Abstract
This work presents a significant investigation involving both electrochemical experiment and quantum chemical simulation approaches. The objective was to characterize the electrochemical detection of dopamine (DA). The detection was carried out using a modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) incorporating bentonite (Bent) and l-cysteine (CySH) (named as CySH/Bent/CPE). To understand and explain the oxidation mechanism of DA on the CySH/Bent modified electrode surface, the coupling of the two approaches were exploited. The CySH/Bent/CPE showed excellent electroactivity toward DA such as good sensibility, selectivity, stability, and regenerative ability. The developed sensor shows a dynamic linear range from 0.8 to 80 μM with a limit of detection and quantification of 0.5 μM and 1.5 μM, respectively. During the quantitative analysis of DA in presence of ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA) the electrochemical oxidation signals of AA, DA, and UA distinctly appear as three separate peaks. The potential differences between the peaks are 190 mv, 150 mv, and 340 mV for the AA-DA, DA-UA, and AA-UA oxidation pairs, respectively. These observations stem from square wave voltammetry (SWV) studies, along with the corresponding redox peak potential separations. The developed sensor is simple and accurate to monitor DA in human serum samples. On the other hand, CySH acts as an electrocatalyst on the CySH/Bent/CPE surface by increasing its active electron transfer sites, as suggested by the quantum chemical modeling with analytical results of Fukui. Furthermore, the voltammetric results obtained agree well with the theoretical calculations.

A Novel Electrochemical Sensor Based on Pd Confined Mesoporous Carbon Hollow Nanospheres for the Sensitive Detection of Ascorbic Acid, Dopamine, and Uric Acid. Molecules 2024; 29:2427. Abstract
In this study, we designed a novel electrochemical sensor by modifying a glass carbon electrode (GCE) with Pd confined mesoporous carbon hollow nanospheres (Pd/MCHS) for the simultaneous detection of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), and uric acid (UA). The structure and morphological characteristics of the Pd/MCHS nanocomposite and the Pd/MCHS/GCE sensor are comprehensively examined using SEM, TEM, XRD and EDX. The electrochemical properties of the prepared sensor are investigated through CV and DPV, which reveal three resolved oxidation peaks for AA, DA, and UA, thereby verifying the simultaneous detection of the three analytes. Benefiting from its tailorable properties, the Pd/MCHS nanocomposite provides a large surface area, rapid electron transfer ability, good catalytic activity, and high conductivity with good electrochemical behavior for the determination of AA, DA, and UA. Under optimized conditions, the Pd/MCHS/GCE sensor exhibited a linear response in the concentration ranges of 300-9000, 2-50, and 20-500 µM for AA, DA, and UA, respectively. The corresponding limit of detection (LOD) values were determined to be 51.03, 0.14, and 4.96 µM, respectively. Moreover, the Pd/MCHS/GCE sensor demonstrated outstanding selectivity, reproducibility, and stability. The recovery percentages of AA, DA, and UA in real samples, including a vitamin C tablet, DA injection, and human urine, range from 99.8-110.9%, 99.04-100.45%, and 98.80-100.49%, respectively. Overall, the proposed sensor can serve as a useful reference for the construction of a high-performance electrochemical sensing platform.

Abstract
Ascorbic acid (AA) plays an important role in many life processes. The chronic nutritional deficiency of AA will lead to the symptoms of scurvy. Therefore, the sensitive quantitative detection of AA is most important in the pharmaceutical analysis, food industry and diagnostic application. In this study, a dual-functional magnetic metal-organic frameworks (Fe3O4@SiO2@UiO-PBA) nanoparticles was synthesized by modifying phenylboronic acid to the surface of magnetic UiO-66-NH2 via postsynthetic modification for selectively and sensitively florescent detection of AA. Due to the abundant amino groups and grafted phenylboronic acid, the proposed nanoparticles have the dual properties of hydrophilicity and boronate affinity. Under optimum conditions, the obtained Fe3O4@SiO2@UiO-PBA nanoparticles can detect AA within 30 s, and has a good linear relationship with the concentration of AA in the range of 5.0-60 μM with a detection limit of 2.5 μM (S/N = 3). In addition, the prepared Fe3O4@SiO2@UiO-PBA nanoparticles showed excellent selectivity and great potential application in the highly efficient determination of trace AA in vitamin C tablets. These results indicated that a convenient method was proposed to develop fluorescent probes for rapid and sensitive detection of trace AA in real samples.

