other variables in the model (F(1,62) = 4.88, P < .05). CONCLUSIONS Cancer survivorship care should incorporate parent education interventions to enhance the child's school functioning, particularly for Hispanic childhood cancer survivors from predominantly Spanish-speaking families. Future research should consider other at-risk groups and incorporate social-ecological indicators to predict HRQOL outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Rates of sleep disturbances vary widely across pediatric cancer studies, partly due to differences in measurement tools. Patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS) offers a rigorously developed, well-validated pair of pediatric sleep health instruments needed to advance sleep research and clinical practice in pediatric cancer. The current study evaluated the clinical validity of PROMIS pediatric sleep scales (sleep disturbances [SD] and sleep-related impairment [SRI]) among children in active cancer treatment. PROCEDURE Caregiver-patient dyads were enrolled during cancer treatment in 2-12 months after diagnosis: 45 children (ages 8-17 years) and 102 caregivers of children (ages 5-17 years) completed PROMIS SD and SRI 8-item short form self-report or caregiver-proxy scales, and caregivers reported the prior week's cancer treatments and blood counts. RESULTS Both scales demonstrated strong internal consistency reliability across reporters. SD and SRI were higher than the PROMIS general population calibration sample for caregivers and patients. Oncology caregivers reported lower SD and SRI than sleep clinic caregivers, but oncology patients were similar to sleep clinic patients. Convergent validity was evidenced through moderate correlations between scales by reporter and both scales being significantly higher in patients taking medications for sleep. There were no significant differences in SD or SRI by diagnostic group, receiving radiation, or having low blood counts. CONCLUSION The PROMIS SD and SRI short forms are promising measures for pediatric oncology, demonstrating strong internal consistency reliability and multiple indications of clinical validity. Although groups did not differ based on treatment variables, results suggest the need for universal screening for sleep problems during pediatric cancer treatment.

Abstract
Purpose: Cancer-related fatigue is a burdensome late effect of cancer treatment. A pilot study showed the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in fatigued survivors of childhood cancer (CCS). The aim of this study is to investigate whether the six cognitive-behavioral factors that are addressed during CBT differ in CCS compared with patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and survivors of adult-onset cancer (ACS). Levels of self-esteem, optimism, and depressive symptoms, variables that are also related to fatigue, were also compared between groups. Methods: Retrospective analyses were performed on 34 CCS (ages 11-42 years), 102 patients with CFS, and 95 ACS who were referred for evaluation of severe fatigue. Fatigue severity, possible cognitive-behavioral fatigue maintaining factors, depressive symptoms, self-esteem, and optimism were assessed using questionnaires and actigraphy. Results: No significant differences were found in the factors coping with the experience of having had cancer, fear of cancer recurrence, physical activity, and in levels of self-esteem and optimism. CCS attributed their fatigue significantly more often to psychosocial causes and reported fewer problems in sleep/rest compared with patients with CFS. Compared with ACS, CCS reported significantly more social support, more problems in sleep/rest, and more depressive symptoms. Conclusions: There is substantial overlap in cognitive-behavioral factors that can maintain fatigue between CCS and CFS patients or ACS. Also differences were found regarding attribution of fatigue, the sleep/rest pattern, social support, and depressive symptoms that might have clinical implications when CBT for fatigue is provided to CCS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer is the leading cause of death among Hispanics/Latinos. Thus, understanding health-related quality of life (HRQOL) needs among this diverse racial/ethnic group is critical. Using Ferrell's multidimensional framework for measuring QOL, we synthesized evidence on HRQOL needs among Hispanic/Latino cancer survivors. METHODS We searched MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, and PsycINFO, for English language articles published between 1995 and January 2020, reporting HRQOL among Hispanic/Latino cancer survivors in the USA. RESULTS Of the 648 articles reviewed, 176 met inclusion criteria, with 100 of these studies focusing exclusively on breast cancer