Abstract
Breast cancer, a widespread malignancy affecting women globally, often arises from mutations in estrogen/progesterone receptors. Conventional treatments like surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy face limitations such as low efficacy and adverse effects. However, nanotechnology offers promise with its unique attributes like targeted delivery and controlled drug release. Yet, challenges like poor size distribution and environmental concerns exist. Biogenic nanotechnology, using natural materials or living cells, is gaining traction for its safety and efficacy in cancer treatment. Biogenic nanoparticles synthesized from plant extracts offer a sustainable and eco-friendly approach, demonstrating significant toxicity against breast cancer cells while sparing healthy ones. They surpass traditional drugs, providing benefits like biocompatibility and targeted delivery. Thus, this current review summarizes the available knowledge on breast cancer (its types, stages, histopathology, symptoms, etiology and epidemiology) with the importance of using biogenic nanomaterials as a new and improved therapy. The novelty of this work lies in its comprehensive examination of the challenges and strategies for advancing the industrial utilization of biogenic metal and metal oxide NPs. Additionally; it underscores the potential of plant-mediated synthesis of biogenic NPs as effective therapies for breast cancer, detailing their mechanisms of action, advantages, and areas for further research.

Abstract
Inflammation plays a key role in cancer development. As an important modulator of inflammation, the role of diet should be explored. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between diets with a higher inflammatory potential, as measured by the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII®), and cancer development in a cohort of rural post-menopausal women. Dietary intake from a randomized controlled trial cohort of rural, post-menopausal women in Nebraska was used to compute energy-adjusted DII (E-DIITM) scores at baseline and four years later (visit 9). A linear mixed model analysis and multivariate logistic regression evaluated the association between E-DII scores (baseline, visit 9, change score) and cancer status. Of 1977 eligible participants, those who developed cancer (n = 91, 4.6%) had a significantly larger, pro-inflammatory change in E-DII scores (Non-cancer: Δ 0.19 ± 1.43 vs. Cancer: Δ 0.55 ± 1.43, p = 0.02). After adjustment, odds of cancer development were over 20% higher in those with a larger change (more pro-inflammatory) in E-DII scores than those with smaller E-DII changes (OR = 1.21, 95% CI [1.02, 1.42], p = 0.02). Shifting to a more pro-inflammatory diet pattern over four years was associated with increased odds of cancer development, but not with E-DII at baseline or visit 9 alone.

Abstract
The number of long-term survivors after a cancer diagnosis is increasing. Few investigations have compared survivors' diets to their original pre-diagnosis dietary pattern or with the patterns of cancer-free controls. We examined the dietary changes in survivors for five years (i.e. before to after diagnosis) in cancer survivors, comparing them with cancer-free controls in a prospective cohort study in Japan. Using 1995-1998 for the baseline and 2000-2003 for the follow-up survey, a validated food frequency questionnaire was administered to 33,643 men and 39,549 women aged 45-74 years. During the follow-up period, 886 men and 646 women had developed cancer. Participants that had not been diagnosed with cancer served as controls. There was a greater decrease in the calorie intake (median change: - 168 kcal/d [Interquartile range: - 640, 278]) in male cancer survivors compared to controls (- 33 kcal/d [- 453, 380], P < .001). On comparison with cancer-free controls, multiple linear regression analysis revealed a significantly larger reduction in energy-adjusted ethanol intake for male cancer survivors (β = - 0.36). There was no difference in changes in fruit and vegetable or red meat intake and no other significant differences in dietary changes between survivors and controls for either gender. This suggests that most dietary changes in survivors after cancer diagnosis are not systematically different from those that occur in people without a cancer diagnosis.

Abstract
Simple Summary Although cancer survivors may experience health benefits from favorable lifestyle changes, many cancer survivors do not adhere to lifestyle recommendations or make favorable lifestyle changes after cancer diagnosis. This systematic review of the literature aimed to provide an overview of the scientific literature on sociodemographic, psychological and social determinants that may facilitate or hamper lifestyle change after the diagnosis cancer. It provides a structured overview of the large variety of determinants of changes in different lifestyle behaviors (physical activity, diet, smoking, alcohol, sun protection, and multiple lifestyle behaviors) derived from the 123 included papers (71 quantitative and 52 qualitative). Findings demonstrate the important role of oncology healthcare professionals in promoting healthy lifestyle changes in cancer survivors and inform researchers and healthcare professionals about the methods and strategies they can use to promote healthy lifestyle changes in cancer survivors. Four databases (PubMed, PsychINFO, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Web of Science) were searched for relevant papers up to October 2021. Of the 9586 references yielded by the literature search, 123 papers were included: 71 quantitative and 52 qualitative papers. Findings showed a large variety of determinants influencing lifestyle change after cancer diagnosis, with differences between lifestyle behaviors (physical activity, diet, smoking, alcohol, sun protection, and multiple lifestyle behaviors) and findings from quantitative vs. qualitative studies. Findings demonstrate the important role of oncology healthcare professionals in promoting healthy lifestyle changes in cancer survivors. In addition, findings inform researchers involved in the development of health promotion programs about the methods and strategies they can use to promote healthy lifestyle changes in cancer survivors. Favorable lifestyle changes are expected to have beneficial effects on cancer risk and overall health in cancer survivors.

