Abstract
The development of high-performance specific sensors is promising for the rapid detection of harmful residues in animal-derived foods. Recently, luminescent metal-organic framework/molecularly imprinted polymer (LMOF/MIP) materials have been developed as ideal candidates for the analysis of harmful residues. Here, we reported a simple fabrication protocol of paper-based chip through in-situ growth of LMOF on a negatively charged modified filter paper, a paper-based molecularly imprinting layer (FP@BA-Eu@MIP) was thereafter successfully prepared via the boronate affinity-based controllable oriented surface imprinting strategy. The paper-based chips obtained were used to construct a rapid test strip of tetracycline (TC). After addition of TC, significant fluorescence changes on the surface of the FP@BA-Eu@MIP paper-based chip could be observed from blue to red via inner filter effect and photo-induced electron transfer under the excitation of 360 nm. The adsorption kinetics was explored in detail. The presented strip exhibited satisfied selectiveness and sensitivity with a limit of detection of 8.47 μg L-1 for TC. It was confirmed that LMOF/MIP as a biomimetic recognition module can play a crucial role in enrichment and fluorescence response. This study provided a real application case for an in-situ fabricated fluorescence paper-based chip in rapidly detecting harmful residues.

Abstract
Gossypol (Gsp) and antibiotics present in water bodies become organic pollutants that are harmful to human health and the ecological environment. Accurate and effective detection of these pollutants has far-reaching significance in many fields. A new three-dimensional metal-organic framework (MOF), {[Eu3(L)2(HCOO-)(H2O)3]·2H2O·2DMF}n (Eu-MOF), was synthesized from 3,5-bis(2,4-dicarboxylphenyl)nitrobenzene (H4L) ligand and Eu3+ via the solvothermal method in this paper. The Eu-MOF demonstrates strong red fluorescence and can remain stable in different pH solutions. The MOF fluorescence probe could detect organic pollutants through the "shut-off" effect, with a fast response speed and a low detection limit [Gsp, nitrofurantoin (NFT), and nitrofurazone (NFZ) for 0.43, 0.38, and 0.41 μM, respectively]. During the testing process, Eu-MOF exhibited good selectivity and recoverability. Furthermore, the mechanism of fluorescence quenching was investigated, and the recoveries were also good in real samples. This paper introduced a deep learning model to recognize the fluorescence images, a portable intelligent logic detector designed for real-time detection of Gsp by logic gate strategy, and an anticounterfeiting mark prepared based on inkjet printing. Importantly, this work provides a new way of thinking for the detection of organic pollutants in water with high sensitivity and practicality by combining the fluorescence probe with machine learning and logical judgment.

Abstract
Tracer testing in reservoir formations is utilised to determine residual oil saturation as part of optimum hydrocarbon production. Here, we present a novel detection method of liquid organic compounds by monodisperse SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) containing two luminophores, a EuIII:EDTA complex and a newly synthesised fluorophore based on the organic boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY)-moiety. The particles exhibited stable EuIII PL emission intensity with a long lifetime in aqueous dispersion. The fluorescence of the BODIPY was also preserved in the aqueous environment. The ratiometric PL detection technique was demonstrated by using toluene and 1-octanol as model compounds of crude oil. The optimal synthesis conditions were found to give NPs with a diameter of ~100 nm, which is suitable for transport through porous oil reservoir structures. The cytotoxicity of the NPs was confirmed to be very low for human lung cell and fish cell lines. These findings demonstrate the potential of the NPs to replace the hazardous chemicals used to estimate the residual oil saturation. Moreover, the ratiometric PL detection technique is anticipated to be of benefit in other fields, such as biotechnology, medical diagnostics, and environmental monitoring, where a reliable and safe detection of a liquid organic phase is needed.

