A brief survey on the advanced brain drug administration by nanoscale carriers: With a particular focus on AChE reactivators

Reactivators of butyrylcholinesterase inhibited by organophosphorus compounds

In this review, the current progress in the research and development of butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) reactivators is summarised and the advantages or disadvantages of these reactivators are critically discussed. Organophosphorus compounds such as nerve agents (sarin, tabun, VX) or pesticides (chlorpyrifos, diazinon) cause irreversible inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and BChE in the human body. While AChE inhibition can be life threatening due to cholinergic overstimulation and crisis, selective BChE inhibition has presumably no adverse effects. Because BChE is mostly found in plasma, its activity is important for the scavenging of organophosphates before they can reach AChE in the central nervous system. Therefore, this enzyme in combination with its reactivator can be used as a pseudo-catalytic scavenger of organophosphates. Three structural types of BChE reactivators were found, i.e. bisquaternary salts, monoquaternary salts and uncharged compounds. Although the reviewed reactivators have certain limitations, the promising candidates for BChE reactivation were found in each structural group.

Preparation of imidazole acids grafted chitosan with enhanced antioxidant, antibacterial and antitumor activities

Herein, imidazole acids grafted chitosan derivatives were synthesized, including HACC, HACC derivatives, TMC, TMC derivatives, amidated chitosan and amidated chitosan bearing imidazolium salts. The prepared chitosan derivatives were characterized by FT-IR and ¹H NMR. The tests evaluated the biological antioxidant, antibacterial, and cytotoxic activities of chitosan derivatives. The antioxidant capacity (DPPH radical, superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical) of chitosan derivatives was 2.4-8.3 times higher than that of chitosan. The antibacterial capacity against E. coli and S. aureus of cationic derivatives (HACC derivatives, TMC derivatives, and amidated chitosan bearing imidazolium salts) was more active than only imidazole-chitosan (amidated chitosan). In particular, the inhibition effect of HACC derivatives on E. coli was 15.625 μg/mL. Moreover, the series of chitosan derivatives bearing imidazole acids showed certain activity against MCF-7 and A549 cells. The present results suggest that the chitosan derivatives in this paper seem to be promising carrier materials for use in drug delivery systems.

Design and development of novel magnetic Lentinan/PVA nanocomposite for removal of diazinon, malathion, and diclofenac contaminants

Increasing population growth and rapid expansion of the industrialization of the world society have caused severe environmental pollution to the planet. This study was carried out in order to investigate the synthesis of biopolymeric texture nano adsorbent based on the Lentinan (LENT), Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Iron Oxide nanoparticles for the removal of environmental pollutants. The spherical structural morphology of Fe₃O₄@LENT/PVA nanocomposite has been determined by FE-SEM analyses. According to the obtained results from FTIR analyses, all absorption bands of the Fe₃O₄, LENT, and PVA, had been existed in nanocomposite and approved the successful formation of it. From EDS analysis, it has been revealed that 57.21 wt% Fe, 17.56 wt% C and 25.23 wt% O. Also, the XRD pattern of the nanocomposite, approved the presence of polymeric and magnetic parts with card no. JCPDS, 01-075-0033. The BET analysis has defined specific surface area (47 m²/g) and total pore volume (0.15 cm³/g). Moreover, high heterogeneity and structural stability of the fabricated Fe₃O₄@LENT/PVA nanocomposite have been proven by TGA. Besides, VSM analysis measured great magnetic property of the nanocomposite (48 emu/g). Also, the Fe₃O₄@LENT/PVA nanocomposite potential for effective removal of malathion (MA), Diazinon (DA), and Diclofenac (DF) from watery solution has studied by an experiment based on the efficacy of adsorbent dosage, pH, and temperature. The adsorption kinetics of three pollutants had investigated using pseudo-first-order (PFO), pseudo-second-order (PSO) and intra-particle diffusion (IPD) velocity equations, the results showed that the kinetics followed PSO velocity equations. Also, the Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubbin-Radushkevich (D-R) and Temkin isotherm models had investigated, and the adsorption isotherm was adopted from the Langmuir model. The results demonstrated that in the presence of Fe₃O₄@LENT/PVA nanocomposite, at the optimal conditions (contact time = 180 min, pH = 5, nanocomposite dosage = 0.20 g/L and temperature of 298 K) the maximum adsorption capacity of MA, DF, and DA were 101.57, 153.28, and 102.75 mg/g, respectively. The antibacterial features of the Fe₃O₄@LENT/PVA nanocomposite, had evaluated by Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteria, but the result did not show any antibacterial activity.

Cutaneous Lymphoma and Antibody-Directed Therapies

The introduction of monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab to the treatment of cancer has greatly advanced the treatment scenario in onco-hematology. However, the response to these agents may be limited by insufficient efficacy or resistance. Antibody–drug conjugates are an attractive strategy to deliver payloads of toxicity or radiation with high selectivity toward malignant targets and limited unwanted effects. Primary cutaneous lymphomas are a heterogeneous group of disorders and a current area of unmet need in dermato-oncology due to the limited options available for advanced cases. This review briefly summarizes our current understanding of T and B cell lymphomagenesis, with a focus on recognized molecular alterations that may provide investigative therapeutic targets. The authors reviewed antibody-directed therapies investigated in the setting of lymphoma: this term includes a broad spectrum of approaches, from antibody–drug conjugates such as brentuximab vedotin, to bi-specific antibodies, antibody combinations, antibody-conjugated nanotherapeutics, radioimmunotherapy and, finally, photoimmunotherapy with specific antibody–photoadsorber conjugates, as an attractive strategy in development for the future management of cutaneous lymphoma.

