Abstract
BACKGROUND Haemostasis during ovarian cystectomy is reported to damage the ovarian reserve, but the comparative impacts of three haemostasis methods (bipolar energy, suture and haemostatic sealant) on ovarian reserve in patients with ovarian cysts are not well known. METHODS The Cochrane Library, PubMed and Web of Science databases were searched from the date of inception of the database to June 2022 for literature exploring the impact of haemostasis methods during ovarian cystectomy on ovarian reserve. A traditional meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager software. A network meta-analysis (NMA) was performed using Stata and GemTC software. RESULTS The direct meta-analysis comparison indicated that the mean postoperative reduction of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) level was significantly higher in the electrocoagulation (bipolar) group than suture and haemostatic sealant group, both in the overall group and subgroup of women with ovarian endometrioma. In NMA, the reduction of postoperative AMH levels in the electrocoagulation (bipolar) group was higher than the suture group at 6 months with a statistical significance, and at 1, 3 and 12 months without a significant difference. The difference in the postoperative decrease of AMH level did not reach statistical significance between suture and sealant, coagulation and haemostatic sealant. The comprehensive ranking results revealed that suture treatment was, with the highest probability, beneficial to the protection of the ovarian reserve. CONCLUSIONS There was insufficient research to detect the optimal haemostasis method for ovarian reserve preservation in ovarian cystectomy. Nevertheless, haemostasis by electrocoagulation (bipolar) should be avoided when possible, and the suture might be considered as the best choice.

Abstract
Background and aims Some studies report that reproductive aged women with autoimmune thyroid disease (ATD) have a significantly higher risk of diminished ovarian reserve (OR). What is the best time to assessed OR in females with ATD? To answer this question, we assessed OR in girls and young women with ATD and reviewed the current literature regarding on the topic. Methods The study included 70 patients with ATD, mean 14.4 ± 3.3 years, and 29 age-matched controls. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone, estradiol, prolactin, thyroid stimulating hormone, free thyroxin, thyroid peroxidase antibody, thyroglobulin antibody and Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH), and Inhibin-B were measured in all participants, if possibly on day 3-5 of the menstrual cycle. Results Most ATD patients were euthyroid. All participants have normal OR. We found a significantly positive correlation between AMH and Inhibin-B in ATD patients and between Inhibin-B and FSH in both groups. Conclusions The results of our study and the literature review indicate that euthyroid adolescents with ATD do not have impaired OR. Routine evaluation of OR in adolescents with ATD does not seem necessary. But OR should be assessed in everyone with ATD and hypothyroidism, because not the presence of ATD but euthyroidism matters to OR.

Abstract
PURPOSE When resecting endometriomas with the stripping technique, in the majority of cases, a thin line of adjacent ovarian cortex is attached to the endometrioma. In this study, we performed histological analysis to determine (antral) follicle density in the ovarian cortex tissue attached to stripped endometriomas and assessed patient- and surgical characteristics that could affect this. METHODS Histological slides of previously removed endometriomas were assessed. Follicles in the attached ovarian tissue were classified according to maturation, and follicular density was determined. Immunofluorescent staining of antral follicles in a subset of endometriomas was also performed. RESULTS In 90 out of 96 included endometriomas (93.7%), ovarian tissue attached to the cyst wall was observed. One thousand nine hundred forty-four follicles at different maturation stages were identified (3 follicles/mm3). Follicle density was negatively associated with age (p < 0.001). Antral follicles (< 7-mm diameter) were present in the ovarian tissue attached to 35 endometriomas (36.5%) derived from younger patients compared to endometriomas where none were detected (30 versus 35 years, p = 0.003). Antral follicle density was 1 follicle/mm3. Based on immunofluorescence, healthy antral follicles were identified in two out of four examined endometriomas. CONCLUSIONS Ovarian tissue attached to stripped endometriomas holds potential as a non-invasive source for antral follicles. In theory, application of IVM could be an interesting alternative FP option in young patients with endometriomas who undergo cystectomy in order to transform the surgical collateral damage to a potential oocyte source. Our results encourage future research with fresh tissue to further assess the quality and potential of these follicles. Abstract