patients and no studies examining end-of-life HRQOL issues. Compared with other racial/ethnic groups, Hispanics/Latinos reported lower HRQOL and a higher symptom burden across multiple HRQOL domains. Over 80% of studies examining racial/ethnic differences in psychological well-being (n = 45) reported worse outcomes among Hispanics/Latinos compared with other racial/ethnic groups. Hispanic/Latino cancer survivors were also more likely to report suboptimal physical well-being in 60% of studies assessing racial/ethnic differences (n = 27), and Hispanics/Latinos also reported lower social well-being relative to non-Hispanics/Latinos in 78% of studies reporting these outcomes (n = 32). In contrast, reports of spiritual well-being and spirituality-based coping were higher among Hispanics/Latinos cancer survivors in 50% of studies examining racial/ethnic differences (n = 15). DISCUSSION Findings from this review point to the need for more systematic and tailored interventions to address HRQOL needs among this growing cancer survivor population. Future HRQOL research on Hispanics/Latinos should evaluate variations in HRQOL needs across cancer types and Hispanic/Latino subgroups and assess HRQOL needs during metastatic and end-of-life disease phases.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Content elucidation for patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in paediatric cancer survivorship is understudied. We aimed to compare differences in the contents of five PRO domains that are important to paediatric cancer survivorship through semistructured interviews with paediatric cancer survivors and caregivers, and identified new concepts that were not covered in the item banks of the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS). DESIGN Semistructured interviews to collect qualitative PRO data from survivors and caregivers. SETTING A survivorship care clinic of a comprehensive cancer centre in the USA. PARTICIPANTS The study included 51 survivors (<18 years old) and 35 caregivers who completed interviews between August and December 2016. Content experts coded the transcribed interviews into 'meaningful concepts' per PROMIS item concepts and identified new concepts per a consensus. Frequencies of meaningful concepts used by survivors and caregivers were compared by Wilcoxon rank-sum test. RESULTS For pain and meaning and purpose, 'Hurt a lot' and 'Purpose in life' were top concepts for survivors and caregivers, respectively. For fatigue and psychological stress, 'Needed to sleep during the day'/'Trouble doing schoolwork' and 'Felt worried' were top concepts for survivors, and 'Felt tired' and 'Felt distress'/'Felt stressed' for caregivers. Survivors reported more physically relevant contents (eg, 'Hard to do sport/exercise'; 0.78 vs 0.23, p=0.007) for pain, fatigue and stress, whereas caregivers used more emotionally relevant concepts (eg, 'Too tired to enjoy things I like to do'; 0.31 vs 0.05, p=0.025). Both groups reported positive thoughts for meaning and purpose (eg, 'Have goals for myself'). One (psychological stress, meaning and purpose) to eleven (fatigue) new concepts were generated. CONCLUSIONS Important PRO contents in the form of meaningful concepts raised by survivors and caregivers were different and new concepts emerged. PRO measures are warranted to include survivorship-specific items by accounting for the child's and the caregiver's viewpoints.

Abstract
Pediatric patients with hematology and oncology conditions often experience disease- and treatment-related neurocognitive deficits. Well-validated screening tools are critical for identifying patients experiencing cognitive impairments. The Pediatric Applied Cognition scale (PAC) Short Form, developed by the National Institutes of Health, assesses attention and memory concerns. The current study is the first to examine the psychometrics of the PAC in pediatric patients with hematology/oncology conditions. Pediatric patients (n = 222) and caregivers completed the PAC and self-report measures of psychosocial and academic functioning. Results revealed strong internal consistency for the Child (α = 0.81-0.89) and Parent (α = 0.92-0.95) PAC. More cognitive concerns on the Child/Parent PAC were associated with greater psychosocial concerns (e.g. anxiety, depression, and fatigue) and lower reported school grades. The Parent PAC incrementally predicted child reported symptoms of depression, mobility concerns, and school grades beyond the Child PAC. Overall, the PAC Short Form may be useful as an indicator of general academic and psychosocial concerns. Further research validating the PAC in relation to performance-based neurocognitive outcomes and academic achievement is needed in children treated for hematology/oncology conditions.

