Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aims of this study were to examine vaccine hesitancy for COVID-19 vaccinations, comparing immigrant and non-immigrant older adults (aged ≥60 years), after accounting for group-level and individual-level characteristics, and the interaction between immigrant and socio-economic status. STUDY DESIGN This study used a retrospective cohort design. METHODS Analyses were conducted using R version 4.3.2. Logistic regression models had the dependent variables of obtained any COVID-19 vaccinations vs not and obtained all four required COVID-19 vaccinations vs not. The linear regression model's dependent variable was the interval in days between the COVID-19 vaccination availability and the date of obtaining the first COVID-19 vaccination. RESULTS In the cohort of older adults (n = 35,109), immigrants were less likely than non-immigrants to obtain a single COVID-19 vaccination (P < 0.001) or the full series of required COVID-19 vaccinations (P < 0.001); however, immigrants vs non-immigrants delayed only in obtaining the first vaccination (P < 0.001) but not the remaining required COVID-19 vaccinations. In the linear regression model, a longer interval before obtaining the first COVID-19 vaccination was associated with immigrant status (P < 0.001), lower socio-economic status (SES; P < 0.001), and the interaction between immigrant status and low SES (P < 0.001), while a shorter interval was associated with preventive behaviours of obtaining seasonal influenza (P < 0.001) or pneumococcal (P < 0.001) vaccinations previously. CONCLUSIONS Immigrant status in general, and especially when combined with low SES, is a major risk factor for vaccination hesitancy. Reorienting immigrants to embrace preventive healthcare behaviours is key. Culturally appropriate communication campaigns may improve the dissemination of effective vaccination-related information to immigrant communities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hispanics are a heterogeneous population with differences in the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its related risk factors among ethnic sub-groups. This study evaluated the association of genetic admixture and CVD in self-identified Hispanic women from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). METHODS Data came from the WHI Observational Study and the Clinical Trial Components conducted among postmenopausal women. The CVD outcomes included coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke. The proportions of European (EUR), sub-Saharan African (AFR), and Amerindian (AMI) admixture were estimated using 92 ancestry-informative markers. Cox regression models were used to assess the relationship between genetic admixture and CVD adjusting for age, lifestyle risk factors, known risk factors, and neighborhood socioeconomic status. RESULTS Among 5195 participants EUR ancestry was associated with a lower CHD risk after adjusting for age (HR 0.41, p = 0.02), and in the fully adjusted model (HR 0.40, p = 0.03). AFR ancestry was associated with a higher CHD risk after adjusting for age (HR 2.91, p = 0.03), but it only showed a trend in in the fully adjusted model (HR 2.46, p = 0.10). AMI ancestry was not statistically significantly associated with CHD and none of the genetic admixture proportions were statistically significantly associated with stroke (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION EUR ancestry was associated with a lower risk of CHD in Hispanic women. This highlights the need to account for genetic admixture in future CVD studies to consider different heritage groups to understand the role that genetic, neighborhood socioeconomic status, and environmental factors contribute to CVD health disparities in Hispanic women.

Abstract
In recent decades, the number of African immigrants in high-income countries (HICs) has increased significantly. However, the cardiometabolic health of this population remains poorly examined. Thus, we conducted a systematic review to examine the prevalence of cardiometabolic risk factors among sub-Saharan African immigrants residing in HICs. Studies were identified through searches in electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane, Scopus, and Web of Science up to July 2021. Data on the prevalence of cardiometabolic risk factors were extracted and synthesized in a narrative format, and a meta-analysis of pooled proportions was also conducted. Of 8655 unique records, 35 articles that reported data on the specific African countries of origin of African immigrants were included in the review. We observed heterogeneity in the burden of cardiometabolic risk factors by African country of origin and HIC. The most prevalent risk factors were hypertension (27%, range: 6-55%), overweight/obesity (59%, range: 13-91%), and dyslipidemia (29%, range: 11-77.2%). The pooled prevalence of diabetes was 11% (range: 5-17%), and 7% (range: 0.7-14.8%) for smoking. Few studies examined kidney disease, hyperlipidemia, and diagnosed cardiometabolic disease. Policy changes and effective interventions are needed to improve the cardiometabolic health of African immigrants, improve care access and utilization, and advance health equity.

Abstract
Acculturation and immigration-related factors may impact preventive, routine cardiovascular risk (CV) screening among African immigrants. We examined the associations between length of stay, percent of life spent in the U.S. (proxy for acculturation), and CV screening. Outcomes were recent screening for hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to examine these relationships. Among 437 African immigrants, 60% were males, mean age was 47 years, 61% had lived in the U.S. for ≥10 years, mean length of stay was 15 years, and 81% were employed. Only 67% were insured. In the 12 months prior, 85% had screened for hypertension, 45% for diabetes, and 63% for dyslipidemia. African immigrants with a ≥10-year length of U.S. stay had 2.20 (95%Confidence Intervals: 1.31−3.67), and those with >25% years of life spent in the U.S. had 3.62 (95%CI: 1.96−6.68) higher odds of dyslipidemia screening compared to those with a <10-year length of stay and ≤25% years of life spent in the U.S., respectively. Overall, screening for CV risk higher in African immigrants who have lived longer (≥10 years) in the U.S. Recent African immigrants may experience challenges in accessing healthcare. Health policies targeting recent and uninsured African immigrants may improve access to CV screening services.