Pesticides luminescent sensing by a Tb 3+-doped Zn metal-organic framework with selectivity towards parathion. ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION (BARKING, ESSEX : 1987) 2024; 343:123195. Abstract
Organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) such as parathion have extensive uses in agriculture and household applications. Chronic exposure to these pesticides can cause severe health and environmental issues. Therefore, a current ecological concern is associated with accumulating these noxious OPPs in food and water sources. In this work, a new Tb3+-doped Zn-LMOF (Zn-LMOF= (3D) {[Zn3(1,4 benzenedicarboxylate)3(EtOH)2]·(EtOH)0.6}∞) was synthesized by a solvent-free reaction between the Zn-LMOF and the salt TbCl3·6H2O using a high-speed ball milling. The Tb@Zn-LMOF was thoroughly characterized by multiple spectroscopic tools, including Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, and studied in-depth as a luminescent sensor for a series of pesticides (parathion, malathion, methalaxil, carbofuran, iprodione, captan and glyphosate) in aqueous methanol. The Tb@Zn-LMOF is a long-lived green-emitting compound with luminescence originated by an efficient antenna effect from the excited energy levels of Zn-LMOF toward the 5D state of Tb3+ ions, as it is displayed by its strong emission bands at 488, 545, 585, and 620 nm and a lifetime of 1.01 ms upon excitation at 290 nm. Additions of pesticides to a neutral methanolic dispersion of Tb@Zn-LMOF modified its green emission intensity with a pronounced selectivity toward parathion within the micromolar concentration range. The detection limit for parathion was calculated to be 3.04 ± 0.2 μM for Tb@Zn-LMOF. Based on 31P NMR and mass spectrometry studies, it is attributed to the release of lanthanide ions from Tb@Zn-LMOF with the simultaneous formation of a Tb3+-parathion complex.

Abstract
Two new ZnII/CdII luminescent coordination polymers (CPs) based on the V-shaped bis(imidazole) ligand 3,6-bis (1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)-9-methyl-9H-carbazole (bbimc) with [1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid ligand (H2bpdc) have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions: {[Zn(bbimc)(bpdc)]·DMF·2.5H2O} (CP 1), {[Cd(bbimc)(bpdc)]·2DMF} (CP 2). CP 1 and CP 2 both display a uninodal 4-c unimodal sql topology 2D framework with vertex symbols of {44·62}. In addition, the two identical 2D nets of CP 2 were interpenetrated each other to form a 2D + 2D → 3D and generate a 2-fold interpenetrating architecture. Moreover, sensing investigations of CP 1 and CP 2 revealed that both of compounds can be used as a highly sensitive and selective multi-responsive luminescent sensor for sensing Cr2O72-, CrO42- and antibiotics (TC: Tetracycline; CTC: Chlortetracycline) in H2O by exhibiting fluorescence quenching with significant quenching constants (Ksv = 1.369 × 104 M-1 (Cr2O72-), 2.003 × 104 M-1 (CrO42-), 5.343 × 104 M-1 (TC), 8.706 × 104 M-1 (CTC) for CP 1 and 4.452 × 104 M-1 (Cr2O72-), 2.119 × 104 M-1 (CrO42-), 4.175 × 104 M-1 (TC), 1.257 × 105 M-1 (CTC) for CP 2). The detection limit are 0.67 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.48 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.23 μM (TC), 0.14 μM (CTC) for CP 1 and 0.28 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.54 μM (CrO42-), 0.31 μM (TC), 0.098 μM (CTC) for CP 2, respectively. In addition, the probable fluorescence quenching mechanism was studied through experiment and theoretical calculation and the co-existance of competitive absorption (CA) and photoinduced electron transfer (PET) progress contributed to such sensing processes.

