Abstract
To describe the need and effectiveness of acute and preventive medications in a series of 100 consecutive patients referred due to COVID-19-related headaches. Patients were aged 48.0 (standard deviation (SD): 12.4), 84% were female, and 56% had a prior history of headache. The most common headache phenotype was holocranial (63%), frontal (48%), pressing (75%), of moderate intensity (7 out of 10), and accompanied by photophobia (58%). Acute medication was required by 93%, with paracetamol (46%) being the most frequently used drug, followed by ibuprofen (44%). The drugs with the highest proportion of a 2 h pain-freedom response were dexketoprofen (58.8%), triptans (57.7%), and ibuprofen (54.3%). Preventive treatment was required by 75% of patients. The most frequently used drugs were amitriptyline (66%), anesthetic blockades (18%), and onabotulinumtoxinA (11%). The drugs with the highest 50% responder rate were amitriptyline (45.5%), mirtazapine (50%), and anesthetic blockades (38.9%). The highest 75% responder rate was experienced following onabotulinumtoxinA (18.2%). In conclusion, most patients required acute medication, with triptans and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs achieving the best responses. Three-quarters of patients required preventive medication. The most frequently used drug was amitriptyline, which obtained the best results. In some treatment-resistant patients, anesthetic blockades and onabotulinumtoxinA were also beneficial.

Abstract
Background and objectives Post-acute COVID-19 syndrome or "long COVID" affects patients even after the recovery from Covid infection in various ways. Persistent headache or New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH) is one of such symptoms. In this review, we will discuss about the case-reports of post covid-19 headache- NDPH phenotype both after and in the course of COVID-19 infection. Methods Case reports/studies talked about patients having NDPH around the disease either immediately or late post COVID were included. Data was taken from the source and synthesised on a qualitative basis. Results Literature search showed 3,538 articles, out of which 12 were screened as per the eligibility criteria and finally, 4 case reports on NDPH and Covid-19 were chosen for analysis from the database and by human search. All case reports justify the criteria for acceptability in quality for this systematic review. Conclusion NDPH in and around Covid 19 infection is something that is currently an ingenious debated topic in the scientific community. More case studies should be written and published on the same subject so that a large systematic review could be conducted. Abstract
OBJECTIVE This article describes the clinical features, etiology, differential diagnosis, management, and prognosis of new daily persistent headache. LATEST DEVELOPMENTS New daily persistent headache has attracted renewed attention as it may arise in the setting of a COVID-19 infection. Spontaneous intracranial hypotension, particularly from CSF-venous fistulas, remains an important secondary headache disorder to consider before diagnosing new daily persistent headache. Symptomatic treatment for new daily persistent headache may include acute and preventive therapies used for migraine and tension-type headache, such as triptans, oral preventive agents, onabotulinumtoxinA, and agents that target calcitonin gene-related peptide. ESSENTIAL POINTS New daily persistent headache is a daily headache syndrome that starts acutely and can only be diagnosed after 3 months have elapsed and other secondary and primary headache diagnoses have been excluded. The clinical manifestations largely resemble either chronic migraine or chronic tension-type headache. The underlying cause is unknown, but it is plausible that multiple etiologies exist and that it is not a single disease entity. The prognosis is variable but often poor, and the treatment approach is largely extrapolated from the management of chronic migraine and chronic tension-type headache.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Headache is one of the most frequent symptoms of the acute and post-acute phase of COVID-19. Specific epidemiology, clinical features, risk factors, pathophysiology, and treatment have been reported in these two scenarios. With this narrative review of the literature, we aim to provide updated knowledge on headache in the COVID-19 setting and give clinicians a practical approach on this topic to guide them in their clinical practice. RECENT FINDINGS Headache mechanisms in COVID-19 are still poorly understood. Strong evidence is also lacking on how to best treat and manage these patients, especially those with persistent and disabling headache after COVID-19. Data are also scarce on the characteristics of headache in COVID-19 caused by the new SARS-CoV-2 (Omicron) variants and how these may influence the acute and persistent symptoms of COVID-19. Patients with pre-existing primary headache disorders remain a particularly concerning population due to their biological predisposition in suffering from headaches and the potential risk of worsening in the setting of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although there is an exponential growth of scientific evidence, studies are often controversial and focused on the first wave of the pandemic, making COVID-19 headache still a challenging matter for clinicians. New research is therefore needed.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The current article aims to provide an overview of new daily persistent headache (NDPH), with a particular emphasis on its pathophysiology, evaluation, and current treatment options. RECENT FINDINGS NDPH is an uncommon and heterogeneous condition associated with various comorbidities and is of great significance due to its prolonged duration and high severity. Variable causes and clinical aspects of NDPH may reflect differences in its underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, including genetics, environmental triggers, neuroinflammation, and brain changes. When assessing a patient with NDPH, potential triggers, past medical history, and differential diagnosis should be carefully considered. Non-pharmacological interventions aimed to improve diet, sleep patterns, and reduce consumption of caffeine and alcohol are recommended for all patients. Nerve blockade and nerve stimulation seem to be more efficacious in children than adults. Antiviral medications and neuroinflammation-targeting treatments may be helpful, particularly, when an infectious disease or severe inflammation is suspected. NDPH patients with concurrent affective disorders may benefit from treatment with serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, or benzodiazepines. Cerebrospinal-fluid-lowering medications may be useful for headaches started with a thunderclap or a Valsalva maneuver. Possible treatments for refractory NDPH include intravenous ketamine or lidocaine, onabotulinumtoxinA, and calcitonin gene-related peptide antibodies. Considering the variety of NDPH, it is critical to properly screen patients for correct diagnosis. Proper identification of potential mimics may enable precise therapy opportunities, yet there is no gold standard treatment for NDPH. Further well-designed studies are needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and develop effective treatment strategies for NDPH.