Vancomycin-Loaded Fe3O4/MOF-199 Core/Shell Cargo Encapsulated by Guanidylated-β-Cyclodextrine: An Effective Antimicrobial Nanotherapeutic

This study describes an efficient antimicrobial drug delivery system composed of iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (Fe₃O₄ NPs) coated by an MOF-199 network. Then, the prepared vancomycin (VAN)-loaded carrier was fully packed in a lattice of beta-cyclodextrin (BCD). For cell adhesion, beta-cyclodextrin has been functionalized with guanidine (Gn) groups within in situ synthetic processes. Afterward, drug loading efficiency and the release patterns were investigated through precise analytical methods. Confocal microscopy has shown that the prepared cargo (formulated as [VAN@Fe₃O₄/MOF-199]BCD-Gn) could be attached to the Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacterial cells in a higher rate than the individual VAN. The presented system considerably increased the antibacterial effects of the VAN with a lower dosage of drug. The cellular experiments such as the zone of inhibition and optical density (OD₆₀₀) have confirmed the enhanced antibacterial effect of the designed cargo. In addition, the MIC/MBC (minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations) values have been estimated for the prepared cargo compared to the individual VAN, revealing high antimicrobial potency of the VAN@Fe₃O₄/MOF-199]BCD-Gn cargo.

The Formation of Morphologically Stable Lipid Nanocarriers for Glioma Therapy

Cerasomes are a promising modification of liposomes with covalent siloxane networks on the surface that provide outstanding morphological stability while maintaining all the useful traits of liposomes. Herein, thin film hydration and ethanol sol injection methods were utilized to produce cerasomes of various composition, which were then evaluated for the purpose of drug delivery. The most promising nanoparticles obtained by the thin film method were studied closely using MTT assay, flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy on T98G glioblastoma cell line and modified with surfactants to achieve stability and the ability to bypass the blood-brain barrier. An antitumor agent, paclitaxel, was loaded into cerasomes, which increased its potency and demonstrated increased ability to induce apoptosis in T98G glioblastoma cell culture. Cerasomes loaded with fluorescent dye rhodamine B demonstrated significantly increased fluorescence in brain slices of Wistar rats compared to free rhodamine B. Thin film hydration with Tween 80 addition was established as a more reliable and versatile method for cerasome preparation. Cerasomes increased the antitumor action of paclitaxel toward T98G cancer cells by a factor of 36 and were able to deliver rhodamine B over the blood-brain barrier in rats.

Effects of morphology and size of nanoscale drug carriers on cellular uptake and internalization process: a review

In the field of targeted drug delivery, the effects of size and morphology of drug nanocarriers are of great importance and need to be discussed in depth. To be concise, among all the various shapes of nanocarriers, rods and tubes with a narrow cross-section are the most preferred shapes for the penetration of a cell membrane. In this regard, several studies have focused on methods to produce nanorods and nanotubes with controlled optimized size and aspect ratio (AR). Additionally, a non-spherical orientation could affect the cellular uptake process while a tangent angle of less than 45° is better at penetrating the membrane, and Ω = 90° is beneficial. Moreover, these nanocarriers show different behaviors when confronting diverse cells whose fields should be investigated in future studies. In this survey, a comprehensive classification based on carrier shape is first submitted. Then, the most commonly used methods for control over the size and shape of the carriers are reviewed. Finally, influential factors on the cellular uptake and internalization processes and related analytical methods for evaluating this process are discussed.

Therapy of Organophosphate Poisoning via Intranasal Administration of 2-PAM-Loaded Chitosomes

Chitosan-decorated liposomes were proposed for the first time for the intranasal delivery of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) reactivator pralidoxime chloride (2-PAM) to the brain as a therapy for organophosphorus compounds (OPs) poisoning. Firstly, the chitosome composition based on phospholipids, cholesterol, chitosans (Cs) of different molecular weights, and its arginine derivative was developed and optimized. The use of the polymer modification led to an increase in the encapsulation efficiency toward rhodamine B (RhB; ~85%) and 2-PAM (~60%) by 20% compared to conventional liposomes. The formation of monodispersed and stable nanosized particles with a hydrodynamic diameter of up to 130 nm was shown using dynamic light scattering. The addition of the polymers recharged the liposome surface (from -15 mV to +20 mV), which demonstrates the successful deposition of Cs on the vesicles. In vitro spectrophotometric analysis showed a slow release of substrates (RhB and 2-PAM) from the nanocontainers, while the concentration and Cs type did not significantly affect the chitosome permeability. Flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy qualitatively and quantitatively demonstrated the penetration of the developed chitosomes into normal Chang liver and M-HeLa cervical cancer cells. At the final stage, the ability of the formulated 2-PAM to reactivate brain AChE was assessed in a model of paraoxon-induced poisoning in an in vivo test. Intranasal administration of 2-PAM-containing chitosomes allows it to reach the degree of enzyme reactivation up to 35 ± 4%.

Household prallethrin-based insecticide toxicity on different C. elegans life stage: A possible sign of Huntington Disease

Household insecticide is largely used for insect and ectoparasite control, in city centers as well as in the countryside. The pyrethroids are the most used class of insecticide, these compounds in low doses have low toxicity for mammalians, in comparison to other compounds, with insecticide effects. The contact of these compounds in sublethal doses begins in early life and many cases, in intrauterine life. Considerable diseases still with undefined etiology, such as neurodegenerative conditions, and Huntington's Disease (HD) is one of them. HD is related to overexpression of Polyglutamine (PolyQ40), its aggregation, and non-solubilization, which leads to neural, behavioral, and cognitive damage. In our study, we evaluate the effect of two sublethal doses of a prallethrin-based insecticide (P-BI), in three different Caenorhabditis elegans life stages transgenerational, neonatal, and lifespan. We evaluated the Body bends and pharyngeal pumping rate, and social feeding as behavioral biomarkers. As well as acetylcholinesterase activity (AChE), PolyQ40 aggregation, antioxidant enzymes, and heat shock protein (HSP) expression. We observe that the toxic effect of P-BI is more pronounced on transgenerational and lifespan exposure. Both sublethal doses of P-BI decreased the AChE activity and retard the HSP expression as well as increased the PolyQ40 aggregates indicating a clear biomarker for possible effect in the progression of the HD, by the environmental contamination.

