Abstract
Different concentrations of zirconium with a fixed quantity (4 wt%) of chitosan (CS) doped nickel cobaltite (NiCo2O4) nanorods were synthesized using a co-precipitation approach. This cutting-edge research explores the cooperative effect of Zr-doped CS-NiCo2O4 to degrade the Eriochrome black T (EBT) and investigates potent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Advanced characterization techniques were conducted to analyze structural textures, morphological analysis, and optical characteristics of synthesized materials. XRD pattern unveiled the spinal cubic structure of NiCo2O4, incorporating Zr and CS peak shifted to a lower 2θ value. UV-Vis spectroscopy revealed the absorption range increased with CS and the same trend was observed upon Zr, showing a decrease in bandgap energy (Eg) from 2.55 to 2.4 eV. The optimal photocatalytic efficacy of doped NiCo2O4 within the basic medium was around 96.26 %, and bactericidal efficacy was examined against S. aureus, revealing a remarkable inhibition zone (5.95 mm).

Abstract
The present article explores the synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) utilizing Asterarcys quadricellulare algal extract and examines the effect of various reaction parameters on the size and morphology of the nanoparticles. The samples were thoroughly characterized using XRD, FTIR, UV-vis, FE-SEM, and EDS techniques. The XRD analysis disclosed that the size of the synthesized nanoparticles could be controlled by adjusting the reaction parameters, ranging from 4.76 nm to 13.70 nm along the highest intensity plane (111). FTIR spectroscopy provided evidence that the phytochemicals are present in the algal extract. We have compared the photocatalytic activity of biologically and chemically synthesized CuO NPs and observed that biologically synthesized CuO NPs showed better photocatalytic activity than chemically synthesized CuO NPs. The biosynthesized CuO NPs (S8) demonstrated outstanding photodegradation activity towards four different organic dyes, namely BBY, BG, EBT, and MG, with degradation percentages of 95.78%, 98.02%, 94.15%, and 96.04%, respectively. The maximum degradation efficacy of 98.02% was observed for the BG dye at optimized reaction conditions and 60 min of visible light exposure. The kinetics of the photodegradation reaction followed the pseudo-first-order kinetic model, and the rate constant (k) was calculated using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model for each dye. This study provides an efficient and sustainable approach for synthesizing CuO NPs with superior photocatalytic degradation efficiency towards organic dyes.

Abstract
Increased water pollution due to discharging industrial/urban/hospital wastewater has been adopted to introduce/develop novel removal techniques/catalyst/adsorbent. The hexagonal (wurtzite) CdS and the cubic PbS nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized, coupled, and supported onto clinoptilolite NPs (CNP). Then, the sample was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and a scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (SEM-EDX) techniques. The average crystallite size for CdS NPs, PbS NPs, CNP, and CdS-PbS/CNP samples was obtained at about 24, 36, 27, and 14 nm using the Scherrer formula value of nanometer, by the W-H formula, 31, 17, 39, and 51, respectively. Only a detectable slope can be observed from the DRS spectra for CdS NPs at 591 nm corresponding to an Eg value of 2.1 eV. PbS NPs have a broad abruption peak that begins from the visible region and extends to the IR region of the light. A boosted photocatalytic activity of the supported binary catalysts towards cefotaxime (CT) was reached. An apparent first kinetic model was reached with a k-value of 0.021 min-1 corresponding to the t1/2 value of 33 min. A decreased COD trend for the photodegraded CT solutions was reached, and the chemical oxygen demand (COD) results in the Hinshelwood model showed a k-value of 0.016 min-1, corresponding to a t1/2 value of 43 min.

