Abstract
We investigate the effects of solvents on the geometry, absorption spectrum, and first hyperpolarizability of six push-pull molecules, each containing a 4,5-dicyanoimidazole group as an electron acceptor and a N,N-dimethylamino group as an electron donor, with systematically extended π-conjugated systems. Geometry optimizations in dichloromethane, methanol, water, and formamide under normal thermodynamic conditions were performed using the average solvent electrostatic configuration-free energy gradient method, which employs a discrete solvent model. The conformational structure of molecules is moderately affected by the environment, with the π-conjugated system becoming more planar in protic solvents. Solvent effects on the first hyperpolarizability result in marked increases that are in line with the red shifts of the absorption spectrum. The hyperpolarizability of smaller molecules within the set may be significantly influenced by the effects of geometry relaxation in highly polar protic solvents. The results illustrate the role of hydrogen bonds in the structure and electronic properties of push-pull molecules in protic environments. For smaller molecules, hydrogen bonds significantly contribute to enhancing the hyperpolarizability, but the effect of these specific interactions becomes less significant with the length of the π-conjugated system.

Abstract
Using density functional theory, we have studied the intrinsic properties of styrene. First, we determine the optimized structures, structural parameters and thermodynamic properties to make our simulations more realistic to experimental results and check the stability. Second, we investigate optoelectronic, electronic and global descriptors, transport properties of holes and electrons, natural bond orbital analysis, absorption and fluorescence properties. Finally, we study nonlinear optical (NLO) properties: first- and second-order hyperpolarizability, second and third-order optical susceptibilities, hyper-Rayleigh scattering hyperpolarizability, electro-optical Pockel effect, direct current Kerr effects and quadratic refractive index. The bandgap energy E g = 5.146 eV and dielectric constantε r = 3.062 show that styrene is a good insulator with an average electric field value of 4.43 × 108 Vm-1. Thermodynamic findings show that our molecule is thermodynamically and chemically stable. Electron and hole reorganization energies of 0.393 and 0.295 eV, respectively, show that styrene is more favourable to hole transport than electron transport. Styrene is transparent with linear refractive index n = 1.750 and quadratic n 2 = 1.748 × 10-20 m2 W-1. At the NLO, styrene has a non-zero value ofβ H R S , which confirms the existence of first-order NLO activity. Globally the study shows that the styrene monomer is suitable for the architecture design of new polymer materials for NLO applications and optoelectronic by functionalization.

Abstract
Hypochlorous acid (HClO/ClO- ) is one of the important reactive oxygen species (ROS). It acts as a second signaling molecule within and between cells and is an indispensable active molecule in living organisms to regulate physiological and pathological processes. In this article, two fluorescent probes (PTF and PTA) for highly selective fluorescent recognition of ClO- were successfully synthesized based on the ICT mechanism by condensing phenothiazines with two hydrazides via the hydrazide structure (). PTF can identify different concentrations of ClO- in two steps. Due to its ClO- two site recognition, the probe exhibited good selectivity (specific recognition of ClO- over a wide concentration range), a fast time response (rapid recognition in seconds), a sufficiently low detection limit (3.6 and 11.0 nM), and large Stokes shifts (180 and 145 nm). Furthermore, the recognition of ClO- by contrasting probes with different substituents exhibited different fluorescence changes of ratiometric type and turn-off. PTF successfully achieves the detection of exogenous and endogenous ClO- in aqueous solution and living cells.

Abstract
An experimental and theoretical study based on DFT/TD-DFT approximations is presented to understand the nature of electronic excitations, reactivity, and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of reactive orange 16 dye (RO16), an azo chromophore widely used in textile and pharmacological industries. The results show that the solvent has a considerable influence on the electronic properties of the material. According to experimental results, the absorption spectrum is formed by four intense transitions, which have been identified as [Formula: see text] states using TD-DFT calculations. However, the TD-DFT results reveal a weak [Formula: see text] in the low-lying spectral region. Continuum models of solvation indicate that these states suffer from bathochromic (ca. 15 nm) and hypsochromic shifts (ca. 4 nm), respectively. However, the expected blue shift for the absorption [Formula: see text] is only described using long-range or dispersion-corrected DFT methods. RO16 is classified as a strong electrophilic system, with electrophilicity ω > 1.5 eV. Concerning the nucleophilicity parameter (N), from vacuum to solvent, the environment is active and changes the nucleophilic status from strong to moderate nucleophile (2.0 ≤ N ≤ 3.0 eV). The results also suggest that all electrical constants are strongly dependent on long-range and Hartree-Fock exchange contributions, and the absence of these interactions gives results far from reality. In particular, the results for the NLO response show that the chromophore presents a potential application in this field with a low refractive index and first hyperpolarizability ca. 214 times bigger than the value usually reported for urea (β = 0.34 × 10- 30 esu), which is a standard NLO material. Concerning the solvent effects, the results indicate that the polarizability increases [Formula: see text] esu from gas to solvent while the first hyperpolarizability is calculated as [Formula: see text] esu, ca. 180%, regarding the vacuum. The results suggest RO16 is a potential compound in NLO applications.