Abstract
An extensive computer search (from January 2020 to January 2023) was conducted including literature from the PubMed, Scopus, MEDLINE, Web of Science, and EMBASE databases. According to preset criteria, a total of 58 articles were included in this review article. Generally, any patient who becomes infected with COVID-19 can develop post-COVID-19 conditions. The course of COVID-19 is divided into three main stages: acute COVID-19 (up to 4 weeks), post-acute COVID-19 (from 4 to 12 weeks), and post-COVID (from 12 weeks to 6 months). If a more protracted course of COVID (over 6 months) is demonstrated, the term "long-COVID" is used. Although the acute stage of COVID-19 infection most commonly manifests with acute respiratory symptoms, one very common symptom of the disease is pain, while the most common symptoms of post-COVID syndrome are shortness of breath, dry cough, fatigue, loss of olfactory and gustatory function, tightness and chest pain, sleep and mood disturbances, body aches, muscle and joint pain, sore throat, fever, and persistent headaches. All observations demonstrated a high incidence of chronic pain syndromes of various localization in the post- and long-COVID period. Post-COVID chronic pain might include a newly developed chronic pain as a part of post-viral syndrome; worsening of preexisting chronic pain due to the associated changes in the medical services, or a de novo chronic pain in healthy individuals who are not infected with COVID. Chronic pain during and post-COVID-19 pandemic is an important health issue due to the significant impacts of pain on the patients, health care systems, and society as well. Therefore, it is important that patients with chronic pain receive effective treatment according to their specific needs. Accordingly, the main goal of this review article is to provide a broad description about the post-COVID pain and to explore the impact of long COVID-19 on chronic pain patients, and also to give brief reports about the prevalence, risk factors, possible mechanisms, different presentations, and the management tools through a systematic approach.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the characteristics of patients with new-onset headache following SARS-CoV-2 infection. BACKGROUND SARS-CoV-2 infection leads to several neurological manifestations, and headache is a frequent and disabling symptom, both exacerbating pre-existing headache syndromes and causing new-onset ones. METHODS Patients with new-onset headache after SARS-CoV-2 infection with consent to participate were included, while those ones with previous headaches were excluded. The temporal latency of headache after infection, pain characteristics, and concomitant symptoms were analysed. Moreover, the efficacy of acute and preventive medications was explored. RESULTS Eleven females (median age 37.0 [10.0-60.0] years old) were included. In most cases, headache onset occurred with the infection, the location of pain varied, and the quality was either pulsating or tightening. Headache was persistent and daily in 8 patients (72.7%), while it occurred in episodes in the remaining subjects. Baseline diagnoses were new daily persistent headache (36.4%), probable new daily persistent headache (36.4%), probable migraine (9.1%), and migraine-like headache secondary to COVID-19 (18.2%). Ten patients received one or more preventive treatments and six of them showed an improvement. CONCLUSION New-onset headache following COVID-19 is a heterogenous condition with uncertain pathogenesis. This type of headache can become persistent and severe, with a wide spectrum of manifestations (new daily persistent headache being the most represented one) and variable response to treatment.