Abstract
The massive discharge of colored wastewater has seriously harmed the environment and people's health. Photocatalysis technology is an effective method to purify colored wastewater and has been widely concerned in colored wastewater treatment. In this study, based on the obtained nickel oxide (NiO) nanospheres by solvothermal method and graphite phase carbon nitride (g-C3N4) nanosheets by thermal polymerization method, the p-n heterojunction composed of NiO nanospheres and g-C3N4 nanosheets was successfully constructed by heat treatment for the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO). The morphology, crystallinity, surface features, and optical properties of the NiO/g-C3N4 composites were investigated by various characterization methods such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis spectrophotometer, and fluorescence spectrometer (PL), which provided the evidence for the formation of the heterojunction between NiO and g-C3N4. Compared with the g-C3N4 nanosheets and NiO nanospheres, the NiO/g-C3N4 composites showed the improved photocatalytic activity for the degradation of MO under visible light irradiation. And the NiO/g-C3N4 composite with the mole ratio of NiO and g-C3N4 of 2:8 displayed the best photocatalytic activity of MO, and more than 90% of MO can be degraded under the illumination of 100 min. The high photocatalytic properties over the NiO/g-C3N4 composite may be due to high specific surface area, the perfect band matching, and the formation of the p-n heterojunction, which helps to promote interfacial charge transfer and hinder the recombination of photo-generated electrons and holes. Moreover, the NiO/g-C3N4 composite exhibits the universality and cyclic stability, which is expected to have broad application prospects in the treatment of colored wastewater.

Abstract
In recent decades, increased world population and industrial activities explosively polluted our environment, especially the aquatic resources. This requires introducing/developing novel methods to decrease the pollution extent of such resources. Here, the hexagonal (wurtzite) CdS nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized and supported onto ball-mill prepared clinoptilolite NPs (CNP). Samples were briefly characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (SEM-EDX), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) techniques. The average crystallite size for CdS NPs and CdS-CNP samples was estimated to be about 9.0 nm and 12.3 nm (from the Scherrer formula) and about 19.7 and 17.5 nm (from the Williamson-Hall model), respectively. From the DRS spectra, the absorption wavelengths of 595 and 546 nm correspond to band gap energies of 2.08, and 2.27 eV was obtained for CdS NPs and CdS-CNP samples. The samples were then used in the photodegradation of cefotaxime (CT), and the results showed a boosted photocatalytic activity for CdS-CNP rather than CdS NPs. The photodegradation process obeyed the pseudo-first-order kinetic model, and the CdS and CdS-CNP catalysts obtained the k-values of 0.013 min-1 and 0.023 min-1. When the photodegraded CT solutions were used in COD experiments, the k-values changed to 0.011 min-1 and 0.029 min-1, respectively. The zeolite support is an eco-friendly natural zeolite with abundant deposits in Iran that yields a cost-effective method.

Abstract
This study presents a novel photocatalytic system for photocatalytic degradation of Eriochrome black-T (EBT) dye via green light-emitting diode (LED) light exposure. This photocatalyst is comprised of nanoscale components, i.e., poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs), gold NPs (Au NPs), and zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs), rendering an active high surface area. The most highlighted property from the structural facet is the superparamagnetic behavior of Fe3O4 NPs, which provides a facile collection of magnetic photocatalyst NPs from the reaction flask and is successfully recycled eight times without considerable reduction in catalytic behavior. Briefly, the photocatalytic degradation at its highest efficiency reached 51.4% (10 ppm dye solution, 5.0 mL) and 64.75% (8 ppm dye solution, 5.0 mL) utilizing 10 mg of the designed photocatalyst (formulated as Fe3O4@PVA-Au/ZnO), a magnetic photocatalytic system under green LED light (7 W, 526 nm) exposure for 60 min. Besides, the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of the EBT dye by the as-prepared photocatalyst was proposed. Based on the obtained results, the presented photocatalytic method was recommended for scaling up and large-scale exploitation for the purification of the water resources.