Abstract
Herein, the green synthesis of heterogeneous dual functional MIL88A-on-MIL88B hybrids (MIL: Materials InstituteLavoisier) with different amounts of MIL88B compared to MIL88A, including 1:2, 1:1, and 2:1, has been carried out. The photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline and adsorption of tetracycline and dyes (Direct Red 80, Direct Red 23, Acid Blue 92, and Reactive Orange 14) were investigated. Although the ratio of MIL88A-on-MIL88B (1:1) hybrid displayed the best activity, there is a slight difference in the photocatalytic performance of the other mass ratios studied. The result revealed that after 70 min of forming MIL88A on MIL88B, the best pollutant removal performance is obtained. During the limited synthesis time, the lopsided growth of MIL88A on the MIL88B surface limits the formation of sufficient functional groups and new pores between MIL88B as the substrate and MIL88A, which are effective and decisive in the performance. In the photocatalytic studies, the synthesized composite had good compatibility with the zero-order kinetics, and hydroxyl radicals were recognized as the most active species in the photocatalytic reaction. In the adsorption process, the MIL88A-on-MIL88A composite followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Langmuir isotherm. Besides, mechanisms such as π-π interaction/stacking, hydrogen bonding, and π-metal interaction were proposed for the pollutant adsorption process.

Abstract
By using the method of low-temperature crystallization, CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) coated with trifluoroacetyl lysine (Tfa-Lys) and oleamine (Olam) were synthesized in aqueous solution. The structure of the CsPbBr3 PNCs was characterized by many methods, such as ultraviolet (UV)-visible absorption spectrophotometer, fluorescence spectrophotometer, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern. The fluorescence emission of the CsPbBr3 PNCs is stable in water for about 1 day at room temperature. It was also found that the fluorescence of the PNCs could be obviously and selectively quenched after the addition of mercury ion (Hg2+ ), allowing a visual detection of Hg2+ by the naked eye under UV light illumination. The fluorescence quenching rate (I0 /I) has a good linear relationship with the addition of Hg2+ in the concentration range 0.075 to 1.5 mg/L, with a correlation coefficient (R2 ) of 0.997, and limit of detection of 0.046 mg/L. The fluorescence quenching mechanism of the PNCs was determined by the fluorescence lifetime and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) of the PNCs. Overall, the synthesis method for CsPbBr3 PNCs is simple and rapid, and the as-prepared PNCs are stable in water that could be conveniently used for selective detection of Hg2+ in the water environment.

Abstract
A Fe/Zr bimetal-organic framework (ZrFe-MOF) is utilized to establish a ratiometric fluorescent aptasensor for the determination of tetrodotoxin (TTX). The multifunctional ZrFe-MOF possesses inherent fluorescence at 445 nm wavelength, peroxidase-mimetic activity, and specific recognition and adsorption capabilities for aptamers, owing to its organic ligand, and Fe and Zr nodes. The peroxidation of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) substrate generates fluorescent 2,3-diaminophenazine (OPDox) at 555 nm wavelength, thus quenching the inherent fluorescence of ZrFe-MOF because of the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect. TTX aptamers, which are absorbed on the material surface without immobilization or fluorescent labeling, inhibit the peroxidase-mimetic activity of ZrFe-MOF. It causes the decreased OPDox fluorescence at 555 nm wavelength and the inverse restoration of ZrFe-MOF fluorescence at 445 nm wavelength. With TTX, the aptamers specifically bind to TTX, triggering rigid complex release from ZrFe-MOF surface and reactivating its peroxidase-mimetic activity. Consequently, the two fluorescence signals exhibit opposite changes. Employing this ratiometric strategy, the determination of TTX is achieved with a detection limit of 0.027 ng/mL and a linear range of 0.05-500 ng/mL. This aptasensor also successfully determines TTX concentrations in puffer fish and clam samples, demonstrating its promising application for monitoring trace TTX in food safety.

Abstract
Heavy metal ions (HMIs) have become a significant contaminant in recent years. The increase in heavy metal pollution is a serious situation, requiring progressively robust, fast sensing, highly sensitive, and suitable techniques for heavy metal detection. Compared to other classical analytical methods, electroanalytical techniques, especially stripping voltammetric techniques with modified screen-printed electrodes (SPEs), have several advantages, such as fast sensing, great sensitivity, specificity, and long-time stability. Therefore, these techniques are more suitable for HMI detection. In this review, the nanostructured materials used to coat SPEs for the electrochemical determination of HMI are summarized. Additionally, the electrode fabrication method, modification steps, and electroanalytical study of these materials are systematically discussed. Hence, this review will support the researchers in precisely evaluating the electrochemical HMIs detection through highly sensitive stripping voltammetric techniques using SPE modified with nanostructured carbon and their allotropes, metal, metal oxides and their nanocomposites as sensor materials. Moreover, modified electrodes real time detection of HMIs in different food and environmental samples were briefly discussed.

