Abstract
Anticorrosion and adsorption behaviour of synthesized carbohydrazide Schiff bases, namely (Z)-N'-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-6-methyl-2-oxo-4-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbohydrazide(MBTC) and (Z)-N'-(3,4-dichlorobenzylidene)-6-methyl-2-oxo-4-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbohydrazide (CBTC) was examined for mild steel (MS) in 15% HCl medium. The corrosion inhibition study was performed by using gravimetric, thermodynamic, electrochemical and theoretical studies including density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamic simulation (MDS) and Monte Carlo simulations (MCS). The outcomes in terms of corrosion inhibition efficiency using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method at 303 K and 150 ppm concentration were 96.75% for MBTC and 95.14% for CBTC. Both inhibitors adsorbed on the MS surface through physical as well as chemical adsorption and followed the Langmuir isotherm. The mixed-type nature of both inhibitors was identified by polarization results. Surface analysis was done using FESEM, EDX, AFM and XPS studies and results showed that a protective layer of inhibitor molecules was developed over the surface of MS. The results of DFT, MCS and MDS are in accordance with experimental results obtained by weight loss and electrochemical methods.

Abstract
The current study examines the evaluation of diazene-based Schiff base derivatives, namely, 4-((E)-(3-((E)-(hexylimino)methyl)-4-hydroxyphenyl)diazenyl)benzonitrile (S1) and 4-((E)-(3-((E)-(dodecylimino) methyl)-4-hydroxyphenyl)diazenyl)benzonitrile (S2). The structure elucidation of prepared the Schiff base compounds was performed by FTIR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR. In addition, the corrosion inhibition capacity of these compounds was investigated for API X65 steel pipelines in 1 M HCl utilizing gravimetric and electrochemical methods. By conducting the experimental investigations at various doses, it was possible to assess the inhibition effectiveness and adsorption behavior of S1 and S2. With increasing concentration, both inhibitors became more effective at inhibiting corrosion. S1 and S2 suppressed both cathodic and anodic processes, as shown by the potentiodynamic polarization study. The charge transfer resistance (Rct) increased when S1 and S2 concentrations increased, according to the electrochemical impedance analysis (EIS) data. According to the Langmuir isotherm model, the adsorption of S1 and S2 inhibitors on carbon steel was discovered based on gravimetric measurements. The results were confirmed by theoretical data in addition to the experimental tests for the presence of S1 and S2 inhibitor films over the API X65 carbon steel surface.

Abstract
The inhibitory effect of di-imine-SB namely ((N1Z, N4E)-N1, N4-bis (4 (dimethylamino) benzylidene) butane 1,4-diamine) on X65-steel in 1 M HCl has been investigated experimentally and theoretically. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), and weight loss outcomes display the anticorrosion properties of "di-imine- SB". The inhibitory efficiency exceeds 90% at the optimal concentration of 1 × 10-3 M "di-imine- SB". The metal surface was examined further using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). The effectiveness of the di-imine-SB is returned into its adsorption on X65-steel surface and found in agreement with Langmuir adsorption isotherm. According to the standard Gibbs free energy of adsorption [Formula: see text], di-imine-SB adsorption tends to be chemical rather than physical, it increases the activation energy ([Formula: see text]) of metal dissolution reaction and makes it hard to occur. The PDP data suggested anodic and cathodic type of the di-imine-SB inhibitor. Meanwhile, increasing the resistance of X65-steel to 301 Ω cm2 after adding 1 mM of di-imine-SB confirms its protective effect. Whereas, the positive value of the fraction of electron transference (ΔN, 0.746), confirms the affinity of di-imine-SB to share electrons to the partially filed 3d-orbital of Fe forming strong protective film over X65-steel surface. Aided by Monte Carlo (MC) simulation, the calculated adsorption energy (Eads) suggests excessive adsorption affinity of di-imine-SB on metal surface over the corrosive chlorides and hydronium ions. A good correlation between the theoretical hypothesis and the experimental inhibition efficiency has been achieved. The comparative study showed the superior of the di-imine-SB as potential corrosion inhibitor compared with those reported before. Finally, global reactivity descriptors; electron affinity (A), ionization potential (I), electronegativity (χ), dipole moment (µ), global hardness ([Formula: see text]), electrophilicity index and, Fukui indices were also calculated and found well correlated to the reactivity of di-imine-SB.