Abstract
In this study, plant extract obtained from pods of Millettia pinnata plant species was employed for nanosynthesis of Bi2O3. The as-synthesized semiconductor metal oxide nanoparticles were analyzed using various characterization tools such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), ultra violet-visible (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Zeta potential, Raman, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The characterization results designate the formation of α and β forms of Bi2O3. FESEM images demonstrate rod and flake-like nanostructures ranging from 25 to 70 nm. The green synthesized nanomaterial was found efficient for reduction of 4-nitro phenol (4-NP) and 4-nitro aniline (4-NA). However, it showed better performance toward the reduction of 4-NA. Photocatalytic investigations demonstrated that the green synthesized nanophotocatalyst was capable in degrading Amido Black 10B (AB-10B) dye efficiently under visible light illumination. 98.83% degradation of AB-10B dye was achieved within 120 min of irradiation under optimum conditions of photocatalyst dose and dye concentration. Active species trapping experiments revealed prominent role of superoxide radicals (•O2-) while hydroxyl radicals (•OH) played considerable role in the AB-10B photocatalytic degradation process. Moreover, the photostability and reusability assessment study ascertained good performance of the catalyst after four runs of successive cycles.

Abstract
The synergistic photocatalytic activity was obtained when CdS and BiVO4 nanoparticles (NPs) were coupled. The samples were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX, and UV-DRS techniques, and their pHpzc was also estimated. The crystallite size of the coupled sample was estimated at 37.3 and 12.5 nm by the Scherrer and Williamson-Hall equations, respectively. The band gaps and the potential positions of VB and CB levels of the semiconductors used were determined. The highest boosted photocatalytic activity was obtained when the CdS: BiVO4 mole ratio was 1:1. RSM studied the simultaneous interactions between the selected variables, and the model F-value of 110.61> F0.05, 14, 13 = 2.4 accompanied by the LOF F-value of 5.20 < F0.05, 10, 3 = 8.79 confirm the model significance. The correlation coefficients of R2 = 0.9861, the adjusted R2 = 0.9710, and the predicted R2 = 0.9417, also establish a satisfactory model for processing the experimental data. In the scavenging agent study, photodegradation mechanisms were suggested; among them, the direct Z-scheme mechanism is more favorable for illustrating the EBT-photodegradation by the binary CdS-BiVO4 photocatalyst. The proposed system, especially the direct Z-scheme mechanism, is suitable as a potential hydrogen production system.

Abstract
Due to population growth and industrial development consumption of non-renewable energy sources, and consequently pollution, has increased. In order to reduce energy utilisation and preserve the environment, developed and developing countries are increasingly trying to find solutions based on renewable energy sources. Cost-effective wastewater treatment methods using solar energy would significantly ensure effective water source utilisation, thereby contributing towards sustainable development goals. In this paper, special emphasis is given to the use of solar energy as the driving force of the process, as well as the use of highly active magnetic TiO2-based catalysts. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the possibility of photocatalytic degradation of aqueous magenta graphic dye using titanium dioxide as a catalyst and DSD model in order to achieve the best process optimisation. TiO2 was successfully coated with magnetic nanoparticles by one step process and characterized using different techniques (BET, SEM/EDS, FTIR, XRD). Based on DSD statistical method optimal reaction conditions were pH = 6.5; dye concentration 100 mg/L; TiO2–Fe3O4 0.6 g/L, at which the highest degree of magenta dye decolourisation was achieved (85%). Application of solar energy coupled with magnetic TiO2 catalyst which could be recovered and reused makes this approach a promising alternative in green wastewater treatment.

Abstract
Although photocatalytic technology has emerged as an effective means of alleviating the projected future fuel crisis by converting sunlight directly into chemical energy, no visible-light-driven, low-cost, and highly stable photocatalyst has been developed to date. Due to considerably higher interfacial contact with numerous reactive sites, effective charge transmission and separation ability, and strong redox potentials, the focus has now shifted to 2D/2D heterojunction systems, which have exhibited effective photocatalytic performance. The fundamentals of 2D/2D photocatalysis for different applications and the classification of 2D/2D materials are first explained in this paper, followed by strategies to improve the photocatalytic performance of various 2D/2D heterojunction systems. Following that, current breakthroughs in 2D/2D metal-based and metal-free heterojunction photocatalysts, as well as their applications for H2 evolution via water splitting, CO2 reduction, and N2 fixation, are discussed. Finally, a brief overview of current constraints and predicted results for 2D/2D heterojunction systems is also presented. This paper lays out a strategy for developing efficient 2D/2D heterojunction photocatalysts and sophisticated technology for solar fuel applications in order to address the energy issue.

