Abstract
Adopting a nano- and micro-structuring approach to fully unleashing the genuine potential of electrode active material benefits in-depth understandings and research progress toward higher energy density electrochemical energy storage devices at all technology readiness levels. Due to various challenging issues, especially limited stability, nano- and micro-structured (NMS) electrodes undergo fast electrochemical performance degradation. The emerging NMS scaffold design is a pivotal aspect of many electrodes as it endows them with both robustness and electrochemical performance enhancement, even though it only occupies complementary and facilitating components for the main mechanism. However, extensive efforts are urgently needed toward optimizing the stereoscopic geometrical design of NMS scaffolds to minimize the volume ratio and maximize their functionality to fulfill the ever-increasing dependency and desire for energy power source supplies. This review will aim at highlighting these NMS scaffold design strategies, summarizing their corresponding strengths and challenges, and thereby outlining the potential solutions to resolve these challenges, design principles, and key perspectives for future research in this field. Therefore, this review will be one of the earliest reviews from this viewpoint.

Abstract
MXenes have shown great potential for micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) due to the high metallic conductivity, tunable interlayer spacing and intercalation pseudocapacitance. In particular, the negative surface charge and high hydrophilicity of MXenes make them suitable for various solution processing strategies. Nevertheless, a comprehensive review of solution processing of MXene MSCs has not been conducted. In this review, we present a comprehensive summary of the state-of-the-art of MXene MSCs in terms of ink rheology, microelectrode design and integrated system. The ink formulation and rheological behavior of MXenes for different solution processing strategies, which are essential for high quality printed/coated films, are presented. The effects of MXene and its compounds, 3D electrode structure, and asymmetric design on the electrochemical properties of MXene MSCs are discussed in detail. Equally important, we summarize the integrated system and intelligent applications of MXene MSCs and present the current challenges and prospects for the development of high-performance MXene MSCs.

Abstract
Supercapacitors, designed to store more energy and be proficient in accumulating more energy than conventional batteries with numerous charge-discharge cycles, have been developed in response to the growing demand for energy. Transition metal carbides/nitrides called MXenes have been the focus of researchers' cutting-edge research in energy storage. The 2D-layered MXenes are a hopeful contender for the electrode material due to their unique properties, such as high conductivity, hydrophilicity, tunable surface functional groups, better mechanical properties, and outstanding electrochemical performance. This newly developed pseudocapacitive substance benefits electrochemical energy storage because it is rich in interlayer ion diffusion pathways and ion storage sites. Making MXene involves etching the MAX phase precursor with suitable etchants, but different etching methods have distinct effects on the morphology and electrochemical properties. It is an overview of the recent progress of MXene and its structure, synthesis, and unique properties. There is a strong emphasis on the effects of shape, size, electrode design, electrolyte behavior, and other variables on the charge storage mechanism and electrochemical performance of MXene-based supercapacitors. The electrochemical application of MXene and the remarkable research achievements in MXene-based composites are an intense focus. Finally, in light of further research and potential applications, the challenges and future perspectives that MXenes face and the prospects that MXenes present have been highlighted.

NH 3-Induced In Situ Etching Strategy Derived 3D-Interconnected Porous MXene/Carbon Dots Films for High Performance Flexible Supercapacitors. NANO-MICRO LETTERS 2023; 15:231. Abstract
2D MXene (Ti3CNTx) has been considered as the most promising electrode material for flexible supercapacitors owing to its metallic conductivity, ultra-high capacitance, and excellent flexibility. However, it suffers from a severe restacking problem during the electrode fabrication process, limiting the ion transport kinetics and the accessibility of ions in the electrodes, especially in the direction normal to the electrode surface. Herein, we report a NH3-induced in situ etching strategy to fabricate 3D-interconnected porous MXene/carbon dots (p-MC) films for high-performance flexible supercapacitor. The pre-intercalated carbon dots (CDs) first prevent the restacking of MXene to expose more inner electrochemical active sites. The partially decomposed CDs generate NH3 for in situ etching of MXene nanosheets toward 3D-interconnected p-MC films. Benefiting from the structural merits and the 3D-interconnected ionic transmission channels, p-MC film electrodes achieve excellent gravimetric capacitance (688.9 F g-1 at 2 A g-1) and superior rate capability. Moreover, the optimized p-MC electrode is assembled into an asymmetric solid-state flexible supercapacitor with high energy density and superior cycling stability, demonstrating the great promise of p-MC electrode for practical applications.