Abstract
In this study, a photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor based on perylene diimide derivatives (PDIs) was developed for the ultrasensitive quantification of dopamine (DA). PDIs were able to form self-assembled semiconductor nanostructures by strong π-π stacking, suitable for photoactive substances. Moreover, the shape of the PDI significantly affected the PEC properties of these nanostructures. The results showed that amino PDI with two-dimensional (2D) wrinkled layered nanostructures exhibited superior PEC properties relative to one-dimensional (1D) nanorods and fiber-based nanostructures (methyl and carboxyl PDIs). Based on these results, a mechanism for PEC sensor action was then proposed. The presence of 2D amino-PDI resulted in accelerated charge separation and transport. Furthermore, dopamine acted as effective electron donor to cause an increase in photocurrent. The as-obtained sensor was then used to detect small molecules like DA. A blue light optimized sensor at an applied potential of 0.7 V showed a detection limit of 1.67 nM with a wide linear range of 5 nM to 10 μM. On the other hand, the sensor presented acceptable reliability in determining DA in real samples. A recovery rate between 97.99 and 101.0% was obtained. Overall, controlling the morphology of semiconductors can influence PEC performance, which is a useful finding for the future development of PEC sensors.

Abstract
In the present work, an electrochemical sensor based on reduced graphene oxide/β-cyclodextrin/silver nanoparticle/polyoxometalate (RGO-CD-AgNP-POM) was developed for the simultaneous detection of uric acid (UA) and L-tyrosine (L-Tyr). First, an RGO-CD-AgNP-POM nanocomposite was synthesized via a simple photoreduction method and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray imaging (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). As an electrode material, RGO-CD-AgNP-POM showed wide linear ranges (0.5-500 μM for UA, and 1-400 μM for L-Tyr) and relatively low detection limits (0.11 μM for UA, and 0.23 μM for L-Tyr). In addition, the combination of supramolecular recognition from CD and excellent electrochemical performances from RGO, AgNPs and POM was expected to enhance the sensing performances toward UA and L-Tyr in real samples with favorable recovery ranges (99%-104%). This nanocomposite provides a new platform for developing the family of electrode materials.

Abstract
Almost regular hexagonal arrays of microscopic pyramids consisting of soot nanoparticles are formed on the surface of graphitized hollow filaments, which are resistively heated to ∼1800-2400 °C under an Ar atmosphere containing trace amounts of oxygen (∼300 ppm). At higher temperatures (T > 2300 °C, approximately) the soot particles are represented mainly by multishell carbon nano-onions. The height and width of the pyramids are strongly dependent on the temperature of the resistive heating, diminishing from 5 to 10 μm at T ≈ 1800 °C to ∼1 μm at 2300-2400 °C. Quasi-hexagonal arrays of the micropyramids are organized in the convex "craters" on the surface of the microtubes, which grow with the time of the thermal treatment. The pyramids always point normally to the surface of the craters, except at the boundaries between the craters, where the normal direction is not well-defined. The pyramids are soft and can be easily destroyed by touching them but can be hardened by heating them under an oxygen-free atmosphere. The pyramids are observed only on the exterior surface of the microtubes, not on their inner surface. This suggests that the thermophoretic force generated by a strong temperature gradient near the external surface of the tubes may be the cause of the micropyramid formation. Electrostatic charging of the soot nanoparticles due to thermionic emission may also be relevant to this phenomenon. The micropyramids can function as field emission point sources, as demonstrated with the use of a micronanoprobing station, mounted in a scanning electron microscope.