Abstract
Background Cognitive fatigue after childhood cancer is frequently overlooked despite guidelines recommending follow-up, and might be mistaken for depression due to overlapping symptoms. Our objectives were: 1) to examine ratings of fatigue in survivors of paediatric brain tumours (BT) and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) compared to healthy controls, 2) to examine the relationship between symptoms of depression and cognitive fatigue, and 3) to evaluate parent-child concordance in ratings of cognitive fatigue. Methods Survivors of BT (n = 30), survivors of ALL (n = 30), and healthy controls (n = 60) aged 8–18 years completed the Pediatric Quality of Life Multidimensional Fatigue Scale and the Beck Youth Inventories. Associations between cognitive fatigue, diagnosis and depression were assessed with general linear modelling. Group differences were analysed using the Kruskal–Wallis test. Parent-child concordance was investigated with internal consistency reliability. Results Cognitive fatigue was prevalent in 70% of survivors of BT survivors and in 30% of survivors of ALL. Diagnosis was the main predictor of cognitive fatigue (p < .001, ηp2 = 0.178), followed by depression (p = .010, ηp2 = 0.080). Survivors of BT reported significantly more fatigue than healthy controls on all fatigue subscales. While they also expressed more symptoms of depression, we found no evidence for an interaction effect. Parent-child concordance was moderate to good among survivors, but poor for controls. Conclusions Survivors of BT and ALL suffer from cognitive fatigue, with survivors of BT expressing more problems. Cognitive fatigue and depression should be assessed in survivors of childhood cancer using both self-rated and proxy-rated measures, and appropriate interventions offered.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Treatment strategies for childhood cancer are improving, resulting in higher survival rates. However, the consequences of childhood cancer do not end with the successful completion of cancer treatment. Most patients will develop late effects after cessation of treatment. Severe fatigue is seen as a common and debilitating late effect in cancer survivors. Although most research on fatigue has been performed in patients after adult-onset cancer, our review focuses on fatigue after childhood cancer. OBJECTIVES To estimate the prevalence of severe fatigue after treatment for childhood cancer. Secondary objectives are to describe the course of severe fatigue following cancer treatment and to examine risk factors for fatigue, or factors associated with it. SEARCH METHODS We searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (the Cochrane Library 2019; issue 8 March 2019), MEDLINE/PubMed (from 1945 to 8 March 2019), Embase/Ovid (from 1947 to 8 March 2019), reference lists of included articles and several conference proceedings from 2011 to 2018. SELECTION CRITERIA Observational studies, randomised controlled trials and controlled clinical trials reporting on fatigue in participants after treatment for childhood cancer. Case series and case reports were not eligible for inclusion. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Two review authors independently extracted data and assessed risks of bias. If the publication did not present the prevalence of severe fatigue, we contacted study authors for additional information. MAIN RESULTS We included 30 studies (18,682 participants in total). Eighteen studies contributed to the main objective and 22 studies contributed to the secondary objectives. We found substantial differences between studies in cancer diagnosis, cancer treatment, age of participants, questionnaires used to assess fatigue, and sample size. All included studies scored at least one 'Risk of bias' item as unclear or high risk. We identified both clinical and statistical heterogeneity and therefore could not pool results, so we present them descriptively. Eighteen studies (describing 14,573 survivors) reported the prevalence of severe fatigue, which ranged from 0% to 61.7%. In a subgroup of three studies including children aged up to 18 years at fatigue assessment (268 survivors), prevalence rates ranged from 6.7% to 12.5%. In comparison, in a subgroup of 12 studies including participants aged 16 and over (13,952 survivors), prevalence rates ranged from 4.4% to 61.7%. The prevalence of severe fatigue in a subgroup of survivors of haematological cancer was presented in seven studies and ranged from 1.8% to 35.9% (1907 survivors). Prevalence of severe fatigue in brain cancer survivors was presented in two studies (252 survivors) and was 14.6% and 21.1% respectively. One study presented a prevalence for bone cancer survivors of 0.0% (17 survivors). Four studies provided prevalence rates of severe fatigue in control groups of siblings or population-based controls, which ranged from 3.1% to 10.3%. In these four studies, survivors were more often fatigued than controls, but this difference was statistically significant in only two studies. Studies assessing risk and associated factors for fatigue were heterogeneous, and definitions of the factors under study were often inconsistent, with results therefore presented descriptively. They found that depression might be associated with fatigue. In contrast, age at diagnosis and education level did not seem to be associated with fatigue. We were unable to calculate any overall risk estimate for any of the reported risks and associated factors, because we could not conduct meta-analysis. One study provided information about the course of fatigue over time, and found that over the course of 2.7 years, 32 of the 102 participants (31.4%) reported persistent severe fatigue. AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS It is unclear how many childhood cancer survivors suffer from severe fatigue. This review encountered several difficulties. We found statistical and clinical heterogeneity and great variation in the reporting of possible risk and associated factors. The evidence in this review is therefore weak, and the exact prevalence of severe fatigue after treatment for childhood cancer remains to be determined. This is also the case for the course of severe fatigue following treatment and the strength of the relationship between fatigue and associated and risk factors. Despite these limitations, our review does provide a comprehensive overview of the existing literature about severe fatigue after treatment for childhood cancer.