Efficient Photodegradation of Eriochrome Black-T by a Trimetallic Magnetic Self-Synthesized Nanophotocatalyst Based on Zn/Au/Fe-Embedded Poly(vinyl alcohol)

This study presents a novel photocatalytic system for photocatalytic degradation of Eriochrome black-T (EBT) dye via green light-emitting diode (LED) light exposure. This photocatalyst is comprised of nanoscale components, i.e., poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe₃O₄ NPs), gold NPs (Au NPs), and zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs), rendering an active high surface area. The most highlighted property from the structural facet is the superparamagnetic behavior of Fe₃O₄ NPs, which provides a facile collection of magnetic photocatalyst NPs from the reaction flask and is successfully recycled eight times without considerable reduction in catalytic behavior. Briefly, the photocatalytic degradation at its highest efficiency reached 51.4% (10 ppm dye solution, 5.0 mL) and 64.75% (8 ppm dye solution, 5.0 mL) utilizing 10 mg of the designed photocatalyst (formulated as Fe₃O₄@PVA-Au/ZnO), a magnetic photocatalytic system under green LED light (7 W, 526 nm) exposure for 60 min. Besides, the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of the EBT dye by the as-prepared photocatalyst was proposed. Based on the obtained results, the presented photocatalytic method was recommended for scaling up and large-scale exploitation for the purification of the water resources.

Synergies in antimicrobial treatment by a levofloxacin-loaded halloysite and gold nanoparticles with a conjugation to a cell-penetrating peptide

Herein, a novel designed antimicrobial therapeutic drug delivery system is presented, in which halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) encapsulate a determined dosage of levofloxacin (lvx). Moreover, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been embedded into the structure for plasmonic heating under irradiation of the green LED light (7 W, 526 nm). It was revealed that the plasmonic heating of the AuNPs leads to a controlled trend in the lvx release process. Also, a synergistic effect on the antimicrobial activity of the prepared therapeutic system has been observed through photothermal heating of the structure. To enhance the cell adhesion, a cell-penetrating peptide sequence (CPP) is conjugated to the surfaces. This CPP has led to quick co-localization of the prepared nano-cargo (denoted as lvx@HNT/Au-CPP) with the bacterial living cells and further attachment (confirmed by confocal microscopy). Concisely, the structure of the designed nano-cargo has been investigated by various methods, and the in vitro cellular experiments (zone of inhibition and colony-counting) have disclosed that the antimicrobial activity of the lvx is significantly enhanced through incorporation into the HNT/Au-CPP delivery system (drug content: 16 wt%), in comparison with the individual lvx with the same dosage. Hence, it can be stated that the bacterial resistance against antibiotics and the toxic effects of the chemical medications are reduced through the application of the presented strategy.

A magnetic antibody-conjugated nano-system for selective delivery of Ca(OH)2 and taxotere in ovarian cancer cells

An efficient strategy for cancer therapy is presented, in which a tumor mass is initially pretreated with calcium hydroxide, then treated with Taxotere (TXT). In this regard, an advanced delivery system based on iron oxide nanoparticles has been designed. The surface of nanoparticles was functionalized with sortilin (SORT-1, a human IgG1 monoclonal antibody) that specifically encodes caov-4 ovarian cancerous cells. Plasmonic heating of the incorporated gold nanoparticles in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has been exploited to control the release process of TXT. The in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo experiments have exhibited high efficacy of a seven-day pretreatment by Ca(OH)₂ plus 14 days treatment program by Ca(OH)₂@Fe₃O₄/PVA/Au-SORT nano-therapeutics, where more penetration ratio resulted in tumor growth inhibition by ca. 78.3%. As a result, due to showing high values of the anti-tumor properties and biosafety, the presented pretreatment strategy is suggested for more effective treatment on the aged tumors.

A magnetic drug delivery system containing polyvinyl alcohol, gold nanoparticles, and sortilin antibody followed by the plasmonic photothermal heating strategy for the controlled drug release is proposed, with use in ovarian cancer demonstrated.

Oxime Therapy for Brain AChE Reactivation and Neuroprotection after Organophosphate Poisoning

One of the main problems in the treatment of poisoning with organophosphorus (OPs) inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is low ability of existing reactivators of AChE that are used as antidotes to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB). In this work, modified cationic liposomes were developed that can penetrate through the BBB and deliver the reactivator of AChE pralidoxime chloride (2-PAM) into the brain. Liposomes were obtained on the basis of phosphatidylcholine and imidazolium surfactants. To obtain the composition optimized in terms of charge, stability, and toxicity, the molar ratio of surfactant/lipid was varied. For the systems, physicochemical parameters, release profiles of the substrates (rhodamine B, 2-PAM), hemolytic activity and ability to cause hemagglutination were evaluated. Screening of liposome penetration through the BBB, analysis of 2-PAM pharmacokinetics, and in vivo AChE reactivation showed that modified liposomes readily pass into the brain and reactivate brain AChE in rats poisoned with paraoxon (POX) by 25%. For the first time, an assessment was made of the ability of imidazolium liposomes loaded with 2-PAM to reduce the death of neurons in the brains of mice. It was shown that intravenous administration of liposomal 2-PAM can significantly reduce POX-induced neuronal death in the hippocampus.

Nanoscale bioconjugates: A review of the structural attributes of drug-loaded nanocarrier conjugates for selective cancer therapy

Nanobioconjugates are nanoscale drug delivery vehicles that have been conjugated to or decorated with biologically active targeting ligands. These targeting ligands can be antibodies, peptides, aptamers, or small molecules such as vitamins or hormones. Most research studies in this field have been devoted to targeting cancer. Moreover, the nanostructures can be designed with an additional level of targeting by being designed to be stimulus-responsive or "smart" by a judicious choice of materials to be incorporated into the hybrid nanostructures. This stimulus could be an acidic pH, raised temperature, enzyme, ultrasound, redox potential, an externally applied magnetic field, or laser irradiation. In this case, the smart capability can increase the accumulation at the tumor site or the on-demand drug release, while the ligand ensures selective binding to the tumor cells. The present review highlights some interesting studies classified according to the nanostructure material. These materials include natural substances (polysaccharides), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (and halloysite nanotubes), metal-organic frameworks and covalent-organic frameworks, metal nanoparticles (gold and silver), and polymeric micelles.

Inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 by a chitosan/α-Ag2WO4 composite generated by femtosecond laser irradiation

In the current COVID-19 pandemic, the next generation of innovative materials with enhanced anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity is urgently needed to prevent the spread of this virus within the community. Herein, we report the synthesis of chitosan/α-Ag₂WO₄ composites synthetized by femtosecond laser irradiation. The antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Methicilin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA), and Candida albicans was determined by estimating the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal/fungicidal concentration (MBC/MFC). To assess the biocompatibility of chitosan/α-Ag₂WO₄ composites in a range involving MIC and MBC/MFC on keratinocytes cells (NOK-si), an alamarBlue™ assay and an MTT assay were carried out. The SARS-CoV-2 virucidal effects was analyzed in Vero E6 cells through viral titer quantified in cell culture supernatant by PFU/mL assay. Our results showed a very similar antimicrobial activity of chitosan/α-Ag₂WO₄ 3.3 and 6.6, with the last one demonstrating a slightly better action against MSSA. The chitosan/α-Ag₂WO₄ 9.9 showed a wide range of antimicrobial activity (0.49-31.25 µg/mL). The cytotoxicity outcomes by alamarBlue™ revealed that the concentrations of interest (MIC and MBC/MFC) were considered non-cytotoxic to all composites after 72 h of exposure. The Chitosan/α-Ag₂WO₄ (CS6.6/α-Ag₂WO₄) composite reduced the SARS-CoV-2 viral titer quantification up to 80% of the controls. Then, our results suggest that these composites are highly efficient materials to kill bacteria (Escherichia coli, Methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus, and the yeast strain Candida albicans), in addition to inactivating SARS-CoV-2 by contact, through ROS production.

Convenient synthesis of dipeptide structures in solution phase assisted by a thioaza functionalized magnetic nanocatalyst

In this study, a heterogeneous nanocatalyst is presented that is capable to efficiently catalyze the synthetic reactions of amide bond formation between the amino acids. This nanocatalyst which is named Fe3O4@SiO2/TABHA (TABHA stands for thio-aza-bicyclo-hepten amine), was composed of several layers that increased the surface area to be functionalized with 2-aminothiazole rings via Diels-Alder approach. Firstly, various analytic methods such as Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopic methods, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), electron microscopy (EM), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS) have been used to characterize the desired structure of the Fe3O4@SiO2/TABHA catalyst. Afterward, the application of the presented catalytic system has been studied in the peptide bond formation reactions. Due to the existence of a magnetic core in the structure of the nanocatalyst, the nanoparticles (NPs) could be easily separated from the reaction medium by an external magnet. This special feature has been corroborated by the obtained results from vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis that showed 24 emu g-1 magnetic saturation for the catalytic system. Amazingly, a small amount of Fe3O4@SiO2/TABHA particles (0.2 g) has resulted in ca. 90% efficiency in catalyzing the peptide bond formation at ambient temperature, over 4 h. Also, this nanocatalyst has demonstrated an acceptable recycling ability, where ca. 76% catalytic performance has been observed after four recycles. Due to high convenience in the preparation, application, and recyclization processes, and also because of lower cost than the traditional coupling reagents (like TBTU), the presented catalytic system is recommended for the industrial utilization.

Functionalized hybrid magnetic catalytic systems on micro- and nanoscale utilized in organic synthesis and degradation of dyes

Herein, a concise review of the latest developments in catalytic processes involving organic reactions is presented, focusing on magnetic catalytic systems (MCSs). In recent years, various micro- and nanoscale magnetic catalysts have been prepared through different methods based on optimized reaction conditions and utilized in complex organic synthesis or degradation reactions of pharmaceutical compounds. These biodegradable, biocompatible and eco-benign MCSs have achieved the principles of green chemistry, and thus their usage is highly advocated. In addition, MCSs can shorten the reaction time, effectively accelerate reactions, and significantly upgrade both pharmaceutical synthesis and degradation mechanisms by preventing unwanted side reactions. Moreover, the other significant benefits of MCSs include their convenient magnetic separation, high stability and reusability, inexpensive raw materials, facile preparation routes, and surface functionalization. In this review, our aim is to present at the recent improvements in the structure of versatile MCSs and their characteristics, i.e., magnetization, recyclability, structural stability, turnover number (TON), and turnover frequency (TOF). Concisely, different hybrid and multifunctional MCSs are discussed. Additionally, the applications of MCSs for the synthesis of different pharmaceutical ingredients and degradation of organic wastewater contaminants such as toxic dyes and drugs are demonstrated.

Cefixime-Containing Silica Nanoseeds Coated by a Hybrid PVA-Gold Network with a Cys-Arg Dipeptide Conjugation: Enhanced Antimicrobial and Drug Release Properties

Therapeutic nano-bioconjugates (TNBCs) as an advanced class of drug delivery systems have attracted much attention due to more efficacy than the individual medications. Hence, in this study, a novel anti-infection TNBC system is designed based on highly porous silica nanoparticles, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), and hybridized polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) for the efficient delivery of cefixime (CFM). Furthermore, a conjugation of cysteine-arginine (CR) dipeptide is made onto the surfaces for the enhancement of cell adhesion. Concisely, the AuNPs incorporated inside the PVA network play the key role in the controlled release process triggered by localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) heating. The drug content of the CFM-containing cargo (named as CFM@SiO₂/PVA/Au-CR) and related release profile have been precisely studied by the confirmed analytical methods. Eventually, confocal microscopy on the stained cells has revealed that the TNBC particles are capable of entering the Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) bacterial cells better than the individual CFM. Also, optical density experiments (OD₆₀₀) have corroborated that the prepared CFM@SiO₂/PVA/Au-CR TNBC includes a high antimicrobial effect on K. pneumoniae and E. coli cells with (93.0 ± 1.5) % and (86.8 ± 1.0) % success rates, respectively, whereas the same dosage of the individual CFM has shown a lower effect on the cell growth rate. Also, estimation of minimum inhibitory/bactericidal concentrations (MIC/MBC) confirmed the enhanced antibacterial property of the CFM through the presented delivery method. Overall, this product is suggested to be clinically administrated instead of the individual CFM due to its high efficacy and containing lower dosage of the antibiotic drug.