Abstract
Since the last decade, research on quinoline Schiff base metal complexes has risen substantially due to their versatile applications across many significant fields. Schiff bases are also known as azomethines, aldimines, and imines. Quinoline Schiff base-derived metal complexes are intriguing to study topics. These complexes are employed in biological, analytical, and catalytic fields. Researchers have found that Schiff bases are more biologically active when coordinated with metal ions. Research in the biological sciences has shown that heterocyclic compounds like quinoline and its derivatives are important. Because of their broad spectrum of activity, quinoline derivatives have been discovered to be effective therapeutic agents for various disorders. Even though various classical synthetic pathways mentioned in the literature are still in use, there is an urgent need for a new, more effective method that is safer for the environment, has a higher yield, generates less hazardous waste, and is easier to use. This highlights the critical need for a safe, eco-friendly approach to quinoline scaffold synthesis. This review focuses exclusively on Schiff base metal complexes derived from quinoline, fabricated and studied in the past ten years, and having anticancer, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, antidiabetic, antiproliferative, DNA-intercalation, and cytotoxic activities.

Abstract
In this work, three different derivatives of Schiff base, as mono- and di-Schiff bases, were successfully synthesized by the facile condensation of 2-aminopyridine, o-phenylenediamine, or 4-chloro-o-phenylenediamine with sodium salicylaldehyde-5-sulfonate (H1, H2, and H3, respectively). A combination of theoretical and practical studies was accomplished on the corrosion mitigation effect of the prepared Schiff base derivatives on C1018 steel in CO2-saturated 3.5% NaCl solution. The corrosion inhibition effect of the synthesized Schiff base molecules was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) methods. The outcomes exhibited that Schiff base derivatives have an outstanding corrosion inhibition effect on carbon steel at particularly low concentrations in sweet conditions. The outcomes showed that Schiff base derivatives exhibited a satisfactory inhibition efficiency of 96.5% (H1), 97.7% (H2), and 98.1% (H3) with a dosage of 0.5 mM at 323 K. SEM/EDX analysis confirms the adsorbed inhibitor film's formation on the metal surface. The polarization plots indicate that the studied compounds behaved as inhibitors of the mixed type according to the isotherm model of Langmuir. The computational inspections (MD simulations and DFT calculations) display a good correlation with the investigational findings. The outcomes could be applied to assess the efficiency of the inhibiting agents in the gas and oil industry.

Abstract
The corrosion inhibition of transition metal chelates derived from Schiff base ligands was tested for (mild, copper, stainless, aluminum and carbon) steel in various concentrations of (HCl, HNO3 and H2SO4) acidic medium at 25 °C through (weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and open circuit potential measurements (OCP)) techniques. The studied compounds were identified with various spectral, analytical and physico-chemical techniques. It was observed that the investigated compounds had a significant inhibitory impact on the corrosion of diverse steels in the medium investigated. The analysis shows that increasing the dose of the studied complexes improves the corresponding inhibitory efficiency values. Negative results of Gibb’s free adsorption energy (ΔGads0) prove the suppression process’s spontaneous and physical adsorption, which contradicts the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. As a result of this insight, a novel bridge between nuclearity driven coordinated inorganic chemistry and materials, as well as corrosion control, has been built. This review provides an overview of the use of Schiff bases and associated transition metals as potential corrosion inhibitors, including the factors that influence their application.