Background To investigate the existence and degree of correlation between benign ovarian tumors and physiological indicators such as reproductive hormones and tumor markers. Methods A total of 150 patients with benign ovarian tumors admitted to Jiaxing First Hospital between January 1, 2019, and May 30, 2021, were enrolled as research subjects, while 104 healthy women were enrolled in the control group. Comparative analysis of the correlation between the reproductive hormones LH, FSH, T, E2, and the tumor indicators AMH, AFP, CEA, CA125, and CA199 between the groups was performed. Results There was no statistical difference in LH, FSH, T, AMH, and CEA expression levels between the experimental and control groups (p≥0.05); E2, CA125, and CA199 levels were higher significantly in the experimental group than in the control group (P<0.001); AFP levels were significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group (P<0.05). CA125 (0.762) had the highest AUC when diagnosing the value of each index of E2, CA125, and CA199 for benign ovarian tumors. CA125 had the highest sensitivity (56.7%), followed by E2 (50.0%); CA199 had the highest specificity (84.5%), followed by CA125 (83.7%). The combined diagnosis of benign ovarian tumors was performed using different combinations of the indicators. When the two indicators were combined for diagnosis, the combination of E2 + CA199 had the highest sensitivity (82.6%), whereas the combination of CA125 + CA199 had the largest AUC (0.783) and the highest specificity (86.4%). The combined diagnosis of E2+CA125+CA199 had a higher AUC than the combined diagnosis of the two indicators (0.805), with a sensitivity of 77.2%, and a specificity of 70.9%. Conclusion The most relevant factors for benign ovarian tumors are E2, CA125, and CA199 and the combination of these three indicators has the highest AUC for disease prediction while increasing the detection rate of benign ovarian tumors.

Abstract
Endometriosis is a common reproductive disorder characterized by the presence of endometrial implants outside of the uterus. It affects ~1 in 10 women of reproductive age. Endometriosis in the ovary, also known as endometrioma (OMA), is the most frequent implantation site and the leading cause of reproductive failure in affected women. Ovarian aging is one of the characteristic features of OMA, however its underlying mechanism yet to be determined. Accumulated evidence has shown that pelvic and local microenvironments in women with OMA are manifested, causing detrimental effects on ovarian development and functions. Whilst clinical associations of OMA with poor ovarian reserve, premature ovarian insufficiency, and early menopause have been reported. Moreover, surgical ablation, fenestration, and cystectomy of OMA can further damage the normal ovarian reservoir, and trigger hyperactivation of primordial follicles, subsequently resulting in the undesired deterioration of ovarian functions. Nevertheless, there is no effective treatment to delay or restore ovarian aging. This review comprehensively summarised the pathogenesis and study hypothesis of ovarian aging caused by OMA in order to propose potential therapeutic targets and interventions for future studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is produced by granulosa cells in small growing ovarian follicles. In adult women, serum concentrations of AMH reflect the ovarian reserve of resting primordial follicles, and low AMH is associated with risk of early menopause. In contrast, patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have elevated AMH. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the individual tracking of serum AMH concentrations, as well as whether AMH in early childhood reflects ovarian activity in adolescence. METHODS In this large longitudinal study of healthy girls were examined from infancy to adolescence (1997-2019) including physical examination, assessment of serum concentrations of reproductive hormones (in infancy, median age 0.3 yrs; mid-childhood, 7.2 yrs; puberty, 11.3 yrs; and adolescence, 15.9 yrs), transabdominal ultrasound (TAUS, puberty and adolescence) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI, puberty) of the ovaries. FINDINGS Each girl maintained her relative AMH concentration (expressed as standard deviation (SD) scores) over time; mean variation of individual age adjusted AMH concentrations was 0.56 ± 0.31 SD.Serum concentrations