Abstract
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomers with high mechanical and healing properties are developed as smart materials for electrical power systems and electronic devices to address electrical or mechanical damage. However, the challenge is to reconcile the conflicting molecular mechanisms of mechanical and healing properties in the development of PDMS elastomers. This study adopts the "rigid-while-flexible" mutual network structure by copolymerizing the rigid polyimide (PI) with flexible segments with dynamic reversible crosslinking designed on the PDMS backbones. This elastomer (designated PSiPI) exhibits high toughness, tensile strength and elongation at break, as well as excellent healing efficiency and recyclability. Moreover, the PSiPI elastomer also exhibits good insulation and corona damage healing properties. Taking advantage of the recyclability and healing properties of PSiPI elastomers, healable superhydrophobic coatings with contact angles greater than 150° have been prepared by compositing PSiPI elastomers with SiO2. Likewise, combining the elastomer with conductive materials can create a healing flexible conductor. This "rigid-while-flexible" design approach provides important inspiration for the development of high-performance, sustainable and environmentally friendly PDMS elastomers for electrical and electronic applications.

Abstract
Transparent polysiloxane elastomers with good self-healing and reprocessing abilities have attracted significant attention in the field of artificial skin and flexible displays. Herein, we propose a simple one-pot method to fabricate a room temperature self-healable polysiloxane elastomer (HPDMS) by introducing dynamic and reversible imine bonds and boroxine into polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) networks. The presence of imine bonds and boroxine is proved by FT-IR and NMR spectra. The obtained HPDMS elastomer is highly transparent with a transmittance of up to 80%. The TGA results demonstrated that the HPDMS elastomer has good heat resistance and can be used in a wide temperature range. A lower glass transition temperature (Tg, -127.4 °C) was obtained and revealed that the elastomer is highly flexible at room temperature. Because of the reformation of dynamic reversible imine bonds and boroxine, the HPDMS elastomers exhibited excellent autonomous self-healing properties. After healing for 3 h, the self-healing efficiency of HPDMS reached 96.3% at room temperature. Moreover, the elastomers can be repeatedly reprocessed multiple times under milder conditions. This work provides a simple but effective method to prepare transparent self-healable and reprocessable polysiloxane elastomers.

Abstract
When exposed to the geostationary orbit, polymeric materials tend to degrade on their surface due to the appearance of cracks. Implementing the self-healing concept in polymers going to space is a new approach to enhancing the lifespan of materials that cannot be replaced once launched. In this study, the elaboration of autonomous self-healing transparent poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) materials resistant to proton particles is presented. The PDMS materials are functionalized with various compositions of urea and imine moieties, forming dynamic covalent and/or supramolecular networks. The hydrogen bonds induced by the urea ensure the formation of a supramolecular network, while the dynamic covalent imine bonds are capable of undergoing exchange reactions. Materials with a broad range of mechanical properties were obtained depending on the composition and structure of the PDMS networks. As coating applications in a spatial environment were mainly targeted, the surface properties of the polymer are essential. Thus, percentages of scratch recovery were determined by AFM. From these data, self-healing kinetics were extracted and rationalized based on the polymer structures. The obtained data were in good agreement with the relaxation times determined by rheology in stress relaxation experiments. Moreover, the accelerated aging of materials under proton irradiation, simulating a major part of the geostationary environment, revealed a strong limitation or disappearance of cracks while keeping the transparency of the PDMS. These promising results open routes to prepare new flexible autonomous polymeric materials for space applications.

Abstract
Self-healing silicones that are able to restore functionalities and extend the lifetime of soft devices hold great potential in many applications. However, currently available silicones need to be triggered to self-heal or suffer from creep-induced irreversible deformation during use. Here, a platform is proposed to design and print silicone objects that are programmed at the molecular and architecture levels to achieve self-healing at room temperature while simultaneously resisting creep. At the molecular scale, dioxaborolanes moieties are incorporated into silicones to synthesize self-healing vitrimers, whereas conventional covalent bonds are exploited to make creep-resistant elastomers. When combined into architectured printed parts at a coarser length scale, the layered materials exhibit fast healing at room temperature without compromising the elastic recovery obtained from covalent polymer networks. A patient-specific vascular phantom and fluidic chambers are printed to demonstrate the potential of architectured silicones in creating damage-resilient functional devices using molecularly designed elastomer materials.