Abstract
Obesity is a modifiable risk factor of breast cancer and epigenetic marks were proposed as a relevant mechanistic link. These mechanisms can be remodelled by modifying lifestyle factors and this fact could be useful in the treatment of obesity-related breast cancer. This review aimed to reveal the current evidence on the effects of differences in body composition and lifestyle factors on the risk, treatment, and survival of breast cancer with a focus on the effects of weight loss therapies based on different nutrients, bioactive compounds, and Mediterranean and ketogenic diets to counteract obesity-related breast cancer epigenetic marks. This review was framed on the most relevant and recently published articles and abstracts selected in PubMed using key words related to epigenetics, lifestyle, dietary habits, nutrients, bioactive compounds, ketone bodies, and weight loss treatments in obesity and breast cancer. Several studies have demonstrated that lifestyle interventions, including dietary modifications towards a healthy diet pattern, are effective therapies to prevent the onset of breast cancer and to improve the survival after treatment. These therapies reduce the main factors associated with obesity that are links between adiposity and cancer, including oxidative stress, inflammation and epigenetic mechanisms. However, although sufficient evidence exists regarding the effects of nutrients, dietary patterns, and weight loss therapies to prevent breast cancer or to improve survival, the effects of these strategies on the oncological treatment response were less studied. This review summarises the current scientific evidence regarding these nutritional strategies as adjuvant therapies in the management of obesity-related breast cancer by remodelling epigenetic marks related to carcinogenesis.

BACKGROUND Adherence to dietary recommendations has been shown to be associated with reduced mortality in healthy populations. Little is known about the possible benefits of adherence to dietary recommendations among breast cancer survivors. METHODS Dietary information was collected using food frequency questionnaires at the 5-year postdiagnosis survey in 3,450 5-year breast cancer survivors from the Shanghai Breast Cancer Survival Study. Adherence scores to Chinese Food Pagoda (CHFP)-2007, CHFP-2016, modified Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH), and Healthy Eating Index 2015 (HEI-2015) were created. Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for total mortality and breast cancer-specific events according to adherence scores. RESULTS Participants in the highest quartiles of CHFP-2007, CHFP-2016, and DASH had 25% to 34% lower risk of total mortality (HR, 0.66; 95% CI, 0.48-0.89 for CHFP-2007; HR, 0.75; 95% CI, 0.55-1.01 for CHFP-2016; HR, 0.66; 95% CI, 0.49-0.91 for DASH), and 36% to 40% lower risk of breast cancer-specific events (HR, 0.64; 95% CI, 0.44-0.93 for CHFP-2007; HR, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.45-0.99 for CHFP-2016; HR, 0.60; 95% CI, 0.40-0.90 for DASH) comparing with the lowest quartiles. Associations did not vary by known prognostic factors. HEI-2015 scores were not significantly associated with breast cancer outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Higher adherence to CHFP and DASH dietary guidelines post-cancer diagnosis was associated with reduced risk of both overall death and breast cancer-specific recurrence or death among long-term breast cancer survivors. IMPACT Our study highlights the importance of overall dietary quality among long-term breast cancer survivors.

BACKGROUND To our knowledge, there is no international publication on risk factors of breast cancer among Kurdish women. There are several risk factors of breast cancer may differ in different geographical cultures. The aims of this study are to assess the established and probable risk factors of breast cancer among Iraqi Kurdish women as well as to investigate the effect of some Mediterranean food items on this issue. MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective case-control study was constructed in Sulaimanyah governorate-Iraq. Data were collected regarding socio-demographic characters, established risk factors, and dietary habits of 338 cases that were registered in Sulaimanyah Breast Center during January 2015-February 2019 with collection of same items for 338 age-matched controls. RESULTS The marriage was appeared to be a protective factor with (OR = 0.596, CI: 0.364-0.974, P = 0.039). Age at menarche ≥14 years has a protective effect with (OR: 0.326, P = 0.027) and 152 cases (45.0%) had menarche at ≤12 years compared to 56 controls (16.6%) with (P = 0.000). Numbers of children ≥ 3, regular exercise, and breastfeeding for >48 months duration have protective role. Consumption of fast foods and some Mediterranean foods weekly >2 times are risk factors, while taking stewed meat weekly one time, fish weekly ≥1 time, fruit daily>1 time and vegetables daily≥1 time, and black tea daily >3 cups have preventative effect on breast cancer. CONCLUSION Among Kurdish women, some items of Mediterranean food have the same causative effect as fast food items. Marriages, consumption of stewed meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, and black tea may have preventative effect.

Abstract
PURPOSE Adjuvant endocrine therapy (ET) in breast cancer reduces recurrence risk and increases overall survival. The aim of the study was to quantify non-adherence and discontinuation to ET in postmenopausal women with breast cancer, and identify possible clinical or social risk factors. METHODS Women with hormone-receptor positive breast cancer (N = 138), mean age 58 (SD 9.3) years, filled in 4 questionnaires within 1-12, 24, 36 and 48-60 months after surgery; Subjective Health Complaints Inventory (SHC), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Social Support Subscale (FACT-ES), and Quality of Patient Information Questionnaire (QPI).
Adherence to Tamoxifen (Tam) or Aromatase Inhibitors (AI) was examined using self-reported adherence and data from the Norwegian Prescription Database (NorPD) [corrected]. Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazards regression models estimated adherence to ET. RESULTS The estimate of discontinued ET within 60 months was 38%. Self-reported discontinuation was 7% compared with 25% from the NorPD. Being overweight or obese were significantly time dependent factors predictive for discontinuing ET, p = 0.025. CONCLUSION Closer follow-ups, tailor-made information about the proven benefits of ET, and keeping a normal body mass index (BMI) may improve adherence to ET in postmenopausal women with breast cancer.