Enhanced antimicrobial treatment by a clay-based drug nanocarrier conjugated to a guanidine-rich cell penetrating peptide

In this study, a novel and efficient drug delivery system is proposed for the enhancement of antimicrobial properties of antibiotic medications such as vancomycin (VCM) and levofloxacin (OFX). The architecture of the designed drug carrier is based on halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) with a rolled-laminate shape, suitable for the encapsulation of drug and further release. In order to make them capable for magnetic direction to the target tissue, the exterior surface of the tubes is composed of iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe₃O₄ NPs), via an in situ process. The main role in the antimicrobial activity enhancement is played by a cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) sequence synthesized in the solid phase, which contains three arginine–tryptophan blocks plus a cysteine as the terminal amino acid (C(WR)₃). The drug content values for the prepared nanocargoes named as VCM@Fe₃O₄/HNT–C(WR)₃ and OFX@Fe₃O₄/HNT–C(WR)₃, have been estimated at ca. 10 wt% and 12 wt%, respectively. Also, the drug release investigations have shown that above 90% of the encapsulated drug is released in acetate buffer (pH = 4.6), during a 90 minutes process. Confocal microscopy has corroborated good adhesion and co-localization of the particles and the stained living cells. Moreover, in vitro antimicrobial assessments (optical density, zone of inhibition, and minimum inhibitory concentration) have revealed that the bacterial cell growth rate is significantly inhibited by suggested nanocargoes, in comparison with the individual drugs in the same dosage. Hence, administration of the presented nanocargoes is recommended for the clinical treatment of the infected target organ.

A novel anti-infection therapeutic nano-bioconjugate based on magnetized halloysite nanotubes and a CPP is presented. High levels of bactericidal effects have been obtained with the designed nanocargo in comparison with the individual drugs.

Strategies for Structural Modification of Small Molecules to Improve Blood-Brain Barrier Penetration: A Recent Perspective

In the development of central nervous system (CNS) drugs, the blood-brain barrier (BBB) restricts many drugs from entering the brain to exert therapeutic effects. Although many novel delivery methods of large molecule drugs have been designed to assist transport, small molecule drugs account for the vast majority of the CNS drugs used clinically. From this perspective, we review studies from the past five years that have sought to modify small molecules to increase brain exposure. Medicinal chemists make it easier for small molecules to cross the BBB by improving diffusion, reducing efflux, and activating carrier transporters. On the basis of their excellent work, we summarize strategies for structural modification of small molecules to improve BBB penetration. These strategies are expected to provide a reference for the future development of small molecule CNS drugs.

Plasmonic photothermal release of docetaxel by gold nanoparticles incorporated onto halloysite nanotubes with conjugated 2D8-E3 antibodies for selective cancer therapy

BACKGROUND

Applied nanomaterials in targeted drug delivery have received increased attention due to tangible advantages, including enhanced cell adhesion and internalization, controlled targeted release, convenient detection in the body, enhanced biodegradation, etc. Furthermore, conjugation of the biologically active ingredients with the drug-containing nanocarriers (nanobioconjugates) has realized impressive opportunities in targeted therapy. Among diverse nanostructures, halloysite nanotubes (NHTs) with a rolled multilayer structure offer great possibilities for drug encapsulation and controlled release. The presence of a strong hydrogen bond network between the rolled HNT layers enables the controlled release of the encapsulated drug molecules through the modulation of hydrogen bonding either in acidic conditions or at higher temperatures. The latter can be conveniently achieved through the photothermal effect via the incorporation of plasmonic nanoparticles.

RESULTS

The developed nanotherapeutic integrated natural halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) as a carrier; gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for selective release; docetaxel (DTX) as a cytotoxic anticancer agent; human IgG1 sortilin 2D8-E3 monoclonal antibody (SORT) for selective targeting; and 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane as a linker for antibody attachment that also enhances the hydrophobicity of DTX@HNT/Au-SORT and minimizes DTX leaching in body's internal environment. HNTs efficiently store DTX at room temperature and release it at higher temperatures via disruption of interlayer hydrogen bonding. The role of the physical expansion and disruption of the interlayer hydrogen bonding in HNTs for the controlled DTX release has been studied by dynamic light scattering (DLS), electron microscopy (EM), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at different pH conditions. HNT interlayer bond disruption has been confirmed to take place at a much lower temperature (44 °C) at low pH vs. 88 °C, at neutral pH thus enabling the effective drug release by DTX@HNT/Au-SORT through plasmonic photothermal therapy (PPTT) by light interaction with localized plasmon resonance (LSPR) of AuNPs incorporated into the HNT pores.

CONCLUSIONS

Selective ovarian tumor targeting was accomplished, demonstrating practical efficiency of the designed nanocomposite therapeutic, DTX@HNT/Au-SORT. The antitumor activity of DTX@HNT/Au-SORT (apoptosis of 90 ± 0.3%) was confirmed by in vitro experiments using a caov-4 (ATCC HTB76) cell line (sortilin expression > 70%) that was successfully targeted by the sortilin 2D8-E3 mAb, tagged on the DTX@HNT/Au.

Highly porous copper-supported magnetic nanocatalysts: made of volcanic pumice textured by cellulose and applied for the reduction of nitrobenzene derivatives

Herein, a novel designed heterogeneous catalytic system constructed of volcanic pumice magnetic particles (VPMPs), cellulose (CLS) as a natural polymeric matrix, and copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) is presented. Also, to enhance the inherent magnetic property of VPMP, iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles have been prepared and incorporated in the structure via an in situ process. As its first and foremost excellent property, the designed composite is in great accordance with green chemistry principles because it contains natural ingredients. Another brilliant point in the architecture of the designed composite is the noticeable porosity of VPMP as the core of the composite structure (surface area: 84.473 m2 g-1). This great porosity leads to the use of a small amount (0.05 g) of the particles for catalytic purposes. However, the main characterization methods, such as Fourier-transform infrared and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and electron microscopy, revealed that the spherical metallic particles (Fe and Cu oxides) were successfully distributed onto the surface of the VPMP and CLS matrices. Further, vibrating-sample magnetometer analysis confirmed the enhancement of the magnetic property (1.5 emu g-1) of the composite through the addition of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Further, the prepared (Fe3O4@VPMP/CLS-Cu) nanocomposite has been applied to facilitate the reduction reaction of hazardous nitrobenzene derivatives (NBDs) to their aniline analogs, with 98% conversion efficiency in eight minutes under mild conditions. Moreover, the good reusability of the catalytic system has been verified after recycling it ten times without any significant decrease in the performance.