Abstract
Elastomers are widely used in traditional industries and new intelligent fields. However, they are inevitably damaged by electricity, heat, force, etc. during the working process. With the continuous improvement of reliability and environmental protection requirements in human production and living, it is vital to develop elastomer materials with good mechanical properties that are not easily damaged and can self-heal after being damaged. Nevertheless, there are often contradictions between mechanical properties and self-healing as well as toughness, strength, and ductility. Herein, a strong and dynamic decuple hydrogen bonding based on carbon hydrazide (CHZ) is reported, accompanied with soft polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) chains to prepare self-healing (efficiency 98.7%), recyclable, and robust elastomers (CHZ-PDMS). The strategy of decuple hydrogen bonding will significantly impact the study of the mechanical properties of elastomers. High stretchability (1731%) and a high toughness of 23.31 MJ m-3 are achieved due to the phase-separated structure and energy dissipation. The recyclability of CHZ-PDMS further supports the concept of environmental protection. The application of CHZ-PDMS as a flexible strain sensor exhibited high sensitivity.

Abstract
To discover new materials, high-throughput screening (HTS) with machine learning (ML) requires universally available descriptors that can accurately predict the desired properties. For elastomers, experimental and simulation data in current descriptors may not be available for all candidates of interest, hindering elastomer discovery through HTS. To address this challenge, we introduce structure-based multilevel (SM) descriptors of elastomers derived solely from molecular structure that is universally available. Our SM descriptors are hierarchically organized to capture both local soft and hard segment structures as well as the global structures of elastomers. With the SM-Morgan Fingerprint (SM-MF) descriptor, one of our SM descriptors, a machine learning model accurately predicts elastomer toughness with a remarkable accuracy of 0.91. Furthermore, an HTS pipeline is established to swiftly screen elastomers with targeted toughness. We also demonstrate the generality and applicability of SM descriptors by using them to construct HTS pipelines for screening elastomers with a targeted critical strain or Young's modulus. The user-friendliness and low computational cost of SM descriptors make them a promising tool to significantly enhance HTS in the search for novel materials.

Abstract
To meet more application requirements, improving mechanical properties and self-healing efficiency has become the focus of current research on self-healing PU. The competitive relationship between self-healing ability and mechanical properties cannot be avoided by a single self-healing method. To address this problem, a growing number of studies have combined dynamic covalent bonding with other self-healing methods to construct the PU structure. This review summarizes recent studies on PU materials that combine typical dynamic covalent bonds with other self-healing methods. It mainly includes four parts: hydrogen bonding, metal coordination bonding, nanofillers combined with dynamic covalent bonding and multiple dynamic covalent bond bonding. The advantages and disadvantages of different self-healing methods and their significant role in improving self-healing ability and mechanical properties in PU networks are analyzed. At the same time, the possible challenges and research directions of self-healing PU materials in the future are discussed.

Abstract
Self-healing materials open new prospects for more sustainable technologies with improved material performance and devices' longevity. We present an overview of the recent developments in the field of intrinsically self-healing polymers, the broad class of materials based mostly on polymers with dynamic covalent and noncovalent bonds. We describe the current models of self-healing mechanisms and discuss several examples of systems with different types of dynamic bonds, from various hydrogen bonds to dynamic covalent bonds. The recent advances indicate that the most intriguing results are obtained on the systems that have combined different types of dynamic bonds. These materials demonstrate high toughness along with a relatively fast self-healing rate. There is a clear trade-off relationship between the rate of self-healing and mechanical modulus of the materials, and we propose design principles of polymers toward surpassing this trade-off. We also discuss various applications of intrinsically self-healing polymers in different technologies and summarize the current challenges in the field. This review intends to provide guidance for the design of intrinsic self-healing polymers with required properties.