Abstract
Background Successful cancer treatment can lead to cancer survivors being predisposed to an increased lifelong risk of adverse late health effects. Therefore, high-quality cancer survivorship care to earlier detect and treat late effects or to preserve survivor’s health is essential. Nevertheless, this care needs to be sustainable and cost-effective as well. We developed three different screen-to-screen nurse-led eHealth interventions for survivors of childhood, adolescent and young adult-onset cancer, collectively called the REVIVER interventions. Elaborating on person-centred care principles with content based on cognitive behavioural therapy modules and/or motivational interviewing techniques, these interventions aim to empower and coach survivors to improve (1) symptoms of cancer-related fatigue, (2) self-efficacy and self-management or (3) lifestyle. With the REVIVER study, we aim to evaluate the interventions’ feasibility and gain insights into the potential effectiveness. Methods The REVIVER study involves a mixed methods design, including (1) interviews till data saturation with cancer survivors who completed the interventions as well as with all involved medical professionals, (2) reviews of nurses reports and (3) a single-group, pre-post evaluation among cancer survivors. Eligible survivors are survivors of childhood, adolescent and young adult-onset cancer who are referred to one of the interventions, in complete remission of cancer, 16–44 years old at enrolment, completed treatment at least 5 years ago and have access to a device with Internet options. We will assess feasibility in terms of demand, adherence, acceptability, practicality and integration/implementation. Health-related quality of life, as primary outcome of the potential effectiveness evaluation, will be assessed at three different time points: prior to the intervention; immediately following the intervention and 6 months post-intervention. Secondary outcome measures include changes in level of fatigue, self-efficacy, self-management and lifestyle. Discussion This is the first study to evaluate the feasibility and potential effectiveness of eHealth nurse-led interventions elaborating on person-centred care, using cognitive behavioural therapy and/or motivational interviewing techniques as an innovative and promising approach for providing CAYA cancer survivorship care. If the interventions prove to be feasible and potential effective, a randomized controlled trial will be conducted to test the (cost)-effectiveness.

Abstract
The identification of cancer-related fatigue as a clinical problem in pediatric oncology is an important phenomenon, and there are limited number of studies about raising the awareness of pediatric oncology patients and their parents. Fatigue-related education for patients and their parents before and during cancer treatment reduces the fatigue levels of patients. This study aims to analyze the effect of fatigue-related education for pediatric oncology patients aged 7-12 and their parents on their fatigue and quality of life. This study was conducted with 80 children with cancer and their parents who were assigned to either the control group (n = 40) or the experimental group (n = 40). The experimental group received a fatigue-related educational program. The data were collected three times: prior to the program, 3 months later, and 6 months afterwards. Multidimensional variance analysis, the Bonferroni adjusted t test and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. A significant difference was found among the experimental and the control group for total mean scores and the mean scores of subdimensions of the Scale for the Assessment of Fatigue-Child Form in terms of the interactions of group, time, and group*time (p < 0.05). Significant differences were found among the experimental and control groups' mean scores on the Scale for the Quality of Life-Child and Parents Form in terms of the interactions of group, time, and group*time (p < 0.05). Fatigue-related education is an effective education model as a way to reduce fatigue and increase the quality of life of children with cancer. The use of fatigue-related education by nurses in pediatric oncology clinics will have positive effects on children and their parents.

Abstract
Background When a child undergoes hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), the impact extends to the entire family, including siblings. Assessment of the quality of life (QoL) of siblings is challenged by their general lack of availability for regular assessment by clinical providers. Thus, the use of parent proxy reporting may be useful. Our aim was to describe the QoL of siblings of HCT survivors, as reported by their parents, as well as to identify parent and family factors associated with lower sibling QoL. Methods A cross-sectional study was utilized to assess parent-reported QoL of the HCT recipient’s sibling (Short Form (SF)-10 Health Survey for Children and the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC)-17). Parent QoL was assessed using the SF-12. Multivariable linear regression was used to explore hypothesized predictors of sibling QoL, including parent QoL, family impact/function (Impact on Family Scale, Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scales, IV, and a question asking about financial problems) while adjusting for demographic and HCT characteristics. Results Ninety-seven siblings (55% males) with a mean age of 12 years (standard deviation [SD] 4 years) were assessed, representing HCT survivors, who were an average of 5 years (SD 4 years) post-HCT. Neither sibling psychosocial (mean 49.84, SD 10.70, p = 0.87) nor physical health scores (mean 51.54, SD 8.42, p = 0.08) differed from norms. Parent proxies reported behavioral/emotional problems (PSC-17 total score > 15) in 24% of siblings. While parental ratings of their own physical health (SF-12 were higher than norms (mean 53.04, SD 8.17, p = 0.0005), mental health scores were lower (mean 45.48, SD 10.45, p < 0.0001). In multivariable analysis, lower parent emotional functioning and adverse family function were associated with lower sibling QoL, as reported by parents. Conclusions While proxy-reported QoL of siblings did not differ significantly from normative data, both parent QoL and family function were associated with sibling QoL. Future research is needed to understand how siblings themselves perceive their QoL following HCT.