Present Status and Future Prospects of Jute in Nanotechnology: A Review

Nanotechnology has transformed the world with its diverse applications, ranging from industrial developments to impacting our daily lives. It has multiple applications throughout financial sectors and enables the development of facilitating scientific endeavors with extensive commercial potentials. Nanomaterials, especially the ones which have shown biomedical and other health-related properties, have added new dimensions to the field of nanotechnology. Recently, the use of bioresources in nanotechnology has gained significant attention from the scientific community due to its 100 % eco-friendly features, availability, and low costs. In this context, jute offers a considerable potential. Globally, its plant produces the second most common natural cellulose fibers and a large amount of jute sticks as a byproduct. The main chemical compositions of jute fibers and sticks, which have a trace amount of ash content, are cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. This makes jute as an ideal source of pure nanocellulose, nano-lignin, and nanocarbon preparation. It has also been used as a source in the evolution of nanomaterials used in various applications. In addition, hemicellulose and lignin, which are extractable from jute fibers and sticks, could be utilized as a reductant/stabilizer for preparing other nanomaterials. This review highlights the status and prospects of jute in nanotechnology. Different research areas in which jute can be applied, such as in nanocellulose preparation, as scaffolds for other nanomaterials, catalysis, carbon preparation, life sciences, coatings, polymers, energy storage, drug delivery, fertilizer delivery, electrochemistry, reductant, and stabilizer for synthesizing other nanomaterials, petroleum industry, paper industry, polymeric nanocomposites, sensors, coatings, and electronics, have been summarized in detail. We hope that these prospects will serve as a precursor of jute-based nanotechnology research in the future.

Bifunctional PVA/ZnO/AgI/Chlorophyll Nanocomposite Film: Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity for Degradation of Pollutants and Antimicrobial Property under Visible-Light Irradiation

Here, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with numerous hydroxyl groups has been applied as a suitable substrate for efficient formation of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles with a flower shape (confirmed by electron-scanning microscopy), silver iodide (AgI) nanoparticles, and chlorophyll (Chl), as a natural-based photocatalyst (PVA/ZnO/AgI/Chl). First, an efficient preparation route for the PVA/ZnO/AgI/Chl nanophotocatalyst is presented starting from the extraction of Chl from fresh spinach. Then, the catalytic role of the prepared composite is precisely investigated in degradation of methylene blue (MB). The effects of visible-light irradiation, different contact times, and the employed ingredients on the architecture of the PVA/ZnO/AgI/Chl are screened in the degradation process of MB. It is demonstrated that the best result (MB removal efficiency ca. 95.5%) is achieved by applying the visible-light irradiation using a LED lamp (70 W, λ = 425 nm) for a 60 min duration. Moreover, the photocatalytic performance of PVA/ZnO/AgI/Chl has been further confirmed by degradation of Congo red (CR) (ca. 92%, in 150 min) and 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) (88%, in 270 min), as well. As another function of the prepared PVA/ZnO/AgI/Chl composite, a substantial antibacterial property against human bacterial pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli as Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria has been noticed, studied by agar diffusion cup plate and colony methods. The zones of inhibition have been evaluated ca. 20 and 12 mm for the S. aureus and E. coli cell lines, respectively. Finally, a great synergy between the prepared composite and the visible light has been observed through the examination of the live bacteria: 99.6% for S. aureus and 99.8% for E. coli in the presence of visible light, after the subjection of PVA/ZnO/AgI/Chl particles to the bacteria, verified by the colony counter method.

Advances of peptides for antibacterial applications

In the past few decades, peptide antibacterial products with unique antibacterial mechanisms have attracted widespread interest. They can effectively reduce the probability of drug resistance of bacteria and are biocompatible, so they possess tremendous development prospects. This review provides recent research and analysis on the basic types of antimicrobial peptides (including poly (amino acid)s, short AMPs, and lipopeptides) and factors to optimize antimicrobial effects. It also summarizes the two most important modes of action of antimicrobial peptides and the latest developments in the application of AMPs, including antimicrobial agent, wound healing, preservative, antibacterial coating and others. Finally, we discuss the remaining challenges to improve the antibacterial peptides and propose prospects in the field.

Nanotechnology in ovarian cancer: Diagnosis and treatment

To overcome the drawbacks of conventional delivery, this review spotlights a number of nanoscale drug delivery systems, including nanoparticles, liposomes, nano micelles, branched dendrimers, nanocapsules, and nanostructured lipid formulations for the targeted therapy of ovarian cancer. These nanoformulations offer numerous advantages to promote therapeutic drug delivery such as nontoxicity, biocompatibility, good biodegradability, increased therapeutic impact than free drugs, and non-inflammatory effects. Importantly, the development of specific ligands functionalized nanoformulations enable preferential targeting of ovarian tumors and eventually amplify the therapeutic potential compared to nonfunctionalized counterparts. Ovarian cancer is typically identified by biomarker assessment such as CA125, HE4, Mucin 1, and prostatic. There is, nevertheless, a tremendous demand for less costly, faster, and compact medical tools, both for timely detection and ovarian cancer control. This paper explored multiple types of tumor marker-based on nanomaterial biosensors. Initially, we mention different forms of ovarian cancer biomarkers involving CA125, human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), mucin 1 (MUC1), and prostate. It is accompanied by a brief description of new nanotechnology methods for diagnosis. Nanobiosensors for evaluating ovarian cancer biomarkers can be categorized based on electrochemical, optical, paper-based, giant magnetoresistive, and lab-on-a-chip devices.