of AMH in adolescence correlated with AMH in infancy and childhood; infancy: r = 0.347; mid-childhood: r = 0.637; puberty: r = 0.675, all p < 0.001.AMH correlated negatively with FSH concentrations in all age groups (infancy: r = -0.645, p < 0.001; mid-childhood: r = -0.222, p < 0.001; puberty: r = -0.354, p < 0.001; adolescence: n = 275, r = -0.175, p = 0.004).Serum AMH concentrations in mid-childhood correlated with the number of follicles in puberty (TAUS and MRI) as well as in adolescence (TAUS); e.g. total number of follicles: TAUS puberty (r = 0.607), MRI puberty (r = 0.379), TAUS adolescence (r = 0.414), all p < 0.001.AMH concentration in infancy as well as in mid-childhood predicted low AMH (<10 pmol/L) in adolescence; AMH infancy <7.5 pmol/L as predictor of low AMH in adolescence: sensitivity 0.71, specificity 0.70, AUC 0.759; AMH mid-childhood < 8.4 pmol/L as predictor of low AMH in adolescence: sensitivity 0.88, specificity 0.87, AUC 0.949.Girls with high serum AMH concentration in mid-childhood (AMH >30.0 pmol/L vs. other girls) had higher adolescent LH (median 4.53 vs. 3.29 U/L p = 0.041), LH/FSH ratio (1.00 vs 0.67, p = 0.019), testosterone (1.05 vs 0.81 nmol/L, p = 0.005), total number of follicles (23 vs. 19, p = 0.004), and higher prevalence of irregular cycles (10/15 = 67% vs. 28/113 = 25%, p = 0.002). INTERPRETATION The present findings suggest remarkably stable ovarian activity from small growing follicles in healthy girls, supporting AMH in early life as a useful clinical tool to predict future ovarian activity. Abstract
Loss of fertility is one of the most important concerns facing Turner syndrome (TS) patients as they transition into adult health care. Due to the limited and rapidly decreasing ovarian reserve, many TS patients require fertility preservation (FP) techniques to preserve their reproductive potential until they are ready to pursue procreation. One has to also remember about the additional risks connected with pregnancy in TS patients. In order to determine the optimal time for introducing FP techniques and decrease the chance of an unnecessary intervention, markers and procedures assessing ovarian reserve have been developed. The exposure to potential cardiovascular complications should be determined before FP to avoid unnecessary procedures in patients with potential contraindications to pregnancy. The aim of the present review is to answer the following three questions important for successful preservation of fertility and safe pregnancy in TS: which markers of ovarian reserve should be used as selection criteria for FP? Which methods of FP are the safest and most effective? Are there any cardiovascular contraindications to FP? For each of those questions, separate literature searches have been conducted. A total of 86 articles have been included in this review: 34 for the first question, 35 for the second, and 17 for the third. Ovarian reserve markers and cardiovascular contraindications to pregnancy should be established before FP; hoverer, there are no unambiguous indicators as to which patients should be disqualified from the FP and more evidence is needed in this subject.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Does anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) induce preantral follicle atresia in mice? SUMMARY ANSWER The present findings suggest that AMH-mediated follicle atresia only occurs in early follicles before they become sensitive to FSH. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Most prior studies have investigated the ability of AMH to inhibit primordial follicle activation. Our previous study showed that AMH-overexpressing mice had fewer preantral follicles than expected after accounting for primordial follicle inhibition but the reason for this was not determined. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION Cross-sectional-control versus transgenic/knockout mouse studies were carried out. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Studies were conducted on female wild-type (Amh+/+), AMH-knockout (Amh-/-) and AMH overexpressing (Thy1.2-AMHTg/0) mice on a C57Bl/6J background (age: 42-120 days). The follicle counts were conducted for primordial, transitioning, primary, secondary and antral follicles in Amh-/- and Amh+/+ mice. After confirming that follicle development speeds were identical (proliferating cell nuclear antigen immunohistochemistry), the ratio of follicles surviving beyond each stage of folliculogenesis was determined in both genotypes. Evidence for increased rates of preantral follicle atresia was assessed by active caspase-3 immunohistochemistry in wild-type and Thy1.2-AMHTg/0 mice. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE Amh -/- mice at 100-120 days of age had lower primordial follicle counts but higher primordial follicle activation rates compared to Amh+/+ mice. These counteracting effects led to equivalent numbers of primordial follicles transitioning to the primary stage in Amh+/+ and Amh-/- mice. Despite this, Amh+/+ mice had fewer primary, secondary, small antral and medium antral follicles than Amh-/- mice indicating differing rates of developing follicle atresia between genotypes. Cleaved caspase-3 immunohistochemistry in Thy1.2-AMHTg/0 ovaries revealed high rates of granulosa cell and oocyte apoptosis in late primary/early secondary follicles of Thy1.2-AMHTg/0 mice. LARGE SCALE DATA N/A. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION The findings were shown only in one species and additional research will be required to determine generalizability to other species. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS This study is consistent with prior studies showing that Amh-/- mice have increased primordial follicle activation but these new findings demonstrate that AMH-mediated preantral follicle atresia is a predominant cause of the increased small antral follicle counts in Amh-/- mice. This suggests that the role of AMH is not to conserve the ovarian reserve to prolong fertility, but instead to prevent the antral follicle pool from becoming too large. While this study may demonstrate a new function for AMH, the biological purpose of this function requires further investigation, particularly in mono-ovulatory species. Abstract
Turner syndrome (TS) is caused by the absence of a part or whole X chromosome in a phenotypic female and has an estimated prevalence of 25-50/100,000 live-born females. The primary gynecologic manifestation of TS is primary ovarian insufficiency (POI), and the resulting hypoestrogenism and infertility are experienced by most individuals with TS. In this review, we summarize the recommendations for the care of adolescents and young adults with TS, with a focus on primary ovarian insufficiency in TS, hormone replacement therapy, fertility preservation, and pregnancy in TS.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Turner syndrome is the most common sex chromosome abnormality in female individuals, affecting 1/2000-1/2500 female newborns. Despite the high incidence of this condition, the mechanisms underlying the development of multiorgan dysfunction have not been elucidated. RECENT FINDINGS Clinical features involve multiple organ systems and include short stature, dysmorphic facial features, delayed puberty and gonadal failure, cardiac and renal abnormalities, audiologic abnormalities, and a high prevalence of endocrine and autoimmune disorders. Paucity of available genotype/phenotype correlation limits the ability of clinicians to provide accurate guidance and management. Given the advent of robust genetic testing and analysis platforms, developments in the genetic basis of disease are materializing at a rapid pace. SUMMARY The objective of this review is to highlight the recent advances in knowledge and to provide a framework with which to apply new data to the foundational understanding of the condition.

Abstract
This study aimed to identify the correlation among anti-Mullerian Hormone serum levels and 25-OH-D, obesity, metabolic syndrome (MetS), and sexual hormones in climacteric women classified according to stages of reproductive aging (SRA). A cross-sectional study was conducted with a total of 177 Brazilian climacteric women between 40 and 64 years old. Concentrations of AMH were measured using the Access 2 Immunoassay System. A multiple linear regression analysis was used to identify the relationship among AMH, 25-OH-D, obesity, MetS, sexual hormones, sociodemographic and lifestyle factors. AMH levels decreased with increased age (B = - 0.059; p < 0.001), and reproductive aging (B = - 0.483; p < 0.001). Obesity indicators, lifestyle characters, 25-OH-D levels and MetS were not significantly associated with AMH serum concentration. Negative correlation was found for FSH (B = - 0.009; p < 0.001) and LH (B = - 0.006; p = 0.004); positive correlation for E2 (B = 0.001; p = 0.011), DHEAS (B = 0.003; p < 0.001) and SHBG (B = 0.003; p = 0.005). In the model adjusted for SRA, FSH levels (p < 0.001) and DHEAS (p = 0.014) were associated with AMH. Although, with the adjustment for age, only FSH remained with a significant association (p = 0.001). Of the other analytes, none was associated with AMH, regardless of the model fit. Our findings confirm that serum AMH level decreased with age and FSH levels, but there is no correlation between AMH with obesity, 25-OH-D, MetS or other sexual hormones in Brazilian climacteric women.

