Abstract
Pyrrole-based polymers (PBPs), a type of fascinating functional polymers, play a crucial role in materials science. However, efficient synthetic strategies of PBPs with diverse structures are mainly focused on conjugated polypyrroles and still remain challenging. Herein, an atom and step economy protocol is described to access various 2,4-disubstituted PBPs by in situ formation of pyrrole core structure via copper-catalyzed [3+2] polycycloaddition of dialkynones and diisocyanoacetates. A series of PBPs is prepared with high molecular weight (Mw up to 18 200 Da) and moderate to good yield (up to 87%), which possesses a fluorescent emission located in the green to yellow light region. Blending the PBPs with polyvinyl alcohol, the stretchable composite films exhibit a significant strengthening of the mechanical properties (tensile stress up to 59 MPa, elongation at break >400%) and an unprecedented stress-responsive luminescence enhancement that over fourfold fluorescent emission intensity is maintained upon stretching up to 100%. On the basis of computational studies, the unique photophysical and mechanical properties are attributed to the substitution of carbonyl chromophores on the pyrrole unit.

Abstract
The N-tert-butanesulfinylimine group behaves as a suitable electron-withdrawing group in 1-azadienes, allowing the diastereoselective synthesis of densely substituted pyrrolidines by 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions (1,3-DCs) with azomethylene ylides. The use of Ag2CO3 as catalyst has allowed one to obtain a wide variety of proline derivatives with high regio- and diastereoselectivities. Subsequent efficient transformations provide valuable proline derivatives, some of which can be used as organocatalysts. The influence of the N-tert-butanesulfinyl group on the diastereoselectivity was studied by computational methods.

Abstract
A catalytic asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between iminoesters derived from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and different activated alkenes is reported. Excellent levels of diastereo and enantioselectivity were obtained when Fesulphos/CuI complex was used as catalyst. This metodology provides an effective and sustainable access to challenging enantioenriched heterocyclic scaffolds and represents one of the rare examples of catalytic asymmetric transformations using HMF as a starting material.

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed asymmetric propargylic substitution with salicylaldehyde-derived imine esters and propargylic carbonates has been successfully realized, generating a wide range of chiral amino acid derivatives containing propargylic groups with excellent results (up to 95% yield and 94% ee). The ortho-hydroxy group of the salicylaldehyde-derived imine esters is crucial to increase the reactivity and stabilize the azomethine ylide, which may be due to the formation of an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the hydroxyl group and the imine group. A series of synthetic transformations were carried out to access other important chiral compounds, which displayed the synthetic versatility.

Abstract
Hydrazones derived from cycloalkenones undergo an enantioselective transannular formal (3 + 2) cycloaddition catalyzed by a chiral phosphoric acid. The reaction provides high yields and excellent stereocontrol in the formation of complex adducts with one or two α-tertiary amine moieties at the ring fusion, and these can be converted into very versatile stereodefined decalin- or octahydro-1H-indene-derived 1,3-diamines through simple reductive N-N cleavage.

Abstract
By virtue of a fundamentally new reaction model of azomethine ylide serving as a two-atom synthon, we present the first example of stereodivergent preparation of γ-butyrolactones via synergistic Cu/Ir-catalyzed asymmetric cascade allylation/lactonization, and all four stereoisomers of γ-butyrolactones bearing two vicinal stereocenters are accessible with excellent diastereoselective and enantioselective control. The chiral IrIII -π-allyl intermediate was separated and characterized to understand the origin of the regio- and stereoselectivity of the initial C-C bond formation process. Control experiments shed some light on the catalyst/substrate and catalyst/catalyst interactions in this dual catalytic system to rationalize the related kinetic/dynamic kinetic resolution process with different catalyst combinations. The enantioenriched γ-butyrolactone products were converted into an array of structurally complex chiral molecules and organocatalysts that were otherwise inaccessible.

Abstract
The kinetics and stereochemistry of the reactions of iminium ions derived from cinnamaldehydes and MacMillan's imidazolidinones with diphenyldiazomethane and aryldiazomethanes were investigated experimentally and with DFT calculations. The reactions of diphenyldiazomethane with iminium ions derived from MacMillan's second-generation catalysts gave 3-aryl-2,2-diphenylcyclopropanecarbaldehydes with yields >90 % and enantiomeric ratios of ≥90:10. Predominantly 2:1 products were obtained from the corresponding reactions with monoaryldiazomethanes. The measured rate constants are in good agreement with the rate constants derived from the one-center nucleophilicity parameters N and sN of diazomethanes and the one-center electrophilicity parameters E of iminium ions as well as with quantum chemically calculated activation energies.

Abstract
A new type of all-carbon 1,3-dipole precursor, 3-homoacylcoumarin, was employed for the stereoselective (3+2) cycloaddition with indandione alkylidenes to generate a series of coumarin/indandione-fused spirocyclopentanes bearing four contiguous stereogenic centers. While two reaction pathways progressed simultaneously, detailed mechanistic investigation revealed that the highly efficient stereoselective concerted route dominated the extremely slow stepwise pathway.

Optimization of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (1,3-DC), original methods including electrophilic or palladium-mediated cyclization of unsaturated hydroxylamine, has been developed to obtain isoxazolidines. Novel reactions involving the isoxazolidine ring have been highlighted to accomplish total synthesis or to obtain bioactive compounds, one of the most significant examples being probably the thermic ring contraction applied to the total synthesis of (±)-Gelsemoxonine. The unique isoxazolidine scaffold also exhibits an impressive potential as a mimic of nucleosides, carbohydrates, PNA, amino acids, and steroid analogs. This review aims to be a comprehensive and general summary of the different isoxazolidine syntheses, their use as starting building blocks for the preparation of natural compounds, and their main biological activities.

Siadati SA. Effect of Steric Congestion on the Stepwise Character and Synchronicity of a 1,3-Dipolar Reaction of a Nitrile Ylide and an Olefin. JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL RESEARCH 2015. Abstract
It has been hypothesised that steric congestion could play a key role in directing the 1,3-dipolar reaction mechanism in its shift from a concerted to a stepwise model. An example is given of the influence of steric congestion on the concertedness of a 1,3-dipolar reaction mechanism. Keeping other influences untouched, including the effects of electron-withdrawing or electron-donating groups, the nature of the dipole or dipolarophile, solvent, as well as the catalytic effects which have been kept fixed, this study focuses on the steric effect. At least in the case of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile ylide and common olefins, when steric congestion serves as the only influence, it is unable to change the reaction mechanism from concerted into stepwise.

Abstract
An efficient multi-component reaction to synthesize multi-substituted 1,3-oxazolidine compounds of high optical purity was described. All the products were well-characterized and the absolute configuration of one chiral center was determined. The plausible mechanism was proposed and a kinetic resolution of epoxides process was confirmed.