Convenient conversion of hazardous nitrobenzene derivatives to aniline analogues by Ag nanoparticles, stabilized on a naturally magnetic pumice/chitosan substrate

Herein, silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs), as an effective catalyst for the reduction process of nitrobenzene derivatives to non-hazardous and useful aniline derivatives, are conveniently synthesized on an inherently magnetic substrate. For this purpose, an efficient combination of volcanic pumice (VP), which is an extremely porous igneous rock, and a chitosan (CTS) polymeric network is prepared and suitably used for the stabilization of the Ag NPs. High magnetic properties of the fabricated Ag@VP/CTS composite, which have been confirmed via vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis, are the first and foremost advantage of the introduced catalytic system since it gives us the opportunity to easily separate the particles and perform purification processes. Briefly, higher yields were obtained in the reduction reactions of nitrobenzenes (NBs) under very mild conditions in a short reaction time. Also, along with the natural biocompatible ingredients (VP and CTS) in the structure, excellent recyclability has been observed for the fabricated Ag@VP/CTS catalytic system, which convinces us to do scaling-up and suggests the presented system can be used for industrial applications.

Facile route to synthesize Fe3O4@acacia-SO3H nanocomposite as a heterogeneous magnetic system for catalytic applications

In this work, a novel catalytic system for facilitating the organic multicomponent synthesis of 9-phenyl hexahydroacridine pharmaceutical derivatives is reported. Concisely, this catalyst was constructed from acacia gum (gum arabic) as a natural polymeric base, iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs), and sulfone functional groups on the surface as the main active catalytic sites. Herein, a convenient preparation method for this nanoscale composite is introduced. Then, essential characterization methods such as various spectroscopic analyses and electron microscopy (EM) were performed on the fabricated nano-powder. The thermal stability and magnetic properties were also precisely monitored via thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and vibrating-sample magnetometry (VSM) methods. Then, the performance of the presented catalytic system (Fe3O4@acacia-SO3H) was further investigated in the referred organic reaction by using various derivatives of the components involved in the reaction. Optimization, mechanistic studies, and reusability screening were carried out for this efficient catalyst as well. Overall, remarkable reaction yields (94%) were obtained for the various produced derivatives of 9-phenyl hexahydroacridine in the indicated optimal conditions.

Novel biocompatible core/shell Fe3O4@NFC@Co(ii) as a new catalyst in a multicomponent reaction: an efficient and sustainable methodology and novel reusable material for one-pot synthesis of 4H-pyran and pyranopyrazole in aqueous media

Today, due to the developing need for inexpensive catalysts, recyclable magnetic nanocatalysts immobilized on polysaccharides possess many advantages over classical heterogeneous catalysts. However, cellulose has been an appealing material in catalysis science and technology. In this work, by controlling the interaction between the inorganic complexes and the support material, we designed a high activity nanostructured combination of a magnetic nanoparticle Fe3O4@NFC@Co(ii) terminated complex as a multi-nuclear catalyst. This protocol involves an environment friendly approach using cobalt acetate. The magnetic nanostructure Fe3O4@NFC@Co(ii) can be used as a novel, green, and a powerful catalyst that demonstrates a short reaction time, high yield and easy procedure for the cascade Knoevenagel-Michael-cyclocondensation reaction for the one-pot synthesis of 4H-pyrans and pyranopyrazoles. The superparamagnetic nanocomposite could be conveniently separated by using an external magnet. Moreover, the catalyst could be reused at least five times in new reaction runs without a noticeable loss of activity. The prepared catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, VSM, FESEM, EDAX, TEM, ICP, and TGA techniques. The experiments were achieved with good yields and implied that the catalytic method was effective and convenient for heterocyclic synthesis.

Slow-binding reversible inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase with long-lasting action for prophylaxis of organophosphate poisoning

Organophosphorus (OP) compounds represent a serious health hazard worldwide. The dominant mechanism of their action results from covalent inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Standard therapy of acute OP poisoning is partially effective. However, prophylactic administration of reversible or pseudo-irreversible AChE inhibitors before OP exposure increases the efficiency of standard therapy. The purpose of the study was to test the duration of the protective effect of a slow-binding reversible AChE inhibitor (C547) in a mouse model against acute exposure to paraoxon (POX). It was shown that the rate of inhibition of AChE by POX in vitro after pre-inhibition with C547 was several times lower than without C547. Ex vivo pre-incubation of mouse diaphragm with C547 significantly prevented the POX-induced muscle weakness. Then it was shown that pre-treatment of mice with C547 at the dose of 0.01 mg/kg significantly increased survival after poisoning by 2xLD50 POX. The duration of the pre-treatment was effective up to 96 h, whereas currently used drug for pre-exposure treatment, pyridostigmine at a dose of 0.15 mg/kg was effective less than 24 h. Thus, long-lasting slow-binding reversible AChE inhibitors can be considered as new potential drugs to increase the duration of pre-exposure treatment of OP poisoning.

Multi-Stimuli Nanocomposite Therapeutic: Docetaxel Targeted Delivery and Synergies in Treatment of Human Breast Cancer Tumor

A versatile breast cancer-targeting nanocomposite therapeutic combining docetaxel (DXL), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) network for controlled release, and silica-protected magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3 O4 NPs) for targeted delivery and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for plasmonic photothermal therapy (PPTT) is presented in this work. First, the designed nanocomposite is magnetically directed for cancer-targeted therapy confirmed by computerized tomography (CT) scans. Second, 10% DXL by mass is loaded into PVA, a pH and temperature responsive gel, for controlled release. Third, PPTT is confirmed with Au/Fe3 O4 /PVA-10%DXL using a prototype circulation system and then for tumor treatment in vivo; Au/Fe3 O4 /PVA-10%DXL is conveniently directed and the entrapped DXL is selectively released (≈96%) via the interaction of green and near-infrared (NIR) light with the localized surface plasmon resonance of AuNPs. A 75% cell death is reported from in vitro studies with DXL doses as low as 20 µg mL-1 of Au/Fe3 O4 /PVA-10%DXL, and a 70% tumor growth inhibition is demonstrated by in vivo experiments with the biosafety studies confirming minimal side effects to other organs. Overall, the developed Au/Fe3 O4 /PVA-10%DXL has a strong potential to simultaneously enhance CT imaging contrast together with the targeted delivery of DXL.