Abstract
In the past few years, metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have been assembled with (bio)polymers and a series of carbon-based materials (graphene, graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes, carbon quantum dots, etc.) leading to a wide range of composites differing in their chemical composition, pore structure and functionality. The objective was mainly to overcome the limitations of MOFs in terms of mechanical properties, chemical stability and processability while imparting novel functionality (electron conductivity, (photo)catalytic activity, etc.) and hierarchical porosity. These composites were considered for numerous applications including gas/liquid adsorption and separation, (photo)catalysis, biomedicine, energy storage, conversion and so on. The performance of such composites depends strongly on their microstructural and physico-chemical properties which are mainly driven by the chemical strategies used to design and process such composites. In this perspective article, we propose to cover this topic and provide a useful survey of recent progress in the synthesis and design of MOFs-carbon material composites. This article will describe the development of composites with increasing complexity in terms of porous architecture, spatial structuration and organisation, and functionality.

Abstract
With the popularization of the Internet of Things, the application of chemical sensors has become more and more extensive. However, it is difficult for a single functional sensor to meet multiple needs at the same time. For the next generation of chemical sensors, in addition to rapid qualitative and quantitative detection, it is also necessary to solve the problem of a distributed sensor power supply. Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) are two emerging technologies that can be used for chemical testing. The combination of TENG and SERS technology is proposed to be an attractive research strategy to implement qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as self-powered detection in one device. Herein, the Ag nanoparticle (NP)@polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) plasmonic cavity is demonstrated, which can be exploited not only as a SERS substrate for qualitative analysis of the target molecules but also as a TENG based self-powered chemical sensor for rapid quantitative analysis. More importantly, the as-designed plasmonic cavity enables prolonged triboelectric field generated by the phenomena of triboelectricity, which in turn enhances the "hot spot" intensities from Ag NPs in the cavity and boosts the SERS signals. In this way, the device can have good feasibility and versatility for chemical detection. Specifically, the measurement of the concentration of many analytes can be successfully realized, including ions and small molecules. The results verify that the proposed sensor system has the potential for self-powered chemical sensors for environmental monitoring and analytical chemistry.

Abstract
The term "covalent organic framework" (COF) refers to a class of porous organic polymeric materials made from organic building blocks that have been covalently bonded. The preplanned and predetermined bonding of the monomer linkers allow them to demonstrate directional flexibility in two- or three-dimensional spaces. COFs are modern materials, and the discovery of new synthesis and linking techniques has made it possible to prepare them with a variety of favorable features and use them in a range of applications. Additionally, they can be post-synthetically altered or transformed into other materials of particular interest to produce compounds with enhanced chemical and physical properties. Because of its tunability in different chemical and physical states, post-synthetic modifications, high stability, functionality, high porosity and ordered geometry, COFs are regarded as one of the most promising materials for catalysis and environmental applications. This study highlights the basic advancements in establishing the stable COFs structures and various post-synthetic modification approaches. Further, the photocatalytic applications, such as organic transformations, degradation of emerging pollutants and removal of heavy metals, production of hydrogen and Conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2 ) to useful products have also been presented. Finally, the future research directions and probable outcomes have also been summarized, by focusing their promises for specialists in a variety of research fields.

Abstract
Tethered ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(η6:κ1-arene:N)Cl2] (where arene:N is 2-aminobiphenyl (1) and 2-benzylpyridine (2)) can convert into their open-tethered chlorido counterparts [Ru(η6-arene:NH)Cl3], 1·HCl and 2·HCl, at room temperature via solid-state reaction in the presence of HCl vapors. The reaction is accompanied by a change in color, is fully reversible, and crystallinity is maintained in both molecular materials. Organoruthenium tethers are presented as nonporous materials capable of capturing and releasing HCl reversibly in the crystalline solid state.