Abstract
CONTEXT Evaluation of the infertile female requires an understanding of ovulation and biomarkers of ovarian reserve. Antimüllerian hormone (AMH) correlates with growing follicles in a menstrual cycle. Increasingly, AMH has been used as a "fertility test." This narrative review describes how to integrate the use of AMH into diagnosis and treatment. METHODS A PubMed search was conducted to find recent literature on measurements and use of serum AMH as a marker of ovarian reserve and in treatment of infertility. RESULTS Serum AMH estimates ovarian reserve, helps determine dosing in ovarian stimulation, and predicts stimulation response. As such, AMH is a good marker of oocyte quantity but does not reflect oocyte health or chances for pregnancy. Screening of AMH before fertility treatment should be used to estimate expected response and not to withhold treatment. Low AMH levels may suggest a shortened reproductive window. AMH levels must be interpreted in the context of the endogenous endocrine environment where low follicle-stimulating hormone, due to hypogonadotropic hypogonadism or hormonal contraceptive use, may lower AMH without being a true reflection of ovarian reserve. In addition, there is an inverse correlation between body mass index and AMH that does not reflect ovarian response. CONCLUSION AMH is a useful marker of ovarian reserve in reproductive-aged women. Increased screening of noninfertile women requires a thorough knowledge of situations that may affect AMH levels. In no situation does AMH reflect oocyte health or chances for conception. Age is still the strongest driver in determining success rates with fertility treatments.

Abstract
CONTEXT Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) was originally described in the context of sexual differentiation in the male fetus but has gained prominence now as a marker of ovarian reserve and fertility in females. In this mini-review, we offer an updated synopsis on AMH and its clinical utility in pediatric patients. DESIGN AND RESULTS A systematic search was undertaken for studies related to the physiology of AMH, normative data, and clinical role in pediatrics. In males, AMH, secreted by Sertoli cells, is found at high levels prenatally and throughout childhood and declines with progression through puberty to overlap with levels in females. Thus, serum AMH has clinical utility as a marker of testicular tissue in males with differences in sexual development and cryptorchidism and in the evaluation of persistent Mullerian duct syndrome. In females, serum AMH has been used as a predictive marker of ovarian reserve and fertility, but prepubertal and adolescent AMH assessments need to be interpreted cautiously. AMH is also a marker of tumor burden, progression, and recurrence in germ cell tumors of the ovary. CONCLUSIONS AMH has widespread clinical diagnostic utility in pediatrics but interpretation is often challenging and should be undertaken in the context of not only age and sex but also developmental and pubertal stage of the child. Nonstandardized assays necessitate the need for assay-specific normative data. The recognition of the role of AMH beyond gonadal development and maturation may usher in novel diagnostic and therapeutic applications that would further expand its utility in pediatric care.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder among reproductive-aged women. It is characterized by chronic anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and the presence of polycystic ovary in ultrasound examination. PCOS is specified by an increased number of follicles at all growing stages, mainly seen in the preantral and small antral follicles and an increased serum level of Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH). Because of the strong correlation between circulating AMH levels and antral follicle count on ultrasound, Anti-Müllerian Hormone has been proposed as an alternative marker of ovulatory dysfunction in PCOS. However, the results from the current literature are not homogeneous, and the specific threshold of AMH in PCOS and PCOM is, therefore, very challenging. This review aims to update the current knowledge about AMH, the pathophysiology of AMH in the pathogenesis of PCOS, and the role of Anti-Müllerian Hormone in the treatment of this syndrome.