Abstract
Self-healable and stretchable elastomeric material is essential for the development of flexible electronics devices to ensure their stable performance. In this study, a strain sensor (PIH2 T1 -tri/CNT-3) composed of self-repairable crosslinked elastomer substrate (PIH2 T1 -tri, containing multiple reversible repairing sites such as disulfide, imine, and hydrogen bonds) and conductive layer (carbon nanotube, CNT) was prepared. The PIH2 T1 -tri elastomer had excellent self-healing ability (healing efficiency=91 %). It exhibited good mechanical integrity in terms of elongation at break (672 %), tensile strength (1.41 MPa). The Young's modulus (0.39 MPa) was close to that of human skin. The PIH2 T1 -tri/CNT-3 sensor also demonstrated an effective self-healing function for electrical conduction and sensing property. Meanwhile, it had high sensitivity (gauge factor (GF)=24.1), short response time (120 ms), and long-term durability (4000 cycles). This study offers a novel self-healable elastomer platform with carbon based conductive components to develop flexible strain sensors towards high performance soft electronics.

Abstract
With the rapid development of flexible electronics and the increasing deterioration of the natural environment, functional and environmentally friendly flexible strain sensors have become one of the frontier research hotspots. Here, we propose a novel strategy to synthesize a functional epoxy elastomer integrating self-healing capability and degradability for flexible stretchable strain sensors. A carboxyl-terminated epoxy prepolymer was first synthesized using carboxyl-terminated PEG (PEG-COOH), 2,2'-dithiodibenzoic acid (DTSA), and 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE), and then crosslinked by epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) to yield an epoxy elastomer. The obtained elastomer exhibited not only high tensile stress (5.07 MPa), large stretchability (477%), and high healing efficiency (92.5%) but also superior degradability in alkaline aqueous solution. The elastomer-based stretchable strain sensor with microstructure showed high sensitivity (GF = 176.71) and was successfully applied for detecting human motions and recognizing objects with various shapes. Moreover, the healed sensor could restore stable sensing ability. The prepared functional epoxy elastomer is of great significance for the preparation of environmentally friendly and high-performance sensors and is promising for applications in the fields of healthcare monitoring, intelligent robots, and wearable electronics.

Abstract
Sensors are devices that can capture changes in environmental parameters and convert them into electrical signals to output, which are widely used in all aspects of life. Flexible sensors, sensors made of flexible materials, not only overcome the limitations of the environment on detection devices but also expand the application of sensors in human health and biomedicine. Conductivity and flexibility are the most important parameters for flexible sensors, and hydrogels are currently considered to be an ideal matrix material due to their excellent flexibility and biocompatibility. In particular, compared with flexible sensors based on elastomers with a high modulus, the hydrogel sensor has better stretchability and can be tightly attached to the surface of objects. However, for hydrogel sensors, a poor mechanical lifetime is always an issue. To address this challenge, a self-healing hydrogel has been proposed. Currently, a large number of studies on the self-healing property have been performed, and numerous exciting results have been obtained, but there are few detailed reviews focusing on the self-healing mechanism and conductivity of hydrogel flexible sensors. This paper presents an overview of self-healing hydrogel flexible sensors, focusing on their self-healing mechanism and conductivity. Moreover, the advantages and disadvantages of different types of sensors have been summarized and discussed. Finally, the key issues and challenges for self-healing flexible sensors are also identified and discussed along with recommendations for the future.