Abstract
The design and preparation of heterogeneous structures of dielectric materials has been the mainstream direction for the construction of superior microwave absorption materials (MAMs). We report a facile and efficient procedure combination of hydrothermal process and subsequent heat treatment for successfully prepared bilayer core-shell structure self-assembled V2O3 microspheres (BCSV). The microstructure, defects, dielectric properties and microwave absorption (MA) properties of BCSV were systematically investigated, and the effect of bilayer core-shell structure on the MA properties was discussed. By varying the heat treatment temperature, it is feasible to regulate the thickness of V2O3 bilayer and its unique structure defects, hence enhancing the attenuation and multiple polarization loss of electromagnetic waves inside the microspheres. Self-assembled V2O3 microspheres with bilayer core-shell structure exhibit high-performance MA property. The reflection loss (RL) gets to - 67.12 dB at 11.69 GHz covering the whole X-band after heat treatment at 600 °C, and the broad effective absorption bandwidth is 5.49 GHz with a thickness of 2.20 mm. The conductivity loss, multiple polarization loss and dielectric loss are ascribed to the specific bilayer core-shell structure. Thus, our work provides a good perspective on how to create vanadium oxide-based MAMs with effective absorption and broad bandwidth.

Abstract
The rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoTs) and proliferation of wearable electronics have significantly stimulated the pursuit of distributed power supply systems that are small and light. Accordingly, micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) have recently attracted tremendous research interest due to their high power density, good energy density, long cycling life, and rapid charge/discharge rate delivered in a limited volume and area. As an emerging class of electrochemical energy storage devices, MSCs using polyaniline (PANI) electrodes are envisaged to bridge the gap between carbonaceous MSCs and micro-batteries, leading to a high power density together with improved energy density. However, despite the intensive development of PANI-based MSCs in the past few decades, a comprehensive review focusing on the chemical properties and synthesis of PANI, working mechanisms, design principles, and electrochemical performances of MSCs is lacking. Thus, herein, we summarize the recent advances in PANI-based MSCs using a wide range of electrode materials. Firstly, the fundamentals of MSCs are outlined including their working principle, device design, fabrication technology, and performance metrics. Then, the working principle and synthesis methods of PANI are discussed. Afterward, MSCs based on various PANI materials including pure PANI, PANI hydrogel, and PANI composites are discussed in detail. Lastly, concluding remarks and perspectives on their future development are presented. This review can present new ideas and give rise to new opportunities for the design of high-performance miniaturized PANI-based MSCs that underpin the sustainable prosperity of the approaching IoTs era.

Abstract
Wet-spinning is a promising strategy to fabricate fiber electrodes for real commercial fiber battery applications, according to its great compatibility with large-scale fiber production. However, engineering the rheological properties of the electrochemical active materials to accommodate the viscoelasticity or liquid crystalline requirements for continuous wet-spinning remains a daunting challenge. Here, with entropy-driven volume-exclusion effects, the rheological behavior of vanadium pentoxide (V2 O5 ) nanowire dispersions is regulated through introducing 2D graphene oxide (GO) flakes in an optimal ratio. By optimizing the viscoelasticity and liquid-crystalline behavior of the spinning dope, the wet-spun hybrid fibers display controlled hierarchical orientation. The wet-spun V2 O5 /rGO hybrid fiber with the optimal 10:1 mass fraction (V2 O5 /rGO10:1 ) exhibits a highly oriented nanoblock arrangement, enabling efficient Zn-ion migration and an excellent Zn-ion storage capacity of 486.03 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 . A half-meter long quasi-solid-state fiber Zn-ion battery is assembled with a polyacrylamide gel electrolyte and biocompatible Ecoflex encapsulation. The thus-derived fiber Zn-ion battery is integrated into a wearable self-powered system, incorporating a highly efficient GaAs solar cell, which delivers a record-high overall efficiency (9.80%) for flexible solar charging systems.