Abstract
Two tetradentate dibasic chelating Schiff base iron (III) chelates were prepared from the reaction of 2,2′-((1E,1′E)-(1,2-phenylenebis(azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(4-bromophenol) (PDBS) and 2,2′-((1E,1′E)-((4-chloro-1,2-phenylene)bis(azanylylidene))-bis(methanylylidene))bis(4-bromophenol) (CPBS) with Fe3+ ions. The prepared complexes were fully characterized with spectral and physicochemical tools such as IR, NMR, CHN analysis, TGA, UV-visible spectra, and magnetic moment measurements. Moreover, geometry optimizations for the synthesized ligands and complexes were conducted using the Gaussian09 program through the DFT approach, to find the best structures and key parameters. The prepared compounds were tested as antimicrobial agents against selected strains of bacteria and fungi. The results suggests that the CPBSFe complex has the highest activity, which is close to the reference. An MTT assay was used to screen the newly synthesized compounds against a variety of cell lines, including colon cancer cells, hepatic cellular carcinoma cells, and breast carcinoma cells. The results are expressed by IC50 value, in which the 48 µg/mL value of the CPBSFe complex indicates its success as a potential anticancer agent. The antioxidant behavior of the two imine chelates was studied by DPPH assay. All the tested imine complexes show potent antioxidant activity compared to the standard Vitamin C. Furthermore, the in vitro assay and the mechanism of binding and interaction efficiency of the tested samples with the receptor of COVID-19 core protease viral protein (PDB ID: 6lu7) and the receptor of Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, PDB ID: 1fj4) were investigated using molecular docking experiments.

Abstract
In this study, we are interested in preparing Fe(III), Pd(II), and Cu(II) complexes from new thiazole derivatives. All syntheses were elaborately elucidated to estimate their molecular and structural formulae, which agreed with those of mononuclear complexes. The square-planer geometry of Pd(II) complex (MATYPd) was the starting point for its use as a heterocatalyst in preparing pyrazole-4-carbonitrile derivatives 4a-o using ultrasonic irradiation through a facile one-pot reaction. The simple operation, short-time reaction (20 min), and high efficiency (97%) were the special advantages of this protocol. Furthermore, this green synthesis strategy was advanced by examination of the reusability of the catalyst in four consecutive cycles without significant loss of catalytic activity. The new synthesis strategy presented remarkable advantages in terms of safety, simplicity, stability, mild conditions, short reaction time, excellent yields, and use of a H2O solvent. This catalytic protocol was confirmed by the density functional theory (DFT) study, which reflected the specific characteristics of such a complex. Logical mechanisms have been suggested for the successfully exerted essential physical parameters that confirmed the superiority of the Pd(II) complex in the catalytic role. Optical band gap, electrophilicity, and electronegativity features, which are essential parameters for the catalytic behavior of the Pd(II) complex, are based mainly on the unsaturated valence shell of Pd(II).

Abstract
In the present study, biomass of Agaricus campestris was tested to evaluate its effectivity as a biosorbent for the removal of Cr (VI) ions from aqueous solutions. The influence of various process parameters such as pH, temperature, contact time, biosorbent dosage and desorption were studied. Pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, Ritchies and intraparticle diffusion model were used to present the adsorption kinetics. Results obtained indicate that the adsorption process is fast and spontaneous within the first 60 min. The experimental data supports pseudo-second order model. The sorption data conformed well to the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity (q max) onto A. campestris was 56.21 mg g-1 for Cr(VI) at 45°C when 0.1 g biomass was used. In addition, the mean values of thermodynamic parameters of standard free energy (ΔG0 = -1.635 kJ mol-1 at 45°C), standard enthalpy (ΔH0 = -9.582 kJ mol-1) and standard entropy (ΔS0 = -24.992 J mol-1K-1) of the adsorption mechanism were determined.