Abstract
Background Accumulating evidence suggests various specific triggers may lead to new daily persistent headache (NDPH)-like presentations, suggesting that new daily persistent headache is a heterogenous syndrome, and challenging the concept that new daily persistent headache is a primary headache disorder.Method We searched the PubMed database up to August 2022 for keywords including persistent daily headache with both primary and secondary etiologies. We summarized the literature and provided a narrative review of the clinical presentation, diagnostic work-ups, possible pathophysiology, treatment response, and clinical outcomes.Results and conclusion New daily persistent headache is a controversial but clinically important topic. New daily persistent headache is likely not a single entity but a syndrome with different etiologies. The issue with past studies of new daily persistent headache is that patients with different etiologies/subtypes were pooled together. Different studies may investigate distinct subsets of patients, which renders the inter-study comparison, both positive and negative results, difficult. The identification (and removal) of a specific trigger might provide the opportunity for clinical improvement in certain patients, even when the disease has lasted for months or years. Nonetheless, if there is a specific trigger, it remains unknown or unidentified for a great proportion of the patients. We need to continue to study this unique headache population to better understand underlying pathogenesis and, most importantly, to establish effective treatment strategies that hopefully resolve the continuous cycle of pain.

Abstract
Headache is among the most frequent symptoms persisting or newly developing after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as part of the so-called long COVID syndrome. The knowledge on long COVID headache is still limited, however growing evidence is defining the features of this novel condition, in particular regarding clinical characteristics, some pathophysiological mechanisms and first treatment recommendations. Long COVID headache can present in the form of worsening of a preexisting primary headache, or, more specifically, in the form of a new (intermittent or daily) headache starting during the acute infection or after a delay. It often presents together with other long COVID symptoms, most frequently with hyposmia. It can manifest with a migrainous or, more frequently, with a tension-type-like phenotype. Persistent activation of the immune system and trigeminovascular activation are thought to play a role. As there are virtually no treatment studies, treatment currently is largely guided by the existing guidelines for primary headaches with the corresponding phenotype. The present report, a collaborative work of the international group of the Junior Editorial Board of The Journal of Headache and Pain aims to summarize the most recent evidence about long COVID headache and suggests approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of this disorder.

Abstract
Recently dubbed Long COVID or Long-Haul COVID, those recovering from the initial COVID-19 infection may maintain clinical signs for longer than two or more weeks following the initial onset of the infection. The virus can gain entry into the CNS through axonal transport mediated through the olfactory nerve or hematogenous spread and can also cross the blood–brain barrier to access the temporal lobe and the brainstem. The neurologic and neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with COVID-19 patients are becoming a highly studied area due to the increased frequency of reported cases. Multiple hospital case series and observational studies have found a headache to be a common symptom among patients who are symptomatic with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The headache described by many of these patients is similar to new daily persistent headache (NDPH). NDPH potentially develops in response to pro-inflammatory cytokines during a persistent systemic or CNS inflammation, mostly due to the initial infection. The treatments investigated were high-dose steroids, tetracycline derivatives, onabotulinum toxin type A, and long-term multidrug regimens. Among the identified symptoms of post-COVID-19 viral illness, fatigue appears to be the most ubiquitous. High-dose vitamin C is currently a suggested therapy proposed for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties. The mental health consequences of this diagnosis are being identified among large portions of COVID-19 survivors. Among these consequences, cases of major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety are being reported and closely examined. The aim of this narrative review is to highlight the neurological and psychiatric symptoms that have been associated with Long-Haul COVID and their possible treatments.