Abstract
This review article provides the recent progress in semiconductor-based zeolite photoactive materials for the application of noxious contaminants removal. The rapidly expanding industrialization and globalization cause serious threats to the environment or water bodies. The semiconductor@zeolite photocatalysts were implemented for water quality management/sustainment. The exclusive properties of zeolite material have been elaborated with their role in the photocatalysis process. The photoactive material's properties like single-atom catalysts (SACs), distribution of metal in the zeolite crystal were elaborated along with their role in catalytic reactions. Differently prepared semiconductor@zeolite composites such as TiO2@zeolite, binary and ternary composites, Fe/Ag/bismuth-modified/ZnO/ZnS/NiO/g-C3N4/core-shell/quantum dots modified zeolite composites, were systematically summarized. The research progress in morphologies, structural effect, degradation mechanism were recapitulated and tabulated form of % degradation with their optimal parameters such as catalyst dose, pollutant concentrations, pH, light source intensities were also provided. The significance of zeolite frameworks, the structural properties of semiconductor@zeolite photoactive materials to enhance the degradation efficiencies was explored. Analysis of the intermediate products of Norfloxacin, TCDD (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin), TCDF (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran), diclofenac contaminants were systematically represented and structurally identified by GC-MS/HPLC-MS techniques.

Abstract
Dyes and phenols are extensively used chemicals in petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, textile, and paints industries. Due to high persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity, their removal from the environment is highly imperative by advanced techniques. Single metal oxide nanomaterials are generally associated with limitations of large bandgap (> 3eV) and charge recombination. Therefore, heterometallic oxides (HMOs) as CuFe2O4, CuMn2O4, and MnZn2O4 have been synthesized via green route by employing leaf extract of Azadirachta indica. XRD revealed the crystalline nature of HMOs nanospheres with particle size less than 100 nm. Subsequently, HMOs nanocatalysts were used as photocatalyst for removal of 3-amino phenols (3-AP) and eriochrome black T (EBT) from water under sunlight. Reaction parameters namely pollutant concentration (50-130 mgL-1), catalyst dose (20-100 mg), and pH (3-11) were optimized in order to get best results. Substantial degradation (80-95%) of pollutants (50 mgL-1) by HMOs (80 mg) was achieved at neutral pH under sunlight exposure. Highest removal by CuFe2O4 might be due to its high surface area (35.7 m2g-1), low band gap (2.4 eV), larger particle stability (Zeta potential: -22.0 mV), and lower photoluminescence intensity. Sharp declines in curves were visually confirmed by color change and indicated for first-order kinetics of degradation with initial Langmuir adsorption. Spectrophotometric analysis revealed that half-life (t1/2) of 3-AP (0.9-1.7 h) and EBT (0.6-0.8 h) were significantly reduced. Faster degradation of EBT than 3-AP was because of less electronegative N-atom at the diazo group. Scavenger analysis indicated the presence of active radicals in photo-catalytic degradation of 3-AP and EBT. All HMOs have shown high reusability (n=8) which ensures their stability, sustainability, and efficiency. Overall, green synthesized HMOs nanoparticles with prominent surface characteristics offer a viable alternative photocatalyst for industrial applications.

Abstract
The NiO-ZnO nanocomposite (NiO-ZnO NC) was synthesized by ecofriendly process by using Diospyros kaki (D. kaki) extract of leaves as reducing and capping agents. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used for examined crystallinity, cell dimensions, and crystallite size (7.6 nm). To determine the purity of sample and weight percentage, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) is used. The surface morphology was determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). By using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), functional groups in samples were determined. By using diffuse reflectance data (DRS), band gap energy calculated via Tauc plot was 3.23 eV. The photocatalytic activity was checked against brilliant green (BG) and 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and 92.5% and 69.7% of brilliant green (BG) and 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) were degraded with rate of degradation which were 0.0281 and 0.011 min−1.