Abstract
Gene biomarkers of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in liquid biopsies have been explored for use in the precise diagnosis of tumors. There is a great clinical need to realize the ultrasensitive detection of gene biomarkers in ctDNA. Here we reported that an ultrasensitive label-free biosensor was developed for the detection of the gastric cancer-related PIK3CA gene of ctDNA in peripheral blood. The polymeric l-arginine and graphene oxide-wrapped gold nanostars (rGO-AuNSs) were prepared and deposited on the glass electrode. The capturing DNA probes for the PIK3CA gene were prepared and successfully immobilized on the rGO-AuNS-modified electrode surface via π-π interaction among the rGO-AuNS composites and DNA probes. The resultant electrochemical sensor was effectively applied to detect the PIK3CA gene of ctDNA via the hybridization between the capturing DNA probe and ctDNA, the result of which showed that the biosensor exhibited desirable sensitivity, stability, and a wider dynamic response in a ctDNA concentration range from 1.0 × 10-20 to 1.0 × 10-10 M (R2 = 0.997). Moreover, the low limit of detection of 1.0 × 10-20 M (S/N = 3) indicates the biosensor owns satisfactory detection sensitivity. Fourteen PIK3CA genes and two PIK3CA gene mutations were detected in 60 clinical ctDNA samples of gastric cancer patients by using the developed biosensor. In conclusion, this ultrasensitive label-free electrochemical biosensor possesses a significant application prospect in the detection of the PIK3CA gene in ctDNA and in early screening for gastric cancer in the near future.

Abstract
In the present work, exfoliated graphite oxide (E-GO) was prepared by sonicating graphite oxide (GO) (prepared by modified Hummer's and Offemam methods). Prepared GO and E-GO were characterized using infrared absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. The electrocatalytic properties of GO and E-GO towards detection of dopamine (DA), uric acid (UA), and folic acid (FA) were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. Our results revealed that E-GO has a slighter advantage over the GO as an electrode modifier for detection DA, UA, and FA, which might be ascribed to the good conductivity of E-GO when compared to the GO.

Abstract
In this study, an electrochemical sensing strategy was developed based on the synergies of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) doped carboxylated covalent organic frameworks (ACOFs) and poly(fuchsin basic) film for the simultaneous detection of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), and uric acid (UA). This strategy not only took advantage of the adopted materials but also made use of the H-bonding and electrostatic interaction between the three compounds and materials. For this sensing, a poly-BFu film was formed on the surface of bare glass carbon electrode (GCE) under a constant potential. AuNPs was highly dispersed and immobilized on the constructed ACOF-TaTp to obtain AuNPs@ACOF. The constructed sensor AuNPs@ACOF/p-BFu/GCE combined the merits of high surface area, hydrophilicity, conductivity, and selective affinity, consequently exhibiting high sensitivity and selectivity toward the simultaneous detection of AA, DA, and UA with wide linear response ranges of 25-1500 μM, 0.75-40 μM, and 1-200 μM, respectively. The corresponding detection limits were 12.0 μM, 0.15 μM, and 0.22 μM. The simultaneous determination of UA in real human urine sample further confirmed the practicability of the designed electrode.

Abstract
Many diseases are closely related to abnormal concentrations of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), and uric acid (UA). Therefore, the detection of these small molecules is significant for monitoring life metabolism and healthy states. Electrochemical detection has been widely used to detect small molecules due to its good selectivity, high sensitivity, and good economics. Fabrication and application are two sides of the coin, and we cannot give up one for the other. Graphene (GN) is a very suitable material for electrochemical sensing due to its excellent catalytic performance and large specific surface area. It possesses many excellent properties but cannot hold itself alone due to its nanoscale thickness. Herein, we have fabricated three-dimensional (3D) GN nanosheets (GNSs) on flexible carbon cloth (CC) by thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD). The GNSs/CC can successfully detect AA, DA, and UA simultaneously. We find that these GNSs/CC sensors show good performance with 7 h CVD modification. The linear ranges of AA, DA, and UA are 0.02-0.1, 0.0005-0.02, and 0.0005-0.02 mM, respectively. The detection sensitivity rates of AA, DA, and UA are 5,470, 60,500, and 64,000 μA mM-1 cm-2, respectively. Our GNSs/CC flexible sensors can be successfully applied in the human serum for UA detection. The result matches with commercial sensors very well.