Abstract
Background The 2019 Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is a novel respiratory virus which causes Coronavirus Disease19 (COVID-19). Although the predominant clinical picture of COVID-19 is represented by respiratory symptoms, neurological manifestations are being increasingly recognized. Headache, in particular migraine-like and tension types, has been largely reported in patients suffering from COVID-19 both in the acute and the healing phase of the infection. New daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a primary headache characterized by persistent and daily painful symptoms, with pain becoming continuous and non-remitting within 24 h, and lasting more than 3 months. Even though an increasing number of reports describe patients who develop a persistent headache, diagnosis of NPDH has been rarely explored in the context of COVID-19. Methods Two patients with persistent headache and Sars-CoV-2 infection were identified. Both underwent a full clinical and neuroradiological evaluation. Blood sample with inflammatory biomarkers search was also performed. Results According to International Classifications of Headache Disorders diagnosis of probable new daily persistent headache was made. The treatment with high doses of steroids was associated with relief of symptoms. Conclusions Our report described two cases of probable NDPH due to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Clinical evaluation of COVID-19 patients presenting with persistent headache should take into consideration NDPH. Given the supposed major role for neuroinflammation in the genesis of Sars-CoV-2-driven NDPH, immunomodulatory therapy should be promptly started. In line with this hypothesis, we obtained a good therapeutic response to short-term high dose of corticosteroids.

Abstract
Introduction. Our aim was to investigate the clinical features of primary new daily persistent headache (NDPH) in a cohort of paediatric patients. Methods. We reviewed the data of patients with persistent daily headache, attending the Headache Centre of Bambino Gesù Children from the January 2009. The ICHD-III criteria were used for diagnosis. Statistical analysis was conducted to study possible correlations between NDPH and population features (age and sex), NDPH and headache qualitative features, and NDPH and response to pharmacological therapies. Results. We included 46 subjects with NDPH. The features of pain more closely resembled those of migraine than to those of tension-type headache (62 vs. 38%). The NDPH patients showed nausea and vomiting less frequently than migraine ones (28.6 vs. 48.2%, p < 0.01). A total of 75% of NDPH patients experienced an onset of the symptoms in the winter months (November to February) (p < 0.01). NDPH was less common in very young children under 10 years of age. Almost 58% of NDPH patients received pharmacological therapy and the most used drug was amitriptyline. A reduction of attacks by at least 50% in a month was detected in 30.6% of patients. Conclusions. NDPH can be very disabling and correlates with seasonal factors. Although long term pharmacological therapy is recommended, considering the long duration that this headache can have, there are no data supporting the treatment choice.

Abstract
COVID-19 and Headaches Abstract. Headaches are a common symptom of COVID-19 infections. Patients generally describe them as bilateral, predominantly frontal, squeezing and of moderate or severe intensity. Searching for "Red Flags" often allows distinction from primary headaches - usually fever, cough, and elevated inflammatory markers accompany COVID-19-associated headaches. Prospective studies did not confirm caveats against the use of ibuprofen as symptomatic treatment. While carrying facial masks often caused headaches, probably by compressing sensory nerves, many patients' migraine frequencies dropped during lockdown. Treatment of patients with primary headaches was complicated by quarantine and many centres offered online consultations.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Dengue fever is currently a significant public health problem as an emerging pandemic-prone viral disease in many parts of the world. Up to 100 million individuals, distributed in over 100 countries, are estimated to be infected annually, putting nearly half of the world's population at risk. The headache associated with dengue fever is considered to be very intense, bilateral, throbbing, frontal, and retro-orbital. New daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a relatively rare headache entity. It has already been reported that systemic infectious disease may precede the onset of NDPH. We report the data of an epidemiologic study analyzing the cases of NDPH among 450 subjects who had dengue fever. METHOD The study was performed in a medium-size town in southeastern Brazil (Franca, population 370,000). During the year 2015, 600 cases of dengue fever were reported to the Franca Health Authority. All these patients were contacted by telephone, and 450 of the patients were located and interviewed. RESULTS Of these 450 interviews, three possible cases of NDPH were identified. CONCLUSION The observed prevalence of NDPH attributed to dengue fever was 1:150 cases of dengue fever (0.67%).