Abstract
Aniline and its derivate are critical environmental pollutants, and thus, the introduction of an eco-friendly catalyst for removing them is an important research future. The ZnO supported on the ball-mill prepared clinoptilolite nanoparticles (CNPs) was prepared via an ion-exchange process followed by the calcination process. The amount of loaded ZnO in the ZnO-CNP (CZ) samples varied as 0.54, 0.63, 0.72, and 0.86 meq/g as the Zn(II) concentration in the ion-exchange solution varied from 0.1 to 0.5 M. The ZnO-CNP catalyst was briefly characterized by XRD, FTIR, and DRS techniques. The pHpzc value for the various ZnO-CNPs was about 7.1 that had no change with the ZnO loading. By applying the Scherrer equation on the XRD results, a nano-dimension of about 50 nm was obtained for the catalyst. Bandgap energy of the ZnO-CNP samples was estimated by applying the Kubelka-Munk equation on the DRS reflectance spectra. The value for the CZ2 catalyst was about 3.64 eV. The supported ZnO-CNP sample was then used in the photodegradation of 2,4-dichloroaniline (DCA). Raw zeolite showed a relatively low photocatalytic activity. The degradation efficiency was followed by recording the absorbance of the DCA solution by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The effects of the essential critical operating factors on the degradation efficiency were kinetically studied by applying the Hinshelwood equation to the results. The ZnO-CNP catalyst with 2 w% ZnO showed the best photocatalytic rate in the optimal conditions of 0.75 g/L, CDCA: 15 ppm, and the initial pH: 5.8. Finally, HPLC analysis of the blank and the photodegraded DCA solutions at 180 and 300 min confirmed 74 and 87% of DCA molecules were degraded during these times. The results confirm that supported ZnO onto clinoptilolite caused enhanced photocatalytic activity because the zeolite internal electrical field prevents the e-/h+ recombination.

Abstract
A ternary CdS/AgBr/Ag3PO4 coupled system was prepared, characterized by different techniques, and used for the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB). The hexagonal (wurtzite) CdS, the cubic AgBr, and the Ag3PO4 body-centered cubic crystallite phases were detected by XRD patterns. The Scherer equation showed the crystallite sizes of 3, 26.3, 28, and 27.9 nm for CdS, Ag3PO4, AgBr NPs, and the ternary CdS/AgBr/Ag3PO4 sample, while the Williamson-Hall model got the values of 1.8, 46.2, 62.12, and 92.44 nm, respectively. The diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) showed that the ternary catalyst could absorb the whole range of visible light photons. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra significantly depended on the solvent nature, and the sharp scattering peaks appeared in the water, while these were absent in acetone as solvent. The ternary catalyst also showed a lower PL intensity and a higher photocatalytic activity concerning the individual NPs. When the moles of CdS were three times greater than the other components, the resulted ternary catalyst showed the lowest PL intensity and the highest degradation activity. The MB mineralization was also studied by the COD technique and compared with MB photodegradation kinetically. The MB photodegradation rate constant of about 0.0276 min-1 (correspond to t1/2 25.1 min) was 1.75 times greater than the MB mineralization rate constant (about 0.0158 min-1 correspond to t1/2 value of 43.9 min).

Abstract
The conversion of carbon-rich biomass into valuable material is an environmental-friendly approach for its reutilization. In this study, coconut shell-derived biochar, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4), g-C3N4/biochar, titanium dioxide (TiO2)/biochar, zinc oxide (ZnO)/biochar, and ferric oxide (Fe2O3)/biochar were synthesized and characterized by using scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), surface area analysis, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and zeta potential analysis. The g-C3N4 or metal oxide particles were found to be well-distributed on the coconut shell-derived biochar with the improvement in thermal stability and enlargement of specific surface area. A great reduction in band gap energy was observed in the composite materials after incorporating with the biochar. Among different biochar composites, g-C3N4/biochar was found to have the highest photocatalytic activity. The interactive effect of parameters such as catalyst dosage, peroxymonosulfate (PMS) oxidant dosage, and solution pH on the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange was investigated using the response surface methodology (RSM). The highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency (96.63%) was achieved at catalyst dosage of 0.75 g/L, oxidant dosage of 0.6 mM, and solution pH 3 after 30 min.