Abstract
Water bodies are being polluted rapidly by disposal of toxic chemicals with their huge entrance into drinking water supply chain. Among these pollutants, heavy metal ions (HMIs) are the most challenging one due to their non-biodegradability, toxicity, and ability to biologically hoard in ecological systems, thus posing a foremost danger to human health. This can be addressed by robust, sensitive, selective, and reliable sensing of metal ions which can be achieved by Metal organic frameworks (MOF) based electrochemical sensors. In the present era, MOFs have caught greater interest in a variety of applications including sensing of hazardous pollutants such as heavy metal ions. So, in this review article, types, synthesis and working mechanism of MOF based sensors is explained to give general overview with updated literature. First time, detailed study is done for sensing of metal ions such as chromium, mercury, zinc, copper, manganese, palladium, lead, iron, cadmium and lanthanide by MOFs based electrochemical sensors. The use of MOFs as electrochemical sensors has attractive success story along with some challenges of the area. Considering these challenges, we attempted to highlight the milestone achieved and shortcomings along with future prospective of the MOFs for employing it in electrochemical sensing devices for HMIs. Finally, challenges and future prospects have been discussed to promote the development of MOFs-based sensors in future.

Abstract
Biomarkers are essential in biology, physiology, and pharmacology; thus, their detection is of extensive importance. Fluorescent probes provide effective tools for detecting biomarkers exactly. Excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), one of the significant photophysical processes that possesses specific photoisomerization between Keto and Enol forms, can effectively avoid annoying interference from the background with a large Stokes shift. Hence, ESIPT is an excellent choice for biomarker monitoring. Based on the ESIPT process, abundant probes were designed and synthesized using three major design methods. In this review, we conclude probes for 14 kinds of biomarkers based on ESIPT explored in the past five years, summarize these general design methods, and highlight their application for biomarker detection in vitro or in vivo.

Abstract
Food contamination and spoilage is a worldwide concern considering its adverse effect on public health and food security. Real time monitoring food quality can reduce the risk of foodborne disease to consumers. Particularly, the emergence of multi-emitter luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) as ratiometric sensory materials has provided the possibility for food quality and safety detection with high sensitivity and selectivity taking advantage of specific host-guest interactions, pre-concentrating and molecule-sieving effects of MOFs. Furthermore, the excellent sensing performance of multi-emitter MOF-based ratiometric sensors including self-calibration, multi-dimensional recognition and visual signal readout is able to meet the increasing rigor requirement of food safety evaluation. Multi-emitter MOF-based ratiometric sensors have become the focus of food safety detection. This review focuses on design strategies for different multiple emission sources assembly to construct multi-emitter MOFs materials based on at least two emitting centers. The design strategies for creating multi-emitter MOFs can be mainly classified into three categories: (1) multiple emission building blocks assembly in a single MOF phase; (2) single non-luminescent MOF or LMOF phase as a matrix for chromophore guest(s); (3) heterostructured hybrids of LMOF with other luminescent materials. In addition, the sensing signal output modes of multi-emitter MOF-based ratiometric sensors have critically discussed. Next, we highlight the recent progress for the development of multi-emitter MOF as ratiometric sensors in food contamination and spoilage detection. Their future improvement and advancing direction potential for their practical application is finally discussed.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are extensively recognized for their wide applications in a variety of fields such as water purification, adsorption, sensing, catalysis and drug delivery. The fundamental characteristics of the majority of MOFs, such as their structure and shape, are known to be sensitively impacted by water or moisture. As a result, a thorough evaluation of the stability of MOFs in respect to factors linked to these property changes is required. It is quite rare for MOFs in their early stages to have strong water-stability, which is necessary for the commercialization and development of wider applications of this interesting material. Also, numerous applications in presence of water have progressed considerably as a "proof of concept" stage in the past and a growing number of water-stable MOFs (WSMOFs) have been discovered in recent years. This review discusses the variables and processes that affect the aqueous stability of several MOFs, including imidazolate and carboxylate frameworks. Accordingly, this article will assist researchers in accurately evaluating how water affects the stability of MOFs so that effective techniques can be identified for the advancement of water-stable metal-organic frameworks (WSMOFs) and for their effective applications toward a variety of fields.