Abstract
New daily persistent headache (NDPH) is characterized by an abrupt onset of headache that becomes a daily entity, is unremitting and continuous from the onset, and lasts for more than 3 months. Dr Walter Vanast first described NDPH in the year 1986. Originally, it was proposed as a chronic daily headache but it was placed under "other primary headaches" in the International Classification of Headache Disorder Second Edition (ICHD 2nd edition). However, with evolving literature and better understanding of its clinical characteristics, it was classified as a "chronic daily headache" in the ICHD 3rd edition beta. There are still many knowledge-gaps regarding the underlying cause, pathophysiology, natural history and treatment of NDPH. This review tries to revisit the entity and discusses the current status of understanding regarding NDPH.

Abstract
BACKGROUND New daily persistent headache (NDPH) presents with a sudden onset headache which continues without remission within 24 h. Although rare, NDPH is important because it is one of the most treatment refractory primary headache disorders and can be highly disabling to the individuals. In this structured review, we describe the current knowledge of epidemiology, clinical features, trigger factors, pathophysiology, diagnosis and therapeutic options of NDPH to better understand this enigmatic disorder. The prevalence of NDPH estimated to be 0.03% to 0.1% in the general population and is higher in children and adolescents than in adults. Individuals with NDPH can pinpoint the exact date their headache started. The pain is constant and lacks special characteristics but in some has migraine features. The exact pathogenic mechanism of NDPH is unknown, however pro-inflammatory cytokines and cervicogenic problems might play a role in its development. The diagnosis of NDPH is mainly clinical and based on a typical history, but proper laboratory investigation is needed to exclude secondary causes of headache. Regarding treatment strategy, controlled drug trials are absent. It is probably best to treat NDPH based upon the predominant headache phenotype. For patients who do not respond to common prophylactic drugs, ketamine infusion, onabotulinum toxin type A, intravenous (IV) lidocaine, IV methylprednisolone and nerve blockade are possible treatment options, but even aggressive treatment is usually ineffective. CONCLUSION NDPH remains poorly understood but very burdensome for the individual. Multi-center randomized controlled trials are recommended to gain better understanding of NDPH and to establish evidence based treatments.

Abstract
New daily persistent headache is a continuous, unremitting headache, notorious
for its unresponsiveness to aggressive medical interventions. The underlying
pathophysiology of new daily persistent headache is poorly understood resulting
in unending, chronic pain. However, a prior study identified elevated tumor
necrosis factor alpha within the cerebral spinal fluid of new daily persistent
headache patients. Herein, we report on a patient who suffered with headache for
6 years failing to respond to over 20 different medical treatments, but found
drastic improvement and eventual resolution with Venlafaxine. This drug binds to
the 5-HT2A receptor inhibiting tumor necrosis factor alpha signaling.
Therefore, we hypothesize a chronic inflammatory mechanism driving new daily
persistent headache pathology.

Abstract
Background Hemicrania continua (HC), paroxysmal hemicrania (PH) and short lasting neuralgiform headache attacks (SUNCT and SUNA) are rare syndromes with a difficult therapeutic approach. The aim of this review is to summarize all articles dealing with treatments for HC, PH, SUNCT and SUNA, comparing them in terms of effectiveness and safety. Methods A survey was performed using the pubmed database for documents published from the 1st January 1989 onwards. All types of articles were considered, those ones dealing with symptomatic cases and non-English written ones were excluded. Results Indomethacin is the best treatment both for HC and PH. For the acute treatment of HC, piroxicam and celecoxib have shown good results, whilst for the prolonged treatment celecoxib, topiramate and gabapentin are good options besides indomethacin. For PH the best drug besides indomethacin is piroxicam, both for acute and prolonged treatment. For SUNCT and SUNA the most effective treatments are intravenous or subcutaneous lidocaine for the acute treatment of active phases and lamotrigine for the their prevention. Other effective therapeutic options are intravenous steroids for acute treatment and topiramate for prolonged treatment. Non-pharmacological techniques have shown good results in SUNCT and SUNA but, since they have been tried on a small number of patients, the reliability of their efficacy is poor and their safety profile mostly unknown. Conclusions Besides a great number of treatments tried, HC, PH, SUNCT and SUNA management remains difficult, according with their unknown pathogenesis and their rarity, which strongly limits the studies upon these conditions. Further studies are needed to better define the treatment of choice for these conditions. Abstract
New daily persistent headache is a primary headache disorder marked by a unique temporal profile which is daily from onset. For many sufferers this is their first ever headache. Very little is known about the pathogenesis of this condition. It might be a disorder of abnormal glial activation with persistent central nervous system inflammation and it may be a syndrome that occurs in individuals who have a history of cervical hypermobility. At present there is no known specific treatment and many patients go for years to decades without any improvement in their condition despite aggressive therapy. This article will present an up-to-date overview of new daily persistent headache on the topics of clinical presentation, treatment, diagnostic criteria, and presumed pathogenesis. It will also provide some of the authors own treatment suggestions based on recognized triggering events and some suggestions for future clinical trials.