Abstract
This work demonstrates the analysis of epinephrine (EP) and uric acid (UA) in a single drop (the volume of the test solution was only 50 µL) using a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) sensor and square-wave voltammetry (SWV). The limit of detection, limit of quantification, linearity, accuracy, precision, and robustness were validated. The normality of the experimental data was tested and confirmed for both methods. Heteroscedasticity was checked by residual analysis followed by a statistical F-test. The latter was confirmed for both analytes. The low relative standard deviations (RSD) at all calibration points and repetitive slopes justified the use of a calibration curve; therefore, the standard addition methodology was avoided (the latter is common in electroanalysis, but time-consuming). Since the conditions for using an ordinary least squares (OLS) regression were not met, weighted linear regression (WLR) was used to improve the accuracy of the analytical results at low concentrations of the analytes. In this manner, the best weighted model was determined and used for the quantification. A comparison was made between the OLS and WLR methods to show the necessity of using the WLR method for EP and UA analysis. The newly developed and validated methods were also shown to be effective in the analysis of real samples. The content of EP in an EP auto-injector and UA in human urine was tested by employing the best weighted model. For EP and UA, the accuracy in terms of the average recovery value was 101.01% and 94.35%, and precision in terms of RSD was 5.65% and 2.75%, respectively. A new analytical methodology is presented that uses a low volume (a single drop), and it offers the advantage of electroanalysis for on-site analysis, where conventional chromatographic techniques cannot be easily employed. Furthermore, the developed technique has additional advantages in terms of speed, cost, and miniaturization.

Abstract
A facile one-pot precipitation method was employed to prepare a petal-shaped hybrid under mild conditions. The hybrid is composed of urate oxidase (UOx) encapsulated into a zeolite-like metal-organic framework (MOF) with the doping of a hollow gold nanocage (AuNC). As one of the MOF-enzyme composites, a UOx@MOF(AuNC) hybrid with the features of artificial nanoenzymes was developed as a novel dual-channel biosensing platform for fluorescence (FL) and electrochemical detection of uric acid (UA). As for FL biosensing, enzymatic catalysis of the hybrid in the presence of UA triggered tandem catalysis and oxidation reactions to cause FL quenching. UA was linearly detected in the 0.1-10 μM and 10-300 μM ranges, with the limit of detection (LOD) of 20 nM. As for electrochemical biosensing, the hybrid was dropped on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface to construct a hybrid/GCE platform. Based on the redox reaction of UA on the platform surface, UA was linearly detected in the 0.05-55 μM range, with a LOD of 15 nM. Experimental results confirmed that the hybrid-based dual-channel biosensing platform enabled selective and sensitive responses to UA over potential interferents. The platform has an excellent detection capability in physiological samples. The dual-channel biosensing platform facilitates the exploration of new bioanalysis techniques for early clinical diagnosis of diseases.

Abstract
How to detect uric acid is an important issue. For the purpose of preparing a potentiometric uric acid biosensor, this research used nickel oxide (NiO) as the sensing film to deposit it onto the substrate by radio frequency sputtering, then modified it with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and silver (Ag) nanowires. Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) not only has excellent electrical conductivity, but also can make the surface of the film have a larger surface area, while AgNWs have also been proven to improve catalytic activity; hence, these two materials were chosen as sensor modifiers. Finally, the stability and the various characteristics of the uric acid biosensor were investigated using a voltage–time (V–T) system. The results showed that the AgNW–uricase/rGO/NiO uric acid biosensor has average sensitivity with 4.66 mV/(mg/L). In addition, the sensor has good stability.