Background
With the growth of women’s age, ovarian failure can be caused by various factors. For the women who need chemotherapy because of cancer factors, the preservation of fertility is more urgent. The treatment of cancer is also a process in which all tissues and organs of the body are severely damaged, especially in the reproductive system.
Main body
As a new fertility preservation technology, autologous ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation is developing rapidly and showing great potentiality in preserving ovarian endocrine function of young cervical cancer patients. Vitrification and slow freezing are two common techniques applied for ovarian tissue cryopreservation. Thus, cryopreserved/thawed ovarian tissue and transplantation act as an important method to preserve ovarian function during radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and ovarian cryopreservation by vitrification is a very effective and extensively used method to cryopreserve ovaries. The morphology of oocytes and granulosa cells and the structure of organelles were observed under the microscope of histology; the hormone content in the stratified culture medium of granulosa cells with the diameter of follicle was used to evaluate the development potential of ovarian tissue, and finally the ovarian tissue stimulation was determined by the technique of ovarian tissue transplantation.
Conclusions
Although there are some limitations, the team members still carry out this review to provide some references and suggestions for clinical decision-making and further clinical research.

Abstract
Background The aim of the present study was to assess the expression and serum level of AMH in first-generation female mice pups following fennel and flaxseed consumption. Methods Twenty pregnant NMRI mice were allocated into four groups including control (CTL), fennel (FV), flaxseed (LU) and FV+ LU. Sixty-four female offsprings after lactation period, received the same regimen as their mothers for 56 and 240 days. The ovarian follicles development, serum concentration of AMH, as well as gene and protein expression of AMH were evaluated in the female offsprings at post-natal day 56 (PND56) and 240 (PND240). Results The number of total growing follicles were raised in the FV group in compression to the all experimental groups. In contrast, LU group showed a marked decrease in their numbers. The highest level of serum AMH was seen in the FV-diet mice, whereas LU negatively affected it. The expression level of AMH also increased in the FV and FV + LU groups, while a reduction was observed in the LU group. As well, IHC data showed that the number of AMH-positive cells in almost ovarian follicles of FV and FV + LU-treated mice was in compared to those of the LU group. Conclusions The overall effect of fennel treatment (alone and in combination with flaxseed) on ovary might be maintain primordial follicle storage through increased expression and serum level of AMH.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate abnormalities of early folliculogenesis and Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) concentrations in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients, and to analyze the association between AMH and early-stage follicle densities (FD). Methods A total of 175 patients underwent ovarian tissue cryopreservation in the first official cryobank in China, of which 16 patients aged 30–40 years old were diagnosed with endometrial cancer (all without initial chemo/radiotherapy), including 5 patients with concurrent PCOS and the other 11 patients without. We obtained standard cortical biopsies to measure FD using calcein staining. Blood samples were collected before cryopreservation to evaluate AMH concentrations. Results PCOS showed nearly three times the primordial and primary FD than NPCOS (P = 0.027), as well as more secondary preantral follicles (P = 0.002). A significantly higher proportion of secondary preantral follicles and a lower proportion of primordial and primary follicles were observed in PCOS (P = 0.01). Furthermore, the AMH concentration in PCOS was four times higher than that in NPCOS (P = 0.003), which is significantly correlated with primordial and primary follicle densities (r = 0.855, P < 0.001) and secondary preantral follicle densities (r = 0.732, P = 0.007). Conclusions We found significant disorders of early folliculogenesis in PCOS, which showed close correlation with increased AMH concentrations. To our knowledge, abnormalities of early-stage follicles have been shown for the first time in ovarian tissue of Chinese PCOS women. We suppose that the elevated AMH level is associated with abnormalities of early folliculogenesis within the complex PCOS pathogenesis, which may explain why AMH has the potential to be used as a biomarker for the diagnosis of PCOS. Our findings provide more implications for understanding the mechanism of PCOS, and new directions for further studies.