Abstract
The construction of silicone elastomers crosslinked by a natural crosslinker under a catalyst-free method is highly desirable. Herein we present catalyst-free silicone elastomers (SEs) by simply introducing tannic acid (TA) as a natural crosslinker when using poly (aminopropylmethylsiloxane-co-dimethylsiloxane) (PAPMS) as the base polymer. The crosslinked bonding of these SEs can be easily changed from hydrogen bonding to covalent bonding by altering the curing reaction from room temperature to heating condition. The formability and mechanical properties of the SEs can be tuned by altering various factors, including processing technique, the amount of TA and aminopropyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane, the molecular weight and -NH2 content of PAPMS, and the amount of reinforcing filler. The hydrogen bonding was proved by the reversible crosslinking of the elastomers, which can be gradually dissolved in tetrahydrofuran and re-formed after removing the solvent. The covalent bonding was proved by a model reaction of catechol and n-decylamine and occurred through a combination of hydroxylamine reaction and Michael addition reaction. These elastomers exhibit good thermal stability and excellent hydrophobic property and can bond iron sheets to hold the weight of 500 g, indicating their promising as adhesives. These results reveal that TA as a natural product is a suitable “green” crosslinker for the construction of catalyst-free silicone elastomers by a simple crosslinking strategy. Under this strategy, TA and more natural polyphenols could be certainly utilized as crosslinkers to fabricate more organic elastomers by selecting amine-containing polymers and further explore their extensive applications in adhesives, sealants, insulators, sensors, and so forth.

Abstract
A 3D porous sponge based on amino-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and graphene oxide (GO) was prepared using a simple one-pot method under mild conditions. Condensing agents combined GO and PDMS with covalent bonds, and simultaneously acted as the pore-foaming agents. Scanning electron microscopy and Mercury intrusion porosimetry revealed that the joint action of GO and condensing agents contributes to the formation of the porous structure. Cyclic compression demonstrated high toughness and elasticity. No deformation occurs after 20 compression cycles at over 80% strain, owing to the assistance of dynamic hydrogen bonds. GO content significantly influences the mechanical strength, hydrophobicity, as well as adsorption capacity for oil. Notably, the sponge can be repeatedly used with a simple squeezing method, and the adsorption capacity can still reach 96.30% of the first adsorption after 30 cycles of adsorption. Besides, the sponge was used to adsorb oil on the seawater surface experimentally. The stable structure, high mechanical strength, and excellent adsorption property suggest the sponge be a promising material for the treatment of oil leakage and oily wastewater purification in practice. This self-foaming method can be a common method for fabricating porous and stable porous materials.

Abstract
Self-healing conductive elastomers have been widely used in smart electronic devices, such as wearable sensors. However, nano fillers hinder the flow of polymer segments, which make the development of conductive elastomer with rapid repair and high ductility a challenge. In this work, thioctic acid (TA) was grafted onto amino-modified polysiloxane (PDMS-NH2) by dehydration condensation of amino group and carboxyl group. By introducing gold nanoparticles, a dynamic network based on S-Au interaction was constructed. The dynamic gold cross-linking could effectively dissipate the energy exerted by external force and improve the extensibility of conductive elastomer. In addition, S-Au interaction had a good optothermal effect, so that the elastomer rapidly healed under NIR irradiation, and the repair efficiency reached 92%. We further evaluated the performance of the conductive elastomer as a strain sensor. The sample could accurately monitor the bending of human joints and small muscle state changes. This kind of self-healable conductive elastomer based on dynamic S-Au interaction has great potential in the fields of interpersonal interaction and health monitoring.

Abstract
Self-healing efficiency and mechanical strength are always a pair of mechanical contradictions of a polymer. Herein, a series of novel mussel-inspired modified graphene oxide/polyurethane composites were successfully fabricated via rational molecular design and introducing hyperbranched polymer-modified graphene oxide. The composites exhibit outstanding self-healing performances with a self-healing efficiency of 87.9%. Especially, their self-healing properties possess exceptional water-insensitivity, which presents a high self-healing efficiency of 92.5% under 60 °C water for 2 h and 74.6% under 25 °C water for 6 h. Furthermore, the tensile strength of the composites increased by 107.7% with a high strain of 2170%. In addition, the composites show a remarkable recovery capability of 76.3% and 83.7% under tensile and compression loading, respectively, after 20 cycles. This strategy shows prominent application potential in high-performance solid propellants, protective coating, electronic skin, soft sensors and other water-insensitive devices. We successfully modified graphene oxide with amino-terminated hyperbranched polyamide(MGO), and obtained novel mussel-inspired MGO/polyurethane composites with outstanding self-healing and mechanical performances via rational molecular design.![]()