Abstract
New daily persistent headache is a form of a chronic daily headache with a unique temporal profile. Patients can recall the exact day when their headache started. It can be one of the most refractory types of headache to treat. Recent publications have highlighted different subtypes and heterogeneity in presentation. Referring to it as a syndrome versus a distinct disorder has also been suggested. Several different classes of medications have been used for the treatment, with mixed results. The underlying pathophysiology of new daily persistent headache is unclear, but tumor necrosis factor may play a role. The clinical features, differential diagnosis and potential new therapeutic agents will be discussed.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW This article identifies the pertinent historical issues that lead to the identification of those headaches needing additional testing to exclude a serious underlying cause. RECENT FINDINGS Recurrences of giant cell arteritis, even after presumed successful treatment, are common. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome is an often unrecognized cause of headache. SUMMARY Patients with a primary headache disorder are more susceptible to the development of headache when a secondary cause occurs. Their headaches may be phenotypically similar to their primary headache disorder. Therefore, a secondary cause should be considered in patients with preexisting headache disorders who develop a significant increase in the number and severity of those attacks.

Abstract
New daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a chronic headache developing in a person who does not have a past history of headaches. The headache begins acutely and reaches its peak within 3 days. It is important to exclude secondary causes, particularly headaches due to alterations in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure and volume. A significant proportion of NDPH sufferers may have intractable headaches that are refractory to treatment. The condition is best viewed as a syndrome rather than a diagnosis. The headache can mimic chronic migraine and chronic tension-type headache, and it is also important to exclude secondary causes, particularly headaches due to alterations in CSF pressure and volume. A large proportion of NDPH sufferers have migrainous features to their headache and should be managed with treatments used for treating migraine. A small group of NDPH sufferers may have intractable headaches that are refractory to treatment.

Abstract
The aim of this retrospective study was to provide data on the clinical features and treatment outcomes of patients with NDPH (fulfilling Kung et al.'s criteria). A total of 63 patients were observed during a 5-yr period (2007-2012). More than one-third (35 %) patients had migrainous features; 65 % patients fulfilled the ICHD-II criteria. Both groups were similar in most clinical and epidemiological features. However, migrainous features were more common in patients with a prior history of episodic migraine (though statistically not significant). After a median follow-up of 9 months, 37 % patients showed "excellent" response (no or less than 1 headache per month). Another 30 % patients had "good" response (>50 % reduction in headache frequency or days per month). Excellent response was more in patients with a history of less than 6 months duration (statistically not significant). Patients with a recognized trigger showed better prognosis. Response was better in patients who received intravenous therapy of methyl prednisolone and sodium valproate. We suggest prospective and controlled studies to confirm our observations.

Abstract
Post-infectious disease syndrome includes both neurological and non-neurological disorders. However, headache as an isolated or a presenting complaint of post-infectious illness has not been well acknowledged in the literature. In this retrospective observation, patients having daily headache of more than 1 week and <4 weeks duration were included. We divided this group into patients having headache with preceding history of febrile illness in the recent past and patients without such history of febrile illness. We compared clinical features and therapeutic responses of various drugs between the groups. There were no significant differences in demographic features in these groups. However, associated neck pain, nausea, photophobia and meningeal signs were more prevalent in patients having history of preceding infection. A relatively lower proportion of subjects showed complete response to drugs at 3 months in post-infectious group. Good responses were noted to steroids in post-infectious group. In conclusion, a subset of patients with daily headache may be because of post-infectious pathology and treatment in the early stage may prevent it from becoming chronic. Large prospective studies are required to confirm these observations.