Brain delivery of antidotes by polymeric nanoparticles

Accidental intoxications from environmental pollutants, as well as intentional self- and chemical warfare-related poisonings affect millions of people worldwide each year. While many toxic agents can readily enter the central nervous system (CNS), the blood-brain barrier (BBB) prevents the brain uptake of most pharmaceuticals. Consequently, poisoning antidotes usually cannot reach their site of action in the CNS in therapeutically relevant concentrations, and thus only provide effective protection to the peripheral nervous system. This limitation can be overcome by encapsulating the antidotes in nanoparticles (NP), which can enhance their CNS accumulation without damaging the integrity of the BBB. Among nanocarriers, polymer-based drug delivery systems exhibit remarkable benefits, such as bioavailability, cell uptake and tissue retention. Furthermore, due to their capacity to mask unfavorable physicochemical properties of cargo drugs, polymeric NPs were able to improve BBB transport of various pharmaceuticals. However, while polymer NP-mediated treatment of various pathological brain conditions, such as glioma and Alzheimer's disease were exhaustively studied, the application of polymeric nanocarriers for brain-targeted delivery of antidote molecules has not been adequately examined. To display its therapeutic potential, we review the state of the art of polymer NP-assisted CNS delivery of antidotes for various poisonings, including heavy metal and organophosphorus intoxications.

Biomedical potentialities of cationic geminis as modulating agents of liposome in drug delivery across biological barriers and cellular uptake

Hydroxyethyl bearing gemini surfactants, alkanediyl-α,ω-bis(N-hexadecyl-N-2-hydroxyethyl-N-methylammonium bromide), 16-s-16(OH), were used to augment phosphatidylcholine based liposomes to achieve higher stability and enhanced cellular uptake and penetration. The developed liposomes were loaded with rhodamine B, doxorubicin hydrochloride, pralidoxime chloride to investigate release properties, cytotoxicity in vitro, as well as ability to cross the blood-brain barrier. At molar ratio of 35:1 (lipid:surfactant) the formulation was found to be of low toxicity, stable for two months, and able to deliver rhodamine B beyond the blood-brain barrier in rats. In vivo, pharmacokinetics of free and formulated 2-PAM in plasma and brain were evaluated, liposomal 2-PAM was found to reactivate 27% of brain acetylcholinesterase, which is, to our knowledge, the first example of such high degree of reactivation after intravenous administration of liposomal drug.

Synthesis and characterization of a supported Pd complex on volcanic pumice laminates textured by cellulose for facilitating Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions

Herein, a novel high-performance heterogeneous catalytic system made of volcanic pumice magnetic particles (VPMP), cellulose (CLS) natural polymeric texture, and palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) is presented. The introduced VPMP@CLS-Pd composite has been designed based on the principles of green chemistry, and suitably applied in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions, as an efficient heterogeneous catalytic system. Concisely, the inherent magnetic property of VPMP (30 emu g-1) provides a great possibility for separation of the catalyst particles from the reaction mixture with great ease. In addition, high heterogeneity and high structural stability are obtained by this composition resulting in remarkable recyclability (ten times successive use). As the main catalytic sites, palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) are finely distributed onto the VPMP@CLS structure. To catalyze the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions producing biphenyl pharmaceutical derivatives, the present Pd NPs were reduced from chemical state Pd2+ to Pd0. In this regard, a plausible mechanism is submitted in the context as well. As the main result of the performed analytical methods (including FT-IR, EDX, VSM, TGA, FESEM, TEM, BTE, and XPS), it is shown that the spherical-shaped nanoscale Pd particles have been well distributed onto the surfaces of the porous laminate-shaped VPMP. However, the novel designed VPMP@CLS-Pd catalyst is used for facilitating the synthetic reactions of biphenyls, and high reaction yields (∼98%) are obtained in a short reaction time (10 min) by using a small amount of catalytic system (0.01 g), under mild conditions (room temperature).

Design and Fabrication of a Magnetite-based Polymer-supported Hybrid Nanocomposite: A Promising Heterogeneous Catalytic System Utilized in Known Palladium-assisted Coupling Reactions

Objective:

Herein, a novel heterogeneous catalytic system constructed of iron oxide and palladium nanoparticles is presented. Firstly, a convenient synthetic pathway for the preparation of this catalytic system is introduced, then the application of the fabricated nanocomposite in the Pd-catalyzed C─C coupling reactions is monitored. High reaction yields (98%) have been obtained in short reaction time, by using this catalytic system.

Materials and Methods:

Fe3O4/P4VP-Pd catalytic system was fabricated via an in situ method by 4- vinylpyridine (4-VP). In this regard, all the essential structural analyses such as FT-IR, EDX, VSM, and TGA have been performed on the Fe3O4/P4VP-Pd catalytic system to investigate its properties. The spherical morphology of the NPs and their uniform size have also been studied by the SEM method. Further, the reaction progress was controlled by thin-layer chromatography. Finally, NMR analysis was used to identify the synthesized biphenyl pharmaceutical derivatives.

Results:

High efficiency of this catalytic system has been precisely investigated and the optimal conditions were determined. The catalytic process is carried out in 20 min, under mild conditions (room temperature). Then, the purification process is easily performed via magnetic separation of the catalyst NPs. Conclusion:

Among recently reported heterogeneous catalytic systems, Fe3O4/P4VP-Pd is recommended due to its high catalytic performance, convenience of the preparation process, excellent biocompatibility, economic benefits, and well reusability. Overall, in order to save time in the complex synthetic processes and also prevent using so many chemical reagents and solvents for the purification process, the presented catalytic system could be suitable for scaling up and applying for the industrial applications.