Abstract
Lithium cobalt phosphate (LCP) was prepared and modified on the surface of glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to fabricate the electrochemical sensor (LCP/GCE) for the simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), and serum uric acid (UA). The homogenous incorporation of carbon improved the conductivity of LCP. Benefiting from the small particle size distribution, LCP/GCE has a large active surface and responds to AA, DA, and UA sensitively and rapidly. For the simultaneous detection with differential pulse voltammetry the anodic peaks of AA, DA, and UA were well-separated and appeared at ~0 V, ~0.19 V, and ~ 0.33 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), respectively. The linear responses toward AA, DA, and UA were in the range 10 μM-8.0 mM, 10 nM-10 μM, and 0.020 μM-25 μM; the detection limits were estimated to be 8.10 μM, 7.50 nM, and 22.7 nM (S/N = 3), respectively. The excellent selectivity and reproducibility of LCP/GCE enable serum UA to be detected without the interference of AA and DA. The recoveries of DA and AA in the serum sample were in the range 95 to 111%. The results indicate that LCP has the potential to be developed as the sensing devices to be applied to in vitro diagnosis. The lithium-ion battery cathodic material, LCP with the excellent adsorption and catalytic behavior, was utilized to fabricate the electrochemical sensor for the sensitive and simultaneous detection of AA, DA, and UA, which achieved the low detection limits and the wide concentration ranges. LCP/GCE can be used for the quantitative detection of serum UA without the interference of DA and AA. In addition, the recoveries of DA and AA in human serum were satisfactory, which illustrate the reliability of LCP/GCE to be applied to in vitro diagnosis.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) MXenes have shown a great potential for chemical sensing due to their electric properties. In this work, a Ti3C2Tx/polypyrrole (MXene/PPy) nanocomposite has been synthesized and immobilized into a glassy carbon electrode to enable the simultaneous recognition of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) under the interference of ascorbic acid (AA). The multilayer Ti3C2Tx MXene was prepared via the aqueous acid etching method and delaminated to a single layer nanosheet, benefiting the in-situ growth of PPy nanowires. The controllable preparation strategy and the compounding of PPy material remain great challenges for further practical application. A facile chemical oxidation method was proposed to regulate magnitude and density during the forming process of PPy nanowire, which promotes the conductivity and the electrochemical active site of this as-prepared nanomaterial. The MXene/PPy nanocomposite-modified electrode exhibited the selective determination of DA and UA in the presence of a high concentration of AA, as well as a wide linear range (DA: 12.5–125 μM, UA: 50–500 μM) and a low detection limit (DA: 0.37 μM, UA: 0.15 μM). More importantly, the simultaneous sensing for the co-existence of DA and UA was successfully achieved via the as-prepared sensor.

Abstract
Graphene oxide-quantum dots systems are emerging as a new class of materials that hold promise for biochemical sensing applications. In this paper, the eco-friendly carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are prepared with cheap and recyclable coke powders as carbon source. The graphene oxide-carbon quantum dots (GO-CQDs) composites are synthesized using graphene oxide as the conductive skeleton to load the CQDs by a one-step calcination method. The obtained GO-CQDs composites demonstrate the successful decoration of CQDs on GO nanosheets. The CQDs acting as spacers create gaps between GO sheets, resulting in a high surface area, which electively increases the electrolyte accessibility and electronic transmission. The electrocatalytic activity and reversibility of GO-CQDs composites can be effectively enhanced by tuning the mass ratio of GO to CQDs and the heating process. Furthermore, a highly sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor for determining uric acid (UA) and ascorbic acid (AA) was developed by modifying GO-CQDs composites onto a glassy carbon electrode. The results show that the linear range, minimum detection limit, and sensitivity of the GO-CQDs electrode for UA detection are 1-150 μM, 0.01 μM, and 2319.4 μA mM-1 cm-2, respectively, and those for AA detection are 800-9000 μM, 31.57 μM, and 53.1 μA mM-1 cm-2, respectively. The GO-CQDs are employed as the electrode materials for the serum and urine samples electrochemical sensing, the results indicate that the sensor can be used for the analysis of real biological samples.

Abstract
The current study aims to provide a valid comparison between glucose detection efficiency with an enzymatic and a non-enzymatic sensing platform. A low-cost nano-matrix for glucose sensing was developed by drop-coating copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) onto a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) electrospun nanofibrous assembly. The PAN NFs/Cu NPs matrix was optimized regarding electrospinning time and Cu NPs content and employed as a non-enzymatic sensor or further modified by cross-linking of glucose oxidase (GOD) for the development of an enzymatic sensor. The non-enzymatic glucose sensor was three times more sensitive (300 mAM-1cm-2) than the enzymatic one (81 mAM-1cm-2) with similar limit of detection values (5.9 and 5.6 µM, respectively). Incorporation of MWCNTs improved both the LOD (3.3 µM) and the operational stability of the non-enzymatic configuration (RSD 7.3%). The interference effect proved insignificant for the enzymatic sensor due to the innate catalytic selectivity whilst the non-enzymatic sensor acquired selectivity due to the nanofibrous PAN matrix and Nafion coating. The non-enzymatic PAN NFs/Cu NPs sensor was chosen for the detection of glucose in real blood serum samples whilst the PAN NFs/Cu NPs/GOD sensor was applied for glucose detection in fruit juices, both proving recovery results close to 100%.