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Survivors of pediatric brain tumor are at risk for adaptive difficulties. The present study examined adaptive functioning in a multiethnic sample of survivors accounting for socioeconomic status, and whether demographic, diagnostic, and/or treatment-related variables predict adaptive outcomes. METHOD Participants included a multiethnic sample of survivors (58 Caucasian, 34 Hispanic, and 22 other non-Caucasian; M age = 14.05 years, SD = 4.33) who were approximately seven years post-treatment. Parents rated adaptive functioning and provided demographic information. Diagnostic and treatment-related information was abstracted from the electronic medical record. RESULTS Parent ratings of adaptive functioning were similar across Caucasian, Hispanic, and other non-Caucasian survivors covarying for family income and primary caregiver education, both of which served as proxies for socioeconomic status. All ethnic groups were rated lower than the normative mean in overall adaptive functioning as well as the specific domains of conceptual, social, and practical skills. Demographic, diagnostic, and treatment-related variables were differentially associated with adaptive functioning in survivors of pediatric brain tumor, though socioeconomic status emerged as a strong significant predictor of adaptive functioning domains. CONCLUSIONS Adaptive outcomes do not differ as a function of ethnicity after accounting for primary caregiver education and family income. Racial and ethnic minorities may be at increased risk for poorer outcomes given their overrepresentation at lower income levels. Assessing demographic and treatment-related variables early on may be helpful in identifying children likely to develop adaptive difficulties.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Fatigue is a common and disabling late effect in childhood cancer survivors (CCS). In this pilot study, the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) in CCS with persistent and severe fatigue was retrospectively evaluated. MATERIALS AND METHODS In total, 33 consecutively referred CCS with persistent severe fatigue were offered CBT. The primary outcome was fatigue severity (Checklist Individual Strength, Fatigue Severity Subscale). Secondary outcomes were functional impairment, psychologic distress, and quality of life (QoL). RESULTS In total, 25 CCS completed CBT (76%). The mean age of CCS was 23.1 years (range, 11 to 42 y), mean age at primary cancer diagnosis was 9.7 years (range, 0 to 17 y), and mean time since primary cancer diagnosis was 13 years (range, 5 to 34 y). Fatigue severity ([INCREMENT] 17.4; confidence interval (CI)=12.7-22.1; P<0.001), functional impairment (SIP8 [INCREMENT] 470.3; CI=312.3-628.4; P<0.001/SF36 [INCREMENT] 11.7; CI=17.2-6.3; P<0.001), and psychologic distress ([INCREMENT] 26.4; CI=15.6-34.9; P<0.001) were significantly decreased at second assessment. QoL ([INCREMENT] 13.5; CI=22.0-4.3; P=0.005) was significantly improved. A total of 23 CCS of the 33 CCS (70%) met the criteria for clinically significant improvement of fatigue. CONCLUSIONS In this pilot study, the majority of severely fatigued CCS showed a clinically significant reduction in fatigue following CBT. Moreover, daily function and QoL improved, and psychologic distress decreased.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma (HNRMS) survivors are at risk to develop adverse events (AEs). The impact of these AEs on psychosocial well-being is unclear. We aimed to assess psychosocial well-being of HNRMS survivors and examine whether psychosocial outcomes were associated with burden of therapy. PROCEDURE Sixty-five HNRMS survivors (median follow-up: 11.5 years), treated in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom between 1990 and 2010 and alive ≥2 years after treatment visited the outpatient multidisciplinary follow-up clinic once, in which AEs were scored based on a predefined list according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events. Survivors were asked to complete questionnaires on health-related quality of life (HRQoL; PedsQL and YQOL-FD), self-perception (KIDSCREEN), and satisfaction with appearances (SWA). HRQoL and self-perception scores were compared with reference values, and the correlation between physician-assessed AEs and psychosocial well-being was assessed. RESULTS HNRMS survivors showed significantly lower scores on PedsQL school/work domain (P ≤ 0.01, P = 0.02, respectively), YQOL-FD domains negative self-image and positive consequences (P ≤ 0.01, P = 0.04, respectively) compared with norm data; scores on negative consequences domain were significantly higher (P = 0.03). Over 50% of survivors negatively rated their appearances on three or more items. Burden of AEs was not associated with generic HRQoL and self-perception scores, but was associated with disease-specific QoL (YQOL-FD). CONCLUSION In general, HRQoL in HNRMS survivors was comparable to reference groups; however, survivors did report disease-specific consequences. We therefore recommend including specific questionnaires related to difficulties with facial appearance in a systematic monitoring program to determine the necessity for tailored care.