Abstract
Prediction of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) would be of substantial individual benefit, but being a heterogeneous and fluctuating condition, with an extensive range of complex etiologies and arbitrary diagnostic criteria, might make this seem foolhardy. However, contemporary and complementary genetic strategies assessing consanguineous and large POI pedigrees and cohorts with age at natural menopause have shown strong enrichment in genes regulating DNA damage repair, homologous recombination, and meiosis, processes that are critical to oogenesis and folliculogenesis. Recognition of the molecular architecture of POI and its contribution to baseline genotypic risk may enable these estimates to be refined further by estimation of the residual ovarian reserve. Increasing data derived from spontaneous and gonadotoxic-induced POI cohorts demonstrate the utility of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) to predict POI. This review presents current understanding of how genetics in combination with AMH may facilitate the prediction of POI.

Abstract
The menopause and its pathological version, premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), are characterized by the cessation of follicle growth in the ovary, with consequent lack of estrogen production and amenorrhea. The measurement of a specific product of ovarian follicles would therefore be expected to be a valuable biomarker in women with POI, and to be of likely clinical value in the diagnosis and perhaps prediction of POI. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is produced by the granulosa cells of growing follicles and is therefore likely to be of value in this context. Current data indicate that measurement of AMH is an accurate indicator of POI in many situations and has diagnostic validity and may facilitate more timely diagnosis. AMH seems to be of limited value in predicting age at natural menopause, even with multiple measurements, and there are scarce data regarding prediction of POI, other than when it is imminent, and in some contexts where there is an immediate iatrogenic threat to ovarian function. AMH therefore appears to have considerable value as a diagnostic test for POI, but apart from highlighting broadly those at increased risk, it has inadequate precision to be able to predict accurately the timing of onset of impending POI.

Abstract
CONTEXT Anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) is produced by granulosa cells of small, growing follicles in the ovary. Serum AMH levels strongly correlate with the number of growing follicles, and therefore AMH has received increasing attention as a marker for ovarian reserve. This review summarizes recent findings and limitations in the application of serum AMH in ovarian reserve assessment. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION A PubMed search was conducted to find recent literature on the measurements and use of serum AMH as a marker for ovarian reserve. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Serum AMH levels are measured to assess the "functional ovarian reserve," a term that is preferred over "ovarian reserve," since AMH levels reflect the pool of growing follicles that potentially can ovulate. Serum AMH levels are used in individualized follicle-stimulating hormone dosing protocols and may predict the risk of poor response or ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome but has limited value in predicting ongoing pregnancy. Serum AMH levels are studied to predict natural or disease-related age of menopause. Studies show that the age-dependent decline rates of AMH vary among women. The generalized implementation of serum AMH measurement has also led to an increase in diagnostic assays, including automated assays. However, direct comparison of results remains problematic. CONCLUSION Serum AMH remains the preferred ovarian reserve marker. However, the lack of an international standard for AMH limits comparison between AMH assays. Furthermore, little is known about endogenous and exogenous factors that influence serum AMH levels, which limits proper interpretation of AMH values in a clinical setting.

Abstract
Fertility preservation in women with Turner syndrome is highly controversial. Some strongly recommend freezing of ovarian tissue at a young age, others do not. The controversy is partly due to different perspectives and professions. Biologists prefer to freeze young ovaries with high follicle density, reproductive physicians want to avoid risky operations and iatrogenic infertility by removing one ovary, and cardiologists and obstetricians warn against the risks of later pregnancies. Accordingly, fertility preservation in young women with Turner syndrome is more than just the freezing of ovarian tissue or oocytes. Fertility preservation requires a balanced decision considering the conservation of fertility, the protection of reproductive health, and future health consequences. Therefore, fertility preservation strategies should be based not only on the individual ovarian reserve but also on the genotype and the expected cardiac health status to decide what is the best option: to freeze tissue or alternatively to wait and see.