Abstract
New daily-persistent headache is a relatively uncommon type of chronic daily headache. The critical features of the original description and the subsequent Silberstein-Lipton description was the onset: daily headache starts abruptly without a background of frequent or worsening headache. In 2004, the International Headache Society classification committee excluded an abundance of migrainous features. The exclusion of patients with too many migrainous features from the International Headache Society classification was contentious from the onset and is a source of consternation for many headache experts. Many contend that the sudden onset of a daily headache raises the same issue of what turned on the headache, irrespective of the headache features. Switch-related questions about predisposing factors or precipitating events are equally valid regardless of how many migrainous features the patient has. The differential diagnosis, treatment response, or prognoses do not vary by the number of migrainous features. The current International Headache Society definition excludes more than half of patients with new onset of daily headache. This exclusion due to migrainous features could have adverse scientific, diagnostic, and treatment consequences.

Abstract
The neurobiology of chronic pain, including chronic daily headache (CDH) is not completely understood. “Pain memory” hypothesis is one of the mechanisms for phantom limb pain. We reviewed the literature to delineate a relation of “pain memory” for the development of CDH. There is a direct relation of pain to memory. Patients with poor memory have less chance to develop “pain memory”, hence less possibility to develop chronic pain. Progressive memory impairment may lead to decline in headache prevalence. A similar relation of pain is also noted with emotional or psychiatric symptoms. Literature review suggests that there is marked overlap in the neural network of pain to that of memory and emotions. We speculate that pain, memory, and emotions are interrelated in triangular pattern, and each of these three is related to other two in bidirectional pattern, i.e., stimulation of one of these will stimulate other symptoms/networks and vice versa (triangular theory for chronic pain). Longstanding or recurrent noxious stimuli will strengthen this interrelation, and this may be responsible for chronicity of pain. Reduction of both chronic pain and psychological symptoms by cognitive behavioral therapy or psychological interventions further suggests a bidirectional interrelation between pain and emotion. Longitudinal studies are warranted on the prevalence of headache and other painful conditions in patients with progressive memory impairment to delineate the relation of pain to memory. Interrelation of headache to emotional symptoms should also be explored.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Certain miscellaneous idiopathic headache disorders, which are regarded as entities, are grouped in Chapter 4 of the International Classification of Headache Disorders. Recent epidemiological research suggests that these headache disorders are underdiagnosed. OBJECTIVES To give expert recommendations for the different drug and non-drug treatment procedures of these different headache disorders based on a literature search and on consensus of an expert panel. METHODS All available medical reference systems were screened for all kinds of clinical studies on these headache disorders. The findings in these studies were evaluated according to the recommendations of the EFNS resulting in level A, B or C recommendations and good practice points. RECOMMENDATIONS For all headache disorders, acute and prophylactic drug treatment is recommended based on case series and on expert consensus. Furthermore, recommendations for the differential diagnoses are given because these headache disorders can also present with a symptomatic form. The most effective drug for the majority of these headache disorders is indomethacin, mostly applied as long-term or short-term prophylaxis.

Abstract
New daily-persistent headache (NDPH) and chronic tension-type headache (CTTH) are two forms of primary chronic daily headache of long duration that often are similar in their headache manifestations. NDPH distinguishes itself from CTTH and the other forms of chronic daily headache by its continuous head pain from onset. However, despite formalized criteria that specify NDPH must resemble the acute onset of a headache identical to that of CTTH, NDPH commonly has migraine features. Here, we review the available literature on NDPH and compare its clinical features, epidemiology, prognosis, inciting factors, and treatment to CTTH.

Abstract
Children and adolescents can develop frequent, at times daily, headaches. The more severe forms of headaches that these children experience are often migrainous. This article discusses the typical characteristics of these patients and reviews treatments considered in this condition. Unfortunately, there are no high-quality studies to definitively guide treatment in children with chronic daily headache. Treatment decisions are often made using data from adult studies, childhood studies on episodic migraine or expert opinion. Current data on which to base treatment decisions are reviewed in this article.