Abstract
Simple, fast, and sensitive detection of trace water in organic solvents is an urgent requirement for chemical industries. Herein, combining the unusual excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism with the effective strategy of pore space partition, for the first time, we construct a powerful fluorescent metal-organic framework (SNNU-301) probe with excellent water stability. The SNNU-301 probe shows a remarkable performance for turn-on ESIPT-based fluorescence response to water in nine common organic solvents, exhibiting wide linear ranges, low limit of detection values, and ultrafast response, especially in dimethyl sulfoxide (0-5.2%; 0.011%, v/v; 110 s). The typical ESIPT-sensitive linker 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalate (DHBDC) imparts it with discriminative detection properties via enol-keto tautomerism, and light-responsive triangular tri(pyridin-4-yl)-amine (TPA) realizes pore space partition. The theoretical calculation gives an in-depth explanation about the proton transfer mechanism. Comparative experiments and GCMC simulation provide evidence that the synergy of the ESIPT process and TPA of the framework further boosts its performance effectively. Definitely, this work not only offers a promising candidate with fast detection speed, high sensitivity, excellent universality, and visual observation for the determination of water in organic solvents but also provides valuable guidance for the design of high-performance fluorescent probes.

Abstract
The raising apprehension of volatile organic compound (VOC) exposures urges the exploration of advanced monitoring platforms. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) provide many attractive features including tailorable porosity, high surface areas, good chemical/thermal stability, and various host-guest interactions, making them appealing candidates for VOC capture and sensing. To comprehensively exploit the potential of MOFs as sensing materials, great efforts have been dedicated to the shaping and patterning of MOFs for next-level device integration. Among different types of sensors (chemiresistive sensors, gravimetric sensors, optical sensors, etc.), MOFs coupled with optical sensors feature distinctive strength. This review summarized the latest advancements in MOF-based optical sensors with a particular focus on VOC sensing. The subject is discussed by different mechanisms: colorimetry, luminescence, and sensors based on optical index modulations. Critical analysis for each system highlighting practical aspects was also deliberated.

Abstract
Taking advantage of high porosity, large surface area, tunable nanostructures and ease of functionalization, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been popularly applied in different fields, including adsorption and separation, heterogeneous catalysis, drug delivery, light harvesting, and chemical/biological sensing. The abundant active sites for specific recognition and adjustable optical and electrical characteristics allow for the design of various sensing platforms with MOFs as promising candidates. In this review, we systematically introduce the recent advancements of MOFs-based fluorescent chemosensors and biosensors, mainly focusing on the sensing mechanisms and analytes, including inorganic ions, small organic molecules and biomarkers (e.g., small biomolecules, nucleic acids, proteins, enzymes, and tumor cells). This review may provide valuable references for the development of novel MOFs-based sensing platforms to meet the requirements of environment monitoring and clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
Luminescent metal organic frameworks (LMOFs) are considered to be a type of promising optical sensing material due to their designable and tunable functions, and stable pore structures. Therefore, the preparation of LMOFs has become a research hotspot in recent years. As we know, triazine carboxylic acid ligands are conducive for constructing LMOF materials due to their large π electron conjugated system. In this work, two crystalline materials [Cd3(TCPT)2]·0.5DMF·4H2O (1) and (H3O)[Zn2(TCPT)(μ2-OH)2]·0.5DMF·3H2O (2) were obtained by the reaction of the triazine carboxylic acid ligand 2,4,6-tris(4-carboxyphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (H3TCPT), as an extended carboxylate arm, and d10 transition metal salts. Their structures were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction and characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), ultraviolet visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), fluorescence spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TG). The experimental results showed that complexes 1 and 2 show excellent fluorescent emission behavior. Thus, we explored their fluorescence sensing properties. To our delight, the results showed that they both had the ability to sense small organic drug molecules and aromatic amine molecules containing o-phenylenediamine (OPD), m-phenylenediamine (MPD) and p-phenylenediamine (PPD). In general, the practical applications of a MOF material are usually limited because of the relatively harsh synthesis methods. In this aspect, we studied the synthesis method in detail to obtain the optimal reaction conditions for the large-scale synthesis of 1 and 2. The preparation of the two LMOF materials only required about 3 hours of heating time and they could be prepared on a large scale, which is significant for the practical applications of LMOFs.

Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a promising class of porous crystalline materials made up of covalently connected and periodically protracted network topologies through organic linkers. The tailorability of organic linker and intrinsic structures endow COFs with a tunable porosity and structure, low density, facilely-tailored functionality, and large surface area, attracting increasing amount of interests in variety of research areas of membrane separations. COF-based membranes have spawned a slew of new research projects, ranging from fabrication methodologies to separation applications. Herein, we tried to emphasis the major developments in the synthetic approaches of COFs based membranes for a variety of separation applications such as, separation of gaseous mixtures, water treatment as well as separation of isomeric and chiral organic compounds. The proposed methods for fabricating COF-based continuous membranes and columns for real world applications are also thoroughly explored. Finally, a viewpoint on the future directions and remaining challenges for COF research in the area of separation is provided.

Abstract
Increasing global environmental pollution due to heavy metal ions raises the importance of research on new multifunctional materials for simultaneous detection and removal of these contaminants from water resources. In this study, we report a microporous 8-connected Zr4+ metal-organic framework (MOF) based on a terephthalate ligand decorated with a chelating 2-picolylamine side group (dMOR-2), which shows highly efficient fluorescence sensing and sorption of heavy metal cations. We demonstrate by detailed fluorescence studies the ability of a water-dispersible composite of dMOR-2 with polyvinylpyrrolidone for real-time detection of Cu2+, Pb2+, and Hg2+ in aqueous media. The limits of detection were found to be below 2 ppb for these species, while the system's performance is not affected by the presence of other potentially competitive ions. In addition, sorption studies showed that a composite of dMOR-2 with calcium alginate (dMOR-2@CaA) is an excellent sorbent for Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions with capacities of 376 ± 15 and 117 ± 4 mg per gram of dMOR-2@CaA, respectively, while displaying the capability for simultaneous removal of various heavy metal ions in low initial concentrations and in the presence of large excesses of other cationic species. Structural and spectroscopic studies with model ligands analogous to our material's receptor unit showed chelation to the 2-picolylamine moiety to be the main binding mode of metal ions to dMOR-2. Overall, dMOR-2 is shown to represent a rare example of a MOF, which combines sensitive fluorescence detection and high sorption capacity for heavy metal ions.

Abstract
A new rhodamine 6G-based chemosensor (L3) was synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C, IR and mass spectroscopy studies. It exhibited an excellent selective and sensitive CHEF-based recognition of trivalent metal ions M3+ (M = Fe, Al and Cr) over mono and di-valent and other trivalent metal ions with prominent enhancement in the absorption and fluorescence intensity for Fe3+ (669-fold), Al3+ (653-fold) and Cr3+ (667-fold) upon the addition of 2.6 equivalent of these metal ions in the probe in H2O/CH3CN (7 : 3, v/v, pH 7.2). The corresponding Kd values were evaluated to be 1.94 × 10-5 (Fe3+), 3.15 × 10-5 (Al3+) and 2.26 × 10-5 M (Cr3+). The quantum yields of L3, [L3-Fe3+], [L3-Al3+] and [L3-Cr3+] complexes in H2O/CH3CN (7 : 3, v/v, pH 7.2) were found to be 0.0005, 0.335, 0.327 and 0.333, respectively, using rhodamine-6G as the standard. The LODs for Fe3+, Al3+ and Cr3+ were determined by 3σ methods and found to be 2.57, 0.78 and 0.47 μM, respectively. The cyanide ion snatched Fe3+ from the [Fe3+-L3] complex and quenched its fluorescence via its ring-closed spirolactam form. Advanced level molecular logic devices using different inputs (2 and 4 input) and a memory device were constructed.