Abstract
Although lots of methods have been developed for self-healing materials, it remains a formidable challenge to achieve a thermosetting material with water-insensitive and self-healing properties at room temperature. Nature always provides intelligent strategies for developing advanced materials with superior properties. Herein, a novel self-healable polyurea-urethane was rationally designed by combining mussel adhesive protein-mimetic structure and dynamic aromatic disulfide bonds. It achieves high self-healing efficiency of 98.4% at room temperature for only 6 h and 90% at 60℃ for only 30 min without any external stimuli. Impressively, this self-healing capability possesses exceptional water-resistance, which presents high self-healing efficiency of 98.1% for 2 h and 82.1% for 6 h in 60℃ and 25℃ water, respectively. Besides, the designed polyurea-urethane exhibits excellent mechanical properties such as high elongation at break of 2400%, notch-insensitive stretching elongation of 1500% and notable recovery capability. This strategy shows promising application potential in solid propellants, protective coating, electronic skin, soft sensors and other water-resistant devices.

Abstract
Flexible sensing materials have attracted tremendous attention in recent years because of their potential applications in the fields of health monitoring, artificial intelligence, and so on. However, the preparation of rate sensing materials with self-healing performance is always a huge challenge. Herein, we first report the design and synthesis of a highly stretchable, recyclable, self-healing polysiloxane elastomer with rate sensing capability. The elastomer is composed of a dynamic dual network with boron/oxygen dative bonds and hydrogen bonds, which overcomes the structural instability of conventional solid-liquid materials. It exhibits certain adhesion, satisfactory mechanical robustness, and superior elongation at break (up to 1171%). After heating treatment at 80 °C for 2-4 h, the mechanical properties of damaged materials can be almost completely restored. Because of the "solid-liquid" property of the elastomer, it has irreplaceable functions which can sense different rates by resistance change after blending with multiwalled carbon nanotubes, principally in the range of 10 mm/min-150 mm/min. Especially, this rate sensing elastomer can be personalized by 3D printing at room temperature. This rate sensing strategy coupled with the introduction of dynamic dual-network structure is expected to help design advanced wearable devices for human rhythmic movement.

Abstract
Polyimide-laser-engraved porous graphene (LEPG) are hopeful electrode modification materials for flexible electrochemical sensing based on its high-efficiency preparation and low cost. Herein, a flexible, multi-patterned, and miniaturized electrode was fabricated via a simple and novel direct laser engraving. 3D LEPG with porous network structure can selective decorated with Pt nanoparticles (Pt NPs) by in situ electrochemical depositions (Pt-LEPG) as sensitively H2O2 sensors with a wide range of linear (0.01-29 nM) and high sensitivity (575.75 μA mM-1 cm-2). Subsequently, a glucose biosensor was successfully constructed through immobilized glucose oxidases (GOD) onto Pt-LEPG electrode. New-designed GOD/Pt-LEPG glucose sensor exhibited a noteworthy lower limit of detection (0.3 μM, S/N = 3) and high sensitivity (241.82 μA mM-1 cm-2), as much a wide-range of linear (0.01-31.5 mM) at near-neutral pH conditions, enabling detect glucose in real human serum specimens with satisfactory results. Predictably, these outstanding performance sensors have great potential in terms of flexible and wearable electronics.

Abstract
Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) as a revolutionary system for harvesting mechanical energy have demonstrated high vitality and great advantage, which open up great prospects for their application in various areas of the society of the future. The past few years have seen exponential growth in many new classes of self-healing polymers (SHPs) for TENGs. This review presents and evaluates the SHP range for TENGs, and also attempts to assess the impact of modern polymer chemistry on the development of advanced materials for TENGs. Among the most widely used SHPs for TENGs, the analysis of non-covalent (hydrogen bond, metal-ligand bond), covalent (imine bond, disulfide bond, borate bond) and multiple bond-based SHPs in TENGs has been performed. Particular attention is paid to the use of SHPs with shape memory as components of TENGs. Finally, the problems and prospects for the development of SHPs for TENGs are outlined.