Abstract
A BiVO4-WO3 nano-composite (NC) was hydrothermally prepared and characterized by different techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyzer, X-ray mapping, UV-Vis reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The average crystallite size of 8.5 nm was estimated for the composite by the Williamson-Hall equation. The band gap energies of 2.46, 3.02, and 2.95 eV were obtained for the direct electronic transitions of BiVO4, WO3, and the composite, respectively. The point of zero charges (pHpzc) of the composite was also estimated at 5. The composite was then used in the photodegradation of sulfasalazine (SSZ). When the moles of WO3 was four times greater than BiVO4, the best photocatalytic activity and the lowest PL intensity were obtained. The simultaneous effects of the experimental variables on the boosted photocatalytic activity of the composite (to the single semiconductors) were studied by the response surface methodology (RSM). A significant quadratic model was confirmed for processing the data based on the F value of a model F value of 63.55 > F0.05, 14, 13 = 2.55. This was also confirmed by LOF F value of 2.56 < F0.05, 10, 3 = 8.79. Besides, the multiple correlation coefficients R2 (R2 = 0.9856), adjusted R2 (adj-R2 = 0.9701), and predicted R2 (pred-R2 = 0.9098) confirm the goodness of the model. The optimal run included CSSZ 9 mg/L, pH 4, 40 min irradiation time, and 0.8 g/L of the composite under the visible light irradiation.

Abstract
AbstractThe present investigation is focused on the preparation, characterization, and photocatalytic activity evaluation of TiO2/zeolite, WO3/zeolite, WO3/TiO2/zeolite, and WO3/TiO2 composites. Zeolite fujasite (FAU) was synthesized by the hydrothermal method, while the semiconductor/zeolite composites by a straightforward physical mixture and calcination treatment. The photocatalytic activity of the materials was evaluated through the methyl orange (MO) degradation under near-UV irradiation (365 nm). The photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and nitrogen physisorption. Results indicated that TiO2, WO3, and Zeolite Y kept their crystalline phases after the preparation method. TiO2 and WO3 particles were distributed on zeolite surface. Also, no significant changes in the band gap energies of the photocatalysts were found. The surface area of zeolite FAU decreased with the addition of TiO2 and WO3. The best MO degradation under near-UV irradiation was obtained with WO3/TiO2 heterojunction and TiO2 P25, no synergistic effect was found between semiconductors and zeolite FAU. Additionally, the kinetic data of the photocatalytic elimination of MO with all photocatalysts under near-UV radiation was investigated with several models: Zero-order, First-Order, Second Order, Modified Freundlich and Parabolic Diffusion, they were consistent with Modified Freundlich model. The effect of initial pH and photocatalyst weight was explored for TiO2/Zeolite composite and it was found that the best MO degradation was obtained at natural pH of 10.3 and 0.2 g of composite was the optimal amount of photocatalyst. Finally, the positive hole formation in all photocatalysts was detected by UV–vis spectroscopy and it was discovered that the highest density of positive holes was obtained with TiO2/zeolite composite.

Abstract
Coupled CdS-CuO nanoparticles (NPs) subjected in the photocatalytic degradation of Methylene blue (MB) aqueous solution. The calcination temperature and the crystallite phase of CuO had a significant role on the photocatalytic activity of the coupled system and CuO200/2h-CdS catalyst (containing CuO calcined at 200°C for 2h) showed the best photocatalytic activity. The coupled system showed increased activity with respect to the monocomponent semiconductors. The prepared catalysts characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyzer, x-ray mapping, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The best degradation extent of MB was obtained at: CMB: 1mgL-1, pH5, 80min irradiation time and 0.8gL-1 of the CuO200/2h-CdS catalyst. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) confirmed about 83% of MB molecules can be mineralized at the optimum conditions.