Abstract
A new bidentate Schiff base ligand (ATBS [4-bromo-2-(thiazole-2-yliminomethyl)phenol]) was synthesized via the condensation reaction of 2-aminothiazole with 5-bromosalicylaldehyde in ethanol. The reaction of ATBS with transition metal salts of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Mn(II) afforded the corresponding ATBS-M complexes. Results from physicochemical and spectral analyses, such as elemental analysis, infrared, UV-Vis spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, and molar conductance, revealed a nonelectrolytic nature with octahedral (Oh ) geometry and a metal/ligand ratio of 1:2 for Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II), but 1:1 for the Mn(II) complex. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations are correlated very well with the proposed structure and molecular geometry of the complexes as [M(ATBS)2 ] (M = Cu, Co, and Ni) and [Mn(ATBS)(H2 O)2 ]. Significantly, the prepared compounds showed strong inhibition activity for a wide spectrum of bacteria (Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus) and fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, and Trichophyton rubrum), with the ATBS-Ni complex being the most promising antibiotic agent. Molecular docking studies of the binding interaction between the title complexes with the bacterial protein receptor CYP51 revealed clear insights about the inhibition nature against the studied microorganisms, with the following order: ATBS-Cu > ATBS-Mn > ATBS-Ni > ATBS-Co for complex stability. Moreover, the cytotoxicity measurements of all prepared metal complexes against the colon carcinoma (HCT-116) and hepatocellular carcinoma (Hep-G2) cell lines showed exceptional anticancer efficacy of the complexes as compared with the free ATBS Schiff base ligand. Significantly, the results attested that ATBS-Cu is the most effective complex against HCT-116 cells, whereas ATBS-Mn has the highest cytotoxic efficiency against Hep-G2 cells. Furthermore, electronic spectra, viscosity measurements, and gel electrophoresis techniques were employed to probe the interaction of all prepared ATBS-metal complexes with calf thymus (CT)-DNA. Results confirmed that all complexes are strongly bound to CT-DNA via intercalation mode, with the ATBS-Co complex having the highest binding ability.

Non-Linear Optical Property and Biological Assays of Therapeutic Potentials Under In Vitro Conditions of Pd(II), Ag(I) and Cu(II) Complexes of 5-Diethyl amino-2-({2-[(2-hydroxy-Benzylidene)-amino]-phenylimino}-methyl)-phenol. Abstract
Herein, we report facile procedures for synthesis of a new Schiff base ligand (H2L,5-Diethylamino-2-({2-[(2-hydroxy-benzylidene)-amino]-phenylimino}-methyl)-phenol) and its Ag(I), Pd(II) and Cu(II) complexes. The structure of the H2L ligand as well as its metal complexes was deduced based on wide range of analytical, structural and spectroscopic tools, along with theoretical evidence via density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The obtained results indicated that the Schiff base (H2L) ligand acts as a tetradentate N2O2 donor with two azomethine nitrogen’s (N1, N2) and two deprotonated phenolic oxygens (O1, O2) atoms. A distorted octahedral structure is assigned to [CuL(OH2)2]·3/2H2O complex and square planar structure for PdL and AgL complexes. The electronic structure and non-linear optical (NLO) property of the prepared compounds were discussed theoretically by the B3LYP/GENECP program. Results revealed that all complexes have non-planner geometries as indicated from the dihedral angles. The charge transfer occurs within the synthesized complexes as indicated from the calculated energy gap between HOMO and LUMO energies. The H2L ligand and its complexes are excellent candidates for NLO materials as implied from their hyperpolarizabilities and polarizabilities values. The biological activities of the prepared complexes against selected microorganisms and cancer cell lines gave good growth inhibitory effect. The biocidal potencies of the ligand and its complexes can be arranged as follows: AgL > CuL > PdL > H2L, as compared to the used standard drugs. The antiproliferative activity of the studied complexes against different carcinoma cell lines such as liver (Hep-G2), breast (MCF-7) and colon (HCT-116) followed the order H2L < AgL< PdL < CuL < vinblastine. Probing the binding interactions of prepared complexes with calf thymus (CT)-DNA using electronic absorption, gel electrophoresis and viscosity measurements revealed strong interaction via intercalation modes, as also evidenced by their molecular docking study.