Abstract
The use of sensitive electrochemical sensors to detect biomarkers is an effective method for the early diagnosis of several neurodegenerative diseases (NDs), such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, etc. However, the commercialization of enzyme/aptamer-based sensors is still hampered owing to the historic drawbacks of biorecognition elements including high cost, poor stability, and complex integration technology. Non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors are more attractive compared to their traditional counterparts and can be widely harnessed owing to their low cost, high stability, sensitivity, and ease of miniaturization. This review summarizes recent research progress focusing on the construction of non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors and analyzes their present use in the early diagnosis of NDs. Additionally, this review addresses the limitations and challenges of the use of current non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor technologies for the diagnosis of NDs and highlights the possible directions for future research.

Abstract
Magnetic nanoparticles of iron oxide (γ-Fe2O3) have been prepared using bio-assisted method and their application in the field of biosensors is demonstrated. Particularly in this work, different nanostructures of γ-Fe2O3 namely nanospheres (NS), nanograsses (NG) and nanowires (NW) are prepared using a bio-surfactant namely Furostanol Saponin (FS) present in Fenugreek seeds extract through co-precipitation method by following "green" route. Three distinct morphologies of iron oxide nanostructures possessing the same crystal structure, magnetic properties, and varied size distribution are prepared and characterized. The resultant materials are analyzed using field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Moreover, the effect of reaction time and concentration of FS on the resultant morphologies of γ-Fe2O3 nanostructures are systematically investigated. Among different shapes, NWs and NSs of γ-Fe2O3 are found to exhibit better sensing behaviour for both the individual and simultaneous electrochemical detection of most popular biomarkers namely dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). Electrochemical studies reveal that γ-Fe2O3 NWs showed better sensing characteristics than γ-Fe2O3 NSs and NGs in terms of distinguishable voltammetric signals for DA and UA with enhanced oxidation current values. Differential pulse voltammetric studies exhibit linear dependence on DA and UA concentrations in the range of 0.15-75 µM and 5 μM - 0.15 mM respectively. The detection limit values for DA and UA are determined to be 150 nM and 5 µM. In addition γ-Fe2O3 NWs modified electrode showed higher sensitivity, reduced overpotential along with good selectivity towards the determination of DA and UA even in the presence of other common interferents. Thus the proposed biosensor electrode is very easy to fabricate, eco-friendly, cheaper and possesses higher surface area suggesting the unique structural patterns of γ-Fe2O3 nanostructures to be a promising candidate for electrochemical bio-sensing and biomedical applications.

Abstract
A new photo-electrochemical sensor based on MIL-101(Cr) MOF/carbon black (CB) is fabricated and characterized. By using differential pulse voltammetry, dopamine (DA) can be effectively detected using a photo-electrochemical MIL-101(Cr)/CB sensor under visible light. The CB acts as the electron bridge to combine with the large specific surface area and photo-catalytic feature of MOF, which contribute to the improvements of sensitivity of DA detection. The concentration of the catalyst, pH value, accumulation potential, and accumulation time were also optimized. Furthermore, the electrochemical performances of MIL-101(Cr)/CB sensor was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scan rate, electrochemically active surface area (ECSA), and amperometric responses. A detection limit of 0.38 nM (LOD = 3 sb/S, sb = 0.028) and a working range of 1 nM to 2.22 μM has been achieved. The MIL-101(Cr)/CB sensor exhibits excellent reproducibility, stability, and selectivity and also has satisfactory recovery rate for the analysis of real samples including calf serum and human urine. Abstract
Consumption of sunset yellow (SY) above a certain concentration through food products may leads to adverse health issues. Therefore, it is imperative to develop technologies for rapid and selective detection of SY. Herein, a flower-like reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN)/ZnO-Au nanoparticle (NPs) has been prepared and utilized for the specific detection of SY. The fabricated rGO-g-CN/ZnO-AuNPs composite was characterized and investigated by XRD, FTIR, SEM, TEM, XPS, EIS, and voltammetry techniques. Characterization techniques elucidated the deposition of ZnO-AuNPs on to the rGO-g-CN and successful fabrication of rGO-g-CN/ZnO-AuNPs composite. rGO-g-CN/ZnO-AuNPs composite possesses excellent catalytic activity for the oxidation of SY. Developed rGO-g-CN/ZnO-AuNPs sensor exhibits LOD of 1.34 nM for SY concentrations ranging from 5 to 85 nM. Noteworthily, the sensor has been successfully employed for the detection and recovery of SY in real-time samples. Fabricated composite opens up new avenues to develop electrochemical sensor for food safety.