Abstract
Designing new metal-based molecular antibiotics is an efficient approach to overcome the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance. In this paper, novel Cr(III), Fe(III) and Cu(II) complexes comprising substituted aryl imidazole ligand (MSEB), namely (2-(1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazole-2-yl)(4-bromophenol)) have been synthesized and characterized using infra-red (IR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) and 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques, together with elemental (CHN) and thermogravimetric analyses, molar conductance, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The combined results along with the DFT calculations revealed a 1:1 (M: L) stoichiometric ratio and the complexes adopted distorted-octahedral geometries to afford [Cr(MSEB)Cl2(H2O)2], [Fe(MSEB)(NO3)2(H2O)2] and [Cu(MSEB)Cl(H2O)3] respectively. Biological studies showed that all complexes exhibited powerful antimicrobial activity against various strains of bacteria and fungi, S. aureus (+ve), E. coli (-ve) and P. aeruginosa (-ve) bacteria and T. Rubrum, C. albicans, and A. flavus fungi. Moreover, the three metal-complexes showed high in vitro cytotoxicity against Colon (HCT-116), Breast (MCF-7), and hepatic cellular (HepG-2) carcinoma cell lines, with MSEBCu complex being the most cytotoxic one. Finally the binding interactions of the complexes with CT-DNA were explored using UV-Vis spectroscopy, viscosity and gel electrophoreses measurements.

In this work, we report the synthesis of two Schiff bases of substituted gallic acid derivatives via amidation reaction and their characterization using 1H-NMR spectroscopy to study their inhibition performance on the aggressive attack of HCl on mild steel (MS). The inhibitive performance was examined using chemical (weight loss) and electrochemical (Tafel and EIS) test methods. The results indicate that these derivatives significantly suppress the dissolution rate of mild steel via adsorption phenomena, which correlates to the Langmuir adsorption model. Tafel data display the mixed-type properties of these compounds and EIS results show that increasing Schiff base concentration not only leads to delaying the charge transfer (Rct) of iron from 26.4 ohm cm−2 to 227.7 ohm cm−2 but also decreases the capacitance of the adsorbed double layer (Cdl) from 8.58 (F cm−2) × 10−5 to 2.55 (F cm−2) × 10−5. The inhibition efficiency percentage reaches the peak (90%) at optimum concentration of 250 ppm. The Monte Carlo simulations confirm the adsorption ability of the as-prepared compounds on the Fe (1 1 0) crystal. The SEM/EDX results revealed the presence of a protective film on the mild steel sample. Structures of the synthesized Schiff bases inhibitor.![]()

Abstract
A novel amphiphilic nitrone, N-phenyl-1-(4-((11-(pyridin-1-ium-1yl) undecanoyl) oxy)phenyl)methanimine oxide bromide (NP-1-4-11-PUOPMOB) has been synthesized from a fatty acid derivative as a starting material. Structural characterization of the new compound has been realized by spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR). The corrosion inhibition effect of the compound for St37 steel corrosion in 1 M HCl medium has been investigated using experimental (weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization, dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) and theoretical approaches complemented by surface morphological examination using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, and atomic force spectroscopy. Results from both chemical and electrochemical techniques reveal that the presence of the nitrone in the acid solution impedes St37 steel corrosion. The inhibition efficiency obtained at 125 ppm and 150 ppm concentrations for all methods is found to be over 90%. NP-1-4-11-PUOPMOB behaves as a mixed type corrosion inhibitor according to the potentiodynamic polarization studies. The adsorption of NP-1-4-11-PUOPMOB molecules onto the metal surface follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the calculated Kads (equilibrium constant of the adsorption process) value reflects strong interaction. There is evidence of NP-1-4-11-PUOPMOB adsorption on the metal surface from SEM, EDAX, and AFM studies. Experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement.