Abstract
Nowadays, several neurological disorders and neurocrine tumours are associated with dopamine (DA) concentrations in various biological fluids. Highly accurate and ultrasensitive detection of DA levels in different biological samples in real-time can change and improve the quality of a patient's life in addition to reducing the treatment cost. Therefore, the design and development of diagnostic tool for in vivo and in vitro monitoring of DA is of considerable clinical and pharmacological importance. In recent decades, a large number of techniques have been established for DA detection, including chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry, spectroscopic approaches, and electrochemical (EC) methods. These methods are effective, but most of them still have some drawbacks such as consuming time, effort, and money. Added to that, sometimes they need complex procedures to obtain good sensitivity and suffer from low selectivity due to interference from other biological species such as uric acid (UA) and ascorbic acid (AA). Advanced materials can offer remarkable opportunities to overcome drawbacks in conventional DA sensors. This review aims to explain challenges related to DA detection using different techniques, and to summarize and highlight recent advancements in materials used and approaches applied for several sensor surface modification for the monitoring of DA. Also, it focuses on the analytical features of the EC and optical-based sensing techniques available.

Abstract
Nitrogen-doped mesoporous carbons (N-MCs) are promising materials for electrochemical sensors or biosensors. However, facile and effective methods for the preparation of N-MCs for electrochemical detection of dopamine (DA) are required. A molten-glucose-assisted hard-template approach has been developed to synthesize N-MC materials by in situ introduction of nitrogen precursors, including ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt (EDTA), dicyandiamide, and melamine. The combined characterization of X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 sorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) indicate the successful preparation of N-MC materials. Most importantly, after detailed examination by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), N-MC obtained by using melamine as precursor (designated as N-MC-MA) displays good catalytic activity for electrochemical oxidation of DA. The N-MC-MA-based DA sensor shows a linear range from 0.2-8 μm with a detection limit of 0.05 μm in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA), thus showing excellent sensitivity and selectivity for electrochemical DA detection.

Abstract
In this work, a Cu-based nanosheet metal–organic framework (MOF), HKUST-1, was synthesised using a solvent method at room temperature. Its morphology, structure and composition were characterised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption and desorption isotherms, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and elemental analysis (EA). This material was then loaded onto the surface of an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode to catalyse the electrochemical oxidation of ascorbic acid (AA). An equal-electron-equal-proton reaction was deduced from the pH investigation, and a diffusion-controlled process was reinforced by the dynamics study. Under optimal conditions, the oxidation peak current at +0.02 V displayed a linear relationship with the concentration of AA within the ranges of 0.01–25 and 25–265 mM, respectively. The limit of detection (LOD) was 3 μM at S/N of 3. The superb response could be ascribed to the porous nanosheet structure of HKUST-1, which enhanced both the effective surface area and the electron transfer ability significantly. Moreover, the novel AA sensor demonstrated good reproducibility, favourable stability and high sensitivity towards glucose, uric acid (UA), dopamine (DA) and several amino acids. It was also successfully applied to the real sample testing of various AA-containing tablets. In this work, a Cu-based nanosheet metal–organic framework (MOF), HKUST-1, was synthesised using a solvent method at room temperature and it demonstrated high capability and sensitivity towards the oxidation of ascorbic acid (AA).![]()

Abstract
Thanks to operational simplicity, speediness, possibility of miniaturization and real-time nature, electrochemical sensing is a supreme alternative for non-electrochemical methodologies in drug quantification. This review, highlights different nanotech-based sensory designs for electroanalysis of isoniazid and rifampicin, the most important medicines for patients with tuberculosis. We first, concisely mention analyses with bare electrodes, associated impediments and inspected possible strategies and then critically review the last two decades works with focus on different nano-scaled electrode modifiers. We organized and described the materials engaged in several categories: Surfactants modifiers, polymeric modifiers, metallic nanomaterials, carbon based nano-modifiers (reduced graphene oxide, multi-walled carbon nanotubes, ordered mesoporous carbon) and a large class of multifarious nano composites-based sensors and biosensors. The main drawbacks and superiorities associated with each array as well as the current trend in the areas is attempted to discuss. Summary of 79 employed electrochemical approaches for analysis of isoniazid and rifampicin has also been presented.